It’s been a few years since I needed a new chainsaw chain. Checked elsewhere and they only carried brands made in China. Remembering that Oregon chains used to be made in Canada I made a special trip to Canadian Tire.
Zero made in Canada anymore. Only a couple made in the US (including this one at time of review) the few others I checked were Designed in USA, but made in China. At any rate fit my Husqvarna 240 chainsaw just fine.
To spite the part lookup saying I needed a different one.
I bought this Oregon® S62 18-in chain for my backup saw. I heat with would and order logs which my wife and I cut and split ourselves (~ 7 full cords). The chains from Oregon are always top notch. They hold the edge well and stand up to quite a bit of abuse.
Chains can be sharpened easily with a chain sharpening grinder, or even when just honing by hand. I have put a quick tuning on the chain with a hand file and cut several logs with no issues. The new colour match system and well identified chain markings make it easy to find the right chain for your saw.

I don’t have a lot of chainsaw experience but wanted something for my house and 1 acre of trees behind my home. I’m working slowly to clear the area and leave the biggest trees for shade. I have used this a couple times and the biggest bonus is no pull start.
The power that I need is there and the balance seemed good to me even when using a 6-Ahr. I bought a 2 pack of High Output 6-Ahr batteries instead of a single 12 so I could use them on more tools and charge one while using the other.
I already have an 8, 9, and 12. My only real issue so far is with the oil. There is nothing that says what recommended oil to use and I was told there are now some thicker oils and thinner oils on the market.
I would at least like to see them have a recommendation on website or in paperwork. Also, when I store the chainsaw after using it leaks oil. It was stored horizontal on a shelf for a while (like I used to keep my gas chainsaw) and left a huge puddle of oil.
Recently I noticed a hanging nail slot on the back and it now has a place on the wall with a bucket underneath. The bucket has some drops that may just be runoff but nothing like the original puddle.
My brother has more experience than I do and I got to let him have a go at it. He’s not convinced it is better than his S* brand and he said his only concern was battery life and having enough batteries to run as long as he needed.
He was impressed with its weight balance and power also.
Not a very well built chainsaw, coming from a Husqvarna 435. The motor is plenty powerful and the battery lasts almost through a whole 1 foot pine felling, sawing, and limbing. But none of your other Milwaukee batteries are useful in this thing, so you’ll have to shell out another $300 for more run time.
Thats just too much expense for what feels like a not so great saw. The dogs on it are way too short. It leaked more oil than I liked. Liked to throw chains and wouldnt hold tension – it got loose or fell off 4 times in one charge.
I tried too much and not enough tightening. And you cant get this wet! Overall I could buy a LOT of gas chainsaw for the same price – you wouldnt accept this lack of robustness from a gas saw at half the price If you’re running it indoors or can afford to buy another battery or two, this’ll do.
If you have money to spare this would be a great truck toolbox addition, ready to go (keep the oil in a bottle) and plenty strong for making the cut through a few trees blocking your trail.
WORX WG320. 9 JawSaw Cordless Chainsaw – Safety and Performance The WORX 20V 6″ cordless chainsaw has a modern, innovative design and is fully enclosed. With a patented system for the automatic lubrication and tightening of the chain feature, this tool adds to the overall convenience of the user.
The main highlight of the chainsaw is the retractable design that enhances safety. You can use the chainsaw directly on the ground or pavement to avoid heavy lifting and sore backs.
The Jawsaw works very well for what I want it to do. It is relatively light allowing me to use it even with a chronic elbow problem. You do need to use some force on the back handle but if you just let the saw do the cutting it has not been an issue.
I mainly got the saw to cut a lot of smaller tree stumps that remained after using a chainsaw. It was really a safety issue because they were easy to trip over particularly when leaves fell in the fall.
Using the saw in a horizontal position I was able to get very close to the ground and cut the stumps easily. I also had no difficulty cutting branches and fallen limbs that were just under 4 inches in diameter.
The fact that it is battery powered is great since I live in the woods and was easily able to transport it without the extension cord. I wouldn’t say it has a lot of power but it was sufficient to do everything I wanted to do.
I’m a senior citizen and really like the added safety with this design. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. I think they make great products as I also have one of their grass trimmer/edgers which is excellent.
The customer service is also excellent. Prior to getting this Jawsaw I had purchased their 14 inch battery chainsaw. It was too heavy for me to use and I was able to return it without any difficulties.
I bought this because I had a small dead tree that needed to go. I usually use a cordless sawzall for this sort of thing but my husband kept giving me excuses about the battery for it. After waiting two months for him to never use his chainsaw I decided to buy my own saw.
It was easy to set up. The chain oil is included even though the tag says it isn’t. I have batteries I use in my string trimmer and blower (both which I love). I first went to the bothersome tree and in less than a minute it was gone.
Then I thought, I have this mostly charged battery, let’s see what you can do. I went over to some pine trees with dead branches on the bottom. I was able to cut a pretty big pile before the battery quit.
So big it took the backhoe and clamp to move it to the burn pile (aka rat condo). I was ready to quit long before the battery was. It was also quite easy to use. I’m 51 YO with scoliosis and RA. Pretty much anything I do hurts.
I have to triage my tasks because I usually don’t make it through the list. I’m not going to lie, this hurt my hands, but so does holding a coffee pot;) I expected my arm and shoulder muscles to be debilitatingly sore the next day but I honestly couldn’t even tell I did anything! If you’re on the fence about this, just go ahead and get it.
I bought the electric version and was very happy with it but the chain came off during a lengthy cutting job and I could not get it back on properly (no owners manual). I had used it many times before but I tried it on a larger branch and it became stuck.
my bad! My wife wanted me to buy the battery version and I did (still no owners manual) and I used it on a number of small branches today. THIS TOOL IS GREAT. It makes less noise than the electric one (I THINK.
) It makes a big job no job at all just like the electric one which I hope to fix at some point. Owners manual please! I don’t regret the electric tool purchase. I completed many projects in minutes! Buy this tool.
The ECHO CS-590 Timber Wolf chainsaw with a 24 in. bar is more powerful than today’s ranch and farm saws. It’s built for the toughest environments and features easy-starting, easy operation and quick maintenance.
The Timber Wolf chainsaw’s cutting power makes it ideal for cutting firewood on a regular basis.
Ive owned a Husqvarna 455 (22 bar) close to a decade and its fine everything I needed, but the sucker is big and heavy and its no fun climbing trees with that thing. Finally decided to get something smaller, and after quite a lot of searching and reading reviews I settled on this CS-310.
Shipping was reasonably quick, everything in the box was new and in good shape. Added oil and fuel, checked the chain tension and it fired up on the very first pull. There are no break-in instructions, so I just let it idle for a few minutes, then ran it up and down a bit, then began cutting.
Itll chew through anything you can put in front of it. Doesnt have the grunt of the big saw so you need to be sure to let the chain do the work and not exert excessive pressure on the blade. It cut through a 10 branch no problem, besides tons of smaller stuff.
Seems to start on the first pull every time, and it sips fuel gently as compared to the big saw. I put about 2 hours (intermittent use) on the first tank of fuel. Zero concerns. I like that its light, easy to start and still gnaws through wood like a beaver on meth.
No complaints at all. Definitely not as delux as the Husqvarna, but it also cost less than half.
I’ve worked for the power company for over 25 years, and laughed, the first time I saw an electric chainsaw. I am also a certified arborist, and I would not be caught without this saw, in my tool bag.
For small trees, and pruning, I couldn’t be more impressed, if I still climbed trees, this is what I would use to limb them, in a removal situation, before cutting any large sections. The saw does not bog down when using force to get through a limb or any piece of wood that I’ve cut, so far.
I’m very impressed and highly recommend this tool. this.
Very handy item. I have acreage and have 2 larger gas powered chainsaws. This item allows me to walk and inspect, I bought it primarily to cut low branches. It was powerful. The review asked me if it was a good value – I think it’s pricey for such a small saw, but not ridiculously expensive either.
I have used it for all of 30 minutes so too soon to judge its quality, however, Milwaukee makes great products.
I wish I had this song all along. Will definitely be getting a lot of use this year. So glad I finally decided to buy it. Definitely recommended for pruning. If your dealing with any branches over 5.
5″ or mostly branches over 3″ Check out makita’s 18 V saw with a 10″ bar. I did fell a tree with a 12×9 stump with this hatchet, but it felt like tool abuse. If course, the tool isn’t phased and still functions like new.

Pruning Saw is part of the M12 System which is fully compatible with over 100 solutions.
The good – it cuts great. Plenty of power. Weight/balance is very comfortable. Needs improvement – safety switch is hard to reach/uncomfortable. It would be better if it was like m18 hedgetrimmer safety switch.
Also, grip is a bit thick, but std for other M12 tools. Safety/kickback gaurd on top is awkward at first, but it works well especially if you keep non trigger hand inside it and use hoop to hold/support saw between cuts.
The bad – goes through chain oil fast. It is good that bar is well oiled, but internal pump is a bit aggressive considering limited capacity of reservoir. It needs refilling after about 2 Ah of battery use.
Xc batteries of any size are recomended as the extra bit of power reserve keeps daw running strong whereas a 2Ah if run hard/hot can drop voltage and stall if overloaded. Would buy again. Even though it is designed and ideal for 3″ it can cut 8-10″ in a pinch if you come at log from different sides.
We recently bought a house that needed a considerable amount of tree and shrub maintenance. My wife surprised me with the 6″ pruning saw for my Birthday. The tool is well built, Milwaukee, The teeth on the chain are standard chain saw size.
The tool is sold without a battery. I bought one battery and a charger. I did a considerable amount of trimming, branches up to 4″, without issue and did not exhaust the battery. For my purposes, I don’t see the need for a second battery.
The tool is nicely balanced, I found it easy to control. After several branches had been dispatched to the wood pile I had gotten the feel of the tool and found it to be easy to use. It is a very welcome addition to my arsenal of garden maintenance tools.
This guy is a five star general. Nice job Milwaukkee.

Never having had a cordless chainsaw before (I do have petrol and electric chainsaws) I was a bit unsure and sceptical as what to buy but after reading various on line reviews about different cordless chainsaws I decided that “voltage” was “king” so I plumped for the Makita 36V Cordless Chainsaw (DUC353Z) and was pleasantly surprised.
The two heaps of wood (of varying diameters) on the attached first photo were off one charge on a pair of Makita compatible 6. 0Ah batteries. I managed to get through a whole heap of wood (photos 2 and 3 before and after) using the Makita DUC353Z.
The great benefit of cordless is the greatly reduced vibration/noise and although this the same for a corded electric (which is a bit lighter due to not requiring the battery pack) you require either a trailing lead (which you can accidentally cut) with access to mains or generator (more noise!) and you wouldn’t want to use it in the “rain” due to potential electrocution! Overall the Makita DUC353Z is easy use, to set up and tension the chain during use, as well as, maintain/clean and I would thoroughly recommend it.
I’ve been using chainsaws since 1969 and this little saw works very well. Easily the equal of a small’ish petrol model, goes through 6 or 8 inch quickly and quietly. The weight including the batteries is similar to a petrol model, but not having to pull start, no fumes, petrol cans or noise is a real benefit.
I use a mains powered Makita these days for logging in the barn and keep a petrol chainsaw too. I think if you do bits and pieces on a farm, say pruning off lower branches then this saw is perfect. Just not having to pull start a petrol saw while holding on to a ladder is great.
I am a big fan of Makita 18v LXT and this saw is fantastic. I have used with two 4 Amp batteries and it runs for a good length of time and makes lots of cuts before it runs down – certainly as much cutting as you could manage with a petrol saw before needing a break.
I have also run it on 2 x 6 Amp bought off here and I wore out before they did! The battery indicators are useful to keep an eye on things and the safety on / off switch is easy to use and effective.
If you make a cut and then stop the saw for more than 10 seconds it auto shuts down so you cant accidentally fire it up and chop off a limb – but its positioned such that its easy to switch back on with your thumb while you still have the saw in your hand ready to use – very well thought out safety feature.
It relies on the narrow chain width to prolong battery life but that is also an advantage as it cuts quickly and accurately with little or no kickback. I have been removing tree stumps by slicing them up and burning them out and this works great.
Obviously if you hit the earth with the chain it dulls it very quickly and it needs resharpening – due to the chain length even this is a straightforward operation and doesn’t take very long – the tool less adjuster for the chain is great and makes it very easy toset up and maintain.
Buy yourself a decent chain file kit with a guide and check how to use it on Youtube – its really easy – I bought a Sthil set for the correct size of chain and can rub up the chain in 5 mins – this makes the saw really effective until you touch the ground again and blunt it in a microsecond! It comes in kit form in the box with a small can of oil – see photos of before and after assembly – easy to assemble but you will need a litre of Bio Oil pretty soon after your first set of batteries run out as it lubricates the chain really well, (without slinging muck everywhere), but does get through the chain oil.
All in all a fantastic product from a fantastic manufacturer and from Terrier tools it was a fantastic price – highly recommended.
