20 Best Socks For Dr Martens (2023 Updated)

Bought these along with a pair of “Made in England” boots knowing that the break-in process would be brutal! I was a bit unsure of what size to go for, as I’m a size 8 and right between the 2 sizes. I ended up going for the smaller size which I think was the right decision, they still fit my feet well whereas the bigger size would’ve properly slid around a lot.

They are weirdly tight around the calf so they end up slowly falling down over the day. It’s easily fixed by pulling them up every now and then but it’s a bit of an annoying flaw! They’ve generally been good at protecting my feet while wearing my new boots but I still feel rubbing around the backs of my heels after a while.

I don’t think they can be avoided and it’d definitely be worse with a normal cotton pair of socks. They’re pretty good quality. You could probably have the same effect just wearing 2 pairs of socks but it does make life a bit easier just popping these on.

I have a couple of pairs of DM shoes I’ve never quite managed to break in and have been sitting under my bed so I’ll use these to wear those in too.

A new pair of Doc Martens is always troublesome. Breaking them in can be agony, resulting in horrible blisters and lengthy healing time before having to go through it all again! Having tried zinc oxide tape, limited boot wearing time, different types of plasters, socks and balms, I was at my wit’s end and found myself Googling ‘how DO you break in your new boots without fear of mortal injury?’ On my searches I came across these Double Doc Socks and thought I’d give them a try.

THEY WORK! I have successfully worn my new boots now for a couple of weeks (for limited time each time, like a couple of hours at most) and although my feet are sensitive from old blister injuries, they are more or less healed, and there are no NEW blisters which is great.

Also the boots are softening down and becoming SOOOO comfy at last – the golden reward that we all deserve, and that is so worth it, once we’ve found a way to overcome the blister problem! Buy these socks and wear them as your main defence against the savagery of your new Doc Marten boots.

After a couple of weeks, you, your feet and your boots will be saying stuff like ‘I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship’! :D.

So I wanted to let y’all know that I received my socks in the mail today and I’m completely disgusted at how they were delivered and the packaging. I’ve already sent a separate email to your customer service department but wanted to send one to this as well.

The package was shoved in my mailbox and it was completely drenched in water here it is 3 hours later and look at how wet the package still is. The socks are absolutely drenched as well. Not sure how this happened seeing as how it hasn’t been raining in my area!! The really need to do some upkeep on how they’re shipping your packages!! I paid really good money to get a quality product from your company and it was delivered to me absolutely destroyed!!.

So disappointed in these socks!! They have the extra padding so they do help with blisters and they feel nice but the sizing is so off! Better sizing needed say 3-5 6-9 9+ etc as I bought S/M and the range is too great they are far too big so the protection areas are in the wrong place! They are also very narrow around the top so if you have larger calves like me they don’t sit high enough and dig in which actually hurts.

Plus I could see the line where they dug in through my jeans which is no use. Shame I was really looking forward to these socks bought with my new shoes but I don’t even know if I’ll be able to wear them with my boots either.

I bought these alongside my 1461 Quad Platform shoes – my first pair of Dr Martens so I took the warning of them being notoriously hard to brake in very seriously! However, upon wearing these with them, I found it was just easier wearing normal socks.

They are double lined (as advertised) but the layers aren’t really ‘stuck’ together, if you get me. So when walking, I found the socks created a really slippy fit and my heel kept slipping out of the shoe.

I did consider this being a size issue with the shoes but as soon as I tried it with normal socks, the problem disappeared. They didn’t seem to work with me, but they are a really good quality and perhaps they would work well with the more traditional boots! They’ll be nice warm socks for the winter, at least.

Good quality socks. Warm and comfy. Will help to break in those new Docs!

I needed some laces for my work shoes and knew that Dr Martens are a good name as I’ve used them before they last ages and never fray okay a bit more expensive than cheapies but for the money you’d probably have to buy 2 or 3 pairs of Charlies.

Great laces had them about a month use them every day and they still look like New.

Bought these along with the rainbow pair to go with daughter’s first pair of DM boots for her 18th. Sadly these socks failed on their first outing – hole appeared in the big toe. I suspect an unlucky fault in the workmanship because her rainbow socks are still going strong.

Shame because these are really lovely socks and she really liked them.

High quality craftsmanship and very pleased that they fit so well. Really good work partner as they hold up to literally every stressful situation I put them through. I just couldn’t ask for a better boot.

The marl yellow socks pair well with my yellow laces on my Doc Martens. They’re comfortable and insulating for these winter months, as well as stylish! Good fit!

I love these socks – love the material and weight of them; they are just right – not too thick. Thin socks aren’t great with Doc Marten boots, and anything too thick makes the boots feel too tight; it’s been hard to find a sock that’s the right weight for the boots, and I am so happy I found these!.

I’m a big wearer of another Vermont Brand’s socks, but figured I’d try these since they weren’t too pricey with a set of boots. They are solid enough for what they are, but feel a little thinner than socks of this price should be.

I love the color though, and wear them just for that. I would consider them again on sale, and maybe even a second set to match my laces on some of my docs. But otherwise they are just good.

These socks are awful. The fabric is cheap and not at all soft and comfy. They are not padded. The fit is terrible. They fall down because the elastic is cheap and not well executed. They are supposed to take up the space in your shoes and prevent blisters.

They do the opposite.

needs to be more flexible, as a sock. too tight for Large. just a NO. If i need socks, ill head to HEMA. Your shoes rock though. socks…? no.

I really like the quality of these socks! Very comfortable and soft. Also quite thick, which means I can use them to wear in my new Doc Martens without any pain! 🙂

Sorry about the email with nothing in it, not really sure what I did wrong but oh well. Anyway, just thought I’d pass some observations about the socks I purchased in late March/early April. I remembered that you said that the supplier of those socks was a new one for you so feel free to pass along my comments.

First the good and then the bad. The large size fit me great even though I wear an 11 1/2 boot. They really kept my lower legs from swelling and they maintained their fit pretty well. ^^Unfortunately, out of the 4 pairs that I got, I’m down to my last pair.

All the socks wore out in the bottom part of the heel, the fabric just wore away. I will mention that I wore them with 2 new pairs of Keen boots, I usually alternate my hiking/walking boots but with both pairs of boots the insoles were brand new.

I do walk/hike between 3-4 miles every day so my socks/boots get a good workout. Also, always washed them in cold water and put them on a drying rack to dry. I don’t use a dryer for my clothes as most of them are either cotton or wool.

^^I’m disappointed that they didn’t last longer, I had hoped to get more than 4 months wear out of each pair. It really did help that they kept my legs from swelling. I’m hoping that the company that produces them can make them a little more durable.

I have been purchasing these socks, starting with the regular sized socks. But when I found the 13-15 sizes I was thrilled. But then I purchased the socks (4 packs), and after I washed the socks, they all came out of the wash at different sizes.

Sometimes the body of the sock shrank a lot, and sometimes just the tops shrank. The ones I have on now, were worn once and then washed (on cold) and dried. (See photo). I tried going back to the regular size socks, but I was having the same problems there.

I even tried the longer socks, but experienced even a worse problem with those. I would have socks (even though they were all the same size when purchased), now looked like socks for my 11 year old daughter, my 12 year old son, my wife, or a small tight pair of socks for myself.

This has all been over the purchse of roughly 12 packages of socks. Now, to look for some other company that can make socks that are the same size, from one pair to the next.

Best, soft and most comfortable socks I ever had. For the good price, you are getting quality socks. Being diabetes/circulatory is an added bonus, which I don’t have those issues. I have a large supply of various socks but they don’t come cross to softness and comfortableness.

I never thought socks can feel so good. This was the first time I ordered a Dr. Scholl’s product on January 12, 2022. One pack first to check it out. I placed an order for 2 more packs January 19, 2022.

I will order more and replace all my others, which would also eliminate the tedious chore of matching up after wash but more than that I can’t see wearing any of my other socks ever again. Why wear ones that are not soft and uncomfortable.

There are so many socks to choose from that it’s hard to decide which ones. I would say try these and if so happen you don’t like them, the cost of $12. 99 for 6 pairs is insignificantly. You can return it, donate it, or use it as rags.

I’ve been running in these for about a month. I like the height of the socks – high enough that they don’t creep down into my shoes which happens to me with lower cut socks but still lower than a crew sock.

I like where the padding is on the bottom of the foot and on toes and heel. I guess this is to prevent blisters, but it seems to work well for my running. I also like that the sock on top of the foot is thinner and ribbed — it feels secure and protects the foot great without making my shoes feel too tight around the laces.

Although quality are good I simply can not wear them due to when receiving them they have a ladder type snag on the side of them too much effort to send them back over all delivery was faultless but quality of the item was damaged.

I love Dr Marten socks I have 12 pair, no make that 13 I just remembered the very first pair and I still have them. The wash well and like the boots wear last

They’re ok, I’m a size 7 in the boots and bought the biggest pair M/L – great in the foot, not very stretchy in the leg – can’t imagine a size 11 6 foot tall broad man fitting in these…..

The first time I washed these socks they shrank. They were in the same wash as other dr Martin socks and they were the only ones that shrank. I’m slightly disappointed but hopefully I can stretch them out.

The wrong item was sent in the order for these socks. I had to reorder the ones I requested a second time. Now that I finally have them, I will say they will be loved by my Pittsburg Steelers fan when I present them for his birthday.

First up, I’m not a vegan, but I loved the colour and shine of these boots, so I ordered them. They fit perfectly and are so comfortable!! The ‘leather’ is soft and pliable, so no blisters or sore feet.

Highly recommended.

Socks are good quality but too small and too short. I ordered the correct size – I have bought Dr Martins socks before – I guess this some sort of penny pinching initiative to make a bit more money. Shame.

Bought these for my kids Xmas stocking. Good quality, cool looking & true to size. My kids love them and want more socks.

These socks are sold out everywhere, that tells you they are a great product. My son will only where these socks, they are so comfortable. He has trouble with regular socks making his legs swell over the top of them but these are fine.

I ordered these thinking they would be thick socks. I was pleasantly surprised they were thin! I love the classic cross design and the fact that I can wear them with other boots I need thin socks for.

These are definitely cute! Perfect length but definitely not thick! I don’t recommend them for use in new or breaking in new boots, get “The Double Sock”

I love all the Doc Socks, particularly the Marl ones. They look great. However, I find that they don’t seem to last all that long. One sock from a black and white pair I recently bought unraveled at the top after the first wash.

That was just a particularly bad pair, I’m sure, but they do still develop holes pretty easily imo.

I would put zero but there isn’t an option. I bought these to go with my new docs because I know they’re notorious blister makers. Unfortunately they were cancelled and my docs have torn my average sock and ankle apart just wearing them around the house 🙁.

I didn’t feel any of the pain of breaking my boots in with these socks. Of the two Dr. Marten socks I tried with my new boots, these were an astonishing night & day difference. I’ll be getting a few more of these!.

These are perfect with my new Dr Marten boots, long enough to come up above the ankle and soft and warm. But they are quite big! I got s/m and I’m a size 5 and they are still huge! I’m hoping they’ll shrink a bit in the wash!.
