20 Best Spy Series On Amazon Prime (2023 Updated)

I saw this series when it aired, back in 1983. I had been interested in intelligence and espionage since reading “Kim”, by Rudyard Kipling, as a boy, and found this, the story of the first international spy, fascinating and entertaining.

It was also my first exposure to Sam Neill, who plays the role very well. (My next exposure to Neill was the terrific miniseries “Kane and Abel” with Peter Strauss, Fred Gwynn and others; a remarkably good series, which scored 7.

9/10 on IMDB and is well worth finding. ) The production is excellent, as is the cast; you don’t score 8. 1/10 on IMDB without reason. Highly recommended. Saying that this product is “better than I expected” is incorrect, though; I expected it to be excellent.

Reilly is the prototype for the 20th century super spy. During the first half of his career he worked primarily for the British, playing a key role in the 1905 Russo-Japanese war and the British-German naval competition in the runuip to World War I.

After the 1917 Bolshevik Russian Revolution, Reilly, who was born and raised in Russia, devoted much of his energy to the overthrow of the early Soviet regime. He almost succeeded, but eventually the Soviet secret police caught up with Reilly and took their vengeance.

Reilly is also portrayed as a lady’s man who is not above exploiting the women he attracts. The only serious criticism is that Sam Neill’s portrayal of Reilly’s cool character is almost emotionless, making it difficult to identify with him as the protagonist.

Sidney Reilly (nee Bluminthal), master spy and Iain Fleming’s model for James Bond, combined cunning and a ruthless thirst for power and money. He deployed whomever he found useful as instruments to pursue his goals of wealth and building power.

In some instances his goals coincided with the nationalist goals of the countries whic sought his patronage. In others, he worked against the interests of those countries who paid him. There are a string of women and a few men betrayed and abandoned by Reilly but with at least on a few occasions, some remorse about the damaged people he left.

An interesting character in a complex time for which he was well suited.

The title of this fantastic series, “London Spy”, may just be a little misleading. If you are looking for a well written, edge of your seat, spy story, you’ve found it here. “London Spy” is an atmospheric, very stylistic, story of the human condition and spies.

However, the international intrigue angle of this series is secondary to, but tightly woven through, a love story between Danny and Alex. They meet briefly, by chance, when Alex is on his early morning jog and Danny is at the end of a long night of partying.

It is a metaphor for the opposite ends of life, and the world, from which they will come together. Their awkward relationship is a departure from their entrenched and established lives up to that point.

Danny is a party boy at the end of a misspent youth and Alex is an overachiever at the end of a youthful, self-imposed, isolation. Together, they find solace in their unlikely love for one another. I won’t talk about the plot here and give away the surprises, twists, and turns, that come spilling out like junk from a crammed closet, but something happens between Alex and Danny that calls into question Alex’s true identity, his intentions, and his sincerity.

Things become inexplicable and unpredictable. And for reasons unknown, everyone; Danny’s best friend, Alex’s mother, the police, everyone, seems invested in convincing Danny that Alex, and their relationship, is a fraud.

Danny finds a coded thumb drive among Alex’s belongings that seems to hold answers to something; possibly everything. But he does not have the code. What ensues from here is a labyrinthine journey through the world of hidden powers, unlikely loyalties, and Danny’s questionable past.

These five episodes are brilliantly written, filmed, and the performances are off the charts amazing. Ben Wishaw is just quite frankly one of the most talented and interesting actors working today. He is in almost every scene.

And as talented as his construction of a character is, his ability to step aside and “listen” through a scene demonstrates a skill I don’t think I’ve seen before. Charlotte Rampling, with saddest and most seductive eyes in film, is still statuesque and formidable, and gives one of the best performances of her long and storied career.

Her voice lilts with soothing assurance as her words cut you to pieces. Jim Broadbent, nuf said. Riccardo Scarmarcio, as a heartless male escort, is as alluring as he is repellent. His one scene in season 4 is hypnotic.

Samantha Spiro as a London police detective shows American actresses how to be powerful and menacing without adopting superficial mannish affectations. She is fierce and effective. You do not want to be interrogated by this woman.

Mark Gatiss as a record producer, drug provider, orgy organizer, out of Danny’s past is as skeevy as they come. He does not have one redeeming quality and he plays it without a micron of guilt. Who ever plays a villain this well? This screenplay by Tom Rob Smith is well written and the cast and director Jakob Verbruggen, pull it all together into a compelling and riveting story.

How this story line is parsed out, clues littered about, and then knitted together at the end is fantastic. The cinematography is just manic in the best possible way. The camera swirls around the actors like a shark around a swimmer, pans from mouth to mouth in a conversation literally carrying the dialogue across open space from character to character, pulls in so tight that at times the only image on the screen is the contour of a cheekbone or a speaking mouth.

The necktie scene in the opening of episode 2 is so powerful because of how beautifully it’s shot. I have only one complaint. The fifth episode has, “The End” written all over it. As in, no season 2.

This mini series does cater to a fairly narrow audience I guess. There is nothing vulgar or obscene about it but it does contain and imply some rather exotic sexual practices “enjoyed” by both straight and gay people alike.

But in this case, by gay people. That may be a bridge too far for some but the quality of this work and the story line of this project more than justifies it. And it never seems out of balance or exploitative.

See, again here, I don’t want to give away why. You just have to see it for yourself and trust. It is well worth the journey.

Extremely engaging production. A somewhat dark drama. The character development is well-done, and the story holds your attention all the way thru. I watched this movie twice, and found that I learned things that I totally missed the 1st time around, discovering more depths to the story.

Highly, highly recommended.

“London Spy” is a combination of spy thriller and gay romance, with strong performances by Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent and others. The mysteries unfold over five one-hour episodes filmed in and around London.

It has multiple story twists, but may have a twist or two too many by the final minutes. Overall, it’s still intriguing and entertaining.

I love older spy movies. This is an example. John le Carre wrote great books. Alec Guiness does an excellent job breathing life into George Smiley. I suggest you watch the additional movies with George Smiley in them.

This original British mini-series (3 DVD discs, 2 episodes per disc) is a slow moving brain-twister. You must enjoy delving deep into the details of British culture to fully savour this drama. The american remake that is hitting the screens early 2012 has a lot more visual punch (plenty of video FX etc), but probably a lot less subtlety in getting the content across.

There are even a few dialogue snippets that take a pot-shot at the Hollywood way of doing things, even if they are British (if you haven’t guessed, Eon Productions, Mr. Broccoli and daughter, 007, need I say more)??? John LeCarré’s novel is done justice because precisely there are no Big Production scenes like in the 007 series.

Enjoy. I did, thoroughly.

Great production of a great classic cold war era espionage mystery. True to the original John Le Carre novel with superb acting and actors.

This set is very informative – so much so that many of the very dramatic revelations pertaining to WWII and the Cold War (sorry, I haven’t yet seen the ones on the Gulf War and Viet Nam to judge) before it was first aired in the mid-90’s were either little or totally unknown.

Many of the episodes are very riveting. All are interesting. It was aired first I believe on the History Channel in the early 2,000’s under the title, “Sworn to Secrecy” back when the History Channel used to air shows on, what a concept, history.

The show was then discontinued and then, gained limited distribution and sold on a per-episode basis by Time-Life. It was, however, until now not available at any price in wide distribution. Within the past 5 years, the former Military Channel aired a few episodes under the title, “History Exposed.

” However, this is the first time it has received wide distribution – at any price, let alone at this very reasonable price. a must-have for anyone interested in history, especially WWII.

These are awesome. Especially the stuff on the third reich. Behind the scenes stuff. Charlton Heston narrates very well. Not much repetition like other war stuff. Good original footage. Most footage I’ve never seen b4.

Good value for the money.

Great series for war history buffs. Heston is a fantastic narrator. You can binge watch these and never get bored.

This amazing drama is interesting with wonderful characters and beautiful sets. You actually feel transported back to the Revolutionary War. It’s based on fact and surprises you with many twists and turns.

I have never been accused of being a history buff, but love to learn from movies. When I found out this drama is based off of correspondence Washington kept, so it is steeped in facts, I was intrigued! I can imagine (since watching Turn) what a struggle it must have been at that time to have to choose – loyalist or revolutionary; stay & fight or escape to more peaceful areas.

And in choosing, & letting others know of that choice, you became your neighbor’s mortal enemy! This show presents a side to the war that is rarely examined in the history books.

Good history lesson. At least our country back in this time frame tried and succeeded to push our nation forward to a great country. Excellent learning lessons for students from middle school to my age in my 60’s.

I actually knew these things (of course not all) but am refreshing my memory to remember how good we really have in America. We need to protect our country better. We used to do that! Great series! Hops there will be more! Debra E in Georgia.

Perfect for the spy kids fan! My 5 year old could watch this trilogy everyday lol It’s crazy how something from the early 2000s can still be loved by young kids. I recommend this set from Target, was the best price.

My son was very excited to receive it!.

Unironically one of the best trilogies out there. Each one is a banger. Can’t miss out on this.

Childhood favorite! Simple but yet an amazing spy story for the entire family!

3D was over the top! This is how all 3D movies should use the technology of 3D. Story and characters were weaker than the original movie. But is was still a passable family movie.

Really enjoyed the movie (in 3D) and I’m an old guy, not a kid. The plot and “bad guys” are, naturally, cheesy (kinda like the old Adam West Batman shows) but all-in-all, a hoot. Jessica Alba is a plus.

My son has watched this movie about 30 times since we bought it! When her watches it on his portable DVD player, with ear buds in, he laughs uncontrollably! He has his favorite parts regarding the dogs abilities, and as a parent, I think they created this film wonderfully!.

The series follows the adventures of U. N. C. L. E’s female ace secret agent American April Dancer, as she combats the world threatening power of T. H. R. U. S. H. She travels to many parts of the world to fight evil.

April often gets knocked unconscious or faints and is kidnapped by her enemies but with help from her English partner, Mark Slate, always recovers to save the day. All the episodes are action packed and the lead character, April Dancer (Stefanie Powers) is extremely likable and engaging.

The original series aired on T. V. in the mid 1960’s and I am sure anyone around who can remember the original will enjoy seeing the series again while new viewers will love seeing the very attractive Miss Dancer escape from fates worse than death in almost every episode.

Very good if you like drama mixed in with a touch of humou.

I had a great time reliving the mystery stories of yester year that still were exciting and Stefanie Powers as the lead was still a great lady. Aside from the old computers, they still did a fine job, using their wits and ingenuity to catch their man or woman.

The quality and colour of the film was great for such an old show. Really recommend.

I have loved Robert Redford since he played in “Downhill Racer” so many years ago and “Spy Games” falls right into one of my favorites with him. This movie is such a great movie that I had to purchase it for my collection.

Brad Pitt and Robert Redford together is a great combination and not hard on the eyes makes it a bonus. This movie has suspense and a great plot. The ending is so much more than I expected, which a surprise ending is always a treat.

I liked how it shows that the government employees have heart, some of them anyway, and that there is much more behind the scenes in government which gives this movie a lot of character. In my opinion this is a must see movie and you won’t be disappointed in it.

This is one of my favorite movies and I would have paid $12 to see it in the movie house but waited to see it on Netflix. It is definitely a movie to add to your collection. I thought that this movie would be one of the “guy” flix but it was a pleasant surprise that it was even appealing to us women.

I am truly glad to see Robert Redford back on the big screen and does a brilliant performance, as does Brad Pitt. I have no doubt that if you take a chance and watch this movie you will not be disappointed.

It is a fantastic movie and I am sure that you will love it as I did!.

As someone who is generally wary of espionage film, as I have trouble following the twists and turns, the composition of this film was most refreshing. The plot in a nutshell is so; Robert Redford is on his very last day as a CIA Agent before retirement.

He discovers that a former field agent of his, played by Brat Pitt, has been arrested during a prison break in China. Redford’s CIA superiors demand he explain Pitt’s actions and background. The rest of the story is then told in a series of flashbacks as Redford relates the first time he met Pitt in Vietnam, his subsequent recruitment and training in Berlin and the his work in Lebanon.

Redford’s performance is a masterpiece of experience and knowledge; he gives the audience almost no insights into his part’s character yet manages to get them to empathise with him the whole way. It really is a joy to see such a master at work.

Pitt pulls his weight and gives a good solid performance. The rest of the cast do their job well enough but there’s no mistaking the director decided to make this a comparison of heartthrobs from yesteryear and the present day.

The plot and dialogue are a delight as well, there are some really funny gags and the relationship that builds up between Redford and Pitt is a pleasure. So much so in fact you can forgive the film its numerous holes and inaccuracies.

My only one criticism is that there is no effort made to “age” either Redford or Pitt during the whole film, and when you consider the passage of time is at least 25 years this was maybe something the filmmakers should have considered.

I question also the way that Pitt manages to wear 90’s fashion in 70’s Berlin, but, hey, I suppose that’s cool for you!.

Redford and Pitt in the same movie. This spy movie is the greatest. DVD worked perfectly. Thats all.

When we had finished watching this movie, my wife turned to me and said “well, what did you think of it?” Upon hearing my reply, she said “Yeah, that pretty much sums it up” What did I say? “Well, it wasn’t crap, but it sure wasn’t good” This was your typical sugary sweet family movie with morals and cute kids, filled with some Jackie Chan action sequences.

Sadly, Jackie as slowed down a lot in recent years as it seems all of his stunts are done with wires (and I’m not surprised, the man must be pushing 60) The kids were annoying throughout and needed a slap (but the four year old was as cute as a button) Jackie mumbled his way through his dialogue and the bad guys had the most over the top horrifically bad “accents” that you could imagine.

Like I said, this movie was not terrible, but it was below average in every way possible. I’m exchanging it as soon as I can (and I only paid $7 for the Blu Ray).

The movie was pretty good with plenty of clean cut action that the whole family can enjoy. The buying experience was not, however. I was led to believe that the all the discs were included when that was not the case.

Great movie. Really enjoyed the action, graphics, and scenes in this movie. Would recommend.

Light Hearted! Groovy! 60s Avengers Meets 60s James Bond Meets Charlie’s Angels! Excellent Mindless Entertainment To Take The Mind Off Current Events!

Found the series refreshing and fun to watch. Hope they do decide to do a Season 3

Very good Australian mysteries. Still like Phryne more, maybe because of the era.

Character development is strong. If you don’t find yourself identifying with our team and wanting to reach through the screen to choke that one obnoxious Brithole, you must be on the verge of anemic expiration.

This is not a shoddy “Walking Dead” spin-off, although musical elements are a reminder that there is some production experience carry-over. Unfortunately, the episodes seem to be too few in number with too long a wait in-between seasons.

And, with no follow-up in blu-ray for season two, it signals that we’re near the end of the story. At least AMC did not abandon a great premise by offing it in mid-season or at the end of a one season cliffhanger, like ABC just loves to do to alienate viewers.

Thanks AMC for two great seasons and presently the beginning of the third. The current regime may hate this fare, but it is has a special place for the lost race of Americans.

Turn: Washington’s Spies tells the story of the Culper Ring, a group of spies that help turn the tide of the Revolutionary War in favor of the Americans. The show centers around Abraham Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living in Setauket, Long Island who bands together with a group a childhood friends to steal information about the British and get it to the Continental Army.

The story and characters are clever and engaging, the acting is good, and the setting really immerses you in the time. The picture and sound quality are top notch and there are some pretty good special feature.

The four minute documentary gives some pretty interesting details of the shows subject matter, and the deleted scenes are fun to watch. I highly recommend this show to anyone who likes history shows and movies or fans of spy stories in general.

Turn is certainly one of my favorite new series on television and I would advise anyone to get caught up with this show since season 2 has just begun. The production quality, scripts and acting are all first rate, creating a story line based on history that not only relives moments in history, but completely entertains the viewer while doing so.

Television series have become the best thing to watch these days and AMC is right up there with the best PAY TV networks such as HBO & STARZ. Check it out!.

If you are not a big fan of James Bond-style British spies (like me), you may just like Danger Man/Secret Agent. Patrick McGoohan plays John Drake, a different style of secret agent. He uses his brain and acting abilities more than violence, and while he deals with women in just about every episode, he doesn’t hop into bed with them just to make a scene interesting.

The McGoohan technique of rebuking a sexy woman’s advances is chuckle-provoking in that he is so darn sexy as he does it! In fact, it is actually rather touching when he actually does indeed bond with a female character, even if only a little bit.

When violence does appear, it is usually in the form of good old masculine fist-fights. You can tell that McGoohan was an amateur boxer while in school just by the way he moves. Biographers have stated that he took those fight scenes very seriously.

As for this DVD set, the earlier 30-minute episodes aren’t quite as taught as the later 60-minutes ones, but are very watchable, even if McGoohan’s American accent does slip at times. In the later series, he is back to being British (Irish?).

Some of the story lines, like those from South Africa, are slow and very dated, but for the most part the plots are good. In short, highly recommended unless you like lots of violence and sex. Personally, I prefer good acting, good directing, good scripts, and (yes, I’ll say it) Patrick McGoohan’s looks.

First and foremost: Season One, which was originally aired in 1960 on CBS as Danger Man IS NOT included! Only season two through four are. The packet, however, refer to season 2-4 as the 1-3 instead.

They’re apparently playing on the technical issue that it changed its name from Danger Man to Secret Agent. as to why. Kind of underhanded in many ways to justify not adding the original first season.

Nothing on the DVDs are in numerical order. Season 1, episode 1 “Yesterday’s Enemies” which aired May 15, 1965 (in truth s2), is not even on the first disk muchless listed on the first season. They have it instead on volume two on the second disk.

IF not having the the first original season on disk or not having each episode in numerical order means nothing to you, you will be perfectly happy with this box set. Otherwise, look else where!.

As of this writing, I am still watching the show. I am nearing the end of the first season which I have never seen before. A real good half hour episodes filled with thrilling excitement. I can see why the show was expanded to one hour, allowing more time for the plot to develop.

Many of these episodes I saw when I was in grammar school. Although I no longer remember them and have not seen them since, I do remember enjoying the show and I have always liked Patrick McGoohan ( Ice Station Zebra, The Silver Streak, Braveheart, Columbo)- a great actor/director.

Covert Affairs is a great Spy vs Spy show. One of the best! It has a really good cast of characters with great actors. The stories are really good as well. They are light hearted, but not light weight.

There is a good mix of suspense, action, drama and even a little romance sometimes. One of My Favorites! You won’t be disappointed!.

This is an action packed DVD set where CIA agent Annie Walker overcomes all odds to defeat America’s enemies at home and abroad. Very enjoyable series.

I started watching Covert Affairs in the 3rd season and enjoyed it by myself, the wife won’t watch it, no reason, she just didn’t think she would enjoy it. UNTIL. I got Season 1 and 2. She decided if she didn’t have to watch the commercials it was worth a look.

SHE LOVES IT and I enjoyed the first 2 seasons that I had missed. Love the foreign locations and all the actions. I anxiously await the release of Season 3 on DVD. Did I mention Annie is a size 0 and she is VERY HOT!! Shhhhhhhhhhhh don’t let the wife know!.

I’ve watched (own) most of Jackie Chan’s movies. Some are quite good and some are just OK. My children at home range from 8-13 years old. There are several Jackie Chan movies I would not share with them, but this one is excellent.

We watched it together last night and enjoyed it thoroughly. Lots of action, plenty of humor and a great message. Several of my children came by way of adoption and there is this great line in the movie, “Family isn’t about blood, it’s about who you love and who loves you.

” It was a very cool moment in the movie where Jackie is talking to his future step daughter who feels out of place, because her not so responsible father has left her with her step mother and half siblings to make it without a father.

Jackie is the next possible father in the children’s lives who seems to be a very dull, Clark Kent character. The movie gains momentum as Jackie transforms in one experience after another into his true persona as Superman and the children fall in love with their future father who clearly loves them enough to risk his life and sacrifice himself in their defense.

Funny, heartwarming, and action packed. it even ends happily ever after. What more could one ask of a family feature film?.

Our Family loves this movie. It is great entertainment without having to worry if somethin g inappropriate will be said or shown. My boys loved this movie so much they have been searching To buy it for a while.

I’m so glad I found it on EBay and bought it for my son’s birthday. He was thrilled.

This movie is truly, for the family, or simply kids. There are moments when I can see these children manners and re-actions, which reminds me of my children. This is a “SPY NEXT DOOR” IS A WONDERFUL MOVIE.

Take time to laugh and simply enjoy your day. ABOVE ALL WONDERFUL!!!.

I loved this series. I still do. Set in the eighties, there was no cell-phones, no internet, no instant communication. If you were in trouble, I had to drive to get to you and save you. Time was of the essence.

Old-time spy work! Loved it! Great actors! Great writing! I had seasons 1 – 4 on DVD already, but the box-set was about as much as seasons 5 & 6. So. now my brother in law gets 1 -4 as I told him about the series.

The show is amazing, but the box set packaging is the worst packaging I have ever, and I mean EVER experienced. Every disc is in one big plastic holder – which means they are all over the place in that holder – “floating” around, getting scratched, etc.

This series is excellent and is worthy of a far better packaging technique. If not for the ridiculous packaging, I would have given this series a 5 star. Sorry to say, but who ever decided on this packaging needs to be fired.

They have destroyed their ability to get a better overall rating on this product and will lessen their overall sales. If this series goes to Blu-Ray, make sure you demand to open it before you buy it.

I wish I had. Or just buy the separate seasons when they go on sale. Rob.

A riveting espionage series set in the Reagan years of the early 80’s. The sets are realistic, acting is superb, and the general plot lines intriguing, although as with most series, they occasionally stray outside the boundaries of credible realism.

The script seemingly does a good job painting a somewhat sympathetic viewpoint of the Soviet spies’ loyalties to their country and why they fight for it.

Great price on the entire series. This is a fantastic program with great acting and some great extras that come with dvds. The series itself is based on a trove of data released from the Russian archives on the spies they had working in the USA recently.

It is a bit over dramatic in some places and was set in the 1980s so as to bring in more Cold War drama but otherwise very real.

We liked this spy comedy because it’s headed up by one very funny lady (Kate McKinnon) and a steady side-kick (Mila Kunis) who holds her own rather well. This comedy succeeds as well as any male partner movie we’ve seen recently, but with less testosterone.

That will be a problem for some folks. The action sequences are every bit as good and connect well with the comedy. Comedy: Kate delivers, relentlessly. There are some stretches of dullness, but the movie is consistently funny, because she’s rarely not on screen.

Action: No let down here. Although it’s not a priority, it is used for comedic effect. Family night: Be careful here. I seem to recall some scenes that will create some cringe moments. The movie doesn’t forget what it’s supposed to deliver: Comedy and Action.

We liked it enough to own it, and we will re-watch it.

Saw The Spy Who Dumped Me in theaters and enjoyed it. This 4K + Blu-ray release is great and I’m glad I added it to my movie collection. The video quality is superb, and the audio is powerful, with crisp dialog, mixed in Dolby ATMOS.

Freaking awesome. Highly recommended, especially if you’re a fan of Mila Kunis and have a 4K tv along with a surround sound system.

The Spy Who Dumped Me was entertaining, but I could’ve done without the political puns that were very bias, one sided and annoying. I wish these actors would just act and stop getting political. Are you actors or Politicians, make up your mind.

People go to the movies to get away from everyday politics and to have to sit through a film to hear it, is just downright ridiculous. #Makemoviesgreatagain.

This version is a bit disappointing, though having some good moments, one being the MI6 Christmas party – did they really have one? The BBC version I found more consistently dark, menacing and suitable drab.

We also got a few clues as to the Spy’s motives, which were almost entirely lacking from this version, probaby because in the BBC version we have the meeting between Smiley and the Spy) not to spoil the ending for those who havent seen it).

The Spy makes clear that he hates the USA and its dominance over the UK in many areas of life. One can only assume that this would not go down well in Holywood, although it should come as no surprise that a Soviet agent was not a great fan of the US.

Odd. However, without the confession and attempt at self-justification, the scene falls rather flat. Gary Oldman plays it very downbeat. In fact he hardly ever says anything at all and looks grim. Not his best a fillm.

I have the standard DVD also . Picture quality varies as most blu – rays. Close ups on Smiley and Control riveting. One of the best tv series of all time , Superb acting / actors great story .

Faithful adaptation of novel. Brilliant acting. Engaging throughout.

Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy once again team-up for a hilarious spy/thriller comedy whose main focus is lampooning James Bond. McCarthy plays Susan Cooper, a CIA analyst who priority it is to keep her CIA operative, Bradly Fine (Jude Law), alive while he’s out in the field.

When an arms dealer, Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne), gets the upper-hand on Fine, it’s clear she has intel on the CIA. The only option is to send Cooper into the field, something she’s always wanted and feared at the same time.

McCarthy gives her usual bumbling, but charming performance that’s become her signature. Her character doesn’t quite grasp the nature of things, yet she’s never stupid, causing you to hate her. She’s very likable especially given the situation she’s in.

We do get some other great performances from Byrne as the central villain and Jason Statham in the role of an over-confident CIA agent that nearly steals the show from McCarthy. The blu-ray comes packed with special features, namely of which is the unrated, extended cut that runs nearly 10-minutes longer than the R-rated theatrical cut.

From there we get several deleted and alternate scenes, gag reels, making-of’s and a commentary. Overall, not a bad little package for a very funny film.

Didn’t realize this movie was rated R till it got to a certain scene, no coment and was ready to be over. Felt this was one of her funniest movie yet. Nice car chase but not great like the rest of the spy movies but fun to watch.

Her chemistry with Jason Statham was hilarious and one unexpected twist.

Most of the Melissa McCarthy movies after Bridesmaids have been rather disappointing. I did not even crack a smile watching Tammy so I had given up hope. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I first roared with laughter watching Spy.

Even better, the laughs just kept coming. I think the reason this movie worked so well was the casting. My favorite pairing was McCarthy with Miranda Hart. They were hysterical together. I did not even look to see who the director was until the credits rolled.

Once I saw it was Paul Feig, it all made sense. With the exception of one his comedies, I have enjoyed everything he has done.

The writing is so simplistic and so utterly predictable that it makes this book boring to read. Apparently this book was just churned out. I bought it to read over a four day trip and read it in one day.

No substance at all with the exception of some interesting historical references. Find something else to read. I love her books but this one was so bad!.

Steel outdid herself again. Full of suspense, romance and great writing.
