20 Best Snow Bibs For Snowboarding (2023 Updated)

I’m on my third pair of these bibs in the last 7 years. To be fair, I’m mostly using them for snowmobiling which isn’t exactly their designed purpose but they have held up reasonably well. I have found them to be fairly warm and waterproof too, which was why I keep buying them.

I am less satisfied with the most recent model, however, as they are lacking some simple features that most snowboarders would still appreciate. The internal snow cuff at the bottom of the pants no longer comes with a hook to catch the laces of your snowboard boots.

This lets the cuff ride up your ankle and makes it easier for snow to get in the top of your boots. This problem is compounded by another snow cuff design failure: the cuff is made of two parts; the bottom half is a solid material but the top half is mesh -which again allows snow to get into the top of your boots.

These problems are only encountered in deep snow when it can get in and under the outer cuff, but I would imagine many users of this product are purchasing a bib (instead of the pants) because they know they’ll be encountering exactly that kid of situation.

North Face garments made of Goretex are. This was the Brigandine Bib made of Goretex material, which is the pinnacle of fabrics that even protect our astronauts in space, and which require testing and resulting approval from the Goretex company BEFORE a manufacturer can market and sell a model of garment.

I understand that process is expensive, but oh have I seen first hand how important are it’s results. I have been in hurricane force blizzards, pinned down for days on summits and was able to exit our Himalayan Hotel tent in my full North Face Gore Tex suit and conduct training and exercises for those conditions with out any hindrance or concern at all for my physical protection.

That is what level of excellence both a great and customized design coupled with bomb proof double stitching taped seams using Goretex engineered fabric provides. It saves your life, giving you the best that man can devise and engineer to highest standards ever possible.

That is PRICELESS. It is INCREDIBLE, even AMAZING. Built by mountaineers who give direct input so when you are in that situation, you ARE able to fully function right down to the way the hood bungie’s and straps tighten around your skull and helmet and goggles so you don’t get blown off balance or topple over which in some instances WILL end your fun for good.

I am NOT HAPPY that TNF for 2021 and beyond are NOT making their best garments out of Goretex. I have a new “Futureliight” Mountain Light jacket made of “Futurelight” material instead of Goretex, and I am not impressed with it’s breathability and rate of body moisture passage compared to Goretex.

These bibs have lots of nice features. They seem to be well thought out. All the zippers are fully taped. Too deep breast pockets on the bib are easy to reach through your jacket and very useful. Too deep pockets on the leg are also easy to get to because they’re below your jacket.

Full vents run from the knee all the way to the top on both sides of the leg. One handed pull to tighten up the suspenders is very useful. They have a modest amount of style for bibs in this price range.

Only two small gripes 1) they seem to skimp on the elastic material on the gators. My guess is that that part will go out first. 2) in order to unzip the fly you have to zip all the way down from the top of the bib.

Which means you’ll have to open your jacket and if you have a snow skirt buttoned you’ll have to open that as well. But neither of these gripes is a good reason not to buy them. I’m 6’2 185 lb. The mediums fit me well.

Awesome bibs, these feel like they are made with really solid materials and well thought out features. The only reason I didn’t offer 5 stars was the fit is a little odd. I am about 6′ 180 lbs and ordered both large and medium to try out.

The medium legs felt better but the hips and torso were a bit too snug for me. The large felt better overall but the legs were still a bit baggy but I kept them anyway. For context, I have thick legs and usually have the opposite problem with ski pants, so I thought it was especially odd.

Also the color looks better in person than online.

I am 6?1 170lb and I ordered the large. They were so baggy, and extremely long. I exchanged for the medium and they deff fit better but am curious to try the small. I haven?t been a small in like 10 years.

The quality of pants seem awesome, warm, baggy so you can bend your knees while skiing or snowboarding, and the chest zipper is really nice to make sure non of your body is exposed! Cant wait to really get out there with them.

I’ve bought these pants from 5 DIFFERENT ONLINE STORES in Acid Black that are using your stock photos & all of them have come with white patches on the knees which is NOT WHAT I WANT. I WANT THE ONES IN THE PICTURE.

I’ve spent OVER $1200 to get the right pants & because of your false advertising on your page & to your suppliers I have still not gotten the right pants AFTER 5 orders & $1200+ later. Can someone let me know if they even exist or if all of them have white patches & you guys just messed up on your stock photos, so that I don’t have to keep buying more pairs of these wrong pants that aren’t properly advertised, to try and get the right ones to match the matching jacket that I bought from you guys also, because That would be awesome.

I absolutely love these bib pants. Have only ridden with them once so far. In Vermont in wet but relatively warm conditions. they were waterproof but nicely breathable which is exactly what I was looking for.

I really like shells as opposed to fully insulated pants because it allows me to layer to whatever the conditions throw at me. Size seems right on the money. I’m 5′-9″ at 190 lbs and a 35″ waist (yeah, I’m a chunky snowboarder who has yet to meet an IPA he doesnt like) and the large fit me fine, close fitting but not too snug and a good range of motion.

plenty of room to layer up with a thicker base layer if needed. I will be taking it out to the powder in Whistler BC at the end of January where I expect the ‘zip-tech’ will really shine and thats the primary reason I got these in the first place.

I have being looking at this bib for a long time and I am glad I finally got them from Peter Glenn Ski & Sports. I couldn’t have asked for a better price. This is the second time I have scored an amazing deal from Peter Glenn and I am happy.

As always the shipping and processing from Peter Glen was a breeze. The product arrived on time. The bib is articulated fit. Not baggy. I am 6. 3 ft /235 ibs and I ordered an XL. The bib ride a little bit high in the groin area.

I wish the bib were a little bit roomy in the front, this will make it easier to wear my mid layer (arc’teryx atom LT) under the bib. I have big thighs and the bib fits them perfectly. Anyways, I am 90% happy with the bib and the deal I had for it, so I will keep it.

Suggestion to anyone interested in buying a similar bibs from Volcom is to try a size up.

Dear Burton, I need these in every color. Love these pants! Super waterproof – they kept me warm and dry on a heavy powder day recently even when I took a few tumbles and had to dig myself out. They are very comfortable and somehow much softer and less stiff than other Gore Tex pants I own.

They are really long, so I would highly recommend them for you tall gals out there. I tried to take the dog for a walk in them the other day and I was stepping all over the bottom of the pants, so at 5’4 I can really only use them for snowboarding.

They have a pretty relaxed fit- I bought size small and they are pretty loose (I weigh like 130lb and I’m a little curvier in the butt and thighs), so if you are between sizes or you want them a little tighter I would recommend sizing down.

Overall great pants, and you can’t find Gore Tex at this price anywhere. Highly recommend.

These pants had all the bells and whistles of the pricey ski brands but at a fraction of the price! I’m 5’5” and 130 – ordered size small and medium in black and gray because that’s what was available and I wanted to make sure I got a pair before they sold out.

The size medium was huge in every aspect, size small fit over all and in length, but the hips/thigh/but area were cut very generously which is great if that works for you, but I ended up returning these pants.

That said, there is a ton to like about these pants: they’re insulated, waterproof, have zipper pockets, stretch gussets on the sides of the chest, stretchy fabric overall, taped critical seams, and a tougher fabric on the inside of calf/ankle so you don’t trash them if you’re skiing and rub your boots or skis on them.

Also, know that the gray is sort of a denim or oxford cloth look, with the color being made by threads of black and threads of white woven together. I would say these run true to size except for the hip measurements which run larger than the size chart.

I gave only 4 stars on styling because I wished it had some more feminine details like a contrast color zipper or some shapely accent seams.

Hare Krsna !!! Super comfy, FITTED bib. The waterproofing system is legit, like always with Burton. These do breathe superbly, however they are just a shell ~ No Insulation = Not Warm ~. so leave plenty of room for layering if your in colder freezing climates.

The legs and hips are the fitted part of the bib. With Burton regular fits, the legs generally run a bit long, arms as well in jackets, they do that on purpose, movement is nice. I find they’re soft gear runs larger than most companies, like North Face or DC (an entire size or two larger than roxy).

The stretchy back panel is dope, though it does gap for me and that’s cool, means more stretching room. The drop seat is such a sweet touch. If the bibs aren’t too small, the snaps and zippers falling won’t be a problem.

Quality is top notch, as always and, their warrenty can’t be beat. Burton customer service is easy to deal with and hassle free. So making a return of damaged gear , or fixin of hard gear is easy peasy (and free), regardless of where it was purchased!.

I already had two other pairs of these bib overalls in size medium before I purchased these in size XL. I purchased these in size XL because, although I am a size medium, the medium overalls were too tight (mainly in the quads & hammies), which restricted my movement.

I’ve snowboarded in these overalls as well as worked around the ranch in them in below freezing weather. Squatting is easier in the XL size, but I wish I had more room for movement and for the pockets.

These overalls have great vertically elongated pockets, which in theory would equate to a larger amount of storage space, but since the thighs are too tight, the pockets don’t have room to stretch horizontally to create room for objects or your hands.

I can barely get a hand in my pocket if I have gloves on. I don’t have very large or muscular thighs, so make sure you size up if you do.

I got the navy pair in medium, I’m 5’5” and 140, they fit great, maybe a bit snug but there’s still room for movement. Straps are great and hold well. I like the velcro pocket on the chest for my phone, and the mini zipper pocket for my credit card and ID.

Side pockets are large and zip up which is nice. I didn’t think there was a pass tab at first but with closer inspection it is near the middle of the side zipper. These also have belt loops if you want to take the straps off on the lodge.

Only thing I thought was a bit weird was how wide the bottoms of the pants were. Although with all my gear on it didn’t bother me, just looked a bit strange at first glance. These are lightweight but warm and breathable.

Would definitely buy again. I bought these for snowboarding but they would be great for skis as well.

These bib pants are awesome! I went to Colorado with these and skiied in Vail at the top of the mountain and was so warm. I only had a base layer of sweat wicking pants underneath with no issues of being cold.

With sizing, I originally ordered a M unsure if it would be too small or not. I based my choice of size on my stomach chest and hip measurements according to the size guide. Pay attention to height measurements for each size! I didn’t realize myself that the M was long enough 5’6-5’8, and they ended up really long on me of course because i am 5’1.

They were also very large and baggy even though the M measurements for hip and chest were the numbers i went with that i had for me. I have a straight body, not really curvy but I do a larger chest, but the straps are adjustable! I ordered an XS after returning the M, it it fits PERFECT.

Absolutely love this bib. Warm, lightweight, and one of the few options that was fitted on top but had enough space around my hips. Wore it to Mammoth in 35 degree weather and was perfectly comfortable.

There’s room for layers, too, if I ski in colder conditions. I’m 5’8, 145lbs – typically a M. But I chose the L and it was a perfect fit.

Super surprised with Volcom. Took a risk when purchasing them a few years back since I was unaware they had a presence in snow sports gear but these bibs have treated me flawlessly. Just bought a new pair for my pops.

Comfy, warm, room to move but not too baggy. Would recommend to anyone.

I was a bit skeptical coming into these pants as many people have talked about weird sizing issues, but I found that they fit perfectly and didn’t ride up at all. The material feels very robust and I haven’t seen any damage so far with some early season expeditions.

The pants also have a lot of pockets and nice to have features making them overall a really really good value.

Haven’t gotten to wear them riding. Only reason I gave them a 4/5 star is I feel like they could be a lil conference. But again they haven’t been ridden in yet so they’ll probably loosen up. The only other negative is no insulation, which doesn’t seem to be offered on most high end bibs from all the brands these days.

Color scheme is sick, the sizing seems accurate, and the material seems durable.

I purchased two pairs of the Powder Queen snow bibs, one for each of my university age daughters. One small for my 5’8″ tall thin daughter and a medium for my 5’3″ medium build daughter. The small were a perfect for for the tall thin girl.

The medium were on the long side for the shorter – medium build girl. They are both avid skiers with a race background. They are fussy about their ski gear and had trouble finding ski pants they were happy with.

They both loved these ski pants. Good fit and they love the bib feature. I will write a follow-up after a full season of wear.

They fit a little smaller. I followed the online fit guide and ended up exchanging them for 1 size bigger. The exchange process was very simple and quick! The look is exactly what I was looking for. The zipper quality is good.

They are warm and comfortable. Would recommend purchasing. But would also recommend sizing up.

I’m 5’2″ and an adult, this would have worked really well except that I have a longer torso than the average person. Def recommend if you’re shorter or have a shorter torso, it’s a really pretty color!.

Definitely adorable, lots of room for my (almost) 6 year old to grow. Straps easy to adjust, comfy fit with elasticized side panels and legs not too baggy/bulky. Color matches her new Roxy coat perfectly.

Been looking for a good bib for a while, and this is one of the best I’ve found. I usually rock an XL for a bit more of the baggy 90’s rider fit I grew up with. No moose knuckle, and sits just right on the waist / shoulders with no adjustment needed.

Warm, good pocket design, good zippers and hardware. Really appreciate the wider leg opening to fit over the boots and over the binding. Already used it in rainy / slushy conditions and it was perfect.

All the flex I need for some hiking, good saddle design for a rider with a wide stance. For a 3L fabric, the material is super soft and doesn’t feel too rigid like my other 3L pants. Bought it to go with the matching Stoker jacket, and the style is pretty on point.

Caught some lookers checking it out, which was hilarious. Overall, solid purchase. Dakine know’s their market, and know’s how to design for a true rider in mind. Definitely going to be my new go-to setup and if it’s anything like the other Dakine gear I own, it’ll last a long time.

Stoker Bibs are leaving me lacking in the stoke department. First day of use the zipper head on left thigh vent broke in half. Now the zipper will not stay closed, good if your hot, bad if your not. Also, the seam that joins the back fabric to the front fabric failed as well.

Sent in a warranty claim two weeks ago. Zero response so far! Still skiing these pants everyday as the snow keeps falling, will be interesting to watch what fails next. For $480 I’d expect a lot better quality and customer support than this.

The pockets and features changed considerably from the 2020 model to the 2021 model. The latest 2021 model as far fewer pockets than the 2020 model. I prefer the older ones, thigh vent zippers were on the insides of the thighs and now they’re on the outsides.

Perhaps my zipper failure would not have happened if they were still on the insides, not sure but maybe. Anyways, I would not buy these again, even at a discount.

You have to be kidding me with this shoulder strap!!! Took this bib out today for the first time and had nothing but trouble. The plastic part of the strap mechanism just slides right out of the loop that is attached to the bib.

There’s nothing to stop it from coming out! Not only that, you can’t tighten the strap without it just loosening again. This is 2022 people! Why not a basic plastic buckle? Why have an opening that can come undone? Both shoulder straps came off all day long!!! This is completely unacceptable for a 480$ bib! I simply don’t know how this design was approved to be sold to the masses.

Other than this catastrophe of a shoulder strap design I really like the bib! I’m calling customer service tomorrow!.

I’ve wanted to get a pair of these for the past few years and they are always out of stock. Which is probably a good sign that they are dialed in and in demand due to their dialed n-ness. I’ve had them for a couple weeks and have found them to be my instant favorite pair of outdoor winter bibs.

I took them on a little ski tour. I like the venting on the inner leg. The doubling of closures is smart too. Zippers and buttons are a nice way to ensure that if one fails the other will close up your stash.

The only consideration is having goretex patches in the same color way as the material. I already have ski-edge cuts above the cuff guards that I need to repair and there are no color matches to be had.

Not a big deal, but I’d be a nice addition to have a repair kit sent with the bibs. Thanks Dakine.

I really like the fabric, almost have a buttery, velvet touch. Dark blue is very subtle, can be a good alternative to true black. However the main concerns are: 1) the straps are like raw elastics , which don’t feel secure at all.

Might broke of slip from the buckle. 2) if don’t wear thick layers underneath, there will be extra fabric around the waist, which looks very weird. Had to return and kept another pair.

I had read about these online last year and believed they were the ones I would want but chose not to purchase because of price at time. When I saw them on EVO for a much lower price decided to order.

They are as raved about. They are designed for skiers as I have found other brands have design features more for boarders. One thing is that they are long by about 3-4 inches. I am 5’4″ / 125 and ordered a medium.

Also the shoulder bib clips are plastic and I hope they hold up through the seasons to come.

I know these are pricey for a toddler but let me tell you why it’s worth the cost. The Omni heat keeps the kids so warm! In MN we need heat to play outside. My kids will be out there for hours and they never come in complaining they are too cold in Columbia gear.

They do come in when it is in the 30s and sunny telling me they are too hot, what a problem to have. 🙂 The fit on these is great. Very true to clothing sizes. What I LOVE about these is the snow pants have Velcro locking straps.

This allows you to shorten or lengthen the pants as needed. It is amazing to think this way and it leaves them soft and easy to put on BY THEMSELVES! With the Omni Heat the outfits do not need to be as puffy to keep them warm which makes strapping them into car seats and such easier.

I have used the outgrow technology for years with my first child and because of it I can typically get 2 seasons, you heard right, 2 winters out of these sets. If you buy a 3T today you will not need a new one for the 4T size if your kids are normal growing and don’t have a huge growth spurt.

Love these sets, a little pricey but as long as I keep getting 2 seasons out of them totally worth the cost. Kids stay warm and DRY easily. These wash well too! Just only dry on low hat or hang them is the key.

Top Hint. if you can pull 2 seasons out of them sometimes you can pick up a set for the 3rd winter in the next size needed on sale as winter comes to a close. Also can find good deals at the outlets on these for black friday or on season change sales!.

I bought this item because it had good reviews. I’m really not disapointed ! It is very good. It’s warm, comfy and very practicle. Perfect in size, room for sweatshirts or a few layers, and still light ! The hood is perfect.

Colour is great (especially the pink/purple shining inside layer, that has a lot of success) ! The only point, not a big problem : my kid (3 years old) has some trouble when closing or opening the side pocket buttons, which are quite hard to manipulate.

If you wonder if it’s worth the shot, yes it sure is !.

Warm and light. It will be our go to winter jacket for sure. The sea ice colour is lovely and has a sparkly pink lining! The only thing I dislike about it is the use of cheap velcro fasteners on the suspenders.

You’d think at this price point the bib pants would come with adjuster buckles like the ones they have on other Columbia snow bibs.

Solidly made bibs! I like some of the details on these bibs, like the tear resistant cuff bottom and the silicone on the suspenders to keep them from slipping, stash pocket, etc. Solid fabric, but not too stiff! Keeps you fairly warm and very dry! If you ski in the Midwest be prepared to wear a heavy base layer on those cold days.

I. am 6’3″ and 195 with a long torso and 34″ inseam. I tried the Large and they weren’t quite long enough. Trew makes a long in their other products, but not this one, so I sized up to the XL and got the extra length I needed.

I like my pants on the baggy side, so this worked out for me. If you are looking for a closer fit and are slim, I would go with one of Trew’s other bibs in a Long.

All around great bib. Kept the snow out, for over my boots, waterproof was great. I used it for one mild era towel weekend at mammoth so I can’t speak to extreme conditions. Mustard color looks great.

I am 5’11 and 165 and ordered a medium and fit great. Would highly recommend.

I bought these for the 2020-2021 ski season, I was working the weekends / part time as a liftie. I wore a layer of thermals underneath, and some long ski socks, was never cold, they did a good job in that aspect, but it?s not like I did any crazy activities in them, and the stitching just came loose down on my right pant leg.

Kinda worthless with a hole in them. All my Columbia gear was still in great shape after the season, and their CEO was super nice when he came through the lift lines, gonna try the Columbia Powder Keg III this season instead.

These are still my favorite snowpants for the money. I buy a pair every year and put them through the wringer skiing and snowmobiling every winter. They are quite waterproof (to a point) and the bibs keeps me nice a warm.

If you are a liftie and wear snowpants everyday like the other reviewer I would definitely buy something more substantial but if you only ski 20-30 days a years or so these should last a couple seasons.

These are great bibs. Lightweight, easy to move in, not constricting. There are not heavily insulated so you have to have base layers depending on the temperature, but I love that my husband and sons can wear these regardless of the weather and customize the warmth on their own.

Makes them so much more useful. Good pockets too.
