This type cutter is good for round pills but not for Oblong shape. You have to place the oblong pills in place with your fingers (hard to do) to keep it from slipping sideways until you close the lid.
Takes a long time to cut a whole prescription. I have the pharmacist send me the round one’s but sometimes they only have the oblong. Most cutters are all the same. Can’t understand why. I would give this cutter for Round shape 5 stars but oblong a “2”.

The medicine tablet cutter is fantastic. It will cut any size and shape tablets. We had the same one for years. Due for wear and tear the place where it holds to open and close, the clips broke off cutting a large pill.

All I was looking to do was to find a splitter that would cut a round pill in half. After many miss cuts I finally figured out that you have to hold the pill very firmly against the back stop ( I used a small screw driver) as you bring the knife down on the pill it works as I wanted.

I do not know who they paid to say it crushes a pill into a fine powder, because that is a lie. It breaks a pill into pebbles and that is it no matter what you may try. Also, the blade must not be centered because it will not cut a pill evenly.
