20 Best Solar Lights With On/Off Switch (2023 Updated)

I got these right before the holidays to help light up my walkway. They are super easy to put together and a snap to use. They went into the ground along the walkway easily. They are very bright but not in an overpowering way.

I got the twelve pack and only needed half for the walkway, so I added some by the side door and the garage. It also adds a nice sense of security to the outside of the house. They are very classic in design and can fit with any motif.

I really love these solar LED lights. I have them lining my sidewalk. They are really nice looking. They are well made and durable. They look expensive. They are easy to put together and install. They are silver and work great!! I let them get all powered up and the lighting on them is perfect!!.

We have had these for a little over a week now. We put them in full Sun along our walkway. They are lightweight and not super strong. The lights work well but I am not sure these will last through harsh weather conditions.

Would be great to have for a special occasion…and then taken down.

These are the coolest outdoor solar lights I’ve ever seen. To be specific they are the Solar Power Pathway Lights in Black with 2 Modes 21 Lumen LED Landscape Path Lights with Remote Control. They come in a set of 4 and are so versatile with two different lighting modes to suit your moods.

They have a regular bright white light mode which is really nice and illuminates its surroundings well. Then you can put them into the “flame” mode where they flicker like a candle flame, and they create such a dramatic ambiance.

We put ours out on our patio table under our umbrella at night in the flickering flame mode and it’s just the coolest thing. They can be set on the deck railings or on tabletops or you can use the stakes that come with them to put them out in your yard if you like.

I’m pretty much keeping them up on the deck for now because that’s where we are using them constantly. They have a switch to make them flame, regular LED and turn them off. Oh, and bonus, they come with a remote control so you can change them all at once and don’t have to get up to change each one individually.

How cool is that? Love, love, love these!.

There are a great number of uses for these solar lights, I will be mainly using them to illuminate my pathway in front of my home. I have also used these at an outdoor event with the flame mode and they really set a nice ambient mood, they were lovely.

I’m also planning on using these solar lights for camping trips. They are bright and offer a good source of illumination to meet my needs. The remote control adds a ton of convenience. The lights needed to be charged under direct sunlight before using them for the first time.

You have the option to turn the lights off when they are not in use by the switch fixated on the lights or by using the remote. It is recommended in the instructions that the lights not be used during the cold winter months with freezing temperatures.

The instruction guide is resourceful with easy to follow instructions. The two functions for white light or flame are nice, and the flame setting is dimmer than the white setting, so it gives you lighting options to choose from.

We live in an area that is barely lit. So our backyard is very dark at night. We received these and I couldn’t be happier with them. Super sturdy/not flimsy like other brands we’ve purchased in the past.

These are built to last. We keep it on the “flame” at night and it’s my favorite. Seriously, really pretty and realistic. They’re large too – not tiny and they light the area very well on both settings.

I love that they automatically turn on in the evening and shut off when the sun hits them. Get these now! I plan to buy a couple more sets.

I really liked the lantern-style of these solar outdoor lights, and it was a lovely accent to light up the pathway to my front door. There are 8 lights in the pack, which I made work, but ideally, I would have preferred 10 or even 12.

This is because the size of each light is a bit smaller than I would have liked as well. I think it would have made more of a statement had each piece been larger. The lights charge well and isn’t too bright, but does a good job illuminating the path.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product and would gladly recommend!.

I’ve had these lights for about a month now and I love them! They were super easy to install, just stick them right in the ground. The light that comes from them is a nice color and isn’t obnoxiously bright but bright enough to provide ample lighting for our walkway and patio area.

The design is pretty as well. Overall I really really love these lights and would recommend them to anyone. In fact, I have already been asked where to get them from a few friends. Buy these you won’t be disappointed!.

These lights added an attractive look to our landscaping. The lights themselves were simple to install. The lights are not super bright but I didn’t want something that was going to light up the yard.

They create a nice subtle illumination along a planted garden bed in the front of the house. I would definitely consider purchasing more of these for future garden projects.

a good price for the 12 pack. so far remain charged from dusk until dawn. give off enough light to see sidewalk without lighting up whole yard. Too soon to rate durability, time will tell.

They give off a soft light color, very nice around the pool. I was surprised that the lights lasted a good 8 hours. Will order more for front of house. Mike B

They work. I am excited. Many solar lights don’t work. These work and they cast a cool glow in my backyard. All of them work.

Just the right amount of light! The spacing when combined with the lumens produces a perfect light that is not overbearing. A big bonus for us. the plug and play mini solar w/ internal battery. This standard two prong (IP44) plug and play solar feature allows the string lights to be used with an alternate standard house plug (making certain the specs/voltage are compatible, ours came with fairy lights).

and similarly the mini solar setup can be used with other products (again making certain the specs/voltage are compatible). Just an overall great product! So nice to have a lighted outdoor area without an electrical bill and one where the lights turn on and off without my thinking.

Also provides decent and attractive lighting for dark areas where night time security may be an issue.

This is a great product. I’ve tried similar things straight off of amazon that are half the price, but about 10% as good as these. SO sturdy. Like all Brightech products, this came with beautiful bulbs.

If you’re a noob at string lights like I was, if your project is long-term or semi-permanent DEFINITELY get a string light hanging kit rom amazon. But for a temporary one-night setting, you may be able to improvise with the surrounding environs to make something neat for a night (though not very stable).

DEFINITELY hang the light strand before screwing in the bulbs. Common knowledge for people who have ever worked with these things, but I remember it being new to me several XMases ago and some random comment on some old thread of xmas lights has saved me hours of work and broken bulbs since.

My only critique is that Brightech should put giant stickers on this product saying “GET A STRING LIGHT HANGING KIT!” and “DON’T PLUG IN THE BULBS UNTIL YOU’RE DONE!” I also got a string light dimming kit off of Amazon.

I strongly recommend this, as even though brightech’s AWESOME bulbs are only 2 watts (the lowest I’ve seen available for this size), when there’s 15 of them (or 30 in my case, or more in yours), they’re still VERY bright.

My last piece of advice is this: I was worried about only 15 bulbs and 48 feet. “There’s no way that could be enough lights!” I was stupid and wrong. It’s a very good amount of light. The perfect spacing between bulbs or else they’d look like Christmas lights.

This is a good product. Buy it if you want 50 feet of string lights that will need to be outdoors all the time. VERY sturdy.

I bought these less than a year ago, within six months more than half of the bulbs burned out. I use them nightly to take the dogs out back, but they only get a few minutes of nightly use. The bulbs shouldn’t burn out that quickly.

Also, the brass cylinders aren’t attached to the strands so they fall off as you’re trying to replace the bulbs making this a real pain. Additionally, the brass cylinders are already showing lots of rust spots.

For the $140 the two strands cost these should last a lot longer than they do.

This is the best! I’ve ordered other solar powered motion sensor lights and this one is brighter than any I have. The motion sensor had a great range. Very happy with this purchase!

Not had these lights very long but we are pleased they are bright and the beam gives a good coverage nice sturdy construction so we are hoping they will last the winter cant say what would happen months on, weather and lack of day light! But impressed so far.

I bought 8 of this to have em around the house , very poor lighting but this is not the main problem , unless you have in a straight spot to the sun all day otherwise you don’t get any lighting in the night time.

These are the lights I’ve been trying to find for a long time. All the ones at lLowes and Harbor Freight are under 50 lumens-yours have a 200 lumens setting, nice and bright. Admittedly, I was unfamiliar with your brand prior to my purchase.

Yours are well made, waterproof and provide exactly the amount of light I want. No one can go wrong purchasing these lights.

You will be very happy with this product as long as you have realistic expectations of using solar powered items, which obviously require sunlight for power. I am loving the way they spotlight our trees and outlying areas of the yard where we have no electricity.

Lights work well…very bright even on low setting, long lasting thru the night to early morning.

The Square Disk Path Lights Deluxe by Bell + Howell have a good look and style going for them on the face of it. They are very light in weight. One can chose to hang them on a nail/post or use a spike (included) to stand them up at a location of your choice.

Usage is pretty simple and straightforward. As the instructions indicate, they need to be in full sunlight for atleast 8 hours before you can use them. About a day or two in sun should get it ready. There is a small sliding switch on the back to turn them on.

Once charged, the lights will autmatically turn off during the day and come on during the night without any action needed. Do not expect the lights to be strong as a flood light or an outdoor 60W bulb type.

They are adequate to define boundaries where they are installed. IMO, they can be installed for decorative purpose or for defining pathway, fence, etc. boundaries. Do not expect them to light up the backyard or pathways by themselves alone.

You will be disappointed if that is your expectation. The design is nice that the product will fit in with whatever surroundings you want to install in. They will fit in just fine and now stand out or feel out of place.

While the finish looks good, I am not sure about its durability in Texas summer heat and sprinkler hitting it regularly. They may very well handle it fine but you need to keep that in mind. The one great thing I like about it is that you can replace the rechargeable NiMH batteries if the installed one lose their ability to hold charge.

This technically should give the product unlimited life as long as the rechargeable batteries are replaced. Nice design, easy to install, location flexibility, option to replace rechargeable batteries – all of this makes for a product that you can put to good use.

These are really nice solar lights. I must admit my first time using solar lights. So that being said I’m extremely pleased. They are very easy to install with easy instructions. I do really like the effect that the LED lights give off.

They’re really quite bright. Quality is good as size is perfect for my landscape. Overall I’m very happy.

Got these Bell + Howell 8 LED Square Disk Lights to illuminate the path to my garage as it very is dark at night. These are very lightweight so easy to hang from the fence near my garage with a single screw.

They charged very well the first day I got them, even though it was a slightly cloudy day. The LED light output is really strong which is great and last about 6-8 hours depending on the charge.

Ordered a box of 12, heavy cast metal, feels solidly built. All worked well right out of the box. Lights are bright. Comes with screws and anchors. No complaints at all. We’ll get them installed and see how they do over the long haul.

2nd purchase. I bought these 3 years ago and 3 of the 4 are still working, I would say that is pretty good! :-). I like them. easy to move when the grass is cut, long lasting and unobtrusive on the eyes during the day light hours.

They do need a couple of hours of good sunlight but that is true of all this kind of solar light. I am perfectly happy with them, feel they are well worth the money and hope I get as much use out of this new purchase as I did my older ones (of which 3 are still going strong).

The amount of light that these spot gives is enough for my needs. They are easy to setup and no tools are required. The construction of the units are better than most and the price was good as well. They are now in use and last longer after it charge than the manufacturer states.

Overall, they are what they state they can do and would recommend them.

I actually bought these because we recently bought chickens. We learned that they need at least 16 hrs a day to lay eggs. Well the high is very bright but nice and the low is perfect for what we needed.

We’ve had out lights about 2 wks and YAY, today one of our girls left us an egg this morning. We think the lights did the trick. Very satisified.

The online description says it’s for outdoor use, but once we got it out of the box we discovered that it shouldn’t be exposed to any weather so it’s not good for any place other than a solid covered patio.

Not good for a fabric topped gazebo where it might get wet. Great source of light, but bummed that we can’t leave it up full time.

Not enough light. 3 large LED not enough 10 large LED would be far better. Tired of ordering solar lights that advertise big results. This light does not put out anymore light than a bulb w/ 10 small LED.

The remote is good feature and works well Also, 2 foot hanging chain not enough my barn has 10 ft ceiling so this would only illuminate upper storage area.

I bought 2. One for the gazebo and one for the storage shed. The Lighting is great for the gazebo but not bright enough for an outdoor storage building 10×16. Effortless to install. The power cord is too short imo.

Should be a few feet longer. Great light for the right application.

Very bright light so far I have used many models, The batteries hold charge for longer. No cables to run, easy to install. Free light every night. The sensor is also very sensitive even my neighbor’s cat runs in backyard the light turns on!.

This solar light is 1st class. Easy to install and with the added ability to tilt and rotate all 3 lights, it does a perfect job of illuminating my back garden. Energy efficient and without the worry of buying batteries, which makes it environmentally safe.

Bought this lamp 11 days ago. Installed it and had it charged for 3 days. Light works, be it On or Auto. However, the remote does not work. Changed the battery twice already with newer ones and it still does not work.

Tried it on settings both the ON and Auto settings. Even stood up on the table to point it directly at the receiver. remote still does not turn it off when set to ON; nor does the remote turn it on when set to AUTO.

Will gladly add an two extra star if I can get the remote working. Thanks.

Nice light. It will be used in a shop. Remote controls are junk. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. No rhyme, or reason. We will see how long the lights last. Thank you, China.

Lasted 3 weeks at very minimal use. 2 of 4 leds burned out. I called the manufacturers service department and was told this model has a problem with the led diodes. He said I could ship it to them at my own expense or return it for free to Home Depot (DUH).

Why do they sell this junk? Charge $20. 00 more and use quality parts.

Super Bright, almost offensively so be mindful where you place these relative to other houses or the street. Not as durable as the smart bulb lights but well see how these hold up over the years.

Super cute and well made. Gave 4 stars because the light when illuminated is not very bright at all. Not what I was expecting. But will likely keep mostly because I don’t want to deal with repackaging.

I had purchased one last year and loved it. So when the price was lowered, I bought 2 more. They are so cute and stay lit till morning. Great item.

While I love all Desert Steel items. I have many this is not my favorite. I truly wanted it and expected it to be brighter. Barely visible from front window which is about 5’ away. Would I buy again yes because it’s beautiful in the yard.

I can’t complain. I placed this light on a fence post in my parking area behind my house. Every night I see that it provides a constant dim light, and when I go to my car, the motion sensor kicks in and brightens the area.

I installed it a couple of months ago and so far, so good. I can’t speak for it’s longevity, but I can say that it is doing what it’s supposed to do. My only minor criticism would be that it hangs on a screw, and therefore easy to remove.

I would have preferred the back to screw into the post so someone can’t walk off with it.

I got 4 of them, all worked out of the box, the concept is great, light is sufficient, however. give them few weeks outdoors and the flows will surface. All 4 are dead and no, is not the battery. I opened a couple but there is no sign of water inside that could have damaged the rather simplistic circuit.

It is just a poorly manufactured product with really low components. Considering the design, components, quality and country of manufacture, this item should cost no more then ten bucks, it that much.

I am positive these would last longer indoors, but that’s not what most people buy them for. Stay away!.

I bought 6 of these to go on the top side of each fence post that faces the front of my yard/ditch area. I liked the reviews that said they were brighter than other solar light’s. So I bought them and have to agree, they are quite bright for a minute or so, when the sensor detects motion, then they go dim again just as the instructions said.

I like that feature because I do not want them shining bright all night, it may upset my sensitive neighbours. I also like the fact the sensor detects movement from about 20 feet away. I was surprised at the long distance, but I like that unexpected feature.

I like them so much, I just ordered 4 more!!.

This light is AMAZING!! I have bought 2 for myself and 3 for others. It gets SUPER BRIGHT! HOWEVER, the PRICING is RIDICULOUS. My first one was $24. 99 last year, then $29, now it is $52???!!! YOU CAN GET THE SAME EXACT LIGHT ON HOME DEPOT FOR $32.

56. SAME MODEL NUMBER. Order it there instead until the seller on Walmart comes down in pricing. IT’s a fantastic light though. Gets super bright. I have had other outdoor solar lights that have totally sucked.

They come on just fine, but its more of a dim light at best. If you are looking for something that is actually bright enough to see anything and is also for security, this is the light for you. It also has different settings that have all worked just fine for me.

I am suspicious about the reviews posted on this item. The solar security light that I received is a cheap product. The sensor broke on the first day that I installed the solar light. You have to plug the solar panel into the light daily and then unplug it at night in order for it to work.

I got tired of going up and down the ladder every day to plug and unplug the solar panel so I gave it to my grandchildren to place inside their tree house for light. I do not recommend buying this item.

We love this motion sensing light. It was a great solution for the dark corner of our yard by the gate. Getting an electrician to come wire up a light was going to be expensive. All it takes to install the screws included.

It is heavier duty than expected and the panel is big. Another thing that surprised me was how easy the set-up was. Two switches. No confusing knobs and adjustments.

I purchased 2 lights. I really like them as they are easy to install and are very bright, especially for a solar light which typically isn’t as bright. I would definitely buy more of these in future.

However, both of the lights seemed to be slightly used (even though I purchased ‘new’ items) as they had scratches around the frame as if someone used them or tried to install them. Other than good, very good lights.
