Best Product For Frizzy Curly Hair (2023 Updated)

I am a little surprised by all the negative reviews of this product, but perhaps this is best for only certain types of hair. I have very thick, corse hair that gets dried out easily. I have found this shampoo, plus the conditioner of the same line, and the Liquid Glass Sealant gives me the best result of anything I have tried.

The shampoo and conditioner are effective with only a small amount. They leave my hair moisturized and smooth. I gave the shampoo 4 stars because of the packaging. The container is made of such stiff plastics that once I get down to about half of the container left, it is almost impossible to get it out.

You cannot “squeeze” the container because it is so stiff. I finally had to (literally) take saw and saw off the bottle of the container and then scrape out the remaining shampoo into another container.

I received a sample to try it. After months using Vegamour and seeing my hair feeling really rough after every wash, I was please to feel the softness in my hair when I finished washing it. It was super easy to manage, brush, dry and style.

I think I hadn’t felt my hair so soft in a long time. The shine was incredible too! I took out one star because although the smell is good, it is the strongest smell I ever seen in a hair product. I saw some reviews praising it, but for those extremely sensitive to smells like me, it was a bittersweet experience.

I went to the gym everyday, and didn’t wash my hair for 3 days on purpose to see how long the smell would stay. Long story short, the smell was still these, pretty noticeable, 3 days later (and three workouts later!).

I am so tempted to buy the full size because I loved how my hair looked and felt, but I’m scared to death of the smell!.

After so many years of searching for the one, I finally found it! I have middle-aged hormonal over processed hair. I’ve tried everything to make it smooth and this is the only conditioner that works.

I don’t use the shampoo based on the reviews but this stuff is incredible and when I combine it with the Kerastase original oil, the effect lasts for days. Even if I don’t use the oil, when I use this conditioner I don’t have to put anything else in my hair for it to be sleek and without frizz.

I don’t even have to roll or brush it when I’m drying it out. The other reviews are Spot on about the bottle, it sucks but I manage. there is hardly any product but I also hardly need to use any and I comb it through.

I have really long hair- like, long enough to sit on. In the past I’ve used argan oil, but have found most varieties to be too heavy to use on my roots. This was offered as a trial size on one of my past Sephora orders and figured it was worth a try since it’s free.

I was a little wary b/c some of the heat protectant products out there can be too heavy when I’m not heat styling, and I generally air dry my hair nowadays b/c tbh blow drying my own hair is a pain in the arms, and back, and neck.

But I’m so glad I tried it, this stuff is AMAZING. I work the product through starting at my ends when detangling after a wash (CWC method, 2-3 times a week), then use a very light touch of the product on my roots unless I’m blow-drying when I go a bit heavier.

It’s made detangling much easier and the smell is pleasant without being overpowering. I’ll also sometimes use a spritz or two on my ends in between wash days before putting my hair into a bun or braid.

Very long hair can get weirdly crunchy and dry at the ends, but since I started using a touch of this on my ends I’ve noticed my ends feel smoother and aren’t splitting as much. Obviously I wish it was less expensive, but it’s a pretty reasonable price and doesn’t cause build-up.

my hairdresser (who is also my best friend’s sister) actually gave me this for free, and i was not told to review this and i was not gifted this by the actual brand, so my opinions are fully my own. at first i was super skeptical because it is a spray, which i don’t tend to find moisturizing enough for my curly hair, but i actually ended up loving this stuff! it makes my hair super soft and moisturized, and my hair hasn’t felt like this for a LONG time.

unfortunately, the only cons are: i don’t find a little to go a long way, i use about 3 pumps for each section of my hair (i section only two parts of my hair, top and bottom) and it takes a good amount of the bottle, so i can see this only lasting about a month or two (i have the normal size).

also, i hope they release a fragrance free formula soon! i’m picky about scents lol. overall, i do recommend this, but if you have low porosity hair i would stay away from this, since it has coconut oil, proteins, and silicones, all of which are good for high and medium porosities since they need to be sealed to keep in the moisture.

low porosity hair is already packed together, making it hard for moisture and water to get in. but if you have medium/ high porosity hair, i think this will work great for you!.

I used this conditioner on my bundles immediately after using the matching shampoo from this Shea Moisture line. I was a bit disappointing. The shampoo was great but the conditioner was dull in comparison.

The conditioner was way too thick. Although I got slippage, I would have liked a bit more. I actually got more slippage with the shampoo which is a bit. unexpected. However, when detangling using a shower detangler the conditioner allowed me to remove the knotted sections of the bundles.

Regarding moisture after washing the product out. it was okay but I was not blown away. I expected the product to work better. It gets the job done but other conditioners that I’ve used on these bundles have done a much better job.

The smell is nice and the pump minimizes wastage. However, because the product is so thick, it’s hard to get it through the nozzle and I had to pump several times to get the amount of conditioner I needed.

There is room for improvement with this product. The shampoo is superior and the effect of the conditioner should match that level of performance. However, as a duo they’re not too bad. If I’m rating the conditioner alone, I’d give it a 3/5.

However as a duo, they’re a 4/5. So considering, it’s not so bad.

Hair Type: Long/Thick/Curly After doing years of damage with heat styling and coloring, my hair wouldn’t curl like it used to. It was extremely dry and frizzy at the ends yet oily at the roots. I tried countless brands who tout their curly line of cruelty free products including DevaCurl, Aveda, and even Lush, all of which either left my hair feeling greasy or even drier than it was and still without the curls I once had.

I lost hope until I found Living Proof. After ONE wash using the Perfect Hair Day Shampoo, Intense Moisture Mask, and Leave-In Conditioner, my bouncy smooth curls were back and without frizz! My hair is much more balanced now, and even after just one wash in conjunction with the Intense Moisture Mask and Leave-In Conditioner, my hair felt healthy.

Other brands I’ve tried that tout moisture often just coat my hair with a greasy film, but not Living Proof. It leaves my hair feeling smooth, less frizzy, and naturally healthy.

Felt like I put frosting in my hair. Sticky sticky ugh. I have dry hair that frizzes easily, and adding this product just made me have dry, frizzy hair, sticky hair. I could easily run my fingers through my hair before, but after using this product (tried both when damp, and when dry, as bottle reccommended) it was just a sticky tangled mess.

I love every other Living Proof product I’ve tried, but this one did just not work for me at all. My hair needs hydration, and this just felt like sticky gel sitting on the surface.

This shampoo and conditioner is the best I’ve ever used. My hair is baby fine, curly, easily frizzy, and easily weighed down by hair products. This stuff works. I have an oily scalp and because my hair is fine and high porosity, I have to wash it daily.

I shampoo every day with this, it’s cleansing enough to clean my hair and scalp but never drying. I let the conditioner sit for 2 minutes. My hair has body, curl definition, and no frizz. Love this stuff and it smells pleasantly like fake bananas while wet.

I can’t smell it on my hair once it’s dry. I wish I’d had this all my life. It’s such a perfect balance. It never weighs my hair down, which is rare for fine hair. You don’t need too much of the conditioner.

I actually go through the shampoo faster, which never happens.

The revitalizing shampoo and conditioner leaves my hair so soft and shiny. I have 2b waves but this gives me 2a beach waves with some frizz day one. It looks pretty. But at the end of the day my hair falls straight and the next day I’ve lost all my waves.

This is without stylers. It does weigh my hair down a bit and that’s why I lose my waves. Smells really good and I’m still really shocked it makes my hair so shiny and so soft! Especially since there are no silicones and no polyquats in this line.

The conditioner bottles are way too small, I’m am a heavy handed conditioner user and this would get really expensive to do a 2-1 ratio or 3-1 ratio of conditioners per shampoo. So I don’t know I’m the long run.

With shampoo a little goes a long way.

I’ve been using this set for the past month and I gotta say: my hair loves it! It smells amazing (banana and coconut) and works wonders on my normal to dry ends. My scalp is naturally oily and this was one of the few formulas that didn’t increase oil production or weighted down my hair.

The shampoo is clear and lathers super well, while the conditioner is creamy but very lightweight. After washing it, my hair is very, very soft, untangled and hydrated. Not to mention the fact the it has UV protection, which is absolutely amazing for colored hair! Love it, love it, love it! 💛.

Absolutely love the way my hair feels after using the curl defining shampoo which leaves my hair with lots of moisture. It removes any knots in your hair. I will be a repeat purchaser.

I love this stuff. I have been using it for a while but would use regular shampoo once every 10 days or so. Then, for the last couple months I did not do any regular shampoo just this cowash. My hair was so good- less frizz, more shine, not dry and fluffy.

My hair is wavy. Then as an experiment I washed with shampoo yesterday. I wish I hadn’t! I had to use extra product to try to get it from looking too fluffy and straw like. I won’t go back to shampoo.

I am so frugal I hate to spend the extra money but I really love this. Also- I am surprised to see the negative reviews on the scent. It just doesn’t seem that strong or bad to me. I can’t even think of what it smells like right now because it’s a totally ignorable part of the product for me.

This is not the most effective co-wash I’ve tried. Firstly, the instructions ask you to divide your hair into several sections and spend a minute scrubbing each one. Who has the time—or the arm lactic acid resistance—for that? Secondly, while it smelled lovely, it didn’t get my hair as clean as other co-washes I’ve used.

Perhaps because of my lack of aforementioned time. If you are in a situation in which you need to wash your hair every day, this could work for you. But, when I’m hoping to only wash it once every few days, this does not keep my hair clean enough between washes.

Really love this product. I have fine, medium dense, straight hair. So while it doesn’t look fine, it absolutely is and any type of conditioner just causes it to grease up and feel so yucky. I bought this product on a whim to act a conditioner for my ends at first.

It worked fabulously at keeping my hair hydrated and happy without being greasy. Now I was noticing that my hair was starting to become brittle and falling out so I started a new routine to try to nurse it back to health while I grow it out.

I wash my hair twice a week, once on Sunday and once on Wednesday. On Wednesday, I solely use this cowash and it has left my hair feeling reborn NOT weighted down. Of course, it is not as light and fluffy as shampoo, but it is doable, I can put my hair into braids, bun etc and hide any grease.

I add about two quarters worth onto my hands and really scrub all into my scalp for at least 2-4 minutes. Rinse, repeat with a nickel size amount again and rinse. It’s helped my hair feel strong, healthy and happy!.

I’ve been using Salon Daily Conditioner for years. It keeps my locks moisturized and healthy. My hairdresser always comments with amazement on what GREAT condition my hair is in when I go in; I’m pretty sure because she knows what ‘torture’ she inflicts on it (curls + color + highlights.

) Nothing makes your day like ‘hair compliments’ from other curlies. Plus I love that it is junk free & smells great.

I am in love with Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo! This is my first time trying Pureology and I had no idea what to expect. The first thing I noticed about the smooth perfection shampoo was the scent, I loved the hints of cocoa.

Upon first application I decided to use a small amount and I am glad I did, a little bit goes a long way with this shampoo. I have really long hair and I only had to use a quarter size amount or less.

I want to point out that I always have to use a handful of shampoo when I use my usual drugstore brand, so I was shocked by how little I had to use of the pureology. I massaged the shampoo in my hair for a good 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out.

My hair felt so soft and clean without feeling stripped at all. I typically have a lot of fallout when I wash my hair, but noticed less strands of hair coming out while washing. I followed up by using the pureology smooth perfection conditioner.

I also use a quarter size amount or less and it was more than enough. I focused this conditioner at the ends of my hair and put whatever was leftover on my roots. I let the conditioner sit for the recommend time of 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out.

I felt like it took no time to wash all of the conditioner out. My hair was less tangled and overall felt so much healthier than what I am used to. I used the smoothing lotion on the ends of my hair, blow dried my hair and was so amazed by the end result.

The end result after I blow dried and straightened my hair was incredible. My hair was less frizzy and more straight making it so easy to straighten. I would like to add that my hair is very wavy/curly and frizzy after washing.

The price for the Pureology Smooth Perfection set is a bit expensive, but honestly it is worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this Pureology line of haircare products. Pureology Smooth Perfection is my new Holy Grail of haircare.

This shampoo impressed me! As someone with colored hair that’s naturally a bit wavy, I felt like this shampoo did a great job at reducing flyaways and frizz. I really love that it’s color safe, I have dyed red hair that typically fades pretty quickly but the color continued to stay vibrant while using this shampoo.

I normally air dry my hair, but I found that blow drying it straight worked way better with this line. I used the smooth perfection shampoo, conditioner and smoothing lotion, and felt like the three products really worked well together! I personally didn’t like the scent, I thought it was a bit too strong, but it does fade quickly.

One thing I really didn’t like about this shampoo is that it doesn’t help with oil control, so my hair was getting oily within a day or two. I typically wash my hair every 3-4 days and found myself washing it way more often when using this shampoo/conditioner.

Because of that, I do think that I’ll switch back to my precious shampoo when I finish this one, but I definitely still recommend this shampoo for people who struggle with dry and frizzy hair.

I used the shampoo in conjunction with the conditioner and they worked so well together! They made my hair so soft and smooth I didn’t even need to use a detangler spray (which I ALWAYS have to use on my naturally wavy and frizzy hair).

My hair still seemed a little frizzy after drying, but by the second day it was much better. And one day I straightened my hair, which I almost never do anymore because it would always leave my hair feeling dry and it would get tangled very easily, but not this time! It was soooo super smooth and soft, it was great! I couldn’t really say how well it protects your hair color as mine had already faded before I was it out, but I’m sure it’s comparable to other shampoos and conditioners that protect dyed hair color.

The only con for me would be that I don’t love the smell of the shampoo and conditioner. It reminds me of a typical fresh deodorant scent (like secret), which is not terrible, I just would prefer something more fruity.

Otherwise it’s a great product and I will buy this in the future!.

I have super thin curly hair. I’m from MS and just moved to Denver CO. Going from humidity to dry weather really did a number on my curls. My hair was so dry frizzy not shiny and no bounce. I’ve tried so many different products.

This products gives my hair life!! I am sooo happy I found this!! And whenever I go back home to Mississippi it makes my hair even better. It’s perfect for humidity and dry weather!! This is a must have!! A little goes a LONG way! Definitely recommend to anyone who needs life back to those dull curls.

I received this product for free from Influenster and Old Spice in exchange for my honest review. I love the bottle and the scent of this product! This leave in conditioner smells so good, like a hint of coconuts and easy to get out of the tube.

My hair was already mostly detangled from the conditioner, but I finished off the rest of my detangling with this conditioner. It was much easier to detangle my hair and I used both my fingers and a wide-toothed comb.

I noticed a lot less breakage than usual. It also left my hair noticeably shiny with body after blow-drying. I recommend this conditioner to those that need a good product to detangle and prime hair before using heat on it.

Truly the best smelling, feeling and cool looking shampoo I’ve ever used. I agree with the other reveiwer saying better than Kiehl’s. In fact I tossed mine out already and am sticking with this awesome brand.

Ladies, you have to use the WHOLE system to see true results. Can’t just use shampoo and conditioner to see much of a difference. Pending on your curl type, you need to use the finishing products after the shampoo and conditioner.

I was skeptical at first, so I purchased the “Starter Kit” for my curl type. When I used all 4 products together, WOW!!!!! My curls have never looked so good! It’s not cheap when you go into buying all 4 in full size.

But, oh so worth it! I’ve recommended this line to several people, and they have all agreed with me you have to use the entire line to really get the full benefit, especially the Curl Defininf Gel. That’s a life changer!!! My hair dresser LOVES Living Proof everything, and recommended this line to me.

Not useful for curly hair. Doesn’t detangle and it’s impossible to comb my hair in the shower. Which if you have curly hair that’s when a lot of us widetooth comb it! Doesn’t smell good. Reminds me of a free sample from a budget motel.

Scalp super itchy. I love the curl cream from LP, so I gave it a shot but I should’ve listened to the reviews. I got the smaller one to try it out before getting a big bottle and had to use more than usual trying to condition my hair so it’s almost gone already.

Might be good as a second conditioner after combing it out with a different product, but there’s just so many other better products out there. Really don’t recommend skip this and try something else.

My hair has been struggling with dried ends. Because of this, my hair knots up very easily. Deep conditioning has been a staple for me while I wait for next hair appointment. This product came out at the perfect time! It was so hydrating on my curls and so easy to detangle my knots with.

My first love will always be the hydrocreme soothing mask but, this will definitely be my second favorite. The consistency is slightly thicker, so it’ll work great for intense deep conditioning treatments.

It left my curls soft and frizz free and was very gentle on my curls.

I’ve used a lot of masks in the past, some that did not work and others that have made a huge difference – this one works like a charm! Since my hair is bleached and color treated, I use it as a deep conditioning mask.

The product itself feels really nice on the hair and has left my curls visibly looking a lot healthier. It’s a great product for an even greater cause!.

Makes my curls curlier and smells nice. Haven’t used it enough yet to see long term results but think I would repurchase if this became a permanent product. My hair seems bouncier after use and works well with the conditioning wash.

My hair generally needs moisture from highlighting over the years but prefer this one to the colour range cause that didn’t do much for me.

I love Pacifica products in general, and I had been looking for a shampoo that was good for my curly hair. I had tried several things, and I had been having a hard time finding the product that was just right.

You know, you can feel it when it’s just right for you. At the time, I had only heard of Pacifica. I hadn’t purhased any of their products, this would be the first one. When I say I loved it, that’s an understatement.

I REALLY LOVE this shampoo. It met every need of mine, and I’m so glad that I found it. The health of my hair since using it has imporved so much. It smells amazing, I love pineapple and coconut scents, so the pineapple was right up my alley.

It has hyaluronic acid, and that’s something I was also looking for (because I was putting it in my hair myself after each wash). It has improved the definition of my curls, and it makes them look really pretty when I style my hair.

Not to mention, I get the “what’s that smell, it smells so good!” comments daily.

I love this leave in! It smells amazing (although if you’re sensitive to scents I would not recommend this because it’s strong), it leaves my hair so soft and frizz free, and the bottle lasts a really long time.

I will say you have to be careful about how you apply it, even just a little too much can leave your hair feeling a bit greasy and weighed down. I apply about five sprays throughout my shoulder length hair, comb it through, air dry, and then comb through once more and it’s perfect.

An additional note, for whatever reason this product leaves my hair very straight. My hair is naturally poofy and a bit wavy, but air drying after using this spray leaves it smooth and mostly straight besides the ends that can get a bit flippy.

No poof in sight! I don’t know why this product straightens my hair, but I love it because it cuts waaay down on the amount of time and heat it takes for me to straighten my hair. Plus it’s a heat protectant! I love any product that can function as a conditioner and a heat protectant together.

I have fine, long (mid-back) hair and an oily scalp. I wash my hair every second day. I had decent volume in my youth, now my hair has about half the volume it used to have. I usually air dry my hair.

Most leave in conditioners I have tried have either been too heavy or have done nothing useful for my hair. This one actually does a nice job of making my hair smooth without weighing it down. I spray the conditioner on the bottom two thirds of my towel dried hair, avoiding the area near the roots because of my oily scalp.

The conditioner definitely helps with detangling and my hair is wavy without being frizzy once it has dried. The scent is quite strong when you spray on the conditioner – not bad, just strong – but the scent disappears once your hair is dry.

I bought a small bottle to test out the conditioner and will definitely be buying the large bottle going forward.

I received a free sample of this to try and review. My hair has a curl when air-dried, so I was hoping this would be a better alternative to using gel and a diffuser for volume. I tried this three different ways.

I used this as an add-on to my dry hair that was curly first. It made my hair seem oily, so I definitely wouldn’t use it that way, even though the curls stayed. The second way I used it was adding it to damp hair and letting my hair air dry.

This actually loosened my curls and left them less defined, which I didn’t like. They did stay the same all day, and the smell was nice. No oily feeling and probably the best way of using it. The last way was using my diffuser after applying this to damp hair.

I lost almost all of the curl with this product in when I used the diffuser. I’d say if you add this to damp hair and let it airdry, it will give you the best results. I prefer the way my hair looks with a mousse more than this for sure.

It may work better only very curly hair.

I want to love this product, it really is amazing, but it weighs my hair down on day 3 and over. I typically wash my hair once a week, but when I use this I have to wash at least three times a week, which I hate because I lose more hair! My hair is fine so I’m sure that doesn’t help, maybe if I had thicker hair this wouldn’t pose an issue.

It smells amazing and can compliment any perfume you may wear. It definitely defines curls and/or waves and holds them in all day! It doesn’t too much stop the frizz though; I found my hair just as frizzy as before.

Overall, if you have fine or thin hair with deep waves or curls and wash daily or every other day, this product is for you!! However, if you don’t wash often, probably not the best choice as you will need to use it daily for curl refreshing and it doesn’t layer up well for daily use on the same (unwashed) hair.

I did only have to use two pumps for my mid-back length hair, so a little does go a very long way!.

Purchased this shampoo on impulse as my usual shampoo was nearly finished. Normally I read the reviews but on this occasion I didn’t. I wish I had now. Easy to use from the tube, so handy for the shower but the first thing that struck me was it didn’t have a particularly pleasant scent! It was difficult to lather and seemed to tangle my hair.

I washed it twice, which I don’t usually need to, nor do I need to use conditioner, and my hair seemed to tangle even more and felt rough! A light towel dry and I attempted to use a wide toothed comb, my usual, and my hair was so tatty! My hair dry, now looks more wavy than curly.

Such a waste of money, I paid £8 for it in Tesco.

I’ve always struggled with my hair. It’s so thick, curley, it grows outwards rather then up or down. It gets frizzy far too quickly, so I’ve always decided to keep my hair short. Until my wife told suggested the shampoo/conditioner range, in addition to this I also bought the scrunching gel.

And I’ve noticed a BIG difference already. My hair feels better, looks better, falls better, my curls have become curlier- which I didn’t think was possible and most importantly my hair is finally locking in moisture which Its never done with any other shampoo.

Bought this shampoo/conditioner because I love the curl cream that this brand has. I have extremely thick 2C-3A hair. This conditioner dried my hair out to the point that I would get out of the shower and it would take me 30+ minutes to detangle my hair before styling it.

My hair felt like hay in and out of the shower. My hair would be in huge clumps and I was also losing huge clumps of hair. I switched back to my old hair products and after just one use my hair was immediately better.

I do NOT recommend for anyone who genuinely cares about their hair’s health. I bought this because it was significantly cheaper than my old products and I loved the curl cream, but it’s worth it to splurge on the good products rather than damaging your hair with this.

I won’t be using any of these products anymore. Also, it smells a bit like flea shampoo. Not even worth one star.
