20 Best Swaddle For Arms Out (2023 Updated)

Velcro swaddles are the way to go. The ease of use is essential when you’re getting your little one all snug. What we have found with swaddles is that a tight swaddle is necessary for it to be effective with our kids.

We have longer babies but I wouldn’t say “skinny. ” With most swaddles, the velcro isn’t aligned well for it to be tightly snug. This swaddle seemed to be the exception to that. We loved that it seemed to fit our baby SO WELL with room to grow.

Additionally, the fact you can use this with arms out is a huge benefit when purchasing this size. Typically, between 3-6 months, your baby starts rolling over. To spend money on a swaddle that cannot transition the arms out is a real bummer.

Also, the zipper allows for easy diaper changes without needing to re-swaddle, though we didn’t really find it necessary to utilize that feature too much because when she was up, she was up (so the tight swaddle didn’t need to sustain during the diaper change).

Overall: 5 stars. Functional, easy, comfortable and necessary for your baby to sleep more than an hour at a time.

We liked the swaddle at first, but after only a week of use will be throwing it away. Not only did the swaddle fabric stretch out so it wasn’t securing my baby’s arms anymore, the zipper cover at the top utterly failed to protect her chin when she was scrunching to try and suck her hands.

There is a little piece of metal at the top of the zipper that’s extremely sharp! the zipper pull doesn’t come up high enough to cover it, and the zipper itself could have been stopped even half a centimeter lower so the top wasn’t inherently spread , or the cover could have been a stiffer fabric so it would fold back on itself so easily.

Regardless, it scratched her poor little chin 4-5 times. Do not recommend.

My baby is 4 month old and uses swaddles. He went from traditional overall, to arms up and because he’s 4month old I want him to have his arms free when sleeping. It’s hard to find the right swaddle for him because he would keep waking up every hour at night.

This swaddle is a game changer, I thought he’s gonna have a hard time at night because his last swaddle is the arms up. On the first night, he kind of wiggling a lot because his arms are free. But the following nights he sleeping great and got used to arms not being wrapped.

I guess it comforts him because of the wrap that goes around his chest. This arms free convertible swaddle is good for transitioning the baby, There’s few ways to wear it, with arms in, one arm out and both arms out.

It’s 100% cotton, two-way zipper that makes it easy for nighttime diaper changes. The only thing I didn’t like about is that the wings are a little longer from chest to abdomen, it’s a bit tricky to change diaper.

I have to unwrap the wings otherwise I will not be able to put the diaper on. But overall it’s a great quality.

Swaddle blankets didn’t work because my baby kicked out of them easily. The Halo Swaddle Sack was dangerous because she could wriggle into it and lift the wings onto her face. This is a great swaddling option to help baby fall asleep faster and sleep longer.

I love the safety of the double strap mechanism, which prevents the fabric from migrating towards the face. It also allows baby to sleep in any clothes or your choice without the extra insulation of traditional swaddles.

I only wish that they made an intermediate size. She outgrew the small size by 3 months and the larger size seems just a bit too bulky for her small body. Otherwise, no complaints. I also wish these were sold in stores so I could pick them up for baby showers rather than having to order them online.

This is the best concept! I was concerned about my lo getting hot because we don’t have air conditioning. Also, I have 4 different types of swaddles from my first child, and my newbie was getting his arms out of all of them.

This one solved both problems! I noticed the reviews about the Velcro and I’m really hoping mine will stick it out.

When I found out there was a product like this out there I was quick to buy it. My 5 month old has only slept when swaddled since birth. Now she’s at the size and age where she breaks out of the swaddle blankets and wakes herself up.

This swaddle strap is very easy to use and my daughter doesn’t break out of it, which is great. The only small negative is that if you have to rock your baby frequently, it rises up her torso. It also seems that it can be a little uncomfortable for her, especially if I’m holding her.

Overall I feel it’s a great buy. It’s also good for those that can’t get the swaddling thing right, like my husband.

A lot of baby items are hopeful attempts at securing baby while addressing things such as startle response and fussiness. My 1 month old didn’t care for it though she seems to prefer a hands up sleeping position.

It’s very well constructed. The Jersey fabric is soft and considerably thinner than the fleece swaddle she is used to. I noticed a definite difference between the “securing” aspect of this swaddle and our fleece – normal wrap – version.

This doesn’t secure baby as much and as a result allows for excess movement that my baby struggles with while trying to get to sleep and staying that way. This is not to say that this swaddle won’t be appropriate for a later stage in my baby’s development.

She current is 21. 5 inches and 9. 7lbs. Maybe an increase in size and weight will allow baby to fit more properly into this swaddle. I do plan on using it later on down the line, but as for now it just doesn’t work.

It may work for your baby though.

So, let me start off by saying that I cannot necessarily say that my daughter sleeps better in this sleep sack than she does in her Halo sleep sacks. My wife thinks that she does not, but that’s not why this product has received a 5 Star review.

I LOVE this sleep sack because, straight up, it is THE funniest thing in the world to see my infant daughter with stubby little arms, looking like a plump Gumby trying to climb up my chest while crying uncontrollably.

I don’t know what it is about when she cries with that thing on, but I literally switch over from being a concerned parent to a man that is desperately trying not to pee his pants from laughing at his daughter.

If Loves to Dream ever creates one that is designed to look like a cactus (Uses green fabric, maybe adds little white stitching to look like needles, and maybe even add a clay pot color from knees down) I would, unapologetically pay 3-4 times more.

I swear I’m not a bad father. These things are just hilarious.

My daughter just turned a month old, and is too strong for her swaddle blankets now (breaking free). Her startle reflex is terrible. She takes forever to fall asleep, and wakes herself constantly when not tightly swaddled.

Her swaddle blankets did a great job containing her reflex, she got peaceful sleep. she’s just too strong to wear them now & I do not want her breaking free for safety reasons. I wanted to get her a safe swaddle that she couldn’t break free from.

She does like to self soothe with her hands by her face, so I thought I’d give this swaddle a try. After a week of miserable sleep, I’m returning this product. I tried to give it time, but it’s not for us.

While it keeps her safe, it does not contain her startle reflex at ALL. It takes forever to get her to sleep, and she wakes up a TON while wearing this swaddle. She does not sleep peacefully. Unfortunately I will be returning this and try to find a different swaddle that will help with her startle reflex better.

Absolutely love this swaddle. We love to call this his stray jacket LOL since it high key looks like one! Anyways we tried the ‘Love to dream’ swaddle and sadly it didn’t work out for my baby although he does like to sleep with his arms up, swaddling is just the way to go.

You just have to find the right one. It’s all trial and error! But this really worked for us. I love that there’s 3 size adjustments. It’s perfect since he likes to stretch out his legs and during the night he likes to stretch his legs up to fart and hey man less gass makes a happy baby!! Diaper changes are pretty easy for the most part.

I just leave the zipper on and Velcro part strapped and and unbutton the leg latches and lift up his legs out the sack and he stays asleep. For those who wanna know the cons: •Of course Velcro makes noise, but if you slowly try to undo it while making baby shushing noise you’ll be fine •The buttons, kinda annoying when you have to lift some of the fabric to clasp them (Obv you can’t push down on them cause then you’ll be pushing down on baby’s stomach and that’s no bueno) •Doesn’t come in brown/nude colors BUT whooo cares get the rust one.

Bought these swaddles to help my baby sleep & it did the complete opposite. He was able to pull his arms out of the swaddles and the swaddle would slide around and end up bunching around his next. How is that even close to safe?! No matter how tightly we swaddled him he was still able to get his arms out and all the fabric would bunch around his neck.

Due to his safety we decided to try having him sleep with his arms out and he wasn’t a fan of that. So naturally if a product doesn’t work you should be able to return it. For some reason the pack I bought was “not eligible for returns.

” That definitely didn’t help the situation. Customer service did NOTHING go offer any help with this product. Now these “amazing” swaddles sit in the drawer unusable. I wouldn’t dare sell these to someone else in fear it would cause safety concerns for their baby.

Save your money and purchase your swaddle elsewhere.

I have the SnuggleMe, Halo and Love to Dream swaddles. At the time I purchased the Embe, I thought I preferred the baby’s arms being pinned down as the “correct” way to swaddle, so I was looking for something that didn’t creep up and cover the baby’s mouth.

Unfortunately the Embe still manages to creep up over my son’s mouth, even though the fabric is sewn down lower below the shoulders. I ended up by buying a few Love to Dream swaddles because there isn’t any extra fabric to creep up, it has a two way zipper for easy diaper changes, and after trying all of these swaddles and having both of my sons manage to get their little hands out the top, I’ve realized babies like to have their arms up and their hands near their face.

I don’t think the Love to Dream swaddles are organic or anything, but they are the easiest to use and most comfortable for my baby.

My daughter has been Breaking through her swaddles because she does not like her arm swaddled down anymore. Thought we would give this a try. Unfortunately, my daughter still has her startle reflex and nothing other than swaddling dampens it’s.

So, we tried one Arm in, out, you name it. This swaddle is nice and worth it, just not what our daughter needed. Lots of ways to transition them out of swaddling If your babies ready and can tolerate arms out.

I really love this swaddle! I’m sad I didn’t find it when my baby was born because she used to love to be swaddle. Currently, she is 3mo and she doesn’t like to be swaddle anymore but she still suffers from Moro reflex.

This transition swaddle is great for that because it allows to have her arms out but be snugged enough in her chest and belly, plus, she stays warm in it. I’m amazed with it because she doesn’t have that reflex anymore so she is sleeping better thru the night! The swaddle is light weight and versatile because it allows you to use it in many ways.

It’s somewhat warm but not enough for winter. That’s one of the downsides, transition swaddle doesn’t come with long sleeves. Overall, it’s a great swaddle!.

Our son loved the Omni Swaddle Sack. We got so much great usage out of this product because of all of the different arm positions you can do. Wrapping kept him snug as a swaddle and as we got closer to transitioning away from swaddling, even using the wrap below his arms and around his belly got him used to less suppression, while still providing the comfort he was used to.

Highly recommend. (Also, when we first got it, our son was a little too small for it– if this happens to you make sure you try it again when your baby grows a little more, because once it fit him, it was perfect and we used it constantly.

My wife and I received this swaddle as a gift, and while we have a number of blankets, swaddles, and other comfort/sleep items that our newborn uses, the versatility of this makes it our favorite. The optional arm wrap works wonders when we’re getting her to fall asleep, and the mittens keep her from scratching herself with her tiny dagger nails.

It’s soft, easy to wash when it gets dirty, and large enough that she’ll be able to use it for quite a while longer. I wish I’d known about it before we bought the other swaddle blankets; I’d have just bought a bunch of these instead.

My baby is not even 10 weeks old yet and these were too small for her. They are not nearly long enough. The velcro on the swaddle part doesn’t attach properly either. These are just poorly designed and not big enough for 3-6 months.

You are better off getting the halo swaddle sleep sack.

I absolutely love these wraps. I have the 0-3 months and use them every night. It took about a week for my daughter to get use to them, but at a month old she will sleep for 6 to 8 hours at night- every night- and she loves them.

They help her relax. I am now looking for a bigger size because she is about to out grow these. Absolutely worth the money!.

These are so effective! Baby sleeps longer than when I use blankets, because the blanket DOES eventually get unswaddled. This swaddler does not get unswaddled! The velcro is perfect and has lasted through washings.

My 3. 5 month old baby sleeps better in this sleep sack than anything else. I couldn’t wait for swaddling to be done because he’s a strong baby who fights like the dickens to break free. He will fight this sleep sack but is quicker to fall asleep either on his own or being rocked.

We love that it’s thicker as we live in upstate NY in an older home and it’s winter right now…I also love the arm snaps that will allow us to transition him to a regular sleep sack with the straight jacket…I mean cocoon option.

The only thing I don’t love is the surging on the inner zipper protection part is uneven and the zipper has gotten stuck in 2 different places several times. It has come undone after backing the zipper up a few times, but that is sometimes an exercise in patience when I’ve got a crying wiggling baby waking up who wants to be fed.

Because of the zipper problems I’m knocking off a star.

I purchased two of these pouches. One of the pouches is good quality, warm and worked out quite well. The other pouch has a zipper malfunction and it snags almost every time I attempt to use it. This may not seem particularly concerning, but it definitely causes quite a grievance when attempting to change a crying infant in the middle of the night.

Not sure what is more frustrating; fighting with a zipper at 3am while an infant scream-cries in my face or dealing with customer service who’s priority is not customer satisfaction or support. If you order a product without malfunction, you should be good to go, but on the chance that what you get is defective, don’t expect that you’ll get any support.

This came at the perfect timing! My 4 month old son has never slept better! I bought one of the expensive, well known swaddle for him but he didn’t like it as it was too tight around the waist but this sleeping bag, he loves it! It’s so soft and cozy.

Before, he would take around 15 mins to fall asleep but I swear with this, he falls asleep in 5 mins, almost immediately sometimes. He’s sleeping longer in this than he would before with his arms up.

He started rolling from back to tummy and I love how easy it is to transition his arms out, one at a time, with the convenient poppers. Overall, best decision I’ve made. He’s sleeping more = we’re sleeping more! So thankful! I’m buying a second one so I can alternate washing.

Colour not really pink, they are a really dirty looking pink and quality ok. Not my favorite swaddle.

I like these swaddles as a transition out of a swaddle. My daughter began rolling over at 3 months but would only sleep swaddled. This product allowed my the ease of transitioning her out of the swaddle by having one arm out.

It is soft, breathable and comfortable fabric. It is also good for the middle of the night feedings because you can burp your child without taking the swaddle off. The Velcro is also quiet which is nice during middle of the night feedings so that your little one doesn’t wake up! I would recommend this for babies who need the transition time out of a swaddle.

I received this product and wish I had it sooner! My little one loves to be swaddled but would often remove his arms out of swaddle blankets within a few minutes. With the Swaddle me Arms Free, I love how it gives you the option to have one arm out (which I use for my little one often, because he likes to sleep with one arm close to his face), both arms out or no arms out.

I also love how this came in a large size perfect for babies between 14-18 lbs or 3-6months. The other thing that I absolutely love about this product is the zipper two way function. This is genius for those late night diaper changes.

This product is a lifesaver especially at night time.

I received this item about a month ago and it was super helpful in transitioning my baby boy from swaddling! I started transitioning him at 4. 5 months so it was right about the time he was interested in sucking on his hands.

The openings on the sides allowed him to have one arm out so he could suck on his hand and comfort himself to sleep but also keep his other arm swaddled in so he wouldn’t startle himself. Now he’s completely transitioned out of the swaddle and it was a stress free process thanks to swaddle me! Bonus points: the space prints were super adorable.

Woof!! What a journey to find something that works!! My little guy hates to be swaddled but startles himself all night during sleep which causes all sorts of noises even in his sleep. When we swaddled arms down in any way/brand, he grunted until pulling himself free.

I promise you a 7 week old can un-Velcro a swaddle if they’re determined!! Lol Finally circled around to this one that I originally saw but was detoured from because let’s face it, it looks AWFUL! But it works!! Little man can keep his arms up, he’s comfortable and (knock on wood, & throw salt over your shoulder) he actually slept an extra two hours.

5. 5 hours total!! That was an impressive gift considering I just wanted silent sleep for myself LOL! I’d say- as with everything, this may not work for some but it saved us. I’m purchasing two more so I don’t feel the need to wash them daily because they may get spit up or dirty during diaper changes at night.

I’ve learned that the two-way zipper is a must for swaddles and sleep sacks. Thank goodness for this swaddle having just that. It’s the only one that allowed my baby to continue snoozing semi-peacefully while I changed a dirty diaper.

It fit snug and kept baby from startling but my baby just had the hardest time accepting being swaddled. It had to be put on at the perfect time before bed just so baby could actually sleep in it. Otherwise, there would be struggle to fight out of the swaddle, as if baby couldn’t bear to be restrained, and efforts to help baby fall asleep would have to be reattempted.

In the end, the use of the item was reduced to a handful of nights before baby ultimately grew out of it.

I want to start by saying that I was very excited by ordering this product for our baby. It seems to have consistently good reviews and be fairly highly regarded. Unfortunately, this was not our experience.

The Sleep Sack Swaddle does have a few great parts of it’s design going for it. This includes the zipper which zips from bottom to top to make diaper changes in the night easier, strong and secure Velcro, nice feeling and light-weight material, and featuring a cute design on the swaddle itself.

The first flaw I will note about the product which I don’t think affected our experience but definitely could for some, is the use of actual tags in the garment. Many companies have chosen to label their products using a more printed on fashion rather than a physical tag, but somehow Halo seems not to have kept current with this.

The printed labels serve to prevent babies becoming upset because they can be overly sensitive to things such as labels in clothing. The biggest flaw for us and ultimately the reason we do not like the product is because the wings which are used to swaddle our baby are absolutely massive.

They are far too long to swaddle our baby with properly. I have tried to Google solutions for this and have tried the very few suggestions out there to be able to swaddle our baby tighter without any success.

Since the swaddle is not able to be done up snug enough, our baby is able to raise her arms up toward her face and with them, so comes the wings used to swaddle. This causes the fabric of the wings to gather around her face creating a very unsafe sleep environment.

We bought this version because we wanted to be able to swaddle. This may work better as a sleep sack as there is no way we would be able to get the wings tight enough around our baby for a swaddling effect on either her arms or body when her arms are out.

Our baby does like to be swaddled and we have had success with another brand of swaddle.

I ordered two size Small swaddle sleepsacks for my baby when he was 2 1/2 months old and he has worn them until just yesterday at 5 1/2 months old. They fit him well the whole time, so I was glad to get three months of use! They were so comfy and versatile for my baby, and reliable and easy for me.

The swaddle wrap worked well to keep baby’s arms from startling him, and even after his arms were free, the swaddle wrap around his body kept him warm. He wore a footed one-piece jammy under the sleepsacks all summer with A/C and didn’t get too hot or cold.

There were a couple of small differences between the two designs I got, but not dealbreakers. The squiggle lamb design had a two-way zipper so you could zip from the bottom up to close it, and zip from the top down to open.

The blue doggie design only had an inverted zipper that had to be attached at the top and then zipped down. I wonder if Halo stopped the two-way zipper because, while convenient, a child could potentially grab it at the top and unzip it, which would loosen the sack and make it unsafe.

I don’t think my little baby could have done that, but I have read that slightly older babies can unzip sleepsacks. Also, the lamb design was made of slightly softer cotton than the doggie design, I thought.

But otherwise, they worked the same and were very durable and cozy. I think the way I laundered my baby’s swaddle sleepsacks are what kept them in good condition with no broken zippers. To wash, I always zipped the zipper and closed the velcro on the swaddle, then put in a mesh laundry bag and washed with other baby clothes on delicate.

To dry, I unfastened the zipper and velcro and hung to dry on a hanger. (They never got dry in the dryer, anyway. ).

Absolutely love these swaddles! Everytime a nurse came into the room and I asked how to swaddle they all did it different, which made it difficult for me to learn. Once we got home I tried to do it as I remembered best but the swaddle came undone and covered his face, I was horrified and thank god this was during a nap.

I immediately did some research and resorted to halo. My son had extreme reflux and these held up being washed daily that I passed them down to his baby brother too! My only issue is how short these swaddles are, and I have small babies too, I can’t imagine how quickly average sized babies would outgrow them because we barely made it to 3 months even sizing up to small.

Otherwise great quality. Tip for washing: make sure you close the sack and fasten the Velcro parts as you would on a baby otherwise the superior Velcro could get stuck onto other clothes in the dryer and damage them.
