20 Best Swimming Vest For Toddlers (2023 Updated)

Bought this 22 years ago for my granddaughter, they “were” so well made. The inner-tube was the same grade as a tire tube. It was a well made swimsuit with a heavy grade tire tube, and the suit was made to last.

Fast forward 22 years, bought this for my Great granddaughter. Total garbage, cheap plastic tube, cheap material on the “suit”. And the strap that goes between the legs. Not comfortable for your toddler.

My great granddaughter hates it. 20 years ago, my granddaughter lived in hers all summer long. Why would you cheapen this. We’re talking a child’s safety. This is garbage.

I used a similar vest for our son when he was little and he is now 31. His daughter and son now have these and I love them. One did get a leak though and deflated after using it a year. The quality is good, The blow up ring could be a little stronger made to make it very good.

I remember my sons being firm. But I would recommend this product. They are packed in the suitcase to take our grandchildren to the cottage.

I would say this is an “ok” product. It’s kind of short, I do wish it were longer. The tube is basic float material, kind of cheap. I have to hold the front of it up as my son plays because his face still hits the water.

They can easily fall through even with the strap, so it’s not the safest, but if I’m holding him, it’s helpful. Still in search of a safe, good quality swim vest! (My son is 1 1/2, but big & tall).

I absolutely loved this vest I used it this year for our trip to the beach for my 2 year old that doesn’t know how to swim. I was amazed by Flex Form Deluxe Swim Vest how it was able to hold my toddler up by herself in the ocean and the pool.

You still should always be in arms length of your child but this did so great I did not have to hold her the entire time we were swimming. The design of this vest isn’t bulky it very sleek and comfortable almost like a bathing suit.

I loved how it has a zipper to make sure she stays secure in the vest and a strap with a skin guard to go in between her legs for extra support. My daughter was able to jump in the pool with this on and it would float her right back up.

It keeps your child very balanced and has a extra foam piece that goes infront of the neck for extra support as well. I really am impressed with this vest I will be buying one for my 6 year old as well.

Living in Florida, water activities are a must! We go to a lot of water parks and visit the pool weekly. My main concern was teaching my youngest to swim and for her to be comfortable in the water. My oldest used to have a swim vest so I definitely needed one for my youngest.

This vest is adorable. It feels lightweight and very durable. The colors are eye catching and my daughter loves the design on the vest. Adjusting the strap is very easy as well. I can simply make it as tight or loose as it needs to be.

It’s also very easy to put on and off. With a wiggly toddler, that’s a great bonus. My daughter is able to float nicely in this vest and is starting to get comfortable with it in the water. I love how happy she is and think it’s great having this bit of protection in the water.

I definitely recommend.

We just come back from a in door water park and hotel so this was perfect for our on the smaller size 6 yr old. We haven’t had a chance to get him swimming lessons so this definitely put our minds at ease.

He’s able to zip this up and just take off in the water. It held him up in water very well and we never worried about it not holding him up. He says its very comfortable and definitely better than the brand we used before.

It’s very durable and will not rip or break easily. It will definitely hold the child up very well and keep them above water so they can feel a little more independence while in the water.

We got this for my 10 month old niece to use when on the boat. This is a full life jacket that fits infants up to 30 pounds. The design is very unisex with the orange, turquoise, purple and white colors.

The fish become colorful when wet and are almost white when dry, but you can see the design still when dry. The design is only on the front. The back and inside are orange. This has a floating headrest which is a necessity for safety at this age, but does make it slightly uncomfortable for the baby.

My niece adjusted to the feel of wearing this pretty quickly and seemed content with it after the initial shock of restriction wore off. The headrest has a handle to grab if they do fall into the water and is supposed to encourage face up floating.

Luckily, we didn’t have to test that feature! This has a zipper up front and an adjustable belt with a piece that goes between their legs. For safety features, this seems to have it all covered. There is no way a baby is getting out of this themself.

I appreciated the information on the tags to help the consumer use this safely. This seems well made and we look forward to getting lots of use out of it this summer.

This is so nice and easy for toddlers to wear by or in the pool. It was simple to put on. The straps are easily adjustable and snaps in securely. There is even a strap on the bottom that connects the front and back for extra security.

Safety around the pool and in the pool is so important. This life jacket ease the worries I have with my little one while enjoying fun pool time. And the design is super cute on it. My kiddo loves it! It even will change when it gets wet! She loves wearing it.

This product is nothing short of amazing, first off my daughter is 20 months old and around 28-30 lbs. It fits her so well and is tight enough around her little body. She is secure in the life jacket, it does NOT slip all around or off.

The raised chest piece helps keep her head and body in an upright position. As well as the arm pieces. This is made out of a foam like layers so you do not have to worry about it popping like traditional “arm floats” which I do NOT recommend for younger kids what so ever.

Not going to lie, initially I purchased this vest under the impression that it wouldn’t probably be as good with floating and keeping children above the water like we see happen with the popular floaties that have the arms for smaller children.

I mainly only bought this for a peace of mind while my daughter was still learning how to swim and mainly wanted something to help support her in case she got a little tired from moving her arms and such since for so long she floated more than having to work to stay afloat.

Turns out- my oldest daughter that I intended to use this vest with ended up not even using it because she caught onto swimming QUICK. So I decided to use it with our 6 year old little girl and we have found that we like it WAY MORE than anything we’ve ever used since having to use floaties.

It puts the vest with arms to shame, and in my opinion, it works out even better than the other style does because they’re made for older children whereas the other style isn’t, and because of not having the built in arm floaties like I was convinced was needed to stay afloat the way that they do, has ended up being the solution to ALL of the problems we’ve ran into so many times along the years.

1- NO MORE CHAFFED ARM PITS. I KNOW. It’s a Christmas miracle right?! Lol. 2. Because of the vests being made without the shoulder area attached for the arms, our child has been able to move around so much more easily and freely which has in return helped her stay move above water than the other style.

It’s not weirdly fitted causing her chin to get rubbed/chaffed. It’s literally the best option for children who are seemingly too big for their toddler vests and end up getting a terrible rash from being too tight on their arms, to being actually geared for their specific weight vs knowing that the vest you were using wasn’t intended to be used for their weight unfortunately bc you couldn’t find anything else to switch into before discovering this vest! She feels like she’s bigger/older and one of the bigger kids bc it doesn’t look super baby/toddler like and looks like something meant to be worn by big kids all while actually being able to move around freely without the constant annoyance from the sleeves getting in a bind every time you turn around.

Hope this helps for those of you who are curious about trying this vest out but unsure with how good the quality of actually floating them above water will end up being. It’s great!!! Just have some faith and take the leap.

You can thank me later while resting assured with the fact that I am someone who loves these so much that I’m buying a 2nd one just so my daughter can take it to keep at her moms house and not have to worry with the hassle of needing to remember to bring it back and forth.

Our 4 year old was really comfortable wearing this in the pool. It’s very light weight. He did wear a rash guard shirt under it to prevent chaffing under his arms.

It helps my daughter feel confident in the water and puts her on the path to swimming independently. She can easily move her arms – something puddle jumpers (type of decide most toddler use at or pool) don’t allow.

Dries quickly and never smells moldy. We love it.

I purchased this for my 7 year old daughter who weighs 75lbs. She is a bit rounder in the mid-section but it didn’t come close to closing. Out of curiosity, I had my 8 year old son try it on. He’s very slim and weighs 70lbs.

It zipped, but just barely. He said it was very tight and he wasn’t able to sit in it comfortably. I think I would recommend the size of this one for 50-70lbs max and maybe more for ages 5-8. Also to note, the zipper was very hard to zip.

Cute and it seems like it would hold up well but does not work for my 54 pound 7 year old. We tried it for the first time yesterday and by the time we were done for the day her entire chin is raw from it riding up and rubbing.

Now I have a life jacket that I’m guessing I can’t return because it’s been used. Maybe next summer she’ll fit better but we have a beach trip coming up in less than 2 weeks so I now have to find a replacement for this.

Super bummed!.

I tried a different brand too, but the other one bunched up at the neck and she couldn’t even move her head at all. She was instantly crying in it, there was no comfort. I received this and I couldn’t believe how soft it was!! I tried it on and not a peep! She loved it! She just looked comfortable and ready to ride.

My daughter is 32lbs, 37in tall. on the tightest adjustment this life vest fits a little loose, but not enough to make me nervous. Her range of movement in the vest is good, she is able to move her arms to swim.

She is very confident even in deep water. The design is cute. I can’t stand printed character designs, which all brands of puddle jumpers seem to have, I find them obnoxious (why not just a solid color?) but this one is cute and she loves it!.

It took a couple of times going to the pool before my daughter felt comfortable with her floatie. I bought a different brand floatie before I bought this one that was not safe at all so she had a bad experience and this one did not let us down.

It’s been great! I definitely keep an eye on her at all times even though she likes being on her own now. Plus my daughter loves Minnie Mouse so she loves it and wants to go swimming every day.

Love this life vest. Would not recommend this unless you are holding baby as it is not as safe as others. So cute and not so bulky as the others. This ones perfect for when Im holding my 11 month old so shes not so constricted as her other ones.

Just wish it had a crotch strap.

Bought it for my little one and she ended up going forward- the vest put her onto her stomach and she was not a happy camper. Maybe better for an older child. It is sturdy and nice but again not for as young as it says.

My son looooooooves this life jacket !! It’s super easy to put on and the quality is definitely there! I do not regret buying it for him !! He puts it on and is able to float like if he already knew how to do it on his own! It is mind blowing! We always stand by within arms length, just in case, but he feels so independent with this jacket on.

Easy to use, works well. Like the upper strap for a grasp handle. I intentionally wanted a USCG approved orange life vest because orange is one of the most visible colors in various water settings. This is great.

My 2 year old HATES wearing life jackets. All of the ones he has worn float up on him and rub his chin and neck, regardless of how tight the bottom strap is. I was drawn to this life jacket because of the bright colors and dinosaur print (he loves dinosaurs).

I also liked the price. The first time he wore it, we spent the day on a pontoon boat on a lake. He was irritated when I first put it on him, but he soon forgot it was even on. It fits very well and is not bulky.

It is also coast guard approved.

I purchase 2 of these (the shark and the crab-super adorable) for my grandson that just turned 2 on 6/30/19. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it stated that it was for children 30-50 pounds and he is 29 pounds.

I’ve purchased other floating devices such as the zippered vests with the chin cushion and they were cumbersome and he just kept flipping over. The Stearns puddle jumper worked perfectly from the second he put it on.

Immediately he was jumping into the pool even in the deep end and swimming totally by himself. My daughter was thrilled that she now doesn’t have to hold him anymore and doesn’t have to worry about him falling into the pool.

I usually don’t write reviews but today I actually went out of my way to get to this page and share because I know how frustrated I was trying to find a perfect flotation device. It’s made very well and it’s soft and cushiony (other similar looking floaties I’ve seen are made of have cheap plastic with rough edges) I’m also happy that I purchased the extra one to keep on hand.

My grandson did not want to take it off when it was time to go inside.

We bought this as a “life jacket” for swimming at the beach. Fortunately I was paying attention when my 4 year old who weighs 30-40 lbs stepped into a deep spot, the swimmy floated while the water was up over my sons nose he was trapped and panicking without being able to make a sound.

Swimmys need to have a crotch strap so kids don’t slide down. I was terrified and angry at the same time. DONT TRUST SWIMMYS.

I bought this for my 3 year-old grandson, and it’s very small. It squeezes his little arms, and the belt had to be fully extended. He weighs about 38 lbs, and it’s supposed to fit up to 50 lbs. Otherwise, it would be fine.

The quality feels great, and it definitely works.

Loved this for my 18 month old on our recent holiday, gave me confidence he was safe in the water. I was torn between this and armbands but so glad we bought this. Easy to get on and off. Supported him in the water, he was able to support himself and tread water.

Just as everyone should know as I didn’t quite understand, they sell these as 1000watt an many other options. I knew led’s were different, and I knew companies marked them up for power ratings, 100 leds at 10w a piece nice, so thinking they never run at full power, guessing around 500w.

Was a wrong thought. Turns out at most these are 150w. so finding out 2 months later, hundreds of my leaves were super tiny,”quarter sized” and 12″-12″ bushes, at 25-32″ away, lately this past month, I’ve kept up on it at 10″ away every few days and their all growing great! Just about doubled in size, still veg’ing these a little bit bigger “almost 120days now from seed” , and deffenitely recommend more than one light for flowering.

I bought 2 of these for my kids to help give them confidence in the sea. Both worked great and have brought on my kids swimming. I think only thing I would have bought the 20kg size one for my older daughter rather than the 25kg, as she could have coped with less botany and would have encouraged her to swim more.

Purchased this for our 2-year-old granddaughter to use in the pool. It kept her afloat without her losing her balance. After an hour of having this, she would jump right into the deep end and would come right up and float.

The only issue was have is that the part that goes around her chest rubbed two spots on either side of her underarms. Our 5-year-old granddaughter has the same one and it rubs spots on her arms after about an hour.

Otherwise, it’s a great product.

I bought the Stearns Kids’ Basic Puddle Jumper Swim Vest for my 2 1/2 yr old great granddaughter to take on vacation and to wear in our pool. It was Coast Guard approved(what I insisted on before purchasing this product or similar one).

The vest works wonderful, it keeps her head and her arms above water yet gives her the independence she insist on while swimming. I am planning on getting another to keep her just in case hers is left behind.

Which I hope her parents will never do.

The jacket has adjustable buckle which is really great to allow parents to adjust it to their child wearing around the body for not being tight and being loose and it hold my child`s body securely. My child loves the bright colors and design and the product seems made in a good quality of material.

The paddles fit perfectly and help my child to float and able to swim longer distance back and forth. The life jacket is very light weight and very comfortable to wear as I see my child swimming confidently and not being afraid in the water by all herself.

I bought my 3 year old son this in a different color in store, it was the last one. Came home and when he was about to go into the pool the arm wings one was reaching down to his wrist. It was uneven, maybe some kid tried it on in the store and stretched it out without unbuckling it to take it of.

Obviously I threw out the barcode and I was uncomfortable with him going to the pool with it. I took it back to Walmart with the receipt, no barcode and they never replaced it! Not even a refund. I call cooperate that was no help.

My local Walmart gave me such a hard time. I called puddle jumper no answer, I emailed up to now 6 months I never got a response. For the safety of my child I had to purchase another one and suck with the defective puddle jumper 13 dollars wasted.

The wife loves to tube. She usually wore an old zip up Ski vest. The foam apparently broke down as the last time out she came off the tube and the best did not offer much buoyancy as it absorbed water.

The wife a few beers in was terrified. This vest is constructed differently and will not take on water. Happy wife happy life.

My children had these vests growing up. My 7 grandchildren now wear them. They last and we just pass them down as they out grow them. My last grandchild just went into an adult small. Great bright color so you can spot them.

They come in blue and yellow.

I bought 2 of these for my wife and I to wear while paddle boarding. I chose these because they are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, dont absorb water and get cold as nylon vests do, and are brightly colored for good visibility to see one another and other boaters.

Made in the USA and feel like they will last a long time. We feel very safe wearing them.

Our at the time 3 year old got great wear out of this vest. Both our kids wore different ones for a bit but we decided as much as they are around water we wanted ones that have the float pad behind their head so they cannot roll on their face and/or go under.

This is perhaps fine but the peace of mind was better since we have our own pool.

It was light and colorful sold it was easier to handle
