Let me first say that I am now a 70 year old woman handling a 20 x 40 swimming pool. I need all the automation I can get. I was the very happy and proud owner of a Dolphin Premier since 2014. I could not have been happier.
I never had a problem until recently when the motor really started slowing down. I tried replacing it with the same model and was very disappointed. It barely cleaned the waterline, got stuck in the corners and “floated” down the sides when reversing.
I found it hard to believe the new one could be so different – and in such a negative fashion. I returned it and started research for a different model. I settled on the newest E70 model and once again am happy.
The new features are great. I love the ability to use the two different types of filters at the same time. The top basket is fantastic and the size is great. The phone app is great too! I have to use the app to manually steer it for pick up since it will climb the nearest wall which may not be the right location for me.
I gave it 4 stars rather than five because even on the “Ultra Clean” mode it does not clean the entire bottom. There’s always a few leaves left behind. I am able to use the app to manually maneuver it to those spots to clean.
(Luckily I have a smart phone!) Also, it has a tendency to get stuck on the drains – but it wiggles itself and eventually gets unstuck. And last, but not least let me say how great it was dealing the The Pelican Shops.
They answered my questions over the phone with a great attitude and seemingly a lot of knowledge. I had my robot before I knew it. I liked their free warranty repairs including shipping. Let’s hope I never have to use it!.
Robot performs so much better than my suction cleaner. It picks up the fine debris/dust and the larger debris. I have a zero edge pool and needed a cleaner for my catch basin. My suction cleaner couldn’t reach it, but this one can be used for both since I just need to plug it in for power.

Very nice, even though its not a wall climber, it more than makes up for that with thorough scrubbing of the pool floor. I actually use this for my inground pool(10,000 gallon) clean its spotless in about an hour and a half.
You do need the fine filtration basket though. that, combined with occasional floculant, keeps our pool sparkling clean!.
So far so good. This is my third pool bot this season. I tried two other brands that did not work well. It is quite expensive though. My previous Smartpool cleaner was awesome and only cost $300. This one was $550 but is the closest to my original so far.
It cleans much better than the other two that I tried. It also has a neat bucket that you clean instead of those bags. Hopefully it will keep cleaning well.
Love this little robot vacuum! Does a great job and especially like that you just plug it in and let it go. nothing to hook up to your skimmer and debris gets collected in the basket inside the vacuum.

I probably should give this 5 stars, since it does a good job of spot clean ups and picking up sand. I’d like to have a bit more suction, but it was probably a trade off between weight, cost and performance.
It works adequately and the unit is easy to maneuver and empty. This is SO much easier than dragging out the 30 ft hose. The battery lasts about 45 minutes and the motor doesn’t slowly lose power but abruptly shuts off to protect the batteries.
The plastic clip to hold the attachment on broke on the 2nd use and should be redesigned to be easier to use. I adapted shop vac attachments to make it easier brush the pool walls and the plastic clip-over-tab design is a weak spot.
Still, I’m satisfied with performance so far and can recommend this unit.
Opening pool after not really taking care of it over winter — I’m blaming ***. anwho Wife and I have suffered through previous years keeping pool clean with ones that hookup to the pool filters. We have one of those larger Intex steel frame (12000 Gal) style pools so we know with the pump you get what you pay for (to be fair the pump works fine for the pool).
It was always a hassle even as I’d upgrade connecters etc. So this year with the pool a mess and we started “cleaning” 1 hour later and wife and I just starting to boil I’m like fudge it, there has to be a better way.
Found this bad boy. 100% worth it for us. Is it the best thing ever, no. Is the thing to clean your above ground medium size pool. Yes. Does it have a few “issues” with letting stuff out when you pull out of water.
Of course, but you still got a lot more out. I find if I power it off under water and hold the front end up before taking it out (hard to do when on the stick, but once again I digress) there is very minimal spill back.
In the end what went from a multi-person marriage destroying activity to a very easy one person (not me) way to clean the pool. Battery is long enough that outside of cleaning up a winter mess should be fine for your average cleaning cycle.
The only fault would be for the really stuck on algae we have to go in the brush. If it had a way to have a hard flat brush for algae build up, well I don’t know what more I could ask for at this price.
This little vacuum really works. The key is slowing down and letting it work. The bottom of our pool always had small amounts of sand and dirt on it that we could feel when we walked around. I could see small disturbances on the bottom in a couple of areas when I would brush the sides.

Does a great job except for getting stuck at steps going into my in ground pool. However if l let it go it gets itself loose. This takes 20 to as much as 30 minutes. Any suggestions?

don’t ever buy a product from pool supply unlimited. they pass the responsibility for inaccurate advertising on to so one else. I bought a pool vac and they advertised 40 ‘ of hose and I received 36′ they won’t make good for 4’ of hose.
Leslie sales person advised me that product is covered by 5 year manufacturer warranty. The leaser hose was cracked in couple month after I purchased this cleaner. I registered my equipment on the web properly.
After long waiting on a phone I was informed that the hose is not covered. Now four years later the wings are degraded and turbine is not working properly because of wear. These part are not covered as well.
Then my question. What is covered? The handle of the device? I will never recommend to by Hayward pool equipment based on my experience!!!.

This is super easy to use and you can tell that the suction is good. The only problem is that the bag that catches all the debris is pretty small so it doesn’t take long if you have leaves or bigger stuff in the pool.
The other problem I found was that when you take the vacuum out of the pool it releases all the water from the unit, releasing junk back into the pool. This seems to be easier if you get it out really quick and put it down next to the pool.
However, when you open it up to clean out the mesh, if you don’t hold it properly all the junk dumps out right where you just put the unit down. It is all avoidable but just a nuisance. I am definitely glad I got this but wish I could tweak a few details.

This product performs well on the floor of my above ground pool. The only “con” that I can mention is that it takes a while to get at every corner of the pool, so I run it overnight. A caveat worth mentioning is that it is important to calibrate the amount of suction that is being created by the pool’s filtering system.
My cleaner came with a device to do this. I think if the suction is too great, the pool cleaner will be adversely affected and possibly break.
Two years ago I chose to buy the Baracuda MX8 Residential Suction Side Automatic Pool Cleaner and it was a BIG financial mistake. After only just two months the hoses kept cracking at the connection.
When I try to replace the cracked hoses it was so shockingly expensive. To make matters worst, our pool, due to it’s design, have several unique corners. The Baracuda MX8 would get stuck every-time trying to clean and navigate those corners.
My sister-inlaw had a OLD Hayward Classic cleaner I borrow It to try in our pool and I was shock at how fantastic it work without getting stuck. In addition the hose was extremely durable it was the original hose that came with the clean.

Not impressed with this vacuum at all. For almost $500 I feel it is definitely not worth the money. For the 6 hours I have it running it climbs the same wall. hangs out at the main drain and never does the entire pool.
I have called support they said buy an drain bumper (which is irritating considering the price for this unit). They also said to move the jets down to circulate the water downwards which I have done.
I am going to end up putting the handle on it and manually cleaning the pool which negates why I bought it in the first place.
I’ve been an owner of Pentair cleaners for years and have always been happy. This model, however, has not performed to par. It often sticks, particularly corners, and won’t move for hours if at all. While the band often has to be replaced and does help, it still does not clean the pool as well.
When it works, it cleans “ok”, but more often than not, substandard. I’ve attempted a return to see if possibly this particularly unit may just have something about it that causes this. But when taken in for service check, nothing materially found wrong with it.
I wouldn’t purchase this again but would consider other cleaners that may perform much better.
Our outdoor rectangular pool size is 14’ x 28’ with a 6’ deep end. The pool is enclosed in a screened “aluminum cage” structure. The Durado does an excellent job keeping our pool clean and free of “blown in the wind” dirt / dust / pollen accumulation on pool bottom and vertical walls.
I still make it a practice to manually “brush down” the pool walls especially at the waterline tile and swim out seatings / steps about every week to 10 days. All of these items are seriously overpriced. The motor itself would probably be $10 to $20. Electric motors rarely fail. Usually it’s the capacitor that goes bad. But the capacitors on this thing are embedded in plastic and cannot be replaced.
the robot doesn’t trap small particles, blows them right out at the fan!! When I saw the mesh bag has a few large vent holes in it, i was kind of skeptical on it. I just used algicide and clarifier in the pool, so there are quite some dead algae at the bottom of the pool.
