Having purchased the 1TB for under 90, WOW, it’s not that often I make impulsive purchases like this, but after seeing the lower price – I just had to have one! Having continually updated myself with all things Tech/Computers, and always building my/our machines, and knowing the impressive solid reviews these Rocket M.
2 ssd’s have acquired, what’s not to be like, excellent performance that’s close to advertised speeds – at this time price!!! Luckily, our average file is relatively small, so this drive fits our storage needs perfectly.
I’ve been very impressed since owning, again, getting close enough to advertised speeds, using as a 2nd storage, which leaves me with the thought that ‘I can without a doubt recommend these Rocket SSD’s’ so much so, my brother has also bought one after I mentioned the cost, a fab price, that I still find unbelievable – one terabyte for under 90! Fantastic!.
This is an excellent alternative to other brands with higher awareness. Packaging is a nice quality tin with foam so these are unlikely to be damaged during transit. The speeds are not Samsung Evo but so close and way ahead of other WD, Seagate, Crucial etc at the same price point.
This is MLC with some SLC cache to get the performance of both read and write. The Sabrent Rocket Q is QLC so is likely to be slower on the read (I cannot confirm this as I have not reviewed the rocket Q).
This is a good Nvme drive and is faster than most. The 5 Year warranty is untested so I cannot comment other than most competitors come with 3 years (make of that what you will). I think they are trying to establish a quality brand in SSD so you are getting a premium product at lower than normal price.
A good buy. Well worth considering against other more established brands.
Unleash the power of the Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4. 0 NVMe SSD for next-level computing. 980 PRO delivers 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe 3. 0, while maintaining compatibility with PCIe 3. 0. Get read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s with 980 PRO and push the limits of what SSDs can do.
Powered by a new Elpsis controller designed to harmonize the flash memory components and the interface for superior speed – with a PCIe 4. 0 interface that’s 2x faster than PCIe 3. 0 SSDs and 12x faster than Samsung SATA SSDs – every component of this NVMe SSD is manufactured by Samsung for performance that lasts.
Excellent drive. Samsung is known in the industry with the best NAND compared to competitors and this drive exemplifies this nicely in the consumer space. While other drives post better benchmarks in synthetics and even real world transfers in some comparisons realize this: Samsung can do exactly the same if they choose to do so via Firmware.
I know since I test NAND, FW and Drive Controllers for a living from all vendors. Samsung’s 980 Pro 2TB not only delivers competitive performance the price premium some are concerned over gives you more reliable NAND after the standard warranty offering as well as a reliable in-house process from R&D to production.
You won’t go wrong on this product as it keeps up with the heavy hitters and you will have peace of mind as to NAND reliability (which is where your data is stored) long after the manufacturer warranty period.
Samsung ARR on this product is very appealing over say competitors including those who outsource their NAND sourcing. One final word: Samsung’s FW design means they spend a lot less time in Background FW processes that will eat your NAND endurance quickly.
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. TLDR the Samsung 980Pro is a beast. As long as your computer supports PCIe 4. 0, youll experience data transfer rates that were previously only possible with NVME RAID setups, but with a single drive.
Depending on what your system is capable of, youll be able to play back multiple UNCOMPRESSED 8K video streams simultaneously. Its seriously the kind of fast where youll be able to do things that previously required expensive NVME RAID arrays to do.
If you do lots of 4k video editing on an appropriate workstation, you should just go ahead and get this. If you dont have PCIe 4. 0, however, this wont do anything for you. Now for the nittygrittyOne of the promises of PCI Express 4.
0 is that it would be faster for data transfer than PCI Express 3. 0 up to twice as fast. I wasnt able to experience that with my Ryzen 3800X build and my previous NVME SSD, as it was a PCIe 3. 0 model.
The PCIe 4. 0 test rig AMD Ryzen 3800X, ASRock Taichi X570, 32GB G. Skill Trident Royal DDR43600, AMD Radeon 5700XT 8GB. The PCIe 3. 0 test rig Intel Core i74790, Asus Z97A, 32GB G. Skill RIpJaws X DDR31866 OCd to 2133, AMD Radeon RX 590 8GB.
With a PCIe 4. 0 system, you wont notice a huge difference in performance when it comes to typical workloads. I noticed almost no difference in boot times for Windows 10, loading all but the largest games MK 11 Ultimate was actually a little slower with this drive than it was using my PCIe 3.
0 drive, but Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was a bit faster, and typical productivity workloads run exactly the same. Bulk conversion of graphic files JPG to PNG was slightly faster though. compressing ZIP and 7ZIP files was slightly faster.
Where my PCIe 3. 0 SSD would run out of run out of bandwidth copying multiple large video to itself, I wasnt fast enough to do that with the 980Pro. So this is where synthetic benchmarks come into play, to determine how fast this drive really is.
And what are we talking about in terms of transfer speeds I managed reads of over 7200 MB per second and writes of over 5100 MB per second as measured by CrystalDiskMark, BlackMagic Disk Speed Test, and Task Manager in Windows 10 20H2 preview.
Ive never seen BMDST check off that I could read and write every format before, but seeing that it estimated I could write 2160p YUV422 at a little over 305 fps absolutely wowed me. In a state of disbelief, I tested again in Ubuntu 20.
04 LTS and got similar speeds Over 7000 MBps read and 5000 MBps write. So yes, this is the real deal for people that want to edit uncompressed 4k video. After reading reviews of both this drive and competing PCIe 4.
0 NVME drives with people that dont have PCIe 4. 0capable systems, I decided to do some other testing just to see what it would do in an older PCIe 3. 0capable computer. There was a negligible difference in speed between this and a previousgeneration NVME maybe 2530 MBps with both reads and writes, tops.
While 3400 MBps is still impressive for reads and writes with a PCIe 3. 0 system, it doesnt justify spending more for the 980Pro versus the previousgeneration drive. So recommendation time. Who dont I recommend this drive for anyone with a currentlyavailable Intelbased desktop as of 4 Dec 2020.
anyone with an Intel laptop with 10th gen or earlier processor. anyone with an AMD Ryzen desktop who isnt using a B550 or X570 chipset, or a Threadripper or EPIC workstation without a TRX4 motherboard anyone with an AMD Ryzen laptop as of 4 Dec 2020 Mac users as of 4 Dec 2020 sorry guys, no Mac supports PCIe 4.
0 and most Macs couldnt use this to its fullest anyway, even with an adapter. anyone that doesnt do anything overly diskintensive and is okay with saving some money instead of getting the absolute fastest thing out there in terms of disk access.
Who do I recommend this for gamers who play titles on a regular basis that are over 125GB in size Red Dead 2, COD. media production people who do a lot of 4k video editing on a PC. people that will batch convert thousands of pictures at a time on a regular basis.
people that want bragging rights, even if their computer doesnt support it. It is a good M. 2 SSD though, so I can recommend it as one to buy. Also, as more systems gain PCIe 4. 0 in the future Intel Rocket Lake, AMD Ryzen Mobile, Ill be able to recommend this for more people.
and more systems. And as the price comes down in the future, Ill be able to recommend getting this over a PCIe generation drive as cost wont be as much of a consideration at that point.

Works perfectly with PS5 with a read speed about 6800mb even tho MAX is 7000mb read. Top side comes with thermal pad and a thin heat shield. You can order a plate and thermal pad online for the bottom of the m.
2 there not space in ps5 slot so don’t get a fat heat sink or shield. I did order extra thermal pad for PC M. 2 OR if I decided to add a shield plate for the bottom. PS5 can really heat up the room. I normal wouldn’t buy this brand, but because of the read speed being 7000mb I gave it shot and after reading reviews.
Other known suggested brand has read speed up to 6000mb but not even brand name is made to have the same specs as advertised when installed into a system. I’ve seen some Samsungs PRO with read speed up to 6000mb with a read speed cutting it close to Ps5 requirement of 5500mb after installed.
PS5 require 5500mb read. I should of snapshot a pic of the spec after install. What’s good about installing M. 2 you can play off the drive vs external drive. Hope this helps when your looking to adding M.
I was going to buy a WD Black ssd but for a 2tb they want nearly 400 for the drive with the pre installed heatsink and then I found this gem at almost half the price and with slightly better performance.
It only took a few minutes to install and format, and the speed it reads at is just over 6100 and transferring ps4 games is super fast. There are several gen4 ssd’s you can get but unless you can find a great deal which is hard with the ongoing chip shortage, then I would really consider getting one of these as the price is good and the quality is excellent.
I would highly recommend this ssd to all ps5 owners looking to increase their storage but don’t want to break the bank doing it. Having used this ssd for a good few weeks I can happily say it has performed flawlessly and I have certainly noticed the difference in loading times.
I’m now considering on maybe even getting a 4TB ssd but with prices as they are it’s not going to be until later in the year and only if the price drops a bit. But even with 2TB I’m not filling it up so I should OK for a while, and even with GT7 and Grid Legends being huge games I’ve still got plenty of free space.
Others here are writing that they have had failures with this drive. Specifically, when you start up your PC it may not be detected. Often this problems happens on the first boot (“cold boot”) but if you restart the drive will then be detected.
There is a fix. I originally returned one drive thinking it was faulty, and then after having the same issues on the replacement, I did some more experiments. On AMD boards, there is a BIOS setting called CSM.
Disable this. This one change was all that needed to ensure this drive was detected by my PC on every boot. With that problem solved, this is the best M2 SSS available. It has immense speed, strong sustained copy, higher endurance than Samsung drives and the SLC doesn’t degrade as on the Sabrent Rocket drives.
Experience unprecedented speed for system startup, game loading and more at up to 7000 MB/s read speed with this new generation SSD, powered by the latest PCIe 4. 0 controller and ultra-fast DDR4 cache.
The thermally-optimized heat spreader maximizes reliability and minimizes throttling, with a low profile for fit even under the graphics card. And an easy-to-use SSD Tool Box lets you monitor the SSD status, optimize performance, and secure-erase data.
The E18 controller is built with the advanced 12nm process ensuring sufficient computing power. Also, it supports up to 8 NAND Flash channels with 32CE, DDR4 SLC caching and meets NVMe 1. 4. Selected High-Speed 3D TLC NAND Flash (1200MT/s).
The 3D TLC NAND Flash(96L) is operating at 1200MT/s, which is 50 % more than the prevision version which leads to better performance. Challenged passive cooling to maximize surface area for heat dissipation with advanced thermal technology Nanocarbon coating.
Applied with dual side high conductivity thermal pad ensures the heat transfer to the heatsink. The 7mm height heatsink is compatible with all the M. 2 slots including the one under the graphic card.
Bought to upgrade storage in my new PS5 which I filled far too quickly. This SSD was well reviewed and was on a Today-Only deal. Very easy to fit and also a perfect fit with the SSD bay cover on. PS5 tested at roughly 6500ish Mb/s and so far I can’t tell any difference between loading times from the in-built or expanded storage.
Works great in my PS5- Easy install, just basically pop the cover off. No noticeable difference with load times. Wanted internal storage- so I didn’t have to reload game from external storage and this fit my needs perfectly.

2 NVMe SSDs and 12x faster than SATA SSDs The FireCuda 530 with Heatsink is compatible with PS5 consoles.
A worthy upgrade from a 1TB Corsair MP510 NVMe Gen 3. 0 SSD. ATTO and CrystalDiskMark show the full and consistent read/write and IO performance with my new Ryzen 9 5900x system. Loading times for some very demanding games have significantly reduced, as well as regular file operations for large media and setup files.
Some tips: – Use Macrium Reflect Free to clone your old SSD, and don’t forget to adjust the drive size allocation for the new drive before you start it. Avoid any of the paid products to clone your drive, especially those that claim to be free in their marketing then charge when you try to actually use it.
– Note that you should always leave at least 15-25% free space on any SSD, otherwise write speeds start becoming erratic and much slower; write speeds fall off a cliff under 15% free space, as I found out when testing my previous SSD when low on space.
You can find a famous AnandTech article for proof of this and to see just how bad it can get.
Bought this to go into my PS5 because apparently Sony doesn’t want you to have many of their games on your console at any one time. Installation was easy and a 5 minute job, but if you have any issues there are videos online which walk you through it.
Once installed and formatted by the console I did notice the claimed 7000mb speeds weren’t seen by PS giving me just over 5500mb/s, so quite a difference. To clarify this went straight from box to PS5 so I didn’t try formatting with pc or using elsewhere first that could have impacted speeds, but perhaps the console has an issue with seeing it, but it is gen 4 supposedly so this shouldnt be the case.
Who knows, the console still uses it, so I’m not too bothered, but it is worth noting that difference in claimed speeds Vs actuals.

Bought this for my brother, who is travelling for business. He wanted an external storage drive that would be able to transfer data faster than his external mechanical drive and be much smaller. This X6, while definitely not the fastest portable SSD, was exactly what he wanted.
The X6 fits in a small palm of a hand and the plastics feels well put together. But don’t be fooled by the spec sheet and do your research! The internal interface is SATA and the 2+ TB I transfered to the X6 so far had write speeds at around 350MBps before it hit the cache limit of ~450GB, after that it wrote at under 50MBps (I ended up transferring the data in 450GB sections).
I havent done too much with read tests, so I cannot comment on that side. Altogether I do belive it was a good purchase for his needs.
I love this company that make these drives! They are reputable and worth every dollar spent. This was very easy to format to an imac mini late 2012, it is lightweight, very portable, and the usb-c adapter that come with is very short for space, but you will need an usb-a if you still have old school items you need this for, as it does not come with one.
I can’t think of anything bad about this because it is a 4TB SDD and hasn’t given me any hiccups since I started using it. This drive is so great, I may just buy another one to use when apple drops the next M2 iPad and buy the lowest storage and just attach this to it!.
So I purposefully went to the store to look for something that would be fast on loading games onto it. I bought this Crucial SSD 500GB Drive for that sole purpose. Let me tell you downloading Games and installing them onto it has been nothing but a breeze thus far.
I truly enjoy my purchase and I have enjoyed doing business with Crucial and will continue. I was most certainly blown away after connecting it to my PC. The installation was easy and, my PC Found the Drive right away.
The drive comes with a USB 3. 0 Cable that I connected to my USB 3. 0 Port on my Computer and installation on Spin Disc’s are a thing of the past now.
This SSD is backward compatible with PCIe Gen3 x4, PCIe Gen3 x2, PCIe Gen3 x1, PCIe Gen2 x4, PCIe Gen2 x2, and PCIe Gen2 x1. Compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 8. 1 operating systems for use with your existing computers. Sleek heatsink minimizes thermal throttling to push the boundaries of performance for top-tier gaming.
Enhance your gaming station with fully customizable RGB lighting controlled through the WD_BLACK Dashboard (Windows only) and designed to match your style. Take total control with the downloadable software, allowing you to monitor the health of your drive, and optimize performance using gaming mode.
Now works with PlayStation 5 console. Installed in your M. 2 slot, play and store PS4 and PS5 games directly from the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD with Heatsink and have the speed that you need to experience the next gen in its full glory.
I know absolutely nothing about the internal workings of computers or gaming systems and the installation was super easy even for me. It works perfectly with the PS5. Total game changer with storing PS5 games on the console.
The internal storage it comes with is pretty pitiful, but this gives a perfect amount of extra space, without breaking the bank. And unlike an external drive, you can play games directly from it! Not going to lie, it was a bit frustrating transferring games back and forth from the external hard drive to internal storage just to play it.
And if you purchase a new game, you have to decide what game(s) you are going to bump off and just stop playing all together. You have to REALLY want to play a game or keep doing the back-and-forth transfer.
This really opens up the PS5 gaming experience. An absolute must have.
This product works as designed and is fantastic. and yes it works perfectly with an area51M R1 or R2 alienware laptop–BUT YOU MUST REMOVE THE HEATSINK WHICH HAS A HIGH CHANCE OF DAMAGING THE SSD AND DEFINITELY WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY OR RETURN.
I RECOMMEND BUYING THE VERSION WITHOUT THE HEATSINK which apparently is more expensive due to higher demand. (fine print) A51M is only gen3 whereas this SSD is Gen4 so the SSD is capable of much more speed than the laptop can take advantage of, but I’m sure you will not notice the difference short of HDD speed benchmarks.
This SSD even reduced to Gen 3 speeds is still incredibly fast. Full review points as the product is great, not it’s fault Dell made the alienware with no room for a decent heatsink.
As the title says, I installed this ssd in my ps5. When I first formatted it, the read speed was 6583/MBps. Most games load instantly on this drive, but some still have the same loading times. Horizon Forbidden West literally loads the second I press to start it.
Installation was very easy. You just have to slide one of the covers off of the ps5, then unscrew the plate that covers the empty m. 2 slot. Install it, put the covers back on and you’re good to go! I would recommend using a #0 philips screwdriver.
If you’re looking for extra storage, this is definitely a great option. I will probably get a second one for my laptop :).
Sony PlayStation 5 Compatible, 1TB Storage Capacity, M. 2 2280 Form Factor, PCIe 4. 0 x4 Interface, Built-In Heatsink Included, Up to 7300 MB/s Read Speed, Up to 6000 MB/s Write Speed, 3D TLC NAND Flash Technology, Windows 10 & Linux Support Increase the storage of your PC with the Seagate 1TB FireCuda 530 PCIe 4.
0 x4 NVMe M. 2 Internal SSD with Heatsink. Utilizing the PCIe 4. 0 x4 interface the FireCuda 530 provides up to twice the performance of the previous gen PCIe 3. 0 and up to 12 times the performance of SATA SSDs.
The FireCuda 530 is designed to handle the power and performance needed for accelerated gaming and content-creation apps. With read speeds up to 7300 MB/s and write speeds up to 6000 MB/s you can experience quick loading times putting you in your games faster.
The built-in heatsink is built from a high-grade aluminum block to provide the cooling needed to reduce thermal throttling. This FireCuda 530 with heatsink is also compatible with the Sony PlayStation 5 meeting its specs on performance and dimensions.
Added this to my PS5 and it provides some needed storage. I do notice that the system runs hotter and louder when using a game installed on the Firecuda SSD. I have noticed some lags on the system. I have also received some crashes i didnt have before the install.
When playing a game from the Firecuda and pressing start, i can hear the fan and system get softer but, as soon as i resume the game, it gets louder again. It also does this when holding the PS button.
Not sure what that’s about. Also, For some reason, putting this in was trickier than adding an ssd to my ps4. It was hard to tell when sliding the SSD in the slot if it was placed completely in correctly as there was no click noise or feedback.
The PS5 or the Firecuda did not come with the NVME screw so i had to pay $15 for a pack of them as I couldn’t just find one at the hardware store. It was extremely hard to remove the bay screw from the PS5 and i had to use a lot of force.
Some online searches show others had similar experiences. So far this thing has held up and my ps5 is still alive so for the most part everything seems fine. I prefer to run things on the PS5 ssd because of less fan noise and cooler run.
Time will tell if this thing holds up. Sony should have released proprietary SSD’s like Xbox.
I admit that this drive is EXPENSIVE but completely worth it. I play a lot of games, so many that I have always expanded my consoles in some way, either I got a console with a lot of memory or I did it myself.
This thing is blazing fast and extremely easy to install once you figure out how to take off the ps5 cover without breaking it. I honestly struggled more with that stupid plastic cover than slotting the ssd in and securing it with the screw.
It’s a perfect fit and it’s plug and play. Once you get your system back on, the PlayStation will pick it up immediately and ask you to format it and that’s honestly it. Congratulations you’re good to go! Also you can still use an external drive if that is your prerogative, just plug it back in after you format the ssd, it won’t pick it up otherwise.
Moving the games took seconds, like it’s literally insane how fast it is. My advice if you’re looking for a good amount of memory but don’t want to drop the money for a 4TB, get a 2TB and no lower, the write and read speeds are not simply there.
The drives can go up to the speeds that are advertised on the box but it’s a different story once you plug that drive in, with everything the more memory you have the better performance you’re going to get out of it.
Keep that in mind when you’re trying to make your purchase. Hope this helps!.

Hardware Used: ASUS Prime B560-Plus motherboard i5-11500 CPU paired with Enermax ETS-T40fit (200W TDP) CPU Cooler WD SN 850 500GB gen 4 x4 M. 2 NVMe SSD Patriot Memory Viper Steel (2×8 GB) DDR4-3600MHz XMP memory 500 GB capacity drive is more than enough for me, only Samsung and Western Digital have something less than 1 TB.
Knowing that Samsungs 500GB and smaller capacity 980 Pro drives may have uncleared cache problems causing very slow speed after one month or so, I chose this WD SN 850 model with the hope of avoiding similar problem.
This is my first build of 11th generation Intel CPU and PCIe 4. 0 motherboard. Buying this SSD is just something that I WANT but not something that I NEED. When installing WIN 10 to the new PC, the first step is to copy files to the drive after product key verification.
I just could not believe my eyes that the Copying Files process was completed at the blink of my eyes. It was so fast, completed in one second (installed from 128 GB Samsung Fit flash drive, up to 300MB/s).
The same copying process for my previous builds took two minutes or so for PCIe 3. 0 motherboard with 2. 5 SATA3 SSD (installed from DVD drive) or fifteen minutes or so for PCIe 2. 0 motherboard with 7200 RPM mechanical HDD (from DVD drive).
Win 10 probably had the files to be copied read ahead into memory, otherwise even the flash drive with 300 MB/s still could not get it done in one second. That is how I can appreciate the speed of this drive, otherwise I just do not have daily tasks that demand such a high speed to make it noticeably faster than my other PCIe 3.
0 x4 M. 2 NVMe SSD PC. I ran different benchmark programs for this drive, only listing sequential reads here. Userbenchmark ~ 3,500 MB/s (at this point I thought I got a Gen 3 M. 2 NVMe drive) Samsung Magician ~ 6,358 MB/s AS SSD ~ 5,500 MB/s Crystal Disk Mark ~ 6,940 MB/s WDs Dashboard has nothing to test benchmark All programs (including BIOS and Win 10) indicated the model is WDS500G1X0E, not WD SN 850.
I will not complain here that the speed is not close to 7,000 MB/s spec, probably because 500 GB models use smaller cache than 1 TB or 2 TB models. There is always a discount in speed for smaller capacity models.
With this drive and the hardware configurations, I can compile a video of about ten and a half minutes in one and half minute, that is, in about 14. 8% of the video duration. My other PC with PCIe 3.
0 motherboard and gen 3 x4 M. 2 NVMe SSD compiling the same video took about 26% of the duration time to complete. Will buy more in the future for Linux and Win11 if the price can drop significantly.
I’ve had this drive for a while. It is amazing, only gets hot a bit and needs a bit cooling. Now i purchaed the second drive but i’ve realized that the model code on the new one was different “WDBAPY0010BNC” the first drive was “WDS100T1X0E” So i decided to make some search on internet, the products that was tested by some autohrities and reviewers on the internet had tested the “WDS100T1X0E” Also on WD product page for SN850 1TB w/out heatsink is said as the model: WDS100T1X0E.
SO now I have big doubts on this new drive? I don’t think that it is fake cuz this model is also sold by well known sellers, but what is it then? Is it a revised model which includes cheaper components that is produced special for Asia market?? Did WD do smt.
like the other companies infamous on such tricks? First produce the high performing model to be tested by everyone, then after 6 months sell the second version with the same brand name for a cheaper price? I saw some comments on the forums but i couldn’t find any concrete proof that is the exactly same drive.
Is there anything that Western Digital tell on it?.
The WD SN850 and the Seagate FireCuda 530 are the best NVMe’s for upgrading your PS5, as after all the upgrades and installations have completed, you are only left with just over 600gb. After installing Horizon Zero dawn (PS4) and Control (PS5), I was left with only 460gb.
So, yes you need to get a storage upgrade. I have x16 PS5 games and lots of PS4 games which run at a better frame rate with a 4K graphics upgrade. So this was a no brainer, make sure you upgrade your PS5 firmware to the latest version or it won’t recognise the NVMe storage.
Also, one it formats the NVMe for use, I found that it gave me inaccurate read speeds of 5156 gbps when it should be up to 7000 gbps. I checked a few YouTube channels regarding this and it appears to be a normal thing until the firmware is finely tuned.
The FireCuda got read speeds of 6170 gbps when it should be 7300 gbps. But that aside, it performs as advertised, switching between games is a breeze and loads times are next gen as are update installations.
A Far Cry from my PS4 with a 2TB Seagate SSD upgrade (pun intended).
The WD_Black P50 Game Drive SSD provides maximum speed and performance. Thanks to the advanced SSD technology of the WD_Black P50 Game Drive SSD, PCs and consoles get a significant speed boost for faster responsiveness and faster load times to keep playing at the top.
The WD_Black P50 Game Drive SSD also features SuperSpeed USB connectivity at up to 20Gbps (USB 3. 2 Gen 2×2) specifically designed for high performance and long-term compatibility, as well as new hardware, components and accessories for years to come.
The combination of features and lightning-fast read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s2 make the WD_Black P50 Game Drive SSD a storage device with tremendous performance and reliability. The system boots faster, load times are reduced, and the game is back to the center of attention.
I’ve used my D10 for something like 2 years since ordering off of Newegg early on in the pandemic, and was very satisfied with the actual performance of the drive when using it as a secondary SteamLibrary unit.
Allocating disk space during Steam game installs can either be instantaneous, semi-fast, or agonizingly slow depending on the type of storage media you’re installing your game onto, and most HDDs tend to err on the agonizining slow slide of things–even the 7,200 RPM drives (especially the external drives) unless you’ve got a proper SATA setup going on.
Suffice it to say, the D10 is nothing like other HDDs insomuch as Steam library installations go. Every install that I’ve put on this drive has been on the instantaneous/very-fast side of things, and when you’re queueing up multiple games (especially if you’ve got several terabytes worth of titles you’re interested in putting in your download queue) this seemingly simple difference in space allocation speed can literally shave as much as 30-60 minutes of waiting time off of your queueing process if you’re lining up 30-40+ titles for download.
Not to mention, faster write speeds and space allocation also means there’s less of a hardware throttle/bottleneck on your download speeds; if you have 2. 5GB fiber optic like me, this can mean the difference in as much as 50-100MB/s of download throughput per second.
I have external SSDs (first generation, mind you) that are slower than my D10–this is one impressive HDD, and for the price its seriously hard considering buying anything else for the excellent performance.
I got mine on sale during Black Friday for something like $79–that’s a hair less than $10 per terabyte of storage. This is buy far the best price:performance ratio on any single piece of storage hardware (hell, maybe even just hardware in general) that I’ve ever paid for.
The only disk better for my money that I’ve bought is my SK Hynix P41 2TB @ $139, and that’s a Gen4 M2 clocking 7,000MBs both R/W that I was able to cop at a freakishly good Cyber Monday deal. So that’s saying something.
Unfortunately, I had to take off a star because I bought a brand new computer and with my new battlestation came a transition from Windows 10 to the new Windows 11. And now I can’t get my new computer to read my D10 WD_Black drive at all, no matter which USB port I plug it into–I’m using an ASUS Crosshair VIII, so all my ports are 3.
1 and 3. 2. And it’s not a Endpoints issue common with USB problems on Win 11; I’ve uninstalled all my other USB devices and left this the only one plugged in but it still won’t be recognized by the explorer shell.
If I plug it in to my Win 10 computer, however, it shows up just fine still. Talk about frustrating!! Sadly, I had to remove a star on the rating due to this serious compatibility issue, because I’ve downloaded all the suggested software and drivers/driver updates recommended in troubleshooting guides to zero avail.
I’m keeping my fingers cross that it’ll magically appear in explorer one day and I can once again enjoy this wonderful device. The performance difference while using these other spare external drives is massively noticeable when playing games, particularly when it comes to preloading textures and streaming cutscenes during gameplay.
The D10 was smooth as butter and absolutely mellifluous, and now I’m having to deal with macro and microstuttering on the older external SSDs that I’ve been forced to replace my D10 with in the meantime, and it’s an annoyingly disappointing nuisance.
One of the best hardware technology purchases I have made EVER. This little solid-state drive is incredibly fast, efficient, and looks and feels great. It contains the full contents of my studio and the USB-C connection is stable and fast.
I purchased this at the recommendation of a business partner who mentioned how important it was to have a local, physical backup of everything you own and this has been, by far, the best solution I’ve found that allows me to work locally off the drive WHILE backing up to the cloud (We use Dropbox.
) I have found the overall experience with this Western Digital drive, as always, to be reliable and of extremely high quality. This is one modern-looking and performing drive! Do not hesitate to purchase one for yourself or for your own studio.
It’s marketed as being a gamer’s SSD and I can see why. It’s fast!.
The Samsung Portable SSD T5 elevates data transfer speeds to the next level and unleashes a new experience in external storage. With a compact and durable design and password protection, the T5 is truly easy to carry and stores data securely.
With Samsung V-NAND flash memory and a USB 3. 1 Gen 2 interface, the T5 provides transfer speeds of up to 540 MB/s, that?? s up to 4. 9x faster than external HDDs. Transfers and backups of large-sized data including 4K videos and high-resolution photos will be much quicker and faster.
The top to bottom metal design and rounded unibody fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. The T5 comes in two distinct aluminum finishes – an alluring blue for 250 GB and 500 GB models, and a deep black for 1 TB and 2 TB models.
Smaller than the average business card, weighing just 51 grams, and only 10. 5 mm thick. The compact, light and slim T5 is the perfect portable storage.
Works exactly as intended for my PS5 console and external SSD drive. I formatted this through the front USB port on my PS5, then I plugged it into my PS4 and began the download process of almost 2 dozen games.
The initial transfer took about an hour and a half but after that, WOW! Plugged it into the back USB port on the PS5 and now have the ability to play every single game directly from the External SSD.
It is PLENTY fast enough and there is no need to spend the extra $100 on the newer T7 model, none at all. This transfers games back and forth from internal to external with amazing speed and I have never been happier with a product like this before.
I’ve only owned 2 other external drives and this is the 1st SSD EVER! And it will not be the last. I cannot recommend the product enough. If your looking for a fast, relatively cheaper SSD for your PS5 this one works perfectly.
Just format it on the PS5 initially and it will work from that point on both systems or just your PS5. Make sure you understand how to unplug it safely. Settings, storage, external storage, Safety remove PS5.
PS4 long press PS button and the option pops up. Have fun and enjoy.
Very fast. Great for running large Parallels or VMware Virtual machines instead of running off your internal drive. Also good to make cloned drives and run them on other machines. Great product with 2020 iPad Pro also.
Very light high quality metal device. Includes two cables. The color blends in nice with the iPad space gray. Be sure to look at the 7T which offers a thumb print encryption model as well as double the read rate for newer computers that have newer USB version.
The 5T is great for older computers that top out at 400 to 500/mbs. If you have an older computer, you may want to consider the 7T for future proofing but be aware that the extra 500/mbs (for a total of 1000/mbs) will go to waste until you get a newer computer.
The price difference on the 1TB model is not that much more and worth considering.
Purchased to augment an Xbox One gaming setup already supplemented with a 4TB traditional HD. Seemed to me as if load times were constantly growing on certain games to the point that I was staring at load screens more often than playing.
Checked some sites and settled on this SSD and it’s worth every cent. Shifted a couple of long-loading games onto this credit-card-sized beauty and watched load times drop around 75-80% across the board – with the exception of server connections, can’t do anything about that.
Runs cool and utterly silent. Has made the agony of load times much more bearable, and transferring larger games went quickly. Did not run a formal speed test but the improvement is undeniable. Anyone on the fence, dive in – while it won’t hold your whole library, it’ll hold 10-15 moderately-sized games easily enough and you can transfer games to and from this drive seamlessly.
The World First PCIe 4. 0x4 Controller, Phison PS5016-E16 controller, made by 28nm manufacturing technology. The advanced fabrication process ensures PS5016-E16 has enough compute power for ECC processing when adopting the latest 3D TLC NAND flash.
PS5016-E16 also features eight NAND channels with 32 CE targets, DDR4 DRAM caching, and a PCIe 4. 0x4 interface. As for features, the chip supports the NVMe 1. 3 protocol, LDPC error correction, and Wear Leveling, Over-Provision technologies to improve reliability and durability of SSDs.
The M2 drive is fast and it gets hot so the pretty copper heat sink is not up to the job. If you look at the drive you will see the chip near the connector is thinner so a piece of silicone thermal pad needs to be placed on top to bring it level.
Next a strip top and bottom and a heat sink with a fan. If you have an atx motherboard there will be a fan header near where the m2 drive lives so plug in there. Next, get Speedfan installed to keep a eye on it’s temperature.
After I finished the build I decided to use a 500 2. 5 sata ssd for the os and only games go on the aorus drive. Plays Metro exodus perfectly.
The CS3040 M. 2 NVMe Gen4 x4 Solid State Drive is the ideal solution for PC enthusiasts, gamers, and video rendering professionals toupgrade to the latest in NVMe technology. The NVMe Gen4 x4 interface delivers exceptional performance of up to 5,600MB/s seq.
readand 2,600MB/s seq. write speeds. It is designed to be anultra highperformance SSD to deliver the performance you demand. Boot up inseconds, enjoy lightning fast application launches, and incredible system performance.
The PNY XLR8 CS3040 is highly durable, lesslikely to fail, and features a5 yearwarranty.
I purchased this to install it in Sony PS5. It works fine to save games to and played from but PS5 reported the read speed as 3843. 315 MB/s, well below the advertised 5600 MB/s on this product. Reached out to PNY and their response: Due to a software update that Sony released, the XLR8 Gaming CS3040 no longer meets the required minimum read performance.
However, our XLR8 Gaming CS3140 exceeds the minimum read requirements for the PS5. While CS3040 (with firmware version CS304131) is currently working fine in PS5, I’m considering returning it and getting the one mentioned in PNY’s response even though I’m suspecting a future software update by Sony could throttle even CS3140’s read speeds.
I installed this SSD into my Lenovo 2-in-1 laptop. I thought my computer was fast before I bought this drive. There was already a smaller SSD installed, but I wanted more storage space, so I replaced it with this new drive.
Not only did it give me 4x more storage. it made my read/write speeds increase dramatically. That’s tech-speak for, “It made an already fast computer lightning fast. ” I could not believe the difference.
Shipping was fast and free. The product was superbly packed so as to arrive safely. I would give it 5 more stars if I could. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
One of few SSD m. 2 NVMe with 4tb that meets the PS5 requirements on the expansion while still saving more money that the other brands. The system only needs and uses 5,500 mb/s reading speed anyway.
Unless a PS5 pro version comes out, you only need this. If lucky, you can get this as low as $500, which is half a grand ($1,000). Just make sure to get a heatsink that fits into the PS5. I recommend Sabrent PS5 Heatsink.

I enjoy the model so far. It’s a bit on the heavy side than the S20 FE 5G I had previously, but I’m assuming fan edition models are lighter in weight anyway. The size of the model phone is perfect for me.
I did consider the S22 Ultra, but the color was my determining factor in my decision making, and chose the S22 + instead. I love a good rose gold or pink gold color phone without having to get a case that is that color.
Nothing has changed as far as the gig and storage and I don’t even use remotely close to what I currently have which makes sense that I have just that because this phone is for the use of calls and documents only.
The pictures are amazing and I like that the lenses are a bit more structured than the S20 FE 5G model I had previous. The raised lip really is an added plus. The sound quality is better as well and really like that it’s extremely clear.
I would recommend getting a case for the phone right away for it is a bit slick on the back of the battery compartment. You can easily drop it because that’s how smooth it is. In all, I’m very happy with my decision to purchase this model and look forward to enjoying the features it provides for years to come.
This one is excellent value. This left me torn between the T7 Touch and the Shield. The two models are practically similar in fall resistance (2m and 3m), and the Shield’s water resistance is so-so. It doesn’t mean much to me and isn’t very useful.
If you like outdoor photography and so on these need waterproof, you should choose a higher grade of waterproof products. But the average person doesn’t need the Shield’s waterproofing. The Shield is also bigger and heavier.
For everyday needs like mine, go for the T7 Touch. The packaging is standard, and the product size is beyond my expectation. It is tiny, and the weight is very light on hand. The overall feel of the material is very advanced, and fingerprint recognition is also good.
(I was worried about whether the fingerprint recognition was worth it before choosing this one. ) Besides, the transmission speed is breakneck enough for daily work and playing games. (I downloaded all the games to PSSD to make more space on my computer.
But the rate of reading and writing may be only 85% of the advertised speed in practice.
Whether youre storing critical business documents, games, or movies, the 2TB T7 Touch USB 3. 2 Portable Solid State Drive gives you speed and security in a palm-sized package. The built-in security options on the T7 Touch utilize AES 256-bit encryption and give you the option of unlocking with a touch of your finger or with a password.
Plus, its solid aluminum unibody construction adds further protection, keeping your data safe from falls of up to 6 feet. Transfer massive files in seconds with the incredible speed of USB 3. 2 Gen 2 on the T7 Touch.
With read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, it is perfect for PC, Mac, Android devices, gaming consoles, and more. It also features an LED square that illuminates to keep you informed of what your drive is doing at a glance.
The LED lights turn on and off and rotates during data transfers.
The T7 Touch is fast and reasonable value for money. In normal operation, it’s almost as fast as the internal SSD in my laptop. It’s used as a directly attached storage drive so I can keep certain high volume data off my laptop.
When I initially copied the data, the drive became really hot but doesn’t seem to have suffered any ill effects. This is a known characteristic of these drives when moving large volumes. When I installed it at first, the cable wasn’t as securely attached as I’d thought.
I had to really make sure it was fully inserted into the sockets at both ends to avoid disconnections if I moved the disk or laptop around. I elected to use the password security feature, but having lived with it for a few weeks, I’m not convinced it’s worth it, for me anyway.
The data isn’t particularly sensitive and I have to re-enter the password via free but extra app every time the laptop enters sleep mode or is shut down.
Depending on what operating systems you use this with, its OK, but not great. On MacOS it is not great. On my old MacBook Pro I could never eject it without force ejecting (which is always a little worrying).
I assumed that was due to software I’d downloaded continuing to ‘read’ the SSD. However, on a new MacBook Air M2 with no software added yet (other than the Samsung software to access the SDD settings and security), I still need to force eject.
The SSD works flawlessly with Android except Samsung Phones. On the Galaxy S10+ and now with my Galaxy S21 Ultra, as soon as you plug the SSD into the phone, you get a message to re-start your phone due to an issue with the SSD (though the SSD works fine and unmount).
You have to re-start your phone to get rid of this persistent notification. This doesn’t occur with other android phones. In my experience, Samsung products work fine with all other brands except other Samsung products.
This T7 Touch is of decent speed for a portable SSD and is surprisingly very compact and sturdy. I’m a small guy, but this can easily fit into a pocket. For context, it’s certainly smaller in length, width and height than a smartphone.
Although I wish the industry sold *portable* SSDs at a lower price, I bought this for $250, which was affordable for the context I intend to use it in. Overall, it’s a good deal. The bonus fingerprint encryption feature is very simple to setup and works plug-n-play on any system I’ve tried it on.
The encryption is a great feature if you’re paranoid about losing the drive and don’t want people having access to your data.
This item is REFURBISHEDBack up important data with this Samsung Portable 500GB SSD external storage. The password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption help keep files secure from unauthorized access, and the sturdy, shock-resistant construction keeps data intact from falls of up to 6 feet.
