Usborne has published many classics, which share values that generations before have used to be successful. The sturdy storage box will help to preserve the content for years to come.
I ordered these to use as reading books for my twins (age 5) whilst the schools are closed. A good range. They cover different abilities and the kids are loving them. My daughter especially likes the earlier books which are shared reading for parent and child.
The later ones are ideal for my son who is a more confident reader.
Perfect condition, very useful for helping our little one get to grips with reading. Engaging little stories, just long enough and just short enough, building a good progression of difficulty for the parts the child reads themselves from the starting books upwards.
Very happy with the investment, and at over 160quid less than the supposed retail price, really can’t complain!.
My First Reading Library is a super collection of engaging stories with bright and colourful illustrations which appeal to children. There is a logical progression of phonics and sight words through the books helping children to improve their reading skills.
Wonderful art with few words on each page yet many pages to each Bible story. Story told in easy to understand language for children at young ages. I have used these books for ages 2-6 with wonderful results.
The children are always attentive. I have used as a one-year curriculum for 2-and-3-year-old junior church program. I have also repurchased the set to read to my grandson. This purchase is at the request of my Daughter-in-law for Christmas gift for my 6 year old grandson to keep at their house.
I like this book because every page is a large color picture! The color really attracts preschoolers, and the text is done masterfully to get the little ones into the story. A bonus is the questions after each story.
They get preschoolers thinking and talking about what was just read to them. This book is one of a multi-volume series. I have purchased each one, and they are all the same exceptional quality writing and artwork.
I first purchased these books when my children were small. Now I see there is a Vol. 5 out. They are excellent books because the pictures are big and colorful and the printing is also big so they are easy to read.
Stories are not wordy so it doesn’t take forever to read them. I have purchased them recently because now I have a new Grandson. I also intend to have a set for each of my kids in case I’m not around for future Grandchildren.

I bought in February & it was delivered ahead of time. Love this book. My grandchildren had this book & now I bought it for my Greats. The animals & the rhymes keep their attention. ❤️
Googled, “High in the sky in the shape of a V, how many wild geese can you see?” My First Counting Book popped up – SO OUT OF PRINT! Read this to my children and, now, I can read it to my grandchildren! Giving it to my son this weekend!.
The cover was really messed up, not like the photo shown. I was disappointed wih this one. i was looking for a book copy for a project but will have to get another one.

This “bible” is excellent. I think it would be valuable for new believers as well as children. The stories aren’t sugar coated like so many children’s bibles. Hurlburt retells the Bible in great detail but not so much as to make the story drag.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Bible and completed most of a master’s degree in New Testament. When I read this to my daughter I make connections that I’ve never made before and come away with a better understanding of the scriptures.
This book is out of print so if you have the opportunity to buy it don’t pass it up.
Awesome little book with a lot of different short stories. Some pictures, all black and white. I read a story a night for my 5 year old boy and he likes them and looks forward to them. After hearing me read some to my son, my 10 year old daughter wants to read it when we’re finished with it.
Can’t beat the price either. I recommend it, it’s well worth it.
My granddaughter arrived from the Philippines this Summer. The book arrived just before school started here. Her father said she loves it and is glued to it. She is 9 yrs old and reads it to her 7 yr old brother.
I bought both sets of junkie B Jones ( Kindergarten and first grade) I have two granddaughters one in kindergarten and the other is in preschool. Although the oldest is learning to read the youngest loves to listen to the story.
They read at least one chapter every night. They love this series and can’t wait for bedtime. Although my daughter doesn’t like when they use stupid and Big fat Mouth she changes the words so the girls still get the idea.
I needed “Jingle Bells, Batman Smells” for my daughters class activity and my daughter loves Junie B Jones so I purchased the whole set, knowing that they will be read. She absolutely loves these silly books.
A #1 New York Times bestseller, this innovative and wildly funny read-aloud by award-winning humorist/actor B. J. Novak will turn any reader into a comedian–a perfect gift for any special occasion! You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious.
Except. here’s how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say. BLORK. Or BLUURF. Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.
Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, The Book with No Pictures is one that kids will beg to hear again and again. (And parents will be happy to oblige. ).
Ok so we have literally 1000 kids books in our house but I held off on this one even with the good reviews because it sounded so dumb to me. Finally I had to see what the hype was about so I bought this and read to my daughter (turning 4 in a few weeks).
She was also skeptical. A few pages in she was CRACKING UP. I have never seen her laugh so hard. We immediately had to read it again. She wanted a third read, but it was bedtime. She kept trying to repeat parts back to me but was laughing so hard she couldn’t even get her words out.
I still don’t really get it, but I guess I’m about 30 years too old for this humor :).
my 3 yr old was given this as a gift. he was annoyed that there weren’t pictures. he didn’t think anything in the book was funny and didnt laugh a single time during it. he couldn’t stay engaged due to how boring the book is between any parts that they try to be funny.
I wish we were given a receipt to return it. I completely don’t understand how it could have ever been a best seller or why people rate this book so high.
It’s the night before the Big Day—first grade. Penny is excited to start the year with her best friend right beside her in the same classroom. This humorous take on Clement C. Moore’s classic tale has a perfect twist ending that will surprise readers—as well as the “heroine” of the story—and help all about-to-be first-graders through their own back-to-school jitters.
This is a really neat book, told in reference to the classic “The Night Before Christmas” story. It’s great to read for the first day of school and can be used throughout to teach rhyme. Excellent book.
The classic New York Times bestselling chapter book series with over 8 million copies sold A lively, entertaining read with heart – Common Sense Media Only a stooge couldn’t love Ivy and Bean – Kirkus Reviews Meet Ivy & Bean.
Bean has lots of friends, loves stomping in puddles and hates being bored. Ivy has just moved in next door. Ivy seems nice, wears dresses and sparkly headbands – which makes Bean think she’s too boring to be friends with.
But after Ivy comes to Bean’s rescue they become the best of friends and begin a series of silly, sneaky, imaginative, sometimes naughty and always hilarious adventures. The perfect chapter books for grades 1-4, reluctant readers and fans of Ramona and Junie B.
Jones. Read Kiddo ReadA Triumph of friendship, ingenuity and fun! ReadersI read ALL of the books in this series when I was in elementary school (I am 17 now) and I absolutely LOVED them. This series truly taught me the joy in reading and creativity, as well as real social dynamics you see in everyday life.
ParentsShe just devoured this book. It was her first real chapter book and she’s hooked!! This is the ONLY chapter book series that my daughter has fallen for and will re-read on her own.
I’m trying lots of chapter books to find good ones for my granddaughter. This is the first Ivy and Bean book about two seven year old neighbor girls who become friends. I loved the premiss UNTIL I read the first one in the series.
Bean is definitely a problem child constantly being a thorn in her sister’s side spewing bulling type words running through neighbor’s yards when asked not too and finding fun in making others mad. Worse yet she’s unsurprised by her mother who seems to think Bean’s actions are funny.
Ivy dreams of becoming a witch and works on spells with Bean. They dig a hole in Bean’s yard to get worms which they throw in Bean’s sister’s face while the sister slips around in the muddy hole. NOTHING endearing cute or valuable to share with young or old children!!.
This is one of the books of the ‘Beginner Books’ series which, by exacting blends of words and pictures, encourages children to read all by themselves. Hailed by elementary educators and remedial reading specialists, these enormously popular books are now used in schools and libraries throughout the English-speaking world.
26 unpaginated pages. Binding very firm and straight. Board edges and corners unworn. All pages are bright tight and clean. Illustrated with colorful drawings. No apparent wear.
This Read-Along storybook of Moana re-tells the story of sea-faring adventurer Moana, who meets a demi-god Maui on her travels. The narration on the CD matches the book’s text word-for-word to help build vocabulary and encourage independent reading.
This 32-page storybook comes with a read-along CD featuring narration, sound effects, and original movie dialogue!.
My 5yr daughter loves the film, and thinks have the story before bedtime is great. Then after the story we leave her to listen the the Moana cd till she falls asleep . Fabulous x
This is the perfect alternative to screen time for my two year old. He loves to listen to music and books in the car on long trips. No screen involved!
First Grade gradually adds more complexity as your beginning reader acquires 30 new sight words. It is a great companion book to Bob Books Sight Words.
10 easy-to-read, hilarious small books, 12 pages each.Â.
Slightly longer and more complex stories.Â.
All stories told in one syllable, three-, four- and five-letter words, plus sight words.Â.
Consistent short vowels mean easy decoding in the rest of the story.Â.
Sight words are words that must be recognized by sight rather than sounded out. They are the most frequently used words in the English language, such as are, was, and out. Children who are learning to read are encouraged to practice and memorize this list of words, in order to become fluent readers (who are able to read for meaning rather than stumble over words).
Sight words are taught primarily in kindergarten and first grade, though often the practice extends up through fourth grade. BOB BOOKS have always incorporated sight words, though the sounding-out approach minimized their use.
These will be the first BOB BOOKS products to focus on learning and practicing sight words. They will stand alone as two boxes – neither MY FIRST, nor numbered as a SET. Their noted grades (kindergarten or first) will serve as the level.
The titles allow parents to choose whether to prep their children for next year, or reinforce what they’ve learned last year.
I bought these because they said kindergarten. But, didn’t realize until they came that there were many different options. The kindergarten ones are kind of advance with a handful of book series before them.
I should have bought an easier series for a new 5 year old.
Bob Books are great for new readers. I was looking for a book that focused on three letter words and simple pictures that tell the story. These books do it and now the new edition of ‘Sight Words’ are great since in Kindergarten these words are being introduced at the same time.
The characters stay the same from Book 1 Beginner Reader to the end of the series. I am definitely saving these books for my 11 month son from my 5 year old son.
With original character voices and sound effects from the award-winning film, The Lion King, this thrilling read-along brings all the action to life. Readers can turn the pages at the sound of the chime and follow along with the word-for-word narration on the CD!.
The title is The Lion King read along storybook and CD but the CD was missing when I opened the package Not to mention Ive paid 4.99 when its saying it was originally $.95

A beautiful book bought for my granddaughter Eva’s Christening. The stories are easy to read and illustrations are fantastic. There is even a question after each story to discuss what happened. The Vicar presented and blessed it at the service and dedicated it inside with a lovely bible quote.
He commented on what a perfect bible for a child rather than the leather clad traditional ones. Would definitely recommend and look forward to reading with Eva.
I bought this for my niece’s First Communion. It’s a perfect gift for a child of her age (8). The classic bible stories are told in simple language with beautiful illustrations. It was even better than I had anticipated.
Soon to be a major motion picture! While all of the other bulls snort, leap, and butt their heads, Ferdinand is content to just sit and smell the flowers under his favorite cork tree. Leaf’s simple storytelling paired with Lawson’s pen-and-ink drawings make The Story of Ferdinand a true classic.
Commemorate the 75th anniversary of the book’s original publication with this beautiful and affordable 8×8 paperback edition.
I purchased this book as a gift for a Christmas book exchange. I remembered reading or watching the story of Ferdinand as a kid. The price was right and shipping was free from the seller! Can’t get better than that.
Overall the story was what I remembered, a sweet little bull who loves peaceful days and “smelling the roses. ” The part I forgot about was the book describing in generalities some of the implements used to provoke bulls during bullfights.
I would say that most of the story is great for kids, but you may want to share this with older children. Nice thin paperback book, can’t be more than 20 pages. It was super popular with the adults (20-30yrs) at my Christmas party–I think we all were a bit nostalgic.
A classic story done right. This book is fantastic and is a go to gift for any baby shower. I wish it didn’t have the plug for the cartoon movie version on the cover. I would prefer the classic cover, but this price is right!.
This charming reference introduces young readers to the wider world by exploring languages, landscapes, weather, animals, capital cities, mountains, deserts, and other landscapes and landforms, and more.

This book will quickly become a favorite at storytime, bedtime, or any other time.
This book is excellent for kids. I bought this for my 8 year old daughter as she is learning about the world and my son who is 4 loves the pictures. I’ve even ordered a few more books on different subjects.

*”Both feline hero and story are full of beans (more Mexican-jumping than pinto) but ay caramba, mucho fun. “–Kirkus Reviews, starred review “Buoyant and colorful cartoon illustrations match the exuberant text perfectly.
A moving and universal picture book about empathy and kindness, sure to soothe heartaches big and small—now a New York Times bestseller and a perfect gift for any special occasionWhen something sad happens, Taylor doesn’t know where to turn.
All the animals are sure they have the answer. The chicken wants to talk it out, but Taylor doesn’t feel like chatting. The bear thinks Taylor should get angry, but that’s not quite right either. One by one, the animals try to tell Taylor how to act, and one by one they fail to offer comfort.
Then the rabbit arrives. All the rabbit does is listen. which is just what Taylor needs. With its spare, poignant text and irresistibly sweet illustration, The Rabbit Listened is about how to comfort and heal the people in your life, by taking the time to carefully, lovingly, gently listen.
This book is beautiful. It is a great age appropriate way to discuss big feelings like anxiety, depression and stress with your little one. I’m a grown-up and I found myself getting teary reading this book, because it has a wonderful message about how to support people who are going through a rough time.
I have now purchased this book 3 times – for my own kids, for my therapy office, & for a gift. I’m sure I’ll be gifting more of these. It is a well loved book by my own kids & as a therapist, it’s such a beautiful & relatable way to teach empathy & the power of just being present.
I received “The Rabbit Listened” hardcover book in excellent packaged condition and exactly as advertised on Zulily. This awesome story line has vibrant illustrations that compliment each word as the story book unfolds in a positive light.

Reviews From Real Customers
These are small, paper books, with 8 pages, including the title page. Words and phrases are repeated, which provides satisfying success. Most have a little twist on the last page, which makes us both smile.
As the levels increase, there are small changes, but nothing that makes “D” overwhelming, compared to “A”. I purchased these for my second grade granddaughter, who is the youngest in her class (late August birthday), and who is not reading quite as well as her classmates: reading too fast, leaving out words, lacking confidence.
She fell in love with an adorable resin beagle puppy in a box at a nice gift shop. I bought the puppy statue, she named her Pumpkin, and I said that she needed to read all 60 books to me – no errors, or she started that one over – before Pumpkin could go home with her.
It took her two short sessions to read all 15 Level “A” books and a couple of the higher ones. She enjoys completing each one quickly and tossing it into the “finished” baggie! I think we have about 7 left.
I look forward to sending Pumpkin home with her and to giving her the books to read, again, to her parents and little sister. In addition, the illustrations are simple, black and white drawings, so they will be wonderful for coloring.
Don’t expect lengthy, complicated stories. This purchase is a 5-star one for me, because I see a sparkle in my little girl’s eyes, when we pick some to read, and when she knows she has done a good job!.
25 Mini book, Each Has 7-page Story. My PreK Daughter Just Turning 5 Year Old Was Able To Read It Herself With Some Help. We Shared Some Of The Books With Her Classmates.
These aren’t books. If you are comfortable paying the price for NOT BOOKS so be it. But these are stapled together black and white pamphlets being advertised as books, and they won’t fill up your kid’s bookshelf because they aren’t books.
For what they are, reading practice pamphlets, they are fine. But don’t expect BOOKS.
Bob Books are back, now with a bright, unique box display and colored illustrations throughout that make learning to read even more fun! Bob Books Set 1: Beginning ReadersTeach a child letter sounds with Bob Books Set 1! With four letters in the first story, children can read a whole book.
Consistent new sounds are added gradually, until young readers have read books with all letters of the alphabet (except Q). Short vowels and three-letter words in simple sentences make Bob Books Set 1 a fun confidence builder.
IšverstiShow in original languageFor the most-beginner reader, this is a great set of books. A child who has learned the basic sounds of the alphabet, he/she can jump right in and have success with reading.
My 5-year-old grandson was so proud of himself when he was able to pick up the first book and read it without a lot of coaching. A child who is more advanced probably needs a different set. The pictures are super simple, but entertaining for a child, and the characters are easily recognizable.
Forget about the reviewers that slam them for being “KKK. ” Totally ridiculous. They are based on shapes — Mat is round, Sam is a triangle. Come on people –do we have to look for something that isn’t there?!.

Conclusion
A read aloud is an important part of a first grade student’s day. It is a time for the student to sit and listen to a story being read by the teacher. The teacher will usually ask questions during the read aloud to check for understanding.
At the end of the read aloud, the teacher will ask the students to think about what they have learned and to make connections to their own lives. The teacher will then ask the students to share their thoughts with the class.
