Osprey Aura 50 Ag – Women's Challenger Blue
Anti Gravity suspensionfeels like you are carrying less weight than is in your pack
Adjustable harness and Fit on the Fly hipbelt to dial in perfect fit
Head out for a weekend, a week or an epic thru-hike: the Aura AG 50 can handle whatever you want to throw in it. Osprey’s brilliant Anti-Gravity suspension supports the load and holds it slightly away from your back for comfortable carrying through the kilometres.
Tons of pockets let you organize all your gear so you’re never left searching for a place to stash your trail mix, and side compression straps let you keep things streamlined as you eat through your food.
On lightweight missions, swap out the top lid for the included FlapJacket lid to save weight. Made of lightweight 100-denier nylon with durable 210-denier high-density nylon in high-wear areas. Anti-Gravity suspension with peripheral frame and suspended mesh back panel effectively transfers the load to the hipbelt while letting cool air flow through to your back.
Die-cut foam shoulder straps have a structural load-lifter bar for weight transfer and comfort. Fit-on-the-Fly hipbelt can be easily adjusted on the go. Women’s specific fit uses a shoulder harness and hipbelt designed to fit the curves of a woman’s neck, shoulders, chest and hips for optimal load transfer and support.
Removable floating top lid can be replaced with the included FlapJacket lid to protect your gear and minimize weight. Stretch-mesh front and side pockets let you stash gear on the fly. Zippered hipbelt, front and lid pockets provide secure storage.
Bottom zippered compartment provides a dedicated home for your sleeping bag and has a removable divider. Dual tool loops with bungee tie-offs carry ice axes. Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachments let you stash your poles without removing the pack.
Side compression straps and removable sleeping pad straps cinch in the load and allow you to attach extra gear. Hydration sleeve holds a 3L reservoir (sold separately). Osprey rates this pack as best for loads 25-40lbs/11-18kg.
I really like most of the new changes on this upgraded pack. The side access to the main compartment is a welcome addition as are the lashing points on the brain of the pack (helps to lash my sleeping bag, so that I can carry the bear canister inside the pack without sacrificing space).
The materials used a recycled, which is good, but hope they last as long as the regular materials. I haven’t had the terrible squeaking so far that the my prior version bag had. This squeaking was pretty common (the bag would let out squeaking sounds with every step – highly annoying when hiking.
Check out the many reviews that mention this on the REI site). Time will tell if that squeaking has been addressed by addressing the frame build. My only con is that they have reduced the maximum weight capacity.
The prior version in Medium, had a load capacity of 30-50 lbs. This new bag is now 30-40 lbs. This might be enough for those that backpack with little gear, but we like to take lots of food on our 8 day trips to the Yosemite Wilderness and the reduced capacity is giving us pause.
I needed to replace my 15-year old Osprey backpack, which I LOVED because of the nice air-flow between the pack and my back. I was happy to see that the new version had the same mesh design, but was not convinced about the comfort of the stiff, molded hip belt when I tried it on in the store.
I bought it anyway (couldn’t find another brand I liked better). To my surprise, this model was a real improvement! Although it’s not quite “anti-gravity”, the hip belt really does focus the weight where it’s the most comfortable for me (right on my lower back dimples), and I feel no weight on my shoulders (my old Osprey would pull on my shoulders, no matter how I adjusted the straps).
The big downside to this belt is that it’s hard to put on: you have to pry it open to get it around your waist. Finding a big rock to sit you and your pack on helps; if available, a friend’s assistance also works.
Another minor issue with the belt was some chafing in the front, but those spots toughened up by my second backpacking trip. Overall, I’m really happy with this pack!.

Safe for all skin types, its noncomedogenic formula makes its suitable for oily skin. Damage caused by sun exposure is cumulative. Break this cycle for all your family members with the head-to-toe protection of 7% transparent zinc oxide.
I and my kids have worn this sunblock on our face under every condition (city, ski, beach) for probs the last 10 years. I’ve tried every expensive to cheap non-comedogenic brand and this is the ONLY one that BLOCKS the sun AND doesn’t create more than the usual amount of zits for myself and my 3 kids.
I’m writing this (usually too selfish and lazy to write reviews) because my son bought some new HERO brand sunblock he saw from an “influencer” on Tik Tok and preceded to wear it last weekend and he got FRIED! I tried to explain to him that although his TikToker may recommend they #1 are likely not as smart as me and #2 have not sacrificed their skin for their child and tried 50ish face sunblocks to see if cause zits.
3 Kids details: The non-listener Boy/17 ON ACCUTANE (yes I know more photosensitive but still most def should not be getting burned while wearing a “sunblock” for 2 hours walking around. and I know this because my other son now 21 was also on Accutane when 16 and wore this Elta brand and never got burned.
current Skin type: Now super dry, inflamed and a mix of underground and white head zits. Girl 20 Gets zits frequently both white head and underground. Pretty sure her zit sitch is a combo of eating and hormones.
skin type: semi-sensitive and on the dry side. Boy 21 overall picture perfect skin. maybe gets a couple of zits a month. (he’s the one that was on Accutane at age 16) Skin type: not sensitive and on the dry side.
Me 51: get an underground zit once a month even though I don’t get my period anymore! Skin Type: Normal to dry. My routine: twice a day and every day I use a French brand (not sold here) moisturizing lactic acid toner, if dry I’ll put a cream on, and then I use this sunblock.
oh and. 5% prescription Retin A gel when I remember, which is like 5 times a month. I realize we all have different skin types so please don’t blame me if you get zits. but if you do I suggest you look into other possible reasons why you got them.
I think most of us usually blame what we put ON our face. which yes is often justified but in my opinion mostly appropriate for immediate reaction situations. and for the non-immediate reactions (especially where zits are concerned) it really does make sense to consider some internal factors as well.
I’m going to try and be less selfish and write more reviews cause I seriously have tried almost every brand and product under the sun. Peace out.
I have deep-dark black skin that is also dry and sensitive (photosensitive eczema), so finding a mineral sunscreen for my face that doesn’t leave a white cast is a high priority for me. Of the mineral facial sunscreens, this is generally one of my favorites to use as the white cast is minimal/disappears fairly quickly even on my dark skin tone.
I will say that after having this product/using it for a while, I’ve noticed a little bit pilling in a product that I’d bought and had for about a year now, but it may just be that the product is less stable than when I bought it ~12 months ago.
For the first ~6-8 months that I used the product though, I had no qualms and generally used this product when I wasn’t planning on wearing any makeup/cosmetics (which is most days). As someone with dry skin, I haven’t found any issue, but I also make sure to put on a fairly good moisturizer prior to SPF, so I can’t comment if it is drying, but I have noticed that on days that I don’t put on as good of a moisturizer or my skin is dryer, the white cast stays on a little longer/is slightly more difficult to eliminate signs of residue (but again, this is slight and almost negligible in comparison to previous mineral sunscreens I’ve tried).
The cream-like consistency wasn’t as much of a problem at all, but on days that I’d like to have more of a lighter feeling of product on the face, I do opt for the more fluid formulations that I prefer.
Overall, I really like this product and I keep coming back to it/have yet to find a sunscreen of this consistency with a mineral filter that can beat it. If you’re looking for a lighter/more fluid formula though, I’d look elsewhere (which is probably expected given this product doesn’t make any claims in that regard).

I was really struggling to find the perfect helmet and had tried on so many. For folks saying the fit is wrong, each brand and style has a different shape. You really need to try them on to find the one that fits your head.
Giro helmets all fit me better than any other brand I tried — more rounded than the rest. If you have problems with pressure points on the sides of your heads, try Giro. I was getting headaches from a borrowed helmet that was pressing on my temples.
The matte spruce color is stunning. I received many compliments on my first day wearing it! The one complaint I have about this helmet, and all other Giros I’ve seen, is that the chin strap is not adjustable enough.
No idea what the designer was thinking when they decided to add a line of stitching holding the chin cushioning in place. You need to be able to slide it to the side to shorten the chin strap, which is impossible with this design.
For now, I’ve scrunched up the chin cushioning as much as possible to tighten the strap. If needed, I’ll just use a seam ripper on that line of stitching so I can slide it over and tighten more. Fits perfectly with my older Smith goggles.
Comfortable and still felt light after a full day on the mountain. Highly recommend.
Smith Vida Snow Helmet (Matte Satin White, Large) – The Vida is a new women’s helmet built from the ground up to embody sleek feminine lines combined with the best of Smith protection and comfort. The Vida features Increased protection of Koroyd and MIPS.
Fit is everything when it comes to helmet protection, and the Vida ensures a custom fit with the VaporFit adjustable fit system. Stay comfortable all day via the simple on-the-go shutter button for maximum warmth or cooling.
Finally the AirEvac ventilation system ensures fog-free integration with Smith helmets. The new Vida provides the ideal fit, comfort, and protection.
Not the worst helmet, but for the price (even though it’s on the low end for Smith helmets) I was pretty disappointed. Overall it’s pretty good, but where it falls way short of slightly more expensive options is in the earpads/overall ear area.
Mine was suuuuper uncomfortable and painful on my left ear no matter how I adjusted it, and I ended up having to disconnect the ear pads and rip out the foam insert that is glued inside the earpads so I could avoid getting a migraine from wearing this thing.
Part 2 of why the ear design sucks is the compatibility with audio inserts (in my case Outdoor Tech wireless chips, i. e. pretty dang common audio inserts). The helmet is said to be compatible with Outdoor Tech audio chips (on REI product description as well as the one on Smith’s website) and it technically is I guess.
but it is NOT easy to insert the chips, and the way the adjustor connected to the BOA at the back of the helmet is designed, you also run the risk of that piece just totally breaking if you try to insert the chips.
even inserting them the “correct” way. Spoiler alert, my helmet broke doing just this. Seems like a design failure on Smith’s part for sure. I couldn’t easily find directions from Smith on how to insert the chips, and had to do some deep digging to finally figure out the process, which is really not intuitive at all.
That point was particularly irritating seeing as on some of their other helmets, it’s super easy to insert audio, so really don’t understand the disconnect with this model. All in all, if you want a safe helmet (this has MIPS so yay) that’s pretty basic, this isn’t the worst.
Might be uncomfortable or painful, and not easy to take out the extra foam padding, but honestly it’ll do the job. But really if you want something that’s good for using audio inserts, spring for the Smith Vantage that has zippered ear flaps or something similar.
it’s significantly easier if you’re using an audio system, and also the helmet probably won’t break when you try to use it for one of its advertised features. Mine broke just outside REI’s year return policy and Smith won’t cover this issue, so I’m really wishing I paid $100 more to get a comfortable helmet that actually works as advertised.

I bought this pack about a month ago, as I was headed on a backpacking trip to Iceland. I didn’t have time to go get fitted and I figured that I could return it if I didn’t like the fit. From the moment I tried it on, I loved it.
The formed hip supports funnel all the weight onto your hips and pelvis and off of your shoulders. It is super easy to adjust on the trail to alter where the weight lands. I usually get headaches from carrying backpacks, as I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders anyhow and somehow, I actually felt better than usual while wearing this pack.
It was so comfortable that I never dreaded putting my pack back on after a rest. I carried ~30 lbs and could it could have handled more. After walking around in a couple airports with this on, I’m considering having this pack be my carry-on in future as it is extremely portable.
I had a friend who bought this pack too, and she said her anti-gravity suspension creaked when she walked. Mine did at first, but after putting weight in it, the creaking went away. The only thing I would change about this pack is the length of the adjustable part of the shoulder straps.
I don’t have much room to tighten the straps when I’ve just gotten them to not be loose. Overall, I consider this pack to be one of the best high-ticket purchasing decisions I’ve made in awhile.
Excellent pack – quality, comfort, carries medium/heavy loads with ease. The AG system/hip belt is extremely comfortable and diverts most of the weight away from shoulders and back to your hips. This makes long days way more comfortable and also grounds centre of gravity quite nicely.
This pack has survived 30 days in the remote Himalayas, travels around East/Central Africa, and week long trips around Canada’s west coast/backcountry. Handles through hiking in the backcountry with cook systems/shelter etc, as well as longer trips between teahouses.
It’s been thrown around buses, airlines, rocky and muddy trails. It is holding up extremely well. I can’t say enough good things about this pack. Note: the AG system, which I love love love, DOES add some extra weight to the pack (which is why this is slightly heavier than others).
IMHO the trade off in terms of weight distribution and stabilization is worth it.

I love this product!! I don’t feel sticky or weighed down. It works very well and it lasted longer than other brands I’ve tried! I reapply an hour after the first application. I’ve never been able to get a tan first.
I usually get a sunburn! This product protects and I continue to tan. It has a wonderful scent too!! I use all their products from sun protection to hand sanitizer!! Thanks for a great product!! I only wish is wasn’t so pricey.
It’s hard to hold down the spray nozzle, when applying onto yourself….

I’ll admit I don’t know too much about this type of shell jacket. I usually wear a heavy commercial fishing style pvc jacket when I’m working and a frogg toggs jacket when I’m backpacking. I also have an old North Face shell that I found in a snow drift, nobody asks me for change when I’m wearing it.
So needless to say I’m really impressed with this shell. I can’t believe how lightweight and packable it is. The pit zips are generous and the material itself seems very breathable. My favorite part is the cut.
I have a long torso and this thing sure does keep rain out of the plumbers crack. The sleeves are long enough that you can gasket your gloves. The torso has an athletic cut, I feel less like a sail flapping in the wind compared to when I wear my other gear.
The pockets look weird, sitting high up on your ribs like cat nipples, but I think they make a lot of sense. They work really well with a pack belt, staying accessible and providing less material to chafe.
It’s a thoughtful design for the outdoorsperson, dissing these pockets is admitting to being an athleisure poser, too delicate for a heavy pack and too self-conscious for sensible cat nipple style gear storage.
This is my go to rain parka. Men’s medium (not the Eco). Great durability, great breathability, pockets are perfect. Pit zips still excellent. This is my family’s 7th. Only issue is weight. I use this for all Colorado 3 season use + short training hikes on the AT.
For the summer AT section hikes (avg ~240 miles) where the AT is not overgrown, w minimal technical needs, I’m using the EE Visp (for weight only) instead of the Marmot Precip. My EE Visp is a 2020 EE Visp, and it doesn’t have pockets (really miss the Precip pockets).
For all Colorado climbing/14er work (Nolan’s 14) I use the Precip. I didn’t choose the Eco Precip (I understand it is great) – an article or two stated the Precip material might be slightly more robust than the Eco Precip’s mtl.
Another great feature of the Precip is, the price & availability. Plus you can get it in several different colors. One con of the Precip jacket is, the internal membrane delaminating after 6 to 8 years of use (really though – that life period, for a $100 to $140 waterproof parka, is hard to beat.

Find your best fit with the Always Liners Fit sizing chart that shows a range of liners for different shapes and needs. Get amazing 3-in-1 protection – feel confident and comfortable every day.
I do like the longer length of these liners, especially between periods or possible leakage days. They work great and this brand is always on point for protection. However, I very dislike the scent. I barely noticed the deodorizing text on the box.
I understood the odor blocker but the smell is overwhelming at times, and also makes me a bit embarrassed or self conscious that someone near me is smelling it too, especially if I’m sweaty or leaking.
Even if I get up from the couch to do something and come back, I worry my husband can smell the scent that doesn’t smell pleasing. If I could get the odor lock/blocking without this particular scent it would be 5/5 for me for sure.
So be mindful when choosing off the shelf, and if you want it to be scented.
I always have light cycles and use liners or pads. Always has been my preferred brand the last 15 years and the quality has been consistent all throughout. These liners are thin enough to not show through leggings (huge plus) and are comfortable.
You can’t even tell it is there! These liners do not shift after putting them in place. They are small and easy to carry (discretely) and soaks up the light spotting/discharge as it should. The best part about these liners is the leak guards in case you misjudge when your cycle becomes a little more intense, Always is there to keep you covered! Great product.
I will always recommend Always products! They are the best of the best.

I like to read labels on everything. I really appreciate the clean non-nano zinc formula. I often mtnbike on trails above 8000′, up to 10,000′ and higher. Yep for fun. haha! Up here UV intensity is beyond belief (definitely need to protect them eyeballs too!) Since it’s a bit on the thicker side, I wet it w/ a little water (from the mouth via hydration pack) in my hands then apply thoroughly.
Ok maybe a little TMI there. It rinses off the hands well enough so putting on my gloves isn’t greasy or weird (useful when hanging on to the handlebars for dear life shifting gears using brakes on absurdly challenging climbs, and then of course, the descents) I won’t suggest anyone else do that but for me it still prevents any signs of sunburn or redness even on those wonderfully high 10,000′ and beyond rides.
Now if only it was also a healing salve for the ‘occasionally rare’ scrapes and bruises haha! The fragrance is mild, and kinda appealing, really nice it’s not perfume-ish thanks for that! Ya sure lavender, jasmine, ylang ylang, amber etc can sometimes be really great scents (and WAY nicer than ‘parfum’ and perfume-ness sometimes wafting off folks) but just not in my all time favorite natural clean, earth friendly, body friendly sunscreen: original thinksport spf 50+.
What did you do??? This was once the best sunscreen I ever used in my life. I been using this for few years and loved. I recently re order this and the formula ingredients have completely changed with all preservatives and no aloe.
I got this formula is I have always used on my face. This time it was oily and made face break out. It has a odd smell that made me feel unsafe to put on and not to mention for the first time I burned real bad after using this sunscreen.
This formula is more oily and thick and less effective not too much less healthy and packed with perseveratives. I am really upset over this because I burn easy with sensitive skin and thought I found a healthy alternative but I have noticed since another corporate takes over these small companies they cut the cost of the healthy ingredients for preservation and toxic.
I used this sunscreen daily and now it’s like I lost a really good thing and will need to find elsewhere. Please go back to original formula!.
My husband and I use this sunscreen on our bodies and he uses it on his face. We are fairly active every day outdoors (walking, cycling, yard work and playing outside with children). We really need a long-lasting, effective sunscreen.
So far, this one has worked well for us! We have been using it for a week or so now, but we haven’t entered the hot days of summer yet. I can’t say yet how it will hold up when we do our outdoor activities on hot days when we are sweating or in the water.
The sunscreen absorbs well into our skin leaving a very faint white tint. After time, it doesn’t seem noticeable. The product doesn’t leave a greasy/oily residue, which is great. We still wash our hands after applying it, since it is a mineral sunscreen and we don’t want to get the white residue on other surfaces/clothing.
The scent is very faint, so it might only be an issue if you are scent-sensitive. Overall, a great new mineral sunscreen for us to use this summer!.

Decent daypack for hiking or day trips. The support provided by the bag is phenomenal, and the number of compartments are great for various storage needs. The slim profile also makes upper body movements unrestricted.
The only con may be that the material is much thinner than I had expected, but I guess that is necessary to reduce the weight of the bag itself. Regardless, the quality and construction are top-notched as typically expected from Mammut.

I received a very small sample but it was enough for me to fall in love. This feels like hydrating skincare, and goes on and sits so beautifully on my dry 49 year old skin. It also worked beautifully under foundation.
I love it. It does have a slight chemical smell, which to me smells more like self tan than SPF. I only had a small sample and used it twice, but didn’t notice any tanning effects on my skin.
This is a lovely sunscreen, really moisturising, lightly fragranced, absorbs quickly and not at all thick or sticky. Used it constantly and it protected my skin perfectly in Majorca and left me with a healthy tan.

When it comes to self-protection, it is important for a woman to be aware of her surroundings at all times. This means being aware of who and what is around her, as well as any potential threats. While it is impossible to be completely aware of everything all the time, it is important to be as vigilant as possible.
This may mean paying attention to your intuition and trusting your gut instinct. If something doesn’t feel right, it is probably best to avoid the situation or person. In addition to being aware of your surroundings, it is also important to have a self-protection plan in place.
This may include carrying a personal alarm, pepper spray, or even a weapon. It is important to find a method of self-protection that makes you feel comfortable and safe.
Trust your instincts
When it comes to self protection, always trust your instincts as a woman. If something feels off or dangerous, it probably is and you should take measures to protect yourself accordingly. This might mean avoiding a certain person or place, being extra alert and aware of your surroundings, or carrying a self defense tool with you.
The most important thing is to listen to your gut and trust your intuition – it will never steer you wrong.
Keep your head up and be aware of who is around you
When walking alone, it is important to keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings. This will help you stay alert and be able to identify potential threats. If you feel like you are being followed, try to move to a well-lit and populated area.
If you are attacked, try to remember as many details about your attacker as possible so that you can provide a description to police.
Be assertive and don’t be afraid to speak up
Being assertive means standing up for yourself and speaking up for yourself in a confident and clear way. It is important to be assertive in order to protect yourself from being taken advantage of or mistreated.
When you are assertive, you are more likely to get what you want and to be respected by others. Assertiveness is not the same as being aggressive; it is simply being confident and clear in what you say and do.
If you are a woman, it is especially important to be assertive in order to protect yourself from discrimination and harassment.
Keep your hands free and be able to defend yourself
The best way to keep your hands free and be able to defend yourself is to take a self-defense class. In a self-defense class, you will learn how to effectively use your body to defend yourself against an attacker.
You will also learn how to identify potential threats and how to avoid them.
Be aware of what you’re carrying and how it can be used as a weapon
There are a few things to keep in mind when considering using your personal belongings as weapons for self-defense. First, be aware of what you are carrying and how it can be used as a weapon. For example, a purse can be used to hit an attacker or to hold personal belongings that can be used as improvised weapons, such as keys, pens, or even a cell phone.
Second, be sure to use whatever you have as a weapon in the most effective way possible. Hitting an attacker with a purse may not be as effective as using a key or pen to stab them. Finally, be aware of your surroundings and be sure to use whatever you have to defend yourself if necessary.
Be aware of potential escape routes
A woman should always be aware of potential escape routes for self protection. This means being aware of exits in buildings, knowing how to get out of a car quickly, and being aware of surroundings when walking or running.
If a woman is ever in a situation where she feels unsafe, she should have a plan to get to safety.
