20 Best Toddler Shoes Wide Feet (2023 Updated)

We have struggled to find shoes that fit our little guy’s chubby feet. He has a very high in-step, making it so wide-widths alone wouldn’t always cut it. We have tried multiple different “wide” brands to no avail.

However, these open so nicely that his feet fit right in. I did choose the XW to be safe. All baby shoes should be made like these! I will definitely continue to purchase these as he grows!.

Nice and flexible sole, great for little ones who are still mastering all the movements and good for maintaining and working on foot flexibility. The last thing I want is my kid clunking around like an elephant.

Also appreciate the no-lace closure. Wish there were more colorways but it’ll do. Roomy for my little one’s meaty feet (grandma calls her meaty feeties, lol).

My toddler has incredibly wide feet, not only are they wide but incredibly “thick” from the top to bottom so most shoes are too tight on the top. I’ve only been able to find one kind of sneaker that will fit him.

But these do fit! Only complaint is that they are not made of a super sturdy material so it feels like he would be able to twist his ankle more easily.

I like the all three straps are Velcro so you can adjust them to fit your child’s foot. I bought a 7. 5 wide and 8 medium width for my two year old son since I didn’t know how they would fit. The widths don’t look different to me they both fit him just the 8 is slightly longer.

The solves are soft and flexible which seem like they would be comfortable. The straps lack quality. They are thin cheap leather. Not lined with fabric or rubber. I wouldn’t have bought these in the store for $40 or even $25.

I don’t particularly want to go through the trouble of sending them back so I’ll keep them and use as back ups hopefully for two summers. I’ll be on the look out for some that are better quality with the same stylish look.

I was looking for a good fit, quality product and comfort for my toddler this season. I found everything in this shoe! My 2. 5 year old loves this so much more than last years Birkenstocks. These are super soft and the material is flexible and sturdy (quality wise).

I have no regrets in buying these sandals. The sizing seems to be true to size. I bought his a little big so that he could get more use throughout the summer. I love these! I wish Merrell had more colors like a lighter tan or camel color.

These will be our go to all summer! Definitely worth the price. You can just tell in the quality of the shoe and the way it was designed for more comfort. THANK YOU MERRELL!.

I bought these sandals for my daughter in the brown color because I like how it looks more neutral and natural, even though they are meant for boys. The shoes had soft rubber soles, and a nice wide toe box for little toes to move.

The bottom had very good traction, so they can be used for walking, running, and even hiking. The straps were strong and the velcro large so it doesn’t come undone easily and can be adjusted to the foot size.

Which I like. The only issue I ran into was that the shoes were too big, so I exchanged them for a smaller size. Will most likely buy them again next year but I have to see how they hold up after this summer is over.

However, I am pretty confident that they will hold up just fine judging by the quality.

These are super comfortable for my size 8 wide feet. Full disclosure: I have only ran on the trail with these once so I can’t attest to their longevity and waterproofing, but let’s be honest, they’ll probably fall apart after a year of use like all shoes do.

This is why our oceans are full of trash. Y’all really should ask for reviews 6 months out, but in the 3 weeks I’ve owned them, they’ve stood up to wet spring conditions in the Pacific Northwest. In terms of appearance, these are basic and decent looking but they might be the Grocery Outlet of trail running shoes: why does it say “Toe Protect” on the shoe? That’s a little silly.

Of course my toe is protected, it’s in a shoe! It really wouldn’t be that protected if someone took an axe to it, would it? If I was that nihilist woman character from the Big Lebowski who cut off her pinky toe to get Bunny’s ransom money? I also feel weird telling everyone my toe is protected in this shoe.

Weird flex but okay. Also, why “Fresh Foam”? Are you saying my shoes are made of foam? Or that they’re weaker than foam? Bad marketing.

My daughter picked these shoes and wanted them so badly. She absolutely LOVES them! She says they are comfortable and all the perfect colors that are her favorites! A sleek design! I was disappointed as we paid for the 1 day shipping and I saw NO WHERE on the website that the shoes would need 2 business days to process.

We were leaving on Family vacation on Sunday and I ordered these on Thursday morning thinking they would easily arrive by Saturday evening with me paying the extra $25. 99 for shipping. However, when I chatted with the New Balance company Saturday and the tracking said they were set to arrive Monday they explained that they had 2 processing days.

Maybe I am a silly person for not seeing this detail, but they were rude on the chat and I did not see this detail. So I was upset to have them not arrive in time for our vacation.

I was looking for a comfortable shoe as I am a healthcare worker. I’m on my feet all day. I heard good things about NB. So, I bought these. I gave it 3 stars because they are cute. But. The “fresh foam” is definitely false advertisement! This insole is so thin! There’s absolutely nothing “foamy” about it.

I was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to these. I would have sent them back, but I do not have the time. I will wear them to run errands in, that’s it. They are not comfortable. Plus, one of the shoe strings is twice as long as the other! What’s with that?! I’m sad to say this is my first and last purchase of NB shoes.

I’m a little surprised at the great reviews on these. My daughter has only ever worn striderite shoes and compared to the usual awesome flexible soles, these are so stiff!!! My 2yo walks funny in these.

Also, the fused hook and loop I find a little annoying. Makes them harder to get on than the regular kind. My daughter doesn’t have wide feet and I find I struggle to get them pulled tight enough to allow the Velcro to catch.

Really unhappy with these. Unfortunately I didn’t unbox when originally purchased otherwise I would have immediately returned. Lesson learned.

We thought this shoe would be good for supporting our 2 year old’s independence, but they’re not very good for that as it turns out. Maybe they’re just for more narrow feet than my little guy, but the Velcro isn’t long enough for him to buckle on his own.

Really wanted these to work especially since it’s a single strap and doesn’t thread back through the shoe!.

I bought three pairs of shoes for my 19 month old twin grandsons and my three year old granddaughter. They fit each child perfectly and their quality is amazing. I bought stride rite shoes for my daughters when they were young children so I believe in this company and their reputation.

My 7 year old wears AFO leg braces and finding shoes that fit is difficult. Even more difficult is finding shoes where she still feels like she fits in with her friends, while allowing for the bulk of her braces.

We’ve tried hundreds of dollars worth of shoes to find ones that fit her braces and don’t rip within a month. Our PT said another family had luck with the 880s, and I’m happy to say we will be purchasing many more pairs! The quality is great, of course because New Balance, but the XTRA WIDE actually fits her braces and she can wear “normal” shoes.

This is the only shoe i could find in extra wide for my granddaughter. I am thankful to have found it. This is the only style for girls in extra wide, there are many options for boys. You should consider replacing the suede toe with leather or something more durable.

Size Kid 10. 5 of 888v2is it’s about the size as Kid 11 of Rave Run. Also, the regular width of 888v2 is about the same as the wide width of Rave Run. Just what’s wrong here? I really wish NB makes a consistent sizing.

A half-size on 11-inch feet may not make a big difference, but it does make a huge difference on 5-inch feet of kids. The inconsistent sizing is extremely inconvenient. Basically, we ordered 10. 5 of 888v2 and 11 of Rave Run, and we ended up with two pairs of identical size.

Other than that, the quality of 888v2 seems better than any kid’s shoes we have ordered so far. We love the design and quality. recommended, but watch out – NB sizing is different on different models.

a true athletic shoe for toddlers. this is the second time we have bought this shoe and it does not disappoint. wish we could buy about 5 different color combos they have. the design itself is fun and ultra simple.

its a slip-on, laceless type of shoe that our 18 month could put on herself. our lo literally goes out for daily walks and ultra-light short jogs and these shoes were phenomenal for that. if your 2 year old aint the type to “train” on the daily, these shoes are still very comfy and useful for the playground and kicking around on your scooter.

we will continuously buy these shoes until they no longer have a size for my little one or we find something way better.

I would really like to give this review 4 1/2 stars, but that’s not an option. This is the second pair that I have bought for my son of the playgruv. They are great shoes in the way that they don’t have super long shoelaces to get tangled up with.

The only downfall is the elastic shoelaces stretch out, so towards the end of the shoe life, it’s hard to keep them on your child’s feet. Pretty much every move he made, especially if it involves a twist, they were office feet.

But they fit well and they are comfortable, even after the elastic stretches, so that’s why I bought him another pair!.

Stride Rite sent me wide width shoes instead of XW. I could tell as soon as I opened them because they weren’t adaptable. I called customer service right away who instructed me to email. In my email I asked if they could replace it with the right size or something comparable.

They emailed back saying they no longer had the width and size I wanted in this color, so the only thing they could do was give me a refund. They sent no suggestions for a comparable XW shoe. I ended up finding a shoe from Ten Little that fits my daughter really well, even though they’re not marketed as XW.

I will probably not buy her shoes from Stride Rite anymore.

We’ve been very pleased with stride rite in the past. Our son just turned 4 and has large, still kinda chunky feet and also has some sensory issues. We ordered a size 13. 5 XW, which I thought would come with Velcro as the picture portrayed, but they came with laces which was a bummer.

They seemed to fit him though and he has worn them a few times, however recently has started having major fits about his toes hurting. There seems to be a good amount of space in the toe still, so the only thing we can think to be the issue is that the toe space isn’t wide enough despite it being an XW shoe.

So unfortunately the money is spent and we’re still on the lookout for a good tennis shoe for our son.

The sneaker Ed perfect exactly fit my daughter the way it needed too. Every other sneaker we tried on in that size was incorrect at different shoe stores. Stride rite seems to be the only best shoe store around it’s too bad our closest location closed dow.

They have been my shoe guide for all three of my kids since they were born. I will be going back again and again to turn to them as they are also orthopedic certified. This is huge to me as from the time I was small to adult I have always had foot issues.

I have a leg length discrepancy causing one foot to feel the difference more. I also had to wear braces as a child on my lower leg to correct turning in feet. My kids have all be been ok knock on wood since they were born, but knowing that in the back of my mind what I had to go through my kids will only be wearing sneakers or shoes that are good for there feet.

My son’s feet are growing (fast?!) and I know SR sneakers provide great cushion and support so I ordered a pair of these sneaks for both him (this one) and a pink pair for my toddler daughter. She loves hers and wears them all the time.

My son complained the heel was too snug on the back of his foot so we are returning to find a larger size. Overall I would recommend the sneakers either way! I am listing it as “true to size” because I believe my son’s feet are just too big for the size I ordered.

Sidenote: SR accidentally sent us the wrong pair at first (in a different color, smaller size). They were quick to fix the error and sent along the correct pair promptly. Their customer service made it easy to return the wrong pair AND the pair that is too small.

We have been loyal to the New Balance Fresh Foam Arishi since we came across this model. However, this pair is a bust. Neither a whole nor a half size fit just right, which we could get past. The real frustrating part for me was the quality of the fabric used for this shoe.

We purchased the light seafoam green color, and they were ugly looking by afternoon when worn only in a classroom and lunchroom by a pretty responsible, clean kid. I’m not sure I can justify purchasing sneakers that can only be worn in ideal weather conditions and then need to be cleaned with a magic eraser.

These were a big disappointment.

It was so fortuitous that I discovered Billy Footwear. As an autistic adult I do sometimes struggle with laces and shoe fit. OK, I struggle a LOT with fit and my laces always come undone as a result.

Billy offers so many sizing choices for adults and kids, that through a small amount of trial and error and with some judicious measuring, not easy when you live on your own, I have the right fit. This is also my second pair, and won’t now be the last either! AND just look at all the styles and colours! Comfort of these High Tops is supreme, and closure is so easy.

I live in the UK, and delivery was a doddle. The whole ordering process was a simple task, again that helps me LOADS. Truly, these probably arrived just as easily and at the same price as if I’d ordered over here.

Did I mention the colours? Two-tone pink rocks! Anyway, if you are at all in doubt, at all hesitating, just do what I did and measure your foot, pick the style and colour, and just order. I’m sure you won’t regret it!.

I ordered these shoes for my almost 5 year old son. He is on the autism spectrum and he toe walks a lot. He had regular high tops to help prevent the toe walking and his pre-school teachers told me they were very hard to get on his feet.

I was aware of shoe kids company already because I ordered boots from them last year (which were awesome as well). So I looked on their website and saw these. I ordered two pairs. They are awesome!! I am very happy with my purchase!! First of all they showed up quickly.

Second of all they solved the problem of high tops being hard to get on. They are still threaded with shoelaces so that you can tighten/loosen them as needed. They thought of everything! Also can use the laces to teach your child how to do up laces.

Really the best of both worlds. Shoe kids has specific toe walking prevention shoes, but I thought I would start with these instead. They definitely help my son walk more flat footed. My son also has a wide foot which was what led me to buying from shoe kids in the first place.

Shoe kids has great options for kids with wide feet. I got the shoes in an 11 wide and they are perfect. Their prices are reasonable. Would definitely recommend!.

Perfect for my daughter k. f. o. brace and a. f. o brace. Especially the toe box area of the classic d high tops provides the extra space for the brace in toe box and the side. You can go in add extra support for the xxw.

ZIP UP and Lace up options help with brace and time management. Which us moms love. Classic D are the best high tops we found that are comfortable with braces. Support for P. T. Thank you for making a great all around high top like classic D.

Neutral color are perfect for school. Will be purchasing more classic d Keeping eye an out for them in earth tone color. We love seeing classic d color black, grey. White would be great and earth tone colors.

Very cute! I got these because they seemed more girly for my very girly 4 year old. The first day they came in we obviously had to try them on and she was so excited. However, The first thing I noticed was how tight they were over her AFO’s.

I was scared they weren’t going to fit over them and had to push pretty hard to finally get her AFO’s in, Zipping up is still a night mare. I’ve left them on her AFO’s to sit over night and try to stretch them out but it hasn’t made a noticeable difference.

Still very cute boots for a cute going out outfit but not a good choice if you’re in a hurry.

Love these! I am an adult and I bought them. The laces were a bit tight at first but that is very easy since they are adjustable. I feel like they are decently sturdy when the laces are snug to your foot!! This is my first time with Billy’s for myself and the only thing is that the zipper is a bit hard to move at times.

I did get the free “kg zipper reinforcement” so maybe that it part of it. But Billy’s are AMAZING! My boyfriend’s son has CP and this brand is one of the few that has great function and gives independence, while actually looking nice!!!.

I really wanted a classic shoe for my child. These shoes look great and the quality of the soles and shoe in general is excellent. My only complaint is that there is no buckle, there is a Velcro attachment instead.

That might work for some people but I find the Velcro doesn’t last as long as the shoe and they aren’t safe as it’s easy to undo.

Purchased for my 4-year-old for school. She usually wears a 9. 5 in regular shoes. Got her a size 10 and her response was, “they look very stylish, but it’s tight!” Mind you, there was room near the toe area, so length wise, it was fine.

However, if your kid has wide feet, don’t bother. Only reason I’m keeping them is to pass on to my younger daughter who’s feet are much skinnier on the width end. Bummed!.

Grandaughter, 2. 5 years old was delighted and didn’t want to take them off so we could test the wide insole that comes with. The red is bright and cheerful, toddler perfect color. Works with both casual and a little dressier.

She can run and play just like with tennis shoes.

I’m one that never writes a review actually its my first. I hope I can save a lot of moms. As soon as I put my sons feet in the shoes he took off and never looked back. I’m a new mom but Im use to seeing the old school ways I grew up.

My grandmother would put lil bells on mine when I was a little one. These shoes are generational in my family every one had a pair. My baby started walking at 10. 5 months and even better with the hard bottom shoe and ankle support.

I have Spent a lot of money on other pairs of shoes and it all came down too one.

These little walkers, are excellent for the first steps that a baby takes, and they also provide great balance. I finally tried them on my Grandson, and the work perfectly!!! The is very cool, see below.

These shoes were perfect when my grand baby started walking. They support his ankles and give a nice platform for walking. They are a little slippery for floors but perfect when walking outside. I would buy them again.

This shoe is very cute, but we had 2 problems with it. The first is that the velcro strap almost doesn’t reach far enough across the top of my son’s foot to fasten. Seems like the velcro is just barely hanging on.

The strap should be a bit longer. It wasn’t quite a deal breaker though. The other problem, that is a deal breaker, is that one of the shoes was not very well stitched so my son’s foot was sitting in the shoe off-center.

We noticed on day 2 or so that something seemed off. When we watched him walk from behind we could see that his foot was not aligned right and he was walking partly on the side of the shoe because of the stitching forcing his foot to not sit flat in the shoe.

Stride Rite’s return policy is for unworn, original condition shoes so we’ve emailed customer service. No response yet after a week so I’m worried we might be out the $50 and still have to buy another pair of shoes.

Fortunately, we’ve had good luck with all our other pairs of Stride Rite shoes so we’ll likely just buy another style.

Not water resistant – These boots let in water. Even if it’s just a little wet, my son’s feet are always wet. Keep cold – The soles are really thin. If the floor is cold – it seeps through the soles and the inside of the shoe is freezing.

Thin all-over – The shoe itself is very thin. there’s no padding to the shoe sides or sole. These shoes are very thin. The shoes look good. If you just want to use for pictures or indoors, they can be functional.

I bought these for my 3 year old last month. He’s just had a birthday so he’s officially 4 years old and it seems his energy has picked up as well! He loves these shoes! Stride Rite is one of of my go-to brands for toddler/kids shoes.

In the last 11 years between my two boys I’ve only had one pair that didn’t make me 100% happy. I’d say those were definitely a fluke though! Even if they weren’t a 10/10 my youngest wore them half to death up until I replaced them with these.

I got a size 8. 5W in these. Does my little guy have wide feet? Yes. Wide and he is relatively flat footed so the support stride ride shoes offers is a must for him in my opinion. I’ve bought regular width shoes for him in the past and those do fit but not ideally.

I learned from his last pair, buying wide widths for him is still a must even at this age or sometimes they end up being a little tight in the elastic lace area when they’d fit otherwise. That said, my issue with a similar style previous pair was the style of elastic laces didn’t allow for them to stretch easily for me to remedy the shoe’s top to bottom tightness problem easily.

Preference on my part really since a wide width would have likely helped. They weren’t uncomfortable to him, they just took more effort for me to get on him that I’d have liked. These shoes are relatively wide but they aren’t excessive wide.

So if you’re little one has wide AND super chubby feet you might want to take that into consideration. My little dude doesn’t have the chubby feet that came with the younger toddler days so these fit his wide stomping feet great.

These light up and have a pretty beefy tread to them. I thought that might cause him to trip as he is prone to wiping out when being rowdy but I was wrong. He spent a couple days overjoyed they lit up AND the thick tread/outer sole makes a satisfying stomping noise on our laminate floors.

Seeing him running full speed across my living room yesterday made me want to write this review. This pair is lightweight and he’s very agile wearing them. (Well, at least as agile as a rough and tumble little boy like him gets at this age!) They don’t slow him down or trip him up.

If anything they help him run faster. He can climb the precarious stairs that lead up to our front door without tripping. He can run full steam ahead across our uneven, not manicured, slightly sloping grass yard without a care in the world! He can run, jump and play just like the title says! As a parent these are easy to help him get on and off.

The Velcro is quality and doesn’t snag other things. It fastens easily first try and doesn’t make a huge amount of noise when it’s unfastened. The stretch laces aren’t overkill so they don’t squish little feet, they simply compliment the shoes fit.

He’s learning how to put shoes on solo and he can manage the Velcro closure easily on his own. He’s not gentle on shoes (what little boy is?) and so far these are holding up great after a month of daily wear.

Scuffs wipe off along with daily dirt. Playing in puddles with Daddy didn’t ruin them. They aren’t heavy. They are flexible enough that he can skip and tiptoe as he pleases. He actually likes these enough to insist on napping with them on! I’d say that equals comfort and a cool factor only a kiddo his age can express.

Overall these are winners. Everything you’d expect from the brand. They’re definitely cream of the crop quality wise. My oldest for what it’s worth has long, narrow feet with high arches and long toes.

Stride Rites have always fit him until he was old enough to have a preference for a more “adult” athletic brand. My baby girl is still too little for more than a moccasin style shoe but you can bet I’ll be buying her Stride Rite shoes in the future with a high likelihood that I’ll continue to scoop them up from Zulily along with all my other greats finds from here.

Two thumbs up and Five stars. Measure your kiddos feet and follow Stride Rite sizing and you won’t be disappointed! (I liked them enough to take pictures but I can’t add them to the review. Bummer!).

We purchased this shoe for my son’s 6th birthday. He was so excited because this would be his last pair of “light-up shoes” since he was now a “big boy”. As soon as we took them out of the box he put them on and pranced around the house.

But when he took them off, the insoles came out of the shoes. both shoes! I thought, maybe this is a new thing because New Balance designs their sneakers so you can replace the insoles. But when we put the insoles back into the shoes, they scrunched up under the toe and became uncomfortable for my son.

I called Striderite to ask about the insoles, and the rep confirmed that the insoles were not designed to be removed. She then told me I had to email them pictures of the shoes without the insoles, the insoles, the shoes with the tongue out so they could see the actual tag on the tongue, along with the purchase receipt.

I thought to myself, “this is doing way too much”, but I did what I was asked. I explained the situation in the email and requested a refund since the shoes were defective. About a week later I get an email saying they will either give me a store credit or exchange the shoes.

I called to tell them I wanted a refund because I had to go out and purchase shoes elsewhere and didn’t need another pair of shoes. I was told that Striderite ONLY offers exchanges or credits. I have never had this happen with them in the past and didn’t expect this response.

Since when didn’t they give refunds, especially when the receipt gave instructions on how to obtain a refund? Needless to say I was VERY upset. I was again told I had only tow options: to accept a store credit or accept an exchange.

I have no plans to shop with them in the future, but I chose the store credit as the lesser of two evils.

I have purchased 2 different pair for my son in the last year 2 years. The first pair was like this one shown here, but a different color. He wore them less than 6 months before the sole split and the Velcro stopped working.

The second pair was a pair of high tops. I bought them because he loved the first pair, and I was hoping the second pair would be better than the first. I was proved wrong. The second pair did the same thing in less than 6 months.

The bottom split and the Velcro wore out and pulled away from the strap. I am incredibly disappointed and irritated. I expect to get a good quality shoe when I spend this much for shoes. I will never again bye Leepz.

I like how the shoes look but they are I think made for wider feet. I have to lace the shoes up pretty tight and they look a bit silly cause the laces are almost touching. The middle of the design really goes in and makes it look a bit weird as I have to lace the shoes tight.

The laces also come untied unless you really double knot them tight. They are comfy but perhaps a walking shoe vs a lifestyle shoe might’ve been more comfy for walking a lot of miles per day. I also don’t like how the sides come in the material bunches up.

I got these for my son after we moved to San Francisco and all the walking was giving him blisters. I figured if his pair was half as comfortable as my pair of New Balance sneakers his feet would be happy.

They have been great. They are holding up well to the daily sidewalk beating and his feet never have blisters anymore. I had never tried New Balance before the last couple of months, but I am sold and don’t know if I could ever switch to any other brand!.

My son (almost 9) loves these shoes and he frequently his shoes of choice for school or other outings. They are easy to get on and off and the laces mostly stay tied, which is good since he is still working on tying his own shoes.

They’re a little sportier than I expected and the orange is really bright–almost fluorescent. (We got the blue/orange color. ) I thought he might be a size 2, but he was a 2. 5 in these. We ordered both sizes to compare.

These shoes were great for my sons AFOs. The short wrap works better than the regular zipper position for AFOs. The AFOs put a lot of stress on the zipper when it is lower on the shoe. I was really happy with these until they started to develop holes on the bottom after only two months.

Usually we get wear and tear on the top from foot dragging but these holes are on the bottom. I imagine these holes are from some sort of dragging, but I’ve never had a shoe wear out so fast. I would hope to get at least six montages or more out of a shoe that cost $50.

As a mom with a little one in orthotics, this company is a godsend to us!! My son just recently graduated into SMO orthotics, and the Billy shoe is perfect for these! He has a super rare foot condition, Vertical Talus, and has had a long journey to walking – but we are almost to that finish line! Thank you so much, for being a big part of that journey Billy Footwear! 💜.

Compared to the original Billy’s these were not made as nice. They seem like a generic off brand of the many other Billy’s we’ve previously ordered. The insides are no where near as soft, and they feel like they were made extremely cheap.

Hoping Billy’s goes back to the “old” ways that we loved for our daughter… SOFT, COMFY & HIGH QUALITY. These were not it!.
