20 Best Pistol Crossbow For Home Defense (2023 Updated)

I bought this specifically to teach my 5 year old to shoot targets. I expect the rough edges may cause string problems, but it shoots close groups at 15 feet. It has a safety that auto sets each time it’s pulled back.

I find that very helpful for teaching. The cocking lever is easy enough for any adult, but too much for a child. Adding to the safety. Bolts are kept in a pistol safe to keep his hands off when not supervised.

This is not a Toy!!! I could take small game without any problems. Safety First!! Firearm Safety Tool!!!.

Works well, After some sighting in will shoot 6″ groups reliably, better from a bench rest. stock sights are decent, red dot is better, Be sure to buy extra bolts, as it only comes with three. Buy some bowstring wax as well, as it doesn’t come with any, and you’ll need it to keep the string in good shape.

I also bought a spare sting just in case. Hits pretty hard; with my old high-density foam crossbow target (for hunting crossbows), the bolts will bury in up to the fletching, some shots went so deep I needed to use pliers to get them out they were buried completely with the nock end of the bolt flush with (or slightly past) the face of the target.

This is from about 10-15 yards from the target; very impressed. Doesn’t come with detailed instructions (there are some basic ones on the back of the box), but there’s video tutorials on Bud K and Youtube on putting these together; Be sure to check them out.

Definitely a fun little crossbow. Only gripe I have is the FR plastic safety. I would prefer a metal safety lever like on the model with gold side-plates, but it seems solid enough for the job. Also, stringing the bow can be challenging for some; Look online on how to make a Crossbow stringer; you can make one from paracord; It’ll help a lot!.

This crossbow is so much fun to shoot. super easy to put together, just stick the bow in the slot up to the alignment markings. Put the rubber pads on both sides of the bow and put the metal pad in the front between the lock down bolt and the pad.

Make sure the side of the metal pad with the dimple is facing front so that the lock down bolt screws into it. Stringing the bow is best done with two people, even if you are superman, you still don’t have three hands, and using the ground scuffs the rubber tips.

I don’t know if it is truly an 80 pound bow but it can do some serious damage. First time I shot it, it went through the Styrofoam target my daughters practice archery on. Lost one of the metal darts when testing how far it would shoot.

Going to buy a whole lot more of them. Self cocking makes it super easy to load. The auto safety is a little annoying, but, I will get use to it.

So having read all the reviews of this pistol crossbow I decided to take a chance, purchase one for my own and find out the highs and lows of it. For starters the directions though fair, maybe for someone like me can elaborate just a little more with better photos or something but none the less I got the bow set up.

So I would say maybe minus half a star for the manual. The next was I immediately installed a red dot and could not get the red dot centered. Maybe it’s me, maybe the red dot, maybe just the height of the mount so I’ll deduct half a star there.

For operation wise and with the use of the sights that came with it already I give this bow 4 stars all day. It is accurate once you set it. Maybe a little too accurate since one bolt smacked the plastic fletching of another bolt.

Thankfully the broken one still flies true. What’s not mentioned is that this bow comes with 3 bolts and I’ve fired them into a bag target and a 3D deer target. Safe to say I’ll stop shooting the deer target because it’s tough to get it out.

yhe trigger pull is pretty hefty, the rear sight slides off easy, no tightening screw but in general for a pistol crossbow at the price range it works as intended and shoots great. I won’t stack it up to an actual crossbow.

I bought this directly from Bear because while doing research I found Bear had the best price. I was very surprised! But it doesn’t stop there. This is my 2nd pistol crossbow with the lever self cocking method.

It appears many companies use this design or the are all manufactured in the same place. There are sight differences but they all seem to be relatively the same. But this model had newer upgraded features I wanted and Bear had the best price.

I originally planned to upgrade the limb for more power. To my surprise this thing has nearly the same power as my upgraded pistol crossbow with the Steambow upgraded limb from GoGun. This thing is great as is!! I am trilled with my purchace!! 226 fps with plastic bolts measured with a chronograph.

(my other one originally went 195 fps with plastic bolts. Now with the steambow limb 236 fps).

Luckily I still have all my fingers as it has gone off on me 2 times in a row with the safety on, and not willing to risk a 3rd time. Only to notice later the safety only prevents the trigger. It doesn’t stop the string.

The only thing that is stopping the string is a hair of plastic. I have contacted Bear xl with no response and told bass pro will not do returns on it as it’s it’s firearm. It sucks because i purchased $50 worth of bolts for nothing now as it is not safe to use.

I wouldn’t even feel comfortable selling to someone as it is too dangerous.

I have a slightly older version of this pistol crossbow. The only difference is my version does not have the adjustable stock. Raccoons are a huge pest in the urban neighbourhood I live in. I have used this crossbow to hunt them in my backyard sitting on my back deck.

It shoots accurately and is plenty lethal at close range. Typically it takes 1-3 torso shots to put a raccoon down. After you hit them in the torso with it around their front legs, they arent running anywhere fast though.

Would recommend if you want something small and discrete for pest control on your property. Even if you live in a populated area, this pistol crossbow has enough power to put down pest animals, without being overpowered enough to put your neighbours at risk.

Bought for my wife. I told her to make a target….and practice with the bow. She nailed in dead center first shot at 20 ft. Perfect for home defense !

Sight sucks. Was tough to get string set, I did it myself. easy with two but grrrr I’m a man lol its a straight shooter and not a toy I shot a mouse in my house. well it was stuck on the sticky board but yeah lol.

I bought this one month ago and I am very happy with it. I have been using an Older Excalibur now that I got from a friend. I wanted a new crossbow and did all the research and reviews from written to YouTube.

I had it down to Barnett’s (1)Whitetail pro STR (2) XP390 (3)TS380. Ultimately the WT pro STR $100 more and came with a better scope and 20 more FPS but heavier. The XP was so light weight but had a lot of plastic pieces instead of aluminum and very few reviews but did have the tactical stock.

I was able to hold and shoulder all three crossbows in the F&S store. The rubberized grips and sound deadening on parts that can be noisy on other crossbows was thought through on this one. I could tell it had a quiet Hunter in mind.

The Aluminum trigger and stock adjustment button are nice touches that gives it the well built feel and a tactical stock for adjusting to variable layers of clothing you will wear during a season or an additional hunter to fit their build.

Scope is adequate. Adjust the fine tuning at the eyepiece and get it to your personal focus and it is just fine. I sighted it in at 20 and 30 yards and WOW is it accurate on a dime size bullseye! Rubberized grip, foot stirrup, stock and forend grip plus string stoppers to minimize noise of the force of 380 FPS.

For under $500 it is a heck of a weapon.

I used this crossbow straight out of the box. Spent only 3 hours sighting in the scope and testing number of clicks per range. Shot a doe first day out at ~80 yards from a 20 foot tree stand in the sitting position.

Got a double lung shot and the bolt went straight through the deer, threading between the ribs! This is my first crossbow, and after many failed long distance compound bow shots, I’m extremely happy with its ease of use and accuracy.

I’d be confident shooting up to ~120 yards with this crossbow, although I cannot speak much on its durability as I’ve only used it for one season.

I did a lot of research at this price point and decided to go with the TS380. I upgraded from an old Horton Summit HD150 so this was a big step up for me. It’s well made, compact, has lots of nice appointments like an adjustable stock and finger guards.

I’m shooting PileDrivers with RAGE Hypodermic Crossbow NC broadheads and it’s dead accurate. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with this crossbow. The consensus on the scope from other reviewers seems to be that it isn’t very good and I may upgrade it next year to an illuminated scope but as for now it suits me just fine.

I purchased the R29x Sniper on 9/18/2020. The crossbow shoots very fast and accurate. On 10/23/2020 the cable snapped while my 8 year old was shooting it. The limbs shattered, scared us both, luckily he wasn’t injured.

This crossbow costs $3000 and barely lasted 30 days. I was told by the dealer at the time of purchase that Ravin has the best customer service in the business. I challenge anybody to try and contact Ravin customer service prior to making a purchase.

The number takes you to a recording and asks that you email customer service because if you leave a voicemail, they might not be able to help you in a timely manner because they are so backed up. Also, the bow shop has been waiting on replacement parts for over 2 weeks.

I basically missed bow season because I chose to buy a Ravin R29x for $3000. I do not recommend this product or company.

The R10 is a fantastic crossbow! To call it an entry level crossbow just doesn’t fit. Laser accurate, up to 410 fps, reliable, lightweight, well balanced and a great trigger. Speed and power for any big game.

An entry level bow is just not a good description. It doesn’t fit. The R10 has put down numerous deer like a death ray! Can’t say enough good things about it!.

I used my Ravin R26 crossbow with Ravin aluminum expanding broadheads during the 2020 Illinois deer bow season. The practice sessions prior to hunting proved the crossbow to be extremely accurate at ranges of 50 yards plus.

I harvested a nice 8 point Whitetail using this combination. The power of the crossbow combined with the Ravin broadheads did the job with a complete pass through, causing the deer to expire within 30 yards.

The blood trail was easy to follow and left large deposits of blood from point of impact to the location of the deer. I am well pleased with the crossbow and have no cons to add to this review. A satisfied 76 year young bow hunter.

They are both 20 long and 17 wide bow tip to tip uncocked and have identical 6 power strokes. The Viper ss is made mostly of a carbon/plastic material with a only few metal parts and is very light weight, the Cobra is all metal mostly aluminum is about twice as heavy as the viper and the only plastic parts on it are the 11mm dovetail rail, pistol grips and trigger.

Positives. The Viper is really light weight, has a superior safety/anti dry fire, string catch and release which will make youre string servings last much longer, 2x 20mm picitany rails and finger guards.

The Cobra is more accurate, penetrates more and is easier to cock even having a heavier 80lb bow on it. Negatives. The viper makes more noise ( twwaaanggg ) when fired, only moderately accurate, harder to cock even at only a 50lb bow and worst of all the top 20mm picitany rail has a steep downward slope to it, so steep I could not use a red dot scope on it, I could not raise the dot up high enough to zero the scope and had to remove the red dot and go back to the open sights.

( I did put a laser on the bottom 20mm picitany rail and could zero that just fine but it did not improve accuracy. ) The Cobra has a weak 11mm dovetail rail, lousy safety system only locking the trigger ( no anti dry fire and can misfire if bumped just right ) and is hard on string servings with the grav drop string catch system.

So if youre just looking for some twang and bang fun and dont want to worry about serving repair or hitting the bulls eye all the time, the viper is a good buy but If you want something thats really accurate and hits good and hard the Cobra is the way to go, just buy a cheap serving tool and some 100lb test twisted Kevlar kite string to reserve it with.

I get 500+ rounds from the Kevlar servings just keep the rail greased and you can learn to serve a bow string in 10 mins on YouTube.

Nice well made xbow. I did not measure the draw weight but did Chrono several arrows after assembly. Mine came with 3 plastic arrows with metal tips. They fly at 170 fps. My other plastic arrows “Speed Track pack of 60” do not engage the anti dry fire mechanism so I removed it.

It’s as simple as punching out a single pressed in metal retainer for the anti dry fire arm. All it took was a few soft taps and it slid out and I removed the dry fire arm. Now I can fire the widely available plastic bolts easily.

These bolts fly at 190 fps so a bit faster than the included bolts. The reason for the dry fire issue is the original bolts are a little thicker so can move the dry fire arm up out of the way for the safety to be disengaged otherwise you cant disengage the safety.

You can probably add a little step with a dab of glue or tape on the anti dry fire arm so the aftermarket bolts engage it. I opted to just leave it out, the safety engages automatically each time you draw the string back anyway.

The xbow is completely composite material even the trigger is plastic which I dislike. It’s accurate at 15 feet where I sighted it in. I aimed for an old hole in ply wood from my pellet gun and the arrow went right into that hole I was aiming at.

Verdict is its not the advertised FPS. Expect 170 to 190 fps with plastic bolts. Dry fire arm should be removed or altered to allow aftermarket bolts. Trigger is plastic. Its light weight and feels well made other than a plastic trigger.

This is my first crossbow so I don’t have anything to compare it to but I can say I was honestly shocked at how powerful and accurate it is. I have not purchased a target block yet and was taking single shots at a homemade target made of thick layers of cardboard propped against the bank of a dirt road.

Once I had the scope dialed in I consistantly hit bullseye at 30 yards and cut the same hole the majority of the time shooting from a rest. I was never more than 1/2″ off the original hole. I was shooting the field tips it came with and it easily pierced about 8″ of rigid cardboard and buried itself into the bank each time.

This is a very powerful crossbow! I do not believe there is an animal alive this crossbow cannot put down with the correct broadhead. It is quiet, accurate, powerful and deadly. The only cons I can see are that it is not exactly light nor is it the easiest thing to cock.

But again I have nothing to compare it with. It is very manageable however and once I got my technique down i was able to cock it quickly every time. If it is in your budget you may wish to consider purchasing the cocking device.

I am considering adding it but it would really be more of a luxury than a necessity. Overall this is an amazing crossbow for the price and i highly recommend it for anyone that has an itch to own one.

It was powerful as they say and shot very well. Reloading is easy and is light enough for my wife to use also. The cross bow it self is great. Assembly instructions are very vague. There was nothing on centering bow in gun, easy enough to figure out, also loading the string was have a friend help and nothing in any technic way on How, like using both hands to pull back evenly as the friend has to loop the end over the bow end or which way the end caps go on the ends of the bow, once again I figured it out.

Not everybody in the world is mechanically inclined a little more on the instructions would help. The rear site is the worst and sloppiest engineering and all it needed to improve it out of the package was a small shouldered bushing over the adjustment screw and between the sites spring to stabilize it from moving from side to side.

I am still working on the lower part of the site to keep it from moving around at this time. A simple flat sheet metal peace grooved wide enough to slide in the groves that are already there will work.

Or even if removing the site and aim from the hip would be easier. So the site needs work and the bow is great. Will enjoy hunting and target practice with for as long as it last.

Ok so it took me a 240lb man and a strong 16yr old just to get the bow string on, which was fine with me bc we eventually got it i with strengh & learning from random you tube videos. Anyways we went to shoot it.

I let my bf shoot 1st. It was fast like I expected. Then my shots & his after. it was crazy slow, had a bit of arch to it, and couldnt make it to the tree 9-10 feet in front of us. Im so disappointed.

I was so excited to receive it in the mail, assembled it, got help to bow it with the string and after one shot it now is like a kids toy. I was so irritated about it after that that I just put it in one of my closets.

I wish i could get my $ back.

The good: all metal construction, light and compact because lacks the tail of the self cocking systems. Has quiver to hold 5 bolts. The bad: No rail whatsoever to attach accessories. Lacks power! Because of the shorter draw lenght.

If compared to 80 lb and even 50 lb pistol crossbow with Cobra system (E. G. Prophecy 80 and Viper SS 50) this is the less powerful! It is much less powerful!.

This is my 1st crossbow and I couldn’t be happier. I went on a week long bow hunting trip for whitetail deer and decided to try the crossbow over my bow. I killed a buck and a doe at 30yds respectively and they only ran about 30yards and died.

What a great crossbow! Also, I lost one of the rubber string dampeners and called Crosman and they sent me 2 replacements for free. What a class act. Crosman will get my business and recommendations for sure!.

I purchased this crossbow because I felt like my old crossbow wasn’t powerful enough. I was loosing a lot of deer that I shot. It really sucked. This bow is on a different level. It blew straight through my target.

I got a new target that is made for more powerful bows and it blew through that at 25 yards. It cost me $30 to sight this crossbow in because the feathering is ruined on all of the bolts I shot. This is a compact powerhouse.

The price is great for what you get. I chose to use a different scope than the one that came with the crossbow because I had a better one laying around. I can’t speak about the quality of the scope. It took me a few attempts to put it together right.

Not really the instructions fault. I was rushing. Didn’t read them at first. The adjustable stock is really a nice feature but it does wobble a little. I don’t understand the top lever for the safety.

No clue why it’s there. This is definitely worth the price. Buy extra bolts for sighting in or have something that will stop the bolts.

I bought two of these crossbows for my son in law and I to hunt deer with right at the end of bow season. It took only about 12 shots to sight in the scope on each. I was surprised at how accurate it is.

It is about as accurate as a rifle over short distances. out to 55 yards or so. For some reason the arrows that come with it are 370 gr while most replacement arrows sold by Walmart are 415 gr. which complicates sighting.

It’s draw weight is 185 lbs. plenty for deer within a reasonable bow hunting distance. I really like it’s combination of quiet, accuracy and power. Next year it will be my go-to weapon for deer hunting.

I have just purchased the Titan Turbo M1 which from what I understand is pretty much the same as the Titan M1 but has a different paint job. My Turbo came with the Mossy Oak Breakup Country camo pattern along with ACUdraw Pro.

I am totally new to shooting and hunting with a crossbow, so I am very excited at age 60 to be introducing something totally new to the sport of hunting. I have yet to try shooting the crossbow but have completed my basic assembly and trying to put a little time into learning the ins and outs of proper operation.

Although the assembly was pretty basic, I did feel that the small Assembly Manual that came with the crossbow sure could have been written a little better. Being that this is something totally new to me and that I’m unfamiliar with the bow, there were far to many places in the instructions that state “if so equipped” or “on particular models” which left me sort of scratching my head as to whether it applied to me or not.

With a little bit of effort on TenPoint’s side, I feel that the instructions provided should be specifically tailored to the crossbow that was purchased so that you know exactly what applies to your assembly instruction instead of trying to guess whether it applies or not.

One item that I feel was a bit peculiar in the assembly was when attaching the bow assembly onto the stock assembly, the center set screw that is intended to serve as a Main Assembly Bolt’s Locking Setscrew sort of surprised me being that it is screwed down onto the threads of the Main Assembly Bolt.

In my mind, it would have been a much better option to have a set screw tightened down onto the shaft of the Stock Assembly. The Stock Assembly’s shaft could even have a small indentation so that it would actually lock the two assemblies together.

I worry a bit about fouling the threads of the Main Assembly Bolt which may make it a bit more difficult if ever removed. During the mounting of the Quiver’s Quick Disconnect Attachment, the threads of the Quivers Mounting Bracket were not tapped completely through the bracket and would not permit tightening the Quick Disconnect Attachment fully.

I added a small #10 washer under the head of the screws to allow tightening fully. I am currently feeling that I purchased a quality product and that I will enjoy putting it into operation for a bit of target practice and then taking it out into the field for deer hunting and possibly even turkey or other small game.

My below ratings are currently based on expectation!.

Hi, I am a rifle hunter and have been for 68 yrs. I have owned and used many different calibre of rifle in my time , and not to brag but have always harvested some really nice W. hitetail deer with them.

I am now going after number 50 and it is special to me. I decided to purchase a crossbow to make this hunt even more special. After a great deal of research I made a decision to purchase a TenPoint Crossbow and let me tell you folks who are debating on this brand.

Some people did try to steer me to other brands or to purchase a less powerful crossbow. As I said I am an experienced and successful hunter of large game for many years and I know what it takes to achieve this.

Safety is paramount anytime you have a weapon of any type in your hands. The good people at TenPoint understand this and not only do they have all of the normal features included that any crossbow may or should have , but they have gone well beyond that point just with the overall crossbow design little own their ACUSLIDE cocking and de-cocking system , or their ( DFI ) Dry – Fire -Inhibitor , and yes , even the scopes being as clear and accurate as they are must be included as a safety feature.

The balance of the Havoc RS440 to hold it has a really good feel , very comfortable. From the first time that I picked this crossbow up I had a very positive sensation. Ha. one that reminded me of picking up my favorite rifle! The power that is unleashed with every shot from the Havoc RS440 is only surpassed by a couple of the Havoc’s family members from TenPoint.

I took 3 shots where I purchased this crossbow. I almost had a Robin Hood on the 2nd shot, but I did shoot 3 Bulls Eyes. I still have to get used to this crossbow some more , but if you are an experienced hunter or recreational shooter I strongly recommend you purchase a TenPoint Crossbow.

You will not be disappointed. If I with my age and experience can master this and be very excited and confident with this crossbow , I believe that any person can. Confidence , Ability , and having the latest Technology made in my hands this coming Fall are things that are going to get me Whitetail number 50 ! My Havoc RS440 and I will be stealing our way into the swamp and waiting for Mr.

After a lot of research was conducted, I found this bow kept coming up as a top competitor to the more expensive brands. At 400fps, this thing is no joke! I opted for the easy crank vs the cable pulls, due to shoulder surgery several years ago.

This thing is compact and packs a punch!! After an ordering on line, once delivered and a few minutes of getting it set up with the scope and quiver, I was extremely pleased at the speed and accuracy.

Had it dialed in to 20 yards hitting center mass on the third shot. I’ve hunted with various compound bows for well over 30 years and I think I will retire my current bow now. Looking forward to being in the stand this weekend chasing the elusive critter with this bad boy! To get a zero at 100 yds, literally the size of a baseball is incredible.

I look forward to years worth of shooting from the stand with it. I’ve already told a few hunting buddies and looks like several are soon to be set for Christmas! You can certainly spend less on one and get the same speed, or even more for that matter, but for an all around quality bow and good piece of glass, this is a hard one to pass.

Had this a couple months and it’s an awesome crossbow shoots with amazing accuracy. I tried Tenpoint and wicked ridge but had to return both to store due to manufacturing defects. I’ve shot other crossbows and owned others as well over the years but this one is top notch.

The ability to decock instead of shooting is great. There is no flight rail to lube. The scope is awesome as well as the fit feel and finish. Don’t be fooled by some other manufacturers lifetime warranty as when you read fine print limbs are only covered for 5 years and that’s the main thing to worry about besides strings.

If you’re on the fence because of price I understand but when you shoot and see the quality it’ll help your decision. You’ll love the trigger too like a precision rifle trigger.

There’s a learning curve if this is your first bow of this caliber. I was amazed at the speed. Once dialed in an 80 yard shot is not out of the question. It replaces my Ten Point FX4. The precursor to the new Wicked Ridge.

Those are great bows but the difference between 350-370FPS and this is over the top excellent. Get it, take your time sighting in, it’s important to know this machine. The “decocking” ability is good, no more bolts in the dirt.

My trigger is light, very nice, no tugging, feels like 3-5 pounds. I’ve been using bows since 1983. This is the bow. The scope is as advertised. I fine tuned it at 50 yards. Walking it back, 40, 30, then out to 60, just put the pin for the listed distance and it will hold a 1 inch group all day.

I’ll re visit when I drop a deer with a photo. I put value at 5, reason being it is up there in price but it’s competition at this level is 3-4 hundred more. And this cocking system is great.

I am a very experienced hunter – I had a Stryke Force that I loved but started having issues with the safety – it fired 2 seconds after I pulled the trigger. This was a huge safety issue and I never shot it again.

I was torn between TenPoint and Ravin but chose the TenPoint because I wanted something safe to use, and being able to unload the crossbow before walking out in the dark was a big deal to me. After using the crossbow for a bit, I have a few things that people should know.

First, as others said, I had difficulty sighting in the Garmin Xero – I followed the instructions and shot it at a bag at 5yds, but it was always low, even with windage maxed out. After losing three arrows at 20yds that shot way over the target, I figured out that I couldn’t start at 5yds per the instructions.

I started at 10yds and the windage ended up near the middle and then I was able to easily sight it in. I’m 2″ low at 5yds after sighting in, but right on at 10 through 60yds – I’ll take it. Also, the crank handle will fall out at some point – get a piece of velcro – if you lose the crank you can’t hunt! Also, carry a 1/4″ rachet in your bag in case you do lose it.

Third, the bolt for the cam lock for the quiver screws into a barrel bolt and will eventually work loose – you need to check it often. Fourth, the lighted knocks are always turning on – they are a pain.

Other than those quirks, its a solid package. I changed from 100g to 125g tips and saw a significant improvement in accuracy. My scope says my arrows are going 421 fps, but I’ll gladly trade a little less speed for improved accuracy and better knock-down power.

I’m seeing 2″ drop at 50yds with the heavier tips, but with the Garmin I’m not at all concerned about a little more drop. I feel quite confident in shots out to 70yds. This thing is going to be a problem.

Very nice compact Crossbow. I really like the Scope and chose the Ten Point over other major brands because their reticles were too thin and hard to see. The illuminated dots are great in low light conditions.

It is smooth shooting and fast and accurate. It is good looking with and very well made. Negatives: Even though a “low” high-end Crossbow it should come with the extended crank handle. The shorter crank makes it more difficult to cock and decock.

Without the leverage of a long handle you need to put a huge amount of pressure on the trigger box/to release it and decock. I thought something was wrong and almost sent it back for repairs until I managed to get it to release.

The pressure tab that holds the quiver in the bracket is a very poor design. It’s a hassle and awkward to constantly have to adjust the tension every time you want to reattach the quiver. This can be in the dark before and after a hunt.

If not snug the quiver can fall off the bow in transport. The angled quiver is also a nuisance. When shouldered for carry with a sling the arrows get caught up in brush and branches, and often times the lighted nocks get triggered.

The Quiver should be adjustable so it can be set more parallel to the Crossbow. When the crank is in storage in the stock, the retractable pin that is inserted into the cock decock mechanism is in a position that gets contact when handling shouldering the Crossbow, and makes a clicking noise which can and will alert deer.

Determining the overall rating for the new Siege RS410, proved harder than expected. The great aspects of the product are that the design of the bow and the ability to put arrows accurately on target is excellent, but I’ve encountered a number of issues that could have the potential to impact or ruin your hunt.

The cocking/de-cocking mechanism design/function, safety features, trigger, and accuracy are outstanding. The balance and ability to point and steady the bow for the shot is great. Not so great and an issue that may directly impact the success of your hunt is related to length of pull and eye relief issues with the scope.

I am a medium statured individual (5’7″) and even after installing all of the provided stock spacers and moving the scope as far forward as possible in the mounts there is still an issue with eye relief and reliably acquiring the scope.

My larger statured hunting buddies can’t use the scope if the butt is in contact with their shoulder. Frustrating issues that shouldn’t occur based on price of item: 1. Within three days of bringing the bow home the locking lever for the quiver (along with the bolt and nut) went missing.

The pro-shop where I purchased the bow mentioned they had seen the problem on multiple occasions and allowed me to swap components from a quiver kit on the shelf. Kudo’s to them for their customer service mindset and eliminating the lost time to chase down the issue directly with the manufacturer.

2. In using the cocking handle my thumb has gotten caught/pinched multiple times between the “T” handle and lever arm. In one instance it took a lot of wrangling to free my hand resulting in a bruised/sore thumb.

3. At some point the the cocking handle will fall out of the storage recess on the bow stock. I carry mine on my person to make sure that it will always be there when I need it. 4. Per other reviews I’ve read one of the two ball catches that lock the handle in the stock when using the cocking handle fell out less than a week after purchasing the bow.

The handle still locks with only one ball catch. Hopefully the other one does not come out. A commendable start Tenpoint, but there are some issues that need to be addressed.

I bought this crossbow to use for myself and for my grandson to use. My grandson is 14 and this is his first year to hunt deer. I am not able to draw a compound bow anymore and my grandson was just not able to be consistently accurate with his.

I studied many reviews and narrowed my search to Ten Point products. The Siege fit my criteria for safety, speed, and accuracy. After sighting in the scope, everyone that picked this crossbow up was able hit the bullseye at 20 yards.

Even my 8-year-old grandson, that has never shot anything but a nerf gun, hit the bullseye on every shot. There were a couple things we learned to pass on. First, make sure you are shooting at a target that can stop a bolt at 415 FPS.

We first used a target for a compound bow backed by a 16″ foam billet. It shot clear through both and found the bolt under the grass 10 yards behind the target. It was hard on the fletching going through all that.

I bought a 470 FPS target that stops the bolt unless you hit a spot that already has been hit. Then it sinks into the target up to the knock and the target is deeper than the 16″ bolt so it does not stick out the back.

This target was expensive and is heavy. Shooting at 40 yards solves the problem. I do not know what you can use for a target for the crossbows that shoot over 500 FPS but you should study that issue before you buy one and do not have a target to stop the bolt.

We found the scope proved accurate at all the yardage dots after it was first set up at 20 yards. However, I have trouble holding the bow steady to fire at that distance freehand and I used a BOG tripod to test at that distance.

The only issue we had was that the scope caps suck. We accidently bumped an open rear cap after the first shot and the cap broke off at the hinge. We use it without the caps. The replacement caps available on the web site look to be the same OE caps.

Why mess with it when the replacements are no better? Seems like cheap c**p on such a high-quality crossbow and an easy fix to replace with a quality set especially when the reviews have shown this as a consistent problem.

Maybe they are working on this by now. Don’t get me wrong, we love this crossbow and, if the only complaint is cheap scope caps, I still can’t see how any other crossbow could perform better for our use.

Also, the backpack bow case is totally awesome.

After waiting for many years, I finally jumped into the crossbow game. This is my first crossbow and I was hoping to buy once / cry once given the costs of these things. I am 52 years old and after years of using a regular compound bow, I found the issues with my shoulder and eyesight made it where I owed it to the animals I hunt and to myself to move into a crossbow.

I researched for quite some time before finally deciding that this was probably the best bang for my dollars. The most critical feature to me was the ability to de-cock the crossbow without having to shoot it.

I have witnessed first hand my buddies have to carry a small target in the truck just to be able to fire a cocked crossbow. I also did not like the idea of pulling up or lowering a cocked crossbow (even with no arrow in it) while in a treestand.

I really wanted to see this crossbow before purchase, but I could not find one anywhere in the State of Georgia to go see in person. My nearest Tenpoint dealer was 50 miles away and when I talked to him on the phone he said that these crossbows are impossible to get.

So reluctantly, I ordered it sight unseen from another TenPoint dealer out of state. So when my RS410 arrived, I immediately went to shooting it but I had difficulty getting it sighted in. My first shot completely missed the target and I destroyed the first bolt even at a distance of only 10 yards.

It was not sighted in even close. After multiple shots that seemed to have no grouping, I finally discovered the problem was a horrible mounting job of the scope. The screws in the rings were tightened all the way down on one side and the screws were loose in the other side.

The scope was loose in the rings. After remounting the scope, using some loctite, and a torque wrench, I got the scope properly mounted and sighted in. This solved the issues. But then, I was sighted at 20 yards but could not get the scope dialed in at the 30 and 40 yard marks.

After watching some videos, I figured out that my RS410 was shooting much faster than 410fps and this issue, while a good problem to have, could not be corrected. I was told by multiple people that I needed to replace the factory scope with a scope that had more speed adjustment in it.

Instead, I tried a different approach by switching my field points from 100grs to 125grs to slow the bolt down. I wanted to be shooting a heavier arrow anyway. This slowed the arrow down to exactly 425fps and I was able to set the scope dialed in at 425fps (the highest it will go).

This fixed everything and I am shooting tight groups at 20, 30, 40, and 50 yards just by using the holdover points in the scope and they are dead on. I also think the arrows fly better with 125grs because I can consistently put them in the same hole in the target as the previous shot.

Now that I have everything dialed in and adjusted, I absolutely love this crossbow and do not regret my purchase at all. Everyone I hunt with said I needed to get mechanical broad heads for hunting. But after seeing some of their issues with mechanical broad heads and the costs, I decided that shot placement is way more important than the broad head itself and I just don’t need a broad head that opens to 2″ that is prone to not opening or the increased cost.

I wanted to keep it simple. After much research, I decided to go with Muzzy 3 blade Trocar 125gr broadheads for hunting. My only complaint so far with this crossbow is the fact that you have to use the Tenpoint arrows / nocks and they are just too expensive especially when the bolts go straight through an archery target and embed themselves so deep that you destroy the vanes trying to get it out.

I have purchased several new archery targets now, but just not found the right target for these bolts. The power of this crossbow is absolutely incredible. I have to say that I am once again excited about archery season as the crossbow gives me a new level of confidence and precision that I had lost with my compound bow as I have gotten older and the ability to look through a scope instead of a peep sight is just night and day difference.

Would I buy the Siege RS410 again if I had it to do over? Absolutely, I am convinced I made the right choice.

I appreciate the opportunity to write a review of Ten Point Crossbows; quality crossbows. When I was evaluating different crossbow makers, it was apparent from repair shop workers at various stores that Ten Point had the least problems.

My first Ten Point Crossbow, a Titan HLX, came from a gun show in PA. I have three different crossbows and the Ten Point is definitely the best one. I wanted to purchase a newer and faster crossbow. I tried three times to purchase the Ten Point Vapor RS-470 crossbow package with acu slide from Cabelas and each time after telling me they had it in stock, it was cancelled the next day (11-24-21, 12-15-21, and 2-10-22) no longer in stock, check back in a couple of months.

When I was at another sporting goods store, I saw a Ten Point catalog. To my surprise, the RS-470 was not listed for 2022. The new and improved crossbow – Nitro 505 was being offered. I called Cabelas to see if they had the new bow but was told they had not ordered any at that time.

While shopping at Bob’s Army and Navy Store in Clearfield, PA, they had the Nitro 505. Since the store would be closing in a couple of months and everything had to go at reduced rates, I purchased it.

I am so excited about the quality and workmanship of the new Nitro 505. I look forward to many years of success with it. It is so easy with the acu slide, silent cocking, and safe de-cocking system. This is a beautiful bow and obviously top quality.

I purchased my Titan M1 over two months ago and wanted to hunt with it prior to writing my review. I am 71 years old and previously hunted with a Ten Point Titan Extreme for approximately ten years and absolutely loved that bow.

The M1 is a very nice upgrade with a shorter length, narrower axle to axle, over 10% increased fps and one pound weight reduction at only 6. 4 lbs. The AcuDraw makes a slight noise when cranking the pall which I do not feel is an issue and is actually a nice reminder the safety mechanism is engaged.

My crossbow came with an upgraded scope which is the RangeMaster Pro. This scope offers red or green illumination and arrow velocity adjustment. After setting the scope to the 20 yard dot it was very easy to set the fps adjustment for increased yardage settings without shooting multiple times.

This M1 has a very smooth trigger pull and is quieter than its predecessor. The cut out in the grip and the safety wings on the stock are both excellent safety features. The M1 is an affordable crossbow, easy to use in tight spots, very accurate and consistent, and easy to carry.

Customer Service has been excellent in the past and I expect that in the future. Love that it is Made in the USA and highly recommend this crossbow.

Last year I was unable to bow hunt due to a severe shoulder injury and I had to accept the fact that I will not be able to bow hunt this year either. I reluctantly decided to search out a crossbow as a means to put meat in the freezer this year.

I was raised on the idea that a crossbow was not fair sport and you either used a bow or waited until rifle season to hunt. I realized, however, that my injury required me to look at a crossbow to allow me to put meat on the table.

Most of my hunting is done in archery only areas so I was not just limited, but almost shut out of hunting all together. I did a lot of research and handled dozens of crossbows looking for the right one for me.

I knew TenPoint/Wicked Ridge archery had an amazing reputation for quality crossbows but I did not want to have tunnel vision so I tested many other brands first. When I picked up the Wicked Ridge Blackhawk 360, I knew I had found my bow.

Holding the Blackhawk felt natural. It was light weight and balanced well, which made it easy to hold up with my injury. To my surprise, I also had no problem cocking the string either. Despite being extremely light weight, the Blackhawk felt durable and well constructed.

The body is very rugged and sturdy. The design allowed me to find a suitable grip position to optimize comfort and accuracy. The scope glass was clear and the images were sharp and focused. Squeezing the trigger was smooth crisp like a good rifle.

The accuracy was dead on. I feel confident with the quality and accuracy of the Blackhawk 360. This is going to be a game changer. As I continue to test the capabilities of the crossbow it seems as though I will be limited only by my own abilities.

I think this is going to be my most successful season yet and I am not sure I will give up the crossbow once my shoulder is rehabilitated.

I had a Wicked Ridge Warrior crossbow for 9 years & was very satisfied with it. I discovered on the inside or the right limb a 2 inch sliver of the material was separating from the limb. I took it back to the dealer that I purchased it from.

Upon his inspection, he said the limbs, cables, & string would all have to be replaced at a cost of about $300. No way was I going to do that on a 9 year old crossbow. He said that they had the $399 Blackhawk on sale for $330.

I decided that I would buy it. THE BOW IS SUPER!! It is lighter, faster, quiter & more accurate than the previous Warrior that I had. The new technology that requires “alpha nocks” on bolts is a great idea! I do have an issue with the fact that the company did not take into consideration that some purchasers previously used bolts with different nocks & can no longer be used.

I have 10, never used, Carbon Express Piledriver bolts that are now useless to me. Now that I am required to purchase “only your brand of bolts equipped with the alpha nocks”, there should be some form of monetary exchange of my bolts for the new ones or that the company could supply alpha nocks that could fit bolts previously being used.

Very impressed with the quality and price of the Wicked Ridge Blackhawk 360 package. Both the crossbow and the accessories were all very high quality. I had to make some minor adjustments to the sight at 20 yards, but that was to be expected since someone else sighted it in.

I did have a setback at first – when cocking the string would run up on top of the arrow retention spring. Once I figured out what the problem was, I bent the spring up against the scope ( as far as it go without removing the scope) until there was enough gap for the string to engage the spring and pass under it instead of riding over it.

Works fine after this adjustment. I’ve only shot the crossbow about 10 times so far at 20 yards, but I’m very pleased with the speed and smoothness (lack of vibration) when shooting. I did add some silencing accessories to the crossbow before shooting it, and it’s really quiet.

I’m not really concerned about an animal jumping the string. Really looking forward to shooting this more. Overall, this crossbow has the looks, feel, and performance of quality.

All in All The Quality was Perfect. Have not had a Chance to use it yet. It was a Bit short on Instructions. I had a question about the Plastic Tips that go on the Bow. They are definitely designed to go a certain way but it is not Specified.

One other thing that would be helpful is a “How to String the Bow” Guide. I would recommend buying a second String for it. It comes with only one.

Mine did not hold the string back. Had to file it down. Then the safety was not reliable. The bow would fire without touching it. This made it dangerous. I was disappointed as with so many good reviews I had to get one with so many problems.

I purchased both the self cock and the standard type. The standard draw with the foot stirrup was a much better choice as the design of the crossbow notch was deeper and more of a right angle which permitted the string to set much easier and more securely.

In summary the pistol crossbow was more dangerous than the rest as you did not know if it would fire on its own or jam and not fire at all.

Bought this from Fleet Farm in Oakdale, MN. Beware because they have limited stock and I was given the open box/display crossbow when I bought online. The part that hold the scope was slanted making the scope inaccurate.

I didn’t find out until my brother took the scope off and helped me figure out what was wrong with the accuracy of the scope. I called RAvin and showed them a picture of the defect and they fixed it for me…but I had to pay over 80.

00 for shipping to their facility and they failed to reimbursed me for an obvious manufacturer major defect.

After having shoulder replacement surgery with very poor results i thought i was thru bow hunting. I tried a crossbow with a crank to cock it. It was so hard to get it wound up and loud, i struggled with it.

I also never liked have to shoot it to un-cock it. I went to Bass Pro to look at some other hunting things and saw the ravin R29X. The salesman showed it to me and offered to let me shoot it. We went back to the in store range and to my surprise it was easy for me to operate and very light! Long story, short I ended up leaving with it.

Several hunting trips already in this year and I can’t wait to get back out again. I can’t say enough about this crossbow. Definitely made bow hunting fun for me once again!.

Have shoot this bow a hundred time w the included scope and was all over the place. Made sure scope was mounted correctly and screws tight still spraying the target at all ranges. Put a Hawke variable speed scope on it and now driving tacks out to 60 yards.

Would have given 5 stars if they did not put such a crappy scope on it. It just does not hold up w a bow that shoots fast (chronograph at 320fps). I put the old scope on an old Parker bushwacker and it seems fine but that bow is luck to go over 270fps.

The bow is great Barnett needs to put a scope on that will match the bow. Putting that inferior scope on makes the bow look bad. I have read several other reviews that have had the same issue w this bow.

I ordered this and it was poorly packaged. The scope was out of its box rattling in the main box. It was missing the 3 arrows but the sticker was here. Part of the box was opened and resealed as well I will include photos.

I was informed that this is the way Barnett packages their items. Picture 1 shows the cut Barnett tape Picture 2 is the other side not cut Picture 3 shows how it looked once opened (nothing securely packaged for shipping) Picture 4 Shows the scope out of the box Picture 5 Shows the Scope box in a place where I don’t see the scope escaping the box because of size and turn radius.

This thing goes together easy. You need a bit of common sense because the directions don’t tell you much. It took about 30 minutes. They do have better directions online I had reviewed earlier in the day and they helped.

I love the scope! 330 fps is going to be plenty fast to put a few freezer queens (doe) away during winter bow. It is also very small and easy to handle. Very impressed with the value. Considering the money I spent.
