20 Best Synthetic Gut Tennis Strings (2023 Updated)

I was using Wilson NXT and found it’s power great, however, these strings broke every two weeks. I spoke to a professional stringer and asked him to suggest a string that had the power and control, but didn’t have to be restrung as much.

This is how I discovered Wilson Resolve ( Wilson Spin ). Once I used it , I had a feeling of control and of power. The strings are hectagonal in shape and seem to hold the ball for a millisecond langer giving me the control and power that I desired.

In addition to these features they come in a variety of regular black and white , but also the more brighter shades of yellow, green and orange. Professional stringers tend to point you away because they would prefer to sell you much more expensive string or combinations.

I noticed the difference playing in the Palm Beach County Senior Men’s Tennis League. In fact our team actually won that league’s first in division, semi finals, and finals a day after a professional stringer referred to them in a fairly negative term that I refuse to put in this otherwise truthful and totally realistic and personal experience.

My wife plays tennis frequently and needed a new stringing, so I told her to choose the co,our and try these Resolce 16 strings. Right from the first game or two, she got used to it, and found it easier to control, add in some much desired speed, was easy to get used to.

In conclusion, I believe that these stings can be adapted to anybody ‘s game and also great for use of ladies and men of all levels. Once again, don’t be afraid to test it out on your racquet of any type, size and power rating.

Again, don’t let the cheaper price fool you. I’m a better than average player and string my Resolve 16 strings at 58 lbs. Enjoy tennis, have etiquette , and don’t stop loving the game.

Worst string ever – never buying this again. First of all – while it says “power”, it sorely lacks power. I was fine with it for practice since a little less powerful string forces you to generate your own power with better follow through and that would be good when playing with my regular string that does generate power.

The string started fraying in my 2nd outing of casual hitting. String broke within 5-6 times of casual hitting – not even playing a game. My regular string keeps going for ever – at least 20-25 high quality usage.

When you factor in the high price of this particular string and the stringing costs, not only the string was very expensive per-use, I would not use it for my regular game play. I had a couple of extra string and one of my friends wanted to buy it from me but I wouldn’t even sell it him given the complete lack of durability – did not want to burn my friendship.

I am an intermediate player who can now feel the difference in better rackets and strings. After first playing a 1st Gen Pure Strike with XCel strings, I demoed a 3rd Gen Pure Strike with XCel strings.

I noticed more weight in the handle on the 3rd Gen and it felt more solid. Then I bought a 3rd Gen and put the natural gut strings on the mains and XLU Power on the crosses. That racket and those strings made a world of difference in my game of placement and ease of a power serve.

It was very noticeable. I say you need the right racket AND strings now. Mains @ 54, Crosses @ 50. Works for me.

I LOVE THIS STRING. Granted I go back and forth between this and 4G instead of ALU Power. However, I love the feel of this string and it rewards me if I hit right. I string my racquet very tight, and this string holds up beautifully.

It gives me great control and power. If you want a hybrid setup or new strings at all this is a must have. The ALU Power is “rough” which gives you more bite on the ball. I also have the Babolat gut and RPM blast in a racquet.

That is a great string combo, but i prefer this one more because of the power it gives me.

Used this string at 57lbs in my ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro (325). It provides solid spin and plenty of power. I think I might actually increase the tension next time to decrease the power output. Tension maintenance was also very good in my experience.

The yellow string also looks great in my opinion.

I felt discomfort hittiing groundstroked with a 4.5 player. It ‘s Just average string.

Wilson Sensation is my go-to multifilament string for the average player. Good durability, good comfort and doesn’t break the bank. Can be used as a full set or as part of a hybrid. I keep looking around for other strings to use but always come back to Sensation.

Great value for a multi filament and comfortable playing string with a nice blend of feel & playability. Known for its vibration dampening qualities, Sensation Control lives up to its long-standing reputation as an arm-friendly string choice.

Product used by my son who is satisfied with it. Good choice for children, low vibration.

This string is very gentle on your elbow and shoulder. You get the similar feeling as natural gut string. The only problem is it gets worn out easily 🙁

I like everything about this string except that it is not very long-lasting if you are a “string breaker. ” But still, for $5 it is a good buy. If you don’t break strings easily, it is an excellent buy.

On top of that, it is a very pretty string! I love the orange version in my orange-trimmed racquet.

I purchased a tennis racket and it came strung with this type string. I had been using synthetic gut and was about to replace these with the synthetic gut, but decided to play with it. It didn’t give as much power but did give more spin with slice shots.

These strings just didn’t wear out. I have been using these strings for 5 years! I was replacing the synthetic gut every other month. So, I even put it in my racquetball racket and it is working great not having to change the strings since putting them in years ago.

Then thought, what about in a weed-eater? That didn’t work. Great for tennis and racquetball rackets. Will last for years!.

Have restrung 2 racquets so far and they have improved the dynamics and power entirely for both. They play far better than OEM and even better than high end racquets. The flex in the string results in an incredible increase in power for all shots.

Control is even better. Strings are like magic. Now, a 3rd racquet in for restringing. Great deal.

Used this string back in the day with full setup. Never let me down. Nice on the arm. Plenty of power with control. Go back to it in a hybrid set up. Putting it the crosses with poly in mains, when arm a bit fatigued with all poly regular setup.

As a certified racquet stringer I have been stringing my own racquets with Gamma Gut Pro 17g for over 20 years. I mainly play on clay courts, rarely break strings and never had any elbow injuries. This synthetic is forgiving, flexible and plays almost like gut.

Been using tnt2 for a few years, back when it was just tnt. Good solid core multi for the price. Nice power, good touch,good control, soft on your arm and decent spin for a multi. Started using it when i had some arm issues.

Good transition string coming out of poly. Solid core gives it a crisp playability, so its not “to” soft or springy like some multis. i get really good durability out of the 16ga. I string one racquet with poly which I play with 75% of the time, and 16ga tnt2 in the my other racquet for when I need a little more zip on the ball.

I bought this to replace my broken strings. It’s affordable and so far has proven to be pretty durable. Gives an extra pop to my groundstrokes.

Ive used the 16 gauge prince synthetic gut original for over 20 years. After playing a few tournaments, and witnessing a lot of heavy top spin I thought I would try new string technology. I tried a few multifilament strings, and didnt like they way it felt when I struck the ball.

I then decided to go back to the prince synthetic gut original, but went with 17 gauge. I think its a great string. It bites the ball, and gives me more power than the 16 gauge ever did. I dont break string often, so it works for me.

At around ‘$’4 per set of string, I can restring often with out worrying about cost.

My all time fav string is Head Rip Control 18g, BUT as a Club Pro who does lots of Sparring Sessions (15hrs this week alone!), and even as a Racquet Technician, it gets expensive. I have to string my racquets once a week.

So. I went on a hunt for something reasonable that I could continue to perform and found the Head Syn Gut PPS 17g from TheLuxuryBoutique1025 at $3. 50 delivered! And I’ve been stacking in an inventory! The string is very lively, but dynamic (as a multifilament should be) and although I don’t have buzz saw style top spin with it, it really whollops a ball flat groundstroke.

These Xi-on sockets are excellent quality, they are knurled so very easy to install and remove from ratchets and breaker bars with greasy hands. They are designed to grip into damaged, rounded, and corroded nuts and bolts and work very well.

Nice string for the money. Used when I string rackets for a mixed crowd of players and have not had one complaint and have been using PPS for about a year. This was a reorder.

Couldn’t even finish stringing this product. It’s almost like it’s coated in oil. Everytime you clamped it off, it just kept slipping in the clamps. You would have literally had to clamp it so tight that it crushed the string i order to get it to not slip.

Ended up tossing it about halfway through the string job. Terrible string.

I was looking for comfort, some power and a durable strings and these fit the bill. I have arm/elbow problems and have played with many types of soft strings. After playing with the Origins, I was able to generate power and found the strings easy on my arm.

I just hope these strings maintain their tension.

This is a stiff string for a non-polyester mono-filament string. It provides excellent tension maintenance over the entire life of the string and does have a long life (depending on your playing style).

Further, it offers better spin than almost every other non-poly string owing to its stiffer nature. If you like the characteristics of a poly without the arm-killing stiffness, this is a string to consider.

However, it is not poly, so it won’t be as dead nor as “spinny” as poly. I’d suggest the 17ga, although if you want stiffer and longer-lived, then the 16ga might work (but it’ll be stiffer).

This is a good quality syngut string with multifibers making it much better in comfort and feel than the plain kirschbaum syngut. Its in my main with proline ll in the crosses making it slick and powerful.

15L usually last 5 to 6 times playing this string broke after one use. Gave another try and lasted 1 and half days of play! Never had any 15L brake as fast as this string.

This synthetic string is very good fit for my hybrid (poly on main and synthetic on cross). it gives me lots of control when needed and it’s arm friendly too.

This string, in my Babolat Aero strung at 56 in the mains and crosses, is probably on of the most enjoyable all around strings that I’ve ever used. and I’ve been playing tennis for 40 plus years. It has great feel.

and nice control. and of all the other string brands and formulations and combinations that I’ve used. I can’t say that I would choose any of them over this three dollar string. I don’t always win, but no one beats me because I didn’t pay 5 or 6 times as much for what the pros are using.

Sure this string isn’t for everyone. but then none of them are. I’m just saying that if your using a 100 square inch frame. try some of this strung at 56 pounds in the mains and crosses. I think you’ll be mildly surprised.

First time trying these Dunlop Syn Gut strings. They didn’t disappoint. Good pop and decent control. No much spin, but didn’t expect any. They haven’t moved around much either. Wish I had gotten the 17 gauge.

16 seems a bit thick.

It has an initial tension drop, so I’d string it 2 lbs. higher next time. It’s great for a racquet that feels harsh, as it’s muted and will round out the feel. The different colors have differing personalities.

The white is my favorite for crispness and accuracy. I’ve also hybrided it in the cross strings with a thin poly main. It made the string bed feel very consistent, as if it weren’t a hybrid at all. I ultimately chose a more average synthetic gut for my crosses.

Using this string for many years. Love it. Stays very consistently playable when strung. Can get away with two racquets strung 3 to 4 times per year unless i am playing more rHan twice a week. Great string and very arm friendly.

As a stringer and player, getting to watch and play with many of those whose racquets I restring, one appreciates how each player’s style and abilities are enhanced when using the right string, gauge, and of course, tension.

This Gamma TNT-2 18 ga. is one of those strings that is exactly what a particular player uses and her game reflects that it’s the perfect choice!.

Pretty stiff string, you really have to either string it in a low lbs or hybrid it with gut or multi. Overall awesome experience with Racketguys.

I had strung a racquet of a 4. 0 player who plays hard, 2-3 times a week, crossing a black Syn-gut of another brand with a red Biomimetic, 16g. 9 months later, the black string on the mains were full of dents where the strings cross, but the Biomimetic was undented! This is a good string, long lasting, for the average player.

I did not reuse the Biomimetic in the players racquet, but I did put it in one of my own. Why not It still had plenty of life in it! I gave my friend a full stringing of new Biomimetic 17g. He loves the extra spin the thinner strings give.

Others love this string as I do, and the ladies like the pink.

Put a full bed of Triax 17 on a Clash 100 (mains 52 lbs, crosses 48 lbs) I hit heavy with extreme topspin and it started fraying right in the middle of the string bed after an hour. Another 2 hours later and the middle main string broke.

But for those three hours it played really well and comfortably. Good control, little power (which I like) and nice feel. Again, only for about 3 hours. So go for a reel if you want to save your arm and you do your own stringing, otherwise prepare for lots of trips to the $tringer.

Reels are obviously more convenient when you need to restring often. Addixion has the blend of pop and control and durability you need (…unless of course you’re a chronic string breaker). But most of us aren’t swinging big enough to justify polyester.

So do yourself a favor—if you’re less than a 4. 5, then go with a string that gives you feel/feedback because you’re only as good as your ability to hit that lob/drop shot\second serve. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you should be a pro.

I switched to this (17, 58lbs) on my AeroPro Drive a bit under two years ago from Pro Hurricane and have not looked back (however, I am now using 17 on crosses, 16 on mains, 56lbs). It took a little bit of getting used to as it was more comfortable to play with, but also more dead.

Since switching, my forehand has taken on a more vertical motion in general for head high (~5’9″-6’0″) bouncing groundstrokes, and to contrast it, I have recently acquired a flat, nearly no spin forehand.

The RPM complements both shots well, aiding particularly in the generation of topspin. In general though, I think the string doesn’t have a huge amount of natural pop on flatter shots. I say natural pop, because you can still generate a LOT of pace on a flat shot, but the string doesn’t lend itself to doing so as much as other strings might.

Its pace comes largely from the generation of spin. I’ve found, however, that it isn’t the most backhand slice friendly string: a shot I used to employ very often. I assume that the increased spin, the ball comes off the strings in a slightly more floaty manner, which can be advantageous, though for me is generally not.

This is also likely due to the fact that my backhand slice involves a very heavy chop, so for those of you with a flatter, more well guided slice, this may well be a non-issue. I typically don’t go out of my way to use drop shots or volleys, so this isn’t a huge problem for me, but because of the relatively dead feel of the string, drop shots are somewhat harder to pull off well (but not at all unachievable), and power on volleys can suffer heavily on occasion.

Ever since this product has come onto the market, I have been using it. My recommendation is for a full set if you are after power and durability. It imparts spin and offers good power with a good feel.

A hybrid with a soft string is also recommended for senior and lady players. In this case it gives good control with added power. String changes would be done annually or six months. A good club player who are not string breakers would benefit from this hybrid set.

If you are able to purchase it with a discount, I would use it.
