20 Best Smartwatch For Samsung Galaxy S6 (2023 Updated)

Upgraded from the 4. I exercise pretty much daily. Bike, Run, Weight Lifting, HIIT, etcetera. Battery Life: Auto bright, Raise to Wake, Continuous HR, is around 50 hours which is about 10hrs more. I don’t have social media, but get a fair number of emails, texts daily.

Charging Speed: The charger is significantly faster from 0 to 80%. Around 50 minutes. It will take around 30min to charge the last 20%. The charging speed is my favorite new item and makes it worth the upgrade to me! Heartrate: When I got the 4 it had some HR challenges, especially on bike, which is not good for many, even the garmin, at times.

The 4 had improved with updates. The 5 is getting lost, at times, but it’s recording data and finding the HR again quickly and overall, I am not frustrated with it. I have been using constantly for 3 weeks and had one run where the run app failed to record the HR, but the daily HR was recorded during the exercise(bug I suspect).

I had one “other workout” where it just wouldn’t get HR connected to start a workout for several minutes, reboot, etcetera. Otherwise, wrist based HR is somewhat inaccurate for all watches, at times.

Check it manually, occasionally, by pulse and record nuances in the notes if you really love working out. Pretty much everything else about the watch is identical to the 4. No complaints. It would be nice to see some updates to the OS that incorporate new features.

“Tiles” are kind of a dated and only having one complex on a tile could easily be changed to allow a quick scroll (like a webpage) through many health complexes or email, text, social media posts, summary like a webpage.

I bought the Watch 4 for my wife as a birthday gift, she has been wanting a smart watch for sometime now. I spent weeks researching different brands and options and settled on the Watch 4 because we have S10 phones and they advertise that they are great fitness trackers.

My wife loves to run so I purchased the LTE model so she would always have a way to call or text someone if she needed while tracking her miles and pace. She used the Watch for a couple of months before it started doing weird things.

It started to randomly answer calls on the Watch instead of the phone even when you picked up the phone and not the Watch. Battery life was terrible it wouldn’t last more than 12 hours, apps would randomly turn on.

Finally the screen went white and there was no way to reboot the Watch. I sent it in for repair as it was still under warranty and they emailed me back to say it wasn’t under warranty due to water damage.

I explained to them that the only “water” it could have been in contact with was sweat. They told me there was nothing that they could do it wasn’t under warranty. I have found several other people that have had the same problem.

The watch 4 is falsely advertised as water resistant and you can use it for swimming laps with it. Samsung will not allow me post this review on their website! DO NOT BUY this watch, save yourself the headaches and money!!!.

Okay, Ive had the Gear S3 Frontier Bluetooth version for about a month now and feel like I need to share my opinion on the latest generation wearable from Samsung. Let me start by saying I have had three other smart watches.

One android wearable, a Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear S. I guess you could say that Im a bit of a watch fanatic since I have many other nonsmart watches I enjoy wearing too, but I digress. My first impression is that Samsung spent some time to make a quality timepiece.

It looks elegant, as an expensive watch should, and feels solid. Im sure this will take a beating and keep going however beating a watch is not in my nature, so this is just an assumption based on the impression it get from handling this watch.

The Frontier has a nice outdoor rugged look which is why I chose it but that is personal taste. I really went back and forth since I wear a suit most days of the week and I think the Classic would have worked well too.

Ive owned 2 squarerectangular faced watches and 2 round face watches and I normally would say that you should buy for your own taste, but with the addition of the outside bezel that assists in navigating through options, widgets and menus Im forced to say the round face on the S3 is the only way to go.

Its amazing how one simple design change could make such a great difference in your experience with a smart watch but Samsung hit it out of the park with the addition of the bezel control. I still use the touch screen quite a bit but its nice when you have potato chip fingers, to be able to navigate your way around without messing up the display.

Again you can see Im a fanatic about caring for my watchesThe display on this watch is phenomenal Its actually a pleasure to stare at this watch which makes it a lot of fun to try and find a watch face you like.

By the way, there may not be a ton of apps available but there are plenty of watch faces to choose from. The colors are vibrant and the display is bright, making photos look really nice, although as I get older, I would rather look at much larger pictures, but for those with younger eyes, I promise youll be impressed.

The Gear S3 has worked well for my fitness needs Its a little heavier than a fitness tracker but for me it provides all the same stats. Ive never had a problem with it registering my heart rate and the numbers provided for BPM, steps, miles and floors seem quite accurate but Im not a professional runner and if it were off a few yards over 5 miles I wouldnt know it nor would I care.

To me, all this information provides incentive to work out and motivation to push myself from the last workout. I should mention here that I do have the watch remind me to move if Ive been sitting at work too long Now if you want the most accuracy and youre running outside rather than on a treadmill youll be pleased to know it comes with GPS.

The only downside is that it takes a few minutes to acquire the satellite signal but that gives you a chance to stretch first. Theres also room to store music on this watch if you dont want to carry your phone when you run.

It will sync with Bluetooth headset so you can carry your favorite tunes, listen to them without wires while you run and leave your phone at home. The speaker on this thing is remarkable too. Every sound is crystal clear and can be loud if you want.

I played some music though the speaker on the watch and it blew me away for such a tiny speaker, however I would recommend a headset for your runs. The sleep tracking feature worried me a little when I read reviews.

What scared me was that people would say the watch would run out of battery by 3 or 4 in the morning. My experience has been completely different, of course I do make some adjustments that may be helping.

First Ive found a watch face that sucks very little battery and in the always on display mode its just two red hands Mickey Face Red. Then I turn on Do Not Disturb, turn the display all the way down and shut off sound and vibrate.

Ive used the sleep tracking app that comes with the watch and Ive used the Sleep as Andriod app. In fact, Ive used them both at the same time and never used more than 15 battery on my most wrestles night.

I prefer using the Sleep as Android app because it allows the alarm to wake me up with vibration to the watch. Yes, even though Ive turned off the sound including vibration on the watch when I go to bed, it still allows the alarm from the Sleep as Android to vibrate and wake me up.

The vibration of the watch doesnt wake up my wife on those early morningsThe battery could last me easy two days with as much as I use it. I know Samsung says 4 days but if youve got such a beautiful display and tool on your wrist youll want to show it off, so use it.

The really cool thing about this watch is the fantastic charging unit that comes with it. Theres no need to plug it in or clamp on a battery. You just set it in the charging stand and it charges up for you fast.

I generally take it off for 3060 minutes in the morning when Im getting ready for work and 3060 minutes as Im getting ready for bed and the thing rarely goes below 75 charge. Another review I read said that their banking institution wasnt setup to allow the use of Samsung Pay, so I had to try that first thing.

Im sure this will vary based on everyones individual institution however I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was I able to use the credit card from my bank but also from my credit union.

It took just minutes to set up and was really slick when I checked out at the register. Just two pushes on the back button, tap on which card you want to use, put your watch next to the terminal and youre done Im sure I will be using this feature a lotLastly let me say that I dont miss having the LTE capability I have with my Gear S.

I rarely took advantage of the standalone phone capabilities and defiantly not enough to justify the extra cost including the monthly fee the service provider charged for the phone number. In summary, Im head over hills with the quality, looks and function of the Gear S3.

It was easy to set it up, but Ive had other smart watches so Ive had a little practice and for the month Ive owned had it, it has performed well in every aspect. So if youve got some dollars burning a hole in your pocket this might be an enjoyable place to spend them I highly recommend checking this out.

I previously had the Original Galaxy Watch which was nothing but a glorified notification device and very slow, buggy, and cumbersome to use. I waited to upgrade for 3 more iterations (2, 3, 4) hoping a lot of the bugs would be worked it.

And honestly this watch is still more or less a glorified notification device and is basically worthless if you’re a Verizon customer and use Verizon proprietary apps because you cannot download them on your watch.

For example, if you use the Verizon Messages App and go to start a new message from your watch it requires you to set a different message app as default in order to start a message. What’s the point? Why would Verizon sell something that is incompatible with it’s native proprietary apps? For some reason if you receive a message on your watch, it shows up as being from the Verizon Messages app and you can respond to it, however if you swipe it away there’s no way to get back to it and again no way to start a new one.

So it’s only 1 way compatible or what does this mean??? What’s even worse, I initiated a chat with Tech support who had absolutely no idea whether the Verizon Messages app was compatible with the Galaxy Watch.

The person on the chat promised me a resolution in the beginning and then could not deliver and kept wasting my time asking me to check the app store which I already informed them I had done and was the reason I initiated the chat (i.

e to see if the app was compatible or not). Also, the standalone feature is garbage, if you do try to respond to a message and you aren’t near your watch, it either will not be able to send the message or it will say, cannot send from phone, use watch number instead? What’s the point??? Additionally, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve answered a call on my watch as I’m headed back to my phone only to get back to my phone and find out I can’t transfer the call to my phone (S22 Ultra).

The workout/fitness stuff seems ok I guess but if you want to separately measure your heartbeat you better not move a muscle or it will give you a sensor error, however if you have activated a workout on the watch, somehow it shows as being able to read your heartbeat the whole time no matter how much you are moving, how does this make any sense at all? The individual heartbeat app makes you hold still but the heartbeat monitor built into the workout isn’t the same? So if you haven’t activated a workout and you are doing cardio for example, how the heck can you get a reading without stopping and holding absolutely still? I absolutely love my Galaxy S22 Ultra, I’ve been a Samsung Galaxy Phone user since the Note 3 but Samsung’s Watches seem to be Garbage, and moreso on on Verizon.

My wife has an Apple watch and iPhone 13 (both on Verizon as well) and I am SUPER impressed at how well the Apple Watch works and what it can do (I would get one if it were possible to use it with my phone).

She never has problems and can literally leave her phone at home and have basically the same functionality on her watch from miles away and it uses her phone number (not a watch number). Samsung is INFINITELY far behind on the watch side and needs to step it up BIG TIME and so is Verizon on their Proprietary apps.

I’ve been using the Galaxy Watch 4 since its release and I have been quite happy with it as an overall smartwatch. It does some things very well, like notifications for texts, emails, phone calls, and NFC payments.

It has some great aesthetics too, like numerous watch faces to choose from and band styles that are easily interchangeable. Now for what its terrible at: Heart rate monitoring The heart rate is used to approximate calories burned along with other factors.

This is a feature active individuals, like myself, rely on when exercising, or simply staying on top of daily heart health. In no uncertain terms, the watch simply sucks at monitoring the heart rate.

The watch is totally terrible at providing a constant update to the heart rate. For example, as I’m doing a set of weighted chest presses, the watch shows my heart rate is elevated, which is expected.

The rate displayed is approximately close to what I feel and calculate in my pulse. As I sit and relax and my heart rate lowers, the watch completely fails to reevaluate this change in heart rhythm fast enough.

Nearly 2 minutes after my exercise set and the watch still shows the same elevated heart rate, but I can feel my pulse and simply calculate that my heart rate has dropped significantly, but the watch has no clue and hasn’t adjusted the rate.

The watch almost needs 3-5 minutes to accurately recalcuate, and by that point you’ve moved on. You need to remove the watch from your wrist, so that it doesn’t detect your pulse anymore, and reattach it for the sensors to take a new evaluation, and this won’t happen for several more minutes.

All of this means that the approximate calories burned during your exercise are WAY off. Until this is fixed, I cannot recommend this watch to anyone looking for a fitness tracker. As a simple smartwatch, it’s great.

For a fitness tracker, it’s simply terrible.

Switched from the watch active 2 to this, and it was a painful step backwards. I originally assumed that the poor reviews were from people with unrealistic expectations from a reasonably priced watch, but I was very wrong.

The battery life is actually genuinely incredibly poor (I thought people were exaggerating) it will not make a day with reasonable settings. Fortunately this aspect doesn’t bother me too much (it can make a day if you turn off all smart features, but makes the device somewhat redundant) as I only use the watch for listening to music while running.

Here are the issues I have with it. – [Most frustrating] It cannot be turned on and used for music, you need to budget about 20 minutes each time to use the offline music function. The watch needs to be left for about 15 minuets after turning on before it stops lagging painfully slowly.

And you often have to turn it on and off multiple times before it allows you to play music without an internet connection. (In an ideal world you’d just put it on, leave the house and downloaded playlist would continue – this does not happen – if you don’t turn on aeroplane mode before leaving, disconnecting from you phone and wifi, prior to leaving you’ll have to spend about 10 minuets fiddling around with it outside, which is more annoying than doing it before.

– Heart rate and gps sensors are terrible; doesn’t bother me, but I find it perverse having come from the cheaper (at time of release) active watch 2. – The software experience is horrible, the watch freezes constantly, it has less options and apps just continuously close, forcing you to turn off and on the watch multiple times if you want to use it properly (i.

e. change the music playing). Apps are generally terrible, i. e. spotify has no offline playlist (it does on the WA2) youtube music has offline (which is painful to use as previously stated), but you cannot pick songs that you want played (on or offline) it has a shuffle option that only plays them in one order (i.

e. if you run for 30 mins everytime you have to listen to the exact same 8 songs in the exact same order even if your watch has downloaded a 500 song playlist). I’m sat typing this as I once again reset the watch and attempt to get it to work so I can go on a run, normally the 10 min on/off process is annoying, but not enough to actually write a review, but it’s pushing 20 minutes now, and I realize that I have to put the watch away in my draw and buy another either garmin or just the Samsung watch active 2.

The product is painfully bad, an incredibly frustrating experience and if you read this and buy it (as I did after reading negative reviews) you ultimately have yourself to blame when you shallow the loss and buy a second smart watch to replace it.

but when I do, they are usually harshly critical. Not this time. I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Frontier smartwatch for one purpose only – MST – the ability to pay from my (portable device) regardless of whether the merchant supported contactless.

It used to be a feature of Samsung Pay and Galaxy phones (prior to the S21/Note 20) and watches (prior to Gear 4). I loved being able to walk up to almost any credit card machine and use my Note 10+, but traded it in for the S22 Ultra (kind of a bad move, except for the camera).

But. seing this Galaxy Frontier with LTE in better than “Used” condition. I jumped on it. The watch is flawless, I can barely detect any scratches. And. strangely enough. it works BETTER with Google Voice than my Fossil Carlyle running Wear OS 2.

I bought this watch to replace a Fitbit a few years back. I had been keeping my eyes open for something that worked well with my Samsung Galaxy phone and this was the perfect fit. It has easy access buttons, lots of free watch faces, you can answer use is to talk on the phone (with in bluetooth range) and the steps, heart rate and other options are pretty high quality.

When I first bought the watch, I’d get almost 3 full days on a full charge. Now a couple years later, I get about 1. 5 days. The battery has fluctuated up and down over the years from updates that drain battery, then updates that fix it.

Right now I’m happy and hopefully it doesn’t change. My only complaint is that it isn’t safe to wear under water for longer than 30 minutes. This watch is good for a splash an oopsy in the water, and apparently light swimming, but not to be worn under water over 1.

5 meters for more than 30 minutes. I honestly don’t want to risk it. The more current samsung watches have better water proofing. I’ll wear this thing until it dies.

this is my 2nd gear s3, both have lacked basic wristwatch functions right out of the box. i shouldn’t have to download a separate app to add stopwatch functionality. additionally, at about 2 years of ownership of each, they both seem to slow down and not do various things.

they both stopped giving text notifications. my 2nd one will not charge fully because the screen does not turn off if it is on the charger. it will constantly display that it is charging but once it reaches 100% it will stop charging and then use whatever charge it has to keep the display on despite me verifying the correct screen/display settings.

So i bought this to replace my LG G watch R that i cracked. I like the g watch and i chose it because it was one of the first round smart watches vs the old squares they all used to be. But when i got this one.

It was amazing at first super easy to pair. Being gogo gadget with a watch you can have a phone call over etc. Years have gone by now and its still going 3 generation of improvement have come out yet i havent felt the need to upgrade yet (more on that in a moment) ive been rocking climbing many times with it and while i dont recommend it if you want it look pristine for ever i like the worn look and it gives it character.

Glass is still unscathed luckily. And i dont regret buying this watch at all!However with all if this said. Im now after looking to upgrade as in the past months the battery life has severely tappered off (which is ok as i expected to happen way sooner then it has.

The [brand:samsung] Gear classic S3 is a premium grade, rugged and durable, smart watch. It has an array of sensors to keep both the causal, business and sport users happy. Want to keep active? It reminds you to do some sort of movement every hour.

Want to record that workout, it’s got you covered. As well as your calendar appointments, it syncs seamlessly with your phone to forward only the notifications that you want it to share. Overall, it’s a solid and durable smartwatch with a good 26-30 hour battery.

Though not nearly as advanced as Samsung’s latest and greatest, the original Galaxy Gear does cover most of the basics – time, notifications, email, messages, pedometer, timer, stopwatch, etc. As a bonus you also get a marginally useful 1.

9m pixel camera. The watch itself is well made and still good looking. It’s available in an interesting array of colors, including one with a rose gold finish and off-white watch band. What really makes this watch a great value, though, is that it can be easily upgraded from its original custom Android OS (the only Samsung watch that used it) to the Tizen OS used on the rest of the Gear line (except for the Gear Live, which used the Android Wear OS.

) This free firmware upgrade for all intents and purposes turns the watch into the newer, much more capable Gear 2, which costs nearly twice as much as the Galaxy Gear on the eBay market. Yes, it doesn’t have the heart rate monitor, slightly better camera, and slightly better design of the Gear 2, but under the hood, it’s the same OS that can run the same apps.

As a bonus, on Tizen OS, the watch will run more smoothly and get better battery life. At present, you can find nice examples in the $50-60 range, making them a very good value indeed, especially once they’re running Tizen.

So far, i have had this for several weeks. The good: Increased battery life for phone due to not having to check notifications on screen. Good call quality to make up for the Otterbox Preserver case on my S4 that people have complained about sounding hollow.

Able to silence phone and simply get notifications by vibrate on watch which is far less intrusive when in a meeting or hanging out. Able to preset text responses to choose from when using the watch to reply.

Decent camera. It also automatically crossloads to your phone any pictures or viseo. Full access to your contacts. Media controller on the watch will also show any album cover art for the song playing.

The bad: By and far my biggest complaint for this device is the susceptibility of the watch band to allow moisture into the camera housing. This then requires you to pull the access flap open, unplug and remove the camera and blow it out with canned air or something and then reinsert the camera.

Limited apps. Uses S Voice for all other text entry. Sometimes have to restart the watch to get it to accept what i say. Watch band is limited on size. Overall: All in all i have been happy with this device.

I am actually so happy with it i am considering if it is worth it to upgrade to the Gear S.

I ordered this watch for my boyfriend as a gift. He has a Samsung Galaxy III phone, so this is perfectly compatible with it. He hasn’t gone anywhere without it since I gave it to him! It can answer calls with great quality, adjust the sound on his phone speaker, and reply to texts so easily.

It is great while walking or working, and super convenient. The camera is also a nice feature with pretty nice daytime images. There are plenty of apps and ways to customize the watch as well- he was able to add pictures to the home screen and create instant text replies, for some examples of this.

The watch itself is a nice and light weight design, and the mocha-grey color matches just about everything. It has been through some light rain showers with no damages either. The battery life lasts throughout an entire day, even with decently heavy usage.

I would definitely recommend the watch to anyone who wants something new to figure out and play around with. It is a great conversation starter and useful tool to have. Also a really unique gift idea for anyone who is interested in technology!.

In a word, this watch is incredible. As a long time tech geek I am familiar with all manner of gadget but this one really sets a new bar. On my wrist is a machine which has more power & functionality than many of my previous personal computers.

The speakers, which some reviews said were no good, are much better than I had expected, and not just because of the bad reviews – because they are built into a TINY watch, so I was not expecting much at all.

And yet the sound is robust and crisp, despite it’s small beginnings. The tracks sound great, even when I am driving. The OS interface is wonderful, it’s incredible easy to move from screen to screen and to type using the phone based format.

Some apps are still buggy with the new keyboard API, but updates are being released pretty frequently. Of course I wish it had a longer battery life, but I would not want this watch to be any heavier or larger than it is, so I’ll take what I can get.

A screen brightness of 6 is more than enough for indoors, and the watch is good for about 16 hours (measuring my heartbeat every 10 min, the most frequent setting). I use a bright, animated, active watch face (the worst for battery life) so presumably I could get even farther if I were willing to sacrifice info in the watch face (which I am not).

I do not use the “Always On” feature, that just seems silly given the assumption of limited battery life. The one feature I looked for which is not yet present is sleep tracking, considering this thing is on my wrist all night and could theoretically do that.

I saw a few enterprising folks had created pay apps for this but I am looking for it to be added to the default health app for this wearable, hopefully soon. I have already banged this up a little and gotten dirt & moisture on it but the bezel & face still look & behave as though they are brand new (after a quick cleaning as per the instructions of course).

In short this product is an incredible achievement, both in physical design and in the interface. I am familiar with product development, software development, and user interface design – what I see in front of me here is nothing short of a miracle of technological achievement, when one considers the teams of hardware & software development required to bring this from the design stages to reality.

I can safely assume I will be standing on a Samsung holodeck at some point in the near future. Possibly controlled from my watch.

As I mentioned in my Samsung Gear S2 first impressions, I’ve been on the hunt for my perfect smartwatch for a couple years. The Apple Watch is close, but the lack of GPS and self-contained cellular service keep it from perfection.

These are both functions that are available in the Samsung Gear S2 and once again Samsung is beating Apple to the punch. I purchased a Gear S2 3G from T-Mobile about 10 days ago and have taken it out on four runs in my attempt to figure out if it is indeed the perfect smartwatch for me.

This Samsung Gear 2 Smart Watch is the best! I’m a Real Estate professional and always on the go. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped my new Samsung Note 8 and smashed the glass screen protector while pulling it out of my pocket to see who’s calling or to read a text message.

With this Smart Watch, all I have to do is look at it and it will tell me who’s calling or messaging me. I can send a reply or answer the phone right from the watch. I can talk to the watch and it will reply for me, or I can talk to the caller right over the watch.

There are a lot of screen you can set up so that with a single swipe of your finger you can access favorite contacts, the weather, the news, health apps, and more. The side buttons let you access many more apps with one push.

This watch allows me to still be engaged with the clients I’m working with and not offend them by constantly pulling out my phone to communicate with whoever is on the other end. I’ve purchased many other replacement bands to match my outfits.

People are very interested in my watch when I’m using it. You can use voice commands to navigate the watch as well. I’m VERY happy with my purchase. The battery life is very great as well, I can use the watch all day and only have used 30 to 40 percent of the batter at most.

Charges really fast as well. I would highly recommend this watch.

I wanted it specifically to measure workouts and pair with the Samsung Workout Trainer, but when I went to get moving the app wouldn’t recognize the watch was available (keeping in mind I was using it to control Spotify whilst this was occurring, so it was 100% paired to my phone properly).

It lacks a basic stopwatch feature as well so I couldn’t even go in to a manually timed mode as a work-around. I started up the preloaded workout selections and wanted to see if it accurately measured my squats, but after I did 25 squats it had only registered 1.

then while resting and catching my breath, it registered 3 more squats. *eyeroll* The step counter seems pretty good and it does help keep me stay goal oriented because I want to get all my steps (etc) in by the end of each day, but if I were to go back and buy a smartwatch I would either go for a cheaper version, because the basic features are all I seem to find useful, or find a brand that can support another fitness OS.

I gave this 2 stars because I really like Samsung (I have the ear buds and Galaxy S10) and as mentioned I think the size and esthetic of the watch, but I legit wish I had gone for something made by Fossil (or Diesel or anyone else for that matter LOL).

At least now I will NEVER miss a text, phone call, Instagram, Facebook or any other notification we millennials need to survive.

Firstly, I wanted to buy the Galaxy watch 42mm. I have very small wrists and the size of it was monstrous. This watch actually looks great. I initially wanted the 42mm Galaxy watch but the size for my small wrists was monstrous! Trust me I wanted to buy it, but it looked like a pink hockey puck on my wrist.

The strap and fit are ultra comfortable (even for sleeping with for the sleep tracker). I bought the sea green one and it looks beautiful. The touch screen is very responsive, sharp and beautiful. It looks like the glass is sapphire glass.

It is actually gorilla glass and after 2 weeks of wear, not a ding or scratch (fingers crossed for the future. Also the variety of watch faces, which look great )are available free and also for pay), keep the watch looking new and fresh.

It connects nicely with Samsung health, which is a nice app if you are looking to get more active and start towards a healthier lifestyle. I have worn it swimming for 60 mins plus for 5 – 6 days in a row and as for the lap tracking, it is not exact.

Sometimes it errs on the side of generosity by 2 – 4 lengths in an hour. I usually just pause it and complete the extra lengths. It tracks the distance and time and heart rate in the pool and has a water lock feature that prevents the watch from flashing on and off due to accidental water touches etc.

It also tracks a generous amount of exercises. I haven’t tested the auto detect feature yet. It does a fair job of determining what type of swim stroke I use as well. You need your phone to be able to send and receive messages on it.

It has canned responses that you can change in the app as well as a sketch pad you can scrawl a short word or two. Battery life for me is very good and I can get at min. Two days use out of it if not using GPS often.

I like that it can sync with My Fitness Pal. Expect a bit of delay for the input to sync though. (maybe a couple of hours). Basically, I use this to track my steps, track my swims, flights of stairs and tell the time as well as quickly scanning any incoming messages.

It has tonnes of additional features like Spotify etc that I have not used yet. If you want a simple, gorgeous fitness tracker this is it. You can also store a small amount of music on the device and use with wireless ear buds (aprx 1.

5 GB if you don’t overload with apps) What I am not so sure about: I am not sure if the heart rate monitor is accurate, this might be important if you are looking to use heart rate to determine weight loss during a work out.

I don’t have any other devices to compare it to. I would rely on other online reviews to determine whether you want to buy this. The stair tracking and step counter only kicks in after 10 stairs/steps so although I go up my stairs at home, it doesn’t often count these.

It doesn’t bother me that much though. As far as GPS and work out tracking, if you want to go hard, get a Garmin, this is what they do and they do it well. I am sure they completely and accurately monitor heart rate, GPS, and work outs.

If you want an all around fitness tracker and smart watch that is also somewhat fashionable, this is a great start point with a good price. As far as sleep tracking goes, it triggers by motion, it cannot accurately determine your REM, deep and light sleep, only professional equipment can do this.

On occasion while sitting still for a long period of time (reading) it will log those hours as sleep, you can merely remove it in the sleep app. It does generally do well at indicating your sleep at night when it measures your active movement etc, just don’t forget to engage the night time mode to prevent blinding flashes in the night.

I love this watch so far and hope it endures daily wear and tear for at least a year or so. My first fitness tracker from Samsung (free with a phone) was garbage. There is MUCH welcome improvement with this watch.

Summary: if you want a reasonably priced smart watch/fitness tracker (no LTE or stand alone phone calls) that you can wear out in the evening without it looking like a diver’s watch, this is your watch.

If you are a serious fitness buff, go with Garmin.

It is kind of annoying that Samsung keeps trying to push Tizen on us and constantly has to be that one “non-conformist” in the group. Yeah Android Wear is bland and mediocre, but it has the trust of a lot more developers.

I really like this watch though. I bought it for the fitness aspect and looks, so in that regard it doesn’t disappoint. Pros: -It looks like a watch, and looks great as one. -Samsung’s OLED displays will never disappoint, proving to everyone why they’re number one in that business -The bezel wheel is just insanely great, best idea ever.

So much better than fiddling with a microscopic scroll wheel that breaks up the aesthetic of the device. -Good leather band, nice and smooth, none of that natural and raw look, though the underside is more raw and suede like.

Cons: -Tizen, I doubt you’ll get the saturation and support from devs since no one wants to rewrite code for a one product line company that doesn’t do a lot to push and advertise their products. -Too saturated, one of the only real downfalls to OLED, it’s too saturated so colors look radioactive at times especially if they’re brighter hues.

-Just hinging on too small. At the store on the display it looked fine, but on my wrist it seems ever so small. I’m not a tall person nor do I have big wrists. I’m a 5′ 5″ male. -It is kind of difficult to get the watch on, the strap is weirdly just short enough to barely make it through the clasp to grab it and walk it down to your wrist.

The band needed an extra 1/2in to an 1in length on the end before the holes. -There are some performance issues, the bluetooth lag is bad also I’m experiencing lag when trying to switch watch faces on the device itself, and that causes a confusing array of problems.

The Tap and Hold function is not consistent in time, so sometimes you think it’s getting hung up, and then you press it again which creates new problems and so on. I’m supposedly on the latest software according to Gear Manager.

-I wish it had sapphire glass in it instead of last-gen Gorilla Glass (at least it should have been 4, not 3) -Notifications also kind of need some work, like they don’t sync as frequently as I would like.

Suggestions: -Offer Display options (cinema, vivid, photo, adaptive) like you do on your phones and OLED tablets, since it’s overly saturated -Offer options to change the button functions from single, double, and long press, completely.

I keep accidentally hitting the top one thinking that it would act like a left-click/enter-key. -Also activate ambient light mode, there clearly seems to be a sensor for it. Otherwise what’s the mysterious sensor, just behind the display that you can sort of see under bright lights with the screen off?.

Having replaced my Galaxy Watch (2018) with this model, I can say that I’m extremely happy. I decided on this purchase primarily due to the ECG and blood pressure feature due to some ongoing health concerns.

Special thanks to Harvey Norman Launceston for enabling me to purchase this 10 days ahead of us official release when I just went in to see if it might suit my need and instead ended up walking out the door with it.

I was very concerned about battery life initially with the switch to Gear OS from Tizen but after 10 days use so far, am happy to report that I get 3 days use on average with a little left over to spare.

Not as good as the 5 days between charges on my earlier watch (when new), but pretty decent none the less considering that multiple ECG and blood pressure readings were taken throughout as well as constant heart rate monitoring.

The watch is a delight to use, integrates and functions faultlessly with my S22 Ultra and delivers clear, easily read and responded to notifications. Operation is smooth and buttery without a hint of lag or hesitation and the new style band is a nifty, secure, comfortable and easily set design.

The new watch band material (rather than that of my earlier watch) does not seem to react with my arm and leave a welt which is also a positive. The display is bright, easily read, has a great resolution and as is typical of Samsung devices in my experience; second to none.

One thing I do miss over my original watch though, is the rotating bezel. I’m afraid that the choice to move away from this is a design miss on Samsung’s part. The capacitive, digital alternative of running a finger around the periphery of the screen isn’t as remotely intuitive, functional, effective, refined or easy to use as you end up touching other elements of the screen in the process.

I’m not sure of the logic in removing what was a signature component of this series of watches, one that made usage a breeze and one that galaxy watch owners in this format of watch had come to love.

The new method on this watch is not nearly as precise and no use with gloves or wet hands. Sorry Samsung; but a significant design miss. That said, the watch is still a delight to use, as you can just swipe as you would on a phone to get to/from where you need to go.

Updating, app choices and integration are better overall than the Tizen watch was, though watch faces are a little sparse at present compared to Tizen. Overall, a fantastic piece of kit and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

The black version looks a little “cheap” to my eye for a wearable such as this and at this price point (particularly without the bezel), but that’s subjective and others will see it differently. I don’t use the running, etc features and so can’t comment on those.

But nice job Samsung (deletion of bezel excepted) If you are after a classy looking, fully functional smart watch and fitness tracker, aren’t an invested member of that fruit named company and need something to help keep track of your ticker, this watch may just be for you.

ECG reports are easily exported printed in A4, or even emailed to your doctor straight from your phone in a heart beat. ECG and Blood Pressure does require Samsung Health installed I believe (no issue if you’re a Samsung user) and the integration between the watch and phone is impressive, straight forward and completely intuitive.

Very happy with my purchase.

A little background. I’ve had smartwatches, many with LTE, since they first arrived years ago. The Galaxy Watch was my favorite go-to watch from the beginning, and I always upgraded as new models were released.

My annoyance flared when advertised capabilities were either missing or poorly implemented. In some cases, promised features never came to fruition, while other times they showed up but more than a year later.

Because of this, a few years ago I decided to move to a Fossil Watch with LTE. One of the biggest draws for me was Fossil’s integration with Google Assistant. As someone heavily invested in the Google ecosystem, this one specific feature was a game changer for me.

Even though I still like the Fossil, I decided to reverse course and give Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 5 Pro a chance. At this writing, I am now using the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro Black LTE version. This is a top-notch flagship model that offers a ton of nice features, many in the health and fitness arena, and keeping in mind that my last Galaxy Watch was a model 3.

In my opinion, this watch is aesthetically much nicer looking than previous versions of the Galaxy watch; it has a premium look and feel about it. As expected, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is also noticeably more expensive than the standard version, and by a wide margin.

A big draw for me moving to the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is its 80-hour battery. While I haven’t had this watch very long, thus far the battery has been pretty good. I gave it a full charge last night ending at 10:30pm, then kept it on my wrist throughout the night in bedtime(?) mode.

I got out of bed around 6:30am and turned bedtime mode off. Overnight, the battery had dropped from 100% to 87%. Even though it wasn’t connected to my phone during that time period, it was connected to cellular.

I used the watch throughout the day, including four 2-mile walks (which the watch considers exercise periods). I used the timer a bunch and checked the weather a good number of times. And don’t forget Google Assistant.

At about 9pm that evening, remaining battery was 49%. Now, the watch face does support a good number of Complications, so I have to imagine that that impacts battery over time. There is something about the Watch 5 Pro’s watch band that I find very comfortable.

It doesn’t pinch my wrist or grab my arm hair. And the band’s design makes it very easy to make minor size adjustments, unlike more traditional bands. On the downside, the band’s clasp which sits in the center of my wrist, started losing color immediately.

There were scratch marks all over it, so much so that the underlying material was clearly visible. Fortunately, a black sharpie came to the rescue. I am pleased to say that the thickness of the watch turned out to be a non-issue.

It doesn’t feel heavy to me, although I’m guessing that the light-weight titanium material is why. So, kudos to Samsung on a good choice of materials. Setting up the watch couldn’t have been easier – it was completed in just 40 minutes.

This was followed by setting up the LTE portion. I was initially concerned that having my Fossil LTE already configured with my cellular provider would be a problem, but it only turned out to be a minor bump.

I did have to rerun the LTE portion three times to remove the Fossil, but it eventually was removed from my phone company’s database and replaced with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Easy-peasy! Still, it hasn’t taken long to get used to sliding my fingertip around the screen’s edge ——————————————————————————————————————————- Charger: It comes with a USB Type-C magnet charging puck, but lacks an actual charger ——————————————————————————————————————————– The face of the Watch 5 Pro is lower than the bezel by a fraction of an inch, differing from other watches where the watch’s face is flush to the top of the bezel.

This recessed placement is pretty shrewd. With as many times as I’ve accidently scratched/banged my watch going through a doorway, being recessed should protect the watch face from, well, me. In the beginning of this review, I alluded to how important Google Assistant is to me.

I figured with Samsung and Google’s close relationship that Google Assistant integration was a given. Well, I couldn’t get G. A to work. Plus, one of my favorite features from the Galaxy Watch 3 was its SOS ability.

That too didn’t seem to work. I was very unhappy. Yet, someone at Google or Samsung must have heard my grumbling and decided to sprinkle pixie-dust on the watch while I slept. Because in trying them again the next morning, both worked perfectly.

Full disclosure on the SOS feature: to activate SOS to send out an alert message, it is necessary to press the home button super quick, like 3 or 4 times within a second. I admit part of the reason I couldn’t get it to activate earlier was because I was slow pressing the home button.

With all the smartwatches I’ve used over the years, this is my all-time favorite. The screen is bright and very readable, and the watch is easy to set up and thus far to maintain. It handshakes transparently with my Samsung Fold 3 smartphone, and the Wear app sitting on the phone is well thought out.

Hmm, I wonder if it supports the Audible app!.

Other smart watches have detrimentally allowed users to find utility in their products; however, it seems like Samsung taken an opposing stance. The watch achieves Samsung’s vision by simply ignoring your every command.

I love that this watch keeps me guessing. Will button ‘A’ bring up the menu to pause or end a workout when needed? Will the heart rate monitor work continuously or just arbitrarily stop and start again during a workout? Will the batter die after a single day (with all functions working as designed) or after a few days (of paperweight level excellence)? I personally like to use the hear rate monitor with the continuous measurement mode.

The watch helps me decide if I need this data by arbitrarily disabling the measurements during my workouts. It really helps me stay uninformed when I go for a run. Don’t worry about the data this watch records, Samsung has that handled.

The PDF and HTML formats give an exceptional, high level overview of whatever you want to see. They do this by turning the (potentially) thousands of data points collected each hour into one informative candlestick chart per day.

I think it is great that they didn’t just allow easy access to the data or the ability to meaningfully customize their visualizations. It really helps prevent me from drawing any useful conclusions from the data the device collects.

When I use this watch I am always so motivated. It is great at keeping you revved up and ready to take a long walk off a short cliff. When you wear this watch it seems as though it isn’t even there. Not because it is light weight, because at best, it contributes nothing.

I’m so elated that I got this watch on launch, It is absolutely worth one single penny. I couldn’t imagine anything I have ever owned that was better suited to being used as a ~$500USD paperweight.

After using my active 2 for almost 2 years, it is the only watch (smart or otherwise) that I have worn consistently. I opted for the larger size purely to read the screen size easier; however, the small size would have fit my small wrist just fine.

I love how easy it is to swap out the bands on the watch. I’ve purchased a handful of bands from Amazon just to accessorize my outfits and mood. The band that comes with the watch originally is so easy to clean and maintain.

Personally, I never tested the watch’s underwater ability, but I never had any issues when I would get it wet. For me though it is habit to take it off whenever I shower. I do not have an LTE plan on just my watch, so using smart pay via my watch does require that I have my phone on/near me.

As a person with health issues, I love the sleep monitor and heart rate monitor functions. Those are my most used apps on the watch. I docked a star because the ECG ability has stopped working for me.

It no longer properly recognizes my finger on the button. That is disappointing since that was a factor in purchasing the watch. Also, I added and then removed the period cycle app on the watch because on the watch it would glitch, but in the Samsung health app on my phone it works just fine.

Overall, I highly recommend for any Samsung phone owner looking to have a smart watch. I influenced my husband to get one for himself, and now either of us can’t imagine not having a Samsung smart watch.

Disclaimer – I think this was an open box purchase, but it came with it’s original box and band ,with zero tarnishes or any immediately noticable problems. This was not my first smart watch. I had used Fitbit and Garmin.

something I really appreciated about my Fitbit was that not only did it read my pulse and sleep, but also my Spo2, which I follow closely because of medical reasons. I was rather disappointed to learn that the ability to detect Spo2 was not available.

Another problem I encountered was nearly constant disconnecting from Bluetooth and Wireless. I had set notifications to inform me whenever this happened, and it was so frequent that I turned notifications off in annoyance.

Updates would either resolve the issue, but then bring it back later, or just make it worse in general. Next would be battery life. When I first began using this watch, it could last two days before needing to charge.

But after about six months of use, it began to require more frequent charges. Mind, I didn’t use any excessive watch faces , and didn’t add music onto the device. Storage and Ram were mostly free. But after almost a year, this watch will lost almost 60% battery life from full after maybe 90 minutes.

This renders the watch unusable for me. This became exceptionally worse after each watch update. Resetting the device multiple times did nothing. I am convinced that Samsung has no idea what they’re doing in regards to updates.

They’re far and few between, and they seem to cause more problems than they fix. I still wanted to have a Smartwatch, as the convenience is necessary for my busy life. So hopefully most of these issues will be resolved with the Galaxy Watch 4, which does come with SP02 reader!.

I’ve always been a fan of the samsung line of watches. Not being biased to other watches, since i’ve used and still own quite a few other brand smart watches. This item was purchased for my girl as a replacement to an aging TicWatch.

She needed something that would hold up against spills, dirt and other bodily *stuff* that would maybe hit it in the process of her job. With her being an ER nurse, she very frquently comes into contact with very gross situations that would be very difficult to clean from ordinary watches or even smartches with external moving or rotating faces or knobs.

That being said, it’s worked wonderfully against all situations she’s ran into. The features have come in very handy for her job. From little things that we normally take for granted or on a regular basis we don’t ever use, she’s found them to make her job very easy.

The sleep monitor has been a very solid staple with her since it’s helped her find some issues with her sleep habits. The heart-rate monitor has come in very handy with her workouts and day-to-day activities.

She’s honestly used more features and options on that watch than I ever have. The clean aesthetic look of the watch makes it a joy for any outfit or srubs combination she chooses. It’s not bulky or uncomfortable.

The options for bands is great, because she tends to go through a few of them. Overall a great option for a smart watch.

As a smartwatch, this is an outstanding choice. The watch is well made, it has a lot of useful features and settings. As a activity tracker, quite frankly is sucks. Here are the features I like: built-in microphone so you can answer a phone call, speech-to-text text message replies, music controls and alarms.

Now for what I don’t like. I used before this and I feel like it was far more accurate in tracking sleep and activity. The Active 2 tracks my sleep properly about half the time. Some days it says it couldn’t get a good reading even though I wear it close to the skin as I should.

If it does track, I don’t always feel like it’s accurate. Sometimes when I’m doing nothing out of the ordinary it goes into workout mode. And then finally, the battery life. With a FitBit I got spoiled on charging it every other day or every 2 days.

Because of the features of this watch, it has to be charged everyday. It does have a helpful battery saver mode but that takes away 99% of the features you’re going to buy it for. No voice texting or replying of any kind and no use of the apps or watch faces.

I bought this used at a deep discount. I’m very thankful I didn’t buy this new because it’s not really worth the price tag to me.

i bought the smasung 2 golf watch this time last year and have used it over the season. i play 50+rounds a year and typically use the grint. everytime i have used the watch and app, the yardage are off.

sometimes by 5 yards and others by 15 or more. we used a range finder, course markers, other gps watches, grint, and much more to determine that it is consistently off. this has actually led to flying or coming up short multiple times.

the layout and functions are nice when they work. the green reading heat map doesn’t always load or takes forever. with the delays and lack of yardage information, the app and watch arr useless for golf.

if someone from the team can reach out and provide a resolution, i would appreciate it so i can use my watch again.

Overall, a fantastic, user friendly, versatile and convenient accessory for all types. It has an easy to use bezel that rotates your choices quickly and easily, making selecting options very simple. It has a large bright face with east to see and use icons.

The smartphone app on android phones links your watch to your phone making it even more versatile and convenient. I have become reliant on my Galaxy Watch as it is now a part of my daily life, as much as having my phone with me at all times.

I would recommend this watch to anyone, it’s a great watch at a great price. Enjoy!.

I have had my watch now about 6 months. I love how it challenges me health wise. I’ve lost several pounds. I really love it helps track so many things even the REM sleep. My job does not allow us to use our phone during work hours this helps me track important messages and phone calls just in case something important does happen!!My old watch did not do that.

The battery life is awesome as well as all the extra accessories you can buy to really bling it out even more!! I only buy Samsung products I have NEVER owned Apple products nor do I have the desire to.

Samsung’s quality and technology is outstanding there is no other thing I even want!! Thank you for supplying all my needs for years now starting with an S5.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (44mm) in silver. Overall, I like the watch. I like sending and receiving texts on my watch (I can respond to Signal messages but cannot initiate them from the watch).

The sleep monitoring is helpful and seems accurate. I also like the detection of physical activity, like when I’m walking or running. The battery life is ok. Two days is a big stretch, so I usually just charge it every day (a bit of a pain since I want to sleep with it on, so I need to remember to charge it before bed).

One small complaint is that the watch has no left hand setting. So I wear it on my right wrist, like most left-handed people do, but the buttons are in the wrong side. So I’m constantly reaching over the watch face to tap a button.

Annoying and unnecessary because the watch is physically symmetric (top to bottom) and the watch face rotates while charging but not while wearing it. So the software and hardware could handle it, if it were made by a company that cared about its customers.

The bigger complaint I have is accessories. If you don’t love the stock silicon watch band, you are out of luck. I started looking for a metal band as soon as it was released. A Milanese band was advertised on their site for months as “coming soon.

” I signed up to receive a notification of its availability but none ever came. By accident, I saw it available in early December and ordered it (silver, 44mm). They sent me the wrong size (40mm) which I returned.

They sent me the wrong size (40mm) again, which I returned again. The third order has been placed since mid-December with no end in sight. Customer service is apologetic and confident it’ll be sent soon.

I receive periodic emails about my order, saying it’s delayed and will ship in the next three weeks. Customer service is confident it’ll arrive by that date. I’ve played this game since mid-December and it’s wearing thin.

No one knows where the watchband is but everyone knows it’ll be sent soon. Last few times I checked, the wireless charging trio platform is MIA too. Good luck getting accessories for this watch; they don’t seem to exist and Samsung doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to make them available.

After upgrading from a Galaxy S7 to the Moto Z Force I was sad to find that my old Samsung Gear Watch would not pair with my new phone. I looked long and hard for a suitable replacement because I became very accustomed to my wearable technology watch.

After multiple attempts to download apps and pair my old watch with my new phone I was rightfully concerned that the new Samsung Gear S3 Frontier would be very timeconsuming and tedious to pair with a Moto Z, but I was completely mistaken.

Once the watch was powered up it prompted me to download the appropriate Samsung Gear app, enter my email address and a memorable password and after a few short very simple to follow steps the watch and my new phone are paired and theyre working perfectly.

I am extremely pleased with the fit and finish of my new S3 Frontier and how simple it was to mate it to a non Samsung phone. I had watched several YouTube videos of how to pair previous model Samsung SmartWatches to non Samsung or Galaxy phones and had anticipated a number of downloading and application steps two make the two communicate with each other but as I said before it was completely unnecessary and extremely simple.

The watch is fairly expensive but well worth the money if you have become accustomed two wearable technology to stay uptodate with whats going on with your phone. I look forward to getting more accustomed to using it and I know it will be a very enjoyable experience.

The one sacrifice of not having a camera on the watch as I did with the previous one is a feature that I will miss but it is by no means a dealbreaker as I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I highly recommend this watch for anyone having a non Samsung phone as an alternative to purchasing one made by Motorola if you purchased a Moto Z as I did.

It Is by no means a watch to wear well swimming or diving and maybe one day manufacturers will step up and make something that is truly waterresistant enough for that kind of use but the water and dust repellency is more than adequate for daily life and besides I have plenty of other watches for scuba diving and swimming so there again definitely no dealbreaker and this will be my watch a choice for daily wear and all outdoor activities.

At almost three bones it is a very pricey investment but as I said before if you are a fan of wearable technology Im sure you will enjoy it as much as Im sure I will.

I’ve used Samsung devices for 20 years. The Gear 3 Frontier watch has been an excellent watch for me for 3+ years but all of the sudden, after recent updates, it’s charge only lasted hours instead of days.

I like how many watch faces were available. How quickly it responded. How it helped me keep track of my blood sugar (with a lot of help from other apps) and helped control my music. Well maybe it was time to update.

I bought a Galaxy 4 watch. I’ve had it 4 working days. The charge will last almost 2 days. It only has a handful of useful faces that are stylish. Getting new faces through the play store really is tedious.

One face I liked needs 3 other apps to work as shown and the creator of the face wants donations. I’m not happy about the new direction Samsung went. It is not as user friendly as the Gears were. If I knew why the recent updates discharged the watch so quickly and it could be fixed I’d go back to wearing my Frontier.

All that being said the Galaxy 4, 40mm is lighter and has some neat features but it’s not as nimble as the 3 was. Also it’s not completely compatible with my year and a half old Note 20 Ultra. A phone more expensive then my last 3 computers.

Here’s hoping Samsung figures out how to be as good as they were a couple years ago.

I wanted to like this watch (especially since Samsung’s promotions department did such a good job of harassing me to upgrade!!) I ordered the UNLOCKED LTE version a month before it came out on pre-order.

Once i received the watch however, my carrier (T-mobile) at the time could not activate the watch. They kept getting a message that the watch was not compatible with their network. I returned that watch and waited almost 4 weeks for the replacement.

The replacement watch did the same thing. I switched to Verizon, who was able to activate the watch. However, the UNLOCKED LTE version gets NO notifications or alerts to it. No calls, no texts, no important stuff.

(it does tell me the weather 5 minutes though). ive gone through every conceivable tech support from T-mobile, Samsung, AND Verizon and NONE of them can figure out why this watch isnt getting notifications.

It also apparently is marked as an LTE watch but did doesn’t function alone outside of the phone (even with the phone powered off) UNLESS you call or text the number SPECIFICALLY attached to the watch line (and still no notifications).

I humored myself and did a google search of the issue and apparently this is a major issue with this watch. COMPLETE waste of money and time! It’s basically an expensive, pretty BRICK!! I should have kept my Galaxy Watch 3.

maybe they’ll do better with the 5, but this 4 is trash!.

I pre-ordered the S22 Ultra phone and used the credit that came with it to purchase this as an upgrade from my Watch 3. It’s only been a couple of days, but so far I’m not impressed. My main complaint is battery life so far.

I charged this fully when I got it and by the next morning after taking my morning walk, the battery was down to about 30%, where the old watch would never get below 45% after wearing it all day the day before and taking the same length walk.

Time will tell if it’s just a matter of the watch learning to optimize battery life, but if this continues I will not be happy. Otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be any significant difference. Some of the apps look better, but for the most part they are about the same.

I preferred the weather and calendar apps on the Watch 3 to what came with the 4. I do like the swipe up to access all apps rather than having an all app widget, but otherwise the changes are extremely minor.

Performance was never an issue on my last watch, so I don’t notice any difference here. I don’t really use it for much other than text notifications, call alerts, weather, calendar, and fitness features and their response doesn’t seem any different to me.

One big difference is how it integrates with the phone app. Many more features seem tied directly to the phone rather than being as useful on a standalone basis. So far that’s an inconvenience. Overall, I’m questioning whether it was worth making this “upgrade.

After owning this watch for 3 months, this watch has been able to supplement my life’s activities in some way. The main reason I bought it for the purpose of being able to track my exercise and to be used as a golf watch for pin distance.

Upon pairing with my Samsung S9+, all notifications such as text and WhatApp messages, calendar events and call were all actionable from the watch, and mitigated me having to pull out my phone to check these notification.

Things such as email to my gmail account and other application notifications were not available, however as these aren’t really urgent it didn’t really impact me. It has support for many third party applications and native Samsung applications; my Golfshot application allowed for me to check the pin distance from my phone, my F45 workouts were tracked in the Samsung Health with my heart rate and calorie counts for the session available to be viewed on both my watch and my phone, plus the ability (after a bit of fiddling) being able to control my phone’s Spotify whilst connected to my bluetooth headphones (the watch also uses bluetooth).

There’s so many apps you can use such as a compass, stopwatch, Google maps and Samsung Pay, The Samsung Health integration has a wealth of functions, even being able to measure body composition by sending electrodes around your body, providing data on BMI, water mass, bone density.

It also has a sleep monitor which will track your sleeping patterns if you wear the watch while you sleep, I haven’t tried it for the reason below. My only complaint is the battery life. Depending on usage, you’ll find yourself having to charge your watch at weird intervals if you choose to wear it to bed every night.

Given the functions of the watch somewhat demand it to be worn for 24 hours, you’ll just have to pick and choose when you want to go without, which means placing it on a USB charger the size of a 20 cent piece.

Overall it’s a great life assistant. It looks smart, you can choose for virtually an unlimited number of watch faces, there’s an app for everything you want and you can set it up to help you with anything you wish.

I received the Bluetooth version of this watch, and have been using it for a few weeks. There is also a 4G version of it. The watch comes nicely presented in a white box, and includes a proprietary magnetic USB charging pad, so you’ll need a charging block to plug this into in order to charge the watch.

Charging takes 90 minutes with my charger, and a full charge lasts ~2 days (though I’ve not used it for intensive fitness tracking). Battery life is the only downside of this watch for me, though this may be normal for smart watches.

I’ve been using this watch with a Samsung Galaxy S10 – It is not compatible with iPhone. There are certain features that only work with Samsung phones – such as full health tracking (heart rate monitor, blood oxygen level, sleep quality, stress, and body composition).

Unless you’re really into monitoring your fitness, this is unlikely to be an issue – I find basic fitness tracking (steps etc) is perfect for my needs. The watch is comfortable to wear, though I find the rubber strap can get a little bit sweaty (which may be partly due to the UK 2022 Jul/Aug heatwave).

This may not be an issue if you are a regular smart watch wearer already. Before starting the watch for the first time, I’d recommend installing Samsung’s ‘Galaxy Wearable’ app and ensuring that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

On starting the watch, it walks you though the Bluetooth pairing process, and then gives a brief interactive demo of how to use the watch (Mostly swiping left/right/up/down to access different feature areas, and is definitely worth paying attention to).

The app allows you to configure your watch – lots of different faces etc. , as well as specifying the apps you wish to use. Other than phone and Messages, I regularly use Spotify and Samsung Pay (as it’s more convenient than using the phone).

I find this watch a very user-friendly piece of tech. If you’re happy to charge it every day or two, I’d definitely recommend it.

As noted in other reviews, a significant downgrade IMO from the Galaxy Watch 3. I agree with all the other reviewers on the most important points. Horrible battery life (46mm Classic) – someone said you can literally see the battery drain, and I agree.

You’ll be lucky to get through a day. If you want to monitor your sleep cycle with this, you’ll need to charge it a couple of hours sometime before you go to bed, and then again when you wake up. Best get a couple of chargers, for charging at work and at home.

I can only imagine the battery life in the 40mm. Very poorly organized interface as well, beginning with the mish-mash of apps you need to scroll through to get anywhere. And speaking of apps, very sparse selection – Samsung may think they’ve partnered with Google, but it’s abundantly apparent that Google does not agree.

And literally NOTHING is explained about how to do anything setting up this watch – coupled with the fact that nothing will import from any other Samsung watch you have. You’ll need to set up Samsung Pay all over again, you will have no watch faces (other than the elsewhere mentioned bloated list of included “cute” faces that are un-deletable, that only a 14 year old girl would wear), and downloading other watch faces (if you can find any) involves an arcane, multi-step process of paying vendors “croissants” and “wine,” and many of the faces linked through Samsung’s own Wearable app are incompatible.

The Google Play store has literally thousands of apps – only a few of which are compatible with this watch – and you will have only very basic apps, most of which duplicate what’s already (minimally) installed.

I could continue, but having spent the better part of a day trying to get this hot mess of hardware and software working, I’m frankly too tired. Rant off, there are some improvements in the health measurement components, and it may or may not be marginally faster (if it is, it’s barely detectable, but benefit of a doubt).

It’s also lighter than my Titanium 3. So I’ll be keeping it and hoping for some huge updates, but this effort is almost an embarrassment to call an “improvement. ” It does tell time, so there’s that.

The Watch5 isn’t much different from Watch4, so there’s little incentive to upgrade if you are happy with the previous watch. Only substantial upgrade, if it can be called that, is the Sapphire glass on the watch face and incremental increase in battery capacity.

The rest is the same. One problem I have with the Watch5 is the sensor ‘mound’ that protrudes from the back. It is raised but there is a seam where it meets the watch body and all manners of sweat and skin debris collect in it, making it gross and hard to clean.

Another issue is that the heart rate monitor on mine is at least bugged or at most straight up broken. The 10 minute interval monitor refuses to work if any other function involving the sensor is engaged.

The watch has to be reset in order to restore function. There has been a similar problem with the Watch4, and makes a return to Watch5. Overall, I do not recommend this piece of half baked technology and money grab to be on anyone’s wrist.

You are just paying to be an unwitting tester and have to wait and wait until update that may or may not fix the issue is released. By then Watch6 will be ‘coming soon’ and lure another group of suckers like me.

Samsung and Google have a lot of work to do. I expect better of a $600 smartwatch. You don’t have standalone navigation on Google maps on the Samsung Galaxy watch. It’s an LTE enabled watch, kind of defeats the purpose of getting a cellular watch if standalone navigation does not work.

Additionally, the running app needs to be better so that we can set targets like calories or time and it should have haptic feedback. If we are outside our target heart rate zone or target pace. Additionally, like Garmin watches, they should automatically detect exercise is strength training exercises like squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses and automatically count the rep and put it in a nice graph format.

Also the GPX track importation is really problematic. It doesn’t work with running only with hiking and biking. And if any trail has a loop, the app shows the hike of the bike ride completed even before it started.

You have a lot of work to do to refine a $600 $700 product.

Purchased a galaxy watch 4 classic on the weekend. My 1st impression was very good, was a nice fit and navigating around the UI felt very smooth and responsive. I’ve had a few problems already with Samsung though that are making me think about returning the products I use.

As a truck drive putting in 7-9 hours driving a day I wanted to accurately keep track of my health and my steps. Was very disappointed to see my watch clocking up around 1000 steps an hour while driving.

This completely defeats the point of the health app for my self and doesn’t seem very smart watch to me at all. I’ve seen very basic and cheep pedometers be smart enough to realise when your driving.

At the very least have a setting to put it into driving mode and stop step counting. On top of that I’ve also had to factory reset my watch twice now as scrolling through the tiles they would just disappear and the screen would go black for no reason.

The final straw for me was the awful experience I’ve had trying to get my s21 repaired by Samsung for a screen repair with it nearly being a month without my device being returned and costing me £280 odd pounds.

Overall feeling very let down by Samsung.

I don’t buy refurbished that often as when I do I’ll sometimes receive products that are filthy, clearly scratched, and may not be in the best condition/working order. This purchase however was 110% worth the buy! Not only did I get an insane deal on the Galaxy Watch 3 (whose MSRP is $100s of dollars more), but the item is practically brand new.

I observed not a single scuff nor scratch, and aside from the original box missing, all the required items were present and brand new. I recommend this seller to anyone and this is a great watch if you’re on the fence about a Smartwatch.

Only thing I don’t love is the battery life but make a couple adjustments to your settings and it will last you a day or slightly more. You may have to lower brightness, turn on power saving, etc but it will last with some tweaks.

Usually, I use my watch mostly to control my music, read/type texts, make/receive calls, track my steps, occasionally search the internet, and check time of course. If you’re bored, you can even play a few games on it.

My favorites are probably Pin Rotary and Tetris-style games. I’m just waiting now for someone to make a Pac-man game that utilizes the rotating bezel. Also in the picture I attached, I have a protective case over my watch face; essentially the watch is verycustomizable and within a few days I will be doing a strap change and new watch face cover change.

This is my 4th smart watch I have owned and things are starting to finally mature. One of the first things I want to say is the battery life on this watch is far far superior to any other watch I have used which was one of my biggest problems when using a smart watch its hard to get through one evening.

That is not the case with this watch, you can actually go multiple days with normal use without the battery dying, a major improvement Samsung has a very talented and creative design team. The ideas they create are some of the best in the world.

Stop putting RD into something we dont need. Why not just use what is already in place No separate app downloads. While you do have to enter a pin once until you take the watch off again its super annoying.

Its my watch, let me decide what I want my security settings to be. If you disable a pin, it wipes pay. Yes its a great smart watch but running Tizen just makes it a proprietary thing to Samsung which I dont like proprietary things.

The overlapping app downloads on the Samsung store is just a yucky experience. Its a great watch, great battery life, great design, the speaker sounds great and the rotating ring is great so if you are ok with Tizen and have a Galaxy phone already absolutely you should buy this, its a great watch.

Even know this watch blows my other smart watches out of the water for battery life, I dislike very much that everything must go through the Samsung app store vs the regular one meaning everything made for wear platform is not going to work.

I have recently had the pleasure to test drive the new Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. This review is being done by someone who has never owned a smartwatch, so I may not get into a lot of the internals as I think at least some of us who buy this are just going to buy it because its really cool and not because we have any understanding as to whats under the hood.

First off the packaging is very nice as you would expect from any high end device you may purchase. The bottom half even becomes a charging base stand if you have a lot of room where you want to charge your S3.

The Gear S3 comes with a charging base, cable and block to plug it all in. It also comes with two different sized bands. The Large comes preinstalled and there is also a Small provided. The bands are very easy to change thanks to the Quick Release.

This is a little nub that is in a recess of the band and you just push it over with a fingernail. I have pretty small wrists and am female. My wrists measure 6. 5 inches. While large, the Gear S3 does not actually seem as big once you are wearing it.

I do highly recommend buying a new band. For my wrist size I found the one provided to be too stiff and made the S3 a lot more uncomfortable than it is now. The provided band is Silicone and is easy to clean, but I found the black metal mesh one I bought to fit me better.

Thanks to the Gear S3s water rating you are supposed to be able to really put this sucker to the test White water rafting anyone I have yet to try any water tests but I would be willing to wear the Gear S3 to the beach The Samsung Gear S3 is rated to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes so I guess Swimming is out but you could leave it on in the shower Just make sure the band and your wrist is dried off after because you can cause some real funk to your wrist if water is trapped under the band Washing the S3 is simple with a little water and some non sudsing soap.

WATCH FACES There are hundreds of free watch faces to choose from I absolutely love the live saltwater aquarium I shut off the Always On watch face to save battery. I also disabled Quick View this turns on the screen when you lift your arm or turn your wrist as if you want to check the time.

All I have to do is tap a button or turn the bezel and I can see my fishes swim Oh and I guess see the time, date, day of the week, BPM and steps. You did read right earlier, I did say GAMES So far I have only played fruit ninja but wow, not having to take out my phone like everyone else at the doctors office made me feel specialI have no other way to measure my heart rate but the average that the Gear S3 seems to record sounds about right from what I know of myself.

I used to have a fitbit HR and it seems on track with that. If you are really concerned with tracking accurate heart rate though you should buy one that has a strap. I do currently own other Fitbits and there really seems to be a discrepancy between their data and what the Gear S3 records.

The Gear 3 recording about 500 less steps a day. The floor counting is kind of a joke and takes forever to sync. I had climbed 6 flights of stairs and sat down for at least 5 minutes before my watch buzzed and congratulated me on climbing one flight.

Then the Gear S3 only recorded me doing 2 flights of stairs. So if you are looking for a device to accurately track your fitness this is not for you. It will keep you motivated by constantly telling you you have been sitting too long though I watched a movie at the theater with my son yesterday, our theater has an app that rewards you and silences your phone during the movie.

My Gear S3 however did not get this memo because towards the end of the movie it buzzed, lit up and told me I had been sitting too long Yikes I downloaded the theater widget for future useThe widgets are quite useful.

I have Weather, Calculator, Samsung Pay. I can even turn the screen into a flashlightSamsung Pay works independent of your phone, I believe this is because you do not have to have a Samsung phone to use the Samsung Gear S3.

You can even use an Apple phone This means even if you have Samsung pay on your phone you are going to have to readd all of your cards to the watch. Once you do this it will add a pin you pick out to lock your watch anytime it loses contact with your skin Kinda neat but also a pain especially if you like to wear your watch loose.

I did try last night to use Samsung Pay for the first time and got an error. I have never used it before so may have been my fault I had no idea how long I had to keep my wrist next to the car reader.

Answering calls is a breeze I dont even think my callers know they are talking to me through a watch You can add individual contacts to the Bezel rotation or grab the multi contact widget so you dont use as many spots.

I have my husbands cell separate because he is the one I use most. I wear my watch on my right hand, which makes using Samsung Pay easier, but texting is a lot slower when you are using your off hand I use the feature where you draw the letter with your finger.

It will not correct if you use a mixture of upper and lower case in a word however. So I had to actually think to make SUrE it DIDnT CoMe OUt LiKe ThiS Get to fixing that Samsung Lol. The Samsung Gear S3 is also capable of tracking your sleep.

This worked pretty good when I took a nap on the couch but sleeping at night is a whole other thing I really dont know how well it would track actual sleep, I have to take it off. Even with the always display off, and quick view off, the screen lights up all the time Every time you move and accidentally touch the bezel you will be bombarded with light This may not happen with some of the darker watch faces but with my aquarium it is quite distracting at night and will wake you up.

I would love a night lock, but until then I use night to just set the Gear S3 on the charger, which is not necessary because after a day of use the Samsung Gear S3 is still at 80 BatteryOverall I am extremely pleased with the Samsung Gear S3 and I am sure there are many things I have yet to discover I would also be interested in trying to make my own watch face someday to share with others.

Getting this watch at first made me nervous. I became paranoid trying to cover it with my hand everytime I got into a situation I think it would scratch or bang into something. As a volunteer firefighter, I would always take off my watch before responding to an incedent.

But one day as I responded to a call, I forgot to take it off. A house caught fire and our crew went in to save a few animals. We had to shove and throw furniture to reach our destination which was on the second floor.

We reached the animal room and smashed the window to let the heat escape and eventually the fire was put out. Anyway, we returned to to the fire house and I took my gear off. I noticed my watch on my wrist and freaked out.

But as I saw that it was completely intact with no scratches or smoke stains, I became less protective about it. This watch is not only water proof but heat proof. Best purchase ever!.

Absolutely terrible after 6+ months of use. In the beginning it was okay tracking workouts, but after 4 months or so the Under Armour APP is the worst part of this watch, and it is the main reason I got it.

I’ve been using mapmyfitness for 11 years to keep track of all of my workouts and I got this watch specifically for this purpose. I’ve been through the whole deal with support and they have no answer for me.

The best they could do is tell me to uninstall it from the watch. WHEN I CAN’T because it’s native to the watch (greyed out, no option to uninstall). Whenever I try to use the workout (MMF-UA) app, it stalls at least 10 times before it miiiiiight load all the way.

It keeps loading, whenever I get to a page I want to use, the screen turns off, and I have to start from scratch, somewhere between 10 and 50 times. This happens for up to a half hour when I give up or it starts working.

Then when it starts, there is a definite delay in everything that happens, then EEEEEVEN if you finally get the app to START and record your run, for the last month it will tell me it recorded it, give me stats, let me hit the check mark to save the workout, and after it’s all done, apparently the last months worth of workouts were NEVER RECORDED ON THE WEBSITE/APP.

SO FRUSTRATING. I’m so done with this watch. It is so slow overall that I just can’t take it anymore. It works decently well for most other things that it is supposed to, but for someone who bought a workout watch specifically for a specific workout app that comes pre-installed on the watch because he workouts out every day.

Purchased in March 2020 – worked perfectly for the first year or so. Did everything I wanted a smartwatch to do, except take an ECG like the Apple Watch. Rumor on the Internet at the time was that Samsung was within months of getting it approved (hardware was already in the watch) – but that never happened.

The 2-star rating is due to an issue with phantom touches on the face of the watch. Simply, the watch goes nuts randomly (and often) and switches screens, changes settings, and generally become inoperable.

The side buttons usually get it back to the home screen, but not always. I have conducted a decent amount of research on the Internet and there are many forums (especially the Samsung forum) where others complain of the exact same issue.

Many of those users, however, state their watch starts that issue after only a month or two — mine went the first year and a few months. Many of those users have also filed official warranty complaints with Samsung, only to be denied, with Samsung inexplicably claiming it was the user’s fault.

In one instance, Samsung denied the claim and stated the user must have gone swimming with the watch, as there was water damage. The watch, however, is advertised by Samsung to be “swim-proof. ” Since I am past the 1 year warranty, I am out of luck anyway and will be purchasing a different brand smartwatch.
