20 Best Socks Made In Usa (2023 Updated)

I teach automotive at a college so business casual dress and on concrete all day sometimes hot sometimes cold. I’ve always had a problem with my feet sweating and in the summer they would be soaked in the winter my feet would sweat believe it or not and then they would be freezing.

I was getting socks twice a year from JCPenny and the like because they would never last and would start to wear through being on my feet all day takes it’s toll on socks. So in my searching I found out wool is much better and cotton socks are inferior but cheaper hence every sock you buy is cotton.

I came across boardroom socks with merino wool (preferred type of wool). I bought 6 pairs one for each day of the week and one extra. This is the first review I’m leaving about these socks and after 6 years the elastic on a few of them is just starting to stretch a little to where they fall down occasionally but the sock itself is still perfect no holes and in good shape.

I’m extremely impressed with the durability and will be ordering more. As for comfort I found the socks to wick moisture away like nothing I’ve ever seen for my sweaty feet. My feet stay dry during the summer and no longer get cold like they used to in winter.

I can’t say enough about the quality and made in the USA is a huge plus, these are the only socks I would even consider while wearing dress shoes.

I have a drawer full of socks I hate to wear. Department store socks, gift socks, socks with holes, socks that don’t stay on, or stay up, and the worst, socks that slide down and bunch in my shoes. Thus my search for a better sock.

After reading about many brands of socks, I liked what I read about Boardroom. They meet the quality versus price midpoint I was looking for. They arrived ridiculously quickly, and from the first wear, they stay up and are comfortable.

I thought they were a little thin at first, but they feel great, and I’m very happy with them. This was a test order, as I wasn’t sure if I should get the merino wool, but I love them. This weekend, I’m donating all of the socks I hate that still can be worn by someone in need, and I will slowly fill my drawer with blue, black, and gray Boardroom socks in OTC length merino wool.

The socks were reasonably priced and arrived quickly. However of the two pairs of socks I ordered one pair was picked from the wrong bin at their Warehouse and was incorrect. I contacted boardroom socks the day I received them and they quickly sent me out a replacement pair.

Great customer service. I wear a size 8 1/2 shoe … I will say that the socks are good fit in the foot, ankle and lower leg but are tight in the calfs for me personally and leave indentations at top of my leg above the calf (maximum midcalf circumference is 15 inches, circumference at the top of the leg below the knee 14 inches).

I contacted them asking about the possibility of customization. They responded quickly…unfortunately they don’t customize their socks. But they did say that they have one style that is wider in the calf but also larger in the foot.

So that doesn’t really work for me.

These are without a doubt the best socks I’ve ever worn. It’s between 98 and 110 degrees in Texas every day right now and these Merino Wool socks keep my feet cooler and dryer than any sock I’ve ever worn.

After wearing these socks for three days I ordered more and threw away everything else in my sock drawer away. I will never ware anything else. I can’t wait for winter to come so I can try them out in the cold.

This is a very attractive hat, for this style. I have never been a foreign legion-style hat fan but this one for a woman is nice. Feminine with good coverage. The flap in the back is actually a scarf style.

I’m considering buying another color if they have it available.

I ordered these for my wife who wears about a size five shoe. I dont see.a size on them anywhere, but they are very large. I kept them because they fit me fairly well. I wear a size eleven shoe!

I usually but Darn Tough socks because I do my very best to buy American. That’s one of the reason I like LL Bean. They have a good assortment of American made items. These socks came in a plastic bag with what I’m guessing was Chinese writing printed on the bag.

Obviously they aren’t American made. They are also kind of scratchy. I like the look, but I don’t like the feel. Also, I with LL Bean, and all websites really, would do a better job putting Country or Origin in the description.

XL are supposed to be 12. 5-14. I wear a solid 12 with not overly large ankles and these were very tight and barely made it 1/4 of the way to my calf muscle. Farm to Feet are not the only company that has this problem.

Not sure why no one can make socks for large people. They are otherwise cool looking socks that seem well made. Oh well! Order at least one size up and if you wear larger than 11 I’d say save your time/money and look elsewhere.

A sales person in store said these were really good socks and were on par with Darn Tough or Smartwool’s – and they were selling a lot of them. So I gave them a try and they are nowhere near the quality of the other two brands.

They just don’t have the same feel that I have come accustomed to with the other brands and specifically the Smartwool Larimer which are about 85% wool.

It is very cold now in California (well for California) and I got these in store a few days ago. They are very soft but are not warm enough. I had plans to wear them with my boots but I also noticed that they move around as I wear them so I think in a boot they might slide down or bunch and become uncomfortable.

They also snag easily… just removing the tag with scissors caused the sock to untangle a bit. Yeas I understand that the fabric is delicate but I’m just sharing my experience and information. I do like that they are not tight and the color is nice.

A bit pricey for socks.

These are definitely more on the cozy/lounge type socks rather than the walking/hiking type. They are a very soft to the touch material like that « buttery » feel which are so very nice for lounging.

However, they catch on things very easily, and the threads will pull. It’s because of this I question how long they will hold up… Even parts of the packaging seem to have left permanent holes. All the more reason to only use them for the lounging.

Nice with slippers too since they are thin so your feet are not too hot.

The fleece is definitely warm and soft inside, which makes for snuggly feet, but I feel these are so fluffy that I would be uncomfortable walking or hiking around in them. I took off a star because I don’t like the height (mid-calf) and the band is thin, tight, and uncomfortable at that location.

I would prefer a wider band. I am keeping them to wear around the house more like slippers and will be pushing the band down toward my ankle so they aren’t constricting on calves.

These used to be my favorite socks for the past 2 years so I bought some more, but they redesigned them and ruined them. I started buying smartwool socks because I have sweaty and stinky feet and wool is supposed to help with that.

For the past 2 years they have worked wonders and I raved about them. They were so good I replaced all my socks with smartwool (probably have 20 or so pair in assorted styles). I’d wear these ones to hike and workout and my feet would smell fine and remain relatively dry.

I would be ok wearing the old pair 2 days in a row even. Now I put the new pairs on and my feet STINK in less than an hour from just walking around and my feet feel damper in these than my older pairs.

I’ve worn these a handful of times now and threads are already pulling out. Also the stripes around the calf aren’t as solid of black, there is white patchiness in them. I’m quite disappointed in what they did to these and makes me hesitant to buy any other pairs.

It just feels like they are cutting corners to save money. They are still soft and comfortable, just not the same quality they used to be.

I purchased these online. Had I felt these socks in a store, I would not have bought them. Despite the high percentage of merino wool, these socks feel cheap & synthetic. The knit is loose, and there is NO cushioning, which is mentioned as a feature of these socks on both the sock brand’s website & MEC’s website.

In fact, the sole of the sock is thinner than the upper part. They are NOT warm due to the loose weave. My toes are still cold despite wearing these socks inside my well-known brand-name mini sheepskin boots which I use as slippers.

After less than 24 hours of wear, including sleeping with them, fine wisps of fibers are emanating from the sock yarn, creating pills themselves, or pills with other fibers the socks have contacted. Smartwool, you can do better.

Consumers, do not buy these socks.

I just ordered these socks from the Canadian Smartwool website (Canadian website doesn’t have a review feature so I’m posting here) and they arrived with holes in each sock. The holes are large enough to fit two fingers through and are in different places.

I cannot tell if the holes are due to fragile yarn or due to errors during the knitting/weaving process. I am extremely disappointed because I didn’t even get to wear them once. That is unacceptable for this price point.

I exclusively wear smartwool PhD socks and have loved them for years. I thought I would try this design for cozy home wear but unfortunately the quality deserves zero stars.

Echoing other reviews regarding sizing. I’m a size 11 and ordered XL. The socks are so tight across the top of my foot they actually pinch. Personally, I don’t believe they simply “run small,” but are defective in their design or materials.

The fit and overall lack of stretch is very unusual. Ordered six pairs based on good reviews – all headed for the trash heap.

I bought my husband three pairs of these for Christmas, and on Christmas day they fit perfectly. Now, two months later, they have shrunk so badly he can’t even get them on! I wash exclusively in cold water, dry on low setting.

My husband has Parkinson’s, and it is difficult for him to dress anyway, & now these socks are impossible for him to get on. Huge disappointment.

Purchased three pairs as a Christmas present for my husband, who is always complaining that he can’t find quality socks that provide comfortable cushioning while standing up to the rigors and demands of country life.

While he was reluctant at first about the wool blend – he has always preferred 100% cotton – he was raving about them within hours of putting them on. He especially loved the fit, and how they provided cushioning in all the right places in his walking shoes.

These socks are so well made and very cushioned. I love the ribbing in middle of the sock and the toe and heel reinforcement. I have foot issues after a bunion surgery and they make all the difference in my foot comfort with my orthotics and sneakers.

Also they keep my feet warm in the cold winters here on Long Island. Please never stop making them. I am also proud to support American made products. I look to always support our people and country by buying AMERICAN MADE!!! Why support any other country!!! Love the flag on the socks too!.

I like to wait in reviews until washing the item. Sometimes it just doesn’t hold up. In this case, the gray part at the toe did pile up a little bit, but the softness did not go away. I’ve had too many socks over the years that get like a potato sack after a couple washes.

These socks are soft out of the package. They stay soft after washing. They stay up throughout the day even under heavy outside working conditions. The arch area has a tighter weave that I’m assuming is for additional support.

It stayed in shape even after washes. The flag on the sole indicates made in America which is a nice touch. I would definitely switch to these if you are sick of the same old scratchy cheap tube socks.

The Men’s crew socks, both black and white, L (size 7-12) are way too tight for my size 10 4-E feet. Length is fine, but width is too narrow, specially after a couple wash cycles. The upper part (calf) is OK, not too tight, but the foot section is so tight that I can not use them as they are very difficult to put on.

I laid this side by side to another manufacturer and they were significantly shorter and narrower (and there’s was a Medium size for 8 1/2 – 11/12 men’s shoe size. Unfortunately I’ve worn them for a few wash cycles so I can not return them.

The quality and look is great, just a sizing issue.

I purchased one pair a few years ago. Throughout my life I’ve always struggled with wool socks irritating my feet. I was blown away with how comfortable these socks felt on my feet and how well they kept my feet warm.

I sense purchased about eight more pairs and love this product.

Tried them for the first time last Pa Buck Season. Kept my feet warm and comfortable. I have extreme difficulty in keeping my feet warm and after years of different socks, boots, warmers and etc, I finally found a pair of socks that keep my feet warm, dry and comfortable without bulk.

I have 10 pair of these instinct socks. They are very comfortable and warm. I wore them on a 2 week Moose hunting trip in BC Canada and they performed as advertised. It’s been a cold winter here in Washington State and I’ve been wearing them regularly for work.

I have a desk job so they weren’t abused in daily wear. After 4 months 4 of the 5 pair have developed holes in them and the 5th is getting thin. If you plan on situational use I would recommend them, but if you plan on regular wear these are not the socks for you.

No way these socks are for men. I ordered them for my husband who is not big at all (5 9 and about 175 lbs). Socks wouldnt stretch over his legs. They barely fit me! (53 135). The dimensions are correct but they dont fit like tube socks should fit.

If you want a womens crew sock, then these are for you. If you want a mens tube sock, dont waste your money.

I bought these for my uncle who works in Chico, CA, and he is unloading cargo for JoAnn’s Fabrics. He needs comfort and warmth being winter, and it was a convenient way to add to his possessions as he and his wife are two of thousands that lost everything they didn’t have with them in the Camp Fire of Paradise, CA.

The socks are acceptable quality and fairly priced. However, because they’re called tube socks, I expected the socks to come up past my calves to my knees, but unfortunately they only come up to about mid-calf, and for me are not as comfortable as knee-high socks.

These socks are touted as “non binding”, “soft” and “comfortable”. WELL. They are a bit tight around my “skinny-normal” calves; they are certainly not soft and only reasonably comfortable. That said, I just ordered another pair.

Why? Well, my experience in trying to buy soft, comfortable, non-binding around the calf, wool socks is that I can’t find anybody that makes them like that. Mostly, the problem is that they are so narrow that they are impossible to get on, and then they strangle your calf.

THESE socks, are not perfect but much better in these areas mentioned, hence the second pair. In short, after much looking over time, these are the best (wool) socks I have come up with. The very best COTTON socks are VCS’s “diabetic” dress socks.

They are really great and I am not diabetic. In fact I don’t even see why they call them that. So, again, these wool socks in question are “pretty good”. Recommend you check them out.

My husband has developed edema in his feet in recent years and all his socks had become uncomfortably tight and restricting, because his feet are now larger due to the fluid accumulation. So we set out to purchase various brands of socks and knee highs, but none met all his needs until we came across these “Goldilocks” socks, because they meet his needs 100%.

He wears size 10 1/2 EEE shoes and the Extra Large socks are a perfect fit for him, after laundering. The top of the socks is truly non binding and yet the socks stay up all day. Great none itching Merino wool, great color and great design.

My husband finds these socks very comfortable. We are very pleased with this purchase and will soon order more.

I purchased several different brands of wool socks in preparation for winter up here in the north. Most of the brands labeled “wool socks” are only 5% wool, THESE socks are actually 85%! They are comfortable and the small size fits my women’s 9.

5 foot. Perfect mid weight sock, wish I could find for heavy weight! Now that I know these are the real deal I’m going to order a whole bunch more for myself and friends. They even come in a very nice box perfect for wrapping as a gift.

Totally brilliant. Merino Wool is by far the best socks for long distance hikers. These are well padded, a nice height and well constructed. Have put about 35 miles on them so far just to test them out for an upcoming expedition.

Getting more of them before leaving!.

Fit great, spandex makes them stretch good, but not tight. Keep feet cozy and have great cushion for hiking. Will buy more.

I wanted to love these socks because they have a great pattern and feel very soft. However, even though the small size says that it will fit Women’s size 6-9, they were so difficult to get on my size 8.

5-9 foot. I felt like I was going to damage them. I would order up if you are on the high end of sizing.

you know, you have to be a lawyer, or investigate every single word that is used in an advertisement to determine that wool-blend and regenerated are just terms to sell a product that is only 30% wool and the rest not.

so poo poo on you Sierra. I will wear them, I don’t want my money back, but it’s just kind of disgusting that we have come to this level. I guess we are that stupid, and you know it, ah well. very pretty socks and im sure they will last the winter.

warm and soft so far.

I researched socks and sock material primarily for the winter before making this purchase. My research showed that things like rayon, nylon, etc are very thin. My research also showed that acrylic mimics wool without the price tag and/or itchiness of some wools.

I know I cannot to this day wear angora without scratching to death. As a kid my mother with good intentions to keep my warm kept buying it for me. I have been buying acrylic socks for years and have found last well for several seasons.

Love these socks! I live in black knee socks. it’s just what I do. Especially in winter. I have MS and the nerve endings in my feet are especially sensitive. I’ve thrown so many socks out because they are either too uncomfortable, too thick to fit int my shoes or too thin and my feet are cold.

Wool makes me itch, sometimes the toe seams are painful. Socks I’ve had often don’t launder well or shrink in length. These socks are ideal! And the price for the 3 pack was great. Thank you for this simple comfort!.

I first purchased the Day Hiker Crew and it has been the best sock in this weight I have ever owned … I wore them daily during the winter and they are very comfortable and extremely durable. I purchased these, the Mountain Heritage Full Cushion Micro Wt for a summer work and activity socks … and WOW, they are great! I’m an old man with a wide foot and have had several foot surgeries.

I have tried numerous wool socks … wool is comfortable and durable. These are by far the best wool sock I have ever owned and I have tried all of the name brands I know of including SWool, Cabe…, Colum…, Bomb…, as well as all the hunting / outdoor and athletic name brand socks.

In short, I love them. Note: I have a short wide foot and ordered a Large … it fits snug when first put on but feels good all day. … ADDITIONALLY it may be worth noting, I always wash my wool socks on either warm or cold settings and always air dry and never put them in the dryer.

Truthfully I am a natural fiber nut. I worked in the textile business all of my career, most of it in the cashmere business and came to appreciate all natural fibers. Wear synthetic things is like wear plastic bags for me.

Of course I love cashmere but I spent a lot of time with wool, silk cotton and other beautiful natural fibers. As much as the plastic/synthetic fibers try to imitate them, nothing comes close to natural fibers.

Before my retirement I wore mostly wool dress socks or cotton socks. After I retired last year and with Covid, I began to play golf virtually every day and cotton and wool dress socks just didn’t work.

My wife acted on my complaining and bought me a bunch of Bomba wool socks and my near 7 day a week 4 + mile walk on the golf course wore them out pretty quickly. Next I tried Smartwool. They performed about the same as the Bombas but they too sprouted holes within the first couple of months of wear.

Then I tired Minus 33 Bought them in February and here on August 25, no holes in the heals or toes or any sign of significant wear & tear. They’re comfortable, easy to take care of and durable. I’m now a Minus 33 devotee!!.

I have owned many wool socks from many different companies, and I would easily say these are my favorites. Their fit is delightfully snug without being tight, their very high quality, they are very breathable, they are warm without being stifling – even in the warm weather, and in my case they are the perfect height for the boots I wear.

The only thing I cannot yet speak of is their longevity. I’ve had mine for three months now and they’ve retained their shape and integrity exceptionally well. I would highly recommend them, and although I already own half a dozen pair, I will be buying more.

If this was the only sock I owned, I would be happy and content.

I’ve been looking for this exact, perfect sock for years, I kid you not! These are warm, just the right thickness, and the perfect height slouched over leggings, but not too think to fit up inside my jeans.

They’re not so thick that your shoes won’t fit, but my feet are always cold in winter and these socks take care of that without sweating. I’m buying more just to put away for when I wear these out. Love them! ❤.

Not size large for adults as these were perhaps for children. Not true to size, then you are charging me nine dollars to return them. Big mistake and I will not order from this site ever again. How long before I get my refund???.

Just went skateboarding in them, they didn’t slip at all inside my shoe and provided protection against my shins. Wish they came in a value pack!

I have had these socks for about a week now and and I don’t know what to think of them. I’m leaning to not recommending them 1st of all the good. I bought the lightweight socks and they are very thick.

They appear like they will hold up quite a long time My shoe size is in 11 and a 1/2 so I purchased the large size. They are really not tall enough to Completely cover your leg in a cowboy boot style slip on.

When I 1st put them on the heel is exactly where the heel should be. After wearing them for about a 1/2 hour I have to pull them up. After they have been on my foot a while the the heel is now onto my upper ankle lower calf area.

Part of the reason I purchased these was to stop Is the sock from sliding into my boot. This appears to be a very expensive Attempt at overcoming a problem With no good solution. I am going to give these socks a couple months to see if they shrink and become more adjusted to my feet If the problem does not fix itself I’m going back to big Box store style socks For a few dollars a package and I will just have to get used to buying them every 6 months or so.

These socks looked promising but they are the worst socks i’ve ever worn. I tried to stay away from my favorite socks which are nike. These socks are way to thick which is partially my fault for buying the mid weight socks.

I figured mid weight meant a little thicker than normal socks. These socks feel like pillows on your feet they fill your boots completely. They are comfortable to wear indoors with no shoes or boots on don’t get me wrong.

As soon as you put a shoe or boot on your feet are like Niagara falls. They also fit terribly. They have no support so your feet just move around in the sock and fall off so easily. If your taking a tight boot off your sock is going with it.

Loose fitting, no moisture wicking, no support, to thick, are the reason I am sticking to my nike socks because they do all those things well.

I have big feet – size 15. 5. It is tough to find socks that fit, and they usually are of horrible quality when I do. I have spent my entire adult life trying to find a good pair of socks. Then one day, I wandered into Duluth because my daughter suggested I try their socks.

She is an avid hiker, so she has some credibility regarding socks. I tried on a pair of Coolerino socks, and my world instantly changed. The socks are lightweight but well cushioned without being bulky.

The best part is that they fit my foot!!! I no longer have to walk around with the heel sitting in my arch. I immediately bought a few pairs and have worn them non-stop ever since. I can not get over the quality.

These things are seemingly indestructible. If you are looking for a fantastic pair of socks, do yourself a favor and pick up some of these.

Another high-quality product from American Giant. I phased out all my other socks and replaced them with these. They do not tear at the toe like every other sock. After years of wear, I repair the heel, as it eventually wears out from rubbing against the shoe.

But these socks NEVER lose their elasticity. I am extremely fond of these high-quality socks, I own several pairs, and I’m now buying them for my fiancé.

These are the best fitting and most comfortable cotton crew socks ever. The seams are perfect, with no protrusions inside the socks, creating a perfect form around the feet. The fabric is soft and sturdy and the color details are attractive.

There are more size options, leading to a better fit. They are also very durable. I’m hard on my crew socks, and often wear them out in a matter of weeks. These have lasted over a year before I wore any of them wore out.

I now own three pairs of the Crew Socks. Honestly – I add them to orders that are slightly under $100 to get free shipping. They’re good socks, though, and I would buy them more purposefully if they came in patterns (specifically stripes).

They’re a good, substantial fabric. Not as much stretch as I usually like, which hurts the fact that they do shrink just a little bit. I might try ordering the next size up in the future.

I own 6 pairs of these, three different colors, the fit is perfect, the wear is excellent. I wear them in the winter when it is cooler and summer when it is hot (Arizona desert trails). My feet have not been cold or hot.

My shoe size is 9. 5 – 10, I bought medium socks and they fit perfect. There are a ton of negative reviews on this sock which really is why I’m posting my review and experience. Seems there were some defective socks made or maybe sized incorrectly.

I’d try these, Specialized stands behind their products and will refund you if you get a defective pair.

A good sock, and true to size based on other brands that I own. I purchased XL and it was not as difficult to get on and off over my heel as another Specialized sock in the same size that I found to be unusable.

BUT, from the image on screen I thought I would be getting a white sock, not the light gray that arrived. It can still be used with a wide variety of kits because it is so light in color, but a better explanation in features write-up would have been appreciated.

For this reason my recommendation is qualified, and only 3 stars.

Really struggled to get these on, but once I did I loved them. Unfortunately, the next time I tried to get them on I couldn’t. I tried again later and ended up ripping it. I loved them so much I bought a bigger pair.

Again they were very hard to get on and once I did they were WAY to big. Then next time I tried to put them on again I ripped it to. There is something wrong with the design so it’s almost impossible to pull on past the heel.

Great idea, but design needs to be changed.

I’ve worn these socks that I received as a gift 3, maybe 4 times. FOUR MAX! BOTH socks have holes in them already. Oddly enough, four holes. Two per sock. Guess the heels are woven with tissue paper? And as another review mentioned at least one of the wearings was as a sleeping sock.

Socks on clean, smooth and moisturized feet IN BED. Contacted customer service to see if they were interested in the information or possibly a resolution— no. (Unless you ask people for order numbers when, or after, you receive gifts.

Who does that? If not, you can return them and receive a credit for, magically, less than any pair of socks sold here and pay all your own shipping for more poorly made/disposable socks at $@14/pair and up?) PASS.

What a joke. And they’re not that great straight out of the bag either. Soles are thinner than the top, which makes no sense considering which side sees more wear and tear. Also, for my “soccer legs” or athletic friends, the elastic around the top is snug if you have calf muscles and actually want to pull the socks up as well.

So, sorry ladies but these aren’t it! Not even close.

A couple of months ago I wrote a review after getting a pair of these socks and wearing them for a couple of weeks. I came online to order more, and said I loved these socks so far, and would see how they held up.

So, for an update. I kept liking these so much, when there was a sale on, I came back here to get a pair in each color. Then again to get a pair for each day of the week, LOL. I’m wearing the red ones today.

They are just so comfortable for me, work well for my needs, and are soft and substantial cushion to me. I wear these with my Muck boots for yard and garden work, and with dressier boots if I go out in public.

And for sneakers and loafers and around the house. I look forward to putting these on every day; during Covid isolation, those little comforts just make a big difference. My previous go-to socks now languish in the drawer unused, unless I need a dark sock to match my dark pants when wearing a loafer, or needing to take off boots.

These socks continue to wash and hold up well (I dry them in the dryer, but then let them finish drying over night). One sock, early on, did have a place where the toe seam seemed to not be complete, so had a small 4 mm sized hole that I was able to sew up pretty easily.

We have found using something like a Woolite detergent, and laying flat the socks in layers of fluffy towels to dry, offers the best results. These Raggs are the best out there, but just woefully misrepresented.
