I got this water bottle cage for my son, whose top load aluminum cage would get distorted because his small mountain bike frame didn’t have quite enough space to get a standard 20-oz bottle in and out.
This cage does its job, but it might be a little too sturdy. The plastic is thick and clamps onto the water bottle tightly so that it is difficult for him to get his water bottle in and out. I found a different side load cage that, while it doesn’t clamp as tightly, has not dropped a bottle on the trail yet.
Bought these for bikepacking so I can access my water bottles with a top tube bag installed. One cage is left-handed and the other is right-handed, so when installed they’re accessible from the same side.
Which side do you prefer? Left or right? This duo can do both. It’s like magic!.
Well, hopefully this is the goofiest employee review I’ll ever write. We were running a little low on cages, and I saw this one came in purple, and honestly kind of impulse bought it. Lo and behold, I did not think the situation through at all.
I got it on my bike yesterday and went to see if I could grab my bottle while riding, so I could report back on the quality and ease of use. Unfortunately, all I can report is that I ride left handed, and I bought myself a left-entry bottle cage ? so that’s pretty much a complete bust.
I leaned down and ended up with a handful of bottle cage and no bottle. It did keep a solid hold on the bottle, though! Seemed like it would be pretty easy to operate if you get the correct entry side; the plastic has a nice little bit of flex to it.
It also fits super nicely on my tiny XS frame. Just double check which is your dominant hand before ordering.
Side-entry bottle cages don’t need to be hard to use. This high-end cage is designed to accommodate small and full suspension frames where standard cages do not fit. Oct 2021 update. So one of the two cages snapped as I was putting the bottle back in, bummer since it was at the start of the ride BUT Called Blackburn and found out it has a LIFETIME WARRANTY. They had a matching one in stock and shipped it to me within a week, no charge! A bit pricey but the only bottle cage that did what I needed it to do, and did it well.
A bit of a small front triangle on my frame made (almost) impossible to find a way to mount two bottle cages with 24oz bottles and my TopTube Bag. These can mount really low on the frame and are thin enough to get close together.
They are also the only side pull cage I’ve tried that allows you to put the bottles in directly from the side and pivot up into place.
Bottle is a tight fit but that also ensures your bottle won’t fall out. Side entry is great for modern mtb. The standout features are the long mounting slots which allow you to mount the cage as low or high as you like on your downtube.
Given the tight confines of my Offering’s front triangle, it was difficult to get a bottle out of and into a standard cage. The Blackburn Clutch, though, is a true side-loader, and it holds a bottle very snugly.
Despite the firm grasp, because of the well thought out asymmetrical design, it also loads and releases very readily. I couldn’t be more pleased with this product.

This is little bit tighter than my Serfas side loader cage, So it can be difficult to get the bottle in and out. But it definitely does the job and it’s lightweight and a good value. Would buy again.
The ENVE Bottle Cage gets the full treatment from the folks at ENVE Composites. They ride in all weather, and they know how important it is to have your hydration stay in place and only come out when you want it to.
They also don’t want it to slow you down, so it’s super svelte at 19g They designed the cage to be simple, durable, and good looking. The back part is wide to better cradle the bottle. The clip itself is also wide and comes up from below.
It holds the bottle firmly, and the wide, flat, arms add surface area, and friction, to further hold the bottle where you want it. The ENVE Bottle Cage comes with stainless steel mounting bolts.
Like all carbon cages these are very light, hold bottles securely for road riding. Easy to get the bottles in and out without looking down. Overpriced? Yes, but I was building a special bike and wanted the last finishing details to look good, these are subtle, you have to look very close to know they are Enve.
Used it for at least 300 miles. Holds bottles well on the worst gravel terrain. Slides in from top or sides easily. Lightweight. Matte black. Elegant. No crazy design. Beautiful. Have 2 of these on my bike.
I love ENVE products so I thought I would try their bottle cage for my new bike build instead of the Arundel Mandibles I have used in the past. Sadly this was an expensive mistake, as the ENVE cage doesn’t hold my podium bottles tightly enough and the bottle bounces and rattles around – not what I would expect for a premium product! Just stick with the Mandible, it’s the best.
The Wayside Cage allows you to choose which side you want to access your bottle from. Fancy suspension and lower standover height have put water bottle cage real estate at a premium, but the Wayside Cage buys some space back! This unique cage design allows you accommodate either right or left access by simply flipping the cage around on its mount.
I have gone through many cages on my gravel bike, which requires side entry to fit 1. 0 litre bottles. These heavy bottles tend to get thrown when going hard on rough terrain. The Blackburn Wayside holds them tighter than any others I have tried including some famous, expensive carbon options, and they only weigh 40gm.
Not the sleekest of designs but I usually go for utilitarian over design. However, I was a sucker for the orange color. Matched my bike well. I wouldn’t call this a true side entry cage, but it is easier to put in at an angle than traditional cage and holds the water bottle tight!.
The Arundel Sideloader bottle cage is the answer to modern compact frames as well as the newest trend of all-black-everything. The cage allows you to insert your bottle from the side so that it’s easier on smaller frames or full-suspension designs.
It also works great on the underside of the down tube on mountain bikes, retaining the bottle over the chundgnar without ease. It weighs the same as the Dave-O Cage (30 grams) and uses the same exquisite craftsmanship.
The difference between the Sideloader and OtherSideloader is that the former has it’s opening on the left, so you retrieve the bottle with your right hand with the OtherSideloader being, well, the “other”side.
The trough has been lengthened to allow extra mounting holes for precise placement on the bike. Used on the downtube, the Sideloader is left-side access, and used on the seattube, it’s a right side access cage.
It just works. Quite a bit better than the other side loading cages I had been using. No fumbling around and forcing the bottle in while riding one handed. Held a full bottle while at a downhill park.
Normally a comment like “It just works” is not glowing praise. However, in this case it is. I normally hate bottle cages. Until recently I refused to use them because I lost track of the number of times I reached for a bottle during a mountain bike race only to find that the bottle was gone.
I purchased this cage to use in a long distance mountain bike race. After 100 miles and numerous rocky descents my bottles were still secure in the cage. The weight claims are accurate. My cage weighed just under 30g.

My road bike has a short seat tube, which caused problems when I tried to retrieve or put back large bottles in a standard cage. The Other Sideloader makes it easy to grab bottles with a slight tug to the left (non-drive side) when mounted on the seat tube.
That said, bottles stay put when I’m riding over potholes and bumpy road surfaces–not all ultralight cages pass this test like Arundel’s. Bottom line: the Other Sideloader remedies a specific problem, adds little weight to your bike, and looks great.

This bottle cage is a solid performer and worth the upgrade from a budget price cage. It holds the bottle securely, but it is still easy to get the bottle in and our while riding. I have never had the bottle bounce out.
I added the cage to an aero bike. The design and materials fit in nicely with the look of the bike. I was also able to select a color that matched with the bike.

I chose these cages to replace some aging aluminum Specialized cages on a road bike. They are fine enough – strong, fairly light, and not too stiff – but I feel like it would’ve been a better value to get a pair of slightly more stylish carbon cages for a little more money, especially since these didn’t include mounting bolts! At first, I tried putting this on my seat tube, but it was really hard to remove bottles from the cage. I almost sent it back, when I thought I’d attach it to the down tube instead. It’s brilliant!! The side exit takes a couple of practices and then feels more natural than a standard bottle cage.
So now I have a stand one on my seat tube and this right exit one on my down tube.
Nicely designed cage that holds bidon securely. Works nicely with a half frame bag, maximising the space inside the triangle. It’s worth remembering that a right-hand side entry cage mounted on the seat tube becomes left-hand entry.
This is fine if you are comfortable using either hand to access your bidon, but not everybody is. I have to admit I hadn’t thought about this, but it hasn’t been an issue for me.
The space in my frame is pretty tight as I have a full suspension bike. In fact I couldn’t get the bottle out of a normal ‘top loading’ bottle cage. This side-loader does the job well, providing easy access and holds the bottle (500ml) in place over the roughest of ground.

This thing is awesome. I prefer to pick from the left (keeps my right hand on the handlebar), but my kids prefer from the right (they don’t know any better). This lets me get them started right handed and once they see the error of their ways, they can learn to be lefties.
This thing works well enough, especially for the money. The left/right adjustability is great as my son changed his mind after trying it in one orientation for a while. I bought the blue/black to continue the Cube branding for my new Cube Attain black bike. The blue is a lovely addition, and kinda matte in finish. Bought Cube bottles to go with it and they fit perfectly, well gripped by the cage.
