20 Best Social Media For Photographers (2023 Updated)

This is a really good attempt to involve photographers and help them understand the mechanics of a DSLR camera and improve their photography. It is a serious book! Unfortunately it doesn’t quite work for me as I find it difficult to plough through and the suggested weekly course approach doesn’t suit me.

I really wish someone somewhere could demystify DSLR photography: I’ve bought several books that promise to do so – including Idiots Guides – but all of them become hopelessly involved in technicalities.

No wonder most people stick to their phone cameral or merely stick on Automatic! I will plough through this book but chunks of it will be ignored. I’m sure it will help me eventually to become a more knowledgeable and better photographer but it will take time and patience to do so.

NOT a quick fix. but perhaps I’m too old and thick to really appreciate this.

Detailed and comprehensive, but can be a little off putting as you sometimes have to flick from one page to another. Easy but relevant questions once you have thoroughly read your current focus; everything is easy when you read correctly “how to!” Photo images illustrate the wrong and correct way, which believe me helps a lot! So pleased I bought this book! I must also recommend the Booktopia buying experience; Easy navigation of the website; straight forward purchase and prompt delivery.

I was also able to track my purchase with Australia Post.

The Digital Photography Complete Course is a comprehensive and easy to read tool for those who want to improve their photography skills. I found it very helpful and actually enjoyed the projects provided to hone each new skill.

It is well set out and provides diagrams and examples to ensure you can easily understand how to implement each new step of the process. My photography skills have improved beyond measure and will continue to do so the more I practice the techniques provided within the book.

I have no hesitation recommending this book to any budding photographer. With practice you can turn your everyday snap shots into beautiful, professional looking photos you would be proud to hang on your walls.

There are some books that one must have in a photographer’s library. This is one. Laugh along as Scott Kelby explains his way through different lighting situations in a way that you will keep in your memory for future reference.

It would be difficult not to pick up useful techniques for all types of situations. I have his full collection of Digital Photography books and I very rarely loan them out. Perhaps that is not nice, but my library is not perfect without Scott’s books.

Although printed sometime ago, I found several small gems of information for my photography. It’s a shame the videos which go with book are now longer available.

Been buying Scott’s books for many years, they are always instructive in regular layman language, well illustrated, and very informative. Highly recommend this book to all digital photographers – I have 60+ years photographic experience, and still manage to learn from Scott.

This will be used in a photography classroom. Great visuals with some great information without getting too complicated.

I read this and the recommendations regarding photography were very helpful to me. Now I can take good photos because I learned more about photography. I can work better with the camera, so my friends ask me to take photos of them.

This book does provide a good overview of fundamentals of photography, i. e. use of focal length, shutter speed, light as well as other elements to achieve desired effect with examples and recommendations to achieve various results.

Good reference for beginning photographers and review reference for more experienced individuals.

The first time I extended the screen it lost it’s ability to retract. I ended up hanging it upside down off the handle with the weight of the suspended body eventually smoothing out the few creases it came with.

To fix – unscrew the right end cap, then unscrew the small single screw that goes into the white roller to release the spring tension. Manually roll the screen up, then put the end cap over the roller and rotate to build up an initial amount of tension, reassemble.

The actual quality of the green screen is very good.

It has been a very long time however since I have last used photo editing software, which was also simply Adobe Photoshop; we’re talking about back in my high school days, from early to late senior year around 1999 which I think was version 5.

I had used Photoshop then for just adding titles and some graphics to my photos and used them on my webpage which I used AOL’s web space for storing it and featuring it online (that’s during basic HTML, and then incorporated using web page building software).

The last time using Adobe Photoshop 5 or 6 was around 2001. Thereafter I didn’t bother with anything as I was focusing on college and then you had social media websites that blew up like Friendster then Myspace.

Asides from just adding titles and graphics, I’ve used photoshop for retouching or getting rid of anything in the background whether it would be a twig from a tree branch that’s in the way in front of a face, and removing it and touching it up, using the “magic wand” and the medicine dropper and color matching and so on.

Here on 2022 Photoshop Elements, there’s a guided-tutorial option for anything and that would help. I explored a few of these but not all. I have experimented and removed a mustache on an older picture of myself, and it did look like I have shaven it off clean but also made my mouth smaller; these are just one of the many guided options in editing photos and in this case I have used the object removal, while there are others such as correcting skin tone, moving and scaling, brightness and contrast and more.

The guided option tells you step by step any highlights on what to click on. If you’re already an expert at all of photo editing, just be in expert mode and do whatever you may. Photoshop elements would be a good beginner use software for photo editing, while I understand that its not as professional as Photoshop (without the Elements; aka Photoshop is more professional with more editing power vs Photoshop elements, from my understanding), it offers a great start and if you’re just into basic or intermediate, this would be fine.

If you’re a professional, like you’re own photographer or working for a high end multimedia company, you may want to step your game up. Anyhow, video editing, I’ve haven’t used Adobe Premiere really; only iMovie, and that’s been not too long ago but perhaps close to a decade, filming birthdays parties of my newborn nephew and creating and editing vids, trimming and cutting footage and finessing with titles and transitions.

Well, I see some similarities with 2022 Premiere Elements, but of course very helpful again is the guided option for the assistance, but I was almost able to figure almost everything out. Rest assured, guided mode can be used to an advantage.

What I do like is the special effects you can apply; one for example being the lightning or electrical arc effect, the number of forks, duration, color, and positioning; I’d have to experiment more and play with this feature to get it to my liking.

And like said previously (with Photoshop elements), this is your decent beginning type of editing, for home videos of course or anything not too fancy if you need to make presentations at a business meeting and such that would perhaps stand out than a powerpoint presentation.

I plan to start up later in the future, posting vids on youtube of how I got into cycling (still have a ways to go, like getting a mounted go pro camera), and Premiere elements would be a definite big help to aid in editing and trimming video, and adding music, transitions, graphics/titles, to finally exporting the final product to then upload.

Yes, I recommend this Adobe Elements bundles as a great start for anyone into Photography/Blogging, to Social Media, YouTubing, etc, regardless if a professional, or used to be and getting into the game again, or barely starting out.

Adobe – Premiere Elements 2022 for Windows As with all software of this type, there is a learning curve needed to make use of all the different functions and features. With that in mind, there is a multitude of guides and tutorials both built into the software and also on YouTube to see what is possible and learn how to do it.

If you are serious about your video editing and looking to create some nice video presentations that can use both standard video aspect and “phone” aspect videos, then this software is worth a good look.

Using the software itself, there are different levels to use, depending on how familiar you are with the program – ranging from a guided “step-by-step” for beginners all the way to “expert mode” that allows full use of all available features and functions.

There are many functions that are geared towards using the aspect ratio provided by phone videos to create a full-frame video, as well as special “social media” features that can create a nice presentation with effects from a collection of pictures and/or videos.

The AI “Artificial Intelligence” analysis of video clips also enhances video automatically when used. There is a good organizational system that will tag videos and sort them by different tags. For those with a large existing collection of videos, these can be analyzed and sorted with an “Auto Curate” function that does a pretty good job of finding the best quality videos and sorting them by quality, subjects (people, pets, landscapes) – with suggestions for the best videos to use.

Even after using the software and trying different features, there is still a lot to be discovered and there does not seem like much this software will not do without going to professional level software.

If you are a hobbyist or don’t require the most complex manipulation of videos, the Adobe Premiere Elements should pretty much cover all the bases for you. There is a trial version of the software that you can download and try for yourself on the Adobe web site, so if you are looking to switch from a more limited software package or want to see if the Adobe can perform some function or video editing feature that you would like to have, it would be a simple matter to download and install the trial version to see if it meets your requirements.

Adobe Premiere Elements 2022 is an awesome simple to use video editor with clear interface, great video effects with guided edits and cross platform support. This version has some new features like aspect ratios, guided edits, auto reframe feature and much more.

Installation is digital once purchased with clear instructions. If you don’t want to subscribe for yearly subscription, then purchasing this version is a viable option. Since, I already own Adobe photoshop elements (last year version), I opted for this standalone app for $99.

If you need both, then the bundle version is $149. 99. All these are one time purchase with no subscription required. Some of the features to mention are new slideshow Styles, organizing media, compressed video output, step by step Guided edits (around 27), Animated object overlays, auto reframe, Auto creations, Video editing interface with easy edits in quick mode, picking the perfect aspect ratio, smart trim, candid moments, auto smart tone, Reduction of Grainy noise, Video Stabilization, cool double exposure, Time Lapse, Action cam Fix, Animated Skies, Video collage, chroma key, color pop, Audio editing, freeze frames and motion titles, animated social posts and much more.

If you are a new Vlogger or content creator and would like to add some fun to your video without having to spend a lot on video editing tool, then this may be the right tool with few caveats. This version lacks multicam editing, 3D editing, VR content, export to H.

265(HEVC) and screen recording option like pro versions. Performance of Adobe Premiere Elements is good and performed well with standard video editing options. I tested with my G14 gaming laptop and had no issues when rendering or editing.

Overall, great video editing that is easy to use with lot of new features and sets a stage for competition with its amazing performance and price point and will be a powerful editor for anyone new to Vlogging edits or content creation.

I bought this a bit before lockdown for two purposes: trips abroad when I am traveling light, and photos of a grandchild, taking advantage of its autofocus capability. It is good as it is claimed to be for both of those purposes but lockdown put an end to travel, and I did not get to see the grandchild for over a year, so the camera was used much less than I expected.

One feature I do not like is the way the viewfinder works. To hold a camera steady, I like to hold it firmly against my head (or glasses) but if you do that with this camera, it pushes the viewfinder in a little, so you cannot see through it properly.

When the image looks blurred in the viewfinder, you have to hold it a bit further away from your face, and hence less firmly. As a result, I am less confident about holding this camera steady than I am about holding a more traditional camera with a rigid viewfinder.

I also find I miss having more controls (I am spoiled by having a Sony A7R3). I have the dial round the lens set to adjust the exposure up or down as needed, which is very convenient, but ideally I would like it to be easier to adjust the aperture without changing the exposure.

On the other hand, depth of field is so great, aperture is less of an issue than on a larger format camera. I would also like an easier way to move the focus point around the screen, so as a result, I leave it in Wide mode more than I would like.

But despite these minor niggles, the camera does what it is designed to do extremely well and so long as you understand the inevitable limitations of such a tiny camera, I would certainly recommend it.

I rarely use video so cannot comment on the sound quality.

Upgrded from the Mk4 which I loved and still use as it takes great still pictures. The 4k and HD video is great but no mic input makes getting good sound a bit more complicated This version is better for my needs in many ways.

I shoot a lot of 4k wildlife video and this little camera does a quite amazing job. I have a Sony fdr-ax100e and an fdr-ax53 4k camcorders and this camera does the job equally well and better than those two bigger cams.

The 200mm lens is what swung it for me and having a mic input. You can get a good used one for about half the retail price now on ebay if you are patient and keep a watch for a good one. That makes it a real bargain in my book.

I dont find the lack of a ND filter a problem. My one has a 52mm filter adaptor fitted and it lets me use a variable ND filter when required. I use a polarizing filter often too so adding that adaptor was a must.

Another must is to buy one of those rubber add on grips! The body is small and quite slick and adding that grip makes all the difference. The menu is complicated (more so than my Mk4 but over time if you sit and play around with it regularly, you soon get the hang of it and then becomes intuitive.

After not owning anything other than a iPhone for shooting photos, I finally decided to purchase a good travel camera, Sony’s RX100M7. The price was right on this one, since it was $200 less than anywhere else.

I am really enjoying this thing although there is a lot to learn to really get the most out of it, and I continue to look at YouTube videos to help with that. The camera does not come with a printed manual, a problem since it requires web access to learn how to use it.

You can download a document with web links to different features and usage, but that’s not ideal when you’re out traveling and have no access. So read and watch everything in preparation for using this thing.

You can keep the Sony RX100M7 in full Auto mode if you want, although I recommend a less expensive camera if that is your end goal. This camera can do all sorts of neat things if you know the fine points of its features, and I recommend that you do.

It takes nice steady videos, can be used for Vlogging although you would need an external microphone and a bracket to affix it to since the camera does not have a spot for an external mic. So that’s a negative, but one of the few for a camera in this class.

Other negatives include a very complex menu system of all the features and options, and the back video display screen only allows for very basic touch-sensor use, none of which are related to menus. The touch screen is used mostly for setting a focus point when you are taking a photograph, so extremely limited use.

Also, the menu’s built-in Help features are very basic. Another negative is the battery life. Plan on purchasing an additional battery or two and an external charger if you will be shooting a lot during the day.

Also, the photos and/or videos can get quite large depending on which settings you use, so have a fast, large SD or compatible memory card (or two or three!) if you know you’ll be taking a lot of photos/videos during any day of use.

Finally, here’s what else you’ll probably need to be happy with your RX100M7 — a screen protector for the rear video screen, a carry case of some sort to house the camera when not in use, along with its batteries, extra SD card, charge cable, etc.

You might buy a pricey video gimbal if you do a ton of video work and want extreme steadiness, as well as a tripod to use for night photos, action, etc. That’s a start, anyway. Good luck with your new RX100M7 camera, it’s a good one if these conditions fit your profile!.

I am primarily shooting static subjects as I take landscape photos mostly. The 128GB 1600x is a great choice for me. It has the capacity that keeps me shooting without having to worry that it’s filling up.

If I do need to shoot video or use a burst to capture a moving subject it has plenty of speed where it doesn’t cause me any problems. These cards are my go to and never had one fail even in the worst conditions.

Used for Samsung Galaxy. After 2 months, the phone could not read the card. I tried to read it on the PC but it said the format is required. When I used the tool, it recognized only 7 GB on physical memory instead of 32 GB.

Office Depot doesn’t accept replacement and Lexar doesn’t either because of CFIUS. Lexar offered refund but it was not full. Lexar SD card was good before but not any more.

Beautiful photography and fun for all ages. My 2 year old son loves Finding Momo before bed and looking at all the details in the photography. Following Andrew Knapp on Instagram had me certain I would purchase this book and I couldn’t be happier that it sits pride of place on my son’s bookshelf.

The binding of the book was cracked before I got it as when I opened the book the first few bags are starting to fall out.

I have three security cams, and all three (after this purchase) now have this brand/model card in them. The specs don’t lie, and the SD card is perfect for the purpose I bought them – no issues whatsoever.

Plug, and play. Read/write speed is as per specs, thus has helped ability to monitor cams considerably (connectivity/lag/etc). The higher capacity of this card means event-triggered recording ensures the card lasts AGES before overwriting older footage (e.

g. a 32GB card was estimated to last four-plus weeks). Image and video capture/resolution, etc, are all per product claims. Given this is my third purchase of same brand/model of micro SD card? Suffice to say I will buy again for other devices, and would/will also recommend.

Pricing vs other brands is also a major bonus; particularly whenever PBTech has a special or sale on. While there are other brands many might consider more ‘reputable’? Reviews of same suggest otherwise re factors such as failure rate/other issues – and in my humble opinion, Kingston is actually one of those reputable brands.

They’ve been a mainstay in the market a long time – given the fickle nature of the tech industry? Any duds would sink fairly rapidly if products/services weren’t consistently fit for purpose/able to meet industry standards/requirements.

(Obviously purely speculative/anecdotal opinion – however, many things I read suggest other underlying issues re reasons for products not working as expected, etc – including not checking specs prooperly/unrealistic expectations, etc etc.

Ergo, ability to troubleshoot is key – along with patience – and fair/objective reviewing).

I bought the Kingston 64GB Canvas React Plus Card. I am a professional photographer and was hoping to find a card faster than Lexar’s Professional Silver series without having to make the jump to the Gold series (price being the main factor).

I had checked out a few reviews and found this card at a reasonable price. Card claims to be rated for UHS-II and 300MB/s. Ok, I thought, I’ll bite. For comparison’s sake, I’ll be referencing the 64GB Lexar Professional Silver series card, which claims to be rated for 250MB/s, at UHS-I The moment I put the Kingston in my Canon R6 and looked at the burst-fire buffer, I knew I had been lied to.

With the Lexar card my buffer is in the high 90s. The Kingston card showed a buffer size of only 69 (nice) images. this is with the camera pointed at the same subject, with the same lighting, and same settings.

Ok, I thought to myself again, maybe it’s a fluke? So I shot like I normally do for an entire wedding, then came to transfer my images to my computer. The Lexar (as I will remind you, is rated at 250MB/s and UHS-I) moved files at a decent 120MB/s using my UHS-II rated card reader.

The Kingston memory card ambled along at somewhere around the mid-80MB/s pace. The only reason this isn’t a 1 star review is because at least the card works. However it underperforms in every area it claims to excel in.

Buyer beware: if the speed ratings actually matter to you, do not buy this card.

For the price (especially the reduced price I snagged), this UHS-I microSD card was good value, hitting all the right points in performance, warranty, and availability today. It’s proving to be an excellent storage upgrade for my phone, in the past three weeks I’ve had it.

Note that this microSD card’s performance and the price paid to get it, is totally wasted on a Nintendo Switch or any other device limited by it’s own hardware. Make sure you buy it for hardware that can actually utilise the performance you just paid a premium for.

Which I did check. But I note that many other buyers assume better rated performance can always be achieved by any application. Not so. Finally, PB Tech got the it shipped to me speedily and well tracked.

TEST YOUR CARD BEFORE REVIEWING IT! You can’t judge a card based on its label and the fact that it can store SOME data. Cards are sold every day with a falsified format that make them appear to have a lot more storage capacity than they actually have.

I bought 3 of these 256 GB “SanDisk” cards at the same time. I opened one package and tested it with a well-known and trusted tool called “f3”. You run f3write to fill the card with data, and f3read to check that the data were properly written.

The first card failed in a way that suggests this is a 32 GB card that has been (intentionally?) malformatted as 256 GB. I opened the 2nd package and tested the card the same way, with the same result.

I then took a 256 GB card I had previously purchased elsewhere, and ran the same test on it, using the same tools and the same computer — it checked out perfectly. The most charitable thing I can say is that it might be remotely possible this seller doesn’t know they are buying from a “shady” supplier.

This is not a SanDisk problem. I have perfectly good cards from SanDisk. These are probably not SanDisk cards, or they may be SanDisk cards that have been relabeled and repackaged.

I bought two of these. I actually use these for computer file storage because they are so compact and are very covert for portable applications. If you think about it, 5 of these stacked up is the equivalent of 5TB but in under the size of a few coins.

It is amazing how far technology has come. The quality is outstanding as usual -no corrupted files, transfers quickly, gets heated when writing very large quantities for a bit of time, but I rarely do that so not an issue.

They do seem to keep cool enough to maintain the higher speed so that is good. Remember, to get the best speeds, you need the right readers, usb cables, and ports. This all works together. I have used the 256gb, 512gb, and now 1tb sizes of these and so to extrapolate to past ones I have purchased, again, never had issues.

When these are on sale, the price is fair. I use my old ones in cameras now and they record 4k video with ease. Can’t wait for 2TB haha, or at least 2TB in an SD card since technically it would fit.

The reviews I read online all seemed to culminate into one main point about the Canon RP: It’s a good but not great camera designed for a very specific and small demographic. I felt confident that I fit into that group, namely in that I needed a new secondary body, and this body fits my needs perfectly.

Besides all of the subjective comparisons and compliments I can give it, objectively the RP does fit very well into a new groove of its own. As an entry-level, full-frame, mirrorless camera, it doesn’t do everything perfectly, but it does what it does very very well.

Every shot I’ve taken, I love. Weighing in at just under what-I-expected pounds, it’s light and small enough to carry around anywhere. As a sub-four-digit-price-tag body, I’m comfortable taking it to a lot of places I would NEVER take my R5.

I recently shot a wedding with the R5 on one hip and the RP on the other, and the shots are comparable. Yes, the R5 has higher dynamic range and more post-processing latitude and more front-end features and higher resolution and 4x file sizes and yada yada yada, but the RP is so comfortable and fun to use that it cannot be overlooked as a useful body.

If you’re a beginner to full-frame and/or mirrorless cameras, or if you’re a pro in need of a secondary body that doesn’t cost you the arm you need to hold the lens, the RP is a great buy that I guarantee you won’t regret.

TL;DR- It’s light, it’s comfortable, it’s cheap, it works well, it’s Canon, it’s not perfect but it’s great at what it was designed to do, it keeps up with the competition, I didn’t have any buyer’s remorse on this one, and I don’t think you will either.

As a route into full frame photography and the EOS R system this is a fantastic camera choice. Yes, it’s an older camera, but for the price and the included 24-105 RF kit lens you can’t go wrong. The camera is small for a full frame camera, but I found it to be easy and comfortable to use.

The Canon menu system makes it easy to navigate around the settings and controls; I found it very intuitive. One of the things I like most is the sharpness and quality of the photos straight out of the camera.

Compared to my older crop sensor camera the images from the Canon EOS RP are crisp and the colours are beautiful. I love the Canon colour technology. Before deciding on this camera I compared it with other full frame cameras.

For me, this was an introduction to full frame and the EOS R system. I decided that I would rather invest in quality RF lenses and upgrade the camera body in the future. It’s not a flagship camera, so don’t expect it to be.

I think this camera is perfect for everyday photography. In my opinion, the sensor is great and the photographs it takes look professional. The video quality is also very good, with its fully articulated screen, the EOS RP will probably make a for a good video camera for YouTubers.

I found the battery life of this camera to be ok. I get about 250-300 photos from the supplied battery. I didn’t have a higher expectation on battery life, so, I found it to be reasonable. The battery level can drop rapidly when the indicator reaches the 50% mark.

I would recommend buying spare batteries so you don’t get caught out if the battery level depletes quickly. If you are looking for an excellent camera that can create sharp, colourful and beautiful images at a sensible price, the Canon EOS RP can deliver that.

If you are undecided, do a little bit of research and decide if this is the camera for you. If you want to invest in the impressive RF lenses and upgrade the camera body later, in my opinion, this is an excellent choice.

This is a highly capable full frame sensor camera with features that allow easy control of the shooting parameters. There is a trade-off between size and weight in going from APS-C sensor to full frame and I decided to accept the bigger camera in exchange for the better photo quality and convenient controls.

Note that most of the added weight and size is in the lenses, not so much the camera body. The camera also fit in my hand better than the Canon M50. I already have an S110 pocket camera and my daughter has an APS-C type so the RP adds some professional level quality that I am enjoying.

There is a lot to learn in order to make full use of all of the camera’s features, which you can learn from online tutorials and the full manual available online. I also want to point out that if you are buying a camera at this price point and capability level you should be reading professional reviews with sample photos, such as Imaging Resource.

YouTube reviews can be useful too, but may be biased and in some details I have found just wrong.

Kingston is the only brand I’ve used for many years. I’ve never had a problem with one, and I use about 15 per year (I use and store – they also format for reuse). I’ve stuck with Kingston over the course of a few cameras’ lives and have never had to change brands.

Since I now keep the files on the card and rarely reuse, I can’t speak to how well they perform after several formats in this most recent iteration of the card. I have used them with repeated reformatting in the past without any issues.

I use the 32GB size exclusively and don’t recall any experience with anything larger (maybe one 64GB once?). I do know that I’ve never had an issue with any Kingston card, and if I had, I wouldn’t still be using them.

We purchased an LG android phone a while back and had the hardest time trying to add some additional memory on our phone. We tried several brand memory cards and non of them worked properly. They kept crashing the system.

Even our LG phone manual said that their are some memory cards that will not be compatible with LG phones. Decided to purchase this Kingston memory card and so far it works. No issues or crashes within the my LG K31 phone.

We are writing this review in case anyone has any similar issues with their LG mobile phones. If your looking to add additional memory to your phone, this memory card works with LG phones. But please check your manual for GB specifications.

Some phones won’t be able you to upgrade to a larger GB’s memory. For LG K31 mobile phone you can only upgrade to a 32 GB memory card. So far so good. Happy to have found this memory card at a reasonable price.

I find Kingston cards to be FAR more reliable than any other make. This is a tested GENUINE Kingston 32gb SDHC card, and excellent value for money. The card is a Kingston Canvas Select Plus 32GB micro SDHC Memory Card and came complete with a full size SD card adapter.

I tested its speeds and they are very close to the advertised specifications. I have used Kingston cards and SSDs in the past and found them to be exceptionally reliable Whilst I have had an odd failure with other Big name brands.

I now will only use the Kingston brand and have never had a moments problem. Taken that the Kingston cards are very competitive in price and so reliable, why would anyone choose anything else.

I initially got this camera avid 2 years ago to replace a Panasonic lumix. The zoom is amazing, which is what initially attracted me to this. We get polar bears up here and we like to watch them eat but didn’t want to get too close to bother them.

It’s definitely outlasted my previouss cameras (refurbished sales on amazon under $200) and I am impressed. I stepped up and started learning to handle a nikon d850 and lens attachments but this is still my go to.

Getting a back up Coolpix P1000 camera (this was hard to find new online because they’re in such high demand?) In case anything happens which it tends to with dogs and all the water and salt and abuse my equipment gets.

It does pretty great with macro shots as I love taking pictures of plants up here. The preset functions are user friendly and custom settings aren’t difficult to set. I definitely recommend this camera as a just in case carry along.

I’m a long-time user of Nikon gear. Intrigued by the telephoto capabilities, I bought the P-1000 on a whim. After buying the camera, I had a conversation with a B&H tech regarding its overall capability compared to other Nikon cameras.

The conclusion I reached was that the camera has about the same size sensor you’d find in a cellphone. It’s image processing speed keeps you from taking action oriented photos without the delay you get which is typical to cellphone cameras.

As would be expected, the camera must be tripod mounted when deploying the telephoto lens out to it’s extreme magnification. When shooting at that magnification, the image is amplified electronically because of the small image sensor.

This cuts down on the resolution (image quality). Essentially, the P-1000 doesn’t fall into the same category that other Nikon cameras are in regarding a serious piece of equipment. It’s a gimmick. If you’re really serious about shooting good telephoto images, buy a proper telephoto lens and body.

ps: B&H has the Nikon D-850 camera body on sale for about $2500. A telephoto lens is extra. The price should tell you where the P-1000 falls in comparison.

I came from Sony’s APS-C cameras and primarily am reviewing the GH5 Mark II as a video camera. Overall: The GH5 Mark II feels like a modern camera and delivers exceptionally cinematic performance in almost every way.

It has the new S-series menu systems, usb-c, larger batteries supports professional video recording options. If you never owned a GH5, , then realize the camera is a little smaller than it appears in photos, which I think is a good thing.

You’ll need fast cards to capture the high quality formats (C4K 10-bit 4:2:2 etc. ) but the good thing is you don’t need any external recorders. Image quality: The GH5 Mark II out of the box using Cine-D or V-Log L picture profiles results in image that is so much more flexible than Sony’s 8-bit format.

The color science and rendering also feels more natural than the GH3 which I also owned. In my opinion ISO is useful up to 6400 with clean up and the dynamic range holds up at higher ISOs pretty well.

S5 vs GH5 Mark II The S5 and the GH5 Mark ii are almost the same price, so I’ll explain why a GH5 Mark ii might be more suitable for certain people. Don’t let the MFT size sensor fool you. Shallow DOF is easily attainable.

But it’s not even always desirable as it’s less of a concern for filmmaking. In that way, the MFT system seems ideal. I found it easy to adapt to other lens systems, especially for anamorphic shooting.

MFT and vintage lens are affordable compared to L-mount lens. With a 25mm F1. 8 the shallow DOF is substantial. But I also tested it with a Nikon 50mm f1. 4 and 0. 71x speedbooster and it feels like I I may be meeting or exceeding the DOF of Super 35mm (APS-C sized sensors).

As a bonus, the GH5 Mark II has better IBIS than the S5 by a large margin. And you also get Open Gate anamorphic mode which uses the entire sensor to capture video.

I’ve owned several Panasonic micro four thirds cameras, and while the field sequential EVFs weren’t great for me, they were useable. I was interested in the G100, but decided to rent before buying, and I’m glad I did.

The camera is okay – it’s basic Panasonic fare. It has all the features you’d expect in its price range plus it’s very lightweight. What made me decide not to buy one is the EVF. They moved away from their old style of EVF, and while this one looks better if you’re not panning or tracking something, when you do move the camera, the EVF is very jittery.

It’s like only every other frame shows up. If you take static shots, this won’t bother you at all, but I take pics of birds in flight and some moving wildllife, so for me, this camera was a no-go. Otherwise it’s fine to use, and those looking for a lower priced, low weight Panasonic will probably like what the G100 has to offer.

So the camera would get 4 stars from me if it weren’t for the EVF plus 1 star for value. To me due to the EVF, it’s a 3 1/2 star camera. Otherwise it would be a 4 or 5 star review. I’m so happy LensRentals had this in stock so I didn’t have to go through the hassle of buying and returning the camera.

As a complete novice to digital photography, this book is most informative and helpful in my new found hobby. It explains in simple terms the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO. It explains the different types of cameras and lenses.

The book is well illustrated and written in an easy to follow narrative.

Another really good book on photography, again if you are relatively new to photography like me, literally covers everything. Although I must admit I think the complete photography has the edge. I would still recommend and a very good price from here.

I go online and find free coloring pictures and print them out on this photo paper. I have tried many different brands but this is the best. It will take gel pens, oil-based pencils, water-based pencils.

Everything I’ve tried comes out great. For me, it is the only paper to use for coloring. Since this is so good for coloring, I’m going to assume that it will do the same for photos. Great paper!.

Color retention and fidelity are great. Makes my custom posters pop, and my landscape photography amateur work get an extra level of quality. Although it is slightly pricey, it is justified given the professional grade and quality.

This memory card is great for my Canon EOS 7D camera! When I bought my camera a number of years ago, the memory card I bought was around 4GB, because that’s all I could afford at that time – the larger capacity memory cards were outrageously priced.

Now that the price has gone done, I was finally able to purchase the 128GB memory card. I was using the video recorder on my camera to film my music band performing gigs, and the older memory card would always run out of space and capture only 1/3 of our concerts.

With the 128GB capacity, I no longer have to worry about the recording stopping in the middle of the concert. Also, the specs on this card are great – very fast – great for burst shooting of photos. In fact, I bought 2 of these memory cards.

Easy to install, no problems yet, so I am completely satisfied with it.

Their stock is always genuine and fresh. Unlike big A company out there, who has a lot of returned items circulating in their supply chain mixed with non genuine stock, I trust B&H in selling me the genuine article fresh from the factory.

I will no longer use this card in my Z6ii when recording video. The card runs very hot and I get a “Hot Card” warning on my Z6ii when recording video. I am not recording lengthy videos only short clips over a period of 30 minutes.

I record appoximately 10 minutes of 30 minutes and receive the warning. I am concerned about the card causing issues with Z6ii so I will look for other brands. I have contacted technical support but received a return reply that suggested I contact a different tech support link which turns out to be the same link I used to originally submit the request.

SanDisk 128GB Extreme Pro Cards – personal experience with Nikon D5, Nikon Z9 Pros: – Works great for Nikon D5 with the CFEb compatibility firmware upgrade installed. – The cost per GB was reason I purchased, better price than I have ever seen (thanks B&H).

– This is one of the brands that is approved by Nikon for CFEb cards. Cons: – Not recommended for raw file performance with Nikon Z9 if using Uncompressed Raw. Will start buffering at about frame 65.

– Hot Card. CFEb cards get really hot compared to XQD or CF. You can’t leave them in idle in the reader. They can get almost scalding hot. That said – beware any CFEb card will do this, not a knock on SanDisk.

Some get so hot you can’t touch them for a minute or two after file xfers. Bottom like, I am likely to buy more in future, but don’t plan to use with the Nikon Z9, it is the Ferrari of CFEb card performance.
