20 Best Mulching Blades For Toro Timecutter (2023 Updated)

This is a standard replacement blade for a Toro 22 cut lawn mower. This blade hold an edge well and I only touched it up enough to sharpen it before installation and after 60 days using it once a week its still as sharp as when I started.

The blade came new from the factory perfectly balanced and its well worth the price, I have bought cheaper blades and you can sure tell the difference, I recommend this blade that might cost a few dollars more but youll save time and stress as you dont have to worry about this blade its hassle free and thats worth it to me.

I ordered a new blade for my toro push lawnmower. The blade arrive in just a few days securely packaged. It was the correct blade and undamaged. I installed the new blade as part of my lawnmower tune-up.

The blade was put on quickly and I was able resume cutting grass shortly thereafter.

Hard to find items locally are sometimes easier to just order online. My old blade was probably 10 years or older. Direct replacement and easy to change, using a block of wood to keep blade from turning when removing and installing a new one.

Quality part.

I was surprised when I received this blade, expecting more from Oregon. One of the cutting edges was poorly ground with gouges in it. So much so that the blade had to be filed back to restore an edge.

The other edge was passable but was very roughly ground (at least no gouges). I spent an hour with a hand file and brought the edges up to snuff, making sure the blade remained balanced. It was mounted on a Toro 60V Recycler.

This blade is heavier than the Toro factory blade and affected how the mower handled (the personal pace became somewhat grabby, possibly from the inertia of the heavier blade), and did not show any improvement in the mulching ability.

After sharpening, the blade did cut well (good clean cuts on the blades of grass), but so does the OEM blade. I changed back to the OEM blade after giving it a touch-up, and I can say that I prefer its performance.

The mower handled better, and I believe the lighter weight of the Toro blade will be better regarding the life of the mower also. I’ll be buying Toro brand recycler blades from here on out. My lawn is 2500 sq feet, a mixture of Kentucky bluegrass and rye, and gets mowed in the spring about every 3-4 days.

I have a 22 HP Simplicity Lawn Mower with a 44 inch mowing deck. I have always used a bagger with high lift blades. I have redone my entire lawn with hydro-seed and wanted to try mulching to build up the soil and conserve water.

I removed the bagger and mower deck shields off the mower and installed the G3 Gator blades. I have now mowed the new lawn 4 times with the Gator blades. Using only the side discharge on the mower deck the Gators do an outstanding job cutting the grass with less strain on the mower.

However want to mow your grass towards evening when the grass is completely dry in order to avoid any clumps left on the lawn after mowing. I live near Seattle and will use the Gator blades until late September then switch back to the bagger and high lift blades in order to pick up the pine needles before winter.

Very pleased with the Gator blades and the lawn looks great.

Well, I bought this thinking it would mulch better. It mulches grass EXACTLY same as OEM toro blade. It also scrapes ground at same setting as old blade(old blade never scraped ground). I raised the deck 2 clucks and it still scrapes dirt.

I have it installed correctly. This thing is a waste of time to change it and waste of money to buy it. Stay with original blade.

These Oregon 396-712 ( G6 ) High lift Mulching blades have as much lift as the factory high lift non mulching blades. Next time I will try the ( G3) blades , they have lower lift. As i mow a few places that have a lot of dust.

They are good quality ,heavy blades , that will lift and cut tall seed pods , which most other blades leave stranglers standing , causing you to re mow that spot. which will save you time.

This blade is not made to fit a john Deere 54″ mower. Not even close! Don’t waste your money. Buy a different blade that is actually by the manfracturer for this mower. Tried everything including filing it down with the grinding wheel and then re-balancing, even that did not work.

And you surely can’t return a blade once it has been modified to hopefully fit the mower you purchased it for. This blade was not cheap so it was an expensive lesson learned. Go to the John Deere dealership and buy the one that they recommend.

Do not waste your time or money on an what is supposedly a better after market product. Stick with the manufacturer’s brand, it is less expensive and less fustrating in the long run plus you will be mowing your lawn a lot sooner.

I bought these blades to replace the original blades on a Swisher zero turn mower with 202 hours. The OEM Swisher gator blades were pretty rough after 200 hours and cut quality was poor. The Oregon blades appear to be of exceptional quality.

I like to purchase Oregon products like chainsaw chains because they always remain sharper and last longer than OEM chains. These blades likewise seem to be of higher quality and they provided a vastly improved finish cut over the OEM blades they replaced.

Granted, the original blades had over 200 hours of use. The price of these blades is reasonable compared to the OEM blades. This product is a good value vs OEM.

The zipper in the original bag went bad after a fair amount of use. I bought two replacement bags together. The first bag lasted for only four uses before the zipper separated from the bag over a three inch segment.

It was attached by stitching that frays simply by sliding the zipper’s moving part over it. The fraying broke through the stitching and the zipper separated. Now I’m using the second bag, and handling the zipper very gently.

I’m using “armor all” as a lubricant. What a nuisance. After half a dozen uses I see the stitching fraying anyway. It’s worn halfway through. The design is not competent. This is a bad product. Shame on Black & Decker, both of them.

Thickness is not quarter inch. Not as thick as factory or as heavy. That being said these blades perform awesome. They do as designed. If you’re mowing leaves they are the ticket. Still seems to have a LOT of lift (vacuum).

Im gonna run them all seasons to see. Hoping they lift and throw as good as factory while chopping up clippings better the ferris decks seem to struggle with.

I bought these for my father for his birthday because he’s been complaining about clumped up grass and always throwing belts. I bought these a month early for him because the grass was growing faster because of all the rain.

They couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. He calls his rider the Master Shredder now LOL, and with a slightly modified deck opening, full-throttle full speed it’s not how fast you mow it’s how well you mow fast.

Wow, this has to be the most awesome mower blade I’ve ever seen! Aprox twice the weight of the OEM part. I haven’t had a chance to mow yet but I’m sure they will be awesome. With the added weight, Ill be hitting the PTO well before we hit the grass and let the blades pick up to full speed.

They came sharper than any mower blade in the past. When these work as well as expected, I’ll be buying one more for the push mower.

The blades are too thin and don’t last very long. Impact strength is not like it should be. Mower is only 1 year old and had to replace blades already. Also the discharge chute is flimsy plastic and is also broke already.

Toro want ts me to transport the entire mower 60 miles to a dealer to remedy poor quality chute.

Good blade. probably OEM if not it matches the original anyhow. A little confusing when ordering I thought I was getting a blade kit but it’s just a single blade not two nor does it include a bolt or washer.

But to be honest for the price I was half expecting just a single blade.

Good values, lowest price i could find. But I ordered the wrong type, I needed blades for a mulching deck, these are specifically for a non-mulching deck, These work well with the blower shoot open..

Didn’t expect it to be razor sharp, but the edge was really wide, took a fair amount to sharpen it; not a big deal. Love the “stock” questions I’m supposed to answer. Yes, this blade is just compact enough to fit my mower deck, seems to be a good value, and the blade itself starts like a dream! The rest of my mower, not so much.

Got a genuine Toro part for less money than the A* place, plus would rather support a small business! Great place to work with!

Oregon mfg. did a great job making these blades, the powder coating was well done and thick. Fact is the coating is so thick it rounded off the cutting edge. I didn’t like the fact that it was so dull and had to be sharpened before it was used.

Dull blades will tare and pull the grass.

These blades are cheaper than the OEM blades and they last longer. I am cutting ~3 acres of Bahia, so I have to have very sharp blades. I get 5 cuts on new OEM blades before sharpening. These last 7 cuts before first sharpening.

the blades are about 1/4″ too long for a direct replacement for Toro 79016 blades. they hit each other as installed had to take them off and grind about 1/4 inch off of them so they would work. so check the length before putting on these blades to save time.

Good mower i have had it 3 years now , I have a 5 acre yard with alot of tree’s. Even with all the tree roots on top of ground the deck has held up very well. The Kohler engine has plenty of power and easy starting.

Mower cuts very nice , the ride of mower is pretty good doesn’t beat you up to bad after 3 hrs of mowing. I gave it 4 stars , Bad parts about mower , Would be cost to maintain belts , blades ,Filters are not cheap for the Toro , and the rubber grass chute on deck didnt last 3 months before it broke off from going around tree’s.

But even with that its a great mower in general.

The blades didn’t fit our mower. The numbers were right but the hole was wrong size. We returned them. Thanks for asking.

I put these on my dad’s 48” deck Hustler Fastrak and they worked great. I did add a larger washer (Hustler style) to each spindle bolt but TS sells them too.

I needed a new blade after running into a tree stump in long grass, which bent the blade on my mower. This part was easy to find and competitively priced. It arrived on time as promised. It cuts much better now! Thank you.

I can never keep my blade shape enough and eventually they get so worn out from sharpening you need a spare. If you wait till the original blade wears out it is probable that you will have a hard time finding the replacement blade.

I bought two spares and keep they sharp so I only have to put a new blade on and not take time to sharpen it. I am going to keep the mower a long time so I am sure I will get my money out of them. I kept my previous mower 23 years and had a hard time finding blades for it and by that time they were expensive.

I read other reviews from other sources and I found it to be a great replacement for my stock lawn mower blades as I’ve heard some mentioned as well. I was impressed on how these blades perform compared to the blades that were shipped installed on my mower when I originally bought it! Being that these blades kind of cross cut cause of it three shark fins cut vertically as well the grass clippings are so minimal in size that it comes out close to powder so you don’t have clumps of grass coming out of the mower’s discharge chute! As a result of the clippings being minimal, clean up under my mower deck was a breeze and if you have wash out ports that you can hook up your garden hose to would be more sufficient with these blades compared to the original blades! When I installed these blades, I took the opportunity to wash under the mowers deck thoroughly and gave it a coat of wax which also helps reduce the accumulated grass clippings from sticking underneath! It is also good to check your tire pressure at this time to help archive a good cut!.

The blade is the manufacturer’s replacement for the one that came with the mower. It cuts just like the old one did before I hit a tree stump with it. I’m pleased to be able to mow my lawn again – but not too pleased.

Picked this up for my Huskee 21 in cut mower, since it is made by MTD as a private label item. Cut 1/2 the season (I live in the deep south and it’s a long season) and just sharpened it up. Got the place looking good!.
