20 Best Tables For Small Spaces (2023 Updated)

Excellent solid wood drop leaf table. I parted with my large dining room set when I moved to a smaller home. This table fills all our needs with taking up valuable space. Well worth the money. Fast ship with maybe 20 minute timeframe to assemble.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Super easy to put together – just 4 screws how can it get any easier than that ! Works great for when you need space, just push it up against the wall and pull it out when you need it.

Would have liked it if there was more than 1 option for colour though Definitely happy with the purchase would recommend.

Real furniture you can be proud to display in your home, not stuffed in some closet out of sight out of mind. Perfect height for regular chairs, and which means it is more comfortable sitting at than folding card tables.

It is also, perfect for card games or puzzle assembling. When your not playing games it easily folds down and serves as a plant table under any window.

This is truly one of those “you get what you pay for type items” Got this for my daughter who is off to college and has a small apartment, so should be fitting. Good ole dad (that’s me) missed one of the photos when building and put a side upside down.

It’s easy to miss going by illustrations, so I’ll bite that part of the bullet. These are held together with a slew of cam locks. Having put one side upside down and secured the cam locks, you put yourself in a bind to make an easy fix.

I started an online chat with customer service through BCP (worthless cause they go by a sheet with questions and answers that don’t go for every type of issue) and they couldn’t help. Had to explain, send pictures, explain again, and eventually disconnected.

Absolute waste of time. The cam locks aren’t like IKEA ones where you can put a paper clip into the center or a sharp object to pull the lock out once loose. I literally had to disassemble everything in the reverse order of how it was built.

Finally figured that out and got to attaching the table top to the side cabinet. The braces that they supply which they weld are all messed up. I think a blind man welded these pieces because none were flat nor did they match up with the holes (had to check three times to make sure it wasn’t my error this time).

After some bending with pliers and a hammer, I got it all bolted up. Next, it was the chairs. I’m sure it’s a matter of time before someone eats the floor from the legs breaking. The metal is very cheap, and the bolts holding it together don’t seem like they’ll hold a lot of weight, so sit lightly.

All was built, and placed in a usable spot. Sat down to rest and put my arms on the table. The table top is particle board with a cheap vinyl overlay. Not too big a deal, but the first time something is dropped or ends up cutting the surface, you can tell it’ll be an issue with peeling.

Again, you get what you pay for. $300 is pushing it with this set. Maybe $150-$200. Better options from IKEA for the price. In a nutshell. Very cheap piece of furniture which requires attention to detail when building.

Good for a first time home or student, but not something for a person who needs a table that’s durable or safe for a child to be sitting around. I have it three stars just for that reason. Neither a hit nor a total loss.

Just a cheap POS table.

I bought this in July 2021 and it’s now January 2022 and I love it. People sometimes worry about the quality but it’s worked great for my husband and I’s tiny dining space in between the kitchen and living room.

The chairs hold plenty of weight (they’ve been fine with about 300lbs) and we’ve only scratched the surface once. It hasn’t become wobbly or unstable and overall was a great purchase for us. The only downfall is assembling the chairs we had to force the legs into the metal piece for your feet because it didn’t fit properly.

But honestly a less than two hour assembly for now 7 months of use is a fair trade. I would buy this table over and over, but sadly we now need a bigger one with our baby being close and us needing the high chair space.

If you’re thinking about it but it, it’s taller than I thought (I’m 5’4 and just barely touch the floor) which is great; it’s sturdy, it’s comfortable and beautiful.

I love the table. It is bigger than I thought it would be (and was pleased about that). It is very sturdy and I am using it as a desk since I am working from home. It holds my laptop, docking station, monitor and keyboard with room still to spare.

However I was a little disappointed to find, whilst building the desk, that one of the shelves did not have holes drilled in one side like it showed in the instruction. This meant I couldn’t properly assemble the desk, but I have the shelf sitting on top of the screws that were supposed to go in the holes so it still works I guess.

I did not want to wait to have a replacement delivered and can probably drill my own holes if I care that much about it later. In addition, one of the screws was not manufactured properly as it would not screw in to any of the holes, so I could not use it.

Luckily it wasn’t super critical and the desk still stands and is sturdy without it. Overall I got a quality desk/table for a great price, I just wish more care was put into making sure the right holes are drilled and that all the screws functioned properly.

At least throw in some extras in case some dont work.

I have no comments from quality perspective. It is a really nice table, sturdy, easy to assemble (we are not extremely skillful, so everyone can do it). I am a little bit disappointed with “flaps” as they kind of stick out when folded.

If I chose again, I would probably look for a table where extensions slide under or really fold down horizontally.

Good solid small table. The instructions to put it together were clear, however it required some strength as some screws didn’t fit straightforward. All in all good table, looks sturdy and fits well so happy with the purchase.

Relatively easy to assemble, it took about an hour without a drill, although with one it would definitely take much less. It looks amazing in my tiny flat, super sleek look, I love it!

6-Month warranty is a joke! Used the table 2 times. It got wet, and top began to peel later. Powell refused to replace top due to “improper use”. Tables are used for eating and drinking. DONT BUY! Whatever they use on the top of the table cannot withstand spills.

This is a very good looking pub table. The reason I only give it 3 stars is that it arrived damaged. It appeared to have been a return as when my husband removed it from the packing screws fell out and the foam packing was clearly broken up.

He could not use the same screws since they were stripped. When he called customer service they offered replacement parts which would take 3 weeks to arrive or replace and send back to them which meant we would have to try to re-pack this table.

Finally they offered to take $75 off the price which we accepted since my husband was confident he could drill new holes and use better hardware to fix it. Now it is repaired and in better shape thanks to my handy husband.

It is a very nice compliment to the decor in my new finished basement that my husband worked on for 9 months.

I had been searching for a nice quality pub table for our game room and finally found this one. The quality is excellent. From beautifully designed wood top to the overall weight of the table it looks like a much more expensive piece of furniture.

It took about less than 20 minutes to put together but is a 2 person job, for ease. We used stools that we had and they were a great match Perfect!.

Liked that is is beautiful where i needed the tables. Hate: that 1 bag was mislabeled for the bolts, so we put the wrong one in and one table cannot be used because the wood split in an irreparable spot.

Disliked: that the box arrived damaged and nearly damaged the wood inside. Disliked: how thin the wood is, good thing that the table will not have much weight on it.

Love this table! Color matches the other items in the room,it has enough storage in the one drawer and the bottom shelf has enough room to stack our books and magazines on. Also easy to assemble

The tables are more attractive in person than I anticipated. They are also sturdy, well-made and functional. The. storage space is deep and voluminous. What’s best is that they don’t take up much space.

This table fit perfectly for a little breakfast nook space. We had 2 counter-height chairs from living in an apartment with a kitchen island and without an island in our new home wanted a small table for the 2 of us to eat at.

I’ve been on the hunt for several months looking for a nice, but inexpensive table that would suit all of my needs and finally found it! I already had stools, so I needed a table to fit their height.

Also, I live in an apartment with a small dining space, so I needed it to be compact. This specs for this table fit all my needs perfectly, and when it arrived, I was even more pleased by the quality.

The table is very sturdy and solid. It’s big enough that I definitely think 4 people would be comfortable eating around it, although I currently have it in a corner since there are normally only 2 of us.

My only complaint would be that one of the legs had a piece that was nicked off at the end. However, it was the end that screwed in under the table top, so I chose not to worry about it since it can’t be seen.

I’m sure I could have exchanged it without a problem, but I was so excited to get it that I didn’t want to send it back!.

Very satisfied with my table, also bigger than what I expected which is great. Looks way more expensive than the price I paid for it, once you get it set up. You can’t always go by reviews, I read some that had me thinking my table was going to be scratched up.

There was not one scratch on my table and all the parts needed was in the well packaged box that the table came in. I don’t have any complaints. Arrived a day before the expected day. The legs were very easy to screw in table, took about 15 minutes to put it together.

The table is nice. The colour is great and the size is perfect for a condo. It doubles as a work from home table so that’s also useful. Only thing is, I’ve had it for 2-3 months and the sides are already peeling off in places and there are areas on the table where the top “oak” layer is gone and the white wood underneath is exposed.

And this is with pretty careful use. I use a coaster for all my liquids and don’t use it for hot foods or drinks. You get what you pay for and I get that so overall it’s still a good table.

It’s a great table, it wobbles a little if you don’t tighten the bolts as much as you possibly can. But otherwise I love it! Exactly as described. I recommend it if you like this style.

This is a great table for the price. So far has been easy to clean and seems sturdy. Be careful screwing in top when assembling as screw crumbled the wood at insert point. Agree with the instructions being hard to super complicated but when you get the first one done it comes together quickly.

I bought this table based on pictures and reviews and I’m glad I did. We have a small sectional coming soon and it will fit perfectly. It was easy to put together and the mechanism for lifting and lowering works well and is easy for one person to maneouvre.

I have been admiring this coffee table for years when I originally saw it on another online site. But Best Buy sold it for a much more affordable price. After one or 2 problems with the delivery service, I set out to build it, and all went well until it came to setting the pistons in place.

It took many hours and frustration, but I am determined and finally figured it out. I love the way it looks, except for 2 dings, one a big one, however it is on the underside of the table top, so I didn’t bother sending it back, (I figured it would take too long to get another one.

) It fits into my living room beautifully.

The colour of the table is quiet a bit lighter in person then the picture appears. It’s more of a mis brown colour then the dark brown/black it shows in the pictures. It is also made out of what appears to be a cheap composite wood.

My table also arrives with some chips missing out of the wooden pieces and was completely missing part of the mechanism to make the table go up and down. Not worth the high price tag. It serves my purpose but I was expecting more for the price tag.

I love my new table. Its beautiful. Very easy to put together and the perfect size for me. Update. I messed uo and spilled red wine on my table. I didn’t know how to get it out so I just covered it. While moving, my son sanded it all out and it looked brand new.

I have to add an update. I knocked over a bottle of red wine on this table. I was so upset because it’s beautiful. I covered it up with a tablecloth. When my son seen it, he sanded down the table, and now it looks brand new.

What a find! I live in a very small apartment and needed a small table to use for dining. The coffee table wasn’t working for me. I hated eating bending over most of the time because of table height or having to hold my plate.

I took a chance on this table and hit the lottery! It is perfect in everyway and now I can actually enjoy dining again in a upright position. I can have the two drop leaf’s down or up. Still a great space saver.

This table had no flaws whatsoever, has a nice finished appearance with tabletop and legs. Easy to assemble, but will require an electric screwdriver to tightly screw the hinges underneath of the extension.

With the extension, it can seat 4 people. It matched my hardwood floor just as in the picture. I would definitely recommend this table for its appearance and practicality!.

Solid construction, attractive and simple to assemble. Only issue was carrier: damaged box, plastic bag of parts tore open and screws, bolts, etc. scattered/missing. Delivery driver was watching me move container and listening to parts rattle around, then escaped before the box was opened to discover problems.

Maybe saw a few screws oh floor of van.

The Walnut Round Dining Table is very attractive upon purchase, and it’s a good size for a variety of spaces. However, I’ve been very disappointed in the quality of the table. It scratches incredibly easily.

I have relatively short fingernails, and I’ve accidentally bushed my finger against the outside surface when moving my hand and managed to scratch the table. Even moving my laptop, which has rubber protectors to prevent table damage, manages to leave permanent scratches, even when gently moved.

It makes maintaining the table difficult and a constant worry that even the most mundane of tasks — including eating and drinking — will cause significant damage to the table. The veneer that was used is clearly low-quality or defective.

I would’ve expected this issue to occur on a table a third or fourth of this price, but not on a product that’s $800. The “outreach” the Article rep mentioned has not materialized.

Adored this table and was excited about the great quality – the assembly was a breeze and it looked/felt like such a great solid table upon arrival but I am SO disappointed with the quality of the finish on the table top.

I’m over-the-top cautious person with furniture pieces like this and make a big point of not doing anything obvious that could scratch up the table top (always using coasters/placemats, not resting random stuff on the table in passing etc) and still in no less than a few days of light use we suddenly had several scratches.

Now 2 weeks in there are even more – I can’t imagine what it will look like in the next year and beyond. We don’t have kids it’s just 2 adults, couldn’t imagine a family using this table. I read a couple of reviews on this piece that mentioned scratching and I thought to myself well I’m so careful.

We had really high hopes for this table, but were really disappointed when we paired it with matching chairs. We bought the smaller version (36”) of the Seno oak table paired with 2 Svelti chairs as a space saver in our new place, which has a pretty limited dining room area.

The Seno oak table came about a week and a half after the chairs, both which we ordered early so that we could avoid moving our old dining set to our new place. The delivery process was great, and the items were easy to set up.

Beautiful table except…the chairs don’t tuck under the table. The chairs are 18” wide and the space between each table leg is less than 15”, so they don’t tuck in even the slightest bit. We haven’t been able find any chairs (by Article and any other company) which tuck under this table.

The seat would either have be much smaller or much lower in order to tuck between the table legs. Super unimpressed with the design of this table; paying $100 for the shipping and the repackaging fee to return it just adds to the disappointment.

You may want to consider either widening the stance of the table legs or changing the design to a centre pedestal before claiming it provides a compact space.

Love the table, it exceeded our expectations. Solid wood,,,much better quality than the the well known Swedish big box store. Great quality, easy to put together, well packed, shipped quickly and most of all.

I’m happy with the table. Looks real cute, but my handyman had a problem putting it together. Two of the feet did not have any pre drilled holes for the tabs to be screwed into them. I was upset because then the table would scratch my floors with out them screwed in.

Luckily my handyman put stickers on the feet for me, but I really wanted the screws because they would look much nicer. I’m waiting to see if Houzz will compensate me for this.

Awesome table for the price. Very easy to assemble, I did it myself. I did use my own socket wrench to tighten the bolts on the legs but otherwise simple to do with what is provided. The finish is nice, it is substantial and very nice looking.

I am retired and went from a 2800 square foot home to a 1000 square foot condo. I started new on everything , area rugs , art work furniture etc. I needed a small table for the open space kitchen/living and dining room all in one.

I debated back and forth on this table since the price was so low I thought maybe it would not have the quality of the bigger known decorating stores. My adult children put this together in less than an hour , if you are elderly get someone else to do this for you to make life easier.

Wow , was I surprised how beautiful it was. Perfect size for smaller apartment , I put it with two beautiful parsons chair and it seats two very comfortable. On top I have 2 faux books with green bird bookends.

My friends saw it for the first time and said, “Wow, this is so pretty I want one” lol. So, I absolutely would recommend this to other shoppers !.

Love the look (although a couple of chairs had uneven legs but can add something to fix). BUT, on the first day we put it in our kitchen, our cat jumped on the table and scratched the top. Very disappointed that the table top is not tougher to withstand a quick cat claw.

We had our previous dining table for almost 20 years and never had a cat scratch on the table top despite repeated cats jumping up. I have now purchased a thick plastic clear cover for the table to keep it from being scratched more.

Husband hates the look with the plastic on top! Chairs were also being scratched so now each set is covered with a towel.

I bought this pub height table along with four of the coordinating chairs because I love the style. I especially like the storage shelf under the table, to display a decorative bowl or vase. Both the table and the chairs were very easy to assemble, once I got all the parts.

The chairs arrived with everything ready to put together. The table, however was missing the hardware packet need for assembly. After I called Walmart customer service twice, instead of just sending the hardware packet, they had to order a whole new table, which shipped free by the way.

I just took the hardware packet from the new table and re-taped the box, ready for pickup to be shipped back to the store, which was also free. I’m still waiting for them to come pick it up, which means another call to customer service.

The color is a little darker than shown, but overall I’m very satisfied with the product. They just need a better quality control department.

We really like the set. The height is perfect and overall appearance is good and receives compliments. However one corner of the table was significantly damaged. Although table appears to be wood the damaged area (where stain was gone) was a white, resin like filler material like Bondo used in auto body repair.

We wanted to avoid the time, hassle and expense of return/replacement and we tried touching it up with stain. Whatever material the top is made of will not absorb stain. Additionally we bought 6 matching chairs.

The back of one of them was badly splintered and the veneer so thin it was almost impossible to repair. Had the set arrived in excellent condition or with a minor blemish this would be 5-Star. But evidently the quality control standards at the Vietnam factory are nowhere near where the cost of the furniture would suggest.

In hindsight we would either spend a little more for a higher quality piece or pay less for comparable quality as this one.

Love the style and look of this table. I searched for months before I decided on this one. The colors are nice and will be great with my decor. Overall very happy with this. However, the X-frame at bottom part of time doesn’t match up properly.

and the top of the table seems to be slightly warped. I haven’t contacted wayfair yet about these issues, so I will post an update later. The only other negative is there are no stools or chairs sold with the table.

It makes things a little more difficult for an interior design-challenged person like myself. I’m having to come up with my own choices and it’s hard!.

I wanted a counter height table & the pics of this table looked good but I was skeptical…because you never know. I’m really happy with this purchase. The table is sturdy & really nice looking. The assembly instructions said it was a 2 person job, which it really is- but I managed to do it myself.

Exactly the style I was looking for. I use the table in my breakfast nook. I placed 6 bar stools and it’s a bit cramped when eating all together. The quality isn’t of hard wood material however for the price and style it’s great! It was very easy to put together.

It is not very heavy either.

Great quality table – solid wood and nice finish. Design is clever and stylish, and great for small spaces. Works well with one leaf down behind a sofa and pulls out easily when needed as a table. Finding stools that fit completely underneath is a little challenging as the width is 30″ between the legs.

I was skeptical at first about buying from Hayneedle. I’ve never purchased from them before and I’m usually very cautious when buying furniture I have to build myself. I’m pretty handy/crafty and can accomplish almost any DIY task.

With that being said, this table was fairly easy to assemble (took less than an hour). I hit a snag on the last piece of assembly when trying to fit the screws into the table top. The screws either weren’t catching onto the thread so we used a little gorilla glue to lock them in.

When extending/folding the leaf, the table top wasn’t exactly flush so the foldable legs were getting caught and not folding back all the way, but if you just tug a bit on the tabletop you’ll get the legs to fold back just fine.

The table does wobble just a little bit, but not enough to bother me. A little less of a reddish color than the picture portrays (which I’m happy with). The perfect height/width for a nice little condo kitchenette like we have.

Arrived right on time! Went to store to pick it up and they were nice enough to have someone help us take it to the truck – The guy even picked the box up by himself(!) and put it in the truck bed!! Score extra points for that! It was a reasonably heavy box.

The packing was out of this world – My compliments to the manufacturer. Every piece was there; no nicks or scraps or anything out of order. A great amount of care was evident in the way it was packed.

The finish on this table is beyond rich. LOVE the drop leaf too. It’s fantastic. It’s a very beautiful table. I bought it to put in my studio for extra space to display finished work. I can’t say enough good things about this table.

It was out of stock for awhile and I waited it out because I wanted to be able to order it from Walmart so I could pick it up myself, rather than have it delivered to my home. AND I wanted the best price! This is my 2nd big item ordered through Walmart and I’ve not been disappointed yet!.

This is an okay table. It’s chipping some, we’ve had it a year now. Kids are hard on tables, but also I think you can’t use harsh chemicals to clean it. Like Clorox wipes. so I switched to our natural cleaning spray.

Other than that, it works well for a 4 top, circular table.

Table is what we expected. It is slippery on our wood floor so we had to place a nonslip mat underneath. Table also tilts whenif someone leans on the edge. Overall table should be fine for quick meals.

I live in a small apartment, and like many small apartments, this one doesn’t have a separate dining area. I have a tiny corner of the living room with which to place a dining table – so I really needed one that was nice and compact.

However, I also wanted one that was big enough to serve as extra table space for when I’m working on prepping a larger meal (because, yes, the kitchen is tiny, too). This was a bit of dilemma before I struck on the idea of getting a table with drop leaves.

Unfortunately, it seems that smaller tables with drop leaves are somewhat hard to find, but after much searching, I came across this table, the “Winsome Wood Hamilton Double Drop Leaf Dining Table. ” The first thing I love about it is its smaller footprint – it measures just 30″ by 26″ across with the leaves down, and 30″ by 42″ across with the leaves fully extended (do keep in mind, though, if you happen to be trying to jam this into some tiny niche, that when the leaves are down they still take up some space while hanging, so the table is more like 30″ by 28″ wide).

Also, I like the tiny drawer. It’s not really big enough to hold much, but I appreciate the effort at putting in a bit of storage. Plus, it kinda makes the desk look almost like a writing desk, so I could see this table serving multiple functions, making it a nice multi-purpose piece.

Speaking of versatility, I also like how the table keeps to a simple, classic style without being too boring (the tapered legs give it some visual interest), to where it could look equally well with a contemporary decorating scheme or a more traditional one.

In terms of quality, I should mention that the leaves are sturdy and stable (very much so) when extended. What’s also awesome is the fact that the table is made out of actual solid wood (with the exception of the interior of the drawer, which I’m pretty sure is made of some sort of composite.

Color-wise, it’s pretty spot-on to the online picture, and I’d describe it as a walnut color (just like the listing does). The finish is also pretty good, at least on the top and legs. The underside of the table isn’t very well-sanded (feels rough), and I can tell that they put a thinner coat of varnish on it.

So, that’s clearly where they cheaped out. Still, for a table that’s made of real wood for this price point, I’m not going to complain. Overall I’d have to say this table is a fantastic value for what you’re getting.

It’s solid wood, has a reasonably decent finish, is sturdy, and is attractive, all for the price of $120 (as of the time of writing this review). You really can’t beat that, and if you are desperately searching for a tiny dining table for a small space that still looks nice, then this really is a great choice.

It’s a nice table but did not have any instructions on how to assemble. We did figure it out but found that odd. The wood is pretty. The table had a scratch/deep grove on the top but not worth dissembling table to return.

One comment to pass on , the box weighted a ton. Very heavy just a warning to have help available. Purchased for my Mom & StepDad. Perfect size for small spaces. Attractive & sturdy. The side leaves are great.

The small drawer can store silverware & napkins. Seats up to 4 comfortably.

Looking very good, set up is very easy and simple. My wife and I are love it. When the box arrived, we thought set up will be very hard. Both of us were wrong. The table made of wood, standing up firmly, does not move at all.

Nicely polished wood. All you have do put eight screws in right position and you done. Screws and screws driver included. It has nice fancy drawer, easily you can put stuff there. Excellent retail and save packaging.
