20 Best Razor Blades For Safety Razors (2023 Updated)

Shaving for some professions is key. We have waivers and profiles where we don’t have to shave but some of us want to shave and feel like we’re neck and neck with our competition. I’ve struggled for years looking for a shaving solution/regimen and almost gave up hope.

I’ve tried everything under the sun. This double edge safety has been the fix and this regimen that bevel has created with their products and instructions are the best and only that I’ve found tailored to us.

I know the safety razor wasn’t created yesterday, but the whole product line and delivery has created a space that doesn’t make me feel like I am trying to find a product that may not work for me. It’s a great feeling.

I highly recommend for beginners to try this product and to also follow the instructions. You will see and feel a difference.

This is my first review letter in my life. Yeah. Here’s 5 reasons why this is the best razor ever and you should buy one right now:I am 63 and have tried every razor made since the 1960s. I have the worst combo: tender skin/tough beard.

I had been using a 1972 Gillette adjustable for the last several years until it broke and I started searching. When I saw $50 for a razor. I laughed. No way. I decided to buy an open box Bevel on EBay for $30, just out of curiosity.

No way I was going to spend $50. LOL. After 1 shave, I can easily say I would have spent the $50. Here’s what made the shave different:1. Super well machined. Changing blades is easy and the threads on the handle close tight.

2. The beveled shape is unique. It gives a cushion that allows better control of the shave head so you don’t either gouge or miss the surface. 3. The cylindrical handle. Wow. This is huge. I realized that I never had a perfectly round cylinder for a handle before.

Most shavers have corners and flat sides. When you shave 3 strokes, its super easy to spin the head to the other side, making the entire shave 2x as fast. 4. The weighted head facilitates the process.

No pushing. Less cuts and misses. 5. For the first time in 50 years, my face felt like the inner part of a baby’s thigh. I have never had a shave this close.

This razor is very well-made. The parts are nicely polished and fit together perfectly. It comes with 5 starter blades, which give a good shave. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s well-designed. To add “grip” to the polished handle, they added a *very* light brushed/etched/sandblasted texture to it.

The texture is so light that it doesn’t really add much grip at all, and the razor felt slippery in my grip when wet and soapy. Definitely not something I want in a razor, and disappointing in one that cost $50, and is otherwise pretty nice.

I returned it and purchased a slightly cheaper one with a knurled handle.

I’m not going to lie. I ran out of blades. I haven’t been able to find them in Target for a while now so I have been ordering them on Amazon. Then recently I could find them on Amazon and I was down to my last BEVEL blade.

I’m embarrassed to even say but I purchased some Amazon version 100 blades for 12 bucks or something like that… long story less long those blades are trash and they are not made for corse hair. They pull on your hair because they are not sharp enough.

Something told me just go to the Bevel website and purchase the blades. Should’ve been done this. Thank God for Bevel. I can get back to shaving my head with ease.

I purchased the Bevel kit about 2 two weeks ago. I was somewhat skeptical about making the purchase after reading some of the reviews. I have been pleasantly surprised so far with whole kit. I used to use Bump Fighters razors, but they were discontinued.

I wish I started using Bevel years ago. No razor bumps or razor burn. I would highly recommend to any one on the fence. Follow the instructions and hopefully you have the same results.

My aesthetician recommended I use a single blade razor. I was nervous to try one but after buying Bevels shave brush and seeing it’s high quality, I decided to stick to the same brand with and bought the single blade shaver.

Best decision I made! Skin feels smooth and fresh and have even received complements on how rejuvenated my face looks. Thanks Bevel!.

When I first used this blade I was most impressed, however I could not get a complete second comfortable shave out of it. I just recently returned to DE shaving after a 40 years. I remember getting at least 5 shaves out of the old Shick, Gillette and Wilkinson; remembering the only one I could not get 5 from was The Personna, I have tried at least 10 different blades since returning besides this one including Sharp, Gillette, Feather, Wilkinson, Parker, Persona even a couple of store brands.

Can anyone suggest a sharp long lasting blade, like the old ones?.

I think these blades are okay, but maybe a little inconsistent. The first one I got out of the pack was pretty sharp, but the second was barely sharper than the first was after it had been used for 5 or 6 shaves.

Already snagged a bit on the first shave. I think they’re worth adding to the cart when you buy a razor, but I’ll probably explore other options when these are almost out.

I’m actually surprised by how much I like these razors. Up front there’s the price. My local supermarket sells a pack of 10 Wilkinson Sword razors for $11. These things cost less than $6 a throw. Even if you chuck on the $10 shipping, it’s still cheaper to buy 3 packs of these, delivered to your house than buy 3 packs locally.

If you order enough or purchase with other items to get free shipping, you’re miles in front. So if they’re so much cheaper, they won’t be as good, right? Wrong. Firstly, there’s the packaging. No useless little cardboard package that throws razor blades all through your wet bag or cupboard.

The little plastic container dispenses one razor on command, no more, no less and doesn’t drop any out when you don’t want it to. Secondly, there’s the shave. I wouldn’t have thought there’d be much difference but the shave with these feels much much nicer than the blades I’ve used previously.

All up very happy with these.

For my beard, this Razor Blade works great! I have medium to thick beard so I change the blade out twice a week. This way I always have a sharp blade. The price is very moderate so I don’t worry about waiting until the blade starts to pull at my beard.

The quality control on this blade is very consistent. I have run across a few blades that I replaced early, but that happens with most any brand. I purchase the Derby Extra blades in the 100 count box so I get a bit more than a year’s supply.

This blade may not be for everyone, but it works great for me!.

I have used Merkur blades in the past and I have thought they were fantastic. I liked them because they were sturdy and sharp. They gave the best shaves I have ever had and would cut any hair on my face no matter the thickness.

They would also last forever, I could get 20+ shaves with every blade. I thought I might purchase a pack of 100 of them as I would have them forever. When I received the 100 I was severely disappointed.

I thought that I was buying the same Merkur blades that I had used in the past which were made in Germany but no. these blades are made in the Czech Republic and are thin, dull, and don’t give nearly as nice of a shave as what I am used to.

Perhaps I didn’t read the page when I bought them as I didn’t see the “made in Czech Republic” in the description or perhaps Merkur has changed their manufacturing out of Germany and into the Czech Republic.

Either way I am extremely disappointed with their quality and regret buying so many. I do not recommend these blades to anyone who is used to the quality of the Merkur blades which are made in Germany.

I’ve been buying Merkur double-edge razor blades for years and always been very impressed with their 5 Star quality. Sadly, this is no longer the case. This latest batch was so bad I contacted Merkur (Dovo) direct in Germany to check they were a genuine Merkur item.

Turns out they are, but Merkur have stopped having them made in Germany and moved production to the Czech Republic. The result is a vastly inferior product quality, clearly made from thinner gauge steel and giving a very poor shave because they are so blunt.

The blade edges are also no longer marked I and II to enable easy identification of the edge being used. Very disappointing. I’ll be buying an alternative brand next time around.

I just had a terrific shave with this blade in a Futur razor using Tabac soap and Edwin Jagger pre shave. I tried Merkur blades a few years ago and wasn’t impressed. I decided to give them a second chance and found a very superior shave.

I have no idea where these blades were made , but recognizing the volume of blades available, a man’s preference is purely subjective. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but you really need to decide for yourself.

I will preface this review with the fact that I am female, shaving legs and under arms using only Andalou body wash as a buffer for shaving. I do have sensitive skin, prone to razor burn. I have tried at least a dozen different razor blades in three different DE razors over the past six or seven years.

I have used a Merkur razor, the Edwin Jagger black diamond, another Edwind Jagger that was longer, and I now use a Timeless razor. The Timeless does over half the work, with the top plate pressing the blade against the bottom plate completely, eliminating blade chatter.

I experienced some blade chatter with both the other razor brands. These razor blades may be the second priciest of all the ones I’ve tried, but I achieve a clean shave the first pass, no irritation and no nicks or cuts.

I can easily get two full under-arm and leg shaves with one blade, if not three. Every blade in the receptacle works flawlessly. The only aspect I don’t like is the plastic case they come in. Even other Personna lines are wrapped in wax paper and then a small cardboard receptacle.

There is no good reason for the wasteful plastic and they would likely cut production costs by eliminating them. All of this said, I am prone to razor burn and have sensitive skin. I may have to just settle for requesting the company rethink the plastic and continue ordering them anyway.

I find it very hard to believe I could find a better shave with any other blade for my needs.

I have purchased Shark, Astra, Gillette, Lord Super, Merkur, Wilkinson and Personna Red. I have also tried Feather blades and, like many, find them to be almost too sharp and I had a lot more weepers and nicks during my short experience with them.

I have used all of these blades in my old, reliable DE razor (an Edwin Jagger black diamond) and my new and much improved DE razor (Timeless Titanium crown). I am a female shaver. so these blades are used on my legs and under my arms.

I know what type of hair you shave and where makes a difference. hence the clarification. I found Astra to be sharp, if a bit prone to chatter and when purchased in bulk, unreliable. I’d have one good blade out of every twenty or so.

The rest would have nicks in the edge of the blade, thus causing cuts. The Sharks were a little less aggressive and less prone to blade chatter, but not much more reliable when purchased in bulk. I also didn’t appreciate all the plastic used by Shark.

as they just sent multiple five packs, incased in plastic. I wanted something more reliable and less prone to nicking my bony knees or causing irritation in the uneven areas under my arms. So, the search continued.

The next four I listed were all worse in similar ways. They all were more likely to cut my skin, even where I normally didn’t get cut. They were not reliable and some of them. like Wilkinson. were so dull I had to perform multiple passes for the same result others gave in one.

The Personna Red is just as reliable as the blue but more irritating to my skin and more likely to leave razor burn as a result. I do shave without cream. using only body gel. I have shaved this way all my life so a blade not performing under these conditions does not mean the conditions are wrong.

It means the blade is wrong for my shaving technique. Finally, we arrive at Personna Blue. I only nick my skin with these blades if I’m being impatient. Between the Timeless and the Personna Blue blades, I achieve smooth skin, in one pass, every time.

I can use one blade at least two times. Most blades I use three before disposing. These are not the cheapest blades I’ve purchased but I’m very glad I didn’t just except cuts and nicks were part of DE shaving and kept searching.

This blade is sharp, quality, and reliable. They send the 100 order as individually paper-sleeved blades in a cardboard box. I much prefer this less waste method. The only note I would add is the chatter of a blade is largely controlled by a well designed DE razor head.

That said, some blades are just thin and prone to it regardless. I highly recommend these blades.

I wanted to try these to compare them to the Personna Hospital use blades, those blades are extreamly sharp and require a very light touch to keep from scraping away your skin down to the dermis layer and seeing blood.

In comparison the extra sharp blades are almost as sharp but feel smoother on the face the, Hospital blades feel rather ragged on the skin as if the edge were not as smooth, both are durable and i could use them twice if i wanted too.

I use the Extra Sharp blades mainly now except when I need a very neat look or have skipped a day and the foilage is very tough.

I’ve now used these Parker Premium Platinum Double-Edge Safety Razor blades now for nearly a month. I’ve used them in a 1970’s era Gillette Black Beauty adjustable and in my new Parker Variant adjustable.

My first use was startling. these blades are not sharp. They were dull (only word I can use) and nearly refused to cut whiskers. So I went over my technique, having used Feathers for years. Hot shower, hot bristles, hot lather, let soak onto whiskers for a couple of minutes.

New blade – no difference. These blades are NOT sharp. Multiple passes are required to get anywhere. A light touch doesn’t work – they won’t cut unless you lean on the handle (which is anathema to safety razor technique).

So I’ve cut myself several times with these blades, which is a novel experience for me. They’re worse (if that can be imagined) on the second shave. These are not a one shave blade, let alone two or more.

And what other people have commented about the 5-blade plastic cases is true. The cases are terrible. Hard/next to impossible to handily get a blade out but quite easy for a used blade to simply fall out.

Really bad product packaging here. Blades that aren’t sharp and crummy packaging. Plus side? They’re cheap and at a good price point for paint scraping. (The Parker Variant is very nice, however. Elegant, easy to use, good knurling, the whole package.

Nice job with the Variant).

I am not yet open, but the Parker half blades I have are super soft on me and they are identical to this one. So I can say that it is very good blades for my sensitive skin and for me better than the Shark blades.

For an inexpensive TTO razor, the Feather ticks the boxes. It features a robust plastic & metal construction, a smooth open and closing mechanism, good blade alignment and even a plastic carry case. I bought it for travelling rather than taking one of my vintage or more valuable razors.

The Feather provides a mild but reasonably efficient shave and would work well with the Feather blades (although I have yet try that combination). If I have one criticism, it concerns the case. With all the types of plastics available, razor manufacturers insist on using the nasty brittle kind that CD cases are made of, and are so prone to cracking and breaking.

How about more flexible cases that would stand up to the rigours of travel?.

This is a very light razor made almost entirely of plastic. However it is manufactured to a level of precision far beyond any other plastic razor you will find. It is a mild razor so may not work well for those with thicker, tougher beard hair or those who do not shave very often.

The only metal components are the doors and the end cap. The handle is quite long and the razor comes in its own plastic travel case with storage for a pack of blades. If you want to try Feather quality without paying the “breathtaking” price of an AS-D2, this is a good way to experiment.

It shaves incredibly well using Feather blades, I haven’t tried it with others as yet – it comes with a 10 pack of Feathers.

Pleasantly surprised. The head is the perfect size for under the nose. I have seen other reviews call it too light in weight for a starter razor it is just right. I must experiment but the shave is amazing.

I need to put the feather blade in another razor to see what happens. It shaves many times above the cost.

I have used many DE Razors over the years. Feather, Edwin Jagger DE89, Merkur 34C. The Vikings Blade Cheiftain is the best I have used to date. This is not to say that the others are not great shavers, put simply the Vikings Blade seems to deliver me a smoother shave coupled with Astra or Feather Blades.

Naturally a good shaving Soap/Cream and Brush with Hot water preparation is the key. Value for money this DE Razor ranks right up there as a premium grade product. If you can afford one do not hesitate.

You will not be dissapointed.

Not too much to say about the shaver, just that it’s awesome. It’s a great quality shaver that delivers a wonderful close shave. My only issue is that it was supposed to come with 5 blades but only came with 4.

It’s really not a big deal because the blades are cents on the dollar and there are many more quality blades out on the market.

Maybe for beginners, offers a mild and light shave. Not recommended for coarse beard shaving. Very weird angle to shave, lots of nicks and cuts. I would not buy it again. Anyone interested? I am offering it for free!!!.

I have used many brands of razors but I have never found the right brand that gets a clean,close shave and doesn’t give me razor burn or cuts me. I ended up neglecting my face because the last brand of razor I used ended up cut me.

A friend had then suggested that I try this brand, he owns a barber shop and this is what he uses on his clients. I was on the fence because I left my beard grow out some. I finally got annoyed to the point I said why not and tried them.

These are amazing! I got such a close shave, the shaving was easy and I didn’t cut myself or get razor burn so that was a plus. These are now stocked in my medicine cabinet and I have suggested to all my buddies.

Blades are very thin and fits perfectly in the King Gillette safety razor. The stainless steel blades are individually packed within a wax paper type of packaging. After over a month of use the blades have not rusted or show much signs of wear.

My skin is somewhat sensitive but these blades have proven to not cause burns or cuts when paired up with a good shaving cream. After many years of using multi-blade razor, switching to safety razors was a good change and recommend to anyone seeking for an iconic gear that results in a very close and good shaving experience.

I don’t know if I got a bad batch, but I had one razor that had no edge and was completely dull. The others have been really inconsistent and mostly dull. It’s pretty dangerous to have dull blades. I definitely won’t be buying another pack.

After trying a few 5 packs, I was sure to make the Lab Blues my favorites. Being super sharp and smooth on all my razors, I went ahead and ordered a 100 pack. Got the pack. First, the printing was perfect.

Not like the ones tried in the past with the “runny” or blurry label; no worries. Then I noticed the lack of wax dots keeping the blade aligned; again, no worries. After a good prep with pre-shave and good soap, loaded and started the shave.

Thinks went south. I have tried 10 blades so far from different parts of the pack and all are dull on one side!! The lack of wax dot keeping the blade in place and protecting the edges seems to be the problem as the blade “dances” around during shipping.

Wrote PBG but have not gotten a reply. Bad quality on this batch.

Decided to try Personna blades to see how they compare against two brands I’m currently using. One of those I would rate 10/10 and another 7/10. Unfortunately Personna wouldn’t have a chance even against that 7/10, so I’d stay with my current set.

Speaking of value I again prefer those that serve me now. The main reason being Personna doesn’t shave as good, and I don’t think any blade will last longer than 3 shaves (as opposed to two other once again).

Please note though that the final result depends not on a blade itself but on a razor+blade combo. My double edge safety razor seems to work best with the brand I rated 10/10 so my personal choice is obviuos.

In this case value goes not with Personna.

I have used a safety razor for many years. Since I shave almost everyday a double edge Razor is the most earth friendly ways to do it. The blades are have not plastic and neither does my razor. I get a 5 -7 shaves out of blade and at 13 Cents a blade I feel that I get a great economical deal as well.

The razors when done will rust back into the earth. So great cost and low impact to the earth. You can’t go wrong.

A couple of months ago I purchased a large selection of double edged blades. After trying two brands I gave the Gillette Astra a try. Couldn’t get over the close, smooth shave I get. No pulling and the more I shaved the quicker I started to move across my face.

No nicks! I continued my quest for my perfect blade but after two more shaves of so-so results I thought, what’s the point, I found the perfect blade for my face! Buy them now, they will be hard to find after Russia invades the Ukraine.

I’ve been shaving with these for 3 years now; I shave twice per week and change out the blade after 3-5 uses. Once in a while I get one that shaves like crap, but for 11 cents each you really can’t beat these! I’m still using my first 100-pack from 3 years ago and I’m on the last few 5-pack boxes so I’ll need to order more in the coming months.

These kick the crap out of the fancy Gillette disposable razors (not to mention the other brands, too) and I haven’t bought any of those in years. Astra has been around for a long time, and I don’t see myself changing brands anytime soon.

Hsve been using the Kent Milds and Astras for a year, both deliver a very nice shave, I wanted to experiment with a keener blade so mentioned the Feather blades, the expert ladies at KOI suggested to gradually work up to the very sharp Feather blades with the Kai Razor blades.

The difference in closeness with the Kai blades is noticeable and a friend who uses Feathers suggests the Kai are perhaps more forgiving of daydreaming than the Feathers. I will finish the Kai packet before trying out the Feathers.

Here I thought Feather blades were the ultimate. My first two shaves with Kai blades have been revelatory. I loaded one into my Edwin Jagger 3ONE6. It made that interesting crinkling sound as I ******* the handle onto the baseplate/razorhead combination.

My first two strokes, the blade feel was very prominent, nearly disturbingly so. By the third and fourth strokes there was practically zero blade feel through the rest of the shave. No nicks, no cuts, no errors.

Second shave, no sensation but that of a mild, close shave. I nearly didn’t need a third pass for total smoothness — in fact, the third pass was more like a routine clean-up pass. Again, after cleaning the razor and reinserting the blade, there was the crinkling sound as the blade perfectly conformed itself to the razor’s engineering tolerances.

If this keeps up through four shaves, this will be my new #1 in the 3ONE6, which by the way, beautifully accommodates the Feathers with which it comes packed. But Feathers only get me through three shaves before I notice a marked drop off in sharpness.

Oh, and there’s this; it’s either cool or cooly arrogant — Kai blades have no branding on the wrapper or blade. There’s no logo, no engraving; just this beautiful piece of stainless steel honed to a fair thee well wrapped in heavy waxed paper and without glue tacks.

I have been shaving traditionally for nearly twenty years now and every year or so there is a new fantasy product which everyone has to try. It seems we are enjoying The Golden Age of Shaving. I bought the Kai razor blades on a whim, because I have used their shavette blades.

Everyone inevitably compares these blades to Feathers. This is understandable. They are both Made in Japan, both priced as a premium product and both have their fans and detractors. For me, Kai blades feel rather different from Feathers, which have been my blade-of-choice for a very long time.

However, like many people, I find the first shave with a Feather to be almost too much of a good thing. Their sharpness is what draws people in, but it must be treated with respect. Fortunately, I have long stopped trying for a BBS each day.

I rarely shave ATG; two passes WTG and I’m done. This is a good way to get a decent-looking shave without stressing your skin. It is also a good way to get the best out of a Feather. As for the Kais, they are initially not even nearly as sharp as Feathers, but they seem to get sharper than Feathers for the 2nd and 3rd shave.

They are smooth. And they are incredibly durable. This is their Unique Selling Point. Their edge seems to be indestructible. A week of smooth, sharp shaving makes them surprisingly frugal. Are Kais the best blade out there? I don’t know.

There are about 100 different blades I have not tried yet! I have read all the reviews below and they clearly don’t work for everyone. They do work for me.

I bought the Wilkinson Sword safety razor kit because it was the only option available in the pharmacy and it was affordable too. The experience was pretty horrible for the first three shaves and I used a new blade each time.

I was about to give up on DE shaving but got a Rockwell 6C and what a completely different experience! Today I had one of the closest and most comfortable shaves with a Wilkinson and it was even the 3rd shave with the same blade.

I think with the right razor and improved technique this blade really performs!.

Razor blades can be very a very subjective thing. What works well for one person’s face may not work well on another’s. When I switched from the overpriced multi-blade cartridge razors to an Edwin Jagger DE89LBL safety razor, I tested all kinds of blades from many manufacturers such as Derby, Shark, Feather, etc.

The one that worked the best on my face was the English Wilkinson Sword Classic blade. It provided me with the right balance of sharpness, smoothness and longevity and is a great value. Some blades last two or three shaves before losing their edge.

Some can last a month. I use mine for five shaves and then discard them for a fresh blade (although they would probably last longer). For the price, they are definitely a good value even when compared to other lower-cost alternatives such as Harry’s or Dollar Shave Club.

They will not be the right blade for every face, but they are certainly the right blade for mine.

Hello and good day Ive been a avid wet shaver for years now and have tried Manny different blades and these are some of the best new blades you can get especially for the price these are the Wilkinson classic DE blades made in Germany now there are also the original old Wilkinson blades made in England those are even batter than the German made blades but also dont mistaken these for the Wilkinson saloon de blades those are not good at all the classic German made blades are far superior than the Wilkinson saloon blades but for this review these Wilkinson classic German made blades are better than most smooth, sharp, comfortable, fair priced, individually packaged, and long lasting if you havent tried them you should because they can easily become one of your top go to blades.

I decided to go back to safety razors about 3 months ago. I’ve been using the multi blade disposable razors for the last 35 years, spending a fortune on these shavers. The butterfly safety razor I bought recently gives a better, cleaner shave.

Replacement blades cost less than a dollar each, last a week each and are easy to load into the razor. I will not be going back to the hyped up modern and expensive razors.

Ive been using a single edged safety razor for awhile now. Kinda hard to find blades. When i recieved this shaver, i used it right away. Put a double blade in it and it shaved wonderful. Should have bought it sooner.

Feels good in the hand as well.

Good quality. Shaves well. Provided blades are good and sharp. Shaver itself is nicely made and functional.

Better shave, better price, save thousands. I saw a friends classic safety razer and decided to give it a try. I find its a better shave every time, the cost savings are substantial, You can even buy a blade sharpener and really stretch your money.

I order these in bulk. Family and friends have converted to these blades and razors as its so much cheaper and such a better shave. A set of conventional mach 3 blades would buy you 200 double sided blades and probably last more then a year.

I just dont understand why they fell out of favor.

Great blades. Makes me wonder why they can’t put blades like this in the cartridges they are charging a small fortune for.

First, it has a heavy handle. You may prefer this. you may not. I like the solid, heaviness to it. It has a terrific fit and finish. It feels like it would last a lifetime. The few I tried before I settled on this were cheap, Chinese made razors.

I was so pleased to get this quality blade for nearly the same cost. With the recommended Muhle blades, I get a close and smooth shave. I have a very thick beard growth. A+.

Overall, nice raiser. I like the feel of the hexagon handle, but because it is aluminum the razor does not feel well balanced in my hand. It’s very top-heavy. That’s really my only complaint about it.

The razor glides well and provides a good shave.

This blade works well in my Edwin Jagger 3One6. The first shave seemed a little rougher than expected – possibly due to the blade’s coating – but subsequently offered smooth, close shaving. The sharpness of this blade was outstanding.

I swapped it after a week but suspect that a single blade could last me even longer. These are clearly well-made and high quality blades.

I have always bought the 5 pack box from a different supplier who no longer sales these blades. So when I saw the 100 pack offered at this company I went for it. These are not the same blades that I have been using when ordered in the 5 pack, I called when these arrived as the packaging had lots of strange writing on it.

I only get 3 shaves with these blades not 5 days as the other blades gave. Researched them and saw other comments having the same problems and was told to order from Gillette on line from Boston Massachusetts.

I ordered 50 blades and they were all non-original, cheap duplicates. They lack the double wrappers of authentic silver blues, the blade logo looks bad, and the blades were dull and inconsistent, where some stick out more on one side of the shaver head than the other side.

Please look at the picture and judge for yourself. A google search of fake vs real Gillette Silver Blue blades also agrees with my claims.

I’m a returning customer, these blades are top of the line for me and if you have a mid to coarse beard, this is a good blade to suit your needs. These are so impressive because having coarse beard they last for several shaves; I use them for three or four shaves.

Some blades only last for two shaves, these blades glide on my face effortlessly and shave hair like a hot knife through butter. I really recommend them if you don’t want something as aggressive as feather in sharpness but with great smoothness.

I even liked these more than personna lab blues in regards to sharpness, these also maintain the edge longer for me than personnas. Today, I went to my local barber shop for a hair cut and beard edging.

Whenever I get my beard and hair done I give my barber some of my favorite blades. Well, today I gave him an Astra Super Platinum, he asked me right away for the brand. I told them these are called Astra Super Platinum.

He told me these are the best blades he has ever tried with a client in regards to sharpness and smoothness. The other day I gave him some feathers and he told me Astra are far better in smoothness and sharpness as well.

In fact, he asked me to get him some as soon as I can. He was very surprised how Astra blades glide in your face like hot knife through butter and maintain the edge longer than most blades in the market.

Give them a try, for seven dollars a 100 pack, you do not have a whole lot to lose; I am sure you will not be disappointed.

I can only compare these blades to others I have used such as Gillette, Personna, Dorco, and several others from India. When I first started shaving, I started with Gillette. When I used other blades, I always went back to Gillette.

Now, I am talking about the 1980’s before the twin blade revolution. During those times, Gillette gave a good close shave and I could literally get two to three weeks shaving on one blade. “Gillette, the best a man can get” was their slogan.

At that time, I agreed with them. Moving ahead thirty years, I feel lucky if I can get three good shaves off on one Gillette blade. I can say that they now compare closer to Dorco, which is also a very good blade especially for the price.

I have been comparing several brands over the last 6 months as I stated before. My final opinion is that Astra blades gives a better shave and more shaves per blade. I have been consistently getting four to five shaves per blade using Astra.

If you look around, you can find a box of 100 Astra blades for under $10. 00 and many times with free shipping. A three box pack of 15 blades from Gillette will cost $4 to $7. It does not make sense to pay more for a blade that doesn’t perform as well as a less expensive blade.

Buy a 100 count box of Astra’s and you will be covered for bladesfor an entire year. And the price beats the Blade of the Month Club. If you use a safety razor to shave with, buy the Astra blades. I do not think you will be disappointed.

I’ve turned into some sort of razor blade collector. I have dozens of different type blades from all over the world. It’s a fun, inexpensive and even useful hobby. I have paid over twice as much for blades and found them to be much lower quality.

With the exception of Feather blades, all the others have been hit or miss in quality. I’m not complaining, I’m not paying much for any of these, so my expectations aren’t that high. The Astra blades have far exceeded my expectations.

A close equal to the Feather blades. I generally figure I’ll get 5 comfortable days/shaves out of a single blade. I had an Astra go 2 weeks. And it was still pretty sharp. It generally makes a huge difference what razor you put a particular brand of blade in.

I’ve tried Astra blades in 3 different razors and liked what I found in all three. My current favorite for the Astra blade is the incredible inexpensive Ying Jili razor. The two are a wonderful match.

These are so sharp when new, I actually stopped to think “do I have a blade in the razor?”. I have had a couple nicks, but I attribute that to me not paying attention. Shaving with a double edge razor is not an autopilot sort of experience.

That’s one of the things I like about the double edge shaving “experience”. It makes me payattention to what I’m doing. Wave that puppy around a nostril and it’s going to spring a leak. In summary, I most highly recommend these blades.
