20 Best Soap For Skin Allergies (2023 Updated)

One evening while shopping for soap at wally world I was looking for bars of Ivory soap that I used for decades. They didn’t have any Ivory but they had Kirks. I picked up a pack, gave it a sniff and was impressed with the clean scent.

I used it in the shower and was surprised at how well it lathered up and the thickness and creaminess of the lather. It rinsed clean leaving nothing behind but a pleasant scent. As I dried my skin didn’t dry out and feel tight like I did with Ivory.

I have many scars from surgeries, I’m covered by nickle to quarter sized scars for chickenpox I contracted serving in Korea. I’ve had nerves removed from my face and chest which leave those areas feeling like they are burning and when the skin over those areas dry out it feels like my burning skin is splitting and have hot metal pressed to it.

None of that happened with Kirks. I felt clean, smelled clean, felt refreshed and for the first time in decades my skin over 60% of my body didn’t hurt. My skin didn’t feel stretched and tight. It felt soft and supple.

Imagine this: There’s a place where a large percentage, if not most of the people there, start and /or end each day by diluting parts of dead animals in hot water, and then spreading that greasy, oily mixture over every part of their skin.

Hours later the layer of fat that clings to them starts to smell, so these same people then try to hide or cover the stench by applying deodorants and perfumes. I happen to live in that country, but when as a child I learned that it wasn’t necessary to partake in that gruesome ceremony, I decided to follow a different daily ritual.

Instead of a daily shower with soap, (animal fat), I started using Kirk’s Castile, (coconut oil). What a difference! I felt clean for the first time in my life. I quit using deodorant because it isn’t necessary.

My childhood acne cleared up. People near me noticed and actually said that they like the fragrance that I use. (I learned to just say, “Thanks. ” You’ll learn the same lesson if you start using Kirk’s.

) I never experienced “Squeaky Clean” until I started showering with Kirk’s. Please do me a favor and switch from soap to Kirk’s; I’m tired of smelling dead animals.

This is like the ONLY soap or thing that helps my daughter and her eczema. She gets it so bad on her foot and in some of her creases like elbow, wrists, back of knees. But foot is the worst to the point of bleeding.

Ive been able to help a lot with her foods to avoid flare ups but still this soap is the only thing that when used as instructed actually helps her feel better and not itchy. Sometimes I have to use it 2x a day as instructed.

You should know it prickles and is very uncomfortable during that 5 min but if you can wait it out it is totally worth it. My daughter has been dealing with eczema for more than 1. 5 years and its been a learning journey for sure.

I dont like steroid creams and any medicated creams that mess with natural pH and micro biome. Thats why this surprised me to work so well to actually relieve itch and smooth/moisturize skin.

My new favorite shower bar!! First, I love that this bar does not contain Palm Oil!! Second, I have mild psoriasis and after a week, I can see some improvement. The bar is an exfoliator with tiny grainy specs in it (like the Peach exfoliating bar soap with sea salt).

AND my favorite part… it has a very mild rootbeer smell. Not enough to make my body smell, unfortunately, but enough to catch the smell while showering. Stocking up on my new favorite!!!.

Highly recommend this item and seller. This cleansing bar is super effective in my own personal use ensuring I have the type of skin I am striving for. It took some time to find the perfect product for me but this is it.

Additionally, the product arrived early and in perfect condition. I often find the boxes (for the item not shipping) for these types of items are often in bad shape or have some type of defect that sometimes extends onto the actual purchased item.

My husband is very picky about soap and has sensitive skin. He’s been using the same soap since he was 10 and every time I have him try something new, he hates it. This soap, he didn’t hate. In fact, he loves it.

He says it leaves his skin clean and soft with no weird residue and he likes the scent. His other soap was a commercial brand with all the odd additives, so now I’m stocking up on this one.

This is one of the most amazing exfoliating soaps I’ve ever used. The bar, which is black, is made with fine grains of exfoliating compound that comes off slow and really provides a very firm, nice-feeling exfoliating action on your skin.

It feels wonderful on your back. The bar is also lasting a pretty long time given its size, so it must be quality soap overall. However, I have two main complaints. The first is the price. At $15 per bar, I don’t see how this is economical at all.

Extremely expensive. I guess buy if you think this is an acceptable price? My second complaint is that the exfoliating action is not kind to the genital region and caused some irritation and redness to the extent that I had to stop using this for a spell.

I know you’re not supposed to use exfoliating soap on genital skin, but it’s a bar and it’s hard to keep the stuff away — after all, you have to rinse and wick away the soap, and even this caused me some irritation.

Other than that, if you’re in the market for luxury exfoliating soap and don’t mind the steep price — or, alternatively, if you plan to use only occasionally — seems hard to beat this stuff. It really is an excellent product.

The soaps are great. However, I was deeply disappointed to find that they no longer come with a soap dish, which should be an option when ordering. If you are no longer going to provide the option of requesting a soap dish, why produce such an oddly shaped soap? I stopped buying the large one when I realized it no longer came with a dish.

I converted to the mini soap and was again disappointed. The regular soap is too huge and oddly shaped to fit in any standard container, and the convenience of traveling with the mini is pointless if I still am forced to put it in a generic, regularly sized soap dish.

It’s almost as if you don’t want anyone to buy this product anymore. If this is some part of an eco friendly decision, I think it’ll backfire. Customers will either have to purchase the more wasteful liquid soaps, or buy cheap, poorly made standard travel soap dishes that don’t accommodate the product well anyway.

I know in the past people rightfully complained how wasteful it was to always receive a soap dish. To fully discontinue is a major inconvenience to your customers, however, and a choice should be provided.

This is by far the best cleansing product on the market. I have also used it for over 30 years. My skin is glowing again it contains moisturising ingredients and no other products are the same. It works better with the other two products in the 3 step range and always has.

I can’t express how glad I am to have it back. Unfortunately the down side is the plastic dish it came in wasn’t there when I bought it. I have informed the company I was unable to transport it on my holiday as the dish it came in was quite unique.

No other soap dish on the market fits it. Also the size of the soap has increased. Where the dish used to be is now product, making it larger and very slippery and hard to hold as it’s so big. Please please bring the dish back.

I threw it out as the soap was gone. I informed the company and was told it was to save plastic. There is no way to transport it and it’s hard to hold now. The soap dish also drained it. I currently have it sitting on an upside down soap dish in my shower just so it drains.

To save on plastic we could buy the dish once and then buy cheaper refills. I love the product but it just isn’t as user friendly. The green dish also kept it separate in the shower from body soap and others using.

This is a classic case of paying a greatly inflated price for a premium brand name when equivalent or better soaps can be had for a fraction of the cost. I don’t have sensitive skin but this soap irritated my skin and left my skin uncomfortable after use.

Perhaps it’s the addition of the artificial yellow colouring that has caused this effect? It’s the last item on the list of ingredients. I’ve done a lot of research into and bought a range of soaps recently as a replacement for liquid face washes in plastic containers.

If you do your own research online you can find much better performing and far less expensive soaps – unless you enjoy paying well over the top for the Clinique brand name. Look for genuinely independent reviews and not those copied across from the brand names own website.

I bought this soap to try because it was on a special offer price but no way would I pay this sort of price again for a bog standard soap with bog standard ingredients simply because it comes with a premium brand name.

It’s incredibly good for acne and oily skin. HOWEVER, if used incorrectly it CAN be drying to the skin. It’s best if used with colder water as it’s already fairly strong at stripping your skin from its natural oils.

Also make sure you aren’t washing for too long otherwise that could also harm your skins natural moisture barrier. It’s best if you use it for about 30-60 seconds and you wash in circular motions as one would with any other cleanser for the face.

It’s awful at shaving so I’m not sure as to why they put that purpose in there. It serves well as all the other purposes: as hand soap, a body wash, and a facial cleanser. It also serves well as a good base for a DIY face mask if you don’t feel comfortable using yogurt or honey.

In conclusion: it’s a very good soap as far as acne is concerned HOWEVER it can be quite drying so if you have eczema, prosioas, or dry skin it’s best if you follow up with a coconut or Shea butter moisturizer.

It’s awful at shaving so don’t use it for those purposes.

I love this African black soap line up! They don’t use coconut oil, but they, instead, use palm kernel oil. Don’t ever change this formula! Please, please please! This is the only soap we’ve found in years of searching that my boyfriend can use without having an allergic skin reaction (i.

e. sores all over). He is allergic to the coconut oil used in like 99% of soaps, but not to the palm kernel oil. He’s also allergic to all the fillers and fragrances in most other soaps, but Alaffia keeps it simple in this line.

He can use the unscented and the ones with botanical oils just fine! (Lavender, peppermint, etc). You guys have our business for life if this formula stays the same! Love! I love this product so much. It’s my favorite body wash permanently! I’ve tried other soaps and even other African black soaps. I have sensitive skin that’s not particularly dry. I’ve tried dove and every other natural soap on the shelves.

I found African black soaps smell amazing but they’re a bit hard to use and I feel like it ends up wasting itself. I love this unscented liquid form. I used to even use it as shampoo! It worked well but it tangled my hair a little.

I use this as a body wash and it’s even been safe to use for feminine parts. It also is a great shaving cream! It’s a body wash so nourishing I don’t have to moisturize as much after. I love the smell of the unscented smell if that makes sense, it’s intoxicating! And this brand helps women in West Africa as well as they provide this fantastic gift to us!.

It states it helps calm and relax, while moisturizing your skin. Anything that supports stress relief and is appreciated, especially lately. I purchased this online so I did not have a chance to smell it before buying.

Had I had the chance to smell it first, I would not have bought it. I was aware of it being scented, of course, but this product is extremely scented. It’s very strong and I imagine that’s because the scent is what is the ‘stress relief’? If you like strong scents this product is for you.

I was hesitant to try this as it is not within my regular go to scents for soaps and body wash but I have to admit it was surprising very light and refreshing. Not being a lavender fan in general I actually like this nice blend that is relaxing and calming.

The size of the bottle makes it a bit awkward. It takes up the entire corner of the bathtub and is heavy. The pump style dispenser does save some aggravation as you can generally dispense one handed without lifting.

The texture is a cross between a lotion and a regular body wash. Thicker and creamier. Great to use on a loofah or washcloth. My skin is very sensitive in that I tend to break out in dermititis about a month after finding a soap that I THOUGHT would suit me. So far so good with this soap. It does tend to dry out my skin but if you have that issue you can always use some moisturiser after.

I bought this because of the great reviews and Fragrance free. Now I do have sensitive skin – but not dramatically sensitive. I can quite usually tolerate a lot of creams and soaps for normal skin. But THIS – immediately burned when I soaped my ears and private parts! I went thru the two bars I bought – but had to use something else to cleanse these areas.

Even if the suds dripped into these areas – immediate burn. I cannot understand all the good reviews and no one else mentioning this. Never again!.

I bought this initially as I have very dry winter skin. I found that it just wasn’t moisturizing enough for a shower bar. I put it back in the box. With the recent hand washing recommendations, I decided to bring it back out to place on my kitchen counter.

I use it multiple times a day and it is great. Lathers great. Smell is citrus but doesn’t overpower. And best of all, it doesn’t dry my hands out! I keep it on a plastic scrubber so it can dry between uses.

I love CeraVe. I’ve tried about every cleanser and the foaming pulp cleanser and the hydrating cream to foam are my favorites, but seeing how I work in environmental health I’ve been trying to switch to more sustainably packaged things so I tried the bar version and it comes packaged in solely the box (no plastic) and the product is great! Perfect for travel works as well as the foaming.

Of course if you have make up on remove that with an oil cleanser first, but it’s great!! I travel with just one bar for the face and body and it’s one less thing to bring or worry about spilling in your luggage.

I have been experiencing Eczema very badly on my hands from all the hand sanitizer I’ve been using now for a year. I wanted to see if this soap would help me in any way possible, because a break out is miserable, my hands itch so bad.

I bought 1 bar at first to give it a try. I thought if it helped out I would buy some more. I am still using the first bar, it does seem to last quite awhile, and my hands have been so much better. I had went to the doctor prior to finding this soap, and he prescribed a cream to use once a day for when my hands break out with the rash and itching.

Since I’ve started to use this soap, I have only had to use the cream once or twice, but the itching has been so much less than it was and the nasty rash has not been back. I recently ordered 3 more bars so I have them on hand when my first bar is gone.

I have tried other glycerin soaps but I really love this brand because of its quality, more natural ingredients and how soft it leaves my hands. I wash my hands very often and it’s gentle enough that it doesn’t dry my skin or cause any irritations.

I have been using this product for over 25 years and never had any issues, until now. The packaging is different and that is not an issue, but the formula appears to be altered. The soap as it is being used, gets real slimy and difficult to handle.

After bathing, I notice my skin feeling super tight, dry, and within an hour, itchy. This has never occurred with other scents, currently using French Lavender. Also, really can’t smell the lavender.

The variety of scents is one of the pleasures of this soap. So, I am disappointed in the decrease of choice – both at stores and online. I miss the Lilac, Jasmine, and almond. Good to see that the Lemon, Cucumber, Honeysuckle, and even the Berry, are still available.

Was there ever a Coconut or Vanilla? I prefer to avoid Amazon. I will continue to keep my eyes peeled for this product at my favorite local stores, and online sources. For now I do enjoy my Unscented Clearly Natural Glycerine Soap.
