Shoes for white water rafting are designed to protect your feet from the cold water and the rocks in the river. They should be made of a waterproof material and have a good grip to prevent you from slipping.
If you need to tuck your feet into tight kayaks or want to feel more in touch with your SUP board, the NRS Kinetic is your wet shoe. Warmth and protection in a flexible, compact package, the NRS Kinetic Water Shoe is here! Upper and insole are constructed with 3mm Terraprene neoprene with titanium to keep your feet warm from heel to toe.
1. 5mm textured rubber sole with 2mm plastic shim won’t add bulk, and still protects your feet both In and out of the boat. Naturally shaped toe box provides a roomy, non-binding fit. Stretchy rubber bands improve lateral stability and help hold the shoe to your foot.
Shoe top draw cord with barrel-lock adjustment keeps your foot snug and secure. Armor patches guard the upper from abrasion and add even more protection for your foot. The heel loop tab makes donning and doffing easy and is a great way to hang the shoes to dry after use.
Water shoes are available in multiple sizes and are black in color with red and white accents.
These are the perfect thing for surf ski. You want something on your feet to walk on rocks or reef if necessary, but it’s got to be flexible enough to feel the rudder pedals. I like them so much I got a pair for my brother too.
They would be great in any type of kayak as well, ocean or WW. I’m size 10. 5 and their 11 fits well. He is 12. 5 and their 13 is perfect for him. I’m in them straight 4 days a week 8 months of the year.
For Lake Michigan in the winter I wear a neoprene sock under my dry suit and these over that!.
I have racing kayaks and surf skis that you need to be able to work the rudder pedals with just your toes as they are small and on top of the foot plate. The foot plate is designed so you can maintain contact with the rest of your foot to keep power in your strokes while operating the rudder pedals with just your toes.
This requires a flexible water shoe and the Kinetic is perfect for this. I have worn them in numerous distance races of 50-72 miles and probably over 5,000 training miles over the last five and a half years.
I also use them during my kayaking classes as we practice a lot open water rescues plus self rescues and spend a lot of time out of the boat working alongside individual students so the lightweight Kinetic is welcome.
I wear the Kicker Remix in my other boats without rudders as I’m usually in a situation where I’ll need traction and a thicker sole to hike around sandbars and other obstacles. I normally wear a 10. 5 and so ordered a 10 first and then went to an 11 as the 11 had the best fit.
It looks so casual you wouldn’t suspect it of being a high-performance watershoe. The Astral Women’s Loyak gives you superb grip, great comfort and it’ll fit in any kayak. The upper is a hydrophobic canvas for durability, with 2.
5 mm Airmesh in the vamp and tongue for breathability. 7 mm thick closed-cell foam midsole provides cushioning comfort for your foot. G. 15 high-friction rubber sole is super flexible for fitting in tight spaces.
It’s 3. 5 mm thick, razor siped for additional grip and non-marking. Recessed stitching securely connects the canvas upper directly to the outsole rubber. Roomy toe box keeps your foot happy. Holes at toe and heel allow water to escape, while reducing entry of sand and silt.
With its superlative grip, comfort and chilled-out looks, the Loyak is your kayaking, rafting, SUP, sailing and everyday summer shoe.
These shoes are cute on and don’t have the ridiculous-looking ‘Punky Brewster’ colors all over them like almost every active-shoe for women does these days (why do manufacturers think adult women want to look like nine-year-olds?).
I normally wear a 9 in women’s and these in a 9 fit as expected. Like Keens, they are wider in the toes so they provide plenty of wiggle room for toes. I bought these shoes mostly for the beach, on the sand, rocks, and in the surf with my grandchildren and these shoes are great for that.
They are lightweight and grip the ground well, which is important to me because I took a spill a few months ago and one of my knees is still messed up from it! I have no problem walking on the sand and I also come home with no sand in my shoes.
The only thing that prevents me from giving these five stars is I am conflicted about the bumpy footbed. It doesn’t really bother me when I am wearing them; in fact, I forget about the bumps after I’ve had them on for a few minutes.
However, I do not really understand what purpose they serve and sometimes it feels like sand in my shoes when there is no sand in them; it’s just the built-in bumps. I wish REI sold them in more colors because I would purchase them.
The Northside Brille II Water Shoe is a comfy and convenient hybrid shoe. This looks like a regular sneaker, but it’s actually made of quick-drying neoprene and mesh. Drawstring laces make it easy to quickly cinch your shoes, and an extra grippy sole provides traction on slippery surfaces.
Nylon mesh upper. Quick-drying fabric. Cushioned EVA footbed. Bungee cord for easy in and out. Flexible thermoplastic rubber sole.
NRS Work Boot Neoprene Kayak Shoes – High-grade, heavy-duty, or top of the line – whatever you want to call these boots, they are the best working river shoes on the market today. Used by river professionals, adventure racers, rescue agencies, and military units, you can count on Work Boots no matter what the conditions.
Premium materials have been combined with outstanding craftsmanship and exceptional design. You won’t find a better working shoe for daily river running. These are the boots professionals use to ensure protection.
The heavy-duty lugged traction sole keeps you on your feet in varied terrain. Lace-up synthetic leather and 5mm neoprene upper provide warmth and unmatched ankle support. A plastic 2 mm midsole shim delivers sturdy protection from sharp rocks, and the 7 mm insole absorbs the shock of every step.
These boots are self-draining, quick-drying, and, of course, they float.
Prepare yourself for any water sport with the Realm Water Shoes from Body Glove. These men’s water shoes feature a sleek design in black for a sporty look you will love. Made with a strong EVA sole and durable fabric, you can rest easy knowing these athletic water shoes will hold up during any activity.
Whether you’re wading through the water, hiking through the woods or enjoying an afternoon on the lake, these closed-toe water shoes will keep your feet in great shape.
The Astral Hiyak Kayak Shoe is lighter, more durable, and faster-drying than traditional neoprene booties, not to mention grippier and more stable too. The ultra abrasion-resistant upper is far more durable than neoprene, and it’s bonded directly to the rubber outsole for enhanced stability.
Airmesh insulation, like neoprene, traps air between your foot and the waterproof shell to keep your feet warm. But unlike neoprene, it dries out overnight so it’s ready to go again the next day. A removable EVA midsole cushions your step when you’re crossing rocky terrain or jagged river beds.
The outsole features Astral’s stickiest rubber, G. 55, for reliable grip on slippery surfaces.
Really happy with these. I bought them to go with my drysuit, and they accommodate drysuit socks very well. Very comfy and low profile, despite the fact that I bought a size up because that was all that was available at the time.
Great for white water SUP, or for getting in and out from under canoe seats when kneeling. I feel confident they wouldn’t hang up when exiting out of most canoes and kayaks. Definitely light and low profile! They feel like wearing moccasins.
You feel every rock and root. This is great for nimbleness when scouting, as they are also reliably grippy, but if you needed to portage or hike out over rocks for a long time, you would long for something beefier.
These river shoes are some of my most trusted and favorite gear. I?ve worn them on overnight kayaking expeditions for days as my only foot gear. They double well when you are packing minimal for hiking/canyoning on a kayak trip.
The sticky soles work well for portaging rocky river banks. I sized up for wearing over drysuit socks in the winter, but with lacing I can wear them in the summer as well. They dry/drain well-no river funk.
This is my second pair- after 6 years, the sole was a little worn and a few seams opened but they were still wearable. Super good value.
I bought the size 11s before I bought the size 10s and have to say they make it very easy to swap the sizes. (they are an extremely polite bunch) 11 too big. 10 marginal – but that’s just my feet. The shoe though – EXCELLENT.
Perhaps not the easiest to put on but very secure and snug once laced up offering a solid feel and secure footing in most settings. I’ve carried a heavy kayak over stony ground – and I weigh a bit myself! – and they are supportive and offer decent protection from stones.
And I’ve also walked over a mile in them – effortless. I’ve splashed around in self-rescues, swam a bit in them, and find them great in the water. The drainage holes in the front are effective at draining water but I did get quite a lot of sand in them.
So far NO SMELLS. a huge improvement from my rank and disgusting neoprene booties!! I think I’ll get the 11s back too as they offer more room with a drysuit booties and a sock while not being too long for my sea kayak.
The Body Glove 3T Barefoot Cinch for men is the perfect water shoe for everything from kayaking, SUP, swimming, and everything in between. These shoes can be worn on the beach, while fishing and for paddling.
You’ll enjoy the freedom and comfort of this water footwear.
A playboater’s go-to bootie, the lightweight NRS Freestyle Wetshoe is crazy flexible, perfect for fitting into tight boats. Plus, a naturally shaped toe box and high-rise design provide additional comfort and protection for all-day boating.
A sustainable alternative to traditional neoprene, petroleum-free Terraprene neoprene is made from limestone and recycled tires. Constructed with 3 mm thick neoprene upper for maximum warmth with a 3 mm neoprene insole for added comfort.
Stretchy rubber support bands improve lateral stability while a 1. 5 mm textured rubber outsole provides protection and optimal grip. Cush graphene-infused interior provides thermal-conductive properties for more warmth while also reducing water retention.
The HydroCuff hugs the ankle tight to prevent excess water from dripping in. Reinforced at the toe and heel for long-lasting durability. Features an ankle pull tab to help slip the bootie on and off.
My shoe size is generally a normal width UK 11 so on advice ordered a UK 12 to accommodate a sock and a dry suit sock. It’s a fantastic fit and there’s sufficient room to flex the toes without the boot wallowing about.
The sole isnt the thickest however it’s ideal for tramping down to the Ericht or the Garry and the grip is ample on paths and wet rocks. The material has a plush inner making for a warm boot and I’m happy to add that it dries out slightly faster than my standard boots.
There’s a touch of colour to the boots if that excites your fashion concerns. I had tried the Palm Paw but these were ridiculously large and slightly snug across the foot. Overall I’m well impressed with the NRS watershoe and would recommend them for large feet and tight spaces.
PS thanks to Northshore for a rapid dispatch of the shoes and some great advice.
Despite the high-top design for added support and protection, the NRS Men&39;s Paddle Wetshoe maintains a low profile for fitting into tight boats. Thick neoprene coupled with a soft interior lining provides maximum insulation, while a hardy rubber sole protects your feet from rocks.
A sustainable alternative to traditional neoprene, petroleum-free Terraprene neoprene is made from limestone and recycled tires. Construction combines a 3 mm thick neoprene upper with titanium adhesive throughout for increased warmth.
A 3 mm thick high-traction sole, paired with a 5 mm neoprene insole and 2 mm plastic shim provides maximum protection. Cush graphene-infused interior provides thermal-conductive properties for more warmth while also reducing water retention.
Reinforced at the toe and heel for long-lasting durability. A hook-and-loop webbing strap across the top of the foot adjusts for a customized fit. Designed with a naturally shaped toe box for all-day comfort.
The gusset-backed YKK entry zipper opens wide, letting you easily slip the Paddle Shoe on and off, whether barefoot or over socks. Also features a webbing pull tab to aid in donning.
Quetico boundary water trip first use. Great performance, very comfortable, arch strap keeps the boot snug when portaging. This is a wet boot and I was wearing wool boot liner socks. I wear a 10 to 10 1/2 but went up to an 11 as this is not a hiking boot and liked the extra toe space.
Agree with other reviewers that if there are a lot of rocky portages this may not be the right choice. Suggestions for the manufacturer add a stone guard mid sole and weep holes.
Just opened the box and these are going straight back. The quality is not what I expect from NRS. The construction between the 2 boots is not at all symmetrical, plus the rubber sides have been sloppily cut and applied.
I fear they will split after a few wearings. They certainly do not compare to the quality of my previous NRS 3mm paddle boots. Please bring back your QC or expect to lose past customers NRS.
This is an update to my previous review. I had ordered my typical size 11 and they were tight against my toes to the point they hurt. Upon further review with my other NRS size 11 boot I have worn for three years I found they were in fact the same size, BUT, the heal curved up faster making it seem smaller when put flat sole to sole.
This is what forced my middle toe into the front of the boot making it uncomfortable. My service request to NRS was handled by Tiffany. The NRS service I received is as good as the best I have received anywhere.
Tiffany worked with me to send a size 12 in this boot and a size 11 in another. This was after questioning me carefully about what I was wanting to make sure she provided the correct options. Tiffany is great! I received the new boots a few days later and tried both the size 12 of the Men’s Paddle Wetshoe and the size 11 of the other.
Both fit. Next tried the size 12 in my Liquid Logic Remix 69. At 6’2″ my feet go quite a ways in and I was concerned the bigger boot would not fit. But it did. Since it is a Michigan winter and very cold I went to a pool session and paddled for three hours.
No problems, worked well. I am raising my 3 star rating to a 5. The boot seems well made. The fit, due to the design, could be tight for someone like myself depending on where their actual foot length, especially with the middle toe, falls.
Bottom line, the normal size may or may not work. But the next size up worked great. I do like having more room in the front of the boot width wise. My middle toe was back 1/2 inch in other type boot.
Maybe that helps others decide size to order? If too small (or large) contact NRS support. They are wonderful! Replacement boots had no charge for shipping to me and there was a paid return label to ship back.
NRS really takes care of their customers! Certainly my credit card was charged for the two boots I was sent to try. Both boots when sent back were promptly credited once NRS received them back.
The NRS Backwater Wetshoes are the ultimate wading bootie for kayak anglers moving in and out of the boat in pursuit of fish. Built for comfort and utility, these shoes protect your feet for wading, portaging, launching and landing.
High-top, low profile design provides maximum warmth and protection during long days in the water. Durable 3 mm ToughTex Neoprene insulation through the instep and front of ankle. 3 mm Airprene around the sides and back of the ankle provide slight ventilation and breathability.
Gusset-backed side-entry zipper makes the Backwater easy to slip on, whether you’re barefoot or wearing a wetsock. Anatomically shaped toe box lets your toes move freely for superior comfort all day.
Custom NRS non-marking rubber compound delivers maximum wet traction.
Taking off wet neoprene boots can be a pain in the hind end. Having a side zip shoe like this is the best option I’ve seen to combat the humidity and that foot suck that makes you struggle to remove your neoprene after a long day on the water.
The velcro over flap is also a nice touch to keep your zipper from getting caught up in a pant leg and then loosening up. Another big plus for me is that the NRS Backwater is protective yet breathable at the same time.
These wetshoes aren’t meant to keep you bone dry. The design is for tolerable water temps but you won’t get swamp feet either. It’s a good combination of circulation and thermal water heating. Probably the most surprising thing to me was the comfort.
On one of my test trips out I actually got out of the kayak and bank stomped for a couple of hours. I wore the Backwater shoes and they were really comfortable. The tread was nice and gripping on the wet rocks and because they rise well above the ankle and lack open vents, I didn’t have to clean gravel out of them after stomping around.
Ventilation but no intrusion is a great plus in my book. I’ve spent way too many days digging rocks out of my water shoes. I love the fact that the shoe has structure and seam reinforcement. Normal neoprene boots are so dang floppy that you feel like a kid wearing their Dad’s socks around.
These wetshoes fit like a shoe. The reinforced heel and toe box are great additions so wear and tear won’t happen for many, many miles.
Love them. I used these in my fishing kayak. My dry pants with booties and a warm pair of wool socks fit. underneath perfectly. My feet stay comfortable and warm in colder temperatures. The only thing I wish they had is a loop on the back to help pull them on.

Recreational boaters looking for basic foot protection from gravel put-ins and mucky waters will love the lightweight comfort of the NRS Women’s Arroyo Wetshoe. Constructed with 1. 5 mm thick neoprene upper for extra warmth and a 1.
8 mm rubber outsole for protection and optimal grip. The 2 mm neoprene footbed combines with a 2 mm PE shim for added comfort, structure and support. Flexible, sleek design for tucking into tight kayaks or packing into stuffed gear bags.
A wide opening combines with a stretchy neoprene cuff and ankle pull tab to make slipping the Arroyo on and off easy. Roomy toe box lets you wiggle your toes which helps maintain balance and control.
I normally wear Chacos, but needed something to keep my feet warmer for shoulder season. I normally wear a women’s 9. 5/10. I bought these with a little extra room to wear with wool socks and a pair of Sealskinz waterproof socks.
They’re great! Only surprise is the more flexible sole provides less sturdy protection than the Chaco. Duh. But I didn’t notice it until it came time to hop out of the boat onto the rocky shore. Pointy rocks were pointy! I had to plan my steps a bit more carefully.
Very good show for water aerobics. Easy to put on and stays securely on during our activities. Good traction. Very light weight. Dries overnight for the next day’s class. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 shoe but I ordered a size 9 in these.
Love these water shoes–so comfortable and easy to wear! The soles are hard enough that they protect your feet from rocks but flexible and easy to wear kayaking (or whatever water sport you choose). The turquoise color is beautiful! I also put them in the washing machine and let them air dry, and they came out great!.

I am on the third pair of this exact style. Wore out the first pair after three years of daily use in Arizona and traveling. Wearing the second pair over the past year and they are going strong however the soles are worn.
The third pair is worn sparingly for “special occasions”. I tried on Keens, Tevas and others and found the arch was to high of not in the right place for me. It’s going to be hard to replace this model.
Picked these up for use out at the rivers. They are Perfect! I use to use regular water shoes. But my feet would always hurt from walking on the river rocks. These shoes I could tell the difference immediately.
The soles are thick and add plenty of cushion when walking over river rocks. The best part is the Toe protection bumper. It covers all the toes. The other water shoes I was looking at it didn’t offer the toe protection that this one did.
When the water isn’t clear and you can’t see what you’re walking on the toe protection really helps!.
This is actually my second pair of these water shoes. The prior pair stunk horribly after getting wet launching my boat in the Florida Everglades where I’d do some bass fishing. I even tried rinsing them with fresh water after an outing but they would just STINK bad where I’d have to throw them out.
I gave it a 4 because, other than that issue, they really were very comfortable after a day of fishing on the boat.
Complete with a patented integrated drainage system (ids) and adjustable shocklace, the Body Glove sidewinder water shoes for men let you enjoy water sports that much more.
Bought these for a lake vacation. Didn’t want to spend a lot and they were on sale, so totally a win for me. They do run large, so I ordered a half size down as other reviewers suggested. They are also wide, but the Velcro closure helps to make them more snug.
They are really comfortable, very soft and do not rub. The lake bottom is mostly sand and it gets in the shoes, but is not irritating to my feet at all. I am so glad I went for the less expensive option, I really like them.
These water shoes are easy to put on with the quick Velcro closure. The rubber bottom has a good grip. The insert inside the shoes fits snugly and doesn’t come out. However, it can be taken out if you need to remove sand.
Sizing: Runs large. I typically wear 8. 5 shoes. Purchased and 8 which fits good with extra room to spare.
I got these for kayaking and our various adventures while camping. They are comfortable, and more fashionable than other options I’ve seen. the ‘maryjane’ strap is a nice touch, and I love the hot pink color.
They do run LARGE; I am typically a size 9. 5/10, and a 9 ft with a bit of wiggle room. If oyu are between sizes, definitely size down.
SAGUARO fashionable men’s women’s outdoor water shoes have unparalleled comfort. The colors can be used with different outdoor gear, so women or men can wear them as needed. The mesh lining can protect your feet.
Breathe in warm weather, and thick rubber soles can protect feet outdoors. With busy parents in mind, trail barefoot shoes with quick laces are ideal surf shoes. Lightweight and easy to carry. Will love comfort and durability; these water shoes are easy to flow clean and quick dry so they are durable; they may be the only aqua shoes you want to wear in summer! Give yours such a surprise, and you will enjoy the whole pleasant summer.
Really happy with these shoes. Very comfortable for naked feet, and don’t rub anywhere. Worn a few times whilst walking the dog now, as my better weather alternative to my hiking boots, and I am loving them.
Very dissappointed with the customer service. Bought 7 pairs of shoes, one pair has a factory mistake and I reached out to customer support via the website contact form and chat option. 3 days have passed, no reply.
The company seem to be eager to take your money but once the order is paid they no longer care to respond to customers. In general, shoes are very good value for money, if you are lucky enough to get the pair without factory mistakes.
Usually I don’t leave reviews but am very disappointed with this situation, especially since I liked the shoes initially very much. Will update the review if I hear back from customer support anytime soon.
Keep feet comfortable and protected in the water with the Huk Men’s Outrigger Water Shoes. Lightweight, breathable mesh uppers dry quickly so you can move in and out of the river, lake, or surf comfortably.
Full drainage in the EVA midsoles sheds excess water fast for even greater comfort in wet environments. Molded EVA insoles cushion and absorb shock, while non-marking rubber outsoles with SLICE tread patterns provide nonslip traction on wet or dry terrain.
Welded TPU side supports and integrated lacing offer a secure fit.
I purchased these shoes to wear while fishIng on my bass boat. These shoes are nice and lite, very comfortable, and my feet are not as fatigued after fishing all day while wearing them. I recommend these shoes to anyone who is on their feet for long periods of time.
These are a very attractive shoe. Unfortunately they did not work for me. A lot of the Huk shoes are too narrow for me so I have to try them on. These were too narrow. Please start making in wide sizes!.
The top is made with sustainable materials and construction methods, including recycled materials and environmentally friendly practices. Neoprene collar with mesh construction for comfort and fit. Synthetic overshoes for durability.
A casual water shoe that tells a story of sustainability and is functional enough for any type of summer activity. Bloom Foam midsole with discreet openings for air circulation. Recycled rubber with an optimal wet surface.
I wore these for white water rafting and general walking activities near water and they worked great. Drained water well and felt comfortable. My biggest complaint is the design. You might notice there’s a white label in the inner lining of the shoe, it’s not supppeerr noticeable but enough that I tried removing it, had no luck, and was planning to return it.
The blue sole is also a bit more noticeable IRL than it is in the photos which makes the white a bit less prominent.
A breathable upper material is designed for a comfortable fit as you trek through wet areas, with outsoles featuring drainage holes to help keep the shoes from building up with water. The slip-on style with elastic bungee laces makes for easy on and off, and you can adjust the fit to your liking with the help of a toggle closure.
Within the shoe is a foam liner for cushioned comfort, but it can be removed to accommodate your fit preference. When families come together to discover the joy of staying active, All in Motion is there to make it easy and comfortable to embrace a bustling lifestyle.
When designing these extremely versatile shoes, The North Face thought about those days when you want to wade through rivers or enjoy water sports. Water drains from the shoes in record time, so they dry quickly.
Thanks to their mesh upper material, which inhibits the formation of odours, Skagit water shoes are incredibly breathable. This makes them ideal for warm and humid climates. On smooth surfaces, the non-slip outsole provides tread resistance.
Exploration Trax System (EXTS)The North Face special Exploration Trax System (EXTS) uses a three-step approach A unique outsole for wet and dry traction, the perfect tread pattern alignment provides optimum ground contact whilst the tread design provides support whilst you’re are on the trails.
I purchased 2 pairs of these water shoes, one for my wife and one for myself for our trip to Can in Mexico. I have never worn these before let alone even held them in my hand but I trusted the north face quality of the brand.
wow am I glad I did. The first time I decided to wear them, was to go to a national park in Mexico called “XCARET” and I was a bit worried about wearing these shoes all day without knowing how they would feel on my feet.
We left the resort at 6:30am and got to the national park at 9am. I walked all day throw rough lime stone terrain, swam with dolphins, went 25 feet under water in the ocean on a seatrek, went through caves, climbed some Mayan ruins and swam in 3 different natural springs which were 1hr each to get to the other side.
We got back to the resort at 11:30pm and the entire time I NEVER took the skagit water shoes off and I couldn’t believe how versatile and comfortable the shoes were for my very first time wearing them, I never had to even break them in.
I was so blown away! I give them a 10 star out of 5!.
I’ve been going to the beach in Gulf Shores Alabama for 24 yrs twice a year. Have purchased multiple pairs of water shoes, sandals, clogs and all of them either made my feet sore or let sand in rubbing blisters.
My New Northface Water shoes exceeded my expectations! They gave me all the protection I wanted. Fit snug and easy drawstring adjustments. Walked for miles in them on the beach all week with no discomfort whatsoever.
You can turn them into slip on around the house or pool just by folding down the backs and sliding feet right in and just as comfortable as before. Will order another pair when I get home,to be sure if my first pair ever wears out I’ll be sure to have a replacement.
If the water is your destination, this is your shoe. The Astral Brewer 2 Water Shoe is designed for all things water C from paddling to wading C with a super-sticky outsole, quick-drying upper and light, flexible construction.
For half sizes not offered, order up to next whole size. Hydrophobic canvas upper drains water and dries quickly. Balanced Geometry EVA foam midsole helps you cover technical terrain. G Rubber outsole C Astral’s stickiest C provides superior traction on slick surfaces.
Unique Lilo construction reduces weight and increases flexibility. Foldable heel features a slit to help sand and water drain right out. Also a great choice for the trail, travel or boat. Imported.
The Brewer is by far the best water shoe I’ve worn. The grip on wet rocks, raft frame, rubber, etc is unmatched and I find them to be very comfortable. They drain well and look rad on and off the water.
I finally had to get some 2. 0s after a few years of HEAVY use saw my OGs get retired. Here are a few things that I found I didn’t like quite as much about the 2. 0 compared to original: – more narrow in the midfoot as others have pointed out.
It doesn’t bother me too much after having them on for a while, but if you have wide feet, could be an issue. – while the grip is still great, I dont think it’s as good as the OG. The sole is much firmer in the 2.
0s and maybe that’s why it seems a bit less grippy. Still better than anything else out there though! – the material on the inside of the OG was almost a ripstop type material. The 2. 0 has one that, while soft, I find it can sometimes irritate my feet when wet.
Chalk that one up to a personal problem I guess? I also feel like the OG material dried faster too. – 2. 0s drain well, but compared to the OGs it doesn’t even come close. The OGs had a clear opening in the heel that offered superb draining.
The 2. 0s have a tiny little hole in the heel which leaves the shoe wetter longer. Overall, the Brewer is still the shoe I recommend to anyone that’s on the river a fair amount. I wear them to the office sometimes because they are so comfortable.
So while the 2. 0s feel like a step back to me, still a top notch shoe. (If I wasn’t familiar with the OG Brewer, this review would likely be 5 stars).
