17 Best Snow Plows For Trucks (2023 Updated)

Plow looks sturdy but came with several scrapes on the face of the plow which I touched up with paint. The bolts for the mount did not match the nuts so I had to go out and purchased new nuts. The plow hooks up to the mount fairly easy and the winch lifts and lowers the plow with no problem.

Sometimes the wireless remote doesn’t seem to work or connect with the winch,hopefully it’s just a battery issue. It hasn’t snowed yet so I haven’t been able to see how it performs in the snow.

It took me 3 hours using hand tools, the instructions were pretty good but some areas need further explanation, I was also under the assumption that I needed a front receiver hitch that I ordered and can’t use.

The performance rating is really something I can’t comment on as I haven’t use the plow yet. The quality looks pretty good for a home use plow.

Easy to assemble, all parts mated perfectly including custom mount for my vehicle. All hardware installed, nuts and bolts made assembly a breeze. No sorting needed. The plow worked exceptionally well.

This project was unexpectedly fun to assemble and use.

The blade itself is just wonderful. I just wish I had known that there was nothing else that came with it, as in, no connecting gear. That was MY mistake and I am having a connector made up for it. I do not have an atv so this has to be connected to my farm plow ‘s bucket and that’s where my difficulty lies.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PLOW I bought this plow for a 98 Jeep Cherokee we have on the property. It shipped quickly (9/21) and I had it installed in roughly an hour, and it worked exactly as it should upon installation.

I removed the plow from the jeep, reinstalled the rolling wheels and put the plow inside the garage, out of the weather, and waited for the snow to fly. Flash forward to about two weeks ago, 12/21, there was snow in the forecast.

I reinstalled the plow, plugged it in, and found that it would not operate. Every time I hit any button on the controller from the cab, the motor unit enclosed in the plow would short out and some how shut my controller off.

It was shorting out, but not kicking the in line fuse. I took a voltage meter, and had 12V everywhere I should until I used the controller, at which point, It would short out the motor on the plow itself and my voltage would go from 12V to roughly 2V.

I called Meyers but I was unable to actually contact a human. I spoke with my local Meyers dealer, and was told that we would not warranty the plow as he refuses to carry the “Home Plow”. He described it as a piece of you know what, and wants nothing to do with them.

Do not buy this plow. Spend the money and get a real plow, or at the very least buy it in person so you have someone to talk to when it breaks.

Good Quality Product but needs some changes in design and with parts that come with it. I got this Plow to do the neighborhood roadway in winter. What I thought I was buying was not exactly what I got, so make sure and do your research on this model as it does not come with a wireless FOB remote control.

It comes with an in cab controller that needs to either run thru a window of your vehicle or you will need to poke a hole in something to get it inside of your vehicle. I called customer support at Meyer and they said they had no recommendation for My 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 model to get thru the firewall with the controller so they were no help.

The plastic snap pins that hold the metal cover on the hydraulic reservoir are cheap and will not last. Why they did not use screws is beyond me. For a plug and play snow plow that has a remote FOB you have to get the electric one not the hydraulic one I was told by customer support.

There were only a few reviews on Tractor supply’s site so not a lot of help trying to make a decision.

About 1 hour to mount the receiver and run the wiring harness. Simple one person mounting and dismounting of plow. Easily rolls on casters for moving. Glad I purchased the full power plow, with hydraulic angle.

Have just bought this plow. assembles easily enough, but is really only a toy. The documentation asks that we contact the company with any complaints, but there is no email address provided for that.

Clearly, these people don’t really want to hear about it. Several problems arise. First, clearance below rear support channels is inadequate. My machine high-centers on the slightest hump. Am going to make changes to the way it connects at the back and may be able to gain two-three inches and that will help.

but will have to cut the rear bracket off below the channels. They’re nearly dragging on the ground right now. Second thing is that the steel used to build this thing is nearly as soft as lead. After 20 minutes, the front main supports were badly bent.

Not sure what to do about those. May be able to heat treat them, but without knowing what the steel is made of, that may not work. adding strengthening angle iron made from quality steel is probably the best option.

If you’re dealing with 4 inches of powder snow, this plow is probably fine, but for anything more than that, don’t waste your money on this junk.

I bought this product a month ago and it was a waste of money for what I require. This is a very light-duty product. good for a few inches of dry fluffy snow, and nothing more. To be fair, the lawn tractor I hooked it to, a John Deere E120, is not much more than a toy when thought of as a tractor.

It’s fitted with a two cylinder Briggs, and that should tell you something. It can hardly do more than pull itself along, and without chanin, it won’t even do that reliably. So, if you want to move wet snow, forget this plow.

The mechanism leaves little ground clearance and, once off the paved driveway, and onto a bit of packed snow, you will be high-centered and stuck. If you need to push a build-up of snow off to where you want it to go.

forget that. First, your tractor won’t push it without taking at least a two foot run at it, and that completely over-works the plow’s supports. and most likely, the wimpy framework John Deere put this thing together with.

My main plow supports were bent out of shape after 20 minutes. So, if you need to move some real snow, and are not just looking for a toy to ride on with your grand kids, throw in an extra $1000, and buy a snow blower.

Had your dozer blade 2 years now for plowing snow,& the cable broke on the lever for moving the blade, a bicycle type cable is no good. Then the spring action never held the blade in one position since it was new.

The metal used was too soft now that’s all chewed up, I had to drill 3 holes in that plate & use pins to hole that blade in the selected positions. Whoever designed this set up never ever used it otherwise they would have seen that it was a very poorly designed set up.

Please use it and find out. It’s a farce, a pre school kid would have come up with a better design.

Well built – Look great! I used these on new front bumper I built for 2007 Westward GO-4 Interceptor III. I had a hard time finding (google search) these, because, I wanted “head lights w/turn signals”.

I found some, (not these) which lead me to “snow plow lights” search. Here is a pic, before I re-did the front. I know it looks great as is, however, I wanted a strong bumper with pull rings. I got stuck before and there was no way to pull it safely.

The second pic shows the back bumper I replaced with a direct weld to the frame, like I’m doing to the front. These lights are bright and have better turn signal profile.

Bought this set as a replacement for the lighting on my Western plow. Seems solidly built. Wiring harness is of adequate length for my installation on a 1994 Ford truck. I have several trucks and trailers and pretty much stick to Truck-Lite branded components for simplicity and overall value.

Very easy to assemble. Few of the instructions could use a few more details, but easy to figure out. immediately went pushing snow around. yes, pretty impressed. Helpful hint, make a 3’x4′ 7″ tall cart for it to wheel around, you’ll thank me later.

I like everything about it so far. I have not used it yet and frankly hope it never snows 🙂 It was shipped, packaged, and delivered. I couldn’t ask for better. The ONLY problem I had was the wheels you have to set up correctly were a BIG pain to get off after taking the cotter pin out.

It seems the painted or powered coated the whole thing with the wheels in the neutral position. You couldn’t take the wheels off with without call 911. Need to correct that. I had a regular Meyer plow several years ago for the farm and they make a good product.

I got the Home plow because finances wouldn’t allow for a commercial one, so we will see how this Home Plow does I have 3900 feet of driveway to do on my farm. Wish me luck (or you can come help :).

Very frustraed with this product. Got it hooked up and the remote worked from out side the car. If you stood by the reciever. Contacted meyer and was told i needed an extention cable. I also purchased snow shoes for it.

After rewiring the remote it worked for about an hour. While i installed the snow shoes. Which did not come with enough spacers to keep the plow blade off the ground. I have a call into meyer again and if they can not resolve the issue i will be returning the plow.

Thank god snow isnt hear yet.

The plow took no time to install–it was the receiver that took 2+ hours. The holes did not exactly line up so it took some work to get it mounted and bolted in place. The receiver assembly is a snug fit onto the truck but that is probably a good thing–no play at all when I drive with the plow attached.

Now I need some snow so I can play! I gave all 5 stars because it is solid, looks great and seems like it should do the job well–looking forward to proving that out with some snow.

OK. First, short version: I have the plow installed on my wife’s 2000 Jeep Wrangler. Two days after I completed the install, we got a 6′ snowfall, so I had a great opportunity to test it out. It works great! Delivery was prompt, and on the dates promised.

The Curt Receiver was shipped first, allowing me to have it installed by the time the plow arrived. Great job, Auto Accessories Garage. Because our Jeep has a 4″ lift kit, and oversize tires, I did run into some problems with the install.

LET ME EMPHASIZE: The problems are not related to the plow kit, but to my vehicle! One of the nice features of the Curt Front-mount Hitch Receiver is that the 2″ receiver socket is open at the back end, and I was able to make a slight modification (drilled a 2nd 5/8″ hole for the hitch pin, you can see Hole #2 in some of the photos) and mounted it “backwards” plugging the adapter into the rear of the receiver instead of the front.

This moved the entire plow back about 10″ closer to the vehicle than if it were mounted “Normally” (i. e. -extending forward) All in all a great product.

The plow seems to be very high quality. I haven’t used it yet but I’m optimistic. The install is another story. Several of the welds prevented proper assembly and had to be cleaned up. The wiring included with the winch was too short to put the control box in a good position and I had to replace that with longer ones.

Once the install was done, it easily comes on and off the truck with little effort. Overall, I would recommend. High quality for the price. Just takes some problem solving to get it together.

There were two holes that didn’t line up. We had to drill two holes one in the middle where the two blades meet and one on the end. Also the wireless remote does not work. We need to replace it. With a working one.

Plow is built well, no issues there. I own a ram 2500 diesel with a class 5 hitch on the rear and the factory hitch height is too tall to use with the out of the box setup. I had to purchase a separate drop receiver to get the mounting height within the installation range.

Plow works as described however it does leave a small amount of snow on the surface due to its design. I’m considering buying the hold down straps or modifying the rubber blade by adding a strip of steel for better hard pack or ice removal.

The plow is completely ineffective on packed snow and ice. If you have expectation of removing packed snow or ice, you will be disappointed. However, the plow is very good at moving fresh snow. I was able to clear my entire driveway in 3 passes, taking less than 10 minutes in a warm vehicle.

That is way better than using a snow blower which takes over an hour. The plow is simple to use, simple to store, overall a good choice for me.

The Snowsport HD is exactly what I needed for home. I use my truck as a daily driver traveling all over the country. I wanted a plow that went on and came off quickly. The Snowsport is perfect for that purpose.

With the lack of snow lately, I have only used it once but it worked great. I love the fact that I can move the snow further on the lawn without damaging the lawn. I was able to install the front mount receiver by myself.

I assembled the front bracket and plow by myself. It was really easy to assemble. The only reason why I gave four stars instead of five is because of the shipping. Fedex is the worst at getting packages delivered on time.

In Kentucky, we don’t get the snow levels of our northern neighbors. But with a 50 yard driveway, I was really tired of shoveling. I wanted a plow with no hydraulics that was easy to install on the front of my lifted ’87 Dodge Ram Charger.

After making some modifications due to the 4″ lift, the Snowsport HD performed flawlessly. It removed a recent 6″ snow down to asphalt. I could not be happier! It will not remove ice, but it is wonderful pushing snow! I am totally satisfied, great product.

Putting the plow together was a snap; the modifications took longer.

The extension handle is nice. The bladed side of the brush is a harder rubber than what I was expecting. Works well but I was hoping for a blade that would not scratch or mar the car paint when moving snow off the painted surfaces and I’m not sure that this doesn’t do just that if used aggressively.

This brush only looks good from afar but when you use it, it falls apart. The extendable arm breaks when you extend it to the full length. It is just not strong to use as needed.

The long reach is nice and it helps keep your hands from getting covered in snow and ice. Storage is a little difficult if you have a small car just because of the size, but in a midsize SUV just throw it in the back.

We live at over 8500’ in the Colorado Rockies and have about 200’ of hilly, side-sloping, uneven gravel drive to clear. Our order was delayed by a few weeks. We received our Home Plow Electric, assembled it (using a torque wrench for the blade bolts at 90 ft-lbs), and installed it on our 2005 Jeep LJ just in time for 18” of snow the next day.

That was around February 1. Since then, we’ve had somewhere between 4-6 feet of snow, usually 6-12” at a time, and it has performed just fine. Even plowed out a neighbor’s drive after the snow was old and heavy and about 18-24” deep, and it still worked quite well.

Yes, it is not a commercial-grade plow, but if you use your noodle, take your time and don’t abuse it, it works great. It’s designed to plow your drive, not run a business – but it doesn’t cost $6000, either.

We found an independent YouTube video that was very helpful with the assembly process. We only needed to make a few minor adjustments – preload the trip springs about 3-4 turns beyond the suggested setting (the default setting was too weak for an uneven gravel surface), and shorten the chain about 3-4 links to enable it to be raised to a good traveling height.

One advantage of this plow is that the mounting hardware does not reduce the ground clearance on the vehicle, so if you want to off-road it, it won’t be in the way. Most heavy duty plows have mounting hardware systems that may be stronger, but are low enough to make a difference, and also require a substantial amount of effort to remove in the summer, then re-install in the fall.

Plus, since this is a standard 2” receiver, we can put other accessories on the front when not using the plow. We bought the recommended Curt #31028 hitch receiver, and it is very well made. Excellent product, with high quality grade 8 hardware.

I highly recommend watching Curt’s YouTube video before installing this hitch. And be super careful with the fish-wires when you install the hitch hardware, or a bolt retainer plate can fall inside the frame.

Yes, ask me how I know that. It took a while to find it and get it out of there, as it slid downhill in the frame. Had to use a borescope camera to find it, and a snake magnet to extract it. Not too fun when it’s cold.

But it’s not Curt’s fault that my dexterity (or brain) was not up to the task that day. Purchased both products from autoaccessoriesgarage. com. Chatted with a couple of the folks there – they were helpful, and the price was reasonable on both the hitch and the plow.

One small thing – they said the plow would come with the caster wheels for moving it around when off the vehicle, but it did not. I have noticed others saying this, as well. No big deal, as we’ll be storing it outside, on the ground.

Bottom line – both good products. The only change I might possibly suggest would be to spend the extra $$$ and go full hydraulic, as the electric motor is a bit slow, and if you want to angle it very often, it is manual, and you will need to stop and get out.

But that just depends on what you are willing to tolerate/spend. I can live with the simpler, less expensive option, as I don’t need to angle it too often. It still beats the heck out of shoveling two feet of snow – and yes, I also know that really well.

It turns out Meyers changed certain lock washers out for a flat washer, split washer and finished nut combination and the instructions didn’t indicate this. Also the parts list in the instructions show 1 ring pin (which is what I got) however when you get to the page in the manual to use it, you actually need 2.

I had to go to the hardware store to get the additional part. These things leave you scratching your head and takes longer to install when you have to figure it out. Also you will note that the Meyers Instructions are flawed.

If you purchased the electric lift model (which I did) the instructions tell you to skip the pages for the spring assembly and manual lift assembly. Turns out you need the springs (included) so I’m not sure that the Meyers QA crew has ever installed one of these using their own instructions.

Now as for the plow. It seems pretty sturdy and easy to install if you realize the instructions are flawed. Note: Buried in the instructions it tells you that the height of your receiver must be between 10″ and 13″ from the ground.

Mine was 13″ and the plow tilts excessively towards the front. It will work but getting a 2″ adapter in my case is what I had to do to make it work better. Also, depending on your vehicle you might have to add some wire to the harness to reach the battery and the plow.

Meyers has cut some corners on this plow which for a few extra bucks on their part would have made my experience much more enjoyable and garnered a better review. The potential is there if Meyers wasn’t so cheap.

I installed mine on a stock (no lift) 2004 Jeep (TJ) Wrangler.

Absolutely horrible assembly instructions ! Looking for part K, but there is no part K for my model ! Had to find a video to complete assembly. Took me 5 hours to assemble! See this time and again, instructions for more than one model.

Plus the plow is black which the photographer failed to take into consideration ! All models should have their own video from start to finish !!!.

The plow was well packaged and is well built. It is heavier duty than I thought it would be. I only had one issue with the mounting holes for the right side u-bolt not lining up. A couple of quick holes drilled and that was resolved.

Had a little trouble getting the pins for the push tube to slide in too, but they are made to be tight. It moved the wet snow well.

I bought this plow from ACME because they had the best price on it compared to everywhere else I checked. I was afraid it wouldn’t have a mounting plate or something since it was cheaper than everywhere else.

But it did come with everything, exactly as it should have. Assembly was pretty easy, just nuts & bolts. The hardest part I had was putting on the mounting plate, needed to do some modifications to make it fit right, looks like the mounting plate is pretty universal, which is not ACME’s fault.

Also not a big deal, I just ended up drilling a couple more holes thru it and my skidplate to make it as secure as I wanted. Appears to be great quality, I’m actually looking forward to snow! All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from ACME or a Denali product again.

On the tail end of my second winter plowing snow in the San Juan Mountains on 1/2 mile of gravel ranch road and this plow has held up and worked perfectly in front of my Grizzly 660. I like that the plow attaches/detaches very quickly and easily with only two pins and the winch hook.

The only issue I had was one of the guide feet for the blade got knocked out due to a bent cotter pin while dragging ice backward.
