20 Best Nail Primer To Prevent Lifting (2023 Updated)

Young nails protein bond changed my nail 💅 game! When it comes to acrylic or gel you truly get what you pay for, don’t cheap out in primer and if you are hard on nails or just want to guarantee they hold up on clients, go buy this immediately.

I am tough on my nails and I still end up filling my nails 3 weeks later with zero lifting. Before I discovered this I had to use acid primer and even those didn’t work as good as this does, plus if they touch your skin talk about burn.

1000000 out of 10, don’t sleep on this … one of my first sets on myself using protein bond, 2 weeks in and still looking bomb af.

So I got a gel manicure and the lady who did my nails used this underneath. I’ve had a few gel manicures before and they just didn’t last long enough for me to want one again. I decided to try again and holy cow.

This stuff makes such a difference! My nails looked incredible for three weeks! Three! That’s the longest I’ve ever had nails look good. I couldn’t believe it. I only took them off because eventually the color looked like it was cracking some and it was growing out.

I had absolutely no chipping, which I couldn’t believe. I want to get some of this for myself once I have the extra fun money to grab a nail light and gel polish because it’s a game changer!.

Listen up! When I first started doing my nails at home, I would get lifting sometimes. I switched to builder gel and incorporated YN protein bond. Bay-bee…this protein definitely made a difference! I very rarely have any lifting.

I am impressed with No Lift nail primer so far. I have had problems with my nails lifting at the base, which causes moisture to get trapped under the nails. Moisture can cause mold and fungus growth.

Both of which one does not want to get under their acrylic nails. Use in a well-ventilated area.

I’ve been using this acrylic nail primer for awhile now and as much as I do like Mia secret I’m not sure that this is actually doing anything except making my brush go hard. I’ve used it with regular acrylic and more recently with dip powder and it doesn’t seem to make the product stay on any better then when I don’t use it.

Maybe I’m just a novice and I’m not doing it right but I’ve watched enough videos to get the drift. You do your nail prep, push your cuticles back and get all the dead skin off the nail plate, then use the nail prep liquid which is basically a dehydrator to get all the oil off the natural nail then use the primer to help the acrylic bond to the nail.

Maybe I got an old one or something because I did get it off Amazon. But all It does is make my brushes get all hard and I have to use the brush saver liquid. Idk. I’m going to use it a little more but I think I’m going to get a different primer to see if it works any better and if it works the same as this one then I know it’s something I’m doing and not the product.

Love this primer! I use it before applying opi gel colour to prep my nails and guarantee that they will last longer. And it works. I absolutely recommend it as a bond adhesive for preping your nails before gel applications.

Best acid free primer for anyone from beginner to pro. A little more subtle than the normal primer smell however you’re handling chemicals so it will have some sort of odor. Best when paired with the Mia Secret Nail Prep.

This is actually the only primer I’ve used for the past 5 years.

Weather you are using a 12 footer or longer hose, this will save your bacon in sun freezing weather. 2 big advantages, a thermostat controller keeps the hose warm in the coldest weather and will also aid in keeping your connection from freezing at both ends of the hose.

Works great, the blue cover keeps it safe and prevents damage when in use or just stowed. Dont winterRV without it.

This primer right here is the real deal!! I can’t believe this is what made all the difference on my client’s nails. I’ve been doing this for a few years now and could never get a set to last more than 2 weeks and even then, there was lifting around the new growth.

This primer is a great addition to the application of acrylic nails. I believe it helped the longevity of my nail sets.

It is glossy when you apply it onto your natural nail. So far so good. Prevents further lifting since i had a little lift on one of my nail’s free edge. I’ve had it on for about 4 days now. I haven’t felt the gel becoming loose yet.

Its a good first time tryout for me. I would use it again, definetely.

This was recommend to me by a friend to help keep my gel base from lifting. I often change my polish over the gel base so I was having quite a bit of lifting. Since I’ve started using it, lifting is almost down to zero.

I had one tiny (much tinier than normal) spot lift but that might have been my fault. I would highly recommend it for use with gels. I cannot speak to use with acrylics.

This helps my gel polish stay on so solidly when used in combination with Gelish pH bond and Gelish foundation base coat. I experience no peeling or lifting until I soak off with acetone. This improved my gel adherence a lot, and I highly recommend it.

So after learning how to use an e-file on myself, my beautiful natural nails were thiiiiin and honestly really destroyed. but I persisted in messing with them because I was bored. It was a nightmare.

I had my eye on Bodyguard for a while and snatched it up during a sale. What. A. Game. Changer. I used it as a base coat a day before doing a planned polygel set, to give myself a break. I did use Orly Nail Tip Primer first.

It was nice and hard, so my fragile nails lil’ nails were beautifully protected all day and night. I didn’t worry at any point about them ripping or breaking, which is a relief. I (think I) buffed it up manually and wiped it down and applied half tips (and trimmed the tips!), then did my polygel set right on top.

It worked awesome! My nails grow really fast, thankfully, so I’m already seeing some grow out. I’m not having any lifting, it’s all strongly stuck on. I also don’t have anymore pain when my nail bed area is pushed on which is amazing! I’ve only been wearing them a week, but this is maybe the best week of my long nail adventure.

I’m work with kids, so even pre-pandemic, I washed my hands a bananas amount. Now though, I’ve had a ton of problems with pinkish lifting because of how often my nails are saturated. This is showing no signs of backing down.

I honestly feel like I’ll be able to use this as a basecoat and fill my polygels!.

I’ve used this once so far and had none of the problems anyone else mentioned. I’m using it as an overlay to support and protect my thin natural nails and to provide a base layer for polish that I change frequently.

It lasted very well for a week and may have lasted longer but I chose to take it off for hygienic purposes since I work in healthcare. HOWEVER I did prep with cuticle removal and very light buffing followed by the Orly Gel FX primer and easy-off base coat before the bodyguard.

After application I was able to put regular nail polish on top and changed my nail polish once without affecting the bodyguard. There was just a little lifting/wear at the tips on one or two nails when I went to change the polish possibly thanks to the prep and primer? so I buffed the bodyguard on those nails and added another layer, and boom, kept on rolling.

Removal: I was quite pleased with the removal process. Since my tips take a real beating and I’m trying desperately to keep my nails from peeling, I really wanted to make sure those tips were well wrapped, so I had added extra layers just over the tips.

The body of the nail had maybe three coats while the tips probably had six. I was nervous about having to scrape the gel off my nails and damage them. I removed the polish, then buffed the gel with a heavy grit file I don’t have an e-file, then applied acetone-soaked cotton with clips and soaked maybe 10 minutes.

The body of the nails that had just a couple layers popped right off quite obediently with no damage possibly thanks to the easy-off base coat?, but the tips were more stubborn since there were more layers.

I did end up having to scrape some and got some damage in the process, but I blame the extra thickness for that, not the product itself. I am amazed that this system had enough adherence to give me zero lifting at the base which I usually struggle with and little to no tip wear, surviving tons of hand washing and sanitizer and changing of polish, yet remove.

I use ORLY Gel FX Body Guard on top of my natural nails. See my photos. My nails are growing back after I damaged them removing the old salon gel without proper tools during lock down in spring. They are strong.

They are healthy. Gel comes off easy when soaked in acetone. No damage after weeks of use. They look more natural than when I used to get them professionally done. Though I never used tips and had gel overlay on my own nails, people always asked if my nails were real.

Look at these. No one will ask now. And it lasts. Pics two weeks after last application. They last as long as they did when I was going to salon. Some complain of lifting. Ive learned after several practice tries, that it is all in your technique.

Im no professional. But Ive gotten better about applying so that its not going over the edges or on cuticles which may cause lifting. I also purchased the nail drill kit, inexpensive here on Amazon, and Ive gotten good at shaping which prevents lifting.

While I love supporting small business, times are hard. I will be doing my own nails from now on. If youre like me and need to tighten the budget but still want to take care of yourself, try this.

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!! When I say I love this palette it’s so many color/combos to choose from for the price you get so many pigmented colors vs many $35-$40 palettes that come with 12 boring colors.

UCanbe really outdid themselves with this product. I would say this product is beginner.

I use this with gel polish and builder gels. It makes for a great base and helps with adhesion. It’s way better priced than other brands bases and works just as well if not better.

You would not get a lift with this bonder. Is amazing and is affordable i usually buy this brand at amazon or Walmart. Totally recommend.

I was excited to receive the products, I bought a full set including this primer, but confused after taking everything out. There’s not enough instructions here, so I know this is a primer, but it doesn’t say if I need to cure it with the light? Or let it dry or putting the gel stickers right on? I did what like most my gel nails in the shop does which is cured the primer then the gels, cured, then top coat and cured.

Some of them came right off on the second day. Should be good product if you have more information on the product, but instead I have to go online to find. A bit frustrating.

I got this only because I seemed to be getting a smidge of damage on the centers of my nails after removing the Ohora gel strips. You have to be careful or it will definitely make your gel strips come off early, like many reviewers are saying.

ONLY use a very small amount – a brush barely wet from the product, do not use like nail polish. It should dry almost instantly as it is so thin. ONLY use on the center area of your nail – don’t let it get on your nail tip or edges at all.

It is basically an anti-stick complex, so you don’t want it on the edges of your nail. The edges keep the gel strip stuck down and the primer helps it release from the center of the nail when you pull them off.

If you use the acetone edge trick when you apply, this will give you no problems with gel strips coming off early!.

More of an electric blue than purple but still a nice colour. Found the formula to be a bit thin. Had to apply multiple layers to get a good colour. But due to applying so many layers my nails didnt last as long as expected.

Going to try using it over black polish instead.

Lovely subtle colour in just two coats. Into the third week now and no chips or peeling yet. I will be buying more Bluesky colours as brilliant value and quality. I would definitely recommend this colour and brand to others.

Bluesky branded polish is always good. Delivery was timely. However, one polish arrived in a small padded envelope delivered through the door. The others were wrapped in unnecessary 1 metre thick padding and couldn’t be delivered through the letterbox.

I had to drive to the post office to pick it up. So because my drive and the inordinate amount of plastic used affected the environment so much I will not be repeat purchasing from a company that does not care about these things.

I have always struggled with getting gel polish to stick to my nails and not lift after a week. I put this on before applying my gel polish and am now on week two, on my way to week three with no signs of lifting.

Ibd is one of my favorite nail brands! I’ve been doing nails for a couple years and I own ALOT of IBD Products. I feel that with any nail products that you have to use the same line of product, because some Builder Gel brands do not work good together.

IBD lasts longer between infills. Even though proper preparation is what ultimately makes the nail tomorrow adhere to your natural nail. In my opinion if you prep correctly and use IBD Products your set will last over two weeks.

It makes the nails Harder to break an helps with lifting from around the cuticle area! I hope some of my lady nail techs on here would agree, but what works for me, max not work for everyone else. If you have not tried IBD products I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM🥰.

I really like this polish. There is no need to apply four or five coats. One for a lighter look two for a darker shade. I got this when I was working at sun tan city as a tanning consultant and I was bored thought I’d try it ,yes at work!! Lol 😆 I was really surprised by it.

After that I was hooked I bought just about one of every color. it kind of has a funsh like gel,however it doesn’t have that gunked up look.

I really like the pale pink shade. The shade, called Sweet Surrender, is soft and feminine. I love the brand: the nail polishes are always glossy and easy to apply. The reason I took away 1 star was because after 2 coats, the color was still weak and I needed to apply 3 coats to have the color really show.

I don’t usually like 3 coats of nail polish since it takes forever and lots of time to dry. Still, with lots of time and 3 coats, it is a pretty polish.

Just what I needed to do my acrylics at home!!! This product does take a little time drying but it works well!!! It would be better if the smell was not so strong but is an average monomer and works as well as most monomers!! I would purchase again!! again!.

Best base product I’ve ever used. It isn’t super runny like other brands and it doesn’t chip easy and with as hard as I am on my nails it is super nice not to have to worry about my manicure

@sally_hansen Color Therapy Strengthening Base Coat is a pretty good base coat for my at-home manicure. I do a lot of house work like cooking and cleaning and this base coat usually helps to protect my nail from damage keeping them healthy and shiny.

It is smooth, dries quickly and helps to protects my nails from peeling, chipping, breaking and makes it last for longer. Every time I apply it makes my nails look much different after the at-home manicure.

I received the Sally Hansen Color Therapy Strengthening Base Coat to try from Influenster. I have used it twice and it seems like a good base coat that dries quickly. I wore it under a pinky red polish on first usage and there wasn’t any nail staining when I removed the polish which is also good.

I don’t have weak or brittle nails so I don’t know how well I will be able to tell if this product strengthens with continued usage. If I need to go purchase a base coat, this would definitely be on my list of ones I would own again.

While this isn’t as shiny/plush looking as Seche Vite, it is pretty much the same thing without the massive shrinkage issue, peeling, and glooping I used to experience using the former. I was a long time devotee of SV, but I kept running into issues with certain nail polishes not reacting well or just general performance nightmares that I started looking for alternatives.

I was initially very skeptical of this top coat because no one talks about it. at all. I love the wide, flat brush – it completely covers the nail so that you get right to the cuticle without dragging.

It doesn’t have that obnoxious paint thinner smell that SV has, and I haven’t seen any reviews (so far) mentioning gloopiness from frequent use and I haven’t experienced it myself. Also, it does not shrink your tips and does not cure your polish so much that you get a dessicated layer that subsequently flakes off in giant chunks immediately after a shower.

I tested this on a chintzy vegan polish which flakes like nobody’s business and was shocked to see that after washing my hair, moisturizing, washing my face, and brushing my teeth – a daily routine which usually results in the first signs of doom – I had very little no discernable tipwear (which would inevitably happen with Seche Vite), no fraying along the edges, no cracking near the cuticle, and I couldn’t feel the polish lifting off my nail beds.

I would give this product 5 stars if it was just a tiny bit shinier. It’s okay, just average, and I kind of think the fact it’s thin and satiny is what makes it so good. If you want super glossy nails you will need a glossy top coat.

Overall, I’m happy though, and I’ve started using Seche Vive as my finishing touch instead of Vite as I think it’s shinier and stronger anyway.

I’m a fiercely loyal ORLY fan. In fact, it was the first brand I ever bought, twenty-plus years ago and I’ve never used another product since. As much as I love ORLY, I’ve never been extremely pleased with its wear time.

I never get a full week out of any color. Sometimes, the very next day, I’ll get a chip and/or wear marks. The Sec N’ Dry does a pretty good job at drying the lacquer pretty quickly, but it does not dry the nails to a hard finish.

That still takes some time. I’m pretty sure this would work for most people.

I recieved this in one of my Colorpass subscription boxes (Quarterly subscription that includes 6 seasonal polishes with a random surprise perk or two. ) I actually just used this top coat last night for my mani.

Full disclosure: I usually *do not like* quick dry top coats, and stay away from them. I think they tend to chip or wear off, and always stuck with Orly’s Glosser or Matte top coats for my nails- but other than the Glosser being a thicker viscosity, and having a “wet” look, (and Matte- obviously having that amazing finish) while this has a normal polish sheen- there is absolutely no difference in the performance or quality in this top coat.

Also, I have used SO MANY different brands of polish- varying from the $6-9 grocery store brands, to $29+ bottles of “high end” products. Orly is BY FAR, my favorite brand. Not only are my nails healthier, and they have amazing products, but they are extremely value priced compared to the quality you get.

I was so excited to add this color to my collection which is why I went to six different Sally’s in order to find it. To my disappointment there were none at six at the different stores so I had to order it online.

Once I got it in the mail I was so excited and decided to paint my nails right there. To my shock the nail polish only lasted for 1 to 2 days. The tips of my nails are chipping so bad that it looked terrible so I had to get all the polish off.

I hope Julia decides to reformulate this nail polish because I know there are so many people that would love this color.

These are my favorite to use when doing French gel manicure. The gel is a soft white which makes it look more natural. I hate when french manicures are stark white. I like that it’s a thinner consistency compared to other gel polishes.

I would recommend you tell your nail techs to try this brand on you.

I have been wearing greens all during this football season to support my Green Bay Packers. I was happy to find this little gem in the clearance bin at Ulta last Saturday for $3. 99 when I was going to buy an OPI dupe for $8.

50. Used with Orly Bonder, this enamel, along with a couple coats of top coat, has worn perfectly on my nails for three days now. It is a beautiful shade of forest green and matches a Packer jersey. It is very similar in color to BL British Racing Green without the shimmer.

I will purchase more Orly nail enamels, probably not this shade again though as I have collected many greens over the past three months. I might be wearing green right through to the Super Bowl! Also gotta say I love Orly’s bottle with the rubber cap which makes it easy to handle and open.

The brush could be a little wider though. Other than that, no complaints.

I’m not sure what it is, but gray polishes thrill me. I won’t say how many I have, but this is by far the easiest to apply and the most long lasting. It is beautiful! What I like about the color is that it’s gray, but it is not drab, nor is it silver or super dark.

If it weren’t so expensive, I’d buy all the other neutral colors. But alas, it is so expensive. I’ll just wait around until someone gifts me another one.  Thankfully, I have a lot of friends in the industry and someone offered me this one.

Since purchasing a bottle from a Good Morning America promotion, I’ve been a fan. I prefer short nails in grey-ish colors. and Deborah Lippman has a wide palette of choices, some shades only subtly different than others.

The polish is smooth. Even when I haven’t used it in awhile. It’s easy to apply. Whether it’s the polish itself or the top coat, my manicure lasts for at least a week without chipping. I generally bring my own polish to the nail salon.

Nine times out of ten, it’s a bottle of Deborah Lippman.

I received a mini duo of Fire On The Horizon and Can’t Stop The Feeling in March BoxyCharm luxe box. I had heard great things about this polish, how long it lasted etc. This was my first time using this.

I wanted to use the Can’t Stop The Feeling for Easter as it was a pretty pastel pink color. I placed the color on and was lying on my bed to let them dry. Within less than an hour after applying the polish the color had chipped off my big toe! I then re-applied another 2 coats and waited for it to dry only to find it chipped off yet again very shortly after drying! A day later the color had chipped/peeled off the remaining nails.

I just don’t understand how others are able to get such long lasting color payoff from this or how it receives such rave reviews! I plan on giving these to my girls to play with since it doesn’t look like I would be able to wear this without it chipping.
