I love the look of this but unfortunately it never seems to dry up and always retains moisture beads inside the tea pot. Then I worry that it’s going to mold the bamboo top so I remove the top but that’s part of why I like the look of it in the first place.

This beautiful kettle has an ingenious mechanism for opening the spout without burning your fingers. Others I have seen you have to lift it by hand using a pot holder or cloth to avoid being burned. For its size it holds almost as much water as another one I looked at which was very large.
In order for it to whistle you have to keep the water below the spout and the spout on this kettle is higher than others I’ve seen so can hold more water and yet have the whistle work. The whistle is not as ear piercing as my previous one yet is loud enough to hear from another room.

Tea kettle is very cheaply made. You will find when you have it in your hands and see that it weighs about an ounce. I spent a lot of time shopping for a tea kettle, and purchased this one based on the great reviews, that I no longer believe.
After about 15 – 20 uses, the inside is full of rust. I have never left water in it, I have left the spigot open after used to let it dry out, and yet it is still covered in rust. The tea kettle is pretty.
That’s it. Other than how it looks it’s absolutely worthless.

I have had this teakettle (in blue) for a few years now. I have to admit I bought it more as something beautiful to look at than to make tea with. And for that, it’s PERFECT! That said, here are the major drawbacks as I see them.
1. Awkward handles that fall down a lot. The two metal handles that close over the kettle kind of awkwardly fall down a lot, exposing them to the flame or heating element. 2. The handles conduct heat very well, so if you are using a gas stove, the handle may get very hot and you need a mit to pour the water.
3. There is no line inside the kettle telling you where the max fill water line is, so you may end up boiling water that comes belching out the front without warning. 4. There is no whistle, so when boiling water, you must stay in the room and keep an eye on the kettle until the water is boiling.
5. It’s cast iron so it’s heavy in a way that makes in confusing as to whether there is still water in the kettle or not. 6. It’s relatively small, so there’s probably only enough capacity to boil two cups of water at a time.
7. It two piece design makes it a bit clunky and awkward to wash by hand. (Which I do. ) So, yeah, I just felt like anyone else ogling this should have that information. Again, it really IS a beautiful piece and as a work of art, I love looking at it.
I just think if I had to do it over again, I would get an attractive tea kettle that had more capacity, a heatproof handle, was lighter, and, of course, had a whistle!.

I purchased this item nearly a year ago. I have loved this kettle up until 1 month ago when all of a sudden I noticed a build up of water on the stove. I initially thought I must have spilled water somehow, but low and behold when I pick up the kettle (even when not boiling) and tilt it slightly you see the dripping.
I have taken really good care of this item (no bangs, no rust, etc. ) so I’m extremely disappointed that I can longer use it. Also, I paid a lot more than the going price for this item 1 year ago therefore, I suspect I’m not the only one to complain about leaking water.
I like the large capacity and wide bottom of this kettle. It looks cool too. Problems: when, you start to pour the water out, the whistle often falls out of the spout. But the big problem, and common in products one buys on line is this: a note inside the box warns you not to leave water in the kettle, or it will rust.
Everybody leaves water in a tea kettle! They’re just telling you that their kettle is going to rust. Thanks a lot! I got a kettle from another source with a similar caveat: the handle may melt. It didn’t but the spout did.
I wanted a large kettle and this is it. The downfalls to it are that the “whistle” effect is almost inaudible unless you are close to stove, and the opener would be much better if it “locked” open while pouring.
As it is you must keep constant pressure on the lever which keeps your hand very close to the hot steam as you pour. For me these are minor details in exchange for the size of the kettle.

I had a 3-qt Mr. Coffee tea kettle in red for many years that I loved, but when the red paint on it got chipped, I bought this one to replace it. This one is very noisy – as soon as the gas heat on my stove hits the stainless steel on this kettle, it sounds like an airplane taking off! Also, the stainless steel shows a lot of water marks.
The only things that I like better about this kettle compared to my old red one is that this one is very lightweight, and the handle does not get hot.
