20 Best Ripstik For 10 Year Old (2023 Updated)

After 11 years I found one of these online. The original sales pitch I remember for the Ripstik was that it would help teach you how to surf. It does, and it certainly helped me back in the day. This device is so much fun to ride.

Revolutionary and more manueverable than a skateboard. However, there is no viable braking system. I recently crashed around 35mph. I can confirm these board can handle intense speeds, but there is no safe way to brake, and flying into the intersection was not an option for me.

Thankfully I am mostly okay thanks to my own coordination and ability to bail. I’ve taken to carrying a straight cane and dragging it along the asphalt to slow down, like some Mad Max Villiain flying down the road.

They need to engineer some way to break. You can’t just put the tip of your shoe off the edge of the board like a skateboard either. Simply isn’t that safe to use. Still love it though.

My daughter absolutely loves this ripstick. The neighbor kids have a small one for little kids and she enjoyed playing on it so I got her this full size one and she was so excited when she opened the box I thought she was going to pass out hyperventilating.

I got her the pink one as no one on the block has a pink one or a full size one. She said its so much smoother and faster than the small ones and she rides on it every day. I think she is finely losing some weight as well.

Very happy with this board.

My parents bought me one of these way back in 2008 (back when this was just simply a “RipStik”) and, despite that RipStik being 13 years old at this point, and its rider being an adult now, that RipStik keeps on ripping just like it did out of the box.

Razor seems to have slightly changed the design of the axles on the newer ones (I like mine so much, I bought an alternate for when I wear out the wheels on one and need to order more!), but it’s the same quality RipStik we know and love.

My boys love a ripstick. Its completely different from a skateboard. It has two wheels down the middle and you have to have complete balance. You have to use your legs and upper body to keep it in motion.

Its a workout but a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Its well made and last years. This is our second one so they dont have to take turns. My boys have made every boy in our neighborhood love these.

Any person that likes a skateboard and a challenge I would definitely recommend this too. Tip for a first timer make sure you are on a flat pebble free surface. A pebble can take you down quick if you dont know what your doing.

I loved the Razor Ripstik Ripster!! (I am 14 years old and i weigh 130 pounds for reference. ) Ive only ridden my friends and it was amazing! The smaller size of the Ripster made it really easy to ride and move around with.

I learned to ride completely in 15 minuets tops. I also know how to ride a skateboard so that probably helped. Stopping the a ripstik can be scary at first but just try turning around to slow down and do not take your feet off of the board.

This board is great for flat ground but going up hills is extremely hard. And going down hills is super scary and getting up to speed on these things is not fun. I love this product and would highly recommend this to anyone willing to try it! It is incredibly fun to ride and I absolutely love it which is why I’m getting one for myself here very soon.

I have not bought one yet as of June 23rd 2020. 5/5 stars.

I have tried one that is not mine and I want one so I bought one. It is hard to figure out how to get on it and moving at first but after a while you get the hang of it. I can ride it down hill and straight but I can only go a few inches up hill until I lose balance.

But now that I have my own I can ride it whenever and just practice at getting good. The one that is not mine had been in the garage for a while and hasnt been picked up by owner since I had been riding it.

So I might end up with 2. I do recommend these if you want to learn how to ride one it is fun to ride.

The rip stick is perfect!! But it is heavy and was shipped in a large flimsy box with no padding to stop it from flopping around! The outer box was completely open and the inner rip stick packaging was completely ripped and torn away from the rip stick!! This was a gift! It should have been packaged more carefully!!!.

I got this as a gift for my 11 year old son. This thing is GREAT! It is really so much fun. I enjoy it was well lol. It is easy to ride once you get the hang of it. It took me a few times to feel totally comfortable on it but my son got right on and took off fine his first time on it.

The battery lasted for awhile, long enough for us each to take it around the block 3 times plus just playing around in the yard on it. This was by far his favorite gift. I highly recommend this, its so much fun!.

As a woman in her later 20s, I have no idea how my little nieces and nephews can do anything in this thing! But, when I was able to maneuver it better I had just as much fun trying as they did riding it!.

I have ridden these for awhile and they’re so much fun but I struggled learning but once you get it down its literally so much fun.

I love this skateboard! My daughter (7) asked for this board after seeing a kid on it in the park and trying it out for 10 minutes. She is a very girly-girl but this skateboard really attracted her. She learned quickly and rides it all the time.

I think it has built confidence in her to be more outgoing. LOVE this board. AND ACADEMY HAS THE CHEAPEST PRICE ON LINE>TRUST ME I SEARCHED EVERYWHERE!.

During covid we took up learning how to rip stick. Our family ages that tried were 9,12 34 36. It is a blast! It takes balance and core strength and makes for a great work out! My only complaint is the wheels wore quicker than expected after riding on concrete and asphalt.

I’ll be buying another as my children grow!!.

I am obsessed with ripstiking. Me and my friends ride around on ’em all the time and it is just. SO FUN. I just learned to ride one this year, I am 14, and I wish I learned it earlier. I cannot recommend it more.

These things are for riding around and having fun! You can take them to the skate park or just ride street. But if you want to do tricks or anything like that, I would recommend the Ripstik Air. It is way lighter than these monsters.

Bought a regular RipStik at a toy store for 8 year old grandson for his birthday after his skateboard was run over in the garage and damaged. He and his older brother absolutely loved the RipStik. Ordered this DLX RipStik from WalMart as early birthday present for older 12 year old grandson so they both could ride them.

The DLX cost a little more but maybe has better hardware in wheels and hopefully will last longer and may be a little smoother ride. Both grandsons love using the caster boards. These boards were a big hit with the boys.

This the first Razor product I have ever used. Just got it a couple days ago, and rode it for the first time today. Keep in mind I’m almost 40. Having surfed for years, and skated a little years ago, I instantly loved the idea.

So I looked online, and couldn’t find one ANYWHERE. So I signed up for email notification, and waited. After a month or so of waiting (don’t know if this is typical or not), I finally got an email that they were in stock at one of Razor’s retail partners.

So I immediately went online to buy one. By the time I had checked my email that day around noon, one color was already sold out. By the end of the day they were GONE. Never having used a RIPSTICK, I was unsure what to expect.

After remembering a KEY comment I had read online, it made a little more sense. It is a little different than surfing, in that you use your front foot for stability, and maneuver using your back foot.

At least to get momentum. Once you have some momentum, you can do deeper carves more like you would surfing. By the end of the day, I was able to use it a little more comfortably, and not fall so much.

BOTTOM LINE: SOOO much fun! Worth the wait. Sing up for email notification, and get one.

As a rider of ripstiks for nearly a decade, I thought I would instantly master the Ripsurf. This was not the case. Although the Ripsurf can be challenging, it makes it that much more rewarding to ride.

the design stays true to the Ripstik while adding a few practical additions like better grip, lightweight, and its aesthetics. However, it does have its issues like the traction pad gets very dirty very quickly and is difficult to clean, it cannot turn on a dime like other ripstiks due to being on sold piece, and it can be uncomfortable to carry in hand due to all the grip bumps and bottom ridges.

The only major issue for me is how ,due to the long front part, it can be difficult or impossible to go directly up and down ramps forcing you to go at an angle. Despite not being the perfect product, the Ripsurf is still as much if not more fun than the other ripstiks.

The looks and features definitely make it stand out more than any other ripstik/casterboard on the market. Overall, I believe the Ripsurf is a fantastic product worthy of being a successor to the Ripstik that surfers, skaters, or anyone interested will enjoy.

My son has several skateboards and a razor scooter and has been wanting one of these Razor Ripstik Mini`s for awhile now. Luckily, I was sent a free sample to use for this review. So far after 10 days of using it, he LOVES it.

Right when he opened it, he loved the electric blue color. A big plus about this Ripstik is there was NO assembly required. That was a giant relief to my husband and I because we didn`t have to worry about missing parts or trying to understand difficult assembly instructions.

My son loves that it`s similar to riding a skate board, except that it`s flexible and `bends` so to speak. It enables him to not have to pedal with his foot like on his skateboard, but simply sway back and forth to get it going.

Don`t let the word `mini` fool you. This is a decent size, similar to a skateboard and allows room for both of his feet to be on it with the correct amount of spacing between where your feet go to make it a comfortable, natural stance.

The Ripstik is made of durable plastic that does not seem cheap or that it will break easy. It`s tough plastic, but yet gives for the movement when he is riding it. The plastic seems like it will be durable and last through many years of your typical rough boy playing.

I would definitely recommend this item to friends and family.

The Razor Ripstik Mini Blue is a fun product for those who are new and even experienced. It is somewhat easy to ride in terms of balance. I learned on a regular skateboard and the rip stick is a little different.

Once you get the balance down, tricks are pretty easy like flips, slides on rails, and others. The ripstick is a little different than a regular skateboard. It is a little lighter and the board is thin in the middle which takes some time to get used to.

I think the weight is under 5 lbs so totally easy to carry but strong enough to crack after some tricks. The Ripstick is pretty durable. Doesn’t scratch too easily and can take falls pretty well. The design is really nice and most kids will like it.

No assembly required for kids who want to just riding out of the box. For larger riders, not sure this is the product for you. Anyone under 140 pounds who can do basic tricks, ride away. For those more experienced and bigger people like 180 or more, the original ripstick might be better.

Overall I liked the ride and the ability and durability to do tricks was great.

I received the Ripstick free to try out. I was quit reluctant because no one in my home can ride a traditional skateboard & frankly I didn’t need an ER visit. After several days of playing with it inside the house & non-stop pleading by my 9 year old son to allow him to try it, we headed outside.

My son has what I call “Bambi legs” meaning he is very clumsy and prone to falling. So I outfitted him with full gear, elbow, knee pads, & helmet. We started out with him holding my hands & learning to balance.

In no time (less than 15 minutes) this kid was on his own wheeling down the street!! I admit we watched a You-tube video of another child on a Ripstick to learn how to maneuver & it helped tremendously.

I was really surprised how quickly he was able to get the hang of this thing. It’s all in the back foot movement. We have been using it for a month now & it seems to be holding up very well. This is major considering my son is ROUGH on toys! He’s had a couple falls, but nothing major & I am really comfortable with him using it now.

The wheels seem to be holding up well too even though he usually rides it in the street. The best part is my bookworm gets a good workout several days a week!.

My kids were really excited about this- they are 14 and 10 and this easily works for both ages. The ripstick was ready to use straight from the pacakge- just ipen up and it’s ready to roll! Lights automatically turn on while in motion, both the wheels and the standing board.

This did take some getting used to. My kids already skateboard, so they had the basics down. The board flexes and you must move both feet and almost inch it like a caterpillar. This definitely takes more more work than a skateboard, but once you get the motion down, it’s a blast! The added light features are my favorite, and it makes keeping an eye on your kids so much easier! This thing is solid, durable and extremely well made.

Kids are tough on everything, and I see this lasting for years to come. Highly recommend the ripstick for kids of all ages that want something new outside!.

The RipStik Rush is pretty serious! It’s like riding the scooters without the handle. Like rollerblades on steroids. The front wheel is thicker than the rear wheel and it’s heavier than a regular skateboard.

it does not have 4 wheels, the RipStik has a total of 2 wheels. It is not like a hover board that you stand forward and ride. It is like a skateboard with one leg in front and the other in back. Once you get going, the way you turn is to tilt your foot forward or back on your heal.

You need to try to balance to stay straight. It is easy to get going. The remote starts working the motor once you get a little momentum (3 mph) going so it doesn’t just take off on you. It can go pretty fast and fishtail.

It really is a lot like snow boarding or wakeboarding! it’s actually pretty exhilarating when you master it! The remote helps stop in a slow steady pace and doesn’t just slam on the brakes but still, be gentle.

I do recommend wearing all of your protective gear but especially a helmet! Considering this thing does get some really good speed at 10 mph, you don’t want to risk it. Knee pads and elbow pads are a must for me too.

It isn’t for a beginner however if you don’t want to use the motor, the best part about this thing is that it will still work without activating the motor. If the battery dies, you can still ride it.

If you’re still learning, don’t use the motor. It’s really that easy. There is a power button that you need to push in order for the motor to activate. Don’t push it if you don’t wish to use the motor.

It lights up red when activated. The only thing is during the daylight hours, it is hard to tell if the light is on or not. Even cupping my hands over it, I could barely tell if it was lit up. It does come with the charger which refreshingly is not a usb plug! When fully charged I believe the run time on the motor is 40 minutes or more.

Again, if the battery for the motor dies, the board itself still works! The 2 aaa batteries for the remote were included. The remote stores on the side of the board so you won’t lose it between uses.

All in all, I do recommend this product. Again, it is not a beginner board but experienced riders will love this board!.

Ya know, I thought there was no chance it would work as well as I want it to. I’m in my 30’s and 160lb- This toy isn’t made for me. But I wanted to try it. I can always return it, right? It seriously works! I’m sure it would go faster for a smaller human, but it goes about as fast as I’m comfortable going while riding it! It’s not light- but it’s not that heavy either.

The finish is lovely, ease of use is a cakewalk, assuming you know how to ride a casterboard. I expected to be disappointed by the board, now I’m only disappointed I can’t find any other 30 somethings who want to ride.

The board its self looks neat compared to a regular skateboard. This a definitely a bit different. There is a weight limit on this board of 143lbs which makes this more for smaller kids. This rides moves smoothly and turns nicely just wouldn’t go down a hill with it again.

Lol It takes a while to fully charge but battery seems to last long time especially if your not constantly using it. As for the remote if you like to ride it powered goes around 10 mph which doesn’t seem that fast but it is.

Lucky you do have options in which to slow it down and even come to a stop. The younger kids seem to enjoys playing with it. Definitely worth getting one if you have kids who love skateboarding.

Bought this for my 11yr old’s birthday. he’s thrilled and rides it every chance he can get. Requires skill, and good for balance & core strength. And quiet on our courtyard pave stones so doesn’t disturb our neighbours! Only downside is the colour – he’d rather not this one but okay given I got it on sale.

My sister got this for her birthday and is absolutely in love!! When her and her friends go out to play they always tend to drift towards these boards because they’re fun to ride and great excercise since the kids have to move their body to keep it going! However, make sure your kids always wear the appropriate protection because if they’re riding to the park and hit a crack they could fall and really injure themselves!!.

Discovered for a reasonable price from Goodwill. It was helpful because I wouldn’t know what 10mph on a Ripstick feels like. Upon inspecting the components, I saw the wheels have cast aluminum hubs. Carries momentum like a champ!.

I have owned 2 of these. The first one was the grind and I loved it they are a little tricky to get used to but once you do you can jump right on! I ended up giving it way bc I kind of out grew it as an adult.

Then I came across another one it’s not the grind version but it brought back memories. So I still own one and will pass this one down to my son.

We were able to change the old wheels for these new ones quickly and easily! It was nice that the Allen wrench was included. I used gloves so I could apply more pressure when loosening the bolts on the old wheels.

I chose site-to-store delivery and they were at my store in less than a week! The kids are riding all over the house til the snow melts–so fun!!!.

I bought this about a week ago from target and the wheels broke apart and fell off. Now I have to buy new wheels that cost about 1/4 of the dipstick itself. I would like new wheels for it but until then I am a sad ripstick lover.
