20 Best Snorkel For Lap Swimming (2023 Updated)

I swim laps in a pool about one mile each time. I used the snorkel for 5 or 6 times and each time it took on water in the air tube. I tried adjusting the headband with no improvement. I thought I was swimming too fast but I have another snorkel by Finis that works great.

Finally, I realized the juncture where the mouthpiece attaches was leaking water. For the money I paid I expected a better product and have returned this item today.

My son needed this for his swimming and it was exactly what we were looking for. Came promptly and with no issues.

I was hesitant to purchase a swim snorkel but am so glad I did. It allows me to focus solely on form and also gives my neck some relief for longer sessions. I’ve read some reviews that said you have to bite the mouthpiece unusually hard to keep water out, but this has not been my experience at all.

I’ve had no issues with water leaking in, but there is a purge valve should this happen. There are 2 different caps that you can switch out to increase or decrease breathing resistance as well, and it comes with a mesh bag for storage.

I do recommend using a nose clip with the snorkel.

I’ve always used the Arena version because of one design point; the head gear turns so that you can move it off your face to communicate during workouts. Otherwise, top notch piece of equipment. Well made, gets the job done.

If there was half star option, I would have chosen 4 1/2, and only for the slight design difference.

Tried the Phelps snorkel but the way it was designed it leaked at the mouth piece an purge valve. Heard about the TYR snorkel and that it was better and didn’t leak so I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised how well it worked and performed.

Doesn’t leak and the way it seats on your forehead is superb.

I received my snorkel after much anticipation about changing my “go to” snorkel. I tried and tried AND tried to get my Aqua Lung Linea to hook to it but couldn’t. I never thought there would be any problem because after all, it’s just a snorkel.

The clip on the side makes it almost but not totally impossible to attach. I wear a Look 2 & Linea so now I’m thinking how the heck do I struggle to get it in the other mask if I need to. Plus I don’t travel with the snorkel attached so I know I’m going to have to fight with it before I snorkel again and again.

I know it’s going to break sooner or later because of the pull you have to put on it. If I had the box & receipt I would return it but I don’t. Very bummed!.

I had been doing extremely high intensity indoor bicycle spin works out burning 750+ calories in 40 minutes for years when I hurt my back and could no longer spin. My go to solution had always been to swim with a buoy between my legs and do a traditional stroke, thus kind of dragging my legs behind me and it would over a period of several weeks, start to separate my spin and an elevate the pinched sciatic nerve.

The issue was I could only swim about 20 lengths of the pool before I would run out of breath and have to stop. I tried 3 other traditional brand snorkels and found that each one of the mouth pieces would start leaking when I subconsciously started stressing/exserting myself or pushing hard off the walls.

I was lucky enough to see someone in the pool with a powerbreather and though I was surprised with the cost, decided if It could take away my pain sooner rather than later it was worth it. I was immediately able to swim 50 lengths of the pool and stopped only because I ran out of time.

I now swim 100 lengths of the pool, without stopping, pushing off the wall as hard as any competitive swimmer with zero to very minimal mouthpiece water leaks. This piece of equipment is a game changer! The people at Freediver Shop have been quick to replace any parts I may have lost.

Excellent product. I use daily in the swimming pool. It really does work the lungs to its fulll potential. I’ve been swimming regularly for 20 years and the difference it has made in a very short time has been incredible.

It was alien at first to use. I’d always used a conventional snorkel, so I thought i would take to it easily. I was wrong. It took about a week to start getting used to the resistance to inhale and exhale.

The results have been amazing indeed. I recommend this product for all swimmers, triathletes etc. My only negative comments are the price and shipping costs. I think British swimming shops need to get on board with this product and order large quantities to sell on.

This would then bring down costs. Since lockdown I’ve been back swimming about 4 weeks and my fitness levels now are amazing indeed. I think by using this product it initially has been the hardest swimming experience of my life, however I’m now taking it in my stride.

I was using another snorkel that fit like a hat and really didn’t like it. I saw someone using the power powerbreather and was intrigued. After lots of reviews I purchased the snorkel. Pandemic hit and it went into the closet.

I decided to start training again and excited to finally get to try this out. Boy was I disappointed and frustrated. Water was getting in everytime I inhaled so I was trying different positions making sure I wasn’t submerging the exit tunes.

I tried several positions even tried the side adjustments but ended with the same results. I was even just putting my face in the water standing in one position. Maybe this one is defective?.

In the absence of a wet test, the tube meets all expectations, including shipping. It is my first flexible snorkel and I was curious to have it in my hands: it twists without problems (not like to make a knot, but who would want to do it) and can be easily accommodated in pockets / compartments.

My concern is more if it will move a lot in immersion (loose), I have used other models (swimming front) and have had to keep them in the mouth to avoid jerks and discomfort. We will see :).

Perfect snorkel for free diving, super simple no thrills design, all you need for being underwater. I absolutely love that it is made of soft rubbery material, hence it bends easily and now I don’t ever have to worry about breaking it! Because when I backpack the world packing a long plastic snorkel without breaking has always been a big concern.

One nuance though, it does detach fairly easily, especially during the ascent, so I’d strongly recommend buying an extra rubber ring to hold your snorkel; otherwise you’ll spend more time underwater trying to retrieve it from the bottom than to actually enjoy the scenery.

I was a little worried when they said there was a small hole for getting air But when trying it was excellent and it is very easy to breathe !!! When buying your goggles make sure they are not too big because it does sit close to your face, but that is a good thing.

I love it and wish I had one sooner!!!.

This snorkel works perfectly for me. It’s a center mount, perfect for laps in the pool. Note, this one does not have a purge valve at the bottom, which some do. I prefer without like this one. It’s comfortable, and easy to adjust – easy on and easy off.

Recommend nose plugs when you use snorkel, at first.

Great purchase for my son who is a avid ocean swimmer. He will get lots of miles out of them.

I am a life long single-side breather. This snorkel was positioned as a stepping stone to transition to dual-side breathing, so it was purchased for that purpose even though the price tag seemed rather steep.

It takes some getting used to. The complaints in other reviews about water going up the nose are valid. I have to breathe in from the snorkel and out through my nose as a counter, which alters my normal breathing pattern (that can be a good thing, actually).

Flip-turns are equally challenging as often the snorkel can’t be cleared in a single blast; that led to more open turns than I would like. Having said that, the snorkel definitely forces me to balance my stroke.

After 200 yards of swimming I could feel select parts of muscles get a little fatigued that would normally take much longer. Another surprising consequence was how it made me think about my kicking in a way that a kick-board does not.

I can really feel the difference when I take off the snorkel and swim regularly. Who knew? Bottom line: Use this as a training aid in parts of your workout just like you would paddles, a pull-buoy, or a kick board and you should be happy with the results.

However, if you are looking for a device to wear full time during swimming, you may disappointed.

The Speedo Centre Snorkel is fantastic for swimmers during a training session. I purchased the Speedo Centre Snorkel and found it great as it allowed me to focus on my stroke technique, also helping to keep my body alignment correct in the water.

I use many of Speedo’s training products, I find them all very helpful and the Speedo Centre Snorkel is another fantastic product and I highly recommend it for squad swimmers.

I’ve had Finis before. Too simplistic and not adjustable. The speedo is my third swimming snorkel and the best I’ve had. Durable and travels well. Use it Upstate at the Mine Kill State Park Aquatic center where they don’t allow snorkels.

But after consulting with their state supervisor, it was endorsed and approved. Ultimate recommendation. The negative comments I’ve read are just the reasons I like it. Goggles that cover the nose or nose clips are a simple solution.

An inexpensive top valve another simple fix. Too big and bulky, what weenies. This snorkel is for real swimmers, not dainty little two shoes. WaaaWaaaaWaaaa! Grow up and get a life.

This is a great snorkel. It does the job and I like the fact that the mouthpiece is not too big.very happy with my purchase.

I have many products from this company and for the most part they work extremely well. This snorkel on the other hand is the worst design I have ever used. I work for a company that carries these for sale.

I have used 4 different Laguna 2 snorkels and have encountered the same problems with each. -The valve on top closes to easily and restricts airflow with wind, any splashing water and often simply by tilting one’s head.

-In the event there is water in the snorkel the base holds it too close to one’s mouth causing it to breath extremely wet. -The snorkel is harder than most to clear when water is in the snorkel. -Any snorkel designed by a dive company that features a hook on the top shows a clear lack of thought in thste design process.

I have seen many student turn their heads to the left only to have the snorkel hook on a hose coming off of their regulator.

I recently purchased one of these despite some of the negative reviews about it. It simply restricts my breathing too much for it to be usable. Upon closer examination there is little wonder why. First off, it mounts by sliding inside of the snorkel tube.

This provides a restriction in itself, because it”s using a smaller piece of tubing to slide inside of a larger one, reducing inside tubing diameter at the end. Next, (and even more important) is the opening going into the main housing.

It”s not even half size of the inside diameter of the end which inserts into the snorkel. It”s essentially like trying to suck air through a straw. First, the dry top should be made so that it slides outside over the snorkel tube rather than inside it.

A rubber gasket should be incorporated into the end to insure that it keeps water out. Next, the housing needs to be reconfigured. It needs to be done in such a way so as to avoid the internal restriction I spoke of earlier.

So the concept of this was a good idea and I really wanted it to work. But unfortunately while the device might solve one problem it just ends creating another, making it a waste of my money. Sorry guys, need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Great product. The valve it has prevents water from entering the Olympic turns. He forces his breath a little. Not as much as Finis Cárdio Cap (which further restricts breathing hypoxically, developing respiratory muscles).

It fulfills its intended function. It has a grid that prevents accidental suction of insects (for those who are swimming in camping air) or foreign bodies. This is the initial step and then follow up with Cardio Cap.

Good afternoon, I bought them glide tuba snorkeling finis. My son says it’s not worth it, because there is a valve near the nozzle so that when you turn to expel the water entering it. I saw this piece and if not her, even without the valve, you can turn without getting water.

It really is not the function that the valve on the photo because they have put out a tuba valve too. Thank you very much for your attention, waiting for their news, receive a greeting Ana.

The XS Scuba M-Line 3D flex snorkel was a perfect match for the snorkeling I was doing. The valve functioned without fail – the ability to expel unwanted water was dependable and reliable. My only issue was with the clip to the mask- here for the value and function of the snorkel- this could have been better made from a heavier plastic material.

After several years of carrying my cargo snorkel in my bc pocket it came apart at the seem where the mouthpiece attaches. But I love having a snorkel available without having it flop around when I don’t, so I ordered another.

Great product, rolls up nice and compact. It would be great if they could alter the manufacturing process to eliminate the problem I had so it would last longer.

I am slowly upgrading all of my equipment. I have been using an ancient snorkle so I am really looking forward to using this (new to me) dry snorkle. Very nice looking, well-made and comfortable. I was concerned it might be top heavy with the one-way valve at the top but was pleasantly surprised to find that it is not at all.

I just purchased this snorkle so I have not had an opportunity to try it out so I cannot speak to it’s performance but look forward to testing it out.

This snorkel is opposite of everything Atomic claims it is. It does very poorly in choppy conditions, is extremely wet and very hard to clear, especially clearing nuisance water. I was looking for a better snorkel.

Currently have an old Scuba Pro Shot Gun 2. Twin valve, open top. I tested the two side by side swimming along a choppy, south facing beach. Wind about 15 knots out of the south. I swam 15 minutes east, then 15 minutes west with each snorkel.

The Atomic was prone to taking on water in both directions whereas the Scuba Pro was surprisingly dry. It was hard to clear small amounts of water from the Atomic and that needed to be done constantly.

The SP clears far more easily and if it does get a bit swamped, because of the SP’s simple open top, you can plug it with your thumb and be dry on the next exhale. You cannot do this with the Atomic due to the design of the top.

Which is supposed to help keep it dry, but it fails miserably in this category. The Atomic tends to lay forward on the head so it is never even close to perpendicular to the water meaning you must crane your neck upwards to keep the Atomic out of the water.

Put your head down in a neutral position and the next wave is guaranteed to enter. It is really a poor design. I would not recommend it.

I don’t normally do reviews but for this it’s worth it. I have tried this out for the last 10days in Lanzarote I can say how comfortable the mouth piece is, I have small adult mouth and a plate in my front teeth, not once did I feel it pull on my teeth, I didn’t get jaw ache which I’ve had with bigger size, I also think it’s more flexible, when I’m home I will buy another so I’ve a spare, I’m really impressed.

The scupper valve works great. If it is completely filled with water a moderate blow will expel water from the top and bottom of the snorkel. With more water inside the tube, it clears easier because of the siphoning action.

When a small amount of water enters, it may require 3 blows to get out. The wave guard works good too. In moderately choppy waters, none entered the vent. The ventilation was good too as the bore is wide enough to allow heavy breathing.

The snorkel keeper rotates and move up and down. It fits a bit slack on my ‘Cressi big eyes evolution crystal’ mask, because the straps are not wide enough. The snorkel is also heavy compared to my cressi corsica.

I primarily Snorkel/Freedive in 80/20 % of the time in tropical waters. This snorkel has a flexible tube with no J type support. My mouth was getting tired and my teeth hurt from biting hard to keep the snorkel in my mouth, as I had to support the weight of the bottom part of the mouthpiece.

I could snorkel for over 3 hrs. straight with the cressi corsica with no mouth fatigue. Not a bad snorkel, but for the price, it is the most expensive piece of plastic that I own. This snorkel was designed for scuba divers who need to save oxygen while getting out or back to the boat.

The flexible mouthpiece tube was also made to swing away from the mouth and thus accomodate the regulator. It was not designed for snorkelers who require a snorkel with a J support for prolonged use.

I would order the Cressi corsica or the Riffe J snorkel next time.

The best snorkel for swimming. It may require some adapting to those who either swim without a snorkel or those who swim with a traditional snorkel. But to me, not turning the head or requirement for breathing technique to get air doing freestyle, and having constant fresh air (and not what I just exhaled) in the snorkel makes a huge difference in the comfort while swimming.

It’s as if I was back scuba-diving with constant fresh air. Brilliant. Add to this the most amazing customer service. I managed to lose a piece recently and sure enough, replacement was in the mail immediately.

Happy to 100% recommend the Powerbreather. :).

TAKES A WHILE TO GET THE HANG OF IT. MY BREATHING IS MUCH BETTER AFTER USING I GUESS MY LONGS ARE GETTING STRONGER. MY NECK DOES NOT HURT AFTER USING AND I CAN EXTEND MY SWIMMING TIME TO 30 MINUTES WITH THE CRAWL AND 30 MINUTES BACK STROKE.

I HAVE LOST 9 POUNDS IN 3 WEEKS GOING TO POOL 3 DAYS A WEEK. I WOULD DO A COMERCIAL ANY TIME PROMOTING THIS PRODUCT. MANY PEOPLE IN THE POOL ASK ME ABOUT THE POWER BREATHER AND I EXPLAIN AND TELL THEM WHERE TO BUY IT.

I have a new puppy and this travel bag is perfect for him when we are on the go. Since he is crate trained he loves this home away from home. I like it because it is stylish and the over the shoulder strap makes carrying it a breeze.

This is much easier to travel around with instead of his regular crate. Because he is a small breed dog this carrier will still be perfect for when he hits his adult size. I also love that it fully unzips for easy cleaning.

They don’t make a good snorkel anymore. This one does the job but doesn’t have an in-line purge. It is it is rigid. And works well for free diving as well as scuba diving. The clip is lame but nothing a dollar strap can’t fix.

If you are looking for a snorkel to go sightseeing with, this is NOT the snorkel for you. This snorkel was designed, like all other Omer gear, with the hunter in mind. The snorkel has a large bore with a simple shape which makes breathing extremely easy, perfect for the freediver trying to catch his breath at the surface.

The curved area of the “J” in this snorkel is quite flat which does not allow water to collect as was the case with traditional “J” tubes. My favorite thing about this snorkel has to be its flexibility.

This come in handy when poking your head under structure looking for hiding fish. With the rigid snorkels the top of the tube would rub on the roof of the structure and sometimes even get caught. This can be quite irritating.

With the flexible snorkel this is eliminated. The keeper that comes with the snorkel DOES move. It slides up and down the tube and can even be taken off with a little effort. To get the most comfortable fit one has to have a few trials and errors.

I took off the provided keeper and placed a loop on the side of my mask strap. The tube is then pushed through this loop and held from slipping out with a traditional keeper. Once again, this snorkel is not for the sightseeing snorkler.

There are snorkels out there that clear easier, are more forgiving when it comes to taking in water, fit better and easier. This snorkel is for the hunter just to catch his breath at the surface, spit out the mouth piece, and then back down again.

Had it for about two years now, no problems. Cheers.
