20 Best Table Saws For Beginners (2023 Updated)

Altogether a good saw. I picked it up because of the awesome rip capacity and because it was on sale. I tested it right away cutting a decent amount of red oak and white oak boards. I am a carpenter and i am working on flooring jobs once in a while.

The motor is pretty powerful and handles oak very well. That s a big win in my book, and i can honestly say i was really trying to push it to the limit, popping the barkers twice. I can t say i was impressed with the dust collection though, but to be fair it’s not great for table saws in general.

Not really impressed with the flatness of the table either which is at the limit of acceptable on my saw and also the paint was chipping in certain places also. The fact that is has a bunch of critical plastic components make me pretty worried and i would have returned the saw but it’s not really my main saw so i am eager to see what the future holds.

The fence system it’s pretty awesome, almost identical with the one the yellow brand has. That was actually a selling point for me, i would consider it medium duty though and i was already wondering if i can find parts in order to replace it , just in case.

I want to be honest t, i would not pay full price for this saw. i would go to industry standard buy sadly i consider that one at least 100$ to 150 $ overpriced. Regardless, after finding this Metabo saw on sale, using it , studying it, thinking about the wear and tear, abusing it a bit even to actually decide if it will be returned right away, i am actually pretty pleased with it and will probably recommend it to a fellow tradesman.

For the sale price it would be best bang for the buck in this category in my opinion. I have been working with a multitude of saws for the past 20 years.

I, and apparently, a lot of others have had trouble with the riving knife aligning with the blade leading to “snags” as the board tries to make up the difference. Simple fix. First, have a beer or soda; soda might be better.

Next, cut a thin slice of the empty can, maybe 3/8 wide. Attach some double stick tape to one side of the shim. With a long nose plier, slip it between the knife clamps on the side that needs shifting.

Mine was the main body, not the movable jaw. Attach to the fixed jaw, not the knife. I found one layer of aluminum. aluminium for you other English speakers. and one layer of tape works perfectly. so far.

2 thicknesses of aluminum was too much. Some suggest bending the riving knife, but what if you overdo it? This is, at least, reversible.

After over thirty years with my old Craftsman table saw, it was time to replace it. I needed a full size table saw but also needed mobility as I need to use it nearer my job sites. Searching for a new saw, I came across this Skill 10 in heavy duty worm drive table saw with a unique and very well designed transport stand.

I am very impressed with the whole package. The stand is so easy to set-up and collapse, literally a foot peddle and one motion to get it set to use. The saw table is just as big as my old fixed table saw and the added extras like extend material supports and rack & pinion fence make this the perfect saw.

They even thought or storage places for ALL the extra attachments. The power and cutting speed are great as well. If you need a great mobile table saw, buy this one.

This saw started out exactly as I hoped. Being a 15 amp motor over the 13 amp Rigid, I thought this was the best choice. I’ve owned the saw 2 years with very little use. I generally ripped plywood mostly.

I now have burnt the motor out. I cleaned it each and ever time after use as I’m very particular with my tools and tidiness. In hind sight, I should have bought a saw with a bigger table with extensions as your limited to size of material even with the little pull out on this saw.

Give it some thought, I’m not bitter but was thinking it should have lasted a bit longer.

I purchased this about a year ago when Acme had a promotion with Costa del Mar sunglasses. That was a great deal. My issue with the Bosch is the fence. It’s never straight and mine has a very slight curve to it.

I spent several weeks researching various modles of “Jobsite” or portable table saws: Skil, Metabo, Bosch, Sawstop, Rigid and of course DeWalt. I looked at many features: blade size, width of rip (able to rip a plywood sheet in half) , type/design of rip fence, stand design, set-up/alignment/adjustability for accuracy, motor power, etc.

I also read many, many customer reviews. One saw stood out for me, DeWalt DWE7491RS. It got high scores for every attribute that was important to me including a competitive price. I bought it yesterday and set it up today.

The quality of the build is excellent. All of the power train, controls and adjustments are metal. The alignment of all the critical components was near perfect right out of the box. I did find that there was shipping damage to the fence.

I called DeWalt customer service and a replacement fence is on its way at no charge. The table is flat, the blade is perpendicular to the table and the fence is parallel to the blade within 1/64 of an inch.

The blade comes to speed in a moment and does not dim the lights or pop the breaker. When folded up, it only takes about 4 square feet of floor space. It is relatively light weight and can be easily set-up/broken-down/moved around.

The legs are strong and steady given the angled attachment. I am happy with my choice, it is the right saw for me. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants a high quality saw, moderate price, and compact size.

I recently moved and had to leave my 30 something year old craftsman table saw behind knowing I would have to replace it. When I looked at all of the saws at Lowes one thing was very apparent-You can buy a cheap table saw and that’s what you’ll get.

I really didn’t want to spend as much as I did for this saw but when it went on sale I couldn’t resist. Anyway, assembly of the stand was really easy and straight forward. The saw bolted right on and the stand is a breeze to stand up and put out of the way.

The only adjustment I had to make was a very minor adjustment of the plastic scale for zero. All of the cuts I have made so far have been dead on. I didn’t have to make any adjustment for the fence, It works smoothly and was parallel to the blade.

It’s really neat the way that there is storage for all of the accessories to keep them out of the way. If I had to complain about anything it would be about the supplied wrenches. They are very thin and will deform if you tighten the nuts and bolts too tight.

All in all I think this is a quality product and well worth the cost especially when compared to cheaper saws.

This is my first time purchasing a contractor saw–gotta say I’m impressed with this DeWalt model. i used it for recent renovations on a home cutting trim work and plywood for various jobs around the house.

Everything was cut accurately with no issue with lack of power. I have not tried using this saw to it’s full rip capacity, but I do like how they designed the fence/table system to allow larger rips on plywood–will be interesting to see how it works out.

Right out of the box assembling this saw, I like how all of the accessories were neatly stored on the saw for transportation. The push stick is stored right there on the fence within easy reach when it’s needed.

I was surprised how easy it was to load in my truck afterwards, tilt the handle on to the tailgate–lift and slide, went in super smooth. I would like to see a zero clearance insert included or even available, the opening on the included insert is a little large and on smaller pieces it was a bit dicey.

A Dado insert is available separately. Overall very impressed with this saw and would recommend it.

This saw is very simple to assemble and to calibrate it is the Cadillac of the saws

This saw has a lot of power and will pop breakers if there is anything else on the circuit. After reading the directions I thought I had the roving knife installed properly but if fell on the start of the saw sending metal shards into 2 people’s faces.

The I tried a second time- same thing and then I found the lever holding the roving knife in place needed a further 1/8 turn to lock it. I’ve used a lot of saws and this is the worst design I have ever seen.

The saw needed the fence adjusted 1/16 of an inch. The table could be just a bit bigger. Once I got it set up I’m ok with it but if you get one of these be careful of the “safety equipment”.

This saw showed up obviously used but in good shape. Like some other reviews have stated, the Arbor does seem to have a bit more runout than maybe it should. Also the riving knife is not lined up perfectly with the blade so stock will hang up on it causing me to have to shift it to get it started.

That’s annoying. I haven’t figured out yet if there’s an adjustment for that or not but honestly, like every other jobsite table saw ever, I’ll probably end up taking it off and losing it. So in the end it won’t really matter.

One other thing I noticed is the 0 degree marking is square to the table on the fence side of the blade but it’s not square to the table on the left side. There would be no way to adjust this out short of having a machine shop flatten the table.

Odd for a cast aluminum table saw table I would think. At lest the side that counts is square. So far I’ve used it for one window re-trimming job, it cuts very smooth and powerfully. I really like that part about the saw.

it powers right through 2X stock without any trouble. The adjustments are super smooth and easy to use which is nice. The saw showed up with the fence indicator already dialed in which was a nice treat.

Also the size and weight are super convenient. This saw, despite it’s shortcomings will probably be a great jobsite saw for me.

I’ve been a professional cabinetmaker for thirty years and have been using Bosch products for the last twenty. I’ve always been a huge fan, and in almost every case I would choose a Bosch tool before I would use anything else.

Ten or so years ago I purchased the Bosch 4000 table saw and it has been a joy the entire time I have owned it. I didn’t talk about my saw, I gushed about it. Recently the speed control failed rendering it unusable.

The timing was right, and since I do mostly jobsite work now I decided to downsize to a compact version. The new GTS1031 had just hit the market and I had been salivating over it since the first time I laid eyes on it, so the first time I had enough extra money in a job I bought it.

Beautiful packaging, great looking design, easy to carry. and then I turned it on. The hideous jolt from the direct drive (with no soft start like my old saw) literally startled me to the point that I jumped, which anyone who knows me will tell you that takes some doing.

The loud scream of the blade sounded like my old Bosch saw when the speed control went out. It literally sounds as if the saw is going to come apart at the seams. I purchased a new, nicer blade, thinking that the cheap factory blade might be the culprit, but this just made things worse.

With the new Freud Diablo blade attached you could actually see a solid 1/4″ side to side deflection of the blade upon initial startup. There were a few other small issues that I noticed (nothing that would have prevented the enjoyable use of the tool that I expected), but Bosch’s unfathomable decision to not include a soft start feature on this saw is an absolute deal breaker.

I can’t even imagine the Bosch R and D engineers standing around this saw and patting each other on the back, unless the power was out that day so they couldn’t hear it run. As a professional who finds great joy and satisfaction in the use of a fine tool I’m literally offended by this thing.

I used the tool for a week to make sure I wasn’t being unreasonable, but when other workers on the jobsite began making comments that confirmed my dissatisfaction I decided to take it back. I think, for now, I’m going to repair my older Bosch saw, get back to the good old days, and try to forget this ever happened.

Dewalt. I have been a Dewalt Fan since I got married and my dad made sure I had a 4pc Dewalt Kit Jobsite Radio to Match. He wanted me to have quality tools since so was a newlywed 1st time home owner.

Dewalt has only gotten better over the last 20 years. The batteries have gotten smaller lighter but the have 60x more power. They make high quality products that preform and are super durable and quality.

It’s worth the money to have quality tools. Yeah you can buy much cheaper tools at Harbor Freight that have a “lifetime” warranty. So that means you will be spending you valuable DIY saturdays in line returning a junk power tool for a new one that will last ten minutes and once again your driving back to exchange.

Buy quality and buy Dewalt. They are the very best power tool available in my opinion.

This most recent purchase is a replacement for my first DW745 saw purchased in the spring of 2012 (and then stolen). This replacement saw is exactly as the first saw in build quality and excellent performance.

Out of the box, changing the blade from its supplied 24 tooth blade to a Dewalt 40 tooth blade and checking for proper alignment, the factory settings are spot-on with only a slight difference between the blade tilt and its scale.

That’s not an issue since fine tuning of blade angle is always performed by sample cuts before workpiece cuts. How many table saw can cut edge banding veneer exactly the same dimension, cut after cut in all types of lumber? This saw does.

The only improvement one might ask for is an upgrade to the existing mitre gauge. That said, the existing gauge when fitted with a 3/4 finished plywood or 3/4 S4S hardwood as a sacrificial fence does an adequate job of repeatable accuracy if you furnish a slight continuous lateral pressure to the gauge (toward or away from the blade) as you advance the stock through the blade.

Lastly, the rack-and-pinion geared fence is highly accurate, stable and a joy to quickly zero-in on repeatable dimensions for any project cross-cuts required. The DW745 portable saw is an incredibly capable saw for the price!.

I bought this saw some ten years ago and have been using it A LOT in the process of major remodels of over a dozen houses in Hawaii and then it went into my furniture-building business as a standby when the contractors saw was set up for another job.

I LOVE the quick-adjust fence that takes a lot of knocking around and stays true-square. The only gripe I have about the saw is the clutzy design of the dust cover on the side of the lower blade housing.

The housing under the blade gets jammed up with anything small enough to get past the insert-to-blade clearance, so that cover needs to be removed to clear the jam and get the dust collector to start working again.

The four tiny wingnuts are a royal pain to access and to remove/replace. My contractor saw has this same piece hinged at the bottom and uses two slide-clips at the top to release it enough to clear jams.

I use the DeWalt stand, securely bolted to the saw, and I can shove a sheet of plywood through the saw and it never tries to tip backward. Bottom line, a well-designed tool that serves a contractor (me, in this case) better than any of the others I’ve had over the years.

There are a few others that are up there in overall quality, but that clever fence tips the scales in favor of the DeWalt.

I am giving this a one star on performance. I am a general Contaractor and bought this saw for the second time. The first saw ran great and lasted 4-5 years so I thought when the motor burned up, I would be safe to buy a second.

I was wrong. The assembly to raise and lower the blade gummed up in the first month. This new saw was well taken care of. I never forced the material through the blade and I almost obsessively blew the saw dust out to insure a long life.

While ripping a 3/4” piece of finish material, the motor SEIZED UP!!! This happened just after the regular warranty expired. Go figure. You can’t buy anything that is well built these days. I will say, that I like their stand, body and table of the saw.

However, it just makes for a polished turd. If you buy this get the extra 3 year warranty. It may cost a hundred dollars up front but you will save $600 the following year when this breaks on you. Good luck.

Motor vibrate when making the cuts. Looks like the lifting mechanism parts are made with very wide tolerance. The shafts and pins are very loose, and there is no way to adjust that or tighten it up. So when Motor is under slight load the whole mounting bracket is vibrates causing the blade to vibrate therefore it’s impossible to make a relatively smooth cut.

Tried different blades, tried different adjustments and different thickness materials, still same result. My skilsaw making better cuts. Dewalt table saw seems like doing a better job. I’m from Seattle wa.

Purchased the saw in September 2021. Anyone else having the same problem?.

I bought this saw 3 months ago was doing fair. The fence does not set evenly you have to constantly adjust it so you get a straight cut. then I was adjusting the blade down and the adjusting knob stripped.

A cheap piece of plastic with a flat spot on it to turn the shaft to raise or lower the blade rounded off inside. Its going to take a week to 10 days to get not to mention that bosch’s web sight said the model number didnt exist.

Received this today to replace a 10+ year-old Delta 10″ saw of comparable price range (i. e. when I bought it I was not bottom-feeding, but I was not too far from the bottom). The Delta served me well these years in both light commercial and happy-homeowner use–it did not however survive last Saturday’s 6 ft.

fall from the scaffolding. Not its first fall however the cast aluminum table and plastic main body did not do well. But enough of that, to the issue at hand: I like this new saw. It is as well designed and built as one has any right to expect at this price point, the stand is remarkably well engineered and quite sturdy; the twin tab and dual toggle method of mounting the saw to the stand is near genius.

My unit exhibits none of the blade wobble during raising and lowering that another documented (if it had it would be one its way back first thing in the morning); nor do I feel that the plastic hand wheel for the blade hoist, or plastic lever for locking the bevel angle are inadequate to their roles.

Blade alignment in all relevant planes was dead on as delivered (BTW the packaging was good with the saw itself and main stand component tightly held in place by Styrofoam blocking). The blade/motor hoist mechanism is of a straight vertical lift design with the cast aluminum motor/arbor assembly riding on two vertical rods mounted in a substantial steel base.

One rod plain and one “worm-gear” threaded mating to a nut in the motor/arbor assembly. The threaded rod carries a bevel gear that mates with a similar gear on the crank shaft for raising/lowering the blade.

It is a much more rugged and elegant design than the simple pivoting motor/arbor utilized on my old Delta, and many similarly priced new saws. That the tilt/bevel lock and blade hoist crank are mounted concentrically is a nice touch.

Often on my old saw the bevel clamp was above the elevation crank and often interfered with each other’s motion. What else? It does start with a jolt, as do most lower-end direct drive table saws–my Delta did that for 10+ years, had it survived the fall I suspect it would have done it for another 10.

When spun up it is surprisingly quiet for a 10″ saw, spinning down is quiet as well indicating that the reduction gears are well fitted and aligned. The included 28 point carbide blade seems to be of good quality, it is nonetheless a 28-point blade.

I will keep it for some future use, however I installed a relatively new 60-point Diablo blade I had used in the Delta (RIP my old friend). The table on the old Delta was unfinished cast aluminum and had to be sanded and “steel-wooled” now and then; the cast aluminum table on this saw has some coating/finish that feels “hard” to my finger nails–time will tell about that.

Being an older fellow (72 last April) I removed the riving knife and did not install the anti-kickback pawl and silly plastic guard–how does having to look through a sawdust encrusted and filled plastic cover to see the blade make me any “safer”? When cutting stock that needs it I always have a pocket full of small hardwood wedges, and to be honest the dreaded “kickback” is not all it’s laid out to be once you have learned to know when it’s eminent, and what to do at that time.

It was missing one crucial piece, the extension backrest fastens to a couple of steel tubes using two M5 x 16 Phillips pan-head machine screws and two flat washers. Oddly the packet intended to contain same did have it full contingent of four pieces, but it was one screw and three washers.

Not a big deal as just a bit of rummaging turned up a couple of M5 x 6 socket caps that did the job. One other assembly issue is that the hand wheel for the blade height adjustment is not fitted to the saw as received, and as shown in the owner’s manual which provides no instruction as to how to install it.

It was packaged separately with a flat head M5 screw and a small coil spring. Being an engineer (MSME) it took just a glance at the stub shaft to determine how to position the springand install the wheel–for many I fear it would not be that obvious.

It either needs to be shipped installed, or some addenda included to indicate hoe to do same. So, that’s all I have to say about that. I like it, it is a great value and my goal is to keep it off any scaffolding for at least a couple years.

I’ve always liked Skil tools because they were great value for the money. I still occasionally use the Skil circular saw and 1/4″ drill which my dad bought in the 1950s. The height adjustment nut on my old Skil table saw tore out (not ‘wore out’ — the threads literally came out of the block), and naturally, the screw, which was damaged beyond repair when the threads failed, is obsolete and not available anywhere.

But it was a great saw for many years — I got my money’s worth out of it long, long ago, so I decided to get it’s equivalent new model. Upon first inspection, I wasn’t impressed with how light/thin some parts are, but it has some great features and I don’t do a lot of heavy cutting, so I decided to live with it.

The instruction manual was obviously written by someone who never actually saw this model. The handle isn’t installed, and there are no instructions. This isn’t a packing/assembly error — the saw can’t even be put in the box with the handle on! Is there a purpose for the spring in the same bag as the handle? We’ll never know.

I did the assembly and mounted it to my bench. When I began checking the blade for square and parallel to the slots, I found the blade wobbled. I took it off, checked for burrs/dirt/etc. , replaced it, and made sure everything was tight.

Still wobbled. Put on a blade I knew was good. Still wobbled. Installed another blade just to make sure. Still wobbled. So I checked to see how bad it was. T. I. R. was 0. 0162! How can you hope to get an accurate cut when the blade wobbles more than 1/64″? I investigated a little and found the whole motor mount moves.

Maybe there’s an adjustment for it? I’ll never know: the instruction book doesn’t say, and I’m convinced that “Skil Customer Service” is a myth. I sent both letters and e-mails when trying to fix my old one — even though I always clearly stated: “Because of my disability, I cannot use a telephone,” Skil’s only response was instructions to call them! It’s back in the box now.

It’s the first Skil tool I ever considered returning, but it’s going back within the hour,.

Great value proposition with some innovative features you would not expect to find on a table saw at this price. The built-in sliding table extension, retractable out-feed bar, modular riving knife/anti-kickback/blade guard, and portable stand are all well designed.

Again, details not typically found on less expensive job site saws. Great thing is you don’t lose a bit of job site function and portability. These features only serve to enhance its job site capability.

With good setup, application and in the right hands, this table saw is quite capable above and beyond the DIY user’s needs. It is not a $1,500 cabinet saw, but will more than hold its own in the job site class.

Simply can’t be beat at this price.

Members of my family and I have been long time users of Milwaukee tools and I recently got M18 table saw and had an issue that was resolved by the customer service team. They went well above and beyond my expectations and successfully resolved the issue and I have only positive remarks about my experience.

I recommend getting the saw table accessory, it is very easy to use and greatly improves the stability of the saw. The saw itself has some nice features such as ease of use, portability, component storage and power! I do a lot of outside work with my tools and prefer battery tools as they eliminate the need for A/C power and allow for remote work environments.

In my many years of experience Milwaukee tools have proven to be the most reliable tools and deliver the power to perform to my expectations.

The quality applies also to side and rear table extension accessories:Quite surprised with their strength. Each supported with two extending chrome plated solid rods. The rear support bars exceed 1/2′ diameter.

I do not think anyone could possibly be disappointed with this saw. A good deal of thought is incorporated in the design. Certainly not a con, simply an observation: My stacking dado type blade fits well.

My “wobbly” style dado is too thick to get past the dust enclosure which surrounds the bottom of the blade. The stacking dado set at 3/4″ works well. I have owned table saws more than 40 years.

I bought this saw 7 months ago and its falling apart. The fence no longer is square (I have to double check in front of the blade and the back to make sure its square); the measuring lines on the table are not accurate; now the blade lifting mechanism is jamming! I have bought my first and last Ryobi product! Home Depot returns and Ryobi were not helpful at all in resolving my problems.

I’m stuck with a saw that probably won’t last more then a year and I’ve only built 4 small projects with it.

The saw itself is the most solidly designed table saw I have ever seen. If you are looking at this listing, then you already know the extensive list of features that are unique to the Unisaw: dual up-front controls, terrific dust collection, sealed angle indicator, a blade guard that doesn’t get in the way and might actually be a guard rather than a hindrance (although I don’t care for the anti-kickback pawls), and massive, massive construction that isn’t stingy with iron.

I was very impressed with the crating of the saw – a plywood box that protected the saw during shipment. The truck driver was kind enough to help get the pallet into my shop, even though he didn’t have to.

The cast iron was covered in oil (with a plastic sheet covering) that was easy to remove with mineral spirits and about a roll of shop towels. The uncrated fence rails were not as well protected. The cardboard was torn in several places and may explain why one of the end caps was missing.

The cast iron table and wings are ground with sharp edges. I thought I was measuring a mismatch between the main table and the extension wings because I couldn’t get the edges to line up. That went away once I eased the edges slightly with a file.

My only complaints about the saw are related to the fence. 1- The plywood faces on the rip fence sit too low at the guide rail end and rubbed on the table. I had to raise the guide rail with washers.

(Yes, I used the installation guide template when I installed the guide rail. ) 2- The extension table is a joke: very, very poor quality, crumbly composition board with a strange laminate on top. It’s pretty obvious this comes from a different factory than the saw.

I would be a little more irritated if I wasn’t already planning to replace it. Still, a saw of this caliber deserves better. 3- The measuring tape on the right side wasn’t installed correctly, bulging up in several places.

There is no way to remove and replace it, so I had to buy another Starrett adhesive rule to replace it. In the big picture, these are small, fixable annoyances that don’t diminish the satisfaction of working with an amazing machine.

I purchased this saw last October and was very excited when it arrived. I spent several hours putting it together before I noticed that the main cast iron top was alarmingly out of flat. I found one area that was.

025″ low. Since this spot was near and to the right of the blade, I decided that this saw was not safe to use. I contacted Acme and was referred to a Delta rep who told me to box the saw back up and send it back.

While I was not looking forward to wrestling the 600 pound machine back on the pallet and piecing the crate back together, I was happy that I was going to get a replacement. I spent at least 8 hours re-crating it, then 4 days after the talk with the rep, he called again to inform me that the saw was within specs and that they would not authorize it’s return.

I asked to be referred to someone with the authority to overrule this decision. It took about 2 months, several emails, photos and tenacity on my part, but I finally convinced Delta to authorize the return.

The new saw’s top checked out to be acceptable with the lowest spot being. 008″ out of flat. The extension table was moderately bowed, but I was able to force it flat when installing it by taking advantage of the rigid fence rails.

My thanks to Jeff N. at Acme for his help. He had reassured me that my defective saw was a rarity and that in his 4 years at Acme, he had not seen another saw returned.

Bought this model unisaw when it first came out, after having owned the comparable Jet Xacta saw just prior. While the Jet is good. the Unisaw is much better. My Unisaw would pass the “nickel test” even with a Freud blade installed.

The Jet would not pass the “nickel test” without a blade installed. Also love the dual front cranks and the large angle indicator.

My ancient Craftsman 10″ portable table saw’s motor is really starting to struggle when ripping anything thicker than 1/2″, so decided to replace it. I looked at some more expensive options, but this saw had a lot of features and good specs for the money, so I decided to give it a try.

Setup was easy and I love that the measurement scale on the adjustable fence actually corresponds well to the blade. I had established an offset for my old saw’s fence, but I could never get it to stay put for more than a few cuts before having to realign it.

I ripped 48′ of 1×2 with this saw and the first piece matched the last with no adjustments. Due to the interference caused by the kickback preventer and blade guard on my old Craftsman, I had trashed those years ago, but the ones included with this saw work flawlessly, so I expect they will remain installed.

In addition to the 1×2 rips, I have cut several samples to test this saw and it has ample power and the included blade does a decent job on crosscuts & bevels as well as rips. The bevel adjustment isn’t as easy to use as I would like, but I will get used to it.

Overall, I would say that controls, adjustments and performance are outstanding compared to what I’m used too. So far, I am very please with this investment and would recommend it if you are in need for a do-it-your-selfer, job-site or hobby saw.

This Hercules rack and pinion table saw is awesome. I was able to create 3 really nice Victorian farmhouse pieces for our two bathroom renovations. I created 2 Victorian farmhouse medicine cabinets, one with a mirrored door and a Victorian farmhouse vanity.

All 3 pieces came out absolutely beautiful, thanks to the extreme precision of this table saw. The medicine cabinets have a series of 8 saw cut slots on the inside of both sides, for the insertion of an aluminum strip, which serves as a shelf support.

I was able to cut 32 slots, 3/8 inch deep x 2 inches apart, in 4 cabinet sides in less than 10 minutes. Using the rack & pinon fence as a stop and moving it every 2 inches was a snap. All the required slots, steps, etc for all 3 cabinets were created using this table saw, to include the perimeter slots in all three cabinet drawers for the Luan plywood drawer bottoms.

The rack and pinion fence is a really great feature of this saw. I was able to section a full 4’X8′ sheet of 3/4 inch plywood, using this saw. The sections were used for all 3 projects. One suggestion I have for folks, tighten everything up good prior to your first use of the saw.

I don’t have a lot of experience with high end table saws, I am a hobbyist and handyman. My original table saw was given to me free with a bad power switch and gouge (made by the saw blade) in the fence.

I fixed it and used it for several years until the motor and bearings recently quit. So I searched and compared table saws in the $300-$375 price range. I looked at the DeWalt because I have a few cordless drills and an impact wrench.

I have had good luck with DeWalt. But in this price range the DeWalt has a smaller cutting blade. I also looked at the Skil table saw. The Skil had decent ratings but the gears that raise and lower the blade are made of plastic and I was afraid they would fall apart after a period of time.

I really did like the fold up legs on the Skil though! I also looked at the Ryobi and it was kind of a cheap feeling table saw. So I decided on the Hercules table saw instead. It looks pretty well built, it uses metal gears which raise and lower the blade (motor housing) and it has the rack and pinion fence feature.

The fence rack moves smoothly. I set up the table saw with minimal effort. I checked the angle of the blade at 0 degrees and it was true. The blade itself does have quite a bit of run out! For my needs the blade is just fine, a better quality blade can be purchased if needed.

The lever to lock the rack and pinion on my saw was very tight to unlock and lock so I found an adjustment for it underneath the table. I loosened up a jam nut and rotated the actual adjustment nut. This took care of the problem.

The Hercules table saw is a bit on the heavy side compared to my old saw. Unfortunately there is no table offered for this Hercules table saw. A rolling fold up table would be convenient. I have only used this saw a few times to rip some 2×4 so I can’t comment on the durability.

I do have one slight negative on this Hercules table saw; to change the saw blade angle you have to use two hands to move the round saw height adjustment. There are no detents throughout the range. This makes it a little tricky to get a perfect angle.

Detents at 0 and 45 degrees would be a nice feature, also a lever to adjust the angle instead of the round knob would be a bonus.

Have had this for a month. Needs some adjustments when setting up as factory settings slightly off (to be expected). Main things were adjusting mitre fence, parallel fence, and surprisingly the riving knife/ guard holder which was not parallel to the blade.

That said adjustment was simple. Cuts superbly with no loss of motor speed even with 3 inch olive ash. Dust extraction is really good using HVLP cyclone rather than Festool extractor. RH and Rear extension tables easily adjusted, sliding table smooth and accurate.

Not intending to stick my fingers in the blade to test the saw-stop function, but reassuring to know it’s there; wish I had it in previous saw but my remaining complete fingers are feeling happier now.

I have had this machine in operation for a couple of weeks so still getting to know it. A well made precise table saw, although a little fussy putting together especially side extension and sliding carriage.

The biggest dissapointment is the lack of a fine adjusting stop with scale for repeat crosscuting, not a difficult part to incorporate really. The on/off etc. switches need a bit of understanding because of the SawStop.

It’s still a great machine though.

Parts missing when it arrived. Rectified straight away but coming on the back of a missing Festool drill and impact driver left me feeling somewhat disappointed.
