20 Best Tires For Wet Roads (2023 Updated)

Pricey but worth every penny so far. Currently have the previous Road 5’s (Adventure) on a BMW R1250GSA and love them. Just put this set of the Road 6’s on my BMW R1250R last week and then did over 300 miles in one day mostly sport riding, with some freeways and everything in between.

Never thought I would find a sport touring tire that lived up to the handling and feel of more focused sport rubber. that is, until now. Feel and handling are top notch. The Metzeler Z8’s that these tires replaced were good but these Road 6 tires have exceeded all expectations for both sport riding and, all around utility on the street.

Cannot yet comment on wear however for the price paid I hope I am not disappointed. (The Metzeler Z8 set that these are replacing wore out on the sides in 3000 miles of hard sport use). Did not get a chance to test the wet grip but that is not the kind of riding I mainly do with the bike I just put them on.

For reference, the Road 5 version tires on my GSA are great in the wet so I do expect the Road 6 to be good in the wet if needed.

Just installed on my 2014 KTM 1190 ADVENTURE S 19/17rims and did 260mile round trip from atlanta up to blood mountain/neels gap. Tires have excellent grip. Now I’m scaping my oversized dirt pegs and no where close to edge of the tire.

Fast riding up and down the mountain and the tires didn’t gum up/get sticky like previous avon trailrider tires so I believe the road6 could handle a trackday at much faster pace before reaching absolute cornering limits.

I was able to keep up with rsv4 naked and zh2 guys I met, watching the zh2 leave dark lines out of each corner while keeping up on these tires was fun!.

The tire is great. The service offered by Union City Walmart to mount and change it, was the worst in my life. Completely disrespectful. I arrived at the store 8 am. They finished service at 2:38 pm, with 3 tires mounted and 1 in the trunk.

Technician told that the spare tire could not be removed. I entered Walmart, bought a tool and removed it by myself. Ill never return a Walmart store. Next time, Ill go to Cotsco.

I had these tyres on my iLoad just over a month ago. These tyres handle dry condition quite well, but not so good in wet. I have lost confident on these tyres in the wet. In the wet I have to slow down to 15km at the round about to avoid skidding.

Won’t buy them again.

Bad: the noise this tire is making sound like muffler but GOOD performance of the tires provide nice grip tuned for enthusiastic driving.

I normally do not leave reviews but being I could not find many on these when I bought I thought I would help someone with their decision making.

Bare road was exceptionally quiet for such an aggressive tire, powder and packed snow outstanding one of the better I have ever had, ice as expected being there not studded but performed very well. Sloppy winter roads is where I was most impressed, in 4×4 Ram 2500 held the road second to none DID NOT pull, slide, drift ,push through corners was like truck was glued to the road.

Could not be happier with a tire purchase. Only thing will take time to assess is wear life. For the record I am a seasoned snow driver 22 years experience buying tires and driving in Southern tier of Western NY.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleIf you can find these buy them. I’ve been a Ram 1500 truck owner for over 20 years. Over that time frame and I’ve purchased Hankook, BFG’s, Nitto and other Cooper models specifically designed for winter/deep tread traction for my trucks.

The Rugged Treks are by far the most versatile tire you can own. Excellent traction on snow covered roads, slush/snow mix, ice/compacted snow mix and of course heavy rain. The rubber compound used in these tires allow for just the right amount of flex in cold temperatures which gives them bite in any condition.

I’ll use these tires for on/off road use as long as they are in production. Excellent product Cooper.

Worst tire i’ve ever purchased, the only good thing i could say about this tire is it was great for dry pavement and was quite. Now as for rain and snow your better off with bald tires than these. Tread wear was laughable!! I was going to rotate them every other oil change but wasn’t worth it, as they had only half inch of tread left.

As for the snow you can expect slipping and sliding in about an inch of snow. These tires came standard with my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4, i think Dodge should rethink there options for standard tires, cause these goodyear sra’s are absolute garbage!! Do not buy if you live in a rainy/snowy area, or if you don’t like buying tires every year!! They should call em GoodForOneYear!!! Never going to purchase goodyear again!.

I can’t speak forb this set of tires as I just bought them. However, I just replaced this same brand and make with these and they lasted 65k miles, probably could have gotten another 5k out of them, but a belt broke in one.

The delivery from Priority tire was fast and arrived as expected. They offer a 15% military discount, but it requires sending a picture of your military ID which is against DOD regulation, they should use a site like govx.

com or id. me to verify your military status.

Had 4 new Goodyear Wrangler SR -A put on my 2018 Silverado. We then took a 4800 mile trip with it. The tires ran smooth and quiet as they should have. What impressed me most was recently I picked up a bolt in the tire and by the time I could safely pull over to change the tire , it had ruined the sidewall.

I bought the tires at Walmart and had purchased the road hazard warranty. John at the Cody, Wyoming Walmart made the replacement procedure very easy and fast.

First I will start with the not amazed part. The tires are stated as 37″ (36. 6) I believe to be exact. I replaced my Federal Couragia Mud 37’s (36. 8) with these new falken ones. My federals were worn about 70%, but still had life, the wife just wanted we to swap them out.

Well at full tread the federals ran with my tune setup, and tire aize adjusted said 36. 5 I believe. Mind you that’s new. Speed forward to 70% worn, and ive now adjusted the tire size in the tune to 35.

5 to adjust speed correctly. Now swapping out the for the Falken Wildpeaks, and you would think a tire size for the tune would be 36. 5, or maybe even 36. 25, but it’s not. 4 adjustments later I am at 35″ even.

That’s a half inch under the used 37’s I just had on. It made no sense, and my mind was boggled. Mind you the tires are all aired the same, and no differences besides brand of tire and a (. 20) difference in tire size.

Was a bit disappointing, and not happy, but we will see if I buy these again or not. On to the great stuff though. The tires run soooo smooth its amazing. I pulled out of the parking lot, and that was the first thing I noticed right off.

Outstanding on road feel. Also another great thing to note is that these come with a 55,000 tread warranty. You really can’t beat that almost anywhere. Very impressed with that also. The install was a bit of a hastle.

I had ordered these on Walmart website, which by the way is better than doing it in store. I did this for a better price, and to set up an install date. Well the install date was coming up, and only 3 of the 4 tires were delivered.

I called Walmart help line, and was told by the gentleman on the phone that the last tire was only 40 minutes away, and that is will be there tomorrow for the install date. Well install date came, and no 4th tire.

You can’t install only 3 new tires, so I had to call the Walmart Auto Center and have them cancel my install appointment. Was not thrilled, and has to wait two extra days tell the 4th tire was finally delivered.

Was able to go in after work to get this finalized, but definitely was a big hassle. Depending on if I purchase tires through Walmart again, I might just pick them up to be installed elsewhere, but we will see.

As an all around tire, it shouldn’t be expected to do everything perfectly. But some say it’s the best in its class, and I’m pleased with it. I feel confident off road. Occasional highway use is fine too— there is less noise than I expected.

But if I used my Jeep as a daily driver instead of a weekend joy toy, I would have left the Michelin LTX Defenders on. They are smoother, quieter, and the better road tire. I should note that I got these Falkens as part of a 5 wheel package on this site, and they came mounted and balanced from the MO warehouse.

I won’t do that again. They were so badly balanced that my wife though there was something seriously wrong with the car. Several had to be remounted and all had to be rebalanced locally to be useable.

The tires are good after the break in period. When it’s new and you need to brake quickly to a stop, it makes the car slide. I drove very carefully to make sure I never needed to stop abruptly. In the first 6 months of breaking in the tires, I once needed to stop quickly due to yellow light turning red and the car slid.

I was driving at 40 mph and needed to stop within 100-200ft for a light and it slid. That was scary. Made me drove more carefully. After the tires break in. No more sliding problem.

I replaced Goodyear Z rated tires on my 2002 35th anniversary Camaro with these and I absolutely love these tires. Superior dry or wet weather performance and lower noise. I havent driven it in the snow yet but they are great and the Delivered Price for 4 was $288.

00!! Not apiece, for all 4. They’ll be going on my 2006 Audi Cabriolet & my 2002 Mercedes CLK Convertible next. Ohtsu is owned & manufactured by Falken, you just don’t get the expensive price. Look for the tread rating (compound), load rating and temperature ratings when choosing an appropriate replacement tire for your car-based on 2 things: what came on it from the factory & what you want to achieve.

I drive for a living (sales) so I often encounter Unexpected weather conditions, you need to be prepared for anything. All of my cars are convertibles so low noise is needed & I drive hard & fast. Ohtsu meets all of my needs.

I just can’t get over the price! I’ve paid more for ONE tire on my Mercedes before & this odd size, 245/50/16 is darn near impossible to find. I hope this helps~.

So let me start off by saying these tires are great and have purchased these in the past for my other cars. The reason for my 4 star rating is due to the shipping time. I absolutely hate FedEx and their shipping times.

I’ve always had bad experience with them, even before this whole COVID. It took almost a month. And what made it it worse is that each tire got shipped out at different times and a whole bunch of delays.

But other than that tires are great. Just wish they would change shippers.

I am a real estate appraiser and spend a great deal of timing driving in all kinds of weather. I have a Lincoln MKZ hybrid which is awful in the snow (just a side note 😉 ) I have 2 sets of 4 on this car, much higher priced than these.

When I had them installed I was absolutely amazed at the ride. I have had 41 cars in my life and never have I ever felt such an amazing difference in a tire as these. They handle great, grip wonderfully and still get me my 41 mpg.

I live in Connecticut and we do still get snow (snowing right now). The other sets of tires I couldn’t even get out of my driveway, with these I didn’t even slip. Would I buy these again, YES in a heart beat.

I am now purchasing a set for a friend and when my kids need new tires I will steer them to these as well. I almost never write reviews but these are worth one. One last thing. My tires size is 245-45-18.

I just received this in the white and it is GORGEOUS! I love this and am very pleased. This is a classy and substantial cross. Like Scott, I’m a fan of crosses for their aesthetic, as well as their spiritual beauty.

This one is beautiful! I love how it’s finished on the back and that it has a large bale. It should fit easily on just about any chain. The bale is attractive and secure. I don’t think I’ll even have to glue this one closed to keep from losing it.

I’m sure the blue is nice also and I almost bought that one. I decided on the white because I thought it was a little more classic and less trendy (just my personal opinion) and I think I made the right choice.

This looks great with all of the Jai chains I have and works with Bixby and Ripka pieces as well. I also thought the price was fair and was thrilled to get the ODO value with Easy Pays.

I bought these tires for my Nissan Armada, and with such a big tire (305 45 22) and wheel it was hard to get a smooth ride and have tried many tire brands. I ordered the Nexen HP’s online and had my local mechanics shop install them and WOW these tires are the most amazing tires i have ever had on my Armada, ultra smooth ride, quiet, and superb in the rain.

I would have never guessed this tire to be made in South Korea. I have had these tires for 2 1/2 yrs now and put a little over 30,000 miles on them so far and they still look and ride like they were brand new, my guess is that I will get close to 60,000 miles out of them and I will definitely be buying another set.

I also have a set on my wife’s Dodge Grand Caravan and they are great. I can also say that these tires tread design arent quick to pickup nails and screws like ive experienced with the more expensive name tires.

So stop being skeptical and buy a set, you wont be disappointed. Thank you Nexen for making such a high quality tire at an affordable price, and thanks to Wal-Mart for keeping them in stock.

So-so tire with terrible treadlife. I installed 2 in November 2021 in the rear of my 2021 Pacifica Hybrid. I installed winter tires on the front(I realize this is not recommended, but I just needed the traction up front to get out of my steep drive in the mornings).

After winter, they were switched to the front and other tires were installed in the rear. It is now early September 2022 – less than one year and less than 15k miles since install. The tires were fine as rears in the winter.

They are no good in the wet, slipping and sliding all over. Road noise was not overly annoying. Biggest complaints are poor wet handling and low treadlife. The tire is rated for 70k miles but only lasting a quarter of that.

Very disappointed.

I was planning on replacing my tires on my Kia Sorento as the tread was getting low and I drive a lot of miles per week. I was happy to see that WalMart had Kumho Crugen (which is what I had been running on my car) in stock so I put a set of 4 in “My Cart” to be ordered.

Before I could order them to be shipped to my local WalMart (Epping) I got a flat tire on my way home from work. The tire couldn’t be repaired so the decision of when to get the new tires was made for me.

I went to my local Walmart and asked if they had any Kumho tires in stock. They said they didn’t but they strongly recommended the Goodyear Assurance Outlast tires which are made “Exclusively” for Walmart.

They told me they have great reviews and are “as good as the Kumho Crugen Premium tires”. I asked if they gave the same smooth ride and if they were quiet, like the ones I had on my car. I was assured that they were quiet, rode smoothly and will be great in the snow.

So far, they’re WRONG on two points. The tires are anything but smooth riding. I’ve had the torque/tires checked twice at 2 different Walmarts and told them each time that the tires give a feeling of having loose lug nuts when going down the road.

Both times I was told they were OK. Also, they certainly are Not QUIET on the road. I have just over 2100 miles on these tires in the last 2 months so I can certainly say “Don’t Buy these tires”. I’m not only disappointed with the tires, I’m also very disappointed with the people that recommended them to me.

We’re talking about dumping an inferior set of tires on a (senior) customer at a cost of just under $600. I should have just used my wifes car for the 3 days it was going to take to get the Kumho tires shipped to the Epping store and installed instead of taking their word on the “Exclusive” Goodyear tires they sold me.

I’m stuck with running these tires for now.

Im not sure how to go about writing this review; however, I have had these tires for over 2 years on my car and a few months ago I took my car for service and my tires were great. Im ordering new ones, because I want new tires just in case we get a big snow this year.

Im not sure if 2 years is the standard timeframe to have tires on your car but it seems long enough for me. Actually it will be 3 years in February. Before I purchase the new ones, I will definitely go to my Honda dealer to check on the tread.

I bought these tires for an old Trailblazer that doesnt have too many years to run. I have never bought off-brand tires before, but for the price and overwhelmingly positive reviews I decided to take a chance.

My only real concern is durability. These tires are not steel belted radials, and they do NOT have a standard treadwear mileage warranty. Thats odd, but they do warranty them for defects. Without any mileage warranty, its hard to compare them to other tires.

However they do have a UTOG treadwear rating of 500, which is better than some 50k tires. There are several positives for these tires so far. First, unlike other off-brand tires, they look good on my truck.

There aren’t big letters screaming Brand X Tires on the sidewall. The tire has an attractive serrated pattern that runs all around the sidewall, with just a small “Westlake” and a “SU318” stamp. In short, its real hard to tell these are off-brand tires.

They give a soft, quiet ride with very good wet and dry traction. Hopefully they will be ok in the snow. So, in closing the only unknown on these tires is how long they will last. Stay tuned.

Put these on my daughters Lexus RX300 Thick sidewalls protect from Curb Rash. Also help in cornering. Had GoodYears on before these are much better. Firmer tire witch is a good thing on a soft 75 series tire.

Helps with cornering performance. More like the factory Michelin tires that came on the Lexus when we first bought the Rx300. Good in rain Ok in snow Great Value tire. These are made by Sumoto tires.

They balance without led on your rims. Runn true and quiet.

The tire looks…. tired! Faded looking, faint marks like it had been previously mounted, tread looks a little worn (low and smoothed). looks very used compared to the one I am replacing (2-3 mos. old) which had been punctured.

Also, imo, it took too long to be delivered as well. with too little info, too late regarding shipping.

Pleasantly surprise the new condition of the tire. Thought it was going to be used like the former company BestUsedTire. I will certainly will be getting my future tires from here.

I got a 255 tire instead of a 225 and it took 4 days to get ahold of someone at priority tire. I’m not pleased. We now have to go through a whole process of getting the tire back.

I got this after I bought the symbols of love adjustable bracelets in the paw and floral so I could wear a matching ring and this was on clearance that day so I got it in a size 8 in floral for my middle size 7 or 7.

5 finger. it fits great and not loose but is perfect. When I took this out of the box I thought of Scott as “The Man” you know, like the kind I gotta take a walk into town with! Lol. Everything I expected and more.

Well first things first, I was in need of tires bad! Last tires were dry rotting out, would air out overnight a little bit, even had camber wear, and tread loss from drifting! Finally after a year of having these terrible tires on my car, I finally decided to order these tires! I order these tires, it takes 2 days to get here! I’m at work when they get delivered, I live in a apartment complex, orders that big sit in the office waiting for pick up, I get of late and wasn’t able to pick up my tires before the office close.

The next day I had off work, but had to go in to grab something really quick was only supposed to be there for an hour tops. I left at 8am, the apartment office doesn’t open until 9am. So I couldn’t get the tires.

I leave. I have 2 cars, something told me to take the car with the better tires, but no I take the car with the garbage tires. so I’m on my way to work, not even 10 min into the drive, start hearing this off sound while I’m driving in the middle of the interstate.

then boom, my tire blew! I’m then stranded on the interstate, call my girl friend she comes and gets me, she takes me to work, so I could get what I needed, had to rush because I was on limited time.

Got to work got what I needed then rushed home, on my way home see my car with a rag hanging out the window and the interstate guys that look for stranded cars on the side of the road, puts a tag on my back window, instantly thought my car was going to be towed.

Rush home get the tires from the office, drive back to my car with the tires in the back seat, get toad side assistance. And finally the tow truck shows up. He takes me to the nearest firestone, backing my car up off the bed of the tow truck had to turn at an angle backing off of it, mind you my tire at this point is so shredded it’s almost all the way off the rim and I’m pretty much riding on the rim.

Get my car in there, takes 3 hours to replace and it’s been the smoothest ride ever since.

Tires are great for the price. But Walmart would not mount the tires. Said they weren’t recommended for my car. What the dose Walmart know about tires. Manufacturers website clearly states that my rim size is a match for tires.

Took them up the way and had them mounted no issues. Would give 1 star but review is for tire and the are good deal for the price. If you run lower pro. Sport performance tire and Walmart is best price save yourself some time and pick up and mount them somewhere else.

I am preparing to purchase my third set of these tires as I think they perform quite well for the price. I have a set on my 2001 Tacoma that I use for hauling light loads and pulling a small camper and they have performed well for this purpose.

The second set I have on my 2017 Camry XSE. These are low profile and they handle well with a quiet and smooth ride. Since I’m so satisfied with these two sets I’m ordering a third set for my Impala.

I have many thousands of miles on these tires and think they are great. If you want a good performing, quiet tire at a reasonable price then I recommend these. Most of the negative reviews are nonsensical and some complaining about delivery times which have nothing to do with the tire performance.

The only reason I gave this 1 star is because there wasn’t a way to give a ZERO. I have had nothing but problems since I purchased them. All 4. I have already had to replace the front left tire and now the front right tire is going bad.

There was a 1 year warranty on it and I called just slightly under one year and they never sold me the tires with an odometer reading to show that I never drive because I work from home since 2014 and then Covid hit so I haven’t been out since March 10.

I had to find a friend to take it to Discount Tire because the bays are or were closed at Walmart and they ended up selling me another tire. I highly suggest you don’t even think about buying these tires.

Now I have to find someone to take my car back to Discount Tire (as I am a Senior w/underlying conditions and don’t go out) to fix my 2nd FAULTY TIRE. If you never listen to another thing in your life Please listen to this DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES.

The tires themselves? How would I know? I just had them installed. I’ve had Solarus tires before and was very satisfied. Installation? Now, that’s a different animal. One of my pressure sensors was bent and the technician or Auto Manager wanted to blame it on a previous installation.

This was the first tire replacement on a new vehicle. It is now intermittently coming on since installation. But (and this is a big BUT), I believe it is from tire expansion during heat up on long trips, due to too much pressure in one of the tires.

I will verify this very shortly. The only other conclusion would be the damaged sensor. The fact Walmart is willing to change it if the sensor is, in fact, damaged, is the only reason for the 3 star rating.

i have always trusted cooper us made tires as I have had them on my other vehicles and no exception here I have the ht3 tires on my service work truck now for almost 5k miles. I do mobile mechanic and go to were the job is so tires are extremely important as my truck is heavy but not a 4 wheel drive as I occasionally go off pavement.

I have always trusted cooper tires for long time , but due to finances I had to run other tires I was not very happy with but got me by. The cooper reputation is what bought me back. I had found a great dealer whom I would recommend as its family owned and great caring service.

I was told about these ht3 tires and decided to give them a try and glad I did!!! they ride comfortable, quiet and do go great both off and on road, we get heavy downpours and the wet weather doesn’t seem to affect them.

going up a steep muddy driveway I had no issues. I have yet to find anything negative about these tires. there is no comparison to other tires I had. also the warranty i consider is much better.

This is my second full set of Cooper Discoverer LT tires. They offer good road handling on most highway surfaces. Off-road traction is almost as good, especially on wet roads. The tire design reduces noise so it is not noticeable while driving on or off surfaced roads.

With this tire, my Ram gets 20 to 21 mpg without towing and 18mpg towing. The only down side is that this LT tire lasts about 43,000 miles of normal driving on my Dodge Ram 2500. That’s about three years until they need replacement at a cost of about $300.

All you need. If you got 4x good enough unless your driven off road alot nobody does. So we t from 2757017e bgf at to these 2657017 on 9 inch wheel. They look sweet running at 60psi nobody needs to be at 80 all the time.

Gained 12. 4 in milage 6. 0l. Steering very responsive feels like performance very quiet and smooth the bumps no long we got bad roads who doesn’t. teeth rattling thats what i wanted most was noice and smoother.

I have 4:10 it really gets on it with 265. They drive and stay going down the road well. My older wider taller worn bfg felt like alignment was off but it was t they woukd hit a bump the. Go that way with no hands.

The 17×9 they look real wide but contact patch is about 9 in hes wide. Wonder know id i. Could stretch a 245 might look even cooler. They hold a high diameter there about 3 and a bit. At 60psi instead tire shop put at 80.

They really shoulder up more flating out tread more.

The price of the tires was great. I didn’t understand why I ordered 5 tires and they became 5 individual shipments delivered at different times. At first the delivery date was 9/2, then it switched to 8/26, then they switched back to 9/2, then they started being delivered on 8/28, 8/31, and finally 9/2.

My biggest concern is how old the tires are. The date code is 0819, produced in Feb 2019. These tires are for a small, classic car, so will be changed due to age rather than wear. I typically change tires at 5 years old – so 30% of the life of these tires is already gone right when I put them on the car.

I like these new tires on my wife’s car. They are round and quiet. They seem to grip the road well in the rain. But it has only been a couple of weeks since they were installed. I selected this brand because I use the same brand on my bicycle.

My Maxxis tires on my mountain bike were $80 a piece. I felt like I scored when I was able ton purchase these for about $60 a piece! Great general duty tires from a reputable brand.

I had the Road 5’s on my ‘09 BMW R1200GS Adventure. The road five was without a doubt the best motorcycle tire I have ever had on any motorcycle on the street ever in 45 years of license riding on the road.

On the dry pavement you could just keep turning until the soul of my boot under the shifter was rubbing on the ground and there was still no hint that the tire was going to let go of traction. On wet pavement it is the same.

I didn’t push it quite as hard as on the dry but I can pretty much ride as hard and fast in the rain as he can in the dry with the Road 5 and the Road 6 now I find out. The road 6 is just as grippy on the dry although I have found it a tad on the twitchy side when you’re up over 190 km an hour.

The Road 5 gave me almost 12,000 KM’s! (11696 km to be exact) Apparently they’re Michelin Road 6 is supposed to be a little bit better on total mileage. I know my mileage in my service book when I swap tires so I’ll have an exact number of kilometre set the Road 6 gets when I wear it out.

I have over 3,000 km on them now and I am thrilled with the performance. I highly recommend them.

This is my second winter on these Continental Viking Contact 7 tires. They are excellent if you drive on deep snow. You feel that you have control of your vehicle. But on pure Icy roads you have to be more cautious when you approach the intersections.

because they lose grip and they start sliding. my overall rating is 4. 5 stars.

I bought 4 of the Cross Climate 2 tires from Costco in October of 2020. They are superior on wet, icy snowy roads. In the past I have hydroplaned on other tires and on these, I don’t. I have a very difficult time getting the tires to break loose in snowy icy Roads ( I’ve tried!) get them rotated every 5-6000 miles because I drive A LOT.

I put 5000 miles on in February-march of this year on a road trip to the South. I have had 2 flat tires due to nails etc that they were able to repair. But 3 weeks ago I had a flat driving into work.

I changed the tie for the donut spare and called Costco to get in to repair it. When they saw it the next day they said I blew the tire and would need a new one. But they are having trouble ordering it Because of supply problems from Michelin? and they are trying to get the tire from another store.

It has now been 3 weeks and I finally broke down and bought a full size rim and spare because I need a car to get to work. I am a single, 59 year old woman who has only one car, and I need it to be drivable.

Hopefully you can start getting a supply chain going with Costco again so I can get my warranty replacement tire.

I got these tires for my Tesla Model 3 AWD to replace the stock Michelin Primacy tires. The first thing I noticed is that they make a bit more noise (something you notice in an EV). The wet weather performance has been pretty good, however, which is part of the reason I got them.

I drive on a lot of steep hills with curves, so having a tire with decent cold weather performance for freezing temperatures was key for me. I recently had the chance to try the tires on roads that have seen actual snow and I thought they did pretty well.

Got stuck on a steep incline covered in ice when I had to stop for traffic, but did not slide backwards and after switching to Slip Start, I was able to make my way up. There was a little lateral slip on ice bumps, but I never felt out of control.

Although brand new, I can’t help but be impressed. These replaced a set of Vredestein QUATRAC 5’s, and the difference couldn’t be more stark. I was alarmed at how squishy and wander lustful they were for the 1st 200km, they didn’t care for hard cornering.

exhibited harmonic distortion at cruising speed (120km/h) and in the end, didn’t last that long. On these so far however, noise is nearly non existent, a unicorn rarity for snow rated tires (mine is a sensory deprivation chamber of a car, even the engine noise is an artificially piped in soundtrack).

The handling even at the edge has been superb, the high speed stability rock solid having just driven for several kilometers at 160 Km/h (@ 100MPH) without any drama, and speaking of drama, we just had the 1st wet slushy snow of the year, which also included a drama free panic stop, and they performed admirably and securely.

Even if these were to suck in deep snow, I’m still extremely happy with the choice. I had picked the Vredestein’s because a) they were one of the only All Weather choices I had for my car 2 yrs ago, and b) they were, I thought, a good “value”.

These are hands down, a much better no compromise choice.
