20 Best Pillow Inserts For Throw Pillows (2023 Updated)

The pillows are great. I subtracted a star because although I ordered these pillows from Wal-Mart they were shipped from Amazon with a ‘gift receipt’ from Utopia.

Perfect product. just the right amount of stuffing. My new pillow covers fit perfectly.

Nice n cushy. Perfect size 4 my chairs.

I was originally going to just buy some Poly-fil and throw pillow covers and stuff them myself. I figured it would be cheaper than buying the overpriced pillow inserts I saw everywhere. But somehow I stumbled across these, and I realized the price was a steal! I some pairs of 18X18 pillow covers with zippers, and I saw a lot of reviewers saying to size up on the inserts, so I did.

And it’s perfect! It was a little bit of a tight fit, which is exactly what I wanted, so once the covers were on the inserts, I had nice, fluffy throw pillows. Since I didn’t have to stuff them myself, I didn’t have to worry about trying to get it to fill out in the right shape, but if I wanted more spring the pillows, the zippers on the inserts allow me to add as much extra stuffing as I want.

That’s not even necessary, but who knows. Maybe 10 years from now they’ll need to be refreshed. Best of all, the price is incredible. $20-ish for 4 pillow inserts?! That’s like half the price of the cheapest ones I could find elsewhere! And this is a known, respected, quality brand, not some no name, fly-by-night, fake brand from Amazon.

Seriously, if you’re looking for quality, affordable pillow inserts, not only is this brand top-notch, but Walmart has the absolute best price for it by far!.

This is the third time I’ve purchased these pillow inserts. I mostly use them for the bench located on my front porch. I’ve also used them on my couch since I make seasonal changes. They are easy manipulated into whatever cover I’m using and then fluff right out to shape.

The porch is protected but does get blown in rain. The pillow inserts dry quickly. I’ve been pleased with my purchase.

My granddaughter is working at Disney World for the next several months and left her cat for us to care for. I am making a pillow with her cat on it as a special gift for Christmas. I needed a pillow insert and Joanne has all the supplies I need.

She also has pointers on how to make a fluffy pillow and videos showing how to add piping around the edges. With all these instructions, I will definitely make a pillow my granddaughter will love.

I had an Elite 300 thread count (Soft n Crafty) pillow form at home. I needed three more so I ordered them online. Same picture and info as the form at home. When I picked them up from the store they had sent me three of these “Premier” pillow forms.

They are not worth sewing a pillow for! They are very flat, no thread count is listed and they are much lighter in weight than the pillow that I already have. There is no way I could use them and have them near a pillow made with my current form.

They would look like they need to be replaced! Interestingly, the pillow that I had ordered is no longer available on line (a week later). Supposedly the “Premier” is the replacement for the Elite. DO NOT BUY.

WITH I COULD GIVE IT 0 STARS. Both store managers that I talked to (Apple Valley/Edina) seemed like it was no big deal and the customer service person thought my description of the pillows was funny.

These are flat. Hopelessly flat! As far as I’m concerned about half-filled. I purchased 27 x27″ for 24″ pillows and I could have put two of these forms in them. Fairfield and JoAnn’s should be ashamed to sell these.

The only saving grace to these is that there is a zipper closure. You can add more poly-fil to the pillow inserts. The problem is, you shouldn’t have to.

I don’t normally write reviews unless I feel very moved, either positively or negatively by a purchase. I ordered two Queen Down Feather Pillows with high hopes that they would be comparable to a great luxury-hotel down/feather pillow, with enough down to feel cloud-like and forgiving and enough feather to support your head without sinking down to the mattress.

I could tell this wasn’t the case before I even pulled them out of the box- they looked lumpy and totally deflated, and were quite heavy. I fluffed one up and decided to try it for a night anyways. Terrible night of sleep.

This pillow is lumpy, heavy, stiff, smells strongly of duck down/feather (instead of using goose which smells less) and does not have a good ratio of down to feather in my opinion. I woke up the next morning and couldn’t move my neck at all, had to take meetings all day laying flat on the floor with a heat pack wrapped around my neck.

I would not recommend this pillow, but am giving it two stars as sleep comfort is a personal preference. I would give five stars to Coyuchi’s 30 day guarantee and return process.

I’ve had this pillow since February 2021 and it has hold up well to many nights of rest and even my pets jumping or sleeping on it. I do use a 300 thread count cotton sateen pillow case which may have helped a bit to withstand daily use.

But since this is a down FEATHER pillow there will be some quills (the pointy end of a feather) sticking out so keep that in mind. It doesn’t shed feathers like crazy but occasionally I do find a few feather here and there poking out to be freed.

I’ve had down feather pillows in the past (from other companies) that had so many feathers sticking out so frequently but this one has very little of that problem. However, I do wish the pillow’s fabric was thicker to accommodate the quills that may poke out.

Overall not bad, pretty nice pillow and it’s the only pillow I will sleep on.

My first down pillow from Coyuchi was two years ago and is my favorite pillow. It was a little too firm at first but within a week or so was perfect. So I ordered a second one. It is HALF the thickness of the first one.

I can poke my finger from the top and feel the bed below. It has a split with no feathers if you bend it. I am not sure why anyone would pay anything for a pillow like this. It is going back. I am so disappointed.

Best inserts for decorative pillows and have tried many others. Fill decorative cases well and have enough structure for the “chop” that you see in interior design photos. Used them to replace the decorative pillow inserts that came with our sofa because the original ones had feathers coming through the case and was getting annoying.

The exterior shell on the Serta ones are thicker and we have had no issue with feathers coming through. They look great and have a comfortable fill plus love the fact they do not have that smell that some feather pillows have.

These pillows were the perfect size for our couch. Sometimes feather pillows can be flat but these were not – they were full and the feathers did not leak out. I love getting pillow inserts so that we can change out the covers throughout the year and also wash the covers and keep everything clean.

Overall very happy with this product.

I have many decorative pillows. Most pillows are just for looks, not comfort. These Serta Feather Decorative Square pillows are SO COMFORTABLE! They are made of down and they form to your shape while you are using them! I love the weight of the pillow, it feels so fluffy and supportive at the same time.

When you think feather and down pillow do you think of your grandmothers old, flat, uncomfortable pillows from 1970s? Wipe that from your memory because this pillow is NOT that. It’s fantastic! I had no idea a pillow with feathers and down could be SO supportive and comfortable.

As soon as my head hit the pillow for the first time I let out an audible “oooo” because it was not at all what I was expecting! It felt better than my expensive pillows that are made for support. I know it’s decorative but I’m using it every since night now.

It’s firm without being too firm. Definitely not what I would expect based on its description. A pleasant surprise!.

I’m in awe & in love with this bed lounge wedge pillow! This larger model runs 3/4 length of my full-size headboard & I’m able to sit straight up in bed & read or use my laptop with excellent lumbar support- & it maintains it’s shape beautifully.

I can also lay partly down with my head propped up on the lounge wedge pillow very comfortably up against the lounge & read, watch TV, etc. The craftsmanship is superior-seams are very tight & the filling is soft yet firm.

This will last for years. I also purchased the pillow cover recommended to go along with it & it’s also of superior quality & very comfortable as well as durable. I couldn’t be happier.

I was assured by a Boll and Branch customer service representative the decorative pillows would contain 70% feathers and 30% feathers down. Upon receiving the pillows, to my disappointment the pillows are of 95 % feathers and 5 % down.

I have lost all confidence with Boll and Branch and will no longer continue to do business with this company.

Love this pillow. Perfect amount of fill and fit to the covers. Great quality. ONLY thing I would change is remove the plastic from the packaging.

I had purchased two new zippered pillow shams from Saver’s that had the Bird of Paradise flowers on them. But I needed the pillow insert part. I went on line and searched for pillow insert and I found this one.

I measured my pillow shams to see what size I needed to order. I found that they were 16×16. So, I ordered this on line from Wal-Mart and in just a few days I received it. I went home and in just about a minute I had put the pillow insert and the shams and made me two new beautiful pillows.

And, the great thing of it is they are washable. I can take the shams off of this pillow insert and wash them separately or together. I have these two Birds of Paradise pillows on my bed with another pillow I have that has a parrot on it.

My bedroom is tropical so these three pillows lined up across my bed with my hibiscus comforter just make my room POP! And to think these inserts cost less than $10. That is spectacular!.

I ordered the 6 twin pack for a total of 12 pillows, planning to use them for gifts. When I opened the box and felt inside the first plastic bag I felt a lumpy, easily compressed, cheap feeling pillow.

My husband put his head on it and said it felt like nothing was there, totally flat. Now I’m going to lug this big disappointment of a box to Joann’s to return it.

Definitely NOT 18×18. I bought two sets to fit two different sets of pillow inserts. These were clearly two large for both sets. Returning!

Quite disappointed in these. Not very good quality. I guess I should have known better than to buy pillow inserts online, they arrived flat as a pancake, they did fluff up some but they are not really what I’d hoped for.

I started out with just two to replace feather inserts. I liked them so much that I ordered three more. Now all my sofa throw pillows have these inserts. Look great and are comfortable. No more feather sticks! Highly recommend.

I bought this a while back. Service was excellent and hassle free. The pillow. I’ve tried to fluff it up so much with no luck. It’s still a little flat for perfection. Still, gets the job done. So it’s not terrible.

Our seasonal pillows were flat and sad, and now they’re lofty and don’t get shoved out of the way every time we sit down! I’m happy with the quality and value, and I’ll probably buy another set soon.

I reallly like this throw pillow. Just the right fill and size. Well made and in the USA!! Recommended.

I have multiple Beddy’s set and every one is made with high quality materials. They all feel very high end. I of course love the look and feel but my favorite part is the convenience of being my able to zip the beds right up.

My kids can easily make their beds and they look nice and clean. No more bedding falling off the bed anymore.

Very nice pillow only thing I’ve been disappointed with is the fabric of the pillow (or maybe the sharp feathers haha). It is so thin the feathers poke through the even with a pillow case on. My 3 yr old daughter won’t use them because she says it hurts.

Definitely would not recommend for somebody that has sensitive skin.

Top quality feather pillows. Perfectly packed (vacuum sealed) to allow for minimum packaging. Easily removed from plastic wrap. Beautiful quality exterior lining. Easy to put into pillowcases and holds it’s shape perfectly.

Save up your money and go buy some quality pillow forms that do not collapse the moment your cat lays their head on them. Or better yet, save up your plastic bread bags, stuff them into an appropriate sized garbage bag, tie a knot and add a pretty cover like our grandmothers did.

They would be infinitely more sturdy and full! I’m too embarrassed to return these to the store and admit I spent money on them, so I will take it as a lesson learned. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to go make a sandwich and get started on my new pillows.

These are the softest and fluffiest pillow inserts. Filled out my covers perfectly and are nice and full and plump. I do wish the cover over the filling would be cotton instead of a thin gauze like material.

Despite that I still love the softness and fullness of them.

Too flimsy and soft. These 20 X 20 inserts did not even fill my 18 X 18 cushion covers properly. If you’re looking for something quite soft and flat, these are perfect for you,

I love these pillow inserts; they are so fluffy and full. (I do wish they made one with higher down/lower or no feather fill but realize that would probably be too expensive. ) I used a large decorative piece as the front of the pillow and put a zipper in back for hand/delicate wash as needed.

The insert makes such a nice pillow, not just for decoration but also napping!.

Ahhhh, this wonderfully soft pillow form is something I bought for myself! With all the shopping and sewing for family, these pillow forms I purchased for me! I plan on sewing decorative coverings for each season/holiday, for these fluffy forms! Love these!!!.

It was hard to stay around it for more than a few seconds. Good thing is you can machine wash them (follow wash instructions) and only then was the odor gone.

We’ve used them for a couple of weeks now and they have held up ridiculously well! I have five children who lay on them daily and these inserts haven’t flattened at ALL! Five stars for me.

Just remember to get throw pillow covers too since the inserts are slightly roughtextured by themselves. I’m sure they’re meant to use with covers and not as white throw pillows, just FYI.

I bought this pillow after reading the many great reviews it received. I was skeptical because I don’t normally buy firm pillows. I also found the pillow incredibly lightweight which left me concerned about that balloon feeling that other lighter weight pillows have provided.

I also worried that down would flatten too easily during the night. My fears were for nothing. The firm pillow is amazing. Despite its light weight it provides great support, and is easily fluffed up if it gets a tad flat at night.

Although firm, it is not hard and does not create pressure on my neck during sleep (I am a side sleeper though I move around a lot). I have only been using the pillow for a week, so cannot comment on its durability, but so far it has given me some of the best nights of sleep in recent memory.

I agree that the cost is high, but after suffering with so many cheaper pillows that did not deliver, the cost is not even on my mind anymore.

This soft pillow is perfect for my 5’2″ female frame and has increased my time of uninterrupted sleep. Over the years, my career was extremely physical and very traumatic to my spine and neck. As a result, I suffer insomnia from pain, so I’m constantly looking for ways to improve my sleep.

In researching pillows, I found that height is just as important as sleeping position. Sleep position research sources not considering height recommended a medium pillow. But every medium pillow of various filling I tried caused pain to my neck.

I purchased a Matouk Valletto in soft and one in medium, but the soft was the winner. However, I kept the medium for propping pillows to read or watch TV in bed. Another great feature of the goose down is it maintains a comfortable temperature, where foam and many down alternatives would retain heat when I settled into a sleeping position.

The price may seem excessive for a pillow, but its similar to other down pillows that feature a large percentage of goose down and fill, duck down and feathered pillows are cheaper. I had considered another brand that advertised 100% down that included a scented lavender pouch in every pillow and is assembled in the USA.

I decided not to purchase that brand because it did not identify the source or type of down. I was left wondering if that other company’s fragrant pouch was to cover the mild scent that may occur when duck or another fowl other than goose down is used.

I have not noticed any fragrance with the Matouk Valletto pillows. Plus, the Matouk’s website provided more information about the down used in their items. I’ve had my Matouk Valletto soft pillow for over a month and I absolutely love it.

These are the pillows you dream of. Firmish, but your head sinks in… yet they immediately poof back up. Like that five star hotel you will never forget. If you want medium? Get firm. I have a jacked neck, and these are heavenly.

You may need more support if you are a side sleeper. I bought two for myself.

I received my pillow super fast. I have Multiple Sclerosis, so sleep is vital for my body and chronic pain. I ordered the soft, as I usually love softer pillows vs. more firm. I will say their soft goes quite flat, more than what I thought it would.

A little too squishy with not enough down inside, so beware if you love soft pillows. It is still high quality. I just wish I would have ordered a medium instead. I am on disability and just moved, amongst other things going on this past year or I would have exchanged it for the correct size.

Best pillow ever. Totally worth the splurge. I got the whole recommended set of protective cover and pillow covers. Also bought a set as a gift and they also said it’s the most comfortable pillow they’ve ever used.

I am have side sleeper mostly and sometimes end up on my back. I got the firmest one for myself and the gift and it is perfect for us. If you’re on the fence, I would take the leap and try it out at least with their 30 day guarantee.

This was my very first purchase from Boll & Branch. along with two sets of sheets. The firm down pillow is, indeed, firm, because it has a lot of fill. I’m a side-sleeper, and this pillow is awesome.
