I bought this for use on my Cobra replica. With the amount of custom/amateur wiring I wanted an extra safeguard against fire. It sees long idle periods too so eliminating parasitic circuits helps keep the battery charged too.

This works very well on both counts. I mounted it out of sight near the battery in the trunk and wired the solenoid to a switch on the dash. The car is running a 427 LS3 stroker with 11. 7:1 compression ratio, break-in oil and a gear-reduction MSD starter motor.

All charging and starting amps are running through the solenoid. The install kit was complete, but I changed the switch to one with a safety cover to make it easy to slap the solenoid off in case of emergency.

Super easy to install, had zero issues. Instructions are easy to follow and all the hardware is included. The only thing i suggest is making sure you have something the crimp the terminal lugs. I just muscled it and used vise grips, I will go back and re-crimp once I get the tool.

Worked opposite to the way it should have right out of the box. There was continuity with the trigger not pulled and it disconnected the circuit when trigger was pulled. Shortly there after it stopped working altogether.

The actual trigger switch felt very crunchy and poor. The item I received was a cheap product and did not t work from day one.

My dad had a home made version, saw this one, thought it was cool for bumping over the motor for valve adjustments, lasted exactly 6 crank cycles two minutes apart. Then the switch inside melted. Starter is fine, key works fine.

This is cheap quality. Disappointed.

I liked the trigger type switch but the alligator clips are worthless. The metal of the clips is easily bent and too compress the clips (too open) is near impossible. The spring of the clips is misaligned and I had to use a pair of pliers to open them.

I have cut them off and replaced with a better set.

Very nice universal kill switch. I was unsure of which style kill switch I needed either normally open or normally close this switch dose both. Im happy I installed it for safety reasons. Product looks like it will last a long time.

I purchased two. One for an outboard and one for an I/O. Very simple to install with normally open and normally closed contacts. They work very well for an inexpensive switch.

I can’t say enough good about this remote switch. I only wished I had know it existed earlier. I had already purchased a high amperage ignition relay (300 amp) and had built a circuit to toggle off/on the main positive battery wire connected to my inverter.

This was connected to my older 1000 watt inverter. I had a remote on/off switch to toggle the position of the ignition relay contacts. Two negative issues with this configuration. The ignition relay itself, when engaged, drew more amperage off my batteries than I liked.

I run off solar so any any battery drain is up for elimination. The second issue with my ignition relay configuration was the cost to build it. When you take into account the cost for the Relay, Battery cable wire and copper lugs, lighter gauge wire to run to a remote switch, the remote switch and mounting hardware, a fused link for the ignition relays low amperage servo circuit.

you are looking at a cost of materials in the $150 range. After I installed this and knew it worked, I removed my ignition relay setup. The Xantrex Remote switch is a welcomed addition for me. For under $30 you get everything I originally built, and without the additional battery drain.

A “no brainer” just comparing the cost of under $30, to $150. Plus it is “Plug & Play! This is only an on/off switch with an indicator light. No meter display capability. I wouldn’t want to pay the higher cost of having a meter display in this accessory as some suggest.

Most people running batteries have some type of meter already. I do, and mounted this switch right next to my remote battery meter. I can read volts, amps, and % Battery Capacity. Adding a display to this simple cost effective switch would probably up the cost beyond what many would pay.

I have a system to operate a sump pump incase the utility power is off due to thunder storms, that’s usually when we loose power. I have a Xantrex SW 2000 watt powered by an AGM 75 AMP-Hr battery. I designed a transfer circuit to switch from utility power to the inverter and from the inverted back to utility power.

The kicker is there must be a delay in transferring from one power source to the other, especially if the sump pump is operating at the time, I learned this the hard way. One feature I wanted to have is to minimize the power required to operate the system when utility power is present.

I started out with the inverter running all the time. The problem with this the power required to maintain the battery, typically 8 watts. I designed a circuit to turn on the inverter when the utility power fails.

The inverter supplies 12 volts to the transfer circuit which then transfers the inverter power to the load. The remote indicates the inverter is on and when utility power returns, the remote enables me to turn off the inverter.

When utility power is present, power required is only 3. 7 watts. I use a 10 watt solar panel to keep the battery fully charged, requiring no power from the utility! I’m not green, only tight!.

My power inverter is tucked away in the back of my van, and this switch is mounted inside the van’s wall panel. I’m able to manually turn on my inverter whenever I need power to work inside my van. The switch does what it’s supposed to.

– The button has to be held down for 1 full second to either turn on or turn off the inverter. This is a good feature (or “feature”) because it makes it a little less likely to accidentally operate the switch.

– The button is recessed, which is yet another feature that makes it harder to accidentally press the switch. – It has a green LED that tells you if your inverter is on. – It would be nice if this panel also has a LCD display telling you the voltage.

I’m talking about the same LCD display that’s already on most inverters themselves. That’s OK, I mounted a separate voltage display next to this panel. – This panel is smaller than a typical house light switch panel.

Retro Fit 1980 Evinrude outboard 140 hp I like it has a second circuit. I need the off when tether’d for grounding the high voltage ignition upon tether disconnect. I’m using the switch’s second circuit which is on when tethered to power an led indicator light next to the kill switch so I know when it’s connected correctly and the ignition is on!.

This was what I needed while refurbishing the pontoon boat I recently bought. I needed to replace the throttle, in part because the kill switch on it was not working. My new throttle did not have a kill switch, so I bought this.

It was easy to install and works well.

Wholesale Marine has a countdown clock on their website for “order cut off time” but there is a delay in the system. Their cut off time is 4:00 pm and I order something at 3:49 pm (confirmation email received) with next day shipping.

I did not receive the deliver the next day so I called to find out why. The customer service rep said the order was not show received on his end until 4:11 pm. That is a 22 minute delay which seems like a long time if they are going to have a countdown clock.

Other than that the part was exactly what I needed and customer service rep offered a full refund if I wanted it.

My car suffered from a parasitic power drain. This device cured the problem and meant that the battery was preserved. It was easy to fit but I needed to buy an additional battery cable to do so. One issue is that its possible to disconnect the battery while driving with this device.

If your alternator is ok the car will run but the current to the fuse box will be cut meaning all ancillaries including electronics are cut. This could severe damage the car or even cut the power steering etc.

There is no warning about this. So- this is effective- it works but there are limitations. Fearing that the remote might fail I also bought a generic copy and cloned it to avoid being stuck. As a further precaution I have jump start cables so that in an emergency I can bypass the device totally.

Works well BUT if you don’t “lock” it (activating the kill switch), the unit continues to drain your car battery just to hold the solenoid in the “unlock” position. It drains about 0. 5 Amps. Left for a weekend in “unlock”, I came back to a dead car battery.

Unit is larger than anticipated. Not compact.

i fitted the remote battery switch a week ago, not sure that i could over ride the alarm system and central locking system. to set it. i stop the engine, while sitting inside the car i lock the doors using the button on the inside of the drivers door (this does not set the alarm unlike the button on the key fob).

i then get out of the car and manually lock the drivers door with the key. so the key cover is permanently off the car now. check the door are locked and walk away.

Very well built and Sturdy to place into my Hot Rod hidden to Insure no Battery drainage and hRD FOR SOMWONE TO STEAL Vehicle with the Switch hidden.

This switch is able to handle the starting current and also give me the security that I can power down the vehicle from outside.

quality is bad , brand new first time on the track the first lap went out no racing for me but cost me $90 for entry fees , not to race,, took it home looked it over could not find a problem, second week its another $90 and the same dam thing !!!!!!!!!!!! but i see no lights so touch the switch powers up ,i let go and its dies!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am not happy $180 on entry fees and NO RACING.

Pretty good piece here. Upgraded to this unit to isolate the alternator installed on the racecar. Super easy to work with and came with all necessary hardware

Took about 15 seconds to install since I’m already running a solderless emg 81. Solved my problem perfectly, I use it to instantly kill my super high gain signal mid song and to let my noise gate clamp down quickly to avoid feedback whenever I don’t want it without having to set the threshold so high it destroys picking dynamics and sustain.

Easy peasy. It took longer to unscrew the cavity cover than to add this switch. For perfectly in the hole left from the 3 way switch I removed when I went to one pickup.

Exactly as described. Fits into my wiring harness for a P Bass with EMG Geezer Butler pickups in less than a minute. Only complaint is that 50% of the time the switch makes an audible click sound through the pickups.

That may go away if I reshield my pickguard.

Good quality strong switch, I wouldn’t use it on a race car (plastic and a bit light), I would use steel- but for regular battery shut off it will work fine. I like the cover over the key hole. It could use a lanyard for the key, I made one out of light cable I would recommend this switch.

I used this switch to shut off power to wheelchair ramp on my van, well install is simple enough switch worked for almost a week and a half. The switch failed while in the on position which caused a no power to my ramp trapping me inside my van luckily my friend was able to jump the switch for me to get out of van, after checking with a DVOM internal switch is in open position so no power to the opposite terminal tried other key so key not the issue just a cheaply made switch.

Oh the system I have it in is a 20 amp max load. I can’t recommend this switch.

My 96 Dodge has 3 wires going to the Negative Terminal. I bought a short 16 battery cable, cut it in half, soldered the terminals to attach to the switch, attached one end to the negative battery terminal the other to the end connection of the existing terminal.

Works like a champ. Never connect the switch to the positive cable, this could spark and cause trouble. The switch ended my draining down battery problem.

It is pretty well made, and has a nice action, but it just will not carry the rated current. At 125A there is a 0. 128V drop across the switch. This results in enough heat to soften the plastic and create a considerable smell.

For intermittent use, the switch is fine, and would likely survive the stated 300A for a few seconds.

Well made product at a reasonable price. I think most battery kill switches are made using the same switch. The front plate looks good and the handle is well made. I like knowing how many are in stock on the product page of their website.

Needed a battery disconnect switch for my ’96 Bronco that kept burning through batteries. Ordered this one and had my mechanic install it. Works great and looks great, too!

I install these switches in many of our customers classic cars. The switch can be mounted anywhere you can imagine and they are easy to use. The switch can be mounted with or with out the indicator plate.

It seems that this switch has been assembled with good products and should last a long time. However, it would be much better with the Voltage regular shut down circuitry incorporated. Looks are very appealing.

Mounted battery in trunk in an enclosed Mr Gasket box. Cant open box easy, so this is best solution. Sturdy switch. Should have a notch that keeps switch from rotating within the face plate. But tightening the nuts wayyy tight, it holds still.

Im happy with it. Mounted it in a 3. 5 inch deep plastic electric junction box.

Seems to be a good unit. The bracket and linkage parts are plenty stout. The switch needs to be mounted just right for smooth push-pull. I drilled right thru my taillight and the inside hole had to be big to allow for the swivel of the arm.

I welded a couple of 1/2” bolts to the truck floor and used a nut under and on top of the bracket.

Previous owner did massive changes to entire electrical system, including an alarm system. Have a voltage leak and no time to tear out the dash and rewire back to stock. with this switch, I just kill the battery, preventing dead battery until I can fix this over the winter.

I will leave it installed for theft protection.

Great product, except the arm was installed 180* off with the set screw on the round part of the shaft rather than the machined flat. Tried to use a puller and it still won’t pull it off.
