Best Toddler Shoes For Wide Feet (2023 Updated)

I bought these shoes for my 12 year-old son who claims that they are the, “most comfortable shoes ever!” They look great and he only wants to wear this pair of shoes currently, so hopefully they will last for a bit.

So far, they seem durable, and he loves them. He wants a similar style in a different color, and I’ll probably get them based on his experience with these. Highly recommended.

I have bought a total of three pairs. One last school year, one for this coming school year and an extra pair because my son plays football so he is rough on shoes. These we love because they are durable and look classically adorable with shorts and a polo or Tshirt.

I will continue to buy these as long as they are in stock.

I bought these shoes for my 8 year old grandson. He loves them. He still needs a little practice making a tight bow, but he is making good progress. The key is that they are comfortable. He was really attached to his old Merrell sneakers, but he had worn them out.

I struggled to find sneakers for which he would be willing to throw the Merrells away. These New Balance were the answer.

One word Review: “Uncomfortable” (2nd One Word Review: “Rigid”) I’ve had these shoes for 3 weeks now. I’ve done some considerable walking in them. Really given them a chance and done some work as I want them to function as shoes.

I’ve exclusively owned Saucony shoes for walking and running for the last 8 years. I only go with Saucony because they have always been reliably comfortable and fit me well. This shoe surprised me by its discomfort.

The heel-back, and top, is so rigid that after 10 miles of walking, I’m only just started to feel it break-in, barely. Same goes for the side of the shoes, very rigid and inflexible. Walking in them, they flexed very little with each step, and these are not cork or rubber foot-beds, it’s supposed to be foam and plastic.

So the entire shoes moves a little too independently while walking–like a clog or birkenstock, this is supposed to be a sneaker, not those standing-still shoes. I had blisters on my ankles on each of the first three walks.

I’ll say that the shoes behaves as if it is too large, but I must own 16 pairs, all size 10. 5M, all the rest–walking, running, cross-training, racing–are more comfortable shoes. I’ve never had this experience with Saucony.

I don’t know if something is going on with the company, and there’s new management or manufacturers, or if this is an experimental shoe, or what. but this is the most uncomfortable Saucony shoe I have ever walked in.

Since my size was always teh same, I felt confident ordering online. bad idea, I guess. Sorry, Saucony, I might not come back. no big loss to you; disappointing change for me. I had recommended Saucony to everyone.

I won’t be. Not with blisters still 2 weeks in, with the same shoe size as always. I realise that I got the Unisex size 10. 5 as I was trusting the company that it would be truly Unisex. not an impossible-to-picture middle-ground.

the uni-sex sizing seemed the only sizing available for this model. the intention is to be handy, the result is to be annoying. I would give only 1 Star, because they currently do not function as shoes for me, due to the discomfort, but I gave 2 Stars because they can be used to prop-open doors, and keep papers from flying away.

If I take a wooden mallet to all the rigidly-uncomfortable parts, and beat them into softness, then maybe. maybe. maybe they’d be comfortable after being basically crushed to death.

I’m a little surprised at the great reviews on these. My daughter has only ever worn striderite shoes and compared to the usual awesome flexible soles, these are so stiff!!! My 2yo walks funny in these.

Also, the fused hook and loop I find a little annoying. Makes them harder to get on than the regular kind. My daughter doesn’t have wide feet and I find I struggle to get them pulled tight enough to allow the Velcro to catch.

Really unhappy with these. Unfortunately I didn’t unbox when originally purchased otherwise I would have immediately returned. Lesson learned.

This is my third pair of Jazz sneakers mainly because I like the retro style; however, overall they lack cushion and arch support. They’re perfect for just running errands around town, but not for long walks on concrete.

As for the color changing UV fabric on the shoes, I didn’t really notice a color change. I do get lots of compliments though when I wear them.

These shoes look absolutely adorable on my 10 month old. I wanted a sturdy shoe that would keep her feet safe while walking outdoors and I feel confident that these do just that. I love the fit guide inside the shoes – I was actually nervous I ordered a size too big but it looks like they fit exactly how they’re supposed to.

I was a bit disappointed that the color was much more dull than pictured and also had a pinkish hue instead of the rich brown shown. They also arrived a bit scuffed on the outside which was disappointing considering these are not exactly cheap baby shoes.

Overall happy with my purchase because her safety while walking was my #1 concern and I think these do that well.

These suede sparkly Mary Jane’s are the perfect first show for a baby who just our grew baby slip on moccasins. The tread is flexible. The sides along the heel are firm. The toes are durable encased.

The arch is supported. However, The sizing is unique to Stride Rite. I ordered the same size my daughter wears in Nike sneakers. The MJs are a size too big. Oh well. She’ll grow into them in the time it would take to return then for the right size.

I am so sorry that all our Stride Rite shoe stores closed locally. Now I have to add them on our road trip plans to actually try on shoes before we buy them.

The item does say there’s some color variation, but the difference so much more than expected. I purchased two sizes in brown leather and they both looked super faded and matte, whereas the ad shows a rich shinier finish.

The ankle strap is also very short. My 3. 5yo, size 9, is thin with thin feet. The strap sites with hr buckle almost on top of the T-strap instead of in the side. Also, the crease where her for bends like cheap.

I really expected better quality from this brand. This was my first purchase and may be my last.

We loved the style of this shoe and the fit was true to size. My son wears a 7. 5W. The issue we had was the back of the shoe. We have such a hard time getting them on and it folds over. In daycare that had the same issue.

We normally really like Stride Rite but I would not recommend this style.

I was very happy with these shoes. We have trouble finding a good fit for our little one because of his wide/high arch, but I was very happy to find that this shoe fit great when I ordered it in a wide for him! The quality of the shoe is great, too!.

My grandson loves how comfortable the New Balance for Dynasoft 545 V1 Running Shoes are and also I noticed they don’t wear as easy as other shoes he has. These shoes go pretty well with most of his outfits and I don’t have to worry about his shoelaces being untied.

Overall, I would buy these again. These are so cute. The red color is very true red. My grandson’s favorite color is red and he has wide feet, so excited we could find these shoes that came in wide AND are his favorite color.

These sneakers are great! I have trouble purchasing shoes for my grandson because he has wide feet. DSW is one of the very few who always has a great selection in the wide sizes. I purchased these shoes for my grandson and he not only love them but says they’re very comfortable.

First name brand shoes we’ve found for our Son that tic all the boxes. So we’ve just stuck to them. This is his 4th pair. Look good with everything, flexible and not stiff like other name brands, very comfy sole, proper width so you can wear with socks comfortably, good grip and last a long time.

Haven’t had a pair tear up yet. With the exception of crocs, these are all he wears until he grows out of them and into the next size.

My 7 year old wears AFO leg braces and finding shoes that fit is difficult. Even more difficult is finding shoes where she still feels like she fits in with her friends, while allowing for the bulk of her braces.

We’ve tried hundreds of dollars worth of shoes to find ones that fit her braces and don’t rip within a month. Our PT said another family had luck with the 880s, and I’m happy to say we will be purchasing many more pairs! The quality is great, of course because New Balance, but the XTRA WIDE actually fits her braces and she can wear “normal” shoes.

This is the only shoe i could find in extra wide for my granddaughter. I am thankful to have found it. This is the only style for girls in extra wide, there are many options for boys. You should consider replacing the suede toe with leather or something more durable.

Size Kid 10. 5 of 888v2is it’s about the size as Kid 11 of Rave Run. Also, the regular width of 888v2 is about the same as the wide width of Rave Run. Just what’s wrong here? I really wish NB makes a consistent sizing.

A half-size on 11-inch feet may not make a big difference, but it does make a huge difference on 5-inch feet of kids. The inconsistent sizing is extremely inconvenient. Basically, we ordered 10. 5 of 888v2 and 11 of Rave Run, and we ended up with two pairs of identical size.

Other than that, the quality of 888v2 seems better than any kid’s shoes we have ordered so far. We love the design and quality. recommended, but watch out – NB sizing is different on different models.

It was so fortuitous that I discovered Billy Footwear. As an autistic adult I do sometimes struggle with laces and shoe fit. OK, I struggle a LOT with fit and my laces always come undone as a result.

Billy offers so many sizing choices for adults and kids, that through a small amount of trial and error and with some judicious measuring, not easy when you live on your own, I have the right fit. This is also my second pair, and won’t now be the last either! AND just look at all the styles and colours! Comfort of these High Tops is supreme, and closure is so easy.

I live in the UK, and delivery was a doddle. The whole ordering process was a simple task, again that helps me LOADS. Truly, these probably arrived just as easily and at the same price as if I’d ordered over here.

I ordered these shoes for my almost 5 year old son. He is on the autism spectrum and he toe walks a lot. He had regular high tops to help prevent the toe walking and his pre-school teachers told me they were very hard to get on his feet.

I was aware of shoe kids company already because I ordered boots from them last year (which were awesome as well). So I looked on their website and saw these. I ordered two pairs. They are awesome!! I am very happy with my purchase!! First of all they showed up quickly.

Second of all they solved the problem of high tops being hard to get on. They are still threaded with shoelaces so that you can tighten/loosen them as needed. They thought of everything! Also can use the laces to teach your child how to do up laces.

Really the best of both worlds. Shoe kids has specific toe walking prevention shoes, but I thought I would start with these instead. They definitely help my son walk more flat footed. My son also has a wide foot which was what led me to buying from shoe kids in the first place.

Shoe kids has great options for kids with wide feet. I got the shoes in an 11 wide and they are perfect. Their prices are reasonable. Would definitely recommend!.

My kids feet don’t grow that fast and I was hoping i can use these for at least 6 months, I ordered a half size up and my toddler was happy with them, haven’t used them outdoors much due to cold weather just daycare’s indoor playground and one of the shoe’s strap wont stay in place.

The other shoe is fine. A bit disappointed, otherwise great comfy shoe.

Firs like a glove, it’s so comfortable and warm. Feels fabulous on my body and I feel really glamorous in it. Absolutely love the long sleeves that show under my warm UA fleecy top. The short top allows me much movement & I don’t feel restricted by wearing this tight fitting top.

I like how it’s short and I can see the band on my leggings. Love the cloud too and the high neckline. This top is a winner. My favourite one this season from UA & I am sn absolutely an UA fan!.

Great sneakers for a great price. Needed a pair of white sneakers for my son for school as he had already destroyed the previous pair that I had bought at the start of the year. Really happy with this purchase.

These shoes are perfect for uniform days at school when my son has to wear black polished shoes. They’re running shoes but still polished and leather which makes them so durable and comfortable. My son loves these shoes and wears them for non-sports day, days.

8. 5 is always my size. I use ballet shoes for years. Always size 8. 5 W which was perfect. These are 8. 5 but are a little small and tide for me. Never happened before. Very disappointed !!!! Love ballet shoes but not when they are not comfortable and hurt.

I wish it would have been different as I really wanted black ballet shoes. I always purchase new ones.

Capezio, a standard of excellence for many years, and still producing a quality shoe for ballet. Got these for my granddaughter who just started ballet. She loves them!

Nice and flexible sole, great for little ones who are still mastering all the movements and good for maintaining and working on foot flexibility. The last thing I want is my kid clunking around like an elephant.

Also appreciate the no-lace closure. Wish there were more colorways but it’ll do. Roomy for my little one’s meaty feet (grandma calls her meaty feeties, lol).

My toddler has incredibly wide feet, not only are they wide but incredibly “thick” from the top to bottom so most shoes are too tight on the top. I’ve only been able to find one kind of sneaker that will fit him.

But these do fit! Only complaint is that they are not made of a super sturdy material so it feels like he would be able to twist his ankle more easily.

I just purchased these for my grandson who is just starting to walk. I also bought a pair for my granddaughter a few months ago who was starting to walk. She absolutely loves them. Carries them around and wants to wear them constantly.

I’m one that never writes a review actually its my first. I hope I can save a lot of moms. As soon as I put my sons feet in the shoes he took off and never looked back. I’m a new mom but Im use to seeing the old school ways I grew up.

My grandmother would put lil bells on mine when I was a little one. These shoes are generational in my family every one had a pair. My baby started walking at 10. 5 months and even better with the hard bottom shoe and ankle support.

I have Spent a lot of money on other pairs of shoes and it all came down too one.

Although my son absolutely hates shoes period, I am in love with these! I immediately noticed the difference in how he stands with these shoes. He has some soft (rubber) bottom shoes and he tends to stand on his top toes with those, but these shoes force him to use his entire foot.

Hey, my mom used then with me and I used them with my daughter, why switch up now? They do run a bit large, but I prefer more room for growth. Only con I have is they’re slippery, but that easily fixed goth a few dabs of glue from s glue gun or scuffing the bottom with sandpaper.

The shoes are great quality and value. Great old-School quality like my children wore. !!! Brought this pair for my grandson 9 months. One thing the sole is not slip resistant enough, please add more non-slip material to the soles.

My grandson has wide feet. Very wide feet. As Stride Tite knows or can see, I have bought multiple shoes for him in hopes that at least one pair would fit him. None ever did. I believe I only returned one pair of all of my purchases.

I have donated all the others. They FINALLY came up with an extra wide shoe for cases such as his. I bought thus pair while holding my breath and when they arrived, my DIL immediately tried them on his little wide foot.

They fit PERFECTLY! There are so many children just like him and so many others with a prosthetic foot or a foot deformity or inconsistency and now they too can wear a beautiful shoes that actually fit! Thank you, thank you, thank you!.

Unfortunately, I had to return the Journey adaptable sneakers. They were almost impossible to get on, and once on, both twins started pulling at the shoes instead of running around, stomping, and laughing like they always do with new shoes.

It was obvious they were uncomfortable. I buy exclusively from Striderite because both boys need an xw. It is almost impossible to find this in any other brand. Along with their feet being wide, they are also thick.

This seems to be more of a problem than the actual width. Fortunately, neither child has to wear any orthotics at this point. I cannot imagine getting this shoe over anything like that. I removed the insert before even trying them on for the first time.

I have had much better luck with the Ace and Artie sneakers. I wish so badly that more of the Striderite shoes came in an xw, but we settle for the few styles that do because I can’t stand the thought of them wearing shoes that are too tight and uncomfortable on their feet.

I was so excited and hopeful when I saw that this shoe was adaptable enough to accommodate orthotics and read reviews stating the same. I thought surely they would be a good fit for the babies’ thick feet.

not the case! So glad other children have had success with these shoes but they did not fit either of my twins at all.

Stride Rite sent me wide width shoes instead of XW. I could tell as soon as I opened them because they weren’t adaptable. I called customer service right away who instructed me to email. In my email I asked if they could replace it with the right size or something comparable.

They emailed back saying they no longer had the width and size I wanted in this color, so the only thing they could do was give me a refund. They sent no suggestions for a comparable XW shoe. I ended up finding a shoe from Ten Little that fits my daughter really well, even though they’re not marketed as XW.

I will probably not buy her shoes from Stride Rite anymore.

My 8 year old daughter looked Amazing in her Birthday outfit with these shoes. She normally wears a size 2, however I had to return to get a size 3 because these were a bit tight. It’s a narrow shoe, so I would suggest to go up in size just in case.

My daughter has small feet that is small/medium in width. Definitely try on in store. I was able to return to store and thank goodness they had a size that fit (3). She loves them!!.

Size up! I wrongly listened to previous reviews that claimed this shoe runs large – I assure you it does NOT. My daughters wear sizes 13 & 2 in other brands and could barely get these shoes on their feet.

Sizing up to 1 & 3 – hopefully that does the trick! Also, the parent is nice, but the bow appears to be some sort of weird plastic/felt material, and looks dingy. Our bows arrived slightly dirty, however these bows will become dirty after a couple wears regardless due to the poor material.

So Nina is one of very few makers of nice dress shoes for young girls. They run generally true to size. My issue is more to the warehouse shipping and the person who was sneaky and returned them very much worn but all wrapped up again.

Sad and disappointing. Quality control was not there. Shoes were cute but arrived wrapped as new, once opened they were dirty in spots and the inside soles were completely depressed in areas where toe and ball of foot would be.

The shoes are great, however the laces are way too short. I bought two pair of these (one gray, one black) and both have laces that are so short I can barely tie them. To make matter worse, when I contacted New Balance, their customer service reps indicated that they have no way to send me longer laces.

The only recourse is that I should return them. This was their response to me asking for 2 longer sets of laces: “Thank you for contacting New Balance. At this time we do not offer replacement laces.

Total customer satisfaction is very important to us and we are currently working on having this available in the future. ” Obviously, this is an incredibly stupid response from a manufacturer. Let’s be clear – they make the shoes – in a lot of different sizes.

Which means they have laces in a lot of different sizes. But they can’t supply replacement laces? And they’re “working on having this available in the future” ? They couldn’t send a more condescending, generic, formulaic response if they tried.

Embarrassing. New Balance has been in business since 1906. They claim to be responsible and customer oriented. Yet after 116 years they cannot manage the simple task of supplying the correct length laces for the only product they make – shoes.

New Balance customer service is a joke.

These are super comfortable for my size 8 wide feet. Full disclosure: I have only ran on the trail with these once so I can’t attest to their longevity and waterproofing, but let’s be honest, they’ll probably fall apart after a year of use like all shoes do.

This is why our oceans are full of trash. Y’all really should ask for reviews 6 months out, but in the 3 weeks I’ve owned them, they’ve stood up to wet spring conditions in the Pacific Northwest. In terms of appearance, these are basic and decent looking but they might be the Grocery Outlet of trail running shoes: why does it say “Toe Protect” on the shoe? That’s a little silly.

Of course my toe is protected, it’s in a shoe! It really wouldn’t be that protected if someone took an axe to it, would it? If I was that nihilist woman character from the Big Lebowski who cut off her pinky toe to get Bunny’s ransom money? I also feel weird telling everyone my toe is protected in this shoe.

Weird flex but okay. Also, why “Fresh Foam”? Are you saying my shoes are made of foam? Or that they’re weaker than foam? Bad marketing.

My daughter picked these shoes and wanted them so badly. She absolutely LOVES them! She says they are comfortable and all the perfect colors that are her favorites! A sleek design! I was disappointed as we paid for the 1 day shipping and I saw NO WHERE on the website that the shoes would need 2 business days to process.

We were leaving on Family vacation on Sunday and I ordered these on Thursday morning thinking they would easily arrive by Saturday evening with me paying the extra $25. 99 for shipping. However, when I chatted with the New Balance company Saturday and the tracking said they were set to arrive Monday they explained that they had 2 processing days.

Maybe I am a silly person for not seeing this detail, but they were rude on the chat and I did not see this detail. So I was upset to have them not arrive in time for our vacation.

These little sneakers have outlasted every single pair of $100 European sneakers that my older kids wear…by several months! In fact, I only replaced these shoes because the Velcro straps started to lose their stickiness, but by then my son needed a larger size anyway…and of course I ordered the same shoes again! Love the look, very neutral with no silly cartoons on them, so these shoes go with everything, and the faux suede upper doesn’t have that cheap-o look that the faux leather shoes do (sorry Target) – no one can believe these were Target shoes! My little picky toddler finds them very comfortable, and at this price point they are unbelievably durable.

Can’t say enough good about these shoes. I will continue to buy them, they are highly recommended!.

We love these shoes. My son has chunkier feet and it’s so hard finding shoes that fit correctly. I’ve been buying these for a couple years now. The wide size always fits perfect and I usually buy extra sizes when they’re on sale.

I have purchased a size up before when the wide size wasn’t available. The toes definitely get the most wear because of the material but these really are the best fitting shoes. Please keep making them.

The DAY after we bought them the suede rubbed off the toe. I tried to upload pictures but it says I cannot for some reason. I have had a lot of toddler shoes; We all know about hand-me-down’s and these shoes seemed to have been designed to thwart any effort to pass them along.

My son is very hard to find shoes for as he has short, wide feet. The New BALANCE web sight has served our needs very well , both providing the size of shoe he needs as well as several different kinds to choose from.

Many other brands just don’t have the variety nor the range of sizes that will fit him. The New Balance sight does all that plus those shoes are available in some pretty cool styles as well as the colors we are looking for.

So keep the extra wide shoe selection you have New Balance. You are doing it right. Thank you!.

My brother with Parkinson’s got to the point where he couldn’t tie his shoes and we needed to go to Velcro. Fortunately his feet are small so he is able to wear the largest youth size. It would be nice if there were adult sizes in this hook-and-loop style for other seniors who are struggling with diminished physical and mental abilities.
