16 Best Monitor To Work From Home (2023 Updated)

I purchased these monitors back in August. The monitors are nice and big and sit well with my eveo monitor arms. A few months after use, I notice a vertical line on the right side of my screen. I was hoping it was a driver, cable, or refresh rate issue.

Just my luck it was none of those. The 3 month grace period passed for me to return/exchange the product. Now I’m stuck with a monitor with a vertical line that’s going to get worse as time goes on. I’m usually particular about uniformity with the products I use, but once I render this monitor unusable I may replace with my dell monitor that I’ve had for 8 years with no issue.

Overall, I like ViewSonic, I purchase their 22″ monitors for work all the time, but this personal purchase left a bad taste in my mouth.

I bought two of these monitors, and they both have the same strange problem. Whenever they are powered on, or come on after going to sleep, they are in some bizarre mode where display quality ( particularly for text) is mediocre.

Text (whether it is black on white or white on black) has the rainbow effect. It almost looks like the monitor is not synched properly, or some other signal conditioning is not getting applied. I am running Ubuntu 16.

04 using DisplayPort, (with two different brands of cables) and have not tried any other connections. To correct the problem, I go to the menu and switch the ViewMode to a different setting (which fixes the problem), and then back to the ViewMode I want.

Apparently this “wakes up” some aspect of the monitor’s firmware, and the signal is properly displayed. Once operating properly, the monitors perform as expected for the price.

It has a panel of buttons to manually tune in the monitor. It has adequate sound. It is nice to have speakers in the monitor to eliminate wires and speakers. My speakers had high quality stereo sound.

These are very good but not at high quality as my separate Sony speakers.

The display overall is good and sharp. With the “Uniformity Compensation” feature turned on, it does test fairly uniform with DisplayCAL software and an i1 Display Pro. The downside is that if you do hardware calibration with Custom Color mode, the Gain/Offset/Hue/Saturation controls are all disabled.

Only the Brightness/Contrast can be adjusted. The CAL1/CAL2 modes automatically turn off Uniformity Compensation too. Why does the monitor have Uniformity Compensation if you can’t use it with hardware calibration? Other downsides: Dell X-Rite software hasn’t been updated since 2016.

It is also not as accurate as DisplayCAL. It also has no BT. 1886 Gamma 2. 4 for video, only Rec. 709. When adding a second UP2716D to my system, the Dell Calibration software now locks up and is unusable.

Dell has no solutions for it and I have to now use X-Rite or third party software like DisplayCAL.

After having a replacement unit sent because of back light non-uniformity on the first one, I was expecting much better. This is an $800 MSRP “professional grade” color display that comes with a factory color and luminance uniformity calibration report, but in both cases, the numbers didn’t match up with what you actually see.

The first unit had about a 2-3″ radial hot spot in one corner, a 1-2″ in another that extended along the bottom edge about 6-7″. The replacement unit only has one 2″ hot spot in the upper left corner, but it’s a defect that shouldn’t be there given Dell’s claims for the market segment of this display.

In any case, it’s still suitable for photo editing because you aren’t using the corners of the display very often in that use case. The colors do adjust very easily to match the print output of the photo lab I use and in every other regard it’s a quality monitor with lots of features, so I’ll hang onto it.

Dell’s QC process needs some work though and their product should meet their product claims, which I’m not sure it does in this case. Newegg was excellent in getting a return setup and a replacement unit sent out and answered all my questions quickly in that process.

DELL disappoints me on UP2716D. Bought two and have problem since day one. Firstly, items listed is “BRAND NEW”, but I found out serial number on monitor body does NOT match the box. That does NOT look good.

Secondly, I created identification connections and configurations on both monitors but one monitor shows strong green cast on the left and purple cast on the right. Monitors are on Adobe RGB colour space and hilariously support told me to use other present modes to resolve it.

I log a replacement request on the SAME day these monitor arrive. The screen is advertised for its “Professional-grade color” but reality is only when it works. Next day, Dell logistic team called me and wants to dispatch a REFURBISHED stock for my replacement request.

No way I will accept this punishment and I rejected the dispatch and re-request brand new stock sent. After painful engagements, and one week passed. A “brand new” replacement monitor arrived. Guess what? The serial number of the body does NOT match the box again, feel strange.

Colour uniformity on the new unit is BETTER, thankfully. BUT after I aligned it to my other new DELL UP2716D, The replacement is clearly warmer at IDENTICAL setup. Log support again and DELL first reply “both monitors are working properly” and “viewing angle caused the colour difference”.

DELL want me to make the room dark and turn screen to 100% brightness to troubleshoot. What an excuse!! I aligned the screens at same level, took photo from distance to avoid viewing angle difference.

There is white/yellow contrast between the two monitors. DELL support just won’t acknowledge it. Anyway, I adjusted my room and monitor as they said, the warmer colour temperature is even more noticeable.

Then, DELL said I need a colour calibration tool to make them look identical. At this price range, customers expect more predictable colour consistency and better customer service. This is a complete disaster, support case number SR 948294878, if DELL management cares about your customer.

Hard to find a monitor for a retina Mac, even more so for an older (2013). This Dell caught my eye after extensive research, in part because it had a mini-displayport connection. After I took delivery, I tried to get the monitor to be recognized with a Thunderbolt cable I had, but had barely used.

Didn’t work after repeated tries, restarts, settings. I had tried the enclosed DP to Thunderbolt cable without success, but I tried it again after learning a bit more about the monitor’s controls. Immediate success, and absolutely no problems since.

I thought that the Dell might be inferior to my retina Mac, but the details and fonts are just as crisp in my working distance from both screens. The Dell stand also adjusts for height, pans, and tilts.

Obviously different worlds between Dell and Apple, but this match fits.

Product works good, and represents an excellent value for me. The reason for my 4-star rating instead of five stars is because the front power LED does not work, and this was not disclosed at the time of sale.

However, this is a minor issue for me and so all is well. Aside from that, this is an amazing 27 display. I love having so many inputs for all of my devices, and the 1440p resolution is perfect for this size monitor.

Colors are excellent as well. I also love the near-bevel less design, very minimalistic. Overall, an excellent value.

I retired my 10 year old Dell 1708FP & moved up to the P1917S. It’s a great unit & really helped with my 75 year old vision. It has numerous settings with extreme clarity for text & photo creation software.

The widescreen monitors do not provide the screen dimensions I enjoy. I’m thrilled that Dell produces a 5:4 monitor of this quality!.

I have this monitor for almost six months now. It works great. Someone might say that it lacks features such as Ethernet, USB-C, or Thunderbolt, but most complaints I’ve seen about monitors were related to these gimmicks.

Why would I want a USB hub and Ethernet switcher on the monitor when I can get them separately. What happens when they break or become outdated? Do I have to swap everything? For those who need a *display*, this is the right thing.

And it is not entirely featureless – it has all the essential features you might ever need from a display. If I was LG, I’d take even the speakers out!.

I have this monitor for about a few months, and it keeps disappointing me: Colors are not uniform – grey is not the same grey on the left and the right side of the monitor. USB SS 900mA charging port is fake – tested and measured (Unlike Dell).

Colors are oversaturated, and the menu is difficult to work with. Contrast affects gamma values, which is not acceptable, and the list of cons goes on to infinity. My advice? STAY AWAY!.

I bought this monitor for upgrading my old 1080p LG. Curved giving me very comfortable viewing experience – you don’t have to adjust eye focus. brilliant color, It is great for watching HDR 4K movies, photo editing, casual gaming (not serious FPS game), office.

This is a multi-task monitor. My video card (750ti) does not support 144Hz anyway. But LG is always good for color and reliability. Thumbs up!.

Because working from home has become a common occurrence, I wanted to add an additional monitor to my match the spare one I was using for my work. It is an exact match and is in great shape, with identical image quality.

Very happy.

I have 3 of these, all displayed side by side and the simple matted bezel doesnt draw away attention from whats on the screen and i love that. My oldest monitor of the three has lasted 5+ years without any problems.

The screen resolution (1680×1050) is a little awkward to find the best wallpaper suitable for its size but i dont think its much of a draw back. They’re a bit heavy but then again, these monitors have been around for a long time so just dont expect these to be paper thin and light as a feather.

they’re bright enough for what i need them for (watching movies and gaming) and the response time is bareable; it’s nothing i can notice. They’ve gone pretty cheap so its not a bad choice if you just wanted screen realestate for the buck.

They dont have the ability to be viewed in portrait mode but thats not a big deal either. I’m satisfied with my purchases but i believe i will sell these eventually to buy another set of 3. These also have great thin bezels so its great displaying them side by side!!.

I got this monitor when I bought my Dell Vostro 200 a couple of years ago, it came free with the computer. In fact I am using this monitor right now as I type this review. It has worked flawlessly since the day I got it.

I turn it on and off multiple times a day, so that is thousands of uses and tens of thousands of hours being on. Over time a LCD will fade. The picture on this monitor has faded very little. The monitor menu has many options to adjust brightness, contrast and other internal settings.

I only used it once to setup how I like and it has remained true ever since. It has a very nice tilt range, more than other monitors I use. It is also very stable no matter how you tilt it which can sometimes be a problem if you bump the desk and the monitor falls over.

There is a convient cord coral built into the base so you can have the power and data cables going right out the back, out of the way.

monitor works fine. Colors are good and the off-axis viewing is good. Maybe it could have a been a little brigher and the text quality wasn’t awesome and the response is a little slow. Probably more expensive monitor would be better in these regards.

But this is definitely a good buy for the money and for the office user or casual user, you will be very happy!.

Love it, Wish I had bought the E2720H. I paid $30 extra for the Variable height stand when I put this monitor on a arm mount. Stand is real nice.

I love that the screen is EASILY hight adjustable! It’s a great size for working in excel and other programs. The reduced blue-light feature is also really nice.

I was looking for a touch screen monitor with as much real estate as I could get and for the price the Planar Helium doesn’t disappoint. It offers a good variety of connection options with a DisplayPort, VGA, and HDMI ports.

It also has 2x USB 2. 0 ports on the rear and 3. 5mm audio in/out jacks. It came with a VGA, HDMI, and audio cable as well as a cord wrap and a small cell-phone style stylus (which, while appreciated, is not optimal for such a large screen).

The onboard speakers are pretty tinny, but I didn’t even realize that it had built in speakers before I purchased it so that’s no let-down. I was very impressed by the kickstand attached to the backside of the monitor, it feels very steady when upright at 15 degrees and will hold the unit anywhere along the way down to 70 degrees.

When it is in it’s lowest position, it is easy to type using on-screen keyboards and take full advantage of the multi-touch functionality. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. I originally planned to use a wall mount for the screen, but the kickstand works so well I’ve stuck with it for the last few months.

Now for the bad: -This is a HEAVY monitor. It is much heavier even than some of it’s all-in-one counterparts such as the Lenovo Horizon (although it is comparable to the A740). -There is a fair amount of light bleed toward the lower corners of the screen.

It lessens slightly when the monitor is reclined to its lowest position, so I suspect that this may be a symptom of its weight putting pressure on the display. It becomes noticeable when viewing darker images and video.

-It is sometimes difficult to manage cords connected to the monitor. I have both all of the ports except for the audio in/out occupied and there is noticeable resistance from the bending cords when tilting the screen p and down.

It seems that it would have been better to put the ports on one side of the screen considering the motion that the screen makes. It is a small downside, but it does become a nuisance from time to time.

-I won’t short this monitor for not being QHD because of when it came out, but the image quality isn’t perfect. Like I said, it’s great for multi-tasking, but the color and sharpness aren’t where I would want them to be for work in photoshop.

I build commercial kiosk setups with touch screens and have tried several on the market. These are by far the best. They are a bit pricier than some, but it’s well worth it considering three things: 1.

The power supply is built in and can handle both 120v and 220v. 2. There is a USB 3. 0 hub built in, powered by the onboard power supply, which also serves as the data link for the touchscreen. On other screens I’ve tried, the touch sensor in the screen is powered by the USB connection from the computer, which causes problems in my case.

No such problems here. 3. There’s no maker’s mark or anything visible from the front, which is ideal for my needs. I don’t use the stand it comes with, but it’s better than other touchscreens I’ve dealt with.

It also comes with a full set of cables, including audio for the dinky speakers built in.

Purchased the 32UL950-W on Amazon Prime day ’20 to make advantage of the slightly discounted price in combination with rewards points I’d accumulated. This brought the cost down from very expensive to merely expensive.

Opted for this model for two primary reasons: screen real estate and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. Also influencing my decision: I’ve a LG OLED 55″ TV that I’m very pleased with. In these times of WFH where home office space is at a premium I use the LG for double duty.

The HDMI input is connected directly to my work issued Dell laptop. I work 12-hour shifts on a rotating, two week schedule so having a high quality display makes it easier to stare at for hours on end.

The second connection is via TB3 to a CalDigit TS3Plus also connected by TB3 to a late-2016 MacBook Pro where I predominantly use Audio/MIDI software as an amateur musician. The 2nd USB-C connection on the 32UL950 is used for a Logitech StreamCam as there is no built in Webcam on the LG.

This is used for FaceTime and Zoom calls with an eye towards doing some live streaming. This configuration allows me to easily swap between work and home by merely toggling between input connections on the LG.

The OnScreen Control app is useful, but I’d already been using Mosaic (and previously Magnet) to manage window layouts on macOS 10. 15. I seem to recall having difficulty running the bundled apps and firmware from the web download URLs and opted to install those from the bundled CD and allow them to auto-updated individually until I arrived at the current versions when I installed the LG.

YMMV. In combination with the MBP, my 50something year old eyes find the 2560 x 1440 setting the easiest to read, but I typically run at 3008 x 1692 as an acceptable compromise between maximizing the screen real estate and readability.

That said, this monitor looks fantastic at 3840 x 2160 which I use on occasion for streaming content. In regards to software the welcome trend of scalable GUI’s makes it easier to use this monitor when running at higher resolutions, but not all legacy software will see this type of update hence switching between resolutions is nice.

Prior to opting for this monitor I’d long considered the very capable 27UK850 (now replaced by the 27UN850), but opted for this display as previously stated, due to the larger screen and TB3 connectivity.

That being said, I’m fairly confident I could have run a comparable configuration utilizing the DisplayPort option on either of those monitors. The lack of a built in WebCam is a concern and I opted for the StreamCam to make use of 1080p at 60fps which USB 3.

0 (on a USB-C connection) accommodates for (at some expense of CPU. ) File under ‘In for a penny, in for a pound. ‘ I’ve run various other USB accessories (Flash Drives and and external LG CD-ROM) from the additional ports on the 32UL950 with no issues.

I appreciate the inclusion of these ports as they can be useful at times. The mounting stand is sturdy and easily assembled and obscures the cables from view, but I’ve a notion my home office desk will be replaced/upgraded at which point I’ll acquire a mounting arm to free up even more desktop space.

Purchased for working from home, after having used this exact monitor in the office. Replaced a dual 24 inch monitor setup. Good for having Outlook on one half, and Team on the other, or two Excel spreadsheets side by side.

Works at the full resolution with both my work laptop (Intel) and my M1 Macbook Pro, with both laptops just using the the USBC cable for both monitor and power. One cable replaced the power cable, the HDMI, the USBC monitor cable as well.

I did look at some 34 inch monitors in this category, from Phillips and also HP, which were similarly priced (even a bit cheaper with the sales at the time), but I ended up buying this one because LG also have a good reputation, and as I have used these at work, and they are great.

Refresh rate goes up to 100Hz but I can’t tell you if they are good for games. I tried playing League of Legends on the big screen; it fills the screen but it’s almost too big; I tried Civilisation IV but it can’t use the entire screen real estate.

Speakers are OK and better than the laptop speakers, but it’s as expected for monitor speakers. The control is by a little joystick bottom centre of the screen which I found intuitive to use. I mainly use this for work, so I can’t fault this monitor for this purpose.

Have had this monitor for about 2 weeks now. I got it because it substantially simplifies my home set up. I have a work laptop and a personal desktop computer at the same desk, both of which I use with two monitors.

I have one keyboard and one mouse. Previously, I had a huge rat’s nest of cables, plus an external kvm switch, to allow me to toggle the keyboard, monitors, and mouse between the two computers. It worked, but it was a clunky solution.

With this monitor the kvm switch is built in AND it has a displayport out port, which I found to be a rare combination. A few of the Dell U-series monitors have that function, but they’re almost all more expensive than this monitor.

The result is that I can now daisy-chain this monitor to one of my old monitors, plug my laptop in with a single usb-c cable, and connect my desktop with one usb-a to usb-b cable and a displayport cable.

All the same functionality with far fewer cables. I docked a star because the sound from the built-in speaker is pretty sub-par, and that’s to my very average ears. It also has some clicky glitching sounds playing YouTube videos occasionally.

The built-in camera is pretty good. It blows my laptop camera out of the water, but is only on-par with external webcams that have been around for years. It’s great for video conferencing, but probably insufficient for a content creator.

Quick note, the updated version of this monitor for 2023, the C2723DE, which is available now, is cheaper because the resolution is only 1080p, whereas this monitor is 1440p. That’s a bad choice from Dell in my view as 27″ is pretty big for only 1080p resolution.

So, this is one of those times where I would (and did) forego the newest version in favor of last-year’s model to get the better resolution.

Came with DisplayPort cable. Do not have any DisplayPort ports to plug in – had to go get a HDMI cable. Industry needs to focus on just one standard (two at most)! Cannot see ports on back of monitor – they are hidden up under the panel.

Have to repeatedly push cable connector until by luck it goes in. Requires monitor flat and a flashlight to see. Tiny red plastic tab sticking out of top of screen. Even going through the paper with pictures – did not realize the camera pops up, and after that, then you can remove it.

After the plastic is removed and the monitor is given to another user – they are not going to know a camera is even there as it blends in. The knob for adjusting OSD settings is difficult to press directionally.

There is barely any edge to catch your finger on. Cannot adjust camera angle?? Camera is above top of head. Enjoy bald head reflections! The Dell website says there is a camera but it does not list any specs anywhere.

Had to go to 3rd party website to find out it’s even a 1080p camera. For a 1080p camera, quality is very poor. A 720p camera from an old laptop looks better. If you already have a laptop with a camera, this monitor provides no benefit.

60Hz refresh rate causes eye strain. This is very well known in the industry. 75Hz should be minimum. 27″ screen is on the small side for 2560×1440. 32″ is appropriate. Icons and text are very small unless custom settings are changed around (general users won’t know how).

1440p is great but not really on this size of screen. A silver base should not be used as it easily shows scratches. A laptop was placed on it as a test and the laptop scratched it noticeably the first time.

Audio in meetings will randomly distort badly – as if the speaker is blown Windows volume control will not change monitor’s speaker volume during meetings. You must go through multiple control panel screens to adjust it.

The stand has a lot of adjustability – very nice. Although if the table is barely bumped the screen flops around. If I have a higher quality camera or a different microphone on the computer, this monitor keeps overwriting the Teams settings back to the monitor.

This is very aggravating as I have to tell people in video conferences this dell monitor taking over is why it’s not working.

We got this monitor as a test model user from DELL to our company. We (IT) set it up in one of our small conference room as a conference monitor and prepared it for regular staff to connect it with their own laptops for conference calls.

The initial setup was easy and still we needed to refer the quick start sheet to find the correct ports. The ports on monitor are plenty and could confuse a user without enough knowledge about port types.

The quick start sheet is needed as the marks on the ports are not very clear (like downstream to extra monitor). We need to test it to find out which right USB-C port can act as the docking port (the one on the back, not the front edge).

We also figured out to pop the webcam and Mic to stand out from hidden inside of Monitor and we decided to let webcam stay as standing out because a regular staff might not find it hidden. Once the initial setup completed it is easy to use.

A user with Latitude DELL laptop can just hook up the USB-C docking ports and get every thing working (Webcame, and a mouse and a keyboard connected to monitor) and begin the conference call easily. Microsoft Teams picked up the monitor and it devices without any issue.

Samsung needs to realise that a monitor these days is more than just its screen. Purely as a screen it’s fine – nice and clear, 75Hz works (and is unusual for a business focused monitor). The stand is quite good.

The eye saver function is appreciated. Almost everything else is a tad flawed. You can use this as a USB-C monitor, charging a laptop, providing a network and USB connections, and with MST out to other monitors (more on that later) until the laptop puts the screen into standby.

At which point the network connection disappears, even if LAN power saving has been turned off on the monitor (if the keyboard is connected to the monitor this still works to wake the laptop). There might be a long running network connection on the laptop or a VPN you don’t want to drop, so this is not acceptable.

The only fix I have at the moment is to edit the registry in Windows 10 to extend the screen standby time for the lock screen. The Displayport MST out is a real pain. It does eventually work either with a single monitor, or using a Displayport MST hub (the Startech 2 port Displayport 1.

2 MST hub works here driving a 2048×2560 10 bit greyscale monitor at 50Hz, and a 1200×1600 10 bit monitor at 60Hz after a fair bit of faffing). The reality of getting it working is repeatedly switching from MST to SST out and back again, and turning the monitor off and on again.

In some cases the Displayport version needs to be altered to v1. 1 because the firmware has become confused, and changing to 1. 1 is the only way of switching the monitor back into SST. Doing a reset all of the firmware settings is often necessary.

At the moment this is tolerable because the monitor is used with a work laptop with the S60UA and the two other monitors daisy chained through MST once set up carry on working provided the PC is not switched off – use hibernate instead of power off and on to retain a reliable configuration.

What I (eventually) want to do is also be able to switch the MST out between connections, so that I can switch between USB-C MST out to Displayport MST out when moving systems. I don’t have much confidence this will work seamlessly.

The PiP/PBP I’ve used very little and isn’t exactly what I expected. When the screen is split/has a PiP window the monitor reports modified EDID data to the connected systems – so each system doesn’t see it’s resourced with 2560×1440, it has typically half of that (for PBP), or a modified amount (for PiP) rather than a higher resolution input being resized and displayed in the PiP window (and naturally losing quality).

I thought this functionality would be useful, but the EDID modification and subsequent resizing of applications makes it irritating. It’s really only useful when two inputs are constantly connected rather than occasionally monitored.

So, at the end of the day it basically works, but the firmware foibles frequently really annoy. Test the firmware properly with frequent switching between inputs, using MST, and fix the LAN disappearing on screen standby and I’d be much happier.

Okay so I picked this up at Best Buy thinking it looked like a good value for a 4K monitor, due to missing out on smart TV styled features so prevalent in many others. Turns out, image quality is also a big sacrifice to get this price low.

I found that it worked well in games and as a direct PC monitor, since I can use programs like Windows color manager as well as in game settings to adjust images and HDR content very precisely. However, the actual monitor has a limited range of settings available, and the gap between high and low brightness/contrast seems to be very narrow.

Once I attempted to use the monitor as more of a media box, plugging a chromecast into it, I found more and more issues where HDR content looked poor no matter my settings. If you intend on solely using this for any work you think requires 4K resolution, or are going to use it for games, I’d say it’s an alright choice.

If you intend on any serious media consumption I would give this one a hard pass. Even with the success it has in games, sadly I think there are many other monitors in this price range that would suit you better.

I’m going to put it off as my secondary monitor for now, and return to primarily using a 1440p/144hz monitor I had for games and content.

This monitor has a strange setting where it alternates from brightly washed out colors, to extremely dark colors. It is some sort of auto adaptive color/contrast system. But here’s the biggest problem: you cannot turn it off.

I have disabled any auto color options in Windows, in Nvidia control panel, in Windows display settings, in hardware settings, and in the monitor menu settings itself. I even tried updating drivers and installing Samsung software, but no matter what it continues to do this washing in and out coloring.

I even tried using different types of cables (i. e. HDMI, DVI, Display Link) but they all experience the same issue. I Google searched for hours and found no answers, and nothing from Samsung. For games where you need to be able to identify things in dark or bright areas, this completely ruins the experience.

I will be returning this monitor and buying a gaming monitor instead. If you are just watching YouTube or browsing the internet, this monitor is great, but for anything else I would steer clear.
