20 Best Mountain Bike Lights Under $100 (2023 Updated)

This is the cutest little, high techy looking light I’ve ever seen, small enough to make an excellent helmet light, which is how I use it. But, in spite of an unexplained photo of the light on a helmet via a mounting bracket, no mounting bracket is included.

I had to then had to wait for the bracket in a seperate order. The battery pack also of good quality. In spite of my frustration I would definitely recommend this light.

I bought this for an all night ride. I charged fully and tested that it worked. It failed on the highest setting after approximately 35 minutes. On the second lap it failed after about 50 minutes on 2nd highest setting.

Subsequent testing (running indoors) gives run time on highest setting at around 1hr 30. I guess this is probably JUST okay to not send it back but nowhere near good enough to recommend it.

Nothing short of brilliant. Super bright at a great price in a vey manageable size. I think the best thing about this generation of the Magishine is how easily it all mounts to a headstrap, that’s both the lamp and the battery.

So I can wear this walking the dog, cross country skiing or riding my bike as a head lamp and not worry about a cable dangling around my head or shoulders. I love this light.

In a world where quality bikes & gear have gotten ridiculously pricey this light set offers very good quality & performance at a thankfully reasonable cost. On lesser expensive lights like these the flaps covering the USB port are decent but over time will possibly leak.

I place a small piece of duct tape over them when not charging batteries to extend product life. Easy. All things considered these lights are a great value for the $$. Time will tell as of their durability and/if warranty is solid if needed.

Using these lights as giving me an added feeling of safety when I am on my bike. If I have to ride in the evening hours the lights illuminate brightly so drivers can see me clearly. The design of both lights are slick and aesthetically pleasing, the quality of the lights is superb, and the feeling of security and safety is priceless.

Very bright and easy to attach to bikes. I purchased five of them and they all work great. Don’t waste your money on the cheap ones. I purchased the cheap ones and they were garbage. Hope this helps.

Very strong light, necessitating re-positioning regarding oncoming traffic, and attaches securely to the handlebar. Main drawback is the 4-5 hour run-time before the red (charge me!) light comes on. However, it works for my 3-4 hour max.

rides, and is quite visible in daylight as well. Have only used it on Flash Mode, so no idea of the run-time in other modes. Good quality for the price. The enclosed booklet states to completely discharge the light once a month, but that should be quite easily done by just leaving it on when you get back from the ride.

Light works great and is very bright. High/Low option helps to extend battery life. The reason for the 4 Star is the charging options. Basically, the light needs to be un-mounted to be charged since USB is the only option.

One could rig something up to avoid this but it’s not as convenient. I’m using the set on an “adult” electric kick scooter to be seen more than anything and it works great for that. The headlight is bright enough to actually be useful.

The multi-mode flashing red tail light is good mounted high on my seat post in the rear.

I bought 2 of this light. One works fine. Second light has a faulty switch. Does not turn off. Emailed SHENKEY DIRECT USA. They will not replace or answer any request. Waste of money. Will not buy this again.

Very strong light from quality materials. It is also small in size and very light. It is a very good choice and at a low price. It remains to be seen how long they will last.

This set is great value for the money. It is well made, easy to install, and works. I liked it so well I bought a set for my spouse’s bicycle, and a third set for my older bike. The headlight and taillight have three settings each; solid on, slow blink and fast blink.

I feel a lot safer riding my bike with these lights attached.

During my ride, it brake a part. I made sure it was right setting but cover falls off first then…

but that’s just not so! I got these for a song compared to the big name lights. VERY bright, both the taillight and the headlight! Buttons easy to figure out and both USB rechargeable. Both lights have quick release buttons which is good if you’re worried about sticky fingers where you leave your bike.

The taillight can be mounted on the seat stay which I really wanted because my saddle bag is attached to my seat post and there simply isn’t room for anything else to be visible there. As for the brightness.

WOW!! Didn’t expect them to be that bright. Of course the last time I had lights on a bike was when I was a kid (mid 1970’s) and they were operated by 2 D cell batteries and lasted about 5 minutes, but still, you can see forever with these.

Both lights have flashing modes as well. The taillight has what can best be described as a strobe mode too. Which I could definitely see being beneficial in preventing gettingrunoveritis. In short, well worth the money!.

Small, solid, easy to handle, very bright light with options for low to high bright. Great price for what you get. I use it as a flashlight as well as a bike light. The delivery was fast and the packaging kept it safe.

Comes with instructions. A free tail light is a great perk! All attachments come with as well as usb charging chords. Ive bought two of these before and I left them both is the Carib post hurricane with no electricity.

I got my lights in the mail last night and I installed them after a 3 hour charge. I added them to my travel scooter disability scooter. Bought the headlight and got the rear light for free and let me tell you the LIGHT UP THE ROAD LIKE A CAR HEADLAMP.

Taillight is so bright you could see it flashing from a mile in the dark of night. simply amazing product. I can go anywhere in the bike lane now and be seen by all the drivers of the road.

I know that 51% of bike accidents happen from the rear. Over 30% of bike accidents happen on the side (or which both driver and biker share responsibility) The biggest comment by a driver is I did not see him.

Could it be wearing black on black on black and no lights at all? My reflectors on rear, front and wheels are just so dim when viewed from a moving vehicle. I got two blue lights for lower frame and two red light for rear corners of helmet.

Now I have plenty of illumination on my sides and rear. I also have rear LED light and front LED bright flashing. While this is no guarantee to being hit by vehicle, it does surely reduce the possibility.

Bright flashing red light for rear of bicycle. able to use US made AAA cells. Can be screwed to bicycle to prevent theft. #6 – 1″ screws. Protect from rain with a plate over it, it will fill up with rain & die.

I use a sheet of polycarbonate over it. Cells last > 4 hours, will run to 0. 5 v which is unusual. Flashes fast when battery is dying.

I regularly use this light along with a costlier, unreliable Serfas light. The Gator has a longer lasting battery. The only flaw it had was the rubber button falling off. Put scotch tape over the button & it will never fall off.

I picked this up as a gift for my g.f.’s bike. Wow, I was really impressed. Both front and rear lights work awesome. I highly recommend this item.

Arrived very fast, very bright and we’ll made with a Full metal body. Only the lens is plastic. Had 3 main modes of low, medium and high. Even low is more than enough to see well as it has a medium round hot spot with a slightly large square spill light.

This allows you to get some good light right in front of your bike and more to either side and ahead. On high the beam is visible about 250 feet away and really lights up even pitch black roads. It also had the ability to swivel left and right to aim it where you need it.

The mechanism had nice solid clicks when you move it from side to side so it won’t move from where you want it in bumps. Strap hold is very thick and holds on securely on the bars. The mount also has a quick disconnect feature to take it with you for security or to use as a flashlight.

When you hold the power button it switches to the 3 flashing modes of low power flash, high flash and fast high flash. Orange switch light comes on to see it in the dark to. The tail light is also very bright with a nice mounting bracket that also clicks firmly into place at different angles.

My only complaint is that the tail light uses button cell batteries which I personally dislike as they don’t last long enough and are to expensive to keep buying. But it has to dohopefully they’ll last a while.

Not sure on overall run time but it has an 18650 rechargeable battery than can be removed via the rear access Port and seems to be replaceable. Overall. An excellent set as you’ll light up a pitch black path it forest well and see and be seen with both lights.

I bought these to replace my old lights S the old mounts broke. These lumatrail lights are alot heavier as the body is aluminum. The beam is a very long thinner more flashlight type beam than my old lights.

Kinda like if i can see far ahead its hard to see the ground 3 ft from me. Luckily i purchased 2 so i can have good coverage with one low n one high. At the price 2 lights are still an ok option in the world of mtb lights.

I really have had no problems with them. The instrucktions are sparse but its easy to figure out red leds flash when charging and stop when fully charged. The only complaint i have is the tail lights are not rechargable.

They take 2 watch batteries that can be hard to find good replacements for and are dangerous for little kids and pets.

The taillight is excellent! Compact but very bright for a taillight. It has a lot of modes, but it also has a “memory” feature so each time you turn it on, it starts out in the same mode you used last time so it’s very convenient.

It even has white-light modes that could allow it to be used as a headlight in a pinch. The headlight seems well constructed but it is far far dimmer than promised. The ad says 1000 lumens, and the documentation that comes with it says 600 lumens, but by comparing it to other lights I’d say it’s maybe 150 lumens in its brightest mode.

That’s about average for an LED headlight. So, its usable but nothing special. I’m still in the market for a GOOD headlight.

Really nice combo here with the headlight and tail light. Headlight is super bright and has a nice pattern and road coverage. Adjustable light intensity is nice too depending on how much light you need.

You will be really visable to traffic! The adjustable rubber straps that come with it are great and secure. Attaching to your bike is easy. I like the different size straps included. I used one to attached the tail light to the rear of my helmet.

USB rechargeable headlight and tail light is great! No more wasting batteries. Just be sure to keep it charged as I have found that after a week or so of no use, it did lose its charge. Charges quick though and seems to last.

This is my second Cycle Torch Shark headlight. One for me, one for my little son. Provide a very bright and wide light, long lasting battery. Very sturdy, aluminum case, easy to recharge. The little tail light is a great bonus.

It worths every single penny of it.

This is a great product of quality and at a reasonable price, from the box it was packaged in to the bonus taillight, 5 light modes and the taillight has 4 I believe, the front offers a strobe which I use for daytime.

This whole package is a Big Bang for your buck. If I had to pick one thing that could use an upgrade it would be the headlight mount it is a bit sloppy,(loose), but Im very satisfied and I will absolutely recommend this light.

I was very excited to receive the bike light. Once I got it in from the mail I immediately opened it and placed it on my bicycle. I am a frequent bicycle rider that rides around in many random areas.

This light makes it easier for drivers as well as pedestrians to visually notice me while I’m on the road. It provides its own flare as well which makes it super fun. The light is designed efficiently.

The fact that it’s also a light emitting diode sits well on my conscious. Overall, I am very pleased with this item and I wouldn’t doubt that I possibly will be ordering a second one. :p.

I was so happy when I got this but only to find out that it doesn’t work. I found out I had to press very hard the battery component into the light compartment itself. I came on only if I put my finger pressing it hard holding the battery.

UGH!!!! WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! It’s not worth nearly 20 bucks, for this its JUNK! Besides now my fingers hurt. there’s obviously a short in the darn thing!!.

I love this fairly small bike light. It sits nicely on my handlebars and has plenty of light that allows motorists to see me easily. Really like the available options to choose from; 100% light and two flashing modes on both the rear and front light.

My last bike light was ruined by a leaking alkaline battery. This one has a rechargeable battery that saves me the worry. I also liked that this light is easy to install or remove from the bike. It can be done quickly as there are no screws to deal with.

A rubber piece goes around the handlebars or bike seat pipe and links with a plastic piece on the light to keep it in place. Overall, I stand impressed by the small size of this bike light and will be recommending it to all fellow cyclists.

A serious tech advance in bike lighting. Better than expected quality, with easy removal and charging through USB power. These are tiny, the size of a pilot’s chronograph, with unexpectedly good battery life.

Different flashing modes are available to ensure you get noticed by drivers on their cell phones. I cannot find serious fault with these, although the small size and small batteries mean compromises in battery life and light output, although I used these for three rides before recharging, with no loss of light output.

Another issue is that the edge of the plastic lens bezel extends below the edge of the sleek aluminum ring, focusing headlight glare into the rider’s face. I painted the bezel edge with black paint to eliminate the issue.

A better solution would be to extend the aluminum ring all the way to the black plastic base. Otherwise, these units are clean, simple, reliable and stylish, without using disposable batteries and permanent clamps.

The rubber ladder-bungee makes for a quick, secure connection that doesn’t slip. No permanent bike frame clamps either. An intelligently thought out design with only one small, easily-remedied design issue.

Lovely LED bike lights. Easy to install and constructed well. The housing is made using high grade rubber that protects the assembly even when you drop it. The power switch is located on the top and has 4 push settings; dim, bright, flash, rapid flash.

They are brighter than you would expect given their size. Mine are in use as safety flashers when I travel down the roadway on my mower or on my side by side. The clip on the back which includes a rubber strap makes mounting easy.

The light come with USB charging cords included for each light. Great value on the lights with one red lenses and one white lens that add safety in your travels.

Overall I like these lights. I use them on my ten speed for daylight running lights. I don’t think they would be remotely adequate for night riding. They are not expensive, they are rechargeable, and they are easy to operate.

Pressing the lens twice turns them on, then one press each to cycle through the flashing modes. The lights also have a fully charged indicator. My only complaints are I’m not sure 20 and 10 lumens is bright enough.

I sometimes feel a little underpowered. Also the supplied bans can be a little short in length depending on where you’re mounting them on the bike. I wish the bands were a little longer.

Pro: Solid built quality, compact, sleek design, relatively light weight, very affordable, comes with two micro-USB charge cables, has full charge indicator, three light modes for front and back, easy to turn on, bright to be seen, comes with third replacement harness band.

Con: Front light projection is mediocre. Not easy to remove light off band to charge if one’s bike has wide diameter frame and handle bar.

I own a Cycletorch taillight and it works great. I bought a set from this ebay ad and the taillight switch didn’t work very well and the front light switch was better but not perfect. I returned the lights without any hassle.

Have two of these which I fasten to the dog harness of my two Border Collies. Unconventional, maybe, but they keep the dogs visible and safe at night both on the road and when running loose over the fields.

Different flash patterns enables me to identify each dog at a distance and they can be clearly seen over a quarter of a mile away. These are used for at least two hours every day and I recharge them once every five days (to be on the safe side) so good battery life in use.

Over a year old now and no problems. Remember these lights are designed to BE SEEN and NOT to provide light by which to see. I don’t know what Brightside would make of it but they beat illuminated dog collars hands down! Great product.

Working on the premise that, if you cycle during the hours of darkness, the more flashing lights that you have on your bike to aid visibility can only be a good thing. This double sided light solves the issue of making you more visible from the side.

I found it possesses a good strong flash, it has a decent battery life between charges, is easy to fit and swap between bikes. If you are concerned about your side visibility then I would recommend that you should consider it.

An excellent product, well designed to do what it does: make a cyclist much more visible from the side. I have found that the fully-charged Brightside, when used in rapid-blink mode, lasts many hours (first charged, so far about 4 hours +, and not yet in need of recharge) until it needs recharging.

Additional note: This little thing went over the advertised 36 hours before it needed to be recharged! Astounding battery life for any bright LED device! The blinking amber LEDs are visible even in broad daylight.

From dusk onward into the night, they seem extremely bright and definitely draw motorists’ attention. The only quibble: while the light itself snaps tightly into it’s plastic holder, the holder is held onto the bike tube by a rubber-like strap, which stretches around the bike tube and fits into 4 little connection points (2 on each side) on the plastic light holder.

The rubber will degrade over time, I’m sure, and even if this is not taken into account, the attachment alignment doesn’t really seem precise or rock-solid secure to me. I improved this arrangement by stretching a Voire nano strap around the holder and tube: fully secure, now.

We bought two of these these because several years ago we bought three different kinds of the inflatable lights to try them out and they never even deflated in all this time. We were totally amazed how bright these lights are.

We put one in each car for emergency lights and just take them out to use them on our bikes. It is brilliant how they figured out a way to use one solar panel to charge both the front and back lights.

I really like how well made the light set is, and how quickly the MPOWERD team answered my questions. The headlight works great and is easy to attach and detach from my handlebars. And, of course, it is yet another bit of solar light gear suitable for emergencies, along with my set of Luci lanterns.

The only thing I would change is that I would suggest that a line drawing diagram of where and how the headlight and taillight attach to the bike would be a great addition to the website. Theheadlight is a good fit for my bike, but since I am short, there really isn’t much room below my bike seat to attach the taillight to the seat post, so I am going to attempt some kind of mounting tube to attach to the rear bike rack where I can attach the taillight.

VERY COOL DESIGN and lightweight. Great that the lights can easily be removed to prevent theft when locking up outside. Also, the brightness is more than sufficient for safety and visibility. It would be great in the next iteration if the mounting system for the front light could optionally turn 90 degrees vs.

the light unit so that it could be mounted either horizontally on handlebars or vertically on the handlebar stem, since handlebars can get a bit crowded with brake levers, bells, smartphones, etc. Overall – this is a great product!! I recommend these highly!.

Very good product, works as designed. my second set. I like the compactness. But it will only last for 2 years. I kept mine indoors for the entire time. Somehow the switch mechanism corrodes, becoming inoperative and/or intermittent.

Tried changing batteries. spraying with electronic cleaner. no help. It’s cheap enough to just replace it and still as good as much more expensive units. I would buy it again.

These rear lights arrived on time, but after using one of them for the first time (in this instance, by my wife on her bike late at night), it turned on, but would do nothing else. By nothing else, I mean nothing: no flashing, no changing, and no turning off.

I was unable to turn off the light until I dismantled it. No pressing, prodding, or any other manipulation would turn the light off (other than unscrewing it and taking it completely apart). I guess you get what you pay for.

VERY disappointed. Haven’t tried the other light yet, but I’m not hopeful.

Bright light, Strobng features are highly visible. Inconsistent operation when lens is pushed in. Sometimes it works and other times not. Weak connection?

I purchased the NiteRider Lumiina Boost 1000 from REI using my end of year dividends. I noticed that this model was on sale in a number of other cycling stores, including about 40% less cost on Amazon.

I paid REI full retail for this, $30 – $40 dollars above what I could have paid otherwise – but I wouldn’t have upgraded my existing NiteRider 600 headlight if it wasn’t basically a free purchase via the dividend.

The OLED 600 is still going strong – I wanted more lumens and duration. Light and mount are solid – I already used an older OED 600 so I know the functions. The new light is brighter at all levels, and has significantly more duration at the lower lumens levels.

But, to get “boost” mode – the full 1000 lumens – a “double click” on the single toggle button is prescribed. The toggle is supposed to turn from “blue” to “red and blue. ” I am not able to make this happen, no matter how many double-clicks I try.

So now it’s an overpriced 750 lumen headlight. Perhaps there’s a reason prices were slashed on this specific light at other retailers.

In my testing, I found that the battery life does not seem to match manufacture advertising. Big surprise right?! I also wasn’t blown away by the amounts of light it put out for the price point. With that being said, it is pretty light.

I’m not sure if it’s light enough to be used as a mounted helmet lamp, but it isn’t too heavy even for that application. I was super disappointed to find out that in order for NiteLink to work you need to purchase a controller to link all of your lights that are compatible with that technology which in my opinion is just flat out greedy.

I would have prefer if I was just able to link my front light with my tail light without the need for an additional accessory which also clutters your handlebar. Last thing I want to note is that the USB Type-C charging is also pretty slow despite the advantages of Type-C charging speeds over micro USB.

Overall it’s a good lamp, just a bit overpriced. I would just get the one without the NiteLink if I could do it all over again and save some cash.

Very good mid priced light set. Strap for the rear light is heavy rubber, and it should last a long time. I like that the light can be removed from the mount for charging. I have only used the front light once on a short ride.

It is very bright, however it lacks the ability to pivot the light side-to-side. So if you need to mount it off center, your light pattern will be off center. The effect is worse if your bars are angled back as you move from center.

Probably not a big deal for most users. Final thing. please please let’s stop manufacturing new things that use USB-B connectors. If it was USB-C, I would give it 5 stars.

I buy these to put on my dogs harnesses so they are visible from the front and sides. They are visible for almost a 1/2 mile. The red ones are quite bright but I prefer the brightness of the white lights.

I find they work better than the lighted dog collars, especially if the dog has longer fur. I’ve had numerous people stop me to thank me for making sure they can see us while out of walks, considering we walk between 4:30 a.

m. to 6:30, so, it’s pretty dark. The flash feature works great for getting peoples attention. The batteries last about six months or more, depending on use. They are deffinitely worth it. I will buy these again.

Easiest light I’ve ever purchased. few seconds to install and super easy to turn on even if you are already riding and forgot to turn it on. quick reach with one hand-press and go. Also bc of the shape it is easy to clean if your bike gets messy.

I’ve been using these as safety lights on kayaks and passengers. White stern light on boat, blinking red on PFD (lifejacket) of paddler. They last through at least 2 tours of 3 hours each, give much greater visibility of boat and paddler at night when do tours, and seem to resist water better than most lights.

I keep buying. Biggest issue – customers walk off with them! I will buy again as needed.

OK – So I got this for the bike, and they are great because you can fit them anywhere securely. This means that if you go anywhere and leave bike, you can very easily take them off and put them in your pocket – or wherever.

AND THEN! I discovered how good they are to use near my “home office”. Not really an office, but somewhere my computer is and I do not want a huge amount of light. SO – Just attach the light wherever, and Bobs your uncle, you have a fantastic night light.
