20 Best Toenail Clippers For Dogs (2023 Updated)

We owned these nail trimmers for a few months before we had to replace them, and this time, I think we’ll likely try out a different brand. My Elkhound’s nails seem to be thicker and less brittle than my Chihuahua mix’s and other dogs’ nails, therefore don’t break in a clean, one-and-done snap.

These trimmers, while adequately sharp for most nails, didn’t tend to create a clean edge to my Elkhound’s nails. They would at times swerve “softer” and cut less than I was aiming for because they met continued resistance at my dog’s nails, or else cut a smaller bit of the nail off.

I’ll be looking for perhaps sharper or quicker nail trimmers as I move forward. The grip is fairly comfortable, and the spring is strong enough you don’t have to worry about getting caught mid-cut on a nail and causing discomfort for you and your dog.

The lock function has never once malfunctioned in all the time we’ve owned them, and the trimmers open and close smoothly without too much or little resistance. They seem to be quality trimmers, just don’t work for my particular dog.

Not sure what size to get for your pup? Options are Small/Medium or Medium/Large. Ordered a small/medium. In photo it shows Small/Medium on packaging. When package arrived the packaging only said small.

Trimmers way too small for our “medium” pup but great for our smaller dog. Tried to return for the item we chose only to have them tell us we ordered a small. That’s not what packaging stated. So they were going to send us the Medium/Large at higher price and shipping.

(Thankfully we got to keep our donate the small clippers) When the new clippers arrived the packaging once again did not match the photo/product on website. The product that’s arrived was Same brand different packaging size Large.

I understand dogs nails can be in between both. Buy neither work well for our medium dog. Update your photos/packaging so not misleading.

I’ve only used these a couple times so far, but pleased. Sliced cleanly and easily through their claws, comfortable to use. I bought the medium/large size to replace an old pair I was using. For size reference, my dogs are Australian shepherds weighing 42 and 48 pounds.

Over the years, I’ve had a couple petite aussie gals weighing in at only 32-34 pounds (now sadly gone). I still would have used the medium/large size for them, even though supposedly this size should be for dogs weighing 50+ pounds.

One thing to keep in mind when using these, is that as the claw is trimmed, it makes a loud pop. My girls are very used to having their claws trimmed, but were a little startled by the noise, as it was much louder than the previous trimmers.

It does leave a sharp claw, so I follow up with a dremel to smooth out the edges.

As a dog trainer I’m used to using a dremel at work and bought this version as just a back up at home for my own dogs (2 poms, a keeshond, a GSD, and a crested for different size references). This paw control version of the dremel is pretty awful quality and lasted less than a year.

It’s also gone up significantly in price in that time. Yes, it takes most dogs a while to become used to the dremel feeling and sound so for most people this is going to be a slow process that typically ends up being worth it- if you have a better version of a dremel.

This started off quiet and would hold charge for all of my dogs. I’ve used this dremel maybe once or twice a month and after maybe 6 months it is extremely loud on every setting and only holds charge for 2 of my smaller dogs or just for my GSD.

The guard is an absolute joke for all sizes of dogs but especially my smallest 6-10 lb pups. There is a 2 year warranty but after you pay to ship it back, you might as well buy a whole new one.

This is my 3rd Dremel for nail grinding in the 20+ years I’e had dogs. First was corded, 2nd was an earlier version of this. I have a basset hound with very thick wolf nails! I have been using the grinder without the clear guard, I”m finding it easier that way.

For dogs with thinner nails, or cats(?) the guard probably would work as well. What I like about this product: Cordless. 4 speeds (avoid the high speed). Sanding band or disc option. Much easier to avoid cutting the quick than a clipper, even with black nails.

And unlike some of the other nail grinding products on here you can use this for other Dremel uses! Hints:Just take a bit off at a time until your dog gets used to it, watch some videos online on how to do it, and do it outside so that the dust from grinding dissipates if you are using it without the guard.

I leave her leash on, step on it to keep her from trying to walk off.

I have used this about half a dozen times since I purchased it a few weeks ago. I like it very much, so far. Since my Aussies are Toy size (20 and 25 lbs) I do not use the guard. I use the barrel shaped sanding attachment and it works great.

I have used a Pedi Paws for many years and it is too bulky, chews through C batteries and it takes too long to do the job due to RPMS not high enough. Really glad I found this. I have been thinking about using my regular Dremel tool but the cord is always in the way doing dog nails.

I wish it came with several barrel replacement heads. The Pedi Paws provided so many that I have never run out of them. A side benefit. I decided to use it on my calluses on my feet. IT WORKS WAY BETTER THAN THE PRODUCTS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR HUMANS.

I order from chewy probably 2 times a month for meds and a toy and I am a frequent food auto-ship and never have had an issue I do love ordering from Chewy, it’s not you directly. I needed a strong clipper.

The one I have used for years had finally broken, this didn’t even make it through one dog nail and I know my dogs nails are pretty thick but this was the same style as the other one. I was not going to buy a different brand than the last but honestly I just needed something to add to get the free shipping.

It was a mistake honestly, this didn’t even work through one nail and the spring is already broken. Fully disappointed and wish I didn’t pay for this junk.

I have been buying this same nail clipper for years. When Foster & Smith was selling it, it was green and a very sharp nail clipper. Soon Chewy had the same clipper, but it was yellow and not as sharp.

I just purchased two last week. They are so dull, I can hardly cut my golden retrievers nails. It pinches the nail, instead of cutting. It seems like the manufacturer is cutting corners and not making the same quality nail clipper, that they used to.

I’ve had this product for at least 1 year and I’ve had no issues with them. We have 4 dogs, 3 bulldogs with softer nails and 1 Airedale mix with very tough nails and it gets through them all great! I also enjoy that there’s no loud clicks when you’re cutting the nails so even the ones who hate their nails clipped sit better (they still hate it but they’re better).

Would 100% purchase again.

I have been looking for clippers that my just one year old Golden Retriever will not jump away from. Being able to adjust how much nail is clipped at any one time is very important, and these work perfectly.

I worked with him for several days playing with him while the clippers near his toes, then touching his toes, then lightly grabbing the nails with the clippers without clipping, and then finally clipping just a little at a time.

He was VERY skittish at first, but as time has gone by he’s getting more and more used to them, and I can clip a little more each day. It’s now a daily thing, clipping only one or two nails at a time.

Based on the description, I thought these would be better than the scissor like ones I have been using. The sharpness would make it quick and easy and the handle would be easier to hold. However, when I use these on my cats they react as if I hurt them when I am not cutting the quick on their nails.

The spring on the other trimmer was malfunctioning and it is not very sharp. But they tolerate me with those rather than using this. I can’t explain why. Maybe they are not as sharp as advertised.

Having used other brands, I thought I would try a different type of nail clipper. I have a large Working Line GSD with very large, sharp claws and splitting has been a real issue requiring me to use three different types of clippers for each nail trim.

The Zen Clipper arrived this morning and I half heartedly gave it a try – it very pleasantly provided an easy, precise trim with no discomfort to my dog at all! I am so pleased. I do hope they will make them in a larger size as I currently have the wheel sat as wide as it will go but it works and I will probably order a couple of more pair for our other dog and for his travel bag.

Great product. Highly recommend if you have a large dog with very serious claws and you are a novice. Wasn’t sure I would be crazy about setting the cut with a wheel but it makes it 100% easier and I especially love that feature.

Cutting my dogs nails is not what I call a good time. Try to keep them from moving and hope you don’t cut too deep into the nail bed. Freaks me out. Now these clippers will not help with a wiggly pet but they do help get the job done quickly and stop you from cutting too much.

I can only get about 2 nails at a sitting before she realizes what I am doing but for those 2 nails. it’s a quick smooth job.

Cuts Nice and clean and has a good feel to it the only reason I can’t give it five stars is the overcut guard is pretty deep and generally you’ll cut into the quick if you use it without some kind of buffer.

If they would have a model that had an adjustable depth cut guard it would be worth twice the money as this one. But this one is good quality.

Very comfortable to hold. The guide is a great benefit for us novices. I never cut my dog’s nails before, so I was nervous. I watched You Tube & I also practiced on plastic forks. It all really helped.

I’m really disappointed in these. I went to buy a new pair of the Millers Forge red handle clippers that I’ve really liked, but they were unavailable. So I decided to try these and I should’ve just ordered the other ones from Amazon.

These are very hard to cut with and my hand was sore so fast from having to brace my dog’s paw as I tried to cut their nails. Something about the blade makes it extremely difficult to do smaller cuts which is what I prefer to do since I trim nails weekly.

My dogs really did not like the added pressure these clippers put on their nails. Don’t recommend these at all. Ironically, when I went to write this review I saw the red handle clippers are back in stock, so I’ll be ordering those now.

During the pandemic, my dogs had been booked at the groomers for a bath and nail clip, but with all the lock down measures, I was rescheduled 3 times. After a few months I finally decided that I couldn\’t wait for the groomers and had to cut their nails myself.

I dug out a guillotine-style set of clippers and started on my 11 year old English Setter. After only cutting a few nails, the third one split in half. He flinched and pulled his paw away. I felt so bad and called it a night.

I then called my vet and asked them what kind they use, and they use Millers Forge clippers. I immediately looked them up and went out that same day and bought this pair. I love that these are heavy duty stainless steel, made in Italy, and recommended by veterinarians (literally).

I purchased these nail clippers because the reviews were so good. Don’t know what happened to the manufacturing process, but they are a total WASTE of MONEY and effort! I have a 120 pound mix-breed pup who is incredibly calm (stereotypical sweet, big dog.

Bought these many months ago and have been using them regularly since my puppy is quite anxious, we’ve only seen the groomer once. I’ve never cut dogs nails before so I was very nervous but these have been great and we haven’t had anything go wrong! She tends to bite at her nails and paws a lot (sensitive skin causes her to bite if I don’t clean them daily) so there are rare times that her nails have chipped or fracture slightly.

It’s always a worry for me but these clippers have never failed to make a clean cut, even on nails that look much worse for wear. I highly recommend these, especially for the price! Unfortunately last week, the grip began to slip off while I was cutting her nails so I had to fully adjust how I hold them in order to finish cutting her nails.

I’m not sure if I just got an unlucky pair, they get worn down very fast, or that these simply have a relatively short longevity. I read they were supposed to last a couple years if maintained well but it seems I’ll be ordering new ones very soon.

These worked for me in a pinch when I was super broke, but now that I can afford better ones I’m tossing these. They are sharp, and they stayed sharp for about two years of intermittent trimming. They still slice cleanly through the nails of our Border Jack, English Staffordshire Terrier, and Pitbull.

However, there are a lot of cons. The handles are very small and don’t give a good sense of control. Not just small, but thin and flat. It feels like there’s nothing to hold on to. I’ve had to do a lot of awkward angles to see the dog’s nails AND feel confident snipping without worrying about the clippers slipping or twisting in my hand.

The red grips slide off the handles as you squeeze them, so you have to stop to push them back on. The nail guard does not stay put. It is way too loose and just swings out of the way from gravity alone.

I’ve never been able to use it. The blades started rusting after about 6 months of being stored in dry areas. I can’t recommend these clippers unless you are really broke and really need clippers. They are the cheapest clippers I’ve ever seen, both in price and in quality.

The consistent problem of large dog nail clippers creating a loud clipping sound when squeezing them shut often wakes him up and I only ever get to a few nails at a time if I’m lucky. These trimmers were a game changer.

Being a medium size trimmer, I was skeptical that they would be able to handle nails his size, but I was so wrong! They slice smoothly and silently through his nails like a hot knife through butter, which allows me to get through most of his nails before he slips back out of his REM cycle.

The safety stop can be a bit of a pain if you tend to flick your wrist after trimming, since it will slide into position with this movement, but I’ve learned to keep my wrist still and it really hasn’t been an issue.

I can’t believe I wasted so much time and money on various large nail trimmers that had to be replaced every few months. These affordable little guys really pack a punch and make trimming my boxer’s nails a breeze.

At the price alone I’d recommend anyone with a dog this size to give them a whirl.

These are perfect. They’re small and look like scissors, which she’s already used to from grooming, so I feel these are much less traumatic for both of us.

With my first cat, I didn’t want to spend too much on any one product since I didn’t know what would work and what wouldn’t. Turns out he did enough scratching on his cat scratchers that he didn’t need his nails trimmed regularly.

Then I got a second cat, and his nails do get long. They are also thick. I struggled to cut his nails with this clipper. If I pushed down hard enough it did work, but it leaves a jagged edge and puts a lot of pressure on the nail.

This is my first time ever attempting to cut a cats nails so I bought these because cheap, but reviews gave me hope that they were easy to use. Well they werent lying! I was sweating bullets while I was clipping my cats nails today because I was worried Id accidentally hurt him.

These clippers were easy to hold and comfortable in my hand. They cut like a breeze and I didnt have to put too much pressure like you would with human nail clippers. I didnt hurt my cat and it took me like 2 min to clip his front nails while had him wrapped in a blanket and secured firmly in my arms.

If I can do it, trust me you can do it too. Ill have more confidence next time now that I know its a lot easier and I have the right tool. Definitely a great purchase!.

So first of all: don’t be like me and try to trim your cat’s claw by yourself. You may not get scratched if you know when to back off, but backing off also doesn’t get the nails clipped! That said, as someone who definitely attempts to clip the claws solo, the guillotine-style clippers are a huge mistake.

Every time I had a good grasp on the clippers, the cat would start squirming. Which meant I had to put down the clippers to readjust her and then find my grip on the clippers again. Which gave her time to get antsy again.

it was a cycle. Even if I did get her still and found my grip, I couldn’t quite see what I was doing or find the pressure I needed to cut through quickly and without splintering the tip. Y’all. Get you some scissor-style clippers.

I can’t say this is 5 stars because they’re better than any other scissor-style, but simply for the fact that they changed my absolute entire life, no hyperbole. I can keep hold of where they’re comfortable on my fingers even if I have to take a break to reposition Query.

With the other clippers it was difficult to be sure I was clipping in the right place without getting close to the claw first, and Query would start tugging away when she felt something touching her; not so with these! She still tugs a bit, but it’s so much easier to see where I need to clip and get in position correctly even with the clippers open wide! I’d recommend these even if you have help (why make things harder on yourself just because you can?) but especially if you’re be going to be trying alone.

Still have to do it two or three (if she’s feeling generous) claws at a time, but at least they’re getting done. Even if it’s not these, seriously. At least look into this style. (But I do have to say, these work and are cheap, so even if you end up not liking these in particular, it’s better than trying an expensive pair first and not liking those and having to then try out the cheap pair.

I prefer these nail trimmers for my small dog because they’re extremely sharp. I can shave millimeters of nail at a time, which means if I’m paying attention I don’t quick him. Actually, I haven’t since I purchased this brand.

The “medium” size is actually pretty small. It works for my small hand with my small dog, but I’m not sure how it would fair for a pup over 20 LBS with much larger nails. I never use the guard on the back, but I’m sure it’s good for someone.

Definitely better than the safari brand which never comes sharp enough and seems to grind while trimming. My dog is always calmer with these JW Pet clippers because they’re sharper, steadier in my hand, extremely comfortable to squeeze.

and I think all that combined makes him more comfortable.

Super easy to use and does a great job at keeping my pup’s nails healthy. I found this nail clipper at my local pet store for $6. 99 plus tax and was a bit hesitant because it’s the first time I have clipped my dog nail with a clipper and they did an amazing job.

I did not cause any pain to my dog. It has a nail guard to make sure you don’t get too close to the nail bed. Also has has blade lock and the handles have a nice grip to it.

Wanted to like these clippers because of the price and reviews, but the blades are very dull right out of the package. Crushed my dog’s nails instead of cutting them. The cheap, neglected set of 15 year-old clippers hanging in my pantry are sharper and still do a much better job than these.

Bought these to replace my old small jw comfy pet nail trimmers. I liked those much better but they were out of stock. With those I could take slivers of nail off, these are comparable, but not quite as good.

I’ve heard the jw ones went down in quality recently, I hope that is not the case.

Wonderful! I had the small size for my 2 eight pound poodles. It worked so well, I recently purchased the Large Doggyman Nail Trimmer for my 58 pound Standard poodle. I am so glad I bought it. Neither I nor my Standard poodle mind it if I clip his toenails now.

These are very sharp and work very well on different size nails. However, If I had it to do over I would not have ordered them. The only issue I have is with the handels. They slip out of my hands and are very hard to hold on too since they don’t have rubber grips.

I do love the quality and the fact they don’t have a guard ( it only gets in the way ).

The blade is sharp and the clippers well made. I recommend guillotine style clippers for thicker nails, I tried the other style and it would twist her toe and hurt her. I also tried this style, but a different brand and the blade was cheap and dull, the handle was plastic and it felt like it would break in my hands.

I’m happy to find something well constructed and built to last. I also like that I can buy replacement blades, because sharp blades are essential to clipping your dog’s nails without hurting them. Great product, I love it.

This is a high quality, well-constructed, all-metal product. I paid $15. 49 for them with free shipping. Not cheap but the quality is worth the price. Plus you can purchase new cutting blades if/when you need to so it never gets dull.

The only thing I don’t like (and why I gave this a 4 instead of a 5) is that the handles are very smooth and my hand/ grip slid on them (my dog wiggles as he doesn’t like his nails clipped!). But I fixed that by putting a piece of masking tape along the outer, center ridge of each handle.

So this product could be improved with a non-slip grip or rubber-covered handles. (Have also thought about painting the outer surfaces of the handles with a product like Flex Seal if that would stick to the slick metal surface).

I like this style of cutter (guillotine) vs. a pliers-style cutter as it is easier to slice thin pieces off the nail, working back toward the quick. I feel this puts less pressure on the nail — even the pressure of cutting the dead part of the nail feels painful to my dog (a Chihuahua).

Note: if your dog is calm enough, you can line the back of the device (the bottom surface in the picture shown), against the dog’s foot pad which angles the cutter correctly. Also you don’t have to cut right down to the quickinstead cut relatively close and wait a weekthe quick recedes; then you can clip again and the quick will recede more.

Repeat until quick is back where it belongs. Clipping more frequently keeps the quick at bay so the dog’s nails stay shorter.

I’ve never clipped dog nails, nor have I ever had to with my Sheltie. As she’s gotten older and not spending as much time outside, wearing her nails down, I’ve had to resort to having the vet clip her nails.

(She hates having her feet touched!) Well, as time has gone on, her mobility has continued to be an issue, and I purchased a product that goes over the tips of the nails so she can grip the floor. With that, I needed clippers to make sure her nails were just long enough for the nail tips.

If you have any doubts about these clippers, please read our review. We have a 122 lb. Giant Alaskan Malamute mix. Will not let you touch her paws. The only time her nails get clipped is knocked out in the vet’s office.

We decided to try these clippers and see if we could do this ourselves. I got a treat that I knew my dog would absolutely freak out for, in our case 2 sugar cookies broken into little pieces. First, my husband and I spent 10 minutes petting her and loving on her and let her smell and look at the clippers.

Then. I gave her a piece of sugar cookie. She was mesmerized, I had her undivided attention. My husband then began clipping. She never flinched and didn’t even seem to notice. Every time she would look at what he has doing I would feed her another little piece of cookie while talking to her the whole time.

In 5 minutes every nail was clipped and there was no stress or trauma for us or our dog. These clippers are very sharp and you don’t have to apply very much pressure to make a clean cut immediately. These are a great product and thanks to Tractor Supply for carrying them.

Comfortable grip. Easy close for snipping the nails. Cut through my dog’s nails with ease. No delay with the snip whatsoever. There is no nail guard, but I prefer that, because other trimmers would sometimes trap the nail between the blades and the nail length guide piece, which could be painful for the dog.

This was exactly what I thought it was and worked perfect. As an added bonus, this is one of the cheapest trimmers I’ve seen. If you are looking for a pair, just try these. You won’t be disappointed.

Since my old dog doesn’t move around like he used to his nails weren’t wearing down naturally anymore so I decided to try these. They worked great! It only took a few minutes and he hardly fussed. He is an 85 pound GSD.

I purchased these clippers based on the reviews of them being great for large dogs. My dog has thick black nails and these are one step above completely useless. I have to apply a ton of pressure just to cut through the nail, and these are so dull that the end of the nail always splinters off instead of cutting clean through.

They arrived this way and are not dull from use. Absolute waste of money.

I rescued a dog. Got these clippers. I already knew he has brittle, dry nails and his nails hadn’t been clipped for a long time. That if I had problems he would have to go to a vet. Possible fungal infection.

He doesn’t have one after a lot of money paying a vet and pain for him with several other clippers. He was hurt by guillotine types and others. He has these brittle nails from being not get properly.

I was told to buy these. I put treats in them and gave them to him. He’s a dog with Beagle, Pit, Bassett, or dachsund. short but stocky with black nails. These Miller’s Forge cut through quickly but after a paw and a half he got upset and whomever having abused and also neglected his nails didn’t make this easier because I had to get someone to help hold him down in blankets and plenty of love and reassurance.

We got them clipped down. He jerked on back paw and I had to use stryptic powder because one of them got cut too short. These clippers made the clipping easier on my dog by far. They are easy to use.

They didn’t cut through like slicing through butter as some say because his nails are brittle. They didn’t crush but clipped off breaking into pieces because their so dry and brittle. So, excellent quality clippers I know them to be but any would hurt him.

These made it mucheasier for me and him although he hated it. I will redo every 10 days until the quick ( vein of blood ) in his nails recede back more and more as the nails get shorter. I’ve bought him better food and biotin supplement.

I will have him checked out again at Vet later this year for nail bed infections etc. but I think it was from him being underweight and not fed everyday as does the Vet. I recommend these for those who have medium sized dogs but a man with big hands may want to buy the larger size for easier use for them.

These are sharp because I used them on another dog and they cut quick, cleanly and this dog didn’t mind it as he’s used to it. So, I recommend these. I rinsed them off after use and dried them with a towel and put away in a dry place to prevent any rust because I saw one person on here post photos of a pair of Miller Forge clippers rusted.

I’m sure they got wet as any clippers if you get wet and don’t dry would rust. On my reason I see for that to happen and that goes for other items one uses like scissors, can openers etc. common sense.

If a dogs nails are cut with these and they’re in pain with dry brittle nails then take your dog to a Vet because they have a possible infection of their paws, immune system problems etc. I highly recommend these though, the best I’ve found for an easier clipping on this dog and actually the best on my other medium dog.

I wouldn’t use on my large dog a GS. So, I bought the large for her. I’ve clipped her nails since she was a pup but I like these better than all the others I’ve bought over the years. To each his own but I’ve heard nothing but good about these plus I’m tired of replacing frequently those made in China.

I bought these for my little chihuahua dachshund mix and pug mix. They were so easy to use. I make small clips and keep clipping little pieces until they are the desired length. Well, we have a larger dog who hates her nails clipped.

She let me use these on her, and I did the same thing. Made small clips (almost like shaving off the nails) until I got to the desired length and she did so well with these. I emulated what my vet tech did to our other dogs toe nails, doing small clips instead of trying to clip larger pieces of nail off.

It makes a huge difference in the reactions because they don’t hear the louder clips and you have more control over how much nail you take off when you do smaller “shaving” or clippings at a time. So glad I purchased these! I like the feel in my hand, they aren’t flimsy feeling but have some weight to them.

I love safari grooming products but I’ve never seen these before, so I had to give it a shot. Keep in mind before purchasing that they are for cats so yes they’re incredibly tiny but oh so easy to use.

My kittens would throw fits everytime I came at them with the dog nail clippers and baby nail clippers kept splitting their nails and causing sharp edges which would defeat the purpose of claw clipping.

These are so little and hassle free that my kittens don’t even care. They just want their claws clipped so they can go back to playing. Definitely found new cat claw clippers. Chewy for the win once again!.

Ever since I was little, my Mom always bought these nail clippers for our cats’ nails. I always wondered why she didn’t buy the fancy-looking clippers in Target or Wal-Mart that have the large, cushioned handles and look a lot nicer.

Now that I have cats of my own, I understand why – I tried those other clippers and they were horrible. The design of these clippers is impeccable, despite the small handles and no frills. I don’t know why they cut so much better than the flashy ones, maybe it has to do with the leverage.

Anyway, I was so relieved to find these – the exact same clippers my Mom used to use all those years ago. They’re the only ones I ever want to use. ***BE VERY CAREFUL*** Once, while trimming my very squirmy 4-pound kitty’s nails, I accidentally pinched her little toe pad in the rubber handles completely by accident.

She screamed and it absolutely broke my heart. I’ve pinched my own fingers in the clippers multiple times – there’s really no way to get around it – but now that I’ve pinched her, I am VERY CAREFUL to make sure all paws, tails, and skin are out of the way of the clipper handles before I snip.

(FYI, she’s totally fine – there were no marks on her and I watched her walk around for a long time to make sure she wasn’t limping. I gave her extra treats and kisses that day :).

Handle is not comfortable because my fingers don’t line up exactly, I guess. Metal shield to safely cut the nail is just in the way of seeing nail/cuticle. Blades could be sharper too. Maybe I was expecting too much for clippers around $10.

Disappointed.

A little disappointed because i thought it would be made better. I could have replaced and gotten the same ones i have at home – the heavy duty professional clippers for the same price but they will do for now.

These clippers are good for the price. I have a very small Maltese and they work Great. For a larger dog with tougher nails. They might be cheaply made, but for me they’re Great!!

Serviceable but not at all efficient, clean cutting. Requires muscle to get it all the way through nail on my large dog (and I’m strong). Expected a cleaner, faster cut. The extra time and effort to cut a nail is also harder on the dog.

Cuts nails like butter. Just wish handle was longer. Uncomfortable (too small) when using.

I needed a larger pair of trimmers for dog nails and after trying several types, liked these the best (so far). Pros: There is no crushing during the cut– it’s smooth and gives a nice edge. They trim quietly (no loud click) which is great for skittish dogs.

The safety guard is not removable, but for those of us who prefer to see the nail rather than trust a guard, it can be moved out of the way. They’re powerful; able to handle large breed nails. Cons: Though sharp, the edge is not particularly keen.

That means it works great for everyday nail trims, but if you’re like me and use little snips to round off the edges (before filing), it can be difficult to get them to grip a small area of nail. They are pretty big.

This isn’t a problem for me, but I have particularly long fingers and could see small-handed people struggling. Similarly, the white “PetSpy” circle is a bit bulky and more likely to brush against a ticklish dog’s paw.

Overall, I’d say that if you are looking for trimmers to maintain your large dog’s nails without doing anything fancy, these are a good choice.

These clippers are no different than any others you can purchase. The supposed ”quick sensor’ is nothing more than a metal slide which is included on most clippers. The word ‘sensor’ leads one to believe there is some electronic feature that allows the owner to see the quick so as not to cut too close to it and that could not be farther from the truth.

Same on this manufacturer for taking advantage pf a pet owner’s desire not to hurt their pet while cutting nails.

The Petspy nail trimmers are brilliant and have a high rating online. There is a round part that keeps the pets nail from being trimmed too much. I really appreciate that feature especially when my dog has black nails.

My dog now trusts me lol. Even though she will only let me trim one nail a day. Still saves me time and money!.

Good set of nail clippers. I wasn’t sure if I could get large nail clippers for my puppy who will eventually be 65 pounds. I decided to be safe and buy these which are for small dogs, and they worked great.

It took some training to get him comfortable with me clipping his nails but these were quick, smooth in cutting, and easy to use. I’m glad they do not jam in the spring area of the tool.

I got these to replace a pair of clippers that I got at Target about 10 years ago. They’re terrible. I couldn’t even get through the nail before my dog started crying. I usually never have trouble cutting his nails, but after trying two different nails and getting cries both times, I had to stop torturing him.

These were great for my Boston terrier. She didn’t seem bothered or uncomfortable. Trimmed her nails easily. Highly recommend.
