20 Best Soap For Poison Ivy (2023 Updated)

I already have bars of this soap in the kitchen and the bathrooms – wouldn’t be without it. I’ve always had some contact reactions to things which grow in the yard, not necessarily poison ivy, oak or sumac.

If I make contact with anything I expect can cause a skin reaction – I hate gardening gloves – I run inside and immediately scrub my hands and arms – failure to do so can result in a rash of some sort.

This stuff works. I like the idea of the travel bag which is why I bought another bar (I have 3 open bars already) I used to walk the dogs in local parks – until my vet told me that the flea and tick counts at all of those parks were much higher than they had been; so washing after returning from those walks was important since we were often off the usual walkways.

I thought that carrying a bar along in the car might be a better idea. This is a terrific and simple product and would make a great although possibly bewildering stocking stuffer.

I like that this product has a lot of natural ingredients. I haven’t personally used it but I have heard it works pretty well at preventing you from getting poison ivy. sunlight bar soap and Dawn liquid dish soap also work very well.

This soap works for poison ivy & other skin irritations like bug bites. It works very quickly to take the itch away. I’ve never tried another soap for poison ivy, but will be buying another bar to stay up at camp.

Maries Poison Ivy/Sumac Soap works as described. I own a large farm with several employees and some are very allergic to poison ivy. I keep this soap in stock and we all use it when we get infected. Instant relief of itching which helps stop the spreading and within a day or two no signs we ever got in it.

Do waist your money on knockoffs. In todays world, everybody on the net wants to sell you something that most of the time doesnt work. This product absolutely works and it always has. I have been using it for 10 years and it has never failed.

Marie’s Soap is effective at relieving my English Ivy infection. I had skin rashes on my arms and those over-the-counter Itch creams didn’t relieve it. It saved me a visit to the doctor. Since English Ivy still grows in my yard, I would buy Marie’s again.

I have purchased this soap before. It does exactly what it says. Its great. I bought this soap for my nephew. He has his own landscaping business and was planning on working getting rid of poison ivy and oak.

The soap came at a great time. He was able to get the job done and no breaking out the next day.

Pretty sure it’s just making it worse. I was exposed to poison ivy on Monday and didn’t know. At some point Tuesday I began to get the early stages of a rash. I knew immediately and went out to buy this product.

In fact I bought the scrub, the lotion or whatever and I bought Zanfel, a similar product. It’s now a week since my exposure to poison Ivy and I have a rash on every appendage. I have been using all 3 products 3 times a day each.

Usually I at the itchiest hours right in the morning evening and before bed. I caught myself starting to itch I would go to the bathroom and apply. My rash has spread to areas of my body that I know were not exposed to the plant.

My son got a really bad poison ivy infection. Every day he would find more blisters and itched horribly. This wash helped to dry his blisters. He needed a prednisone course because it kept spreading.

He got blisters in between fingers and couldn’t close them. He used this scrub and it seems to have caused blisters to vanish leaving scabs. I think with the spreading he had to have had the oil somewhere so he used the scrub and the blisters stopped coming out.

The itch subsided. He works part-time as bartender so needs to slough off those scabby remnants. Going to use remainder of scrub on hands and forearms.

It has grittiness that feels good to scratch the itch. It creates little cuts in the skin which allows the oils to drain however the soap to wash away the oils needs improvement. I felt like it spread after I used it the first time.

I had poison ivy for a couple days before I bought this product so maybe I didn’t get it in time. The first time I used it the itching was relieved but it seemed to spread out. The price was less than half of the price of zanfel and you get 4oz compared to 1oz of zanfel so I thought I would give it a try and if it worked well then I would switch products and save money.

I think I will stick with the zanfel next time because with each use it was a noticeable reduction of severity. With this product it seems to be spreading and the spots seem more red and inflamed. The good: Itch relief Price Helps to drain The bad: Doesn’t rinse oils well which may cause them to spread.

Maybe if you could combine this product with some home remedy to remove the oils better then you would have a winning combination for a cheaper price than zanfel. Dawn dish soap maybe I dunno.

I’m highly allergic to poison ivy. I’ve used tecnu for years now. It’s the only product that I know of that can completely remove the poison ivy oil from the skin. It works best if you use it before the rash starts.

In other words if there’s a chance you came in contact with poison ivy, then use this product immediately. Don’t wait for the rash. However, I have also used it after the rash starts to develop. It doesn’t instantly take the rash away, but it stops the rash from spreading or getting worse.

Once the PI oil has been removed, your skin will begin healing right away, and will start showing signs of the rash diminishing as soon as the following day. I like this large size container. It lasts several years.

when you consider how much relief it provides, it’s a tremendous bargain.

Attempts to wash the oil off can sometimes result in it getting in to the skin even worse. You don’t use this product to treat a rash brought on by poison ivy or poison oak, you actually use it to avoid getting a rash or a reaction.

Let’s say you are out camping and one of the kids chases a ball or something in to a wooded area, or your dog wanders off the path and you find that where they were there is some poison oak, or poison ivy.

You put this on the skin right away and it will eat away at that oil that causes the irritation. That way the skin never gets irritated and you don’t get a reaction and you are not stuck being uncomfortable, or having one of your kids or your dog uncomfortable for the rest of your camping trip, or you don’t have to worry about itching and looking awful after a hike.

You may or may not have to use this when hiking or camping, but it is good thing to have with you just in case. It really does work. One of my son’s has skin that reacts quickly to these plants, and last time we went camping his cousin chased him in to poison ivy.

I ordered this soap to have up at our summer cottage in Ontario Canada. The reason being is that last summer my niece was up there and got a rash on her leg. By the time she realizdd what she had it spread to her arms and sides of her body.

Sounds like it would be agony to scrub (with multiple large areas on my body with raised welts that are oozing and looking like a third degree burn or something. ) but it actually feels SO good to scrub those areas! The soap gets applied right over the outbreak areas, scrubbing for 30 seconds at least and then rinsing off with the hot water.

People who leave negative often one star reviews complaining about small size of soap for $10 or so, Please het real. You not shopping for a fancy 7oz bar that will last for month or two. This single bar is designed for single use relief from scratching and reducing an outbreak and eventually eradicating it completely.

Try cut it in half, use at once or toss it. The relief alone is worth tenfold. Im buying in bulk for every summer to have on hand. Just like one reviewer stated earlier hot water+intense scrubbing does the trick especially at bad outbreak.

However is good to use every time when you suspect you got in contact with poison.

I come in contact with poison Oak, Ivy, or Sumac at least once a year. Always ending in one of those good old ER trips for steroid pills or shot. My husband came across zanfilm a few years ago while looking for a product to help with one of my worst cases I’ve ever had of sumac my eyes were swelled shut my cheeks were huge and I thought I was feeling my throat close up but that also could have just been me panicking to I blister really bad when I’m exposed to sumac and it’s very painful and it takes a long time for me to heal the first time I tried zenfelt I wanted to cry because it was almost immediate relief.

Sometimes my recovery process could take up to two + weeks. With zanfel I can be rid of all symptoms pretty much within 5 days or less I’m not playing when I say this stuff is amazing. The company and the people who work for it are awesome and so helpful I’m just so glad that we happened upon it because we are firm believers we recommend this product to any and everyone who will listen.

Why are doctors not telling their patients about this product? Tecnu WORKS! Wash within the recommended time (and all you need is Tecnu and a dry washcloth to pour it on) and you NEVER need to SUFFER from this fierce rash AGAIN! Being an avid morel (mushroom) hunter and intrepid explorer of all things outdoors, I used to stop my activities when the poison ivy emerged, but with Tecnu on hand, I now wade through thigh high plants without care! Tecnu is the best, and Gempler’s has the best price I’ve found! I would buy it by the gallon if I could.

I used this in conjunction with the Tecnu Anti-Itch spray for a rash that seemed like poison ivy. Granted I didn’t use this right away but more to stop the spread of my existing rash and hope to provide some relief, it didn’t stop it from spreading but did provide temporary relief.

I would still recommend it for poison ivy (the docs were never able to figure out what I got into) but if the rash doesn’t go away, see a doctor! This cleanser can be used in your laundry too if you think you have some of the oils on your clothes — an added bonus!.

My legs frequently itch to the point of keeping me awake at night. It’s worse after saving. I’ve used multiple different remedies, up to and including eczema creams and oatmeal baths. If this soap isn’t meant for eczema sufferers, that’s understandable and should be taken into account when reading this review.

However, I’m not certain eczema is the problem here. I do suffer from eczema from time to time but when it comes to my legs, there’s no visual evidence of eczema and not many over the counter lotions meant for eczema offer relief.

I was super excited to try this soap, hoping it would accomplish what so many other products could not. Sadly to say, the soap did not help the itch. Perhaps this soap is targeted more towards bug bites and obvious rashes with a clear cause such has poison ivy.

I am super prone to mosquito bites, so I figured “might as well give it a shot” when I saw it. I got it in the day after a bonfire where I had gotten several mosquito bites on my knuckles. Firstly it’s annoying to use because the directions say to let the lather sit on your hands for five minutes and if it doesn’t work, do it again and let the lather dry on your hands.

I didn’t bother with the second time because it made my hands feel so dry and disgusting. AND I was just as itchy as when I had started. Ended up throwing it out.

My,,,,advice is to have it ready. The faster,,,you notice that you have be in contact,,,ZANFIL,,,,goes to remove the oil,,,that causes the reaction. My last contact,,,early spring ,,,was very severe,,,ZANFIL,,,cleared it up in two days.

INCREDIBLE! 6 weeks ago I was taken down by SYSTEMIC poison ivy. Not able to go to the Dr for the normal steroids, I suffered for 3 whole weeks before discovering Zanfel. It started on 1 arm in 1 little spot.

And spread every single day for 3 weeks. I had oozing, painful blisters up both arms, my back, stomach, both legs and even my face! I finally came across a Zanfel ad. Checked it out locally and good lord is it expensive!! $60 for a tiny little tube.

So so sooooo grateful to those selling it on here for a third of the price. Zanfel will NOT stop systemic poison ivy from spreading. Drinking strong nettle tea 3 times a day is what finally stopped the spreading for me personally.

Then Zanfel came to the rescue and dried up every single oozing patch! I needed to do it twice for most areas and the worst spots required a 3rd use. But I’ve been healing up beautifully ever since! I think by this time next week, there will hopefully be no sign at all that this ever happened.

Zanfel Poison Ivy Relief worked for me. I have only used it once since I broke down and paid the $22 for 1 oz tube. I had a itchy red patch on my arm after gardening about 7″ by 2″. I’ve had enough poison ivy to be pretty sure I had been hit yet again.

Followed the directions on the box, scrubbed the area well and got about 6 hours of relief. Repeated the application and followed up the next day 2 more times as needed. As needed means just when it started to itch again I applied Zanfel.

I never broke out completely and it got so much better I went to cheaper Calaclear Lotion for the next 2 days. Seemed to do the trick. Never broke out. Use as directed. I tried to apply it to a wash cloth and rubbing it in once but it was not near as effective as using the hands.

If you want to avoid the 2 to 3 weeks of poison ivy misery apply Zanfel early as often as needed. I’m a believer.
