17 Best Pokemon Go Attackers And Defenders (2023 Updated)

The controller is honestly better than the official pro controller in my honest opinion. I’m not a diehard gamecube fanatic or a super competitive smash player so this is coming from someone who uses the controller for general use.

It’s super great for some motion control titles like Mario Galaxy in the 3D AllStars collection. I love gyro aim with the controller so BOTW was great. You might get drift, I did but it went away somehow.

PowerA offers a replacement incase you get drift but thats a lot of mailing back and forth or something (I never submitted a claim so I wouldnt know) so keep that in mind.

Pros: Better alternative for those who don’t like the tiny joycon buttons. Works great, I have not had any issues with it. Easy to pair. The controller art is nice. Cheaper than the Switch Pro controller.

Cons: It feels light. Not a lot of weight to it which makes it feel like a cheap plastic toy. No headset jack. Batteries drain pretty quickly depending on how much you use this.

What a hilarious toy! It was really amusing to guess the answers, although one has to pack some good knowledge on Pokemon. And you will really need patience as well, as the questions go fast and sometimes are a bit difficult to understand (as in literally – they sounded a bit “grainy” or muffled).

As far as we got, the questions did not seem to repeat themselves, though I would probably need to sit down with my kids for the whole duration of the game to be able to give you a proper answer regarding this.

I would only like to recommend the manufacturer to add a switch that selects between volume modes – “not so loud” and “LOUD”, because so far the latter seems to be the only setting. This toy is medium to small size, therefore easy to store and won’t clutter the game cupboard, of what i am quite pleased.

The gadget comes with batteries already included, so that’s a bonus.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my 9 year old child. They love Pokemon. I had a little go on the demo mode while still in the box and it seems really fun. I think they’ll love it. Only complaint is that it’s REALLY LOUD and I don’t think you can turn the volume down.

Yay for kids toys. ha.

I purchased this for my Grandson for Christmas so it’s to early to say if he likes it or not but he did ask for it so I guess that he will. It came with demonstration batteries in it so I was able to see that it was operating ok.

If I had played the game or seen it played my score may have been different but I have to rate it so I have given it a 6.

This controller has my ideal ergonomics. It’s comfortable to hold in my large, long-fingered, man child hands. The coating on the frame is smooth and feels nice to the touch. The controller is matte black, so it doesn’t show dirtiness.

This is a blessing and a curse. Your friends won’t be afraid to use the controller because they won’t see it covered in grease and months of cheesy snack stains, but you may be less inclined to clean it.

In my experience, not cleaning this controller regularly will lead to buttons sticking down when they are depressed. I do not eat food while I play games, and I don’t think that I’m a particularly heavy user.

You must be diligent about cleaning this product. This is an issue with all controllers but I believe I experienced this issue earlier than with other controllers across a variety of consoles. Outside of this issue the product is wonderful to use.

As mentioned it feels great to hold, you can keep a solid grip on it, it pairs easily and has great range, and the buttons/sticks have a nice tactile feel and are very responsive. There are grip buttons, and a button under the middle of the controller.

I haven’t found a use for these yet but I appreciate having the option. The controller charges via a USB-C port which I am super happy about, and the controller holds a charge for much longer than I would expect.

Despite the gorgeous artwork and colours, this controller will not last long. I have had 3 of this same model: 1 of which was a blue/silver motif, same series, one of which was a warranty claim from Power A, the company in question.

In all 3 instances, the left analog stick would begin to ‘drift’ downwards, or flicker erratically. Makes gameplay or even menu navigation unreliable. This defect was present within 2 months of use, and in the case of the warranty replacement, started to appear within 2 weeks.

The defect is consistent and not been corrected even in later runs of the same model. Further, the controllers are not 100% compatible with the Nintendo Switch. Even when browsing settings and attempting to re-calibrate, the Switch will NOT recognize the controllers as valid and will not allow you to calibrate the analog sticks or any other settings.

Your only chance of a refund (unless you obtain it from a retail store and return it) is if you had bought it directly from the Power A website, and only within 60 days of that purchase. Do not buy this.

Not sure if I purchased 2 faulty controllers, but more than likely just not great build quality when it comes to joysticks. All I play is Mario Kart, so after a month my first ones left joystick felt like it was broken inside.

Would randomly get stuck in the down position causing drift. Returned it with protection plan to get a replacement. Used second one a little less to see if I could prolong the life of it. Well second one had the same issue after 2 months.

Build quality just doesn’t hold up like I need it to. I also have the PowerA nano controller just like this one and the build quality is soooo much better in it. Had it for 9 months now and still no drift or stick issues.

If PowerA would improve the quality of parts used, I think this would be a great long lasting controller. Will be returning the second one in hopes i can exchange for another Nano version.

I bought this controller about three weeks ago and I’m already having major drift issues with the left stick. I didn’t even use it for the first week I had it because I was still waiting for my Switch to arrive.

So two weeks of (admittedly moderate to heavy) use means that every now and then Link (BOTW) moves forward at a stumbling snail’s pace instead of full speed or tries to walk towards the camera when the stick is in neutral position.

I can fiddle with the stick for a minute to get it back to working for another hour or so before it starts up again. Some might argue that you get what you pay for in this controller, but I went with this controller because even the much more expensive Nintendo Pro controllers have complaints about drift issues.

I figured that if I was unlucky enough to get a problem controller, then at least I wouldn’t have paid $60 or more for it. I still expected this to last at least 3-4 months. There is a two-year manufacture’s warranty apparently, so I may try to work with that, but other’s have complained that it’s a mess of a company to work with.

I will likely give this controller another go (I need to get one before the drift renders my current one unusable) just because it’s a quarter of the price of the pro and I don’t want to throw extra money towards a controller with similar known issues.

My biggest gripe is really a non-issue for most. The design on the controller is skewed/distorted and it bothers me a little. Quality of the controller is good for the price, but I wish it were heavier, even if it’s just added weights, the thing is seriously light.

A downside I did notice is that you can’t use these unless it’s docked, it has a normal full size USB to Micro USB cord, while the Switch itself has a USB C port. You might could find a USB C to Micro USB cord (if they exist) but you’d have to notch the Micro end if it’s got a bigger plug head.

2 buttons you can remap on the fly on the back are also a really nice addition to a controller at this price point, usually those are only found on 2nd or 3rd party offerings at $100 or more. So far I’ve only had about 8-10 hours of use on it and I can report no problems.

I needed a controller to play BOTW. I decided to give this a try as it was the middle ground option in terms of PRICE (about $50. The pro would have been $70 and there was another for $25) I now see why it’s less expensive.

Upon taking it out of the package it just felt really cheap and it’s super light. I could look past that. What I can’t look past is that I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now and the drift is absolutely horrible.

I could be not even touching the controller and my character in game will be walking to the left. There’s a lot of parts in the game that needs me to be precise and this controller prohibits that. I should have spent the extra $20 on the pro.

When they announced Pokémon Lets Go! I was skeptical at first, with all the forums and such explaining what it might be and how the game would be like. It is a completely different game from the mainline ones that we are all so fond of for sure.

Some hate it and some love it, I have grown to love it just as much as the others in the mainline. There are many very noticeable differences including no wild encounters when in tall grass, caves and floating on the water with your Pokémon.

That alone made some people hate Lets Go. For Let’s Go there are two games just like the mainline games 1-8, Pikachu and Eevee are your choices for the starters. In Lets Go your buddy Pokémon Stand on your head (Eevee) or on your shoulder (Pikachu) and you can have another Pokémon from your party follow you around when you take them out of their pokeball.

Pokémon Lets Go is a Gen 1 game that can also connect to your Pokémon Go game on your phone or tablets. You can trade from your PoGo game to Let’s Go but not the other way around. Surprisingly the two, Pikachu and Eevee, have some major differences in themselves.

In Let’s go Pikachu and Eevee there are game specific Pokémon you can get in each version. In order to get the ones from the game you have to trade with someone who has the other or trade them from your PoGo account if you have them.

(Mentioned in photo attached) On top of that the only way to get the legendary Mew is by purchasing the Pokeball controller which is $50 in USA and to trade it from the pokeball when you purchase it new.

Pikachu and Eevee both also have special moves that they can learn too. Pikachu for its special moves can learn electric and water moves where Eevee can learn a vast majority of move types because of the many evolutions it has.

Unlike the mainline games you can NOT evolve your buddy (starter) Pokémon at all unless you hack it which is not recommended if you plan on playing online mode. The great thing about this game being on the Nintendo switch is that you can play in TV mode or in handheld where in the previous mainline games you could only play in handheld with the gameboy or DS systems.

On the handheld you can play with your buddy and change its hairstyles! In handhelds when you catch Pokémon you use the tilt sensor instead of dock mode where you have to use one switch controller like the old Wii Systems.

I would highly recommend this game for someone waiting on the Gen 8 coming out later in 2019 or for someone looking for something slightly different from the mainline.

Alright so I’ll admit; after coming from Pokemon: Sword/Shield to Let’s Go: Eevee, it was an adjustment and I was not super into the game at first. The throwing style threw me off which also encouraged me to never play with the switch connected to the TV and only play handheld.

The storyline seemed more meant for children but after beating the first two gyms, I got more into it. I loved the classic 150 Pokemon that you’re able to catch (even though about 20 of those you have to find someone online to trade with you because they’re only exclusive to the Pikachu version, I suggest Reddit), and the graphics were amazing especially on the OLED switch.

I loved the close relationship that you develop with Eevee and that you can pet it and give it treats. The gyms get especially harder so you do need to know your types and what they are weak/strong against.

I loved being able to catch Mewtwo in the end but wish that Poke Ball Plus(es) that originally came with the game weren’t such a rare item and so expensive to come by these days because you can’t obtain Mew as a mystery gift anymore.

There is a solid storyline after beating the Elite Four and I ESPECIALLY love that you can ride around on Charizard/Dragonite/Aerodactyl, it’s loads of fun and makes traveling way quicker. Overall, once you get into the game it is loads of fun and I can honestly say that I enjoyed this game as much as Sword and Shield.

Now to wait for Gen. 9 to come out at the end of 2022.

Had great fun playing this game. This was my first experience playing Pokemon on the Switch and it was much more enjoyable than my Nintendo 3DS experience. I enjoyed being able to see the Pokemon in the wild rather than just tripping over them suddenly.

It made picking and choosing which ones to go after much more enjoyable. I also loved that the Pokemon were “actual size”, as in Onyx was HUGE compared to a smaller Pokemon. Sound quality was well made and even sounded good through small in-ear headphones.

Just playing for a few hours here and there in the evenings, I was able to complete the game in about a month. Not including the “after game” extras. Overall a very laidback game to play.

This game is a remake from the ground up from the old Pokemon yellow game where it followed more closely to the main character of the TV series, Pokemon. It’s the most successful franchise since Disney because it caters to all audiences and demographics.

There is so much more that can be done with this game primarily because Pokemon go was so successful and still successful to this day. You can bring your caught Pokemon from the app to your let’s go Pikachu or let’s go Eevee games.

And although Eevee has more to offer, to me Pokemon yellow is what showed me how fun and compelling games can be. I learned to enjoy more games and even RPGs and Nintendo to some extent. The sequel series Pokemon Sword and Shield show how the franchise has gotten so stake that they needed a paywall for the other half and yes although let’s go Pikachu and let’s go Eevee did that, they didn’t force you to buy the PokeBall plus accessory to enjoy the game more, they rewarded you for buying it by acknowledging Mew and letting you use Mew officially.

If you play the game handheld than the best way to capture the Pokemon is with the gyro sensors. But if you want to, you can still use the PokeBall plus as a controller and it takes getting used to. This game looks good.

To make it very clear, I am a long-time Pokemon fanatic. Ever since I was a child, Pokemon has held a special place in my heart. From playing the games, watching to the Anime series, to collecting toys and Pokemon Cards.

I cannot explain the excitement and anxiety I have until a new game releases- each new release sets my expectations HIGH!!! Pokemon Sword and Shield did NOT disappoint me in the slightest. I was really pleased to finally play on an update console with the new style graphics.

Big tick on it being aesthetically pleasing. I was immediately impressed. Controls as always are simple, and easy to quickly pick up for anyone, even children and novice gamers. You definitely get that British feel in the Galar region (and this is coming from someone who lives in the UK).

A few things were a little off, but I’ll overlook it- such as cringey dialect and phrases. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Was a bit weird. But again, not a hugely irritating factor. Gameplay for battles was no different to other Pokemon games, but I do like that.

Nostalgic, and you’re able to dip right into it. But the visuals and animations always have some surprises. The Dynamax feature is reallyyyy nice. I wasn’t expecting to see some of the visual Dynamax changes to the Pokemon- which was fantastic.

There were a lot of different, and new features in Sword and Shield- at first I’m usually skeptical about these as they truly do make or break a game. Maybe not for everyone, but for me, I do like familiarity in Pokemon.

Great to see new Pokemon introduced, including Legendary ones. It’s a nice addition to existing pokemon fans and new ones. The Wild Area and Dynamax dens are cool updates to the gameplay, easy way to level up and obtain Dynamax Pokemon for yourself! I actually really enjoyed the Camping feature, and extremely thankful to have the ability to play and level up friendship with your Pokemon.

One of my favourite features in the franchise over the years have been Pokemon Amie, and contest shows- although the camping play wasn’t as fun as these, it definitely is needed. I could honestly go on and on about this game, but I’d rather leave it for yourself- you won’t regret this game!!! Just don’t go and spend all your money on fancy outfits like me!!!! My guilty pleasure.

I got this game for myself right after it came out and I play it all the time! My sister in law came over a few weeks ago and decided to create her own profile on our docked switch and we all played my version of sword and had a great time, so for Christmas, my wife and I decided to get my SIL a switch lite and this game as well as Animal Crossing New Horizons and let me just say it is a great experience! There is a lot of backlash from hardcore fans who want Nintendo to go in a completely different route for the new Pokémon games, but as someone who has been playing since 2007, I think it’s one of the best games they’ve put out so far and the DLC really added to it! The main storyline is relatively easy and it’s obvious that it is trying to appeal to a younger and newer audience, which I personally don’t mind and completely understand.

I think for those specific reasons, I was able to not only get my wife, but also my SIL interested in the game. It has great new Pokémon for the region and the wild area is such a new and cool thing to explore and they really expand on it even more in the DLCs which I personally think are 100% worth the extra $30! Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing are two new features in this game as well as opposed to old games and overall I would say it’s just new and fun! It has hints of the old games and some nostalgia, but for the most part, it’s a new story and it has something very new to a Pokémon game and that’s how user friendly it is for online play.

To me, it is a fantastic game, I’m probably gonna buy shield for myself soon and I would recommend this to quite literally anyone. You could have never played a Pokémon game in your life and know nothing about it and still have fun with this game or to the opposite side, you could have been playing since red and green came out and still have a blast on this expansive and interactive game on Nintendo’s newest and arguably greatest (thus far) console to date!.

I like many others grew up playing pokemon and have continued to support the franchise as an adult. This game adds a few updates like the wild area that have not been done before in Pokemon. These changes are nice but the truth is that this series has been glacial in its updates and feels and often looks like a game from 10 years ago.

This series needs drastic changes to rival any premier modern RPG game from this generation but sadly seems doomed to continue to coast on its name value. I hope we eventually get to see a version of Pokemon that feels next gen.

I would reccomend this for kids or huge fans of the franchise, if like me you have felt burned out by the last few of these you may want to consider skipping this one.

The game is really fun! It’s a classic Pokemon game, meaning you are a trainer that is designated a starter Pokemon and must venture out to defeat several gym leaders to become the champion in the Pokemon league.

Instead of random encounters, you will now see Pokemon or a “!” when you are near an encounter, therefore they can now be avoided more easily. Pros: -fun and easy to pick up for all ages -multiplayer options like online battles, dynamax “raid” style battles -camping creates a dynamic where you can heal out in the wild and increase Pokemon stats and levels -portable or docked modes -pokeball plus support (not as controller) -you can play with one hand! Great for injured, Veterans, disabled! Cons: -much too easy.

Now all Pokemon gain experience in your party even without experience share. Most trainers encountered only have one Pokemon. I’ve not been sent back to nearest Pokemon center once! -does not include all Pokemon in the pokedex.

No excuses! -cheap Galarian variant Pokemon -DLC. It’s $30 for the expansion pass, an extra 50% of the cost of the game, to play about an extra 20% more content, all of which used to be included in the mainline titles as post game content.

Not anymore. Pay up! You won’t even see all of the new generation Pokemon without the pass! You can’t evolve some of the Pokemon you catch in the game without the pass! -Expansion pass is not for both games! You must pay $60 to get both expansion passes! What used to cost you $39 for each game ($120 for all three versions each generation excluding x and y, black and white) about $120 total is now $180! Oh, and you don’t get 3 different copies of the game that will grow in value! Eventually they’ll close servers and the $60 you spent will disappear and not grow to $300 in value like say Pokemon emerald did.

-tiny, linear mainline map. Less open world than gen 3. Sad. Neutral: -no voice acting. Everything must be read, which is great for helping kids learn better reading comprehension, but in 2019 and 2020 seems WAAAAAY outdated.

-pokemon still make midi noises. A giant dynamax Pokemon that sounds like a pager/dial up tone is supposed to be intimidating? -clumsy controls. One handed mode will not allow you to rotate camera in wild area.

-graphical capabilities could have been much better optimized. This looks way outdated and switch hardware isn’t an excuse. Have you seen The Witcher 3 on switch? Doom? BOTW? It can handle higher fidelity.

Do they really expect me to shell out $30/$60 for the expansion passes when I’ve already bought both games? Overall it’s just okay, but i hope they learn from these mistakes. If not, this is my last time investing into Pokemon unless it’s the old stuff for collection.

This same review will be posted for shield, where the only difference is the legendary and some swapped gym leaders and trainers, very very miniscule Pokemon variation.

This is one of the best, if not the best pokemon movie. I’m not going to pretend it’s a masterpiece, but for a film aimed at children it’s pretty solid. A decent mixture of story and action, it’s not all about the battles, but they are there.

Anyway if you are a pokemon fan, or have a kid that’s into it, it’s worth a watch. While the movie follows Ash and the gang, Lucario is pretty much the central story focus, being awoken in a very different time after suffering what seemed to be a betrayal/abandonment by his trainer, Sir Aaron, he ends up trying to cope with the whole situation and help Ash recover pikachu who is taken by Mew (Who has its own subplot going on).

Ash happens to have a similar aura to Lucario’s trainer and also happened to be wearing a similar costume, which plays on the fact that Lucario takes out most of his frustration towards Sir Aaron on Ash.

Along the way everyone learns more about the events of Lucario’s timeline and what actually happened.

Pokémon is amazing. I remember this movie being new in the mid 2000’s, and I’m glad to be able to own a copy. However, I wish there were Blu-Ray copies available, DVD is okay, but 1080p Full HD resolution with 16:9 Aspect Ratio would be way better, and without it, it’s not as enjoyable.

But I still highly recommend this too Pokémon enthusiasts, you won’t regret purchasing this!.

I bought this for my grandson who loves Pokemon. He has several Pokemon toys but this will be his first Pokemon movie. I’m sure he will love it.

My 6 yr old loved it. He waited anxiously for the delivery day and it came surprisingly sooner than expected. Easy to assemble. The belt is adjustable, although is on the smallest setting. This would be entirely too large for a younger kiddo.

Good quality for the price. Great pandemic distraction!.

I bought this for my grandson, who is a Pokémon fanatic. He loves this belt. He’s 6 years old, so it needed to be adjusted to the smallest size to fit him. It can also be adjusted to fit a grown man.

Cute grandson loved it. Only issue is it will not stay adjusted to the size we choose. So it keeps falling off of him.

Even though this is a gift for my grandsons for Christmas. I can assure you they will love it. Both of the boys are so “into” Pokemon” cards right now.

Really enjoyed the pulls from the boxes. The boxes were also shipped quickly, packaged well, and arrived undamaged. Highly recommended store!

To start with, I’m not a long-time Pokemon fan by any means. I didn’t play my first one until a few years ago, so I don’t have any nostalgic or fond memories of playing the games or watching the show as a kid.

This game really embodies a lot of what I’ve come to know about the series, the good and the bad. There are things it does excellently, and there are things that I think really needed some reworking at best.

Gameplay: For the most part, the gameplay is standard Pokemon. You run around capturing monsters and battling trainers, with the goal of eventually becoming strong enough to be crowned as the Pokemon Champion – the most powerful Pokemon trainer in the region.

It’s honestly a lot more fun than I’d expected as a gameplay loop, and if you’re looking for that, you’ll definitely get it with this game. Now there are some things that are different between this game and the previous entries in the series.

To start with, tall grass behaves a little differently than you might be used to. Rather than having completely random encounters in it, you’ll see Pokemon spawn, and you can choose to engage with them, or try to avoid them.

This makes it so that you don’t have to deal with an obnoxious amount of battles when you’re just trying to get to the next story area. Some of the Pokemon will chase you for quite a ways if they notice you, some will approach and stop at a certain distance, and some are so ridiculously fast that you have no chance of getting away if they notice you.

I think it’s a great way of giving more control to the player, and I utilized it quite a bit as I played. If you’ve ever played Dragon Quest XI or Final Fantasy XIII, the random encounters often behave like they do in that game.

I should mention that there are still encounters in the grass that are a little harder to avoid – an exclamation point will appear and the grass will rustle, but you won’t see a Pokemon. Those are random encounters that are still avoidable, but it’s a little harder to do so.

Another new thing about the game is what they call Dynamaxing. Essentially, you or your opponent’s Pokemon (only a singular one) will grow really big. and that’s kind of it. The attacks don’t really do a whole lot more damage than normal ones, and most of the Pokemon in the game do not change their design at all when they do this.

There are a select few that actually have a design change when they Dynamax – in that case it’s referred to as Gigantamaxing – but personally, I never had any in my party that could do this at any point.

Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing is only possible in select battles, however. Most gym battles and a few story battles allow it, but otherwise you’re not going to encounter it very often. I expected it to be an annoying mechanic to deal with, and it kind of is, if only because it doesn’t really change anything you’re doing as much as you’d expect for how long each dynamax animation is.

By the way, it only lasts 3 turns, which I understand, but at the same time it makes it even less of a challenge or threat to deal with when you encounter it. There are a lot of quality of life improvements from previous entries here.

For example, you don’t need to go to a Pokemon center to access your box. You can swap Pokemon from your box to your party and back from the regular menu, and it’s extremely helpful. You don’t need to go into the key items menu or make a shortcut to use your bike – you just press a certain button once you have it.

You don’t need to teach Pokemon TMs or HMs at all to navigate the area – most of those sorts of things have been streamlined in some way, which I have mixed feelings about, to be honest. Pokemon Centers are home to the nurse (of course), the PokeMart, and an NPC who will do anything from name rating to move forgetting, all in one location.

It’s really convenient and I have no qualms with it. In terms of building friendship with Pokemon, the main way to accomplish that this time around is by going camping. In most of the overworld, you can set up camp.

Your party of Pokemon will be out, strolling around the campsite, interacting with each other, getting stuck on an invisible wall for no apparent reason. You can cook curry for them, using berries and various ingredients you’ll find throughout the game.

It can restore HP, grant experience, increase friendship levels, and if it’s REALLY high quality it can remove all negative status effects, including fainting. It’s annoying because it’s difficult to tell whether or not you’re doing a good job during the cooking minigame, and for a consistent experience I’d recommend using the button inputs to do the game rather than using the motion controls – they will cause issues more often than not.

You can also play with your Pokemon – you can play fetch, have them attack a toy (when you have a 7 foot tall Pangoro attacking you in first person, it’s a little terrifying) and you can also chat with them.

There are a LOT of glitches with this system – Pokemon will get stuck on nothing, they’ll get stuck on each other for amusingly long periods of time, they will pick up a fetch toy and then just not bring it back ever, they’ll get stuck in loops where they stand there doing the same animation and making the same noise for 10 straight minutes, it’s honestly pretty hilarious, and I got a lot of entertainment out of it.

I think this is the best they’ve done with making you as a player feel like you’re connecting with them – rather than only having the option to forcibly feed them dozens of treats, you can actually play with them and I think it’s really cute.

Overall, the gameplay is standard Pokemon with some QoL improvements and a new gimmick that feels a little bit half baked. It’s a lot of fun, and aside from Dynamaxing being underwhelming, I have nothing to complain about.

Story: You know that thing in every other Pokemon game, where the apocalypse is actively occurring as an unbelievably powerful creature destroys time and bends space, and then everyone tells a 10 year old that the fate of the universe lies on the shoulders of them and their pets? It’s something that’s always kind of bothered me.

But it doesn’t really happen here for the most part. Of course it happens a little, but without spoiling it, it ends up being saved until the very last moment and it’s actually explained pretty logically.

I really liked this change because I always thought it was weird that nobody else in the region could handle the situation or even attempt to control it. The rival is extremely annoying in my opinion.

There comes a point where, basically, your dinner plans get cancelled and then you and a whole group of people decide to storm a private corporate headquarters as a result. No, I’m not joking, and no, it doesn’t make any sense in context either.

It’s a major plot turning point and it’s frustratingly bad. I wasn’t expecting anything profound, but. really? It’s like they had two halves of a story and didn’t know how to connect them together so they just had an AI write the connection and called it a day.

It’s acceptable at the lowest possible standard. I’ve experienced worse stories in games, but this one was aggressively mediocre, even compared to most other Pokemon games. General Stuff: The online in this game ranges from being okay but badly implemented, to being outright broken and barely useable.

If you want to join a Dynamax raid, good luck. It will show one is available to join, you’ll try to join it and it will give you some vague error that doesn’t tell you what’s actually going on – most of the time, it means the raid party was already full.

If you start one and hope people join you, good luck there too. You’ll be waiting for 2 and a half minutes for nobody to join the raid half a dozen times before you get a single person to join you. You can technically play without real players – they’ll add NPCs to fill the missing slots – but the NPCs are worthless.

They never bring effective Pokemon (they will sometimes even bring a useless Magikarp), if they DO have an effective Pokemon they will almost never use a move that actually does damage, they’ll just buff their stats literally every turn without attacking until the raid ends.

You might think it’s a bad AI, but there are a number of battles in the game where the AI is very clearly well designed – it will not hesitate to one shot your whole team and it will always find a way to win in a war of attrition – so that’s no excuse.

In my opinion, there is no real post game. There’s a small story bit that lasts maybe an hour and a half, there is a battle tower, but aside from that you’ve got nothing. There are no difficult, new, or interesting dungeons to explore.

There are no areas where you can use a TM/HM you didn’t have before to explore a new section, that aspect is just. not here. There are only a grand total of 3 legendary Pokemon in the base game. One you catch for the story, one you catch in the post-game story section, and one you are literally handed at the battle tower for no reason.

That’s it. It’s. disappointing. Especially since you can catch nearly all legendary Pokemon if you buy the $30 DLC. Conclusion: It’s not bad. It’s pretty par for the course with a few things that are different from the normal formula – the issue is that for every good thing they bring, there is a catch somewhere, or there is something else that brings the experience down.

If you like Pokemon, it’s worth a play. If you don’t like Pokemon, this isn’t likely to change your mind. If you’ve never played Pokemon, this is as good a place as any to give it a try. I would rather rate it 3.

5 stars, but half stars aren’t possible, and I didn’t think it deserved to be rounded up, to be honest.
