Tomatoes are a great option for container gardening because they are relatively small plants that can produce a lot of fruit. When choosing a container for your tomatoes, make sure it is at least 18 inches wide and has drainage holes.
You can grow tomatoes in a variety of containers, including pots, barrels, and even hanging baskets.
If you are growing tomatoes in a pot, you will need to water them more frequently than if they were in the ground. Be sure to check the soil regularly and water when it is dry. You may also need to fertilize your tomatoes more often than if they were in the ground.
Look for a fertilizer that is high in nitrogen and phosphorus, which are the nutrients that tomatoes need the most.
When it comes to harvesting your tomatoes, you can either pick them when they are ripe or wait until they fall off the vine. If you wait until they fall off the vine, they will be more likely to bruise.
To pick tomatoes, hold the stem and gently twist the fruit until it comes off.
With a little care, you can enjoy fresh, homegrown tomatoes all season long!

All delivery actions were Ok. The fatal problem was the seed envelope was sealed but devoid of seeds. had a nice picture but no seeds. defect was Burpee not Wal-Mart. I am going to reorder next time.
As far as seeds you can get easily at the store go, Burpee’s are it for me. The convenience of grabbing super low priced seeds that can actually sprout worthwhile product is unbeatable with this brand.
Of course I will always advocate for growing from seed, and if you’re looking to start a basic garden grab some of these at your local store!.
Learn to garden the easy way. Grow the companion plants of Tomato and Marigold for a burst of flavor and color. Each kit includes a galvanized metal windowsill container, seed packets, growing medium, and growing instructions.
Growing Instructions: Dissolve growing medium pellets in 2-1/4 cups water and place into pot. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep (tip: sow each variety in a separate section) and lightly cover with growing medium. Cover pot with plastic wrap. Place in a warm, bright location and keep growing medium moist but not overwatered. Remove plastic wrap once seeds germinate (tomato: 7-14 days, marigold: 5-7 days). When the seedlings develop their second set of leaves, begin watering with plant fertilizer mixed at half-strength.

This kit was a perfect Easter gift for my 3 and 6 year old kids – simple instructions and best of all, no plastic packaging!! Just a cardboard wrap around the metal tin with 3 pucks of growing medium inside and seeds in paper envelopes.
The marigold seeds germinated in 2 days for us! Still waiting on the tomatoes. I would buy this again. Also love that I can reuse the tin!.
I had gotten two of these, one for my 3 year old and one for my 5 year old; while the 5 year old found it very easy to keep everything in their own little area without making a big mess, my 3 year old decided to spread the seeds throughout; not sure if this will affect the flower/tomato as they’re still in the growing stage.
But it’s a nice thing for the kids to look forward to and learn some responsibility.
Super easy. My 6 year old did it completely on her own. My 3 year old needed a bit of help. Our marigolds have already sprouted and it’s been like 5 days. Just a really neat way to expose kids to gardening in a Canadian spring.
This miniature heirloom tomato delivers abundant clusters of half inch fruits with extraordinary flavor. Scatter them on salads, pack them in lunches, pop them in your mouth. Everyone loves them. When grown in a container, Tiny Tim only gets 10″-12″ tall, perfect for small gardens, patios, and windowsills.
You can grow it as a potted plant in a bright window anytime of year. Excellent yields, good taste, charming. Determinate. Super early. 45 days. Germination: Thoroughly moisten your seed-starting mix, and then fill your pots/containers to within 1/2″ of the top.
Place two or three seeds into each small container or each cell of a seed starter. Cover the seed with about 1/4″ of soil. Water to ensure good seed-to-mix contact. You can use a plant mister or just dribble a stream of water over the top.
You don’t need to soak the soil, just moisten the top layer. (You don’t want to heavily water and “push” seeds to deep that they can’t germinate. ) Keep the mix moist but not soaking wet. Lay some plastic kitchen wrap and a rubber band over pots to keep in heat and moisture.
Place the pots in a warm, sunny spot or on top of a heat mat. (Seeds won’t germinate until the soil itself is 75-80 degrees. ) Check pots daily.
Quick shipping and well packaged. Thank you for the additional Black Cherry Tomato gift seeds. They are going to be tried out this year as well! I am excited to be doing container tomato this year, without purchasing the standard plants at local retailers.
With our limited space, container gardening is the best. I would order again without hesitation.
Aloha! Tomato’s look great so far! 90% of the seeds sprouted in the water I was soaking them in. I planted the sprouts in cups with coconut husk growing medium covered with plastic and put them in a window sill and now they are all about an inch tall and happy!.
Fast shipping and everything packaged nicely! Will be sprouting these seeds soon for my aerogarden and also experimenting with the Kratky method for hydroponics! Read these smaller micro dwarf tomatoes do very well in hydroponics and the aerogarden.
Living up to its name, this cherry tomato boasts an extraordinarily high sugar content. A good producer, it grows in bunches if 8-10 tomatoes. Indeterminate.
75 days. Approx. 10,000 seeds/oz. This heirloom cherry tomato has excellent flavor and produces handfuls of 1 inch, sweet, firm fruit. The indeterminate vine will continue to grow over an extended season so you should create a supporting structure for vining growth.
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Before transplanting after the last frost, harden off the plants by placing them outdoors for a few hours at a time and progress to a full day. Tomatoes are a tender plant and particular about temperature.
The optimal range is 55 F to 90 F, outside of that the fruit doesn’t set well and the plants won’t be as healthy. Seed Depth: 1/4 in Spacing (Plant/Row): 2 ft / 4 ft Days to Germ / Maturity: 7 / 75 Hardiness / Light: Tender / Full Sun Spread / Height: 18 in / 4-6 ft.

This is my second Earthbox. The first I used to grow hot peppers. I started with seeds indoors transferred to pots then hardened them before transferring to the Earthbox. I followed the easy instructions and wound up with 4 full pepper plants to include a bountiful Habanero and a Carolina Reaper.
I will do the peppers again next year and use this second box for tomatoes my wife loves. Earthbox makes it very easy and enjoyable growing plants.
Nice system with good instructions and videos how to plant. I bought two sets for myself and my daughter. Will see how vegetables will grow. The only thing I don’t like is how it looks , too industrial.
Painting support system black will make it easy on eye, including netting. Some parts were missing but got email that it will be shipped. For look and missing parts giving 4 stars.
This heirloom variety is perfect for making delicious sauce and tomato paste. Roma yields scarlet fruits that are pear-shaped with thick, meaty flesh and very few seeds. This tomato is a dependable mid-season producer.
As a determinate variety, Roma’s fruits will all ripen at about the same time making it an ideal tomato to grow for canning purposes. Determinate. Disease resistance: VF. 75 days to maturity.
75 days. This easy to grow cherry tomato produces delicious, black/red cherry sized tomatoes on a large vine. Sweet fruits are often described as having a complex, smoky flavor. Another children’s favorite, this cherry makes a great addition to and relish tray or rainbow mix of small fruited tomatoes.
Hi! I’d like to let you know how our harvest went… We planted the seeds in the soil pellets and put about three seeds in each netted seed starter pellets hoping to get at least one plant… 10 pellets per plant type.
We got 100 seedlings! They were conditioned to stay out overnight and then when we put them in the planters, we took the netting off the soil and put the soil directly in the rich soil filled planters.
We ended up with: 2 out of 10 onion plants with no onion growth 7 out of 10 squash with only 12 edible squash-lots of flowers and no more veggie growth 4 out of 10 cucumber plants -2 edible tiny cucumbers -8 more are smaller than my pinky and not growing-lots of flowers and no veggie 3 out of 10 Carrots -have not harvested yet 0 out of 10 rudabegah plants 0 out of 10 Parsnips plants 3 out of 10 tomato-no flowers no fruit 4 out of 10 beets -no underground grow 0 out of 10 pepper plants 0 out of 10 spinach plants I know this is NOT normal as I have grown vegetables before with bountiful harvests in bad soil.
I do know this is VERY DISAPPOINTING. after growing for 3 months – 50% turned out to be ragweed.
Only gave a 4 star review as I haven’t grown them just yet. The service is incredible. I’ve had a few hiccups where they have something listed that I have purchased and haven’t received it do you them overstocking the item.
Other than that, I have been happy with every other aspect of their service. Excited to try planting these. Will update once I have results on plants.
I have had some phenomenal and fast germination rate on these tomatoes, especially in comparison to some of the other tomatoes I started. I’m looking forward to trying a new-to-me variety this year!
Fox Cherry Tomato Seeds. 80 – 90 days to maturity. Lycopersicon esculentum. Open Pollinated. Annual. Indeterminate. With large potato leaves to shield them from the sun, Fox Cherry Tomatoes are an excellent addition to any garden.
These juicy red fruits are the perfect size for a salad or pasta topping! Rich, prolific, and flavorful, Fox Cherry is a delight to have in any garden.
First time buyer from this company and so far not impressed. I’m an experienced greenhouse grower, and planted the Fox seeds along with 20 other varieties from a different seed company. Ten days later all varieties are germinated and growing, not a single Fox seed has germinated.
I have grown Fox tomatoes for 15 years, with seeds from another source and it is always one of the first to germinate. A seed that germinates so far behind will not become a thriving plant. I will replant with seeds sourced from another grower.
Mtn Prides are hardy (blight resistant) and delicious. I’ve had issues with blight since moving to my current neighborhood but these plants have held up well (with regular spraying) and delivered an abundance of excellent tomatoes.
We had enough to share with several neighbors/friends, and canned several quarts for the winter, plus we have eaten on them everyday. Many ripened all within a few days, but we also have more coming along and ripening steadily.
Cal Ace tomato seeds and plants used to be readily available in the 1980’s, but they disappeared when hybrids became popular. Luckily the heirloom varieties are back in style and these beauties are among them.
I have had great success growing these tomatoes in Utah. The plants are productive, the tomatoes taste great, and are good for canning. My favorite tomato to grow.
Sow in spring 1/16 inch deep. Germination takes around 6-14 days at 65-75F. Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 3 inch pots. Grow on under cooler conditions and when about 8 inches tall, either plant in their growing position in the greenhouse or gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions and plant out 18 inches apart in a warm and sunny spot in moist, fertile well drained soil and keep watered.
Indeterminate tomatoes will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost. They can reach heights of up to 12 feet although 6 feet is normal. Indeterminates will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season.
They require substantial staking for support and benefit from being constrained to a central growing stem. Professional DEFRA licenced Quality Seed Supply only – Minimal packaging – Ziplock labelled bags – Instructions not attached – See details provided above for cultivation advice.
RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) A very heavy cropping F1 cherry variety producing huge amounts of cherry sized extra sweet bright red fruits. A robust variety it will perform well under glass or outdoors in a sunny sheltered location.
I chose these seeds as my first ever attempt to grow tomato plants. The seeds were very small and I had a bit of a problem picking them out of the packet to sow them. It was more of a problem with my eyesight than the seeds.
The soil was freshly dug and I put in a cane with every seed planted and awaited the result. The seeds did start coming through and I weeded around them and they developed into tall strong plants, As they grew I tied them loosely to the canes and shortly they all started to flower, large clusters of yellow flowers.
But then disaster struck, we had torrential rain and high winds and the plants took a beating. I removed the broken and battered parts and hoped that all would be well but then they all turned black and died, I assume some type of blight.
And so ended my tomato growing. I’ll stick to my sarpo mira spuds, no blight with these, just need to keep the badgers out of the garden.
These tomatoes are easy to grow and produce so many tomatoes will definitely keep you well fed and more than enough to freeze and enjoy through the winter months too. I am really pleased and can not recommend them enough, as I have to everyone else on the allotments.
Brilliant, just brilliant but be prepared to cane them well as the amount they produce will pull the plants over. Lovely, juicy, sweet little tomatoes.
No doubt the seeds will be OK but the price is out of this world. Whoever thought that cucumber seeds would be almost 1 each!!! This is blatent exploitation and I will carefully watch the progress of each of the seeds and take full advantage of my right to have duds replaced.
If I thought it was a quick job I would weigh each seed and compare the weight with the current price of 14 ct gold.
These seeds were very prolific! I had 57 tomato plants from one seed packet. I shared my plants with several neighbors. I had many tomatoes! so many tomatoes! The tomatoes were meaty and delicious. One of the best tomatoes that I have ever had.
We haven’t even planted them yet. We had plants, from Sedan, KS, last year, and really liked the tomatoes. My complaint is that there were 84 seeds in the package which should have had 100.
Tamayo R Tomatillo produces very large 2-1/2 in. to 3 in. intense green fruits that have a juicy sweet-tart taste and are delightfully crunchy. Vigorous, healthy plants produce loads of delicious fruit.
Approximately 15 seeds per packet. Ready to harvest in 65 days.
This is by far the best tomatillo seed I have ever grown. 3 plants were way more than we can eat and store. Gave plenty away and still producing. Produces such a heavy crop you need to tie up the branches or they will snap off.
Yes branches since they are so thick. The stem looks like a small tree trunk and the tomatoes are twice as big as store bought. Early spring I was plagued with some fungus. While most of the garden suffered the tomatillo plant thrived.
It can easily out grew insect bites until you can get it under control. I planted 3 in an 8’x2. 5′ raised bed 2 would of worked better. I might plant just one next year but I’ll put it in her ground since it so vigorous.
Much bigger than in stores, hardy, self-seeding, disease free. Delicious! The first year, I pulled most of them out because they look like common garden weeds. One plant produced and some of its seeds made it into the compost.
The following year there were volunteers. The third year, I pulled them out everywhere they were not wanted. We made eight gallons of salsa verde and donated three bushels to the food bank. Delicious in salsa verde or roasted on the grill.
I kept only 3 plants and gave away the rest. I had many, many tomatillos from those 3 plants! Made 4 big batches of green sauce (salsa verde). We ate the sauce so fast (and gave away some, too) that we never saved any for winter! Great on chicken, etc.
76 days. A consistent and reliable performer in hot, humid areas. Plants are very productive with good disease resistance. The pink-red fruits average 3/4 to 1-/12 pounds when well grown and have that real old-fashioned tomato flavor.
An excellent tomato for sandwiches, and is a good canning tomato as well. Fruits have few seeds, and crack less than most other larger heirloom tomatoes. Large indeterminate vine.
Its only March so I can not rate the fruit, but the seeds had 100% germination and germinated in 7 days. The pots were on a heat mat. Seedlings look strong. Ordering was easy and the seeds arrived quickly.
Very pleased with the 100% seed germination rate 😊. Just transplanted into growing pots for the next 5-6 weeks. The plants took the transplant very well. Looking forward to the produce.
Popular “grape-type” tomato to grow in your garden. Small, sweet, red tomatoes grow in clusters of 15 to 30 fruits like grapes. The red, oblong-shaped tomatoes are crack resistant, holding on the indeterminate vines for days.
Perfect size for salads or eating whole. Fantastic flavor! Disease tolerant to V, FF, A, ST.
Ferry Morse is a brand I trust. I got majority of my seeds at the end of the season two years ago when my store was throwing them away. I had a very successful germination rate. My garden is thriving.
I already harvested my first batch of radishes. And have a second set halfway ready and planted new seeds today. They only take a month to grow!.
These seeds were started in April and as of July 31 we have green big cucumbers. I love that it’s the start of garden vegetable season. These grew rather quickly and also sprouted very quickly

I purchased these for next season, won’t know how they work until then, but I am happy with what experience I have with your company so far. Keep up the good work.
You haven’t tasted real tomatoes until you’ve had tomatoes on the vine. Tomatoes stay on the vine so that they can continue ripening until they reach their peak maturity. One bite and you’ll see that tomatoes on the vine are known for their quality flavor and texture.
To enjoy these tomatoes at their best, do not refrigerate them but instead keep them on the counter out of direct sunlight. What Can I Do With Tomatoes? Make the best BLT sandwich with these tomatoes as the star.
You can also try your hand at pico de gallo, tomato bisque, Caprese salad, gazpacho, salads and homemade tomato sauce.
Something seriously wrong with this batch. The seeds were growing inside the tomato. They must have been sitting somewhere a long time for this to happen. At first cut I thought the tomato was full of worms, but they were not moving & I realized it was the seeds sprouting.
This is for the Medford location! Why don’t you do your job?! You should not have produce that is starting to rot left out to be sold! I was unfortunate enough to buy one because I didn’t have my reading glasses and it was 8 am in the morning, you had all your lights turned down low.
Shame on you, leaving it out to be sold! The peppers too! I had to cut off the bad parts!.

This is an easy plug and play kind of herb garden. It’s so simple to start your own garden. No real work is involved just pay attention to the alerts from the blinking lights letting you know more water should be added.
Seriously that’s all you need to do. I plugged it in at 6am and it turns off automatically around 10:30pm. It’s small enough to fit on your counter and large enough to produce a realistic amount of natural fresh herbs.
I do wish that the tabs that you place with the type of herb you are growing were plastic and not the end of the cardboard box. It would just look better on your garden. I made labels to perfect the look I wanted.
