20 Best Soaps For Keratosis Pilaris (2023 Updated)

Not a huge fan of the scent personally speaking (smells a lot like the raw cacao chocolate you bake with—ha!) but regardless, this has done wonders for my skin! I read about a similar product on a super popular beauty routine website in an article which was about backne in particular.

I looked up the product they recommend which led me to this, which I opted for because of the better reviews! It has done wonders for my backne. I use this on an exfoliating bath sheet in the shower daily.

I then follow up with a spray on acne treatment on my back. I have sensitive skin and this has also helped improved the appearance of scars on my body from other things. I am relieved I finally found something that actually works without stripping my skin, which I believe was happening with the acne body wash from the drugstore I was using for MONTHS with barely any results.

I needed a solution to prep for getting married next spring because of my strapless dress (also why I was willing to spend some extra money finally on sorting this skin issue out) and am so happy I finally found one!!! Will def be using this beyond my wedding! So happy with this product.

This is the best stuff for skin exfoliation! With age, I see that the skin on my arms and legs lose elasticity and look dull. Continued use of this body wash has made a vast improvement in the appearance of my skin.

With continued use (every other day) and proper moisturizing afterwards, my skin is softer and looks better. Another plus, it does not contain granules to scratch (exfoliate) your skin or wash down the drain – got to do what we can for the water filtration system!.

Having previously been a fan of more harsh scrubs, I was looking for an alternative exfoliant which would be more gentle, yet effective. After much comparing of various products, I am so glad to have settled on Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash- it is fantastic! I use a couple times a week- just lather up, let it sit for about 5 minutes while a hair mask is on, and VOILA, glowing, smooth, non-irritated skin! Fabulous!.

I ordered this product when I experienced an acne breakout on my back for the first time. This cleanser cleared up the irritation and any hyperpigmentation within days. I continue to use this product on my entire body because it keeps my skin incredibly smooth and also prevents any ingrown hairs.

I make sure to use a good moisturizer after my shower because the cleanser can be drying on is own. This product helps my skin feel and look great and I always receive compliments on how healthy it looks and feels.

I recommend this product to all my friends and family.

Ok so I changed climates from a very humid state to a dry state and my once oily skin started peeling and cracking and I would exfoliate and the skin around my mouth and on my chin would not budge. It would feel smooth for less than an hour then the flakiness would return along with inflammation and itchiness.

And the more I exfoliated, the more my skin became irritated and the darker it became. So I did some Googling and found out it’s eczema. I’ve never had eczema in my life but due to changing climates, I developed it.

So I started using this and moisturizing my skin with pure Shea butter and my skin cleared up completely in about 3 months. Everybody commented on how great my skin was and how much I was literally glowing ✨ used this for 2 years and the eczema never returned and the dark spots cleared up.

I stopped using the Shea butter (thinking it was making my skin greasy but it wasn’t. The Shea butter was melting too much and separating so I wasn’t actually using it to the best of its ability) and started using this oil free acne moisturizer from Neutrogena.

Skin stayed oily so I decided to redo my whole entire skincare line and switched to this pure African black soap bar from Whole Foods. Been using that for about 2 months with no changes to my skin. Then my beautiful skin started breaking out like crazy and the eczema returned and so did the hyperpigmentation.

I thought it was something I was eating or not eating (I recently switched to a vegan diet). Thought I wasn’t drinking enough water even tho I drink 60 oz minimum everyday. Then it dawned on me. I had stopped using the Shea Moisture brand African black soap.

So I went out and bought some more. Shea Moisture has a lifelong customer because I will never stop using this. Here I was thinking “it must have stopped working” but it was working all along and keeping my eczema under control.

I can’t finish using this bar because of the scent. I have sensitivity to fragrances that can trigger migraines. I was worried when I opened the shipping box and the smell was very strong. After unboxing everything and putting it away I was hoping it was the soap box that smelled so strongly, which was not the case.

Then I noticed after I placed the bar into the shower that the entire bathroom is filled with this really strong smell. I hoped that maybe after I used it a few time the smell would get more mild but it’s just as strong as ever.

I won’t be able to finish using the bar unfortunately. I love the paper packaging, and the soap works fine. Lathers up the washcloth well, I just can’t stand the smell.

The product description says “can last as long as three 22-ounce bottles of body wash” but that has not been my experience at all. I’ve only been using it for three weeks and it’s 2/3 gone. I use it in the Peach soap bag–which I love, by the way–and hang the bar to dry, so it’s not that the bar is being subjected to too much moisture.

It just doesn’t last as long as they say it will. Also, I’m not a fan of fruity smells, and this bar is super fruity. Having said that, it offers a nice gentle exfoliation and my skin feels really smooth and hydrated after using it.

And I love the eco-friendly aspects of the Peach products. I doubt that I will buy this one again though. I’ll keep looking for a longer lasting bar with a smell that is more to my liking.

What I liked best about this product is that the scent isn’t super-masculine or -feminine. So, it works great for families like ours where several people of different sexes/genders share a soap bar. My husband claimed it reminded him of Irish Spring, although I thought it smelled much better than Irish Spring.

I personally prefer the scent of the pink Peach bath bar, but my husband doesn’t like it, so this is a nice compromise. It’s always good to have a few scents to choose from too! The bar lathered nicely, was easy to hold onto in the shower, and left skin feeling hydrated.

Recently I have started using bar soaps again. It seems like more and more brands are coming out with their own versions and I’ve been buying them. This one has been out for awhile, but I just now got it.

It is a huge bar of soap. Almost like two regular bars stuck together. It smells like Play-Doh fresh out of the packaging and feels like hard clay, but is totally different in the shower. It has a very light sweet almond type scent, is very very Moisturizing and lathers up like a dream! I also am a huge fan of the Shea Moisture African Black Soap.

This was only $6 on Amazon. not bad at all.

I bought this soap because normally I love SheaMoisture products, especially their African Soap, but this one was awful. First, the bar is so big that you can barely hold it in your hand. Second, it smells NOTHING at all like coconut or hibiscus or anything even close to that.

It smells just like Play-Doh. Even with those things, I still have it a try, but it dried out my skin so bad and made me so itchy. I had to go out and buy the creamiest soap I could find and the match lotion and Ive still been itchy and trying to recover even 4 days later.

I’m so disappointed.

I am not usually a lover of bar soap for my face – like at all, because it usually always leaves my face feeling really dry tight without somehow feeling deeply clean. So, it was a big deal for me to try this one by Shea Moisture, but I adore all things Shea Moisture have been impressed with each every of the probably 20+ products from this brand.

This face soap is unlike any other facial bar soap I can think of – it actually feels soft and kind of soothing on my face all lathered up. For lack of a better word or description, it feels more milky or creamy on my skin – almost like a cream based cleanser rather than bar soap cleanser.

Washing it off, my skin actually feels clean free of the days layer of pollution dirt. I would definitely encourage you to take off heavy make up any mascara with even a simple makeup removing wet wipe first – before you wash your face! ***This isn’t necessarily my advice purely for this particular product.

I’ve found really believe removing makeup before any skin care routine regardless of the quality or cost of your skin care products or what they claim to to – is always preferable. My thinking is – even when I’m wanting to skip a Step go to bed.

if you are gonna take the time to use 1. Cleanser. 2. Toner. 3. Primer/Tonic/Moisture or anti-wrinkle cream on your face, you have to at least use a Neutrogena makeup remover wipe to quickly get the bulk of your makeup off first! Your skin needs to be clean ready to absorb all the yumminess your giving it – or it’s kind of a waist of time product.

If you love bar soap or love to have a quick facial wash available in the shower, I doubt you could find a better facial bar soap on the market. And there is a selection of specific wants/needs in Shea Moisture’s bar soaps! I’ve just tried this one, but they also have options for sensitive skin, acne, dull skin, a couple of others.

After I wash my face with this cleanser, I follow it with toner a little regular organic coconut oil (like you would cook with). or in a rush, I skip the the toner go straight to coconut oil. Shea Moisture has their own Coconut based facial moisturizer that I have tried as well, which is also great.

but runs about $10 for a small bottle. ***Extra $$$ tip: Costco or similar type bulk stores often carry huge tubs of good quality organic coconut oil (skin LOVES this for around $20. It’s a great investment all around that can save you a ton of money in the long run!.

Sappo Hill products are a really good value soaps, that leave your skin feeling nice and moisturized. The uncented soap is perfect for people with sensitive skin. I highly recomend their products and would buy again and again.

The Natural Glycerine soap from Sappo Hill is unlike any soap you have used before.

I just got this and have only used it twice. It lathers up really well. Has a pleasant scent. I have noticed that my skin is not dry and itchy after use. I have psoriasis and I need a soap that is gentle on my skin.

I will purchase this again. The bar is on the small side so I will order 2 the next time. I gave a 4 star rating simply because I have not used it long enough to see an overall improvement with my skin.

So far am loving this soap it smells nice and leaves skin soft. Will come back and give an update on the cream still need time to see how it works. As for the soap it is really nice i use it everyday i have oily skin and this seems to balance out the oiliness.

I never knew what I was missing out on until I tried this soap. This bar of soap is huge, and other bars of soap I have bought at other online stores have been very small, twice the price, and only last one week.

This bar does not wither away as quickly. I have never seen a bar soap that produces such a foaming lather either. My skin felt more moisturized than it ever has after using any soap. I will never go back to big brand name soaps after this!.

I love that it smells nice and clean, not too strong. My skin doesn’t feel dry but clean after use. The actual bar is very substantial and last a good amount of time. My skin is allergic to most soaps so when I found that I could use this one I was hooked.

Love the smell, wish Shea Moisture would make a perfume! I use this for hair and body. For my aged white wavy fine hair, I rub in, then comb my roots, rinse, then put in again, and let it sit to moisturize, then at the end of the shower, rinse, then use conditioner.

It keeps my scalp smelling very nice for days. For face & shower, I put this on a microfiber and washup. It’s great, very moisturizing. My skin feels nice, not itchy. My cystic acne calms down and reduces in size.

KP Duty by DERMAdoctor. It’s a body scrub like none I’ve used before and I HAVE USED ALOT. 🧖‍♀️Everytime I shower I scrub up with one. This is different. It contains 10% AHA,PHAs + BHA to soften and remove dry rough bumpy skin and botanical oils to soothe.

You apply it to DRY skin. If you have ingrown hair or acne on your chest, legs or back I recommend this product. I used KP Duty on one arm and another sugar scrub on the other. Immediately I could feel the difference in the size of the grit and texture.

KP Duty is finer, doesn’t feel oily and I needed much less of it. Both left my arms soft but KP Duty up close you can see my skin looks a little more refined. (No greasy tub to clean up) Though both scrubs contain oil, KP Duty didn’t leave me feeling greasy.

Its not the usual 15. Dollar body scrub you can make at home with sugar, olive oil, and essential oil. This is spa grade dead skin removal. It removes dead skin with minimal effort and so cleanly you can use it as a skin prep for self-tanning.

Scrub that i never find this good. I love doing scrubbing to my skin as it helps to remove all dead skin and dirt. But this @dermadoctor_skincare scrub is amazing it self. This scrub is formulated for rough, dry and bumpy skin.

Most important its curtly free product. This used this product for 2-3 days in a week and my skin comes put completely different. It also helps to even your body skin tone. Apply dry and rub it and then wet it and rub it.

It works perfectly fine and exfoliate dirt and dead skin. Definitely recommend to everyone who wants to exfoliate and remove dirt from skin. Amazing product. KP duty is allergic tested, non-drying, non-comedogenic, fragrance free, dye free, sulfate free, gluten free, soap fee, and cruelty free.

I’ve used this product for a few years now; I have an olive skin complexion, and very sensitive skin, and I tried using it as an exfoliator for my legs every 2-3 times a week. When I first started using this product it was winter and I didn’t expose my legs to the sun so it worked wonders, the discoloration/bumps were almost entirely gone, but in the summer if I wore shorts or anything that exposed my legs, this product made my skin even more sensitive to the sun despite applying sunscreen every 2-3hrs my skin would have more bumps and discoloration from the use of this product, then all the good it did for me.

Also if I didn’t apply a moisturizer to my legs or if I get a cut or bruise on my legs, the affects were so much more intensifying then usual, while using this product if I got a bruise it would take at least a few months for my skin to recover as appose to normal recover of 1-4 weeks for my skin.

To anyone who’s read all the great reviews and is considering getting the Kp duty microdermabrasion scrub, this product is very strong and can cause more harm then good to your skin. If you see changes like that(hypersensitivity, increased bumps/discoloration) to your skin after use, I highly recommend you stop, don’t do what I did and wait for years to change it, because it can cause a lot of skin damage.

I am now using Paula’s choice skincare products and they are much more helpful and work for the sensitivity of my skin. Since I’ve stopped this product, my skin is no longer hypersensitive, I don’t have crazy discoloration or bumps on my legs even when I’m in the sun with shorts on.

So if you know your skin isn’t really sensitive then maybe give this product a try but if you know your sensitive go for products that cater to skin sensitivity like I did with Paula’s choice products.

So I recently purchased. On their website they say this bar will “gently cleanse and moisturize skin” as it’s specifically for made for those with 𝙙𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣, so skin that’s lacking lipids as it doesn’t produce enough natural oils on its own, and yet the first two ingredients in this bar are (high pH) alkaline soaps- “sodium palmate” and “sodium palmate kernelate”.

Both of these will not only 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝗼𝗶𝗹𝘀, they’ll also throw your skin’s natural pH balance completely off track. Causing irritation, redness, and. you got it, even more dryness.

So that amazing ethically sourced “raw shea butter” will do your skin no good when it’s paired with harsh ingredients like these! It’s such a waste. Your skin should never feel as uncomfortable and tight as mine felt after washing with this bar.

If it does, then it’s time for something better. Please don’t make the same mistake as I did, and assume that just because every other product you’ve had from a company has been great, means that everything they make will follow suit.

Unfortunately you can’t trust alot of the information (that most) companys provided today, as it tends to be more sale’s tactics than actual information, and can be very misleading.

I’ve known about African black soap for awhile now, but recently discovered Shae Moisture brand. I’ve been extremely pleased with this brand and actually was a little surprised how great everything I’ve tried from them has been! African black soap is WONDERFUL for problem skin such as, acne, dryness, psoriasis, itchy/extremely sensitive skin (which I have), etc.

I usually only use natural products on my skin because anything other then natural sourced ingredients will make me completely break out in rashes and irritate my skin for days. I decided to try this after switching from bar soap to bar soap of amazing brands and products I have loved for years, they just weren’t cutting it.

I now live in the Arizona desert, which not only being VERY exposed to the hot sun, it is ridiculously dry here. Never mind that, the water is EXTREMELY hard. All those factors alone; nothing was cutting it.

The FIRST DAY I used this I felt like I instantly had relief all over my body, almost like I let out a breath of stress. Weight lifted off. Within a couple days, redness, irritation and rashes all disappeared and cleared up.

I not only use it over my entire body but also use it as face soap too – keeps my face clean, looking great and I swear almost even toned like I just used a toner. The scent is really hard to describe, I personally don’t mind it at all.

If you have ever smelt a real African black soap – that’s exactly the scent. No different smelling then others I’ve tried in the past. What is even cooler is they have an entire African black soap line! Liquid wash, moisturizer, etc! It’s really hard to find all these pros in one soap for me and I found it!!! Even harder to find something that feels like it actually CLEANS your skin, leaves no residue behind BUT makes your skin baby soft and smooth.

THIS DOES!!!!!!! My all time favorite body soap. I recommend this over and over again and honestly do not have ONE negative comment about this soap! Since being so impressed with this soap – I’ve bought other products from this line and love them all.

If you see my reviews, you can see that I love Kosas. When they launched this shower gel, I bought it immediately. I have very sensitive skin , but also have bouts of KP on the tops of my arms, which is very frustrating.

I use a gentle shower gel and an exfoliator a few times a week, but this shower gel saves me a step and time. It’s an AHA blend of glycolic, lactic and Mandelic acids plus fruit enzymes for gentle exfoliation to clear dull, flaky skin , dirt and debris that cause bumps and breakouts.

It also has all Antoine to soothe sensitive skin. I found that this really helps with my KP and helps with odor after a tough workout or being out in this 105 degree heat. However, I can’t use it everyday because it dries out my skin if I do.

I have to use my moisturizing body wash on days I don’t need anything “extra”. I’ve seen a few people complain about the smell, but I don’t think it smells bad AT ALL. The scent is subtle and pleasant.

I’m on my third bottle and it’s been consistently good. For reference, the fragrance is natural, not synthetic and the notes are: top- jasmine, mid- rose and orange flower and bottom- vanilla, Sandlewood and vetiver.

Sounds good, right?! Anyway, I definitely recommend this for after workouts, sweating, if you’re going through body acne or odor, have KP , flaky skin or just need exfoliation. Be sure to moisturize after and if going in the sun, use SPF.

I love the concept of this wash as I have been on a never ending hunt for a gentle, chemically exfoliating body wash for after workouts. This seemed like the perfect answer but I couldn’t even bring myself to try the product because the smell is absolutely revolting.

I was hoping the reviews about the smell were just an exception of personal preference but this is terrible. It literally smells like a nauseating sweet synthetic chemical layer that is desperately trying to mask ELDERLY MUSK.

Like the effect of spraying cheap air freshener over potent odor. I normally love the notes listed here and am drawn to jasmine, specifically. This is the most poorly executed description of a scent profile I’ve ever smelled.

I wouldn’t even want my hands to smell like this, let alone my whole body. It might be an awesome formula but I would 1000X prefer it in unscented then risk filling my shower with this smell.

I was super excited when Kosas launched this product as I have tried the entire range and have a very high hit rate with everything, but sadly this product was a let down for me. I have some skin issues on my body (ingrowns, clogged pores, etc) and have been meaning to try a body wash with skincare benefits to see if it’d help.

This product smells great (like the scented Chemistry deodorant but less acidic, think a nondescript tangy-musky-citrus-sandalwood) and I love that the smaller bottle has gone very far considering I’ve been using only this product to wash my body for 3 months, 5 days a week, and I still have some left.

That said, I’ve seen no changes to the quality or health of my skin, if anything it’s gotten worse, so I feel let down that there hasn’t been any sort of benefit. I keep hoping it’ll suddenly start working better for me, but now that the bottle is almost gone I have to acknowledge that I won’t be repurchasing.

I hope Kosas makes a lotion or perfume in this scent in the future, though, as I love how gender neutral it is and would love to get my fragrance hit some other way!.

I’ve been a fan of the almond scrub bar for a while now, and I was thinking that I wouldn’t be too interested in this bar. I tried it and what do you know! I loved it!! I still think I prefer the almond scent, but this bar works just as well and is a nice change of scenery when I’m tired of the old one.

The nubs feel nice (I do wish they’d last longer but all great soaps must come to an end) and the scratchy exfoliant pieces get my skin feeling nice and fresh! The shea smell is pleasant and a less potent than the hand creams so all around, I definitely would recommend this bar!!!.

I received this soap as a complimentary gift for preferred customer. I love the scent. Rich lathering and very frothy. Leaves the skin smooth and moisturized. However the size of the soap is too big for my hands.

Love the idea of the bumps, which can help massage during shower if you apply this soap directly on your skin, but again due to its large size, I ended up using shower ball instead.

I bought this because I love the Shea scent. This does not smell like the Shea line like I thought it would. I don’t like how it smells. It’s very painful to use straight on the skin. It’s way too abrasive.

I’m pretty disappointed.

I am sensitive to many things and have become more sensitive over time. I kept eliminating things that were problematic and my choices also became more limited. I had been trying to use Dr, Bronner’s unscented soap for my hair and body, but have never done well with hemp in any form and it irritated my scalp and more delicate parts, so I kept looking.

I am very glad to have found this product. It works, cleans well, and rinses well, with no residue and no irritation. It also seems to last, similar to soaps that are “hard milled. ” I’m so glad I found it and that Vitacost has it available.

One reviewer commented that the circular shape was problematic because it didn’t fit in her rectangular soap dish and it didn’t fit in mine, either. I knew I wanted to protect it from water because I use it in the shower, so I did a search on Amazon for “soap container” and found some nice round plastic soap boxes that were the perfect size to hold this bar of soap, so I was able to accomplish everything I wanted by getting some of those (there were 4 in a package and I had bought 4 bars of this soap).

First of, I love the small of this soap. It smells soft, with a very light, fresh perfume scent. I mainly bought it for my body. I have a lot discoloration throughout my entire body. After 3 days of using this soap, I started seeing an instant glow to my skin.

My wasn’t as dull looking as it was and i started seeing the discoloration disappearing. I would highly recommend this product. Makari has the best products. Hands down!!!!😌.

The Makari Exclusive Active Intense Exfoliating Soap truly exfoliate and renew the skin. After a consistent use for a while, I begin to receive complement for a brighter skin.

Didn’t get a chance to use yet, so, can’t say. Terrible customer service though for such a pricey product.

I love this soap. have purchased several bars multiple times now. It is a great exfolient and I use it mainly on areas where I wax and have a tendency to get ingrown hairs. It seems to keep them away as much as using an exfoliating glove.

This soap has a beautiful scent and is the best exfoliating soap I have used. I love the way my skin feels after a bath.

This is my favorite French soap so of course I will give it 5 stars. The soap smells really good, the bar feels good when you rub it all over yourself in the shower bc of the exfoliating bits of Argan nut shells in the bar, it doesn’t dry my skin out, and as long as you stand the bar up or don’t let it sit in water, it should last longer than a typical bar of Ivory soap would.

So I do recommend it.

I mean that in a good way. Noir scents (Bar soap, Body wash, Body Spray, Lotion) is what tend to use for nightlife events such as dates, clubs, or just watching the game at the bar. No matter where I go, what’s that smell? I should be paid for every time I told someone, I got my soap from Bath and Body.

Noir needs a Cologne just like Teakwood :-), The smell is perfect smoked vanilla and Egyptian musk brings out a great scent on us Men. My Daughter loves the smell so much she tries to use my body spray.

Pleasantly surprised. Usually, bars of soap are so drying, leaving your skin with a tight feeling. I have found the bars do not do that. When the soap gets wet it creates a nice gooey lather from the Shea butter and leaves your skin feeling amazing with high fragrance.

The scent is very nice. It’s a manly scent. Has a nice cologne vibe and scent to it. Perfect for any male in your life, or if you’re just in to the scent use it. Lol nice on the skin as well.

I LOVE the Charcoal scent so much I purchased a three wick, votive, bar soap and hand sanitizer. It’s smoky and reminiscent of a cabin or campfire in the northern woods-but not too smoky. It’s hard to put into words, but it smells great and is perfect for men or women.

One should note that the charcoal actually turns black when it lathers so be careful not to splash it on anything. I had black spots all over my shower curtain. It will easily wash out, but be careful to keep it in the tub.

I just wish the other products were not so expensive. I had my hours cut in half due to covid so I can’t afford to try other scents. They should offer a cheap sample pack, even if just scent on paper so you know what you are purchasing.

It’s lovely. A nice change. Moisturizing and the fragrance is intoxicating, and sensual. It’s just what I was hoping for. Thank you
