20 Best Swing Sets For Toddlers (2023 Updated)

I have several suggestions. 1) A list of what hardware you should have leftover with quantities would be extremely helpful. That way you can compare what you have left over with what you should have leftover and more easily determine where any mistakes may have been made.

2) Building off my previous suggestion, it would also be advantageous to be able to click on the parts in the parts list and have a menu pull up with a clickable list of steps in which that part is used.

3) A quick access ruler to measure hardware that came out of the identifying packaging would be very useful.

I just started putting this together yesterday and at about 3 hours in, I’m almost finished. The kit is great quality, all of my screw holes line up, everything is there, etc. The kit is lighter than expected, like my wife and I can move it around with no issues, but it does come with anchors to anchor it down.

It’s also a little smaller than expected, which is fine, I just didn’t study the measurements like I should have. Overall, its a great kit though, especially if you have a smaller yard.

We purchased this fabulous set for our little grandson and he absolutely loves it. Two swings (we paid extra for a bucket swing seat as well as the ordinary seat), a climbing wall, slide, covered fort on top with mesh sides for safety and complete with a blackboard too.

It was straightforward to erect, with clear and detailed instructions and is very solid. A great outdoor play set he’ll enjoy for years. Thank you.

I spent several weeks researching playsets before getting the Skyfort 2 with wave slide. I don’t know how this set has so many great reviews. The wood is very thin and many of the boards are warped. Some are also cracked.

This made it very difficult to assemble without breaking them. Some pilot holes were in the wrong place and some didn’t have any at all. We have a 40 lb 5 year old and 60 lb 7 year old. If only one of them are swinging or in the fort the whole playset just makes the loudest screeching and wood bending noises I have ever heard.

It sounds like it’s going to come crashing down. I stood under the fort floor and saw the floor boards bending as they walked on them. They are only 100 lbs together so this should not be happening. The slide was bending with their light weight so I had to call customer service and they said they would send a replacement but we aren’t letting them on this set.

It would need lots and lots of reinforcement and not sure if that would even help. When the kids are both on the glider the whole fort would sway even with anchors. This shows the wellness of the thing as a whole.

It took my boyfriend about 50 hours to assemble but we have considered taking it down and sending it back it was so expensive and not worth a tenth of what it cost. I’m so disappointed I could cry. I’d be surprised if this thing lasted 6 months.

I was very impressed with this product. Assembly was very easy and the materials are excellent. No metal to rust. No small parts to lose. very clever system of plastic nuts and bolts! it would be so easy to disassemble if needed to relocate later.

I have this in my living room and my girl loves it.

I think it’s nice, but the instructions are not clear. Letters are small too. A bit pricey and I have not really assembled it. ( till next month)

The most adorable thing ever. My 6 month old granddaughter absolutely loves it. I can secure her in it at watch her swing!! She will be able to use it for a long time. It’s well built and my husband enjoyed putting it together.

Perfect for our granddaughter. Easy to put together. She is 11 months old, the perfect age for the swing. Although she probably will only use it 1 summer.

This model seems to go on major sale as in nearly half the “listed” price often. I thought I got it at a great price but 2 weeks later it was even lower under two bens. The hardware is nicely packaged in sealed compartments.

The whole thing is not the sturdiest but it’s pretty good for use by 3-7 year olds. Not quite high enough for much older in my opinion but others seem to say it can be enjoyed by up to 9 year olds. I think they would be too tall for the swings.

Took me about 6 hours total to put it together. I’m happy with the quality of the wood – especially after reading all the reviews mentioning soft/split pieces. I think exactly one small edge was split and was easy to sand down.

I’m pretty handy but I’m small and had no trouble building this by myself. A socket wrench is an absolute must! Do not try to build it without a socket wrench. It will end in frustration and a trip to Lowes.

And you’ll want the Allen wrench attachment for your impact driver. It comes with the attachment you need for the regular screws. I made some customizations (put the slide off a different side of the hexagon) and had to cut the railings to match.

All in all pretty straight forward. My kiddo LOVES it. We play on it like every day. And the little hammock/trampoline is a great place to read stories or dry off after a swim. Neighbors have already complimented it and asked where to buy their own.

Once finished it looks exactly like the pictures and our kid loves it. We would buy it again but a few negativesthings to consider-The instructions are clear and it is easy enough to put together, but incredibly tedious, not a single bolt or wood was pre-assembled and that made this a very long assembly process.

If you can hire someone to assemble this definitely do that. We did this ourselves and it was a long process. Again, instructions are clear and easy to follow and it is doable but it will take a couple of days.

-A few of the wood plaques did crack, we were really careful not to over drill, but even then they cracked and I am not sure if we could have done anything to prevent it. Luckily the cracked wooden parts were not essential to the structure.

- If an adult even just sits on the swings, the whole structure started twistingturningand creaking. This is definitely only for young kids and the weight limits have to be followed or it will easily break.

I was very excited to get the Ainsley Outdoor Playset but to tell you it is easy to put together is surely an understatement. This set is really hard to put together but, I thought it was great for my grandson.

“This box is only 140 lbs, but 7’ in length, 9. 5” thick, but less than 2’ wide. When you have a swing set crossbeam and upright posts involved, it’s just going to be hard to get around that 7’+ length box.

This is a perfect and safe way to monitor your little ones. Also, it should be known that this is not for larger kids I would say more so for the smaller ones maybe 3-7 years old depending on weight which is maxed at 110 lbs.

I recommend this set to try but be ready for the task at hand putting it together it did not seem like all that was in the compact box but it did weight in at over 140 lbs so you may want to get professionals to install it for you, provided you provided the weather is clear and sunny.

With spring fast approaching, we have been looking for a new outdoor playset for our girls, as their old wooden one has seen better days, and didn’t stand up to the past few winters like we hoped it would.

After asking friends and family for recommendations on the best brand and playset for our growing girls, we kept hearing parents rave about the Ainsley Outdoor playset. We bought this swingset 5 years ago, for my son’s 2nd birthday. We have since had another little one and both of them (now 7 and 4# play on it almost every day. I’m glad I waited so long to write the review, because I can now attest to how well this holds up to the weather, elements and rough play.

It still looks brand new! At the age of 2, it was perfect #not too high or too big, like some of the wooden sets#, yet my boys still play on it now. I would say an 18 month old or so could even use it #especially with the small slide (little room to fall# and a baby swing.

It’s getting a little small for my 7 year old, but he can still easily swing on it and he likes to climb up onto the roof #yes, he’s a daredevil#. We are upgrading to a wooden set now that they are older, but this lasted us 5 years and we just sold this to a friend for $250, so it definitely holds it’s re-sale value too.

We had multiple offers when we finally put it up for sale – everyone wanted it #and here I thought we were asking too much#! :# There is plenty for them to do and my two boys were even able to swing together side by side without disturbing each other too much.

It hoses off easily and the only metal part of the set #the swing bar) doesn’t have a bit of rust on it, even after owning it for 5 years. We live in OH, so get lots of snow, rain AND sun. The quality of this can’t be beat.

Highly recommend as a great starter set. It was fairly easy for my husband to put together #a neighbor helped, simply because one needed to hold parts while the other screwed them in, etc. ). They built this in our driveway, then easily carried it to the backyard.

I also loved it because it looked better in our yard than some of the traditional metal sets. Enjoy!.

This swing set is a very good bargain and looks good in the yard. Our son has fun swinging and climbing onto the steps to the slide. The slide is a bit rough and levels off sharply at the end, so he isn’t able to slide down very smoothly.

But we didn’t get this set for the slide, we got it for the swings. Since our son is 20 months, we also bought the little tikes baby seat with the front seat belts. Be warned though that that baby seat hangs very low on this set.

Our son’s shoes sometimes drag on the ground and his legs are short. So you may be better off buying the step2 baby seat, which hangs much higher. We wound up buying that swing too. My only criticism is that the instructions are bad, with only pictures and no text.

Some of the pictures are confusing or just plain wrong (like the picture that shows the tower the opposite way as it is on the box). Also be careful when tightening some of the bolts as they can easily be over tightened since there is a lot of give in the plastic and metal parts.

My parents gave our 1 & 2 year olds this swing set for their birthdays and I can’t imagine a better gift. I was shocked as how quickly my husband and nephews put it together. I was expecting hours and lots of frustration but instead it took maybe an hour and was really easy.

The only change we made was to swap the swings that come with it out for the toddler bucket type seats since I wasn’t comfortable with them being able to hold on with in the swing just yet. My 2 year old was all over the slide and was able to maneuver on the ropes or ladder just fine.

Since we just put it together I can’t speak to durability or weather resistance but so far we are very pleased. It is a smaller set which works well in our yard and doesn’t overwhelm the entire space.

I’m confident we will get may years of use out of it before my boys outgrow it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when ordering a metal play set but it was relatively straightforward to assemble. There were two steps where I needed a second person. One was getting the roof on top. The other involved two screws in the very center of the tower over and under the floor.

My arms just aren’t that long and I didn’t feel like going inside for tape. The play set is rock solid. There were slight issues with leveling that were easily solved by sliding the slightly higher foot back and forth.

Sometimes you had to dig a tiny bit under it so the dirt loosened by sliding had somewhere to go. I will say the plastic flooring for the tower was a bit confusing. No matter what I did, it would not sit the way it was supposed to.

However, it was near a good stopping point for the day so I just left it until the next day and the problem solved itself. Sitting flat in the sun allowed the two plastic floors to interlock the way they were supposed to easily.

I guess they were slightly warped from travel and needed to flatten out. The top of the slide had a bit of a similar problem with being curved while I was trying to screw it in. A day in the sun fixed that too.

Also, the kids LOVE this thing. We put a sand box under the tower. They are always out climbing all over this thing. So are their friends. P. S. Don’t put the steering wheel on until last. Getting the swing set bar on around that thing is a PITA.

Well, it’s up and it’s in use. My kids 3-9 love and use every part of it (except we are not using the fire pole). The manual was effective, only a few pieces were not stickered with there letter code to indicate we had the correct part for the next step, which we could easily figure out.

There was tons of plastic wrap on everything, but this was important to keeping the coating from scratching off, so necessary. I love that we got this product. My 9 yr old can stand in the center of the tower, however there is lots of ducking to get into the upper and lower zones.

The sturdiness is what we wanted and so far we expect it will be for many years. tbd.

This is a very nice play ground. Some of the part packages were mislabeled and it took some time to figure out or find them. It took a combined 45 hours with my wife and friend to put this playground together.

Next time I will hire an engineer or the Pharaohs who built the pyramids to construct this playground while I sit back and watch. There’s an “extra” screw/bolt and nut bag for when I miss thread the nuts on the bolts and break them.

I ended up breaking 5 bolts and ran out of bolts when it was time to put the fireman’s pole up (or what my wife calls the stripper pole). Overall my kids love it and my wife and I love it.

A little smaller than expected. We have a townhome so a small backyard, just wanted a single swing for my son so it does the job. The chair that came with it was horrible. Ridiculously hard to get him in and out so we took it off and found a different baby chair to attach and now it’s good!.

Has a great frame but the seat is rubbish had to purchase another seat from a retail outlet as this seat folds it has the tendency to flex where the child sits and they slide under hand bar Poor design for seat.

The product is filmsy, expensive. Its very low in quality. Will blow with with. The child drops when you want take him out the swing. Not great seat in terms of seat.

Great product for my 20 month old. She absolutely loves it and very happy we made this purchase. However that assembly instructions are very poor. First off they are in black and white not colored which makes it even harder to see what piece goes where and the screws could have been separated and labeled better.

For what this item costs I think they would have done a better job with providing better written instructions. We had to physically measure them against the instructions each time. Also a lot of the pre-drilled holes were not pre-drilled.

The video on the website was not working so it took longer to assemble more than most. Having a 20 month old we have assembled multiple toys. This was by far one of the most difficult to assemble.

The assembly directions were horrendous and frustrating. Just blurry, black and white photos. No written, descriptive directions. But now that it’s built, my 1 year old grandson loves it! It’s the perfect size for him and allows time for him to grow into to.

I have purchased multiple step 2 products in the past. While each has its quirks when it comes to installation, this swing set is by far the most infuriating of them all. My wife and I took an entire day off of work to put this swing set together.

We nearly accomplished the task in the day, thanks to the vague, mostly illustrated and poorly laid out instructions. The goal eluded us once we got to the final steps, attaching the swing cross bar to the little house/tower.

Due entirely to the vague instructions, a single bracket that was installed at around step 20, visually correct, came back to haunt us at around step 40 or 50. It turns out that this crucial bracket is a little off center.

Going by the picture, there was no way to determine that the bracket was installed slightly off center. It simply looks correctly installed. Because the bracket is off center, the bolt or pin that connects the swing bar to the house/tower will not go in all of the way.

As a result, I cannot properly setup the swing bar. In order to correct this off center bracket, I have to nearly take apart the entire house/tower structure, by back tracking to the step where it was installed.

Fortunately, it was a rainy weekend and my child couldn’t go out and play on the partially constructed set anyway. However, I’m not happy with the installation process and definitely not happy with the provided instructions.

Honestly, I think that it would be an overall good and enjoyable swing set for my child, when it is put together.

Our playset turned out great! Our son loves it. My husband and I put it together ourselves. I’d say it took approximately 12-15 hours total and that was over the span of 3 days. We did spend 8 hours straight on it the first day and got the bulk of the building parts put together.

My husband then finished the details and roof by himself over the next two days after work. The instructions were easy to follow but we did have a little issue starting off. We didn’t realize/notice the many different holes in each piece and didn’t have them all in the right directions at first.

We did end up having to take apart some of the main framing pieces to flip the boards around. It’s super cute, super sturdy, we all try to fit in the upper house part and it’s strong enough to hold us! Lol.

I really enjoyed construction the canyon creek play set for our kids. It was a long process but it’s finally done. Did it myself with some instructional guidance from my wife and it probably took 25 hours over the course of 5 weeks.

Work, life, etc got in the way but the BILT app is so helpful and the steps are not very extensive. Not many tools are truly needed to get this done. I used my power screwdriver/drill the entire time it felt like.

3 swing system is great for young toddlers who struggle with sharing swing time.

My favorite thing about this swingset is that I can pick it up and move it to mow the grass (don’t attach the slide to the frame though, if you’re going to try to do this). That said, you get what you pay for here.

My biggest complaint is that the chains are permanently affixed to the eye bolts on each end. So if you want to change the swing seat (perhaps to install a bucket seat for toddlers), you’re going to have to get out the bolt cutters.

If you want the tops of the chains to be able to be easily adjustable for height, you’ll need to get out the bolt cutters again, and also get some S hooks or threaded links or something. They ignored some pretty fundamental swingset needs here.

I suppose for liability reasons or something. Also the hanging bar has no height adjustability at all, and comes at a pretty high default height. Two of the tube sockets had dents I had to hammer out to allow the tubes to fit in.

Which was simple but annoying. And a few of the plastic washer-caps cracked for me too. I don’t anticipate those caps lasting a long time. The idea of these caps is ok, but the execution not great. All they had to do was add some small metal spacers.

But you could just replace them with washers. If you’re going to swing the kids much beyond the angle of the legs, you’ll need extra weight to keep the swingset legs from coming up off the ground. I hung about 50 lbs of weight on each of the horizontal ‘A’ bars, and that seemed to calm it down for our 33 lb toddler, who likes to swing much higher than the angle of the legs.

Overall it’s decent enough for the price. But be prepared to do some cutting if you want anything other than the seats they come with, or to be able to raise and lower them easily.

Perfect for age stated in description. Easy to put together. Cons are blue cover caps don’t fit on all screws as the screws are to long. Also, the caps break easy. With kids different heights, it would be nice if I was able to adjust the links so I could raise the swings.

Overall, nice swing set.

Great swing set for the price offered. With 3 different things to play with ( the swings, the slide, and the trapeze bar), it kept my son busy throughout the summer months. In general, the swing set was easy to build, as the directions were easy to follow, and the set included most of the equipment needed.

Definitely a great starter set.

Swing can be assembled separately and its perfect for 12 to 18 months old, slide can be connected later, for 18 and +.Perfect for indoor – outdoor.

I purchased the Little Tikes Hide and Seek Climber & swing just over a week ago for my 1 year old granddaughter. It arrived today, I’m pleased to say all the parts were there, it was easy to put together & is very sturdy.

My granddaughter absolutely loves it, her face lit up when she saw it & has had a great time playing on it with a little help from her Mum & Dad. Thank you Target for suppling a truly wonderful product, it is just PERFECT.

I have a 4 year old and a 16 month old. This playset is wonderful for them. I would not say that they have hours of fun on it, but they do have a lot of fun on it. I see so many negative reviews on this product.

My opinion is in the contrary. If anyone was to hear your suggestions on how to fix a negative reviews, here are my suggestions. Follow all the instructions on how to properly set it up and take your time.

Make sure all the bolts are tightened before use or you may have a horror riffic accident. Never leave your children unattended. They can fall off of the perch after climbing the rocks to get to the slide.

The swing does move a little bit, but use common sense on how to stop it from moving. Put grippers underneath Each corner or under the desired areas to secure the bottom. Use a really long yoga mat underneath the playset.

It will slip on carpet and it will slip on hard floor unless you use non-skid non-slip protectors under each corner or wherever you wish to place them or a really long yoga mat to keep it in place. The swing is not as low as everyone says it is.

My four-year-old is in the 30th percentile height and he can still swing on it. No matter what anyone says this is a wonderful play set and I would highly recommend it 5 stars all across, but if the safety rules are not going to be followed or common sense is not going to be used I do not recommend this playset.

Pro: -This playset looks exactly as pictured -it is size appropriate for toddlers -toddler loves being allowed to finally climb up on something -toddler can get in swing by their selves Cons: -it is held together by a few bolts but mostly large plastic screws.

Not sure how durable and safe big plastic screws are for something our child is climbing all over. Trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. -The slide just pops in place. -It is not a heavy set so the slightest wind will blow it away and it has no anchors.

This was obviously designed to be used indoors. -It has a tunnel under the slide which would be fun for the little one but it wasn’t well planned since the swing blocks the other opening. -the swing is made so toddler can get in and out which is great but not good when they want pushed in the swing bc they don’t know/want to at that age to keep their feet up.

Let’s start with some key topics: I LOVE this item! READ instructions thoroughly. Take your time. “Chalkboard” is odd. Very sturdy. Nice small sized for a smaller yard. I’m 32, did this with myself and my father, took roughly 5 hours.

Small opening at the rock wall to get to the slide. (My son is 4, watching him is what I’m basing this on. To start, my overall impression is I truly do love this item. Sure there is a few things I wish were different, but nothing other than minor stuff that truly isn’t a big deal overall since I can fix both issues myself.

Referring to the things I listed in cons: no bars for a kid to hold on to once at the top of stairs/rock wall. You would think handles of some sort would come with it for their final pull up. But not the hugest deal, and I’m planning to add myself.

Also, the chalkboard. it just an odd thick plastic type piece. My biggest issue about it is there is no support behind it. Who’s to say a kid might not be too wild and push up against it, it snap, and they fall through.

Maybe I’m not giving the material enough credit, I’m not sure. But I added a backing to it myself in case. Added that also gave it a hard surface to be able to push against to write on the chalkboard.

) Don’t let these two issues take away from my love for this product though! I wanted to stay transparent so others aren’t shocked once they notice these things also, but they aren’t make or break issues in my opinion.

Very easily fixable and for cheap as well. This product is truly very sturdy/heavy feeling once put together to me. Honestly I was a bit skeptical taking the pieces from the box, and even while putting it together until the end.

A few pieces pre drilled holes weren’t perfect, but what can you expect. It still worked out nicely regardless and I sit on the swing no problem with my son. (I’m 5’2 130lbs) I don’t actually swing, but I glide back and forth slightly and I feel absolutely secure and safe doing so.

One thing I will mention, don’t be like me. play close attention to the instructions! I’m such a picture instruction person in the sense I view the photo and tunnel vision on that. There were some pages that had print on them of certain stuff like “notice the hole placement” “one side facing out other side facing in” type of things that I ended up noticing steps later and had to go back and waste time correcting stuff.

This was 100% my personal error. So be sure to look over all the small print writing/tips/instructions and don’t be like me! If you want a smaller play structure for whatever reason. I’d absolutely get this! My son is 4.

I can see it lasting him truly only a couple years. But that’s expected as it states the age range it is for. I wanted a smaller one due to where I wanted to place it and honestly I am very pleased/happy with this item.
