20 Best Tomato Sauce For Lasagna (2023 Updated)

I use this sauce for making pasta sauces. For spaghetti, lasagna, anything that needs a tomota sauce. It’s delicious! My whole family (even the kids) love it! Just add a few spices that you prefer in your pasta sauce, let it simmer for a little while and it always comes out perfect! It’s definetely the best tasting canned tomatoes we’ve ever had.

So many yummy ingredients and they come together perfectly!.

No other brand compares. I love to add some fennel and ground Italian sausage to it. I like it with fettechini. At $ 1. 58 from Walmart it is a steal. Not all Walmarts carry it however. I believe it is the same as your spagetti sauce that you discontinued.

I was heart broken till I found this one.

Product totally unusable, all cans very damaged, had to be disposed of!!

Honestly I have been buying this sauce for years and continue to be impressed. I started buying it because other sauces like ragu and Prego had a lot of added sugar, salt, preservatives, etc. I could not figure out why my skin would have a reaction and break out if u ate too much spaghetti, and now I know it is because of those other sauce brands.

I have no problems with skin breakouts with yo mamas. I will say that the sauce is like a clean sheet when you get it. I like that because it is so basic and clean, I can doctor it up with spices and herbs and toppings that I like.

I usually add basil, oregano, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, a bit of hot sauce, parmesan cheese, and some honey to my sauce and let it slow simmer before adding it to my pasta. I think this sauce would be difficult to eat without doctoring it up.

But I like that I can add my preferred amount of salt/honey instead of the other sauce brands that add salt/sugar in large quantities.

Flavor was nothing special. I’ve tried making low sodium sauce myself. I’ve purchased low sodium plain tomato sauce, chopped my own onions, added bell pepper, garlic powder and spent a lot of time. It was about the same as this – not too exciting and a lot more work.

Low sodium is low sodium and it will take time to make the transition. In the meantime, I’ve chopped up onions and bell pepper to add a bit more “oomph” to Yo Mama’s sauce. Bottom line: it’s about the same flavor as what I can make and it takes less time.

Adding onions and a bit of water to thin it helps. (also a tiny bit of Truvia, right before serving individual portion, and red pepper flakes if you want a bit of heat. ).

I wanted to try the Dolmio sauces to save the effort of cooking my own and to avoid the ready made lasagne in plastic tray (for a change). Just like it said on the jars, I browned 500g mince beef and added the tomatoes sauce.

Placed a layer of tomatoes and beef sauce in a tray, a layer of lasagne sheets and a layer of creamy sauce. Repeated two times more, then grated some cheese on top of all that. Used a whole jar of tomatoes and one of creamy sauce in the process, I wasn’t sure but I made layers about equaly thick and so used all sauces.

I was quite satisfied of how it looked and thought it wasn’t too difficult, considering my very limited cooking experience. I couldn’t remember how much it all cost so while lasagne was baking in the oven I had a look online.

Found the sauces at ASDA where I thought I bought them a while ago and the 2 star overall rating caught my attention. I started reading all the negative reviews and was loosing hope about the dinner.

We decided we were going to order pizza as our kids are extremely fussy anyway and there was no way they were going to eat my lasagne. So I took it out of the oven, we all sniffed it to get that sick smell before we put it in our mouths, but it smelled and looked perfect.

Still not convinced we split it between the four of us but only tasted a very little bit, to avoid a big mouthful of “sick”. Luckily there was none of it. It was just fine and everyone of us cleared their plate.

Now I am not saying that there is no better lasagne out there, but it surely isn’t nowhere near as bad as the reviews suggest. Just like myself, probably people would rather share their negative experiences and don’t bother to give positive feedback – even I don’t know why I made an exception this time.

So I would say never mind if I liked it or not, but if my kids enjoyed lasagne made with Dolmio tomato and creamy sauces then it can’t be that bad. In fact it tasted really nice.

Taste is good. I bought this before, and it doesn’t stay well for long in the fridge. Also, the cap doesn’t close securely. If you turn the cap clockwise, it will close and open again, even if you press down on the cap.

That’s not good. As a result, I would not buy or recommend this item.

Sauce is fantastic, gave it 5 stars, but shame on Walmart! They have a problem and have not fixed it!! Like others, I only got 6 bottles not 12 that I paid for. Person I talked to at Walmart was no help at all.

Still trying to get the missing bottles! Or money back!! Beware!!!.

I’m always in the market for a natural no sugar added great tasting pasta sauce. While it’s a little on the pricey side, it’s well worth the money as it is amazing. When I was simmering it, the smell was so tantalizing, I thought I was in an Italian restaurant.

(it’s definitely restaurant quality) So far I’ve only tried it with some lean ground beef but the next time around, I’m going to try it with some healthy Italian-seasoned turkey sausage or some seasoned meatballs, I think that’s going to make it even better than it was the first time (if that’s possible).

I would HIGHLY recommend this delicious sauce. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

This is the best pasta sauce ever!! It is clean, delicious, no added sugar and considered one of the best for you. I’m afraid it’s been discontinued. I’ve been using this for years. I guess my search will be on for a replacement.

This pasta sauce is so good! I have problems with some tomato based sauces because they can oftentimes give me heartburn. This doesn’t taste like a typical pasta sauce. it tastes more like a delicious tomato and basil soup.

I love that it is organic AND that there is no sugar added to it, because you’d be surprised as to just how much sugar is hiding in a regular jar of pasta sauce. This tastes very authentic, like someone’s Italian grandma spent all day making it.

It is wonderful. I am so happy that there is no sugar or corn syrup or any other fancy names that still mean sugar. I used to make homemade, but it still needed sugar (even with organic tomatoes). It is delicious.

It is not as sweet as what I used to make, however, I don’t want the addicting and fat producing sugar nor the inflammatory making oils. It is an excellent sauce. I haven’t found better.

I don’t usually do this, but this sauce is sooooo good. I am Italian and have never used a jarred sauce. My grandmother is turning in her grave knowing I started using this sauce. During the pandemic, I needed as much room in my freezer as possible for meat.

I have always made a huge pot of sauce and froze it in ball jars in my freezer. I use Lucini olive oil. It’s great! One day I was at Walmart during the pandemic and thought, Let me just look at the pasta sauces.

I was so surprised to find Lucini has pasta sauce. I tried it and we love it. Of course my daughter could not believe I bought jarred sauce. We have tried several different flavors. We have not been disappointed.

Now, I know I’m going to have to make my sauce again soon, but if you weren’t raised making your own sauce or need it in a pinch, this is a wonderful tasting sauce. You can’t go wrong with this sauce.

I found this item at a local Store when I was shopping for my lasagna ingredients it seemed really expensive but I was curious so I decided to try it when I got home I opened it up and tasted it it was the best marinara sauce I had ever bought! My lasagna turned out so good people were asking me for the recipe I went back to the store to buy more but there wasn’t any.

I made lasagna again for friends but had to make it without this Marinera and it just didn’t taste the same not even close I went online and purchased 12 so I would be sure to have some on hand I’m going to try it with my spaghetti can’t wait:).

This is the absolute best marinara sauce available in the USA in my opinion. Straight out of the box, or jazzed up a little with some sauteed onions, bell peppers, a few rinsed and drained chickpeas or kidney beans for added protein and it’s fabulous.

I was so glad to be able to order this from Walmart since I could no longer buy it locally anywhere.

Pomi marinara can be used straight out of the box. It tastes like fresh tomatoes. It is imported from Italy, and tastes truly Italian and perfectly seasoned. I used to buy it all the time, then suddenly no one carried it.

I’m happy to find it again at Wal-Mart.

Looks great, affordable. Rides quiet. Have not driven in the rain or make extensive use of it yet. I’m pretty happy with it

This is the best Marinara Sauce available. It can stand alone, but can be combined with any number of meats or vegetables. It has a richness that others do not. Im thrilled to have found a reliable source for DellAmore.

This is our favorite sauce and we were so happy to find it at Walmart at a reasonable price. Having it shipped to our home made this purchase easy.

I was hesitant but excited to try it. I don’t like Ragu Sauces, they are really sweet. Dang, it was delicious! I have to say Im impressed with Ragu Simply Traditional Sauce. I cooked Hot Hungarian Wax peppers stuffed with hot sausage in it.

My family didn’t believe me when I told them it was Ragu, I had to show them the jar. The fact there’s no sugar added and made with Olive Oil makes it taste like my Italian families homemade sauce. I’ll be buying this often the seasonings are perfectly blended but leaves room to doctor it up to your liking.

Faithful Ragu consumers probably will not enjoy it but I think Ragu will gain many more consumers by catering to both types of sauce eaters. If you haven’t tried it do so. I recommend and price is right.

Wow! Two thumbs up! Let me start by saying I am a sauce snob and prefer my homemade sauce. That being said, I was totally shocked at how good this sauce tasted! I only tried it because of the low price in comparison to the other brands I like (and there aren’t many.

) Plus, I know other picky family members have used this sauce. I was certainly surprised by the taste. There were no funny tastes that do not belong and it was actually quite flavorful. Seeing that the brands I used to purchase regularly have doubled or tripled in price, you have a new customer.

The ingredients are wholesome, there is no sugar added, the taste passes my picky tastebuds and the price is right! Plus no need to make homemade sauce in these sweltering heatwaves! My only tiny complaint is that I wish the jar was a little larger.

I used to make my own and this is better. It is not as hot as I like, which is fine since you can add crushed peppers to taste. It has a bright flavor. When I bought the Private Selection Kroger brand, it was dead.

This is excellent. I highly recommend it and pleased to have found it. I ordered the Puttanesca by the same make (excellent) and needed a few bottles to get the free shipping. I’ll now order the Arrabbiatta just because it is so good.

Meh. Nothing special. Fairly bland. Expensive for the relatively small jar. There are better pasta sauces for less money.

I absolutely LOVE this Cucina & Amore Puttanesca sauce, and honestly do not believe I could make it at home with this quality of ingredients for this cost. Sure, sodium is higher than I would like but it contains olives, a few types, so that is totally to be expected and would be the same or worse if made at home.
