Some common features that many women look for in cycling shoes include a comfortable fit, good support, and adequate ventilation. Additionally, many women prefer shoes that are specifically designed for cycling, as these often provide better performance and support than regular shoes.
Features of the Shimano Women’s RC502 Bike Shoe Mesh/TPU and Synthetic leather material covered Upper in optimized part to provides comfortable Fit and light weight. Surround wrapping Upper structure reduces overlap and provides a glove-like Fit.
Integrated seamless Midsole and Upper construction set a new level of Fit, stability and lightweight Performance. BOA L6 dial on instep strap quickly and comfortably secures a wide range of foot shapes.
Carbon fiber reinforced nylon Midsole for power transfer. Womens specific last for a natural, comfortable Fit. Low stack height Midsole helps stabilize foot, maximizes power transfer and efficiency.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageComing from a pair of the superb Shimano RP9 shoes I thought these would be a simple case of buy, wear, forget. I read lots of reviews and went for the wide fit on the basis of them being narrow by standard (again odd for Shimano).
I also ordered the older RC701 for comparison. The 701 were immediately comfortable and well padded, but the fit was a bit non articulate. The stack height on the 701 is a lot higher, whereas the 702 is more like my older RP9, so the saddle height would have to be messed with (I wish they’d publish stack height measurements with shoes).
The 702 don’t feel as obviously comfortable when trying on and it took me a while to get the Boa tightness right. First rides with the 702 weren’t great and I had knee pain and hot foot. Then it dawned on me, the insoles are like flat bits of cardboard! No arch support at all! When you get the 702, order some Specialized BG Footbeds to put straight in.
Blue or green are the ones to go for. I have a normal arch but find the green fine (walking in the house felt awful with the metatarsal button, but awesome on the bike). Now these shoes work well. Unimpressed with Shimano.
They’ve clearly tried to keep the price of this shoe at a certain point but the quality has suffered. The RP9 came with customisable foot beds and they are important. If you remember to try with proper foot beds, these shoes are pretty good.
If you can’t be bothered, just buy the 701. TLDR 5 star shoes lost a star because of useless insoles. Replace and they’re good, but end up as ÂŁ200 shoes.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageMy Shimano Men’s RC5 Wide Road Cycling Shoes were delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the Eur 42 size Wide-Large (US 8. 3). I removed my old 3-screw cleat and reattached it on the RC5 without any issues and adjusted them to a position, according to my pedaling style.
Shoe fit was spot-on, the “Wide” really made a difference in comfort. I initially went to an REI store and tried the “normal” (Non-Wide 42) and the fit was tight. They did not have the Wide, so I had to order them from the REI Coop store.
I was lucky to get it at a Labor Day sale, but technically, the shoe with the Boa dial laces gave the shoe a nice snug fit. It would have been nice to have a 2nd Boa dial for the front portion of the shoe, but it had velco (which as sufficient).
I typically ride approximately 120-150 miles/week, but only use this Road Cycling Shoes for about 50-miles of the ride. So, far after a few weeks, the shoes perform well. I would recommend this shoe for any cyclist that have “wide” foot (I normally wear a EE shoe).
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageLovely comfy shoes. I have a problem in getting performance bike shoes as I float around 48/49. These shoes are very well finished, and true to size. They fit the same as Lake Cx 238, or Sidi 49.
Generous in the forefoot, flexible material that does conform to the shape of the foot, but not too stretchy. Sole stiffness is up there with shoes double the price, amd adjustability of cleat positioning very useful, especially if you like a more rearwards postion.
Boas are the only sensible option for me, only downside id they fitted the cheapy single direction ones. For about ÂŁ1 at manufacturing, they could have fitted the dual directional ones. However, brilliant if you have trouble finding larger shoes.
Classic freeride style and proven flat pedal performance. The adidas Five Ten Freerider Primeblue Mountain Bike Shoes offer legendary pedal control and recycled materials that raise the bar for sustainability.
Stealth rubber and a Dotty tread keep your feet firmly planted on the pedals. The right blend of casual style transitions easily off the bike. This product is made with Primeblue, a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic.
50% of the upper is textile, 75% of the textile is Primeblue yarn. No virgin polyester.
Purchased in November 2021 and received in December, Red/Mesa in size 10 (normally a size 10 in most shoes). I’ve only really used it for 1 full wet enduro ride. Having come from tradition mid-height skate shoes, these are fairly close to a mid-shoe.
I have fairly flat feet and the shoe fit a little narrow in the arch area but toe box is quite spacious. I’m finding that my feet are punching out the arch area of the shoe. Length is fairly accurate however if not a bit on the longer side.
I found the grip to be adequate but not great with Composite Deity Compound flats. I struggled with the grip in the middle of the pedal and feet moved around quite a bit more than expected, however it was slightly better than the average skate shoe.
Pedal feel was low however the shoe is not quite broken in yet. I’m hoping for a little more flex to better feel the pedals. I knew that the Red/Mesa colour wouldn’t stay that way for long and within the first ride the inner side of the shoe was made black from crank rub, mostly on the drive side.
Looking forward to a few more rides to get a better feel for these shoes and will try a different set of pedals to see if it makes any difference!.
I am surprised that five ten have not fixed their women’s sizing issue. or when Adidas took them over, they didn’t match to regular shoe sizing. I bought these for my daughter and she is a standard 9.
These arrived, she tried them on, and they are huge. And not only in length but the body as well. I can not see anything women specific with these, except for the turquoise colour. But they didn’t even shrink it and pink it.
They got the sizing incorrect. I remembered the same thing happened when I bought mine about 5 years ago. I am a solid 8, but they were too big, so I returned them for a 7. I never wear a 7. These shoes last and are great quality and I love my pair.
They are the best brand out there. But the women’s sizing is wrong and I would hope that they would build a shoe for women that were slightly narrow, maybe lighter, and a smaller compartment, so it actually fit a “typical” women’s foot which is smaller and thinner.
If you are a women and you fit these shoes well, why do we need a specific shoe? Just buy the unisex one. Unless the colour outline is that important to you.
Giro’s Ranger Cycling Shoe fills a new middle-ground in the mountain biking shoe line-up. With a shape and visual construction that likens it more closely to Giro’s elite level Sector shoe, the Ranger confidently moves away from the sneaker-inspired cycling shoe.
Using trickle-down tech from the Sector and Rincon, the Ranger receives a durable one-piece Synchwire upper and a strong nylon and rubber outsole. Perhaps the only cost-saving measure seen on the Ranger may be the triple hook-and-loop strap closures instead of the BOA dial found on the Rincon.
However, given that these strap-style closures are still used in the upper echelons of cycling shoes, the Ranger is designed to provide high-performance at a lower cost. Giro equips the Ranger for long treks across mountainous terrain with a comfortable midsole and heel/toe reinforcements that take the trail hits for you.
Since the sole is made of nylon instead of carbon, bike-hiking and creek crossing is much easier to perform. Two-bolt compatibility matches most of the major pedal company offerings for off-road systems, and pre-drilled holes for toe-spikes are ready to help with cyclocross run-ups, and early-spring trail rides with heavy snowmelt.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageThe fit is right on (HV+), nothing rubs and the boa tightening system works as advertised (very well). I have large ankle bones that tend to rub on other shoes, but Giro has a low enough profile under the ankle to eliminate this problem.
No hot-spots and plenty of room without being sloppy. The soles are very stiff, and probably would not be comfortable for walking long distances. However, I rode a 64-mile XC ride with these shoes on a MTB and had no discomfort in my feet.
No blisters, no hot-spots, no nothing. I pretty much forgot about them and they never reminded me they were there. I only had about 5 hours on them before I did this ride, too, so break-in is very quick (and may not even be needed).
On the negative side, they’re not especially light, and the insoles are generic (no arch support or inserts), so upgrade (Empire) if you are concerned with these attributes. For the money, these are good shoes.

Product Details
The Freerider is a classic in the Five Ten lineup and these Women’s Freerider Canvas MTB Cycling Shoes continue the tradition of unrivalled comfort and unshakeable grip for mountain biking. The laid-back style also looks as good off the bike as it does on the trails.
So where does the classic status come from? For starters, you have the Stealth S1 Dotty rubber outsole. The combination of sticky rubber and the instantly recognisable Dotty tread give you unmatched security on your pedals.
This gives the confidence to go full-speed ahead on any trail. And if you’re pushing back up the hill to re-ride a trail feature, this sole unit offers tenacious all-terrain grip off the bike too. With their medium-flex midsole, you’ll also find pedalling sections can be ticked off with ease while on rowdy downhill trails you’ve got fabulous foot support as you move and manoeuvre your bike over ever-changing terrain.
With their full canvas upper, the Freeriders are also made to revel in the rough and tumble world of mountain biking. While tough, they’re kind too, having been made from Parley Ocean Plastic, they’re helping towards reducing ocean waste.
And with their ever-reliable lace closure, you’ll always get a secure feel. Pull-on. Lace-up. Go shred. Primeblue Sustainability Tackling plastic waste is a vitally important environmental issue and since 2012 adidas have been pushing to remove the use of virgin plastics in sportswear.
adidas Primeblue is the result; a high-performance material derived in part from Parley Ocean Plastic – upcycled plastics intercepted on beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, removing pollution from our oceans.

IĆĄverstiShow in original languageFantastic shoe, just needs Lots of trial and error to dial in the fit Not as good as the previous model 901 IMO which i purchased here and tried this model out through Mantel.
My 2nd phalange joint, 2 toe, rubs on the stiffer material, where a front Velcro strap would be but the shape now gives more support so your toes aren’t flapping upwards. Not a problem i have with SIdi, Fizik or spezialized but a result of the flat Dynalast.
An already snug fit in the mid sole width of 901 is now tighter, and the heel is super grippy but i think that would be a gewöhnheits thing. Mantel’s guide is a good start for fitting size. they tend to give about 3or 4 mm extra as what you need so the shimano tend to be a a half size shorter than specialized, or FZIK so a 47 in spezialized would be 47.
5 in S-Phyre. I take SIdi 48 (2010 model)and these S-phyres have more room in size 48 in toe box. i can fit a 47 in Specialized or R1 FIzik (JUST) Dynalast: Jeez are they flat!!! what that means however is a better peddling action getting over top dead center.
however the bigtoe does tend to work more, and be prepared for a lot of trial and error with the Insole, which with the 2 height inserts are significantly better than FIZIK or Spezialized. I ended up adding a little to the toe are of the Insole to give a little bit more curve, punched holes for breathing, and fashioned a proper metatarsal button, and used specialized Vagus wedges ( Orange) to increase the supination.
As I said they are the flattest but the power transer is really very good. be also prepared for calf pains ( went away) and hotspots till you get a decent button fitted. They are a bit ‘Road Buzzy’ but moving the cleats back and forth did help and sanding the Insole underneath my right Big toe (like with Solestar)reduced the Buzz a tad more that i was feeling there.
Great shoe, but give time for dialing in, hense 4 stars. Hope that helps you in your decision making!.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageI was never fortunate enough to experience the previous model of the S-Phyre’s so I can’t comment on the differences between the two. However, having spent time and money on a couple of other cheaper models, inc.
the Shimano RC5’s whilst trying to find a decent pair of shoes, I have no qualms about stating that you get what you pay for here. Before purchasing these, I used and still do use, a pair of Giro Empire lace ups, which are very comfortable.
But, I wanted something to use on the road and regularly on the turbo, and not have to spend time doing up and undoing the laces, plus have something that I can tweak whilst on the bike should the pressure build up or the shoe feel loose.
I guess I have ‘normal width’ feet as these feel ok to me, e. g. my feet don’t feel squashed at the sides (for info, my feet are approx. 10cm edge to edge at their widest and 27. 5 – 28cm length). I’m normally a size 9 (eu43) in a trainer or normal shoe, and ordered a size eu44 for this road shoe.
It fits just fine, with enough wriggle room. The fact that it has two BOA dials that can be tightened or loosened without having to start from scratch, allows for that fine tuning once you’ve been riding for 20 mins or so and your feet begin to react with the heat/cold/pressure etc.
Unlike the RC5, they’re easy to get on and off. They come with an additional arch support for those with a deeper arch, and also a bag to keep them as they should be. I didn’t get on with the RC5’s. As a few others stated in reviews, the single top BOA dial didn’t allow for that tuning, and I got pressure points across the top of my foot.
The S-Phyre’s also have the option for replaceable heels, the RC5’s were moulded as one. Would I normally spend ÂŁ300+ on a pair of road shoes? No. Did I feel like I needed to, to get what I wanted? Yes.
Do I have any complaints about doing so with these? Nope. Would recommend.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageIâve wider than average feet and these fit really well – I ordered a couple of pairs from Sigma to try get the right size. I found they matched up pretty perfect with my normal size but I am just between UK sizes which makes buying cycle shoes online a nightmare but chats with Sigma online guides me away from Some shoes and recommended others.
These shoes are amazing – dual BOAS make adjustments easy although I found initially Iâd tighten the front one too much at times causing a bit of pins and needles as my feet warmed up! But the reverse adjustment without undoing the boas makes this easy.
Temperature wise – warm weather riding no issues with good ventilation a ride in 11 deg recently I found my feet getting a little cold but not uncomfortable – will be interesting to see how they fair in winter? The grippy fabric in the heal makes good contact with the sock and helps with any heal lift when walking.
The colour (blue) is amazing! The only gripe I have is the burrito style wrap over upper, Iâve either huge feet or itâs not quite wide enough so when tightened Iâve a small gap just below the upper boa – Iâm actually going to get a small piece of neoprene to try cover this in colder days! Walking in these is fine – very stiff sole though so be aware if youâre a Walker/pusher/runner.

The Fizik R5B WomensShoesinherit many of the features of the R3B model. This great value shoe has a carbon-reinforced nylon outsole for stiffness and strength as well as the much-sought-after Boa closure system along with a Microtex upper; making this one of the finest pair of road shoes available.
Not just a smaller version of the men’s R5B, the women’s version has specifically-designed panelling in the upper, a narrower heel cup and lower forefoot volume for the optimal performance and comfort.
The carbon-reinforced nylon outsole is not only lightweight but also very stiff and durable. This stiffness makes these shoes a great platform for transferring the most amount of power to the road. The Boa IP1 system is one of the best performing closure systems for road shoes.
The Boa offers a glove-like fit with infinite micro-adjustability, which does away with pressure points while giving a superb degree of fine tuning. Easy on-the-fly adjustments can be made with one hand and the Boa system, once locked, stays that way.
The laser perforated Microtex upper is constructed from the same material as Fizik’s legendary range of saddle covers. Microtex is lighter than leather, very durable and very good at standing up to wet and wild conditions.
Reflective inserts make these shoes easy to see in darker conditions. In fact, having other people look at these shoes is not going to be a problem. These are some of the most eye-catching shoes on the market and Fizik’s heritage of beautiful design is on show for all the world to see.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageI’ve never been accused of having wide feet. I’ve never bought wide shoes. I often find the toe box of shoes to be more spacious than I ever need. These are still a bit narrow.
The sizing is a bit weird. I have european sized dress shoes and the equivalents for Fizik EU to US is wacky. I wear a size 12 US and the 46 is like 12. 23. Some fraction that isn’t a thing in US shoes that I’ve ever seen.
Like some sites reviews of the shoes have said the material is like a denser trucker cap back. I figured I’d really feel all the air through my feet and even with some thinner cycling socks it doesn’t feel that breezey.
This was a key factor in buying these over the Vento Infinito Knit Carbon 2 as what reviews I could find said these were the most breathable and breezey shoes. I live in CA where during the summer most of my rides are in the 90 to 115 degree range for 5 or so months of the year.
The soles are stiff. Not sure how stiff compared to others as I have only tried one other pair that didn’t work out. The velcro is easy to take on and off. The 3 hole slots go back fairly far. Apparently in reading reviews in the past Fizik shoes did not go as far back towards the heel as people would like.
But it goes back far enough for me that I think I might need to move them towards the toe a bit.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageBought these last winter for use in the spring. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get on with them. I’m UK size 8 and bought the 42. Length wise, perfect, but too tight in the toe box.
I wanted to use different footbeds for arch support, but there was no chance, and even with the supplied footbed I lose feeling in my toes even on short rides with the strap pretty much undone. For info, my feet are are approx 10.
5 cm wide. I also find the holes for cleat position further forward than I would like. It’s a shame, as they feel well made and were good value; I can’t comment on power transfer as my toes have been numb.

IĆĄverstiShow in original languageCompletely stiff, very light, ok to walk in, durable and very very comfortable. With previous shoes (sidi dominator, specialized) I was having pretty severe foot pain from my toes smashing front of shoe when mountain biking.
Pain so severe that I had to count to help ignore the pain during races. Big race was coming up and I needed to do something. Tried 5-6 different pairs in seattle area, everything that I could get my feet into and nothing was very good.
Ordered 6 pairs of shoes from all over the internet in multiple sizes, every brand i could find in my size. These were the only shoes that really controlled my foot. The laces are key – the included arch support was a nice touch.
I normally wear a 12. 5 but have an enormous arch and can’t get my feet into many boots. These shoes are simply awesome. I happily paid full msrp for the first pair. Bought a second pair when bright red was on sale at 1/2 price.
Absolutely no regrets these have been terrific. Laces are good for about 2. 5 years but shoes are going strong. I am 100% singlespeed mtb, rain or shine and I don’t even think about my feet any more.

IĆĄverstiShow in original languageI really wanted to love these shoes. After having the lower-end Freeriders that fit too loose and bulky, I thought these narrow models would be Goldilocks. No such luck.
The narrowness does tame down in the toe with use, but the ankle slips like crazy because it has a slick leathery heel, and the cut around the ankle is way high which makes you remember youâre wearing them with every foot strike hitting your ankle bone.
Yes, theyâre the right size, for sure. They do run very small. Also, they attract dust/dirt on the most modest trail. These are weird. They feel like rented bowling shoes. Plus after the first ride I had very noticeable sole wear on the treads.

IĆĄverstiShow in original languageWith the sale price plus the shoe sale bonus it was too good a deal (around ÂŁ25 off) to let go! The fit of the Savix 2 is perfect and moving from 2 to 3 bolt cleats I have the option of going back to 2 bolt if my knees (issues from motorbike crash) dont like them.
The BOA system is very easy to use and quicker than laces, also the style and colour of the shoe lends better to BOA. The inner sole do NOT have a selection of arch supports despite the leaflet/instructions that come with shoes stating they do.
An email to Giro and an online chat with Sigma cleared this up. However the standard inner sole is ok for me. The only negative I can find is the heel support is not replaceable unlike some other shoes in this price bracket.
All in all a very good, comfortable shoe, easy and fast to use with a firm foot bed. I can feel the difference in power transfer when pedalling compared to more flexible mtb shoes.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageI am not too sure about these. I moved from shimano RC5 to these as I was looking for something which will be more roomy in the toes area which these are. However I feel like my feet is whole a bit to loose in these even though the size is good and cannot be smaller.
It seems that they just don’t wrap around feet so nicely. Hard to say. Also just after 2nd ride the leather on the front has scratched. I assume when I hit the pedals when trying to clip in. I will be riding in them until they wear off although next time I think I will be looking for a different shoe.
IĆĄverstiShow in original languageThey serve the purpose that I got them for, which is indoor spinning along with an spd cleat. They are light, quite breathable, and comfortable.
