20 Best Snowboard Boots For Beginners (2023 Updated)

This boot is so responsive its like cheating. I am a fan of stiff boots having rode with the all leather ions before, but this boot hugs my foot perfectly with the double ion system and is a joy to carve on.

I hiked up to the top of Jupiter Peak and they were comfortable walking up the steep grade. I recommend getting the liner heat molded, as the break in time for these boots was about 3 days of riding.

Great lightweight flexible boots! Felt good riding today and having the BOA makes gearing up quick (had the usual string pull system before). Could also adjust my shoe midrun quickly. As usual with all boots takes a while to break in so prepare yourself for pain the first few sessions haha.

Loosens up nicely.

Have had problems with ensuring I have comfy feet when riding. Headed to Evo Seattle-bought first pair of Ions with custom footbeds which didn’t workout- footbeds began peeling apart an at the end of the day boot size was wrong also.

Drew sales rep was super knowledgeable and helped find the right boot an made some new custom footbeds at no charge. Fantastic customer service – and amazing new comfy boots. Evo is def go to company for gear an service ! Can’t beat the Burton Ions either.

I am just a casual rider, but I finally took the (expensive) plunge and invested in Burton step on boots and bindings, and I am never going back. This will transform your experience. SO much of my middle age rapid exhaustion on the slopes is because of the incessant up and down required with strap bindings, not to mention my frequent wiping out off the lifts (don’t judge).

It took just a little getting used to, but this binding set up gives you so much more control and feel while riding, coming off the lifts, and getting on and off the board. You also don’t have to drag the board with one leg through the lift line, which is amazing.

The men’s size 10 boot will fit on the women’s large step on binding. Hail to all the moms who ride??.

This is my boot of choice. Everything about this boot is built for longevity and high performance riding. The shell has tons of extra abrasion resistant material to combat wear from binding straps and board edges while on the lift, has extra reinforcement on the back stay, and the cup at the heel keeps your highback from digging in and wearing holes in your boot.

The Performance liner is slightly denser and more supportive than the Team liner in the Lashed boot giving it a longer lifespan. The sole also has a different foam than the Lashed which is better at absorbing impacts.

I received my first pair of Thirty-Twos last season from a friend. My shoe size is usually a W 7. 5-8; my first pair of Thirty-Two’s was an 8. 5 black pair of lace-up Thirty-Twos. My toe was ramming against the front, uncomfortable but doable for one season.

I finally had the extra money to spend on a new pair, I got a 9 in these, and they fit PERFECTLY! So I suggest you size up at least a full size up or half a size up. It’s worth upgrading to BOA, it’s super easy to adjust, and the lining is sooo warm.

I can’t wait to ride in these this week!.

I have a wider foot and been trying to find the right wide boot for years. In the past I have had Burton Wide boots, but they always hurt my feet. The Salomon Dialogue Wides were perfect right out of the box.

Snug fit but comfortable, and no pain. Once they broke in a little more, they are probably the most comfortable boot I have worn. If you have a wide foot and finicky about boot fit, these are definitely worth a try.

The Boa lacing works as you would expect and you can get these boots surprisingly tight if you so desire. I am a fan of the dual Boa to dial in the fit top vs. bottom as I like a snug fit on my shin, but a little loser in the foot area.

The only issue I had is the boots are a bit on the softer side for me. To compensate for this, I laced them up very tight which created a hot spot on my one ankle in a small gap between the tongue and liner.

When I loosened them, this seemed to go away, so I attribute this more to over-tightening vs. fit. I am going to look for other wide options that are stiffer, but these are staying around till I find something better.

I’ve been renting snowboarding boots for the past three seasons and have been wanting to buy my very own. At first, I was very hesitant to get my own boots because of the low level of comfort I felt with rental boots (I was thinking if all boots are the same and if it’s even worth it).

But I finally decided to get one after reading so many reviews, and I must say, this has been the most comfortable snowboarding boots I’ve ever worn and I can’t wait to snowboard with them! I had a little trouble with the sizing at first (since I’m used to my rental size.

If your rental boots is size 6, size one up. Size 7 is perfect for me in this design. ) so I had to issue a size exchange, and their customer service was an excellent help! I was amazed at how smooth my interaction with them was! This purchase was worth it!.

I bought these for my 13 yo son and they have been great! He really likes the light weight and his feet don’t get cold. Ride boots are certainly worth the money and these are at a great price. Sun and Ski was great during the purchase as well – I like supporting a Local company and have had nothing but great experiences at my store in Charlotte.

Fantastic boots. I got the white ones as part of a bundle and they look great up there on the mountain. The design stands out in the snow and has a sneaker look to it. Never came untied throughout my shredding.

They did come a little loose after about 6 or 7 hours of boarding but I figure that happens with all shoes. A quick 3-minute retightening fixed the issue. Great pair of boots.

A friend of mine, my bother, and me all bought these boots. We measured our feet and followed the size chart to pick the size, but they were off by about 2 cm for all of us according to the chart. All 3 of us went up in size by 2 cm according to the Mondo size chart My bother wears a size 9.

5 mens shoe. He ordered a 7. 5 based off the chart but it was way too small. He ended up fitting in a 9. 5, same as his shoe. I wear a size 12 shoe and ended up changing to a size 11. 5 boot. I had some room to spare and possibly could have made an 11 work.

The “focus Cuff” technology to prevent heel lift destroys the “sweet spot” on the inside of my ankles. I’ve spent 3 seasons trying to love these all-mountain boots, but they are not too kind in return.

Blister after Blister in the same spot, I’m finally hanging these up. Tried different sock thicknesses and different lacing/strapping combos. Tried them touring numerous times, they destroyed me. Tried resort riding and a little side country boot packing, destroyed me.

Tried just some strictly resort riding and I can make it through a few days, but still get tender in the sweet spot if I’m at it a few days in a week. Besides this I really do enjoy the boot, Lightweight, Comfortable, quick lacing, but all the pro’s are outweighed by the con from how bad these boots blister.

Even after I get a callus there, i’ve had it erode and blister through it. Maybe its just me and I got fat ankles, maybe I broke these in touring and side country boot packing so when I tried to peel back to just strictly resort, they’re too loose and eat me up regardless.

I did try on different sizes too at a store so they’re properly fitted.

Perfect for beginner snowboarders. So comfortable when walking and riding! I used to walk all awkward with my other boots but these have great flex to them. The lining is my fave and I love how warm and cozy they are.

They’re lined with this faux fur so it’s not Duffin into your skin when bending your knees. I also just love the color and how great and useful the Boa adjuster is. Cuts down so much time in comparison to having to tie the laces up tight each time and don’t have to deal with the laces getting wet anymore or muddy after I take them off and they get dirty from the muddy floor from melted snow.

Life changers for sure! I highly recommend them.

Size 12 Boot I like these boots a lot! They look sharp and very comfortable. The fur in the ankle cuff is a great touch and the velcrow allows for a secure fit. These are my first pair of Step Ons and I’m never going back! You can remove the heel clip if you still want to use these boots with traditional bindings.

The reason I’m giving 4 stars is for the reasons below. – Made for wide feet. I have narrow feet so there’s a little play in the toe and heel box. – Not enough forward lean. My last boots had a lot more forward lean.

It allowed me to squat and dig into carves more effectively. – The BOA system tightens great at the top around the ankle but the foot section does not tighten as much as I’d like. I tighten it until my fingers hurt and still leaves wiggle room.

I was excited about getting these as a birthday upgrade from my 4 season old Ride Jackson’s this year. However to my disappointment, they did not live up to what I was expecting or needing for an upgraded snowboard boot.

My foot is skinny, long, and flat. YThese boots are made for Fred flinstone foot. So I you have wide, thick, with a high arch, these boots may be for you. I could not get these boots tight enough around my feet, even with the upgrade to the double boa.

There seemed to be a lot of boot bulk that gets in the way of being able to tighten the boot efficiently. The bulky material binds on itself and can only be tightened to a certain point, which was still too big for my skinny foot and ankle.

The same could be said for the Iiner tightening laces system. I am excited for the day when the inner liner is also a boa system. Boa rules! The liner laces kept getting loose when moving around and the upper Velcro strap was very long which went past the Velcro attach area.

Ok enough details. it comes down to the boots just didn’t work for my body. I love dc boots and shoes, their style etc. One correction that does need to be made, imo, is the flex rating on the site. They are touted to be an 8 out 10, meaning dang stiff.

But they seemed more like a 5 – 6 to me. I tried them on for an hour in the house, and I was already seeing creases on the outside material in ankle / instep area (I bought the grey suede color). So it seemed they could flex up quite a bit after a few days on the mountain.

Overall build quality and style are outstanding, and prob would be bomb park boots.

I have had 2 different sets of Burton Step-on boots – the Photons and Raiders. Both produced hot spots (pain points) on outside of foot within about 2 hours of straight riding. These DCs do not produce hot spots!!! Make sure to order these 1/2 to 1 whole size bigger.

Burtons runs small and so do these – I am a 9. 5 to 10 in most shoes – I ordered 10. 5 to be safe and they fit perfect! These boots are a bit wider than the Burtons especially in the front of boot where is counts with step-ons.

They do take about 4-6 hours to beak in and start feeling real Koosh! Rode them for 4 hours straight (no break/rest) and did NOT get hot sports on outside of foot!!! Thanks DC for doing what burton could not, make a boot for step-ons bindings that does not produce hot sports at the front outside cleat points! Dual boa system is also dope, the top foot space could get a little tighter, but boots are not fully broke in yet and this is an easy trade off for how comfy and amazing these boots are! Really nice to see different brands coming together to better the sport and make gear that can co-mingle! Worth every penny!.

I absolutely love the leopard print! They were so cute and so easy to get on. They felt fairly tight when I tired them on the first time so I figured they were a good fit but after riding in them for a day I started experiencing heel lift.

By the end of the weekend, strapped in to my board with my boots and bindings as tight as possible I could pull my foot out of my boot without much effort. I have a small, slightly narrow foot with a high arch and these boots were just not the right fit for me.

I worry going down a half size won’t be enough. These are great boots if you have a wider flat foot.

These are my first pair of dedicated splitboarding boots and I’ve been pretty happy with them. No major signs of wear, the boa system is holding together well, and nothing too significant for damage after three seasons of splitboarding in the rockies.

1)Temperature – Have been comfortable in all temps from Nov-june splitting 2)Crampon compatibility – Not all crampons fit the rear width, so check your fit. Currently on cassin alpinist and they work well.

3)Stiffness/ride performance – Pretty comfortable for all day walking/riding, and responsive for riding 4)Grip – Feels like a mountaineering boot for traction 5)Fit – Size 12 fits true to size. Boot is average size for a snowboard boot and I ride a wide board.

Overall these boots are good value for splitboarding/split mountaineering. If you don’t need a stiff boot or crampons, you’ll probably be fine with your normal snowboard boot though.

I really wanted to love these boots. Construction seems solid, love the lacing system with the lower locking loops, and they look burly! BUT. The heel lockdown thing is made of plastic and sits directly on top of the liner.

If the tops of your feet are boney like mine, this plastic heel locker system will eat the top of your foot when walking in split mode, especially on longer days. I tried everything, had the boots tight, loose, pushed the locker up and down, skinned with the locker tight, and loose.

Still the same issue as soon as I tightened my bindings. (I don’t skin with my bindings crazy tight either. ) I could squeeze 1 or 2 laps out of these before my feet were killing me, which isn’t what you want for a boot you expect to walk all day in.

Rode for 5 days total, will be exchanging for the Jones MTB. Bummed these didn’t work out as crampon compatible snowboard boots are hard to find.

I bought the K2 aspect because I was stoked about a backcountry boot that was crampon compatible. Unfortunately the boot has been nothing but a huge disappointment. The first few days in the boots were absolutely brutal on my feet.

The sole is uncomfortable to the point that tightening my bindings to any reasonable degree caused bruising on the sole of my foot. After 10 days in the backcountry the boots are showing an alarming amount of wear.

The leather upper is wearing out extremely fast where my binding straps come in contact with it. The rubber toe box is also so soft that it gets pressed into the metal chassis of my bindings, which is cutting a hole in the boot itself.

I have karakoram bindings and this did not happen to my old Salomon boots or the 32 boots that my buddy rides. Upon contacting K2 about the quality problems, I received the following response: “When you purchased the product, you entered into a purchase agreement with the dealer and not with K2 as manufacturer and supplier.

” I submitted a claim through the shop I bought the boots at and K2 rejected this outright. It is disappointing to see that such a large company cannot take responsibility for the quality of a $300+ product.

This is without question the last purchase I will be making with K2.

I’m really happy Burton is making a quality lace boot again. Basically, this thing has the Ion sole with the Imperial liner. The outside shell is a step below the Imperial but not by much. Back story: I’m a working professional in mountain for Vail Resorts.

I use my equipment to its fullest and nothing comes close to Burton for its long lasting durability. Back to the boots; they are new and painful at the moment as most Burton boots are for me. This is only temporary.

When they break in there’s nothing better out there. Period.

I bought these boots specifically for the articulation of the cuff, it is one of the smoothest flexing boots I have ever owned + tied up right there is absolutely no lace bite. I tried both Photons and Imperials before getting these.

So far I have used them about 7 days of hard riding and 1 day of Splitboarding. Would have given 5 stars but the heel on one boot is showing excessive wear unfortunately. Note: I use Burton Cartels and Hitchhikers for bindings so I was not expecting any problems like this.

These boots are so comfortable and super stylish too! I have a narrow small feet and heels, so had to try so many boots on to be able to lock that heel. I did a massive research and tried many other brands on before buying my first pair of snowboarding boots.

First off Evo was the only place I could find my size of these Vans – 7,5, so thumbs up to EVO! The size fits true to regular shoe size for Vans. I have read reviews where they say buy a size up and that was too big for me, the snowboarding boots only get bigger as you use them.

I have not been able to use them on the mountain yet, So will update my review once I will, but in comparison with other brands like thirty two, burton, Salomon and DC the Vans were feeling and fitting the best for me.

Nice and snug without pressure points and rubbing any where. High quality products, very good padding and comfortable fit. Heel lock check, soft-med flex check. Style check. I decided to go with the classic lacing system because it lasts forever (the boa might break at some point) and also I always tend to over tighten boa because my foot is very narrow, so by locking down the heel I over tighten the ankles a lot which tends to cut my blood circulation.

So the class lacing system is so much better for me, as I can control where it is tighter and where it’s looser. super awesome Vans! So happy with the purchase so far!.

What an amazing pair of boots! EVO is the only place I could find my size 7,5 which are true to size, my toes lightly touching front, but not jamming into the front of the boot, heel lock-check and style is amazing! Finally owing my own snowboarding boots after doing a massive research and trying on so many different brands, I Can truly say that Vans are the best fit for me.

I have a narrow skinny foot with a high arch and most of the boots would not lock my heel, I tried thirty two which felt like cardboard on my feet, burton did not do it do me ether, DC and Salomon did not work, my heel would lift up.

Vans are so comfortable, the padding feels like walking on clouds, after two days of snowboarding I have no pain or discomfort in my feet. No pressure points or anything like that. Even out of the box they are so comfortable and soft, just perfect! Love love love them!!!! Also love the classic lacing system as I tend to overtighten the BOA system to lock my heel, but usually it just cuts my circulation off and my toes start to get numb, so classic lacing system is the best fit for me, as I can control where I want it tighter or looser, plus it will never break, unlike BOA.

They are soft flex, which is perfect for an intermediate rider. absolutely in love with these! %100 recommend!.
