20 Best Snow Blowers Under 1000 (2023 Updated)

If you want a cordless snow blower, this is not it! The reviews are from people (I guess) who have a CORDLESS blower! I read where one review says, “no cords to worry about” and I thought I was ordering a cordless blower.

I read someone saying they ordered a second battery pack, but really did not need it because the battery life was excellent! Fingerhut knows that this will not be return because of its size! It was delivered on a dolly by deliveryman.

The few reviews that I read are speaking of CORDLESS snowblower and should be taken from this particular electric PLUG IN with a CORD blower. Oh, did I mention that the cord doesn’t come with it, you have to buy it! Totally would not recommend I am so disappointed and sad that my husband will have a darn cord attachment trailing in the snow as he uses this mess! I am going to make it my business to use every social media platform (FB, IG, Tik Tok, Twitter etc) to ensure people do not order from Fingerhut!.

Bought it back in September getting ahead of the game. Just got a foot of snow over night first real snow. Was worried about if this would handle it. Taking my time and letting it work. I was very impressed with its ability to handle that crazy amount of snow.

Did my drive and walks in about 2 hours. Threw the snow nicely good shute adjustments and not so heavy. Works as good as my old gas one without messing around with fuel and getting it started. Very quiet also didnt wake my wife at 4am when I started clearing next to the house.

I put it through the paces and really like the unit so far and would buy again if needed. Great job snow joe you sold me on your products.

Third year running. Use it to blow snow off our main deck. Leave it outside covered up with its cover. Occasionally lube the shoot with a squirt of graphite silicone to stop it from freezing up (after I clear the ice and snow from around the shoot).

It’s just the right size for the task. We usually get a lot of snow over the season. Just having it to clear the deck means I can mange to get to the task ASAP. I’ve cleared 8 inched of powder in one go.

Love it.

Just got my snow blower this past week and had a snowstorm on Friday night. It was only 1-1/2″, but I had to try it out! Several peoples’ reviews mention that the chute rotator is almost impossible to turn.

Well, it’s a little hard, but you can turn it. I found that while running the blower, it turned easily. I thought the blower worked well and I got 40 mins out of 2 4Ah batteries. I used the blower on sidewalks, asphalt driveway for about 25′, as well as on grass and gravel.

The latter 2 are the most difficult. On grass, you have to lift up the front end, so the skidder doesn’t dig into the grass. It will definitely cut your grass, but it doesn’t gouge it. When you lift up the blower to clear the grass, you don’t get as close a “shave”, but the remaining snow will melt easily.

On gravel, WORX says to make an adjustment, but they don’t explain how. I would find that a hassle in the “field” when you have a mix of surfaces to work and the blower is covered with snow. It’s easier to lift up the front end.

On concrete, the skidder will catch the expansion joints and you have to lift the front end to get passed them. If I were dealing with all flat surfaces, I probably could have gotten an hour’s run time and it wouldn’t have been as strenuous.

Otherwise, the blower works very well. I have been on WORX’s 20V platform for a number of years. When I looked at snow blowers, it made the most sense to get a WORX blower because of the Power Share with its 20V batteries.

Over the years, I have bought extra 20V batteries and now have 8: 4 of the 4Ah, 2 of the 5Ah, and 2 of the 6Ah. If you already have some WORX 20V tools, it makes no sense to buy another brand of snow blower or any other brand of tool because you will end up with multiple different brands of chargers and batteries, none of which is compatible with the others.

I was able to do much more with the blower than with a shovel in less time and with less strain. I use a tractor with front end loader to plow the rest of my half mile driveway, but this will definitely tear up the grass.

Being almost 70, I always look for the proper tool for the job! 🙂 Viewing some of the vids of WORX’s leaf blower, I realized I could use it to blow off a light snow on my car, truck, and decks. Never thought of that! :).

I own several (>6!) Worx tools, all for outdoor maintenance. I gave been avoiding buying a snow blower for many years but I decided to take the plunge with this Worx product. It wasn’t strenuous putting it together though it is bulky to lift out of shipping carton.

Help would have made it easier, LOL! Assembly was straight forward. Make note that there are 2 sets of metal poles attaching to snow blower. The first bare attachment is where you start the assembly, then the power control / handle is mounted to the the first set.

The auxiliary handle for lifting was broken, but I contacted customer service and sent a photo of that piece. A replacement was sent promptly and at no cost. I’ve used the blower once, as of this writing and it worked like a champ! I’m very happy with this snow blower.

The directional chute was originally stiff to turn, but with gentle, firm pressure, it worked fine! Remember, this is not self propelled but it is easy to push forward. It is not heavy. When I hit icy spots, I could just tilt the machine up and pass over the obstacle.

I even cleared the new snow on my ground paths, to the bird feeders and the dog potty area. Instead of spending a good, overheated hour clearing these areas I was done in 15 minutes! And, ready to go play in the snow! The batteries still had 2 out of 3 charge points remaining which I think is great, especially considering all the labor it saved me! Area cleared= front of garage=26’x8’ (plow cannot get close to garage door opening), edge of drive to help plow driver see the edges (4’x30’) and private sidewalk (7’x50’).

So nice to have basically bare concrete to welcome our guests and delivery people. Give it a try!.

I bought the snowblower last January 3rd 2022 and recieved it on the January 7th. We put it to its first test on January 9th when we had snow storm here in Virginia. I was VERY disappointed with it since the snow blower did not even last for 5 minutes.

After making my first pass on our driveway the machine started to stall. I checked my batteries and they were both fully charged. I machine would start but will stall again and again once it touches the snow.

Take note the snow that we had was not heavy, it only accumulated approx 2-3 inches. I was disappointed since I have several Worx tools and just recently purchased lawn mower and power washer last Blackfriday 2021.

I hope they are not as defective as the snowblower. I ended up returning the snowblower. Part of the reason I decided to return the snowblower was after I reached out to their customer support. I was told to keep the machine inside the house or well temperature place.

And the agent told me that the machine may not able to withstand the cold temperature. I don’t think that was a smart resolution considering this machine are meant to be use for snow which is COLD.

I typically use a shovel and a 9HP gas blower for heavy and deep snow, and a shovel by itself to up to 4 inches. I was hoping this would be better than the shovel for use in light snow or in combination with the gas blower in deeper heavy snow.

Last night we received 2″ of light snow. Not enough for my gas blower so the Snow Joe (“SJ”) got the first trial. It only threw the snow 5 to 6 feet maximum. So I plied up some snow with my shovel and used SJ on it.

It would throw the deeper snow at least 15′. In addition to not throwing the 2″ less, it tended to plug up the shoot. It definitely likes deeper snow than 2″. The path it cleared was comparable to the snow shovel but the snow shovel leaves snow overflow on the sides the SJ did a better job in this regard.

The 100″ cord I bought was very stiff at 32 degrees making it hard to negotiate around. This isn’t the SJ fault but it would be an argument for battery power. My walkway is exposed aggregate and after one snowfall the plastic shave plate shows some wear.

My driveway is asphalt and this probably contributed to the wear. There is nothing really wrong with the SJ but it doesn’t work any better than a shovel for the application I purchased it for. I bought it at Walmart because of their return policy so tomorrow I am taking it back.

If you have a small area the SJ might just be what you need. That isn’t the case with me however.

Just received my sj6115e thrower. Removed from shipping box and saw that the steel tubular frame that supports the 2 wheels and axle was bent to one side by 2 inches off center. And the axle extension for the wheels were bent, one up, one down.

As a result the thrower would not stand upright as designed. No shipping box damage, so thinking it was already bent and damaged before placed in shipping carton. This may be an indication of poor quality control.

I purchased this to do my walkways and driveway. I didn’t feel I needed anything big and heavy since I am only 5’1″. Let me tell you, this little guy does the trick! I got to use it 3x this winter. I live in New England.

I actually wished it would snow more! Seriously, if you are alone, and dont have a football field drive way then this ones for you. It took me around 20 minutes to put together. It is made of a very hard plastic which I like due to weight.

I can lift and carry it if needed with no problem. I bought the electric model and use a 100ft cord. Good cheap investment. I will update if something changes.

Item arrived quickly, easy to assemble and start using. Works well, really throws the snow and chugs right along. I only have two compaints: 1. You save money but not effort by using a corded instead of a cordless machine.

Both wrangling the extension cord and needing to ensure all other uses of the circuit are off (we have to flip the breaker at least once) make it a bit of a hassle 2. the little plastic wheels are mostly for wheeling it in and out of the garage.

To get good clearance of the snow I had to press the machine forward For these two reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars but otherwise a good little machine! #sweepstakes.

The buying experience was super fast and super easy. I can’t remember the exact time frame, but it was less than a week I had the snowblower. What really impressed me, is the fact that the bigger the snow in front of it as in depth-wise the better it performed.

It will shoot the snow 30 feet, I tell you that much. I did an entire parking lot for a property management company because I also share the parking lot with them, and it was awesome. I was chucking rocks and gravel snow.

The spotlights are awesome. I actually have an electric mower from another company and I kind of went against the warranty. You cut my power cord and putting an adapter on it because I can switch out the top half handle with my Mower and have spotlights on my mower as well because they’re pretty cool, but it’s well worth the money.

I mean make sure you have a good hundred-foot electrical cord at least and realize that you’re going to have to lug around the electrical cord. You have to get it out of the way and move it and stuff like that.

It’s electric but at the end of the day, it’s better than having to walk back from the gas station in 20 below lugging a gallon of gas back. Not sure why it’s dying, when you can just plug it in. Be smarter than the cord, and go at it.

A must-buy for the price and an absolute must purchase if you need something that’s not even small, but it’s a good size. I love it, thank you, guys.

I bought this electric snow blower during the summer to take advantage of the price. The snow blower was able to move ten inches of snow under one hour and it saved my back from shoveling snow. My driveway still had a thin layer to shovel, but the shoveling was manageable.

What was problematic was the extension cord attached to the snow blower vs having a battery powered snow blower. It was like having an umbilical cord attached to the snow blower. There was no problem using electric power.

Rugged, great for breaking through snow berms from road plows. Snow throwing distance was a disappointment. The greatest distance I achieved was throwing the snow directly in front of the snowblower (about 10-15′).

Great power but gets bogged down in wet snow. Seems to work best in snow 2″ or less.

Very easy assembly. Started on first pull every time. I had a single stage snowblower. never again. My wife and I could not be happier. I am a Paramedic/Firefighter and work 24 hour shifts which leaves my wife to have to clear the snow some days.

She has no problem starting or operating it. Unbelievable power and performance. We have a 60 foot wide driveway and have no problem with not throwing snow far enough. We have done hours of research trying to decide which snowblower to purchase – and we were extremely pleased with the performance.

Great for the price! Powered through about 5inches of snow easily, very lightweight teenage son wasn’t tired after using and light came in handy at night. Easy to assemble as well.

It’s been unusable since the pulley stripped out early last winter. Replacement parts for this model never in stock. I’ve been checking periodically for over least a year and a half — including spring and summer — and it’s always out of stock.

It’s obvious that this isn’t just another “supply chain issue based on numerous comments this site about the part wearing out and being out of stock that stretch back 4 years. For safety reasons, the part is designed to fail if the auger gets jammed and the motor keeps spinning — exactly what happened when I ran into some dense snow.

Even if that hadn’t happened, plastic pulleys wear out over time. That’s why it’s user replaceable. But that’s worthless if replacement parts aren’t ever available. So you have a few options if you’re considering this snow blower 1) Understand its limits and hope for the best 2) Set aside some money to buy another snow blower when a part wears out 3) Buy a snow blower from a manufacturer that doesn’t expect you to do #1 or #2.

This snow blower has been a remarkable machine for our Winter Park, Colorado, mountain cabin. We have a 300 foot long driveway to a county road and snowfall week-to-week can get very deep. Our county uses a grader to plow the road, so when clears our road the snow and ice gets deep, thick and icy at the start of our driveway.

This winter has already delivered over 300 inches of snow. The machine has been flawless and is living up to its advertised capabilities to move all types of snow and ice efficiently and effortlessly.

I am very happy with this purchase. Of note, as an overly analytical mechanical engineer, I spent two years researching snow throwers. I finally decided to count snow throwers used at major ski areas in Colorado.

We have visted 12 ski areas in Colorado and New Mexico over the last two seasons and the vast majority of throwers we casually inventoried – 84% – were from Ariens. No one else was even close. That alone is a testimony to the brand.

Ariens should be the offical snow thrower of ski areas in the Rocky Mountains. At one resort an employee simply called his Ariens the “Orange Beast” and told me it was at least ten years old. And, in terms of size, we picked the 24 inch width because we could haul it in our 2019 Toyota Highlander with no problems and the size/weight ratio makes it relatively easy to load.

BAD FACTORY PAINT on intake housing and no warranty help from factory authorized srvc ctr NOR Areins factory in Wisc. Kept inside when not in use and had less that 7 hours on compact 24 when I noticed paint COMPLETELY FLAKING OFF down to rusty bare metal.

Colorado has such low humidity that rust is NOT an issue, EVER on anything else I own except by poorly factory painted Ariens! Factory said they would have someone call back and no one ever has. @ calls from factory and no return call! The machine works ok in less that a foot of snow, struggles around 18 inches and need bigger unit if over that.

All in all, I am satisfied with snow removal 18 inches and under. just ARIENS WILL NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPLACE ORIGINAL BAD PAINT JOB THEY ARE AT FAULT ON. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. YOU DECIDE. I RECOMMEND BUYING JAPANESE VS USA IN FUTURE.

SAD TO SAY.

Now that I have used this blower a half dozen times after heavy snow falls. The first thing I noticed with the Briggs & Stratton 306cc was its weight. It is not an easy machine to move when the engine is not running.

This snow blower is not woman friendly. My wife could use it on the straight and level but could not rotate the blower’s chute with the crank. It does take a man’s strong arm. She was also lost her grip on the handle grips because of the unexpected rapid turns, with a wide open throttle rapid.

She did learn however. The two most serious problems I was confronted with was the blower’s constant lack of traction. The motor is easily powerful enough to push into deep snow or, to move the machine up a gentle enclines but, it loses traction almost immediately.

Possibly it’s caused by the machines weight. The most glaring fault of this machine is the reverse setting. The blower will not move backwards, even on a “slight” encline. Whether or not the clutch is not set properly or it’s a design flaw, I don’t know yet.

It takes all my strength to pull it backwards when I need it to back up on a very slight encline. As I said, it is a heavy machine to man handle. Other than those two major flaws, the Briggs & Stratton 306cc snow blower is a great machine for our mountain, heavy snowfalls.

It has the power to push its self into and through deep snow, throws the snow 25 -30 ft at max throttle setting. The heated handles are a great feature. After four uses in -deep- snow, if it were not for the difficult chute rotating crank the lack of traction and not wanting to back up, I would give the Briggs & Stratton a 10 +.

Because of the three major faults mentioned above, I must reluctantly give the machine a rating of -8, or only three stars. I will highly recommend the machine for ground level snow blowing; however, for areas with enclines, unless a man only uses the blower, I would say NO.

Though I have use the 306cc only twice most of the features are a definite bonus. To use the blowers steering mechanism nearly through me off my feet. The engine’s RPM throttle control needs to me backed off to prevent the being whipped sideways.

The blower shoot controls are stiff and an excerted effort is required to redirect the shoot blow the snow where I needed to blow it. I had a terrible time with tires losing their traction on the slight encline of our driveway.

May I was not using enough pressure to tighten the shoe guides in fear of damaging them; however, I have had to readjust them three times in the two uses of the blower. The good side of the blower; the variable speed throttle is a blessing for controlling how far I wanted the snow to be blown and at the speed I wanted the machine to move forward.

All in all, if it were not for the whipping action of the steering and tightness of the controls I would give the 306cc a 10; however with the weight of the machine and the resulting loss of traction on gentle slopes, I am giving the blower 4 stars.

With a remedy for the traction loss, I would highly recommend the 306cc to anyone who lives in areas where the snowfalls are extensive.

Bought this as the recent snowstorm mangled our older blower. After the first few passes with this new machine, I was impressed to say the least. This 24” machine really threw the snow. Seemed to have great power and ran very smoothly.

The belts took about 10 minutes to get worn in and seated nicely in their pulleys. The speed control is nice and smooth and the two reverse gears are nice to back up if you don’t want to pull it backwards.

The chute looks beefy and the controls for it work well. It swings a full 180 degrees. The adjustment for throw height seems adequate. It definitely goes nice and low so you aren’t shooting snow up into the wind or off into the neighbours yard.

A great machine that will come in handy for all but the heaviest of jobs! Picked it up on a 40x day as well, so got a nice treat for that! Happy snowfalls!.
