20 Best Snowboards For All Mountain (2023 Updated)

It does it all!!!!! There is no stopping this board. Super responsive, playful, and super fun to ride.

I’m 6’2, 200lbs, size 11 boots, and rode the 155 Ride Peace Seeker. This is a volume shifted board meant to be ridden quite a bit smaller than your usual board. Typically, I ride +160 boards, so the 155 felt quite a bit smaller.

However, it was quite damp and smooth for it’s size. My only struggle was the width under the back foot – I felt like my boots dragged a bit on hard carves. Ideally, I’d like to ride this board in a slightly bigger size, around a 158.

Sheesh. I ripped this first thing in the morning with some stiff bindings (Ride A-8) on some pristine groomers. Beyond fast, put it on edge and let it take off. It didn’t like skidding around or taking it easy, but lord could it carve.

The big nose and setback means it’d float pretty dang well too! Not for the faint of heart, or the days when you’re feeling casual up there. One of my favorites. 5’11 @ 160 lbs, 151 was perfect.

The Ride Peace Seeker is a slick directional board, being 5’2′ and 125 in weight I rode the 142 cm. This fish lookin board will excel in powder as well as ripping on groomers and all mountain. Since this board has a long nose with a gentle rocker in the tip (20 mm in taper), camber centered near the rear binding insert and a shorter half moon tail, the shape is going to give you the perfect set up for powder, sending the nose up and keep the end of the board stable with the half moon tail.

This board also rips on groomers and as well for carving.

I’m a 6’4 190 Lb aggressive all-mountain freestyle rider, and got to ride this beast from Capita in the 157W. I had known it long before it was ever strapped to my feet because of its somewhat cult-like following within the Capita snowboarding galaxy but getting to actually ride it validated so many of the things I had heard.

First of all, I think the 157W (11. 5 Rome Libertine boots) was probably shorter than I’d ride this board if I bought it, because of that I think I don’t have necessarily the most accurate perception of its flex.

That being said, even in a size a tad short for me this thing was an absolute tank at speed on-trail and when I say “at speed” I really mean it, this base is one of the fastest I’ve ever ridden. The top-end speed the BSOD offers and it’s flat-to-rocker section in the tail allowed me to boost rollers and cat tracks, unlike many boards I’ve ridden before.

In the shorter size, I could press it fairly easily, to the point I’d call it somewhat playful, because of that it didn’t handle the off-trail hardpack as well as I woulda expected but I chalk a lot of that up to it being on the smaller side for me.

At my size, I think one of the iterations in the 160s would be a bit more rigid to really fit its bill as an all-terrain, all-conditions bomber. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to see what this board is all about and would highly suggest it to anyone who’s trying to hit Mach1 whenever they hit the slopes.

Probably the closest I’ve seen to a true quiver killer. I ride fast and like getting from edge to edge quick so I was a bit concerned about the flex rating as “medium” and the larger waist width. I’m about 185lb size 10.

5 boot and I went with the 162, it feels much stiffer than I expected and it’s pretty quick edge to edge. I suspect the bigger waist width is due to the bump of the death grip in the middle, so it rides a bit narrower.

Not the most nimble in tight trees but it rips groomers and chunder like no other, has good pop for rollers or jumps, and a good amount of float in the pow. If I had to get another I might go with the 159 for better park performance, but even at 162 it’s not terrible at all.

Verdict. best board I’ve ever ridden!.

I’ve been putting off buying this board long enough and finally put in a pre order. Rode my homies Black Snowboard of Death last season and it carved like butter!

I´m a german snowboarder, riding mostly in Austria Alps but i was in riding in Colorado too in the past. Coming from my NS Titan 169 wich was my favourite Snowboard and is an very strong and stable full camber board to the Proto FR 164 i can only say that this board is a blast.

It only took a few runs for me to get it in my head that a hybrid snowboard is more agile but can still be as stable fullcamber. You get so much pressure from the camber pockets, is nimble at any speed and also absolutely stable when straightlining it on groomers.

I was able to improve my speed record in this area from 108kph (NS Titan) to 115kph (NS Proto), i wished always the groomer is steeper to get even faster. You can relax at highest speed with the triple camber, I can really feel this board has no speed limit it will always be stable.

The agility at any speed level make the ride even safer too because you can evade faster if unforeseen situations arise. Also I could fly over ice and small moguls and can manouvering easy between big moguls.

Shape, dampness, carbon and mechanics are all working well together that you get an absolute smooth ride. I could pressure the board harder then any board i had ever ridden withoud loosing an edge, especially in icy conditions, incredible.

I outperformed each snowboarder and skidriver all day long with a large speed excess what is normal very difficult in the afternoon when the slope conditions are terrible. Unfortunately there was no deep snow yet but I think it would work in pow great too, I am looking forward to it.

This board is so sick. I’ve been able to ride this board in icy conditions, hardpack, slush, and powder and this board is fun to ride in every condition I’ve put it through. The board is stiff and very damp which makes it easy to hard charge down the mountain.

You can tell the board is doing you a lot of favors absorbing everything under your feet. The general feeling of this board is locked-in and confident. The edge hold really is fantastic. It gives you so much confidence in your edges without giving you that twitchy or catchy feeling at all.

This board also loves to ride powder. In 12 inches of powder and without any extra binding setback the board floats great with very little effort. I found myself adding a little bit of extra weight to my back-foot if I didn’t have enough speed.

In powder this board feels a bit more surfy than normal but still pretty precise. As is the common theme, it loves to go fast. I would recommend this board for anyone that loves to charge down the mountain, lay down hard carves and hunt powder in the same day.

I would not recommend this board for beginners because of how stiff it is and how fast it wants to go. I would also not recommend this for park riding.

For the past 6 years (250 days) I have been riding the NS Cobra and absolutely love it! This season I treated myself to the Proto FR 161x and was amazed with its performance on day 1. I have now ridden the board 7x in different conditions.

Living in the east conditions are frequently hard packed. I instantly noticed the nose and tail had no chatter at high speed. The comfort level at high speed was very impressive over my Cobra. My top speed on my cobra was 62MPH and I think this year I will crack that on the FR with ease.

The board also felt as if it had a larger range of contact to the snow, resulting in more edge grip. In slick conditions (icy) the board gave me more confidence that it would not slip out from under me without notice.

I rode 4 runs on fresh snow (only 4 inches) and it was very smooth and fast. Overall this board is very playful in the bumps and pops very well so you can easily double over bumps. I’ll be at Copper MTN in February and cannot wait to put this board in the woods on some fresh pow, drop some rocks and torpedo down some groomers.

My daughters also love their new NS boards, proto mini and an Infinity,.

This is only the second board I have purchased and am super happy with it. This board was a massive improvement over my previous one, feels super stable at high speeds and responds very well. If you’re looking for a solid board to ride in various conditions this one will do the job!.

Went on a trip. Board had a weak spot and got damaged. Glisshop refuses to take it back for repair. So now I have to pay a lawyer to help me. If you have the possibility to buy somewhere else, do it.

I was hesitant on buying this deck. Mainly, because I’m an intermediate and I thought the board would be too aggressive. Well, it’s aggressive but in such a good way. I never thought I could ride at those speeds and feel so stable at the same time.

It’s got pop for days and does a pretty decent job in powder when the bindings are set back. A great choice for an intermediate looking to increase confidence at higher speeds.

Replaced my Custom with this as my allround board, this thing has been fantastic, absolutely playful when you want it to be, slightly less siff than my old board, pops off jumps, boxes, side hits, rollers with ease.

Really predictable when on edge, only drawback is on ice, but I didn’t buy this board to ride on ice. Setback in deep powder keeps me bouyant. 10/10 would buy again.

Broad ride great on snow, I Demo this before I buy so I know what to expect. I give it 3 stars instead of 5 because I expected much better quality control from NS. I bought 2 boards this year, the Swift and this.

Swift came to me in perfect condition, this board was not. There is some rush going on around the edge of the nose and tail of the board. The top sheet has some small chip along the side, and the base got a terrible wax job, I can pass this to my girlfriend who got no idea how to wax board, and with some small guide can do a better job.

NS if you are reading this review just know I love your boards for years and this is the 4th board I bought from you guys and honestly very disappointed. Also, the board came to me via shipping to a store without a bag cover.

I love the board. However, this board was sent to me damaged. I contacted Peter Glenn the next day via phone call from the store it was purchased from and they ask me to send an email along with pics.

This was a week ago 2/23/22. I have still not heard back from them. I paid for a new board, not a damaged one.

I haven’t gotten to try the board out yet, but I loved it out of the packaging. I was looking for a more intermediate-advanced board that allowed me to ride powder but also could use as an all mountain board, too.

I’m existed to give it a try and will update review once I’ve tried it out.

I rode the Capita Navigator on a hardpacked groomer day. I was mostly impressed with how light the board was. Sometimes lightweight boards feel a bit chattery when you get them up to speed but I didn’t notice that with the Navigator.

It was fun to turn and looks like it would be a good choice for days with fresh snow too. I weigh 155lbs and the 158cm Navigator felt pretty good. I could possibly go just a little shorter.

This board is outright incredible. Its extremely fast when bombing, lightning quick edge to edge, and still playful. Its stiff camber, simple but so amazing, wish more boards did this. Given how stiff it is, I thought it wouldn’t be very playful, but was I wrong.

The board turns as fast as you want to and is still very quick when quickly linking turns while being extremely stable when going fast. I would take it into the park, dont see why it wouldn’t be good for that use too.

The only negative is the topsheet clear coat finish scrattches easily, but the scratches aren’t noticeable at all. The topsheet is still like new after a few beatings, very pleased with that. The board is very light which adds to the playfullness.

I thought this board would be similar to the TRice and be unstable and catchy at low speeds, but its not. Even at the lower speeds, the stiffness doesnt get in the way. Overall, highly impressed and this may be the board I ride for the ages!!.

I am very happy with this board. I did a lot of research on a good board to buy and this one definitely lived up to my expectations. The board has a great flex and is beyond light weight. Perfect for an intermediate rider who enjoys riding terrain parks.

Somehow I talked my sister into getting me this board for Christmas since it was like the top board I could think of with the coolest features and tech. The 161W on paper is a tad too short for me at 230 lbs but feels great and handles sweet.

I paired it with some Burton Genesis bindings and it is super comfortable and responsive. I mostly ride all mountain and just love running this board up walls it’s like snowboarding on the moon! It’s fun in all conditions but in deep powder you want to use a setback stance.

It is still super fun in powder. It is controllable on corrugated ice. It makes switch riding super intuitive.

To be quite honest I don’t have much to say. It simply does it all. It’s ultralight and nimble, yet is incredibly stable at high speeds and powers through chunder. It’s stiff enough to carve, yet soft enough to butter and activate pops with ease.

I don’t know what they’re doing at Capita, but this is a board that makes me feel like I can do anything and everything on the mountain. I’m 5’6″ and 130 pounds, so the 156 at first glance I thought would be too big for me.

The fact that it handled as well as it did makes me sure that if i sized it down to the low 150’s I’d have my dream board.

This board is the perfect daily driver. Good flex to make it really fun for butters and rails but I was most impressed with the power it had off jumps and ripping fast groomers. Absolute beast of a board with great performance.

Lighter and slightly stiffer than the normal version, this thing fit my rider style perfectly. Even if you never set foot in the park I highly recommend this board, especially if you love side hits and natural features.

I am 180 cm tall, weight 70 kg and have the size 9 US / 42 EU / 27,5 cm foot size. I like to ride 90% time in the local park, so I know I can go with the smallest size for me which is 152 cm. I have ridden this board in 155 cm as well, which I consider the better one for riding the jumps, and the 152 cm one I liked better with rails.

This board is “mid wide” I would say, compared to some boards, because of the blunted nose and tail. I love this board for freestyle riding. The full camber profile gives me a lot of control, even with the 152 cm board.

I think that this board feels less than flex 6 in the tips, but manages to still have such a good pop for jumping. This board, in size 152, spins so easy and fast which I like to do. I can say that I if I were not so specific with the size, 155 would do just fine as well for me.

I enjoy this board as the main park board to try to progress in the park with new tricks. The sintered base is fast and makes riding park easier for me. This is one of the reasons I opted to upgrade to the Huck Knife from the Salomon Sleepwalker the past season.

I recommend this board for many people. You can have so much fun, if you are up to intermediate rider who wants to progress everywhere in the mountain. This board wanted me to do carving much more than the other park boards I have ridden in the past.

The full camber profile gives you much power!.

So I started out boarding last season and was using older stuff Ride board off OfferUp. The first day I took this board out I realized how much of a difference in quality and maneuverability the Salomon brand offered me.

I truly like I hit a major curve in my confidence and abilities in the slopes. I’d recommend this board to anyone and everyone. Also, the flex on this is very medium and I was able to do butters without feeling as if I compromised stability.

Rails and jumps are a breeze as the board is extremely light.

There’s a reason to the Salomon Huck Knifes success. It’s a ripper when it needs to be yet it’s also playful you want it to do so. Balanced for all mountain fun. It holds a strong edge on the groomers.

It has mid flex for the side hits. Stable at high speeds. It is on the heavier side and you notice when you try to do some twitchy edge to edge transfers. But not bad at all. Overall it’s a classic that can do it all on any mountain.

I have a Flying V from 2017. It’s been beat up pretty good, so I figured it was time to replace it. I thought about going in a different direction, but after I looked at some boards I figured why mess up a good thing right?!? Overall for 2023 the board surface is much nicer, I like the matte black finish, Burton graphics and the bright board bottom.

I went with the Flying V, but you can get the Custom camber style if you prefer that style. For me, someone who has only boarded for about 9 years, I still prefer the Flying V Rocker. I have not gotten this out on the mountain, because I bought it in August! However I am an avid Burton Custom Flying V rider, and when I tell you this is the best All-Mountain snowboard out there, you should just find out for yourself! I will say, if you haven’t invested in the Burton Style bindings, DO IT.

I wasn’t a fan when I first got them, but they have been redesigned, and I’ve come to LOVE The infinite adjustment, nothing beats it.

Awesome! I’ve always had ratchet binding and the change to step on was the best idea I’ve ever had. It’s so simple to set up and no more waiting around at the top of the the ski chairs. Very responsive feel and no foot pains from The old ratchet bindings being too tight.

This set up went perfectly with my new custom board, which I love dearly. From it’s sexy look and design to the way it flexes and carves it’s got it all. This board performed perfectly through every aspect of boarding and even whilst riding the off pist, the board never failed to amaze me.

Best board and set up I’ve ever had.

Very polular this year, Olympic champion’s board. Board material looks very high quality, delicated surface painting. Not used yet, but this is my 3rd Custom, believe it wil keep its classic performance.

The board finally came technically early. I?ve already set my stance up on it, I am running Burton step on bindings this year with DC boots. Excited to run this board all over the mountain this coming winter.

The board itself is gorgeous pictures don?t do it justice. Overall I?m happy with the board and excited to hit the slopes in a few months!.

This is the most fun (almost) full camber deck I’ve been on in years! With it being mostly camber I was surprised with how playful it is around the park. And with death grip between the feet this thing handles carves and going fast with ease.

I spent a lot of time looking at boards and this is just perfect. You can feel confident and controlled, and it’s a good looking board over all. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a board that can do a little bit of everything.

I always wanted a Lib Tech board, so when I finally decided to get one I’m happy to say that I was so pleased with it that I bought 2, a 156cm (they recommend downsizing one notch from your usual length) and a 159cm (my usual is 160cm for most things, Burton Custom X 160, Nidecker Ultralight 160cm and Megalight 163cm are my primes).

I ride Brighton a lot and they have some good tree runs which the 156cm work so well. It feels like it reads my mind sometime as it’s very quick edge to edge in spite of its 267mm waist width. The C2x camber is a first for me and while it requires a slight change to my riding style it was easy to find and integrate its character.

When I ride these boards I feel like an Orca: fast, nimble, powerful and confident that it will deliver run after run. With all the features Lib Tech builds into this deck it’s no wonder it’s an all mountain apex predator.

Serious and playful just like the animal its named after. I ended up getting the 159cm as I wanted a little more stability at higher speeds than the 156cm could give. Float is no problem even at 156cm.

I paired both of them with Burton Genesis bindings and seems to be a pretty good match, both are 7 of 10 on stiffness scale. There is a reason this is one of Lib Techs top sellers: Because it simply is one of the best decks for powder and beyond.

Now, I bought the 156cm in early season at regular retail price at local board shop (sorry Backcountry), However I picked up the 159cm recently at Backcountry when they went on sale for $520. I was happy with that but now that it’s down to $455 you would be a fool to let this gem pass you by.

This is the first volume shifted board I have ever road and I am sold! I was stoked to try out this board after hearing all the hype over the last few years. Unfortunately the season here in Utah has been a little bit dry so I never had the pleasure of trying this guy in powder, but I have to say it is still fun as can be on icy night riding groomers at Brighton Resort.

Mervin’s Magne-Traction technology is a game-changer. Unreal edge hold and quick turn initiation. Since this is a volume shifted board be sure to size down a few cm from your regular board size. My daily driver is a 143cm so I opted for the 139cm in the Orca and it felt right on point.

Although it is a stiff board I didn’t find it to be too aggressively stiff for myself. If you have been thinking about it. do it.

I got to ride a 153 and `156 on back-to-back-to-back pow days. My nose sank on the 153 but the 156 was perfection. Very often would my friends be slowing down or getting stuck in the fresh pow (one friend rides a 159 2020 Gnu Mullair).

The Orca glides like a boat over the deep heavy stuff. It carves like a dream on all types of terrain. My only negative would be the short tail (which, for a designated pow board, is almost a requirement).

I found it hard to land my jumps due to the short tail. Usually I like to butter my tail down for a soft pillowy landing but this was tough to do. Another “negative” would be seeing so many of these on the mountain.

But it’s definitely a fun time when you squad up with an Orca pod in the lift lines. The Orca call: EEEEEEEEEEEEEE-OOOOOOOOOOOHHH-EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!.

Have had a lot of fun with this board. Rode it on pretty much all conditions. Have not tried it in the park yet. Performs very well in trees. Actually pretty stable at speed despite riding it at a 151.

Poppy and really forgiving on jumps. Butters easily as well. Took it into deep powder and although it didn’t perform as easily as a powder board l, it didn’t do bad either. My favorite part is the weight.

This board is so light you can basically do anything you want with it with very little effort.

Climbed Hood on July 4th. Top was frozen rodents. Then dropped into ski area, Palmer firm scratchy corduroy, Magic Mile soft corduroy and lumpy slurpees. I’ve owned a 168w Flagship that I cracked recently and I wanted something bomber for summer volcano hikes.

I also own a 172 Prior MFR. I bought the MTN Pig 164wide, shortest board I’ve purchased in 20 years. I digress, my one long run with the Ride MTN Pig was great. Board is very damp, didn’t turn the frozen rodents into powder but felt controlled.

The long sidecut on the firm groom was a blast, arcing big turns at warp speed really fun. It was almost playful at the bottom to, slashy with effort. I have Jones Mercury bindings set pretty far back, size 12 stiff boots.

6′ 2″, 180 pounds, old but still into it. Great board.

I love everything about this board, however I wasn’t able to enjoy it to the fullest extent because I had the 142 (my usual sizing). Because of the wide profile of the twin pig it was much harder to control.

When I saw the 136 for sale on Evo I decided to size down to optimize my riding experience and it was well worth it. The shipment was good and on time, I guess the only downside of the Twinpig is the price.

It is moderately expensive, but overall this is a great board.
