20 Best Microwave Convection Air Fryer Combo (2023 Updated)

I was hesitant to order a combination convection+microwave oven, because of concerns about performance in either mode being inferior to the dedicated machines this effectively replaces. With this Galanz SpeedWave, there is no cause for concern.

Choosing either microwave or convection cooking modes both work excellently, and if you’re really in a hurry, the Micro+Conv mode heats food more quickly and thoroughly than just about any other cooking appliance I’ve ever used.

That said, as with most convection cooking, if you don’t want the outside of the food to dry out a little bit, any style of forced air heating is less than ideal. So reheating white rice(for example) still works better with microwave alone.

It should be noted(I didn’t see this in the product description) the microwave is 1000 watt, but the combined unit reaches a maximum of 1500 watt, when convection is also used. I’m not sure of the total wattage with convection alone.

The convection heating setting includes a fan at the rear, roughly centered both horizontally and vertically, with an electric element on the top. The sensor cooking features of this machine are very good, but what seems to be lacking is any logic to determine food quantity/weights.

In most cases these must still be entered manually, as with many other current generation microwaves. That said, my favorite so far is the frozen entree setting. This appears to be a true one touch setting, and although I’ve only used it with a single brand and variety of frozen entree, it has cooked perfectly every time so far.

This sure beats using the directions on the entree, as those would have me fussing with the food halfway through cooking.

Where do I start? The dial is ridiculous; it goes in 10-second increments for the microwave function. The Baking and Roasting functions only go as high as 400F. I used the Baking function to cook a frozen dinner and it burned it.

The instructions for the dinner said to use 425F so I would hate to see what would have happened had the oven been able to go to that temperature. The Air Fry and Convection cooking functions are virtually identical except that Convection has to preheat the oven, although I don’t know why.

In fact, the Air Fry function is really the only non-microwave function that works rather well. I’ve ended up using it for pretty much any non-microwave cooking. And the biggest problem is that the temperature settings for the non-microwave functions once again have huge gaps in the settings.

Air Fry goes from 425 to 350F with nothing in between. I’m waiting for a different brand and model unit to arrive so that I can return this one. I wouldn’t recommend this unit.

First – the microwave feature on this works super well. The investor technology is top notch. And I really like the style of it. The biggest drawback to this oven is its size. It requires a few inches behind it and as it is pushed all the wall back to wall (with no room for an outlet and plug) the front of it is at the edge of my counter with the handle hanging over.

This is a VERY LARGE machine. It will not fit in a microwave cupboard and barely fits on my counter. This i the main reason I took it back. Other issues I found – the way they package the bake tray and air fry trays – leaves the airfry table to get scraped by the table legs of the roasting dish.

These are teflon coated – meaning once they get scratched the teflon can leach out. Totally not what you want to start your cooking adventure with. I really wanted to try the airfry feature in this – thought maybe I could get over the size and the scratches if the airfry feature worked.

However after frying some zucchini slices for 40 minutes they were soft yet not toasty (they would have been done in 30 in my countertop air fryer). And then I still had to clean the interior of the microwave as the oil I had used dripped onto the microwave turntable.

Leaving me not able to use the microwave until everything had cooled and been cleaned. Not to mention at counter height – getting items out of the oven made it super easy to burn myself on the metal sides and left me worried about my kids trying to use the machine.

I had high hopes. I wish it had a small foot print and better packaging.

We mostly use for reheating. Controls are stupid-easy and the 30 sec button is the most popular feature. French fries, frozen fried fish filets and frozen fried shrimp came out perfectly crispy without heating up the big oven!.

I like this microwave/convection/air fryer. So far I haven’t had any problems. Works better than my old one. I would never buy a microwave that is only that. This is the only way to go. I have a small kitchen and don’t have the room for all the appliances I would need to replace this.

Would recommend it to anyone that needs an all in one.

Fantastic oven for countertop.

This is a great appliance for those short on space, but it’s not without compromises. First off, it’s a fine microwave. Hybrid units by other manufacturers have made the microwave part very puzzling to use.

This is very straightforward and works like a regular microwave. The air fryer part of this is about 80% as good as a dedicated air-fryer, and a bit more fiddly to use. Especially awkward is the process of flipping food.

You don’t have a lot of clearance between the high rack, the tray, and the heating element, especially when you factor in an oven mitt. And there’s no handle on the tray. So if you’re flipping bacon, for example, the tip of the mitt might go into the bacon grease when pulling it out.

And putting the tray back in afterwards, one-handed, is especially challenging. It’s easy to miss getting all three legs of the tall rack back on the glass tray, which means the food will stop rotating and burn.

Fiddly bits aside, the trade-off are absolutely worth it for us considering how much counter space we save, especially after you get used to them. Speaking of counter space, this is one of the most compact hybrid units I found.

Comparable units from other manufacturers are much larger, so I appreciate GE being able to keep this compact. One pet peeve on this. When the unit heats up, it screeches at you for an extended amount of time to let you know it’s hot.

So every time you go to flip your food or pull it out of the unit you get to deal with *scrEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*. This would have been better off as a warning light similar to how induction cooktops work.

This microwave has a lot of features and I haven’t had a chance to use them all. Everything with the cooking features seems to work really well, but there are a few things that are a bit annoying. First, the keypad is hard to read.

The letters and numbers are printed a medium grey on black, and I find especially the top of the keypad hard to read. Second, the timer cannot be set ahead of time and then started when you are ready.

On my previous GE microwave, this was possible. On this model, it starts counting down shortly after you set it, even if you have not pressed the start button. Last, I find some of the instructions confusing.

I was disappointed that only a quick start guide came with it. It was not enough to get me fully started. But I downloaded and printed out the full set of instructions. I don’t think they are very well laid out.

For instance, the info on each type of cooking is on its own page, but you have to flip to another page to find the correct type of cookware to use for microwave, air fryer, broiled, convection, and combination, and I’m still not sure about those last two.

Also, on the air fry instructions, it says to push the air fry button twice, then use the keypad to punch in the temperature. I had the oven several days before I figured out that the temperatures were in small print under some of the keypad buttons because of the difficult-to-read lettering.

I was trying to punch in the temperature using the numerical keypad itself. Last, I have some recipes. that call for the oven to be preheated. I did not see any instructions about whether that can be done, how to do it, how much time to add, etc.

Evidently this operates differently from appliances that are air fryers only. So, if these things don’t present issues, then it’s a good value. And I really like that the inside is stainless steel. My last one was painted, and the paint started to peel and rust formed inside.

I’m not a cook and I need *detailed* instruction for proper cooking modes and best practices, which the cryptic user manual does not provide. After many hours of research (I should not have to search), I am getting to know the unit better and I do like the machine a lot.

Price/Feature balance was very important to me and I’m very happy in that regard. Dimensions are perfect fit for my use and the micro is nice looking and works great so far, with the exception of Air Fry mode, which seems a bit weak–keeping in mind that a previously used small air fryer, is my only experience.

Although it seems that convection is pretty much the same thing as air frying, and might even be better using combo mode. I am basically very satisfied with my purchase. Lousy manuals seem to be the new standard accompanying modern consumer products–from many companies, especially those coming from the CCP.

Does a quality manual really increase the unit cost so much that its’ inclusion with the product is prohibitive? I doubt it.

I was not so sure about the Galanz Convection 4-in-1 Convection Oven + Air Fry + Toaster Oven + Microwave when I first got it. I mean really could one appliance really do all these things? And do them well? The answer is yes.

Yes it does. The microwave works better than any other microwave I’ve ever had. It is much quicker to cook or heat up items. The popcorn button does cook a few seconds too long though. It made toast really well.

The air fryer works just as well as the one I have. It is the first time using a convection oven so I’m still getting the hang of it, but it works out better than using my oven and heating up my whole kitchen.

There is a little cheat sheet to help when you open the door. I like that. It comes with a silicone mat for the microwave part. It has 2 special pans for the air fryer. I keep all out of it because I have found myself forgetting to take out the silicone mat when turning on the convection oven, it has to preheat for a bit.

It’s easier to take everything out after each use. It is a bit larger than the microwave I previously had, but it is replacing my toaster and air fryer so it’s not actually taking up more space. I have come to really like this.

The buttons are touch screen, the are very sensitive, so you do need to place it where you won’t accidentally walk by and turn it on.

I really liked this microwave/air fryer/convection oven. I have a small kitchen and having multiple stuff like separate microwave and air fryer just takes up so much room then to top it off it ALSO has convection.

This takes care of this problem. I has a nice clean look to go with my stainless appliances. It is quite heavy so it feels like its made very well. It is very easy to navigate all the buttons and features.

Microwave feature works great and also the air fryer cooks things awesome and nice and crispy. It does get pretty hot on the top and sides but most freestanding air fryers do, just consider this when you place it.

It has presets for tasks you would use a lot but also customizable functions that allow you to cook your food at the temperature you want. It also features a defrost by weight or time that is very handy.

Bought this as a replacement for a returned Breville, and between the two, expectations have changed regarding what is delivered with current microwaves. The microwave function is overall the best feature.

It’s 1000 watts and has an inverter, so it will change how you use a microwave. Things heat faster and more thoroughly on full power than with lower watt microwaves, and on lower settings (50% for example), it is always on, not alternating so better performance when not on max power too.

Time to heat is much better than with the similarly prices Breville model. Convection oven is decent and likely as good as any brand/model. The heating elements are not exposed so don’t get spattered, setting it apart from many brands.

Still, though, the elements do not fully cover the interior of the oven or even the turntable, so as items turn during cooking, they are under the elements some times and not others and different areas of what are being baked are under it a different percentage of the time.

Times to cook are pretty close to what food/recipes say, so its not bad, just not spot on either. There is a 425 degree limit to temperature settings, so be aware that 450 isn’t an option. It’s also under explained wither to use the pedestal wire rack all the time or not and where in the oven the temperature probe is.

The airfry function is essentially convection oven without the temperature control and then adding more run time of the fan. It is somewhat disappointing, but better than what Breville’s model did despite Breville allowing you to adjust the temperature during airfry.

I’ve used the airfry, but usually stick to just convection or mix microwaving with some convection time. Some of the presets sound great, but I’ve not found any that are really good. The pizza setting, for example, has undercooked some brands and over-cooked others so its unclear what it was calibrated for.

Using presets means constantly consulting the book, but overall there are better options than Breville offered, despite the less fancy display. The buttons used to select options are ok. To pick different power levels, you press the microwave button multiple times, and similar for selecting convection oven temperatures.

It would be nice if the dial worked to cycle through the levels or the options once a mode button was pressed. A screen change for a more LCD type look with lists to cycle through would be a plus, too, but its very usable the way it is.

If expectations are kept in check for the convection and airfry features, this model is good and outdoes the competition. The bundled feature set seem to geared more toward occasional use than full replacements for an oven or separate appliances, but that seems on-par with other brands.

There is room for improvement, but this model is above other brands for delivery showing that no combination oven is really exceptional or “excellent” at the present tie, so when considering options, keep this one at the top of the list.

We saw this in the store and took a gamble because of the claimed feature set — and ended up really liking it! The unit performs well in all modes. We have been impressed by a lot of little fit and finish touches that we otherwise never noticed — little things like how easy it is to open the door (you don’t have to push so hard that the whole unit might shift) — or the ability to configure the sounds (beeps) it makes to be less obnoxious.

At first I was dubious about the lack of number buttons; you set cook time and many options by turning the large knob. (Though for quick settings, there is also a “quick 30 seconds” button that you can push a couple of times to add 30 seconds more — up to about 3 or 4 minutes total.

) I’ve been surprised how easy it has been for us to get used to the controls — it turns out not to be a problem for us. Minus one star for potentially confusing instructions. One does need to carefully read and think about the directions in the air fryer and convection modes.

The directions are very complete (maybe overly so), but seem not to have been written by or for US English speakers; If you move too fast, it can look like every mode uses all of the included lifter, pan, and basket accessories (but in different configurations).

If you’re not careful and thoughtful, you can end up using the wrong combination, with unpredictable results. With hindsight, it seems likely the writer was trying to be too complete and ended up being confusing.

Even with the instructions, it took a couple of tries for us to get it right in each mode.

Manuals The user manual that is included with the microwave is 12 pages. When you dedicate 5 1/2 pages to safety information, 1/2 page to installation, cleaning, storing, and repairing your microwave, 1 page for warranty information, and 1 page for the cover, you only have 4 pages left to describe operation.

As complex as this unit is, I don’t think 4 pages is adequate. I called Customer Service at Samsung and asked if there was a more detailed version available. He gave me the link for the 40 page user manual, but said they wouldn’t send it to me – I would have to use my own printer, paper, and ink to print it from the link.

Interface This unit has a very poor user interface. There are no numbers on the panel – just “up arrow”, “down arrow”, and a “+30 sec” button. For example, to enter 10 minutes for a timed cook, you would have to press the “up arrow” 60 times (10 second increments) or the “+30 sec” 20 times – and then follow either entry with the “OK” button.

Previous microwaves I have used had a numeric keypad that would activate the microwave with a single press – for example, a single press of the “2” button would cook the contents for 2 minutes. Complexity This is a complex unit capable of not only microwaving, but has convection, power convection, grill, slim fry, plus combination grill/microwave and combination convection/microwave.

The 4 pages allocated in the user manual are woefully inadequate to explain operation. If this unit will be used as the only oven in an RV or a very small kitchen, its power might be appreciated, but the complexity cannot be justified in any other setting.

Maintenance This microwave is considered a “table top microwave” rather than a “built-in microwave”, so home service is not available (at least with the Samsung approved repair shop or Best Buy Geek Squad).

You must lug this unit into the repair shop and back for repair. Make sure that you install the trim kit so it is easy to remove the microwave if (when) repair is needed. Durability I haven’t seen the reliability numbers, but based on the reviews and personal experience, this unit seems to have a high failure rate.

Maybe the failure rate just seems higher because when you pay four times more for this unit than you would for a cheap microwave, you have more incentive to repair it whereas with a cheap microwave, you may just dispose of it and get a new one.

If I had wanted to just buy any product off the shelf I would have done that. Instead I did the research and found a product (model # MC12J8035CT) that met my needs at a price I could afford and got good reviews.

The first unit I received began malfunctioning the first time I tried it, but thinking it might have been an effect of “breaking it in” I tried the simplest microwave task of heating water in an open glass.

After a couple of attempts it worked, and I continued to use the unit successfully for a few days. Then, trying to reheat a small amount of leftovers in an open glass bowl it began arcing and flaming within seconds.

No, there was no metal. I set that aside and tried to heat water as a test, but the arcing only got worse. After a lengthy effort to speak to Samsung tech support, I decided that my best plan was to exchange the product through BestBuy’s 15 day return or exchange policy.

There were no units available at any store within a 3-hour drive from my house, but was informed that I could pick it up in a few days. Hoping that this unit was a lemon, I assented to this option expecting to get a fully functional replacement.

Happily, I was later told that it would be delivered and I would not have to make the 6-hour round trip drive. I received the replacement unit as promised, but when I went to set it up, all the buttons on the display panel functioned properly except the START button.

I couldn’t preform the simplest task of boiling water in the microwave. Thinking I had perhaps overlooked an important instruction (and yes, I DO read instructions) I called Samsung support. They offered no solution other than to send a technician to my house to fix it.

Again, the nearest tech is 3 hours away. As of today I have received no confirmation that a technician will be coming to my house. I’m willing to get this fixed before the 15-day return policy expires, but effectively I HAVE RECEIVED A BRAND NEW PRODUCT THAT REQUIRES REPAIR BEFORE I CAN USE IT.

I might expect this if I had bought it from a thrift store, but this is UNACCEPTABLE from two highly respected companies, Samsung and BestBuy. I will be happy to amend my review depending on whether I receive the customer satisfaction I expect.

After our over the range microwave died, we saw this unit as an opportunity to consolidate the microwave, air fryer, toaster oven and toaster all in one purchase. We were very disappointed however to find that although this machine can technically do all of those things, it can hardly do any of them well.

Time to microwave food took 10-20 seconds longer than our last microwave. The “slim fry” mode doesn’t give results anywhere near an air fryer. On top of this, the interface that is utilized to select modes and cooking time is horrific.

It is not intuitive, has no ability to enter numbers and requires the memorization or reference of codes such as “A1, B2, C3” to select cooking modes. Overall, we are very regretful in our purchase and are now stuck with an appliance that people locally won’t even buy used for half price.

Avoid this thing if at all possible!.

I really liked the 4-in-1 idea. So I got one with high hopes really wanting it to work wonders. It doesn’t quite do that. It does a decent job for all its function. However, it doesn’t excel at any of them.

1. It does fine as a microwave and it’s powerful enough @ 1000w. Curiously though, it can’t quite make decent popcorn like my 10 year-old 700w one; it burns before it pops most kernels. Otherwise, it doesn’t impress, but it doesn’t disappoint either.

It just is. 2. It does really well as a compact convection oven. This part is why I’m thinking I might keep it. I like the feature of a small energy efficient appliance when you don’t need a full-size oven – pies, cakes, cookies, etc.

3. It really disappoints as an air-fryer. It can barely handle anything for this purpose, really. you need to boost the temp and time. As a result you’re likely to dry out whatever it is you’re doing.

To contrast, I went as far as buying a dedicated basket-type air fryer to compare. The difference is beyond striking. Maybe it’s because the Galanz has a larger space to heat up with a lower wattage.

To demonstrate, I fried wings in the basket air fryer @ 380 for 15 minutes for an outstanding result. The Galanz had to go at max temp of 425 for 25 minutes for passable results (I even threw out a lot of batches while testing).

And there fries I tried in it were “Meh”. I’m absolutely keeping my basket air fryer. 4. Broiler does the job adequately. high intensity element only a few inches from the food. Works just fine. 5. I have not idea about the toast and bagel functions.

I do however use the toast function to crisp up taco shells for a few minutes. That works just fine for that.

I’ve tried popping 7 different bags of popcorn from 2 different brands for different times and settings. I’ve never had such difficulty getting popcorn to pop in a microwave. I don’t know why this appliance has such a hard time with it.

But I still cannot get it to pop a bag properly. They all come out half popped and mostly burnt. Aside from that, this thing has been great. The toast feature works surprisingly well, the air fryer is great and microwaving other things is a breeze.

I haven’t used the bake feature yet, so I can’t review that function. My two biggest complaints is that I can’t get it to pop popcorn and it’s a little bothersome to have to remember to put back in the red silicone mat each time I want to microwave something.

I love my Galanz Speedwave Microwave. It is more like an actual convection oven than a microwave. It heats evenly and perfectly every time I have used it, and my food never has any hot or cold spots.

I love that it comes with a steam kit and air fry kit. The steamer is great for vegetables and rice. The air fry kit is amazing for cooking chicken strips, cheese sticks and fries. They come out crispy and crunchy, something I never thought a microwave could do! The unit is very large, and fits well with my other kitchen appliances.

It is sleek, modern and easy to clean. The stainless steel design makes the microwave super easy to clean and wipe down. It is large enough to cook a pizza in, and that is the one thing I have not tried yet but look forward to.

The vent works great for keeping cooking odors and heat out of the kitchen. I was pleasantly surprised to see the unit has multiple pre-set cooking functions including defrost, steam, popcorn, potato, beverage, roast, and more! This microwave surpassed all of my expectations.

Installing was fairly simple, just make sure you have enough space above your existing range to accommodate the unit. I highly recommend this microwave to anyone looking for a multifunctional microwave.

I installed this microwave a few days ago and I love everything about it. The install instructions were extremely easy to follow. The template for drilling holes in the cabinet was spot on. I recomend having two people install it just because it’s a pretty good size.

The features on this microwave are amazing as well. It comes with a steamer to cook vegitables (which works pretty good) and there are a lot of other cooking options as well where you only have to hit a button.

My microwave didn’t come with the glass plate like it was supposed too, but my old one worked just fine. This has been the only snag in the process, but this microwave is so nice that I let it slide.

My favorite part of this microwave is the air fry option. It just eliminated an appliance in my house with this option. It comes with hardware to put your food in while you use the air fry option. I cook pizza rolls on the air fry mode and they come out nice and crisp, not soggy.

The instructions are pretty good at telling you what settings to use for certain foods when air frying as well. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with this microwave and would recomend it to anyone looking to upgrade.

I’m so in love with my Galanz! It was so easy to install, it looks great, and it’s a perfect addition to my kitchen! I love the convenience of being able to air fry and steam my veggies using both the air fry feature and the steam feature! I can’t get enough of trying new recipes that turn out perfect every time! This is the most used appliance in my home! It’s easy enough to use that my children can use it! What a game changer! I love the 4 speed exhaust fan, it works so well! It has beautiful LED lighting.

The side touch controls are in the perfect position! It’s very roomy inside that allows you to cook dinners for the entire family! The defrost feature is a lifesaver, it works perfectly! Crispy wings? No problem! I just can’t get enough of my Galanz!!! I would highly recommend!! It will be the best addition to your kitchen!!.

On August 8th, 2021 I purchased a floor model Stainless Steel Frigidaire Professional Wall Oven (Model # FPET3077RF) from PC Richards. Aside from a small dent on its side the oven appeared to be in perfect condition.

The oven was delivered and installed to accommodate my baking business. The first time I went to use the oven it turned on but after 5mins would shut off. I then tried to use the bottom oven and had the same issue.

On December 7th, 2021 I called and reported the issue and a technician was sent out on December 13th, 2021. He checked the oven, parts were ordered and two weeks later on December 28th he returned with the parts and I was told that the oven was working fine.

On January 19th the oven stopped working again and I notified PC Richards of the issue. A technician was scheduled to come out on February 1st 2022. A technician came and more parts were ordered. I called the corporate office and informed them of my baking business and that their oven is proving to be very problematic.

I also made them aware that removing the ovens multiple time were causing damage to my brand kitchen cabinets. The service rep then credited me the cost of the current oven and told me to go back to PC Richards and pick out another floor model oven as a replacement.

On February 8th, 2022 I picked out another floor model oven and it was delivered and installed on February 15th, 2022. On June 20th, 2022 the oven stopped working. A service call was made on June 29th, 2022 and I was told that two technicians would be there on July 12th, 2022.

The morning of July 12th only one technician arrived instead of two. He questioned what was wrong with the oven and based off of what I told him he ordered parts and did not inspect the oven. On July 21st I received an email stating that the parts are delayed.

I contacted customer service to informed them of my situation and was offered another floor model oven for the third time. At this point in time I’m very frustrated and disappointed. This has not only cost me time but money.

This entire process has been one month shy of one year, my ovens are still nonfunctional and at this point you can’t even tell me when the parts will be available to repair my oven. I’ve been forced to outsource a lot of my business because I could not meet the demands of my customers needs.

I’m disgusted in the quality of your appliances and this problem needs to be rectified as soon as possible.

This is a replacement for a previous same model. This one wouldn’t fit all the way in the opening so the front hangs out about an inch at the top. The oven door grated when opened and closed. A tech came out and said it would smooth out.

That was okay as long as air didn’t leak out the sides. I’m in Arizona and we don’t get much rain, but now it is monsoon time and everytime it rains hard, the microwave sends me a message saying I have to push the fuse switch, wait 30 seconds and switch it back.

Then it works. My fuse box is outside! Yesterday, I called the tech help number on the literature, and got a woman with a foreign accent. She kept saying that if it works after I change the fuse switch, then it is working! The main oven is fine, but the problem is with the microwave oven.

It works fine when it works. I want to add that Electrolux was very helpful when I had problems with the first combo oven and brought me my new one as soon as they could. Meanwhile, I don’t know how to reach somebody for help who can check the problem.

We recently purchased this double oven to replace our old Whirlpool. We had replaced our glass cooktop about a year ago when our Whirlpool cooktop cracked. We chose Frigidaire for it’s features and price point.

So, with the double oven needing replacement, we decided to go with a matching Frigidaire product. The unit is very attractive, a little more streamlined than the previous Whirlpool model we had and the digital menu is super easy to navigate.

It’s heat distribution is wonderful, especially when compared to our old unit, which had some issues with temperature variation, which made it nearly impossible to be sure when anything was cooked correctly.

While we had to wait several months before we received the unit (what with all the current shortages going on in all products, it seems) we are thrilled with our new unit.

This microwave, CMW-200 does everything it says it will do: Grill, convection and microwave. The grill and convection features work well, though this is my first experience with either. It fits on my apartment counter, looks beautiful and works well.

The manual needs to be really studied, however, to find the proper ways to use all the features. The price is good for the value received. I think this is a good mid-range unit for smaller area, and has features bigger Convection, or Grill microwaves may not include.

I have to report that I made the best meatloaf I have ever had in this oven, on convection setting, and in less time than a conventional oven. Heats really quickly on microwave settings, powerful 1000 watts works well on everything.

I did grill a leftover chicken thigh, to crisp the skin up and it did a good job. Recipe for ground beef in the moussaka recipe however, says to cook ground beef on high for 25 minutes – it was cooked to 160 degrees in ten minutes.

Also, customer service does not seem to understand how this microwave works, so do your research on cooking with grill and convection recipes. They also said there are lots of recipes on the website.

there are NONE for microwaves at all, certainly none for this unit. Bottom line is this is a really good, high quality microwave at this size and price, but look elsewhere for insight and recipes.

We are very disappointed with this very expensive purchase. We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and were hoping to use the Convection Microwave Oven and Grill to cook with until our kitchen was finished.

The microwave function works fine and we used it with no problems. However, the convection and grill functions were useless. I tried to cook frozen french fries and tried to heat the convection oven to 425.

When it got to about 375, the GFI outlet tripped and I tried several times and I could not use it to bake with as the temperature fluctuation was too great. Couldn’t maintain a 350 temperature long enough to cook much of any thing, The grill function is a joke.

I tried hot dogs and after 25 minutes took them out and cooked them in an electric frying pan. I have many Cuisinart products but would never recommend this oven to anyone.

We recently received our THIRD oven over the course of about 3 years! The first two didn’t work very well. All three have a microwave that worked/works fine. All three have a convection oven which won’t heat up past 325 F.

! The second oven had a broken latch which Cuisinart has us return for repair. It was returned after several weeks still broken—unable to open the oven door. So, they promptly sent us a new (3rd) oven and had us send back to Cuisinart the second oven.

I rated One Star for the microwave and One Star for the nice Customer Service people. I would rate the Convection Oven NO STAR…3 out of three are fails.

disclaimer – we didn’t seek this product out. the original product we ordered was basic/lower end model since we don’t use a mic that often. we were told this was an $800+ product we got as a trade and effort for best buy to make things right with our kitchen install mishaps.

~3 years later it has already stopped heating. we primarily use the vent, timer and popcorn functions so it gets low to medium level use. i think we only used convection a couple times. out of warranty, it’s $200 just to bring a repair person + $50 since it’s over the range + parts and any additional labor required.

that’s already more than what we would have spent for the mic we planned to buy originally.

This was a terrific microwave, but terrible range vent. Bought this in Nov 2014 and within a year, the fan on the right stopped working. The fan on the left barely does anything, but it sure does make a lot of noise.

We typically ended up with the microwave completely drenched from cooking vapors which dripped back into the food after sliding down the front of the microwave door. And, like other OTR microwaves, if you need to microwave something the same time you are cooking, the fan will essentially turn off anyway.

About a week ago the fan started going on and off by itself. Since Samsung does have terrible customer service, my husband tried to service it himself (electrical engineer and all) but the darn thing is held together with glue which made it almost impossible to service without destroying the whole thing.

Which he did. And now we need a new microwave and vent. But he did find that the reason it was malfunctioning was because of the grease and water vapor it wasn’t venting eventually infiltrated the control panel, causing it to go haywire.

Oh, and it is definitely not fingerprint resistant. Needless to say, we will not be purchasing this one again.

Do not waste your money on this microwave! It lasted less than 2 years. In under 22 months it started to have a C-D0 error. Essentially that means it’s disposable and not worth the cost of repair. It’s the door/keypad error.

The Samsung rep also said this can happen when moisture gets on the door. This is an over the range microwave that can’t handle moisture on it from the stovetop? It was being used to defrost and nothing was cooking in the stovetop when this error started.

Cost of repair is more than 1/2 the cost of a new microwave.

IšverstiShow in original languageI needed a countertop microwave that was powerful, didn’t slide around, had actual buttons & knobs, and an actual handle. Our previous microwave was a no brand and “conveyed” in our new home.

Its awfulness guided me to this Breville Microwave. As I said: We wanted actual buttons actual knobs, not some press pad that can’t register commands unless a finger pushes it with enough force that the entire thing shifts.

An actual door handle as opposed to a push pad I have to push with enough force that it shifts. There wasn’t a single microwave on the market that had these very basic criteria (which are not inordinate asks, imo) except for this Breville Wave series.

The high end looks, and the child lock (I have 3 very young mischievous children so this was a huge sweetener of the deal for me) and the intuitive interface that basically spells out to me what exactly I need to do whenever I make a selection, all these features made the competition irrelevant.

It’s like the Apple of microwaves. The choice was between the Combi or Smooth Wave and I generally avoid complexity but given the microwave portion of the Combi was well reviewed and that I had some gift cards at BBB which didn’t carry the Smooth Wave in stock (but if they did I would have chose it), I went with the Combi.

We’ve been having a blast with it. Grilling has been the best “non-Microwave” feature so far, it alone makes the extra cost for Combi worth it. The accessories have been useful and are solid quality.

The instruction manual needs work, I’ve read it twice and still am not sure what dish type exactly is safe to put in the machine under various programming. Air Fryer has been meh, higher temps and longer times than called for has been necessary to achieve ho-hum results.

The FastCombi feature has been the most disappointing, and the instruction manual is not instructive at all about how to use it, it just hypes it. Winging it and trying to use it blind, it has been a disaster.

Definitely a feature I’ll have to figure out myself over time if and when I have the time and the luxury to possibly waste food to experiment with it. Breville could have explained this feature better since they gave it a front face button (unlike my beloved grill feature which is found on inside door panel).

Stainless interior is huge pro. That it can’t be placed in a shelf is a huge con. Wish child lock was press&hold to lock/unlock, but it’s just a simple quick press to lock/unlock, like any other button.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis little machine has made our small kitchen more effective and more useful after just a week of a few uses. We air fried store-bought breaded cauliflower bites and we also used it to air fry brussels sprouts.

Perfect. They all came out perfectly done: crispy, but tender, with the slightest little bit of delicious browning. We microwaved leftover rice and we also cooked an 8 pound chicken in it. Beautiful.

Everything was tender and perfectly cooked, and the chicken had a beautiful, crispy skin, but inside we found tender, juicy meat. We used the preset controls to make pizza, popcorn, and steamed broccoli.

Everything came out just as we expected. We also figured out a way to make it a toaster oven for bagels and toast: just use the convertible cook dish with the legs in the “out” position, place the little “trivet” inside the cook dish, and air fry for four minutes.

It helps if you butter the toast before you do this, but we did it with dry bread, and it came out brown, crispy, remarkably even, and not dry. Amazing. We were going to buy a separate toaster for toasting bagels, but those came out well, too.

We have also used it as a convection oven to bake cakes, muffins, and a small lasagna. The results were remarkable. Still can’t believe that this one machine does everything three appliances did on our countertop before.

We live in Florida, where running our standard kitchen oven makes the whole kitchen hot on hot days. This little machine hardly put out any heat, and it allowed us to cook a variety of dishes for our small family.

Highly recommend.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve had this for a month and I’ve used all 3 features. I am happy with it. Breville has a great reputation and I have multiple small appliances by them so I was willing to give this a try and invest.

I have a very small Kitchen area so I think long and hard before adding an appliance to my collection because space is my biggest issue. I used this to replace my microwave and I am very satisfied with my decision.

The microwave aspect works well. I only use that for heating up and we’ve had no issues. It’s faster than my former one. The convection oven is my favorite. I do so many things in it. It’s wonderful for this hot weather because it has eliminated the need to use my large oven, thereby eliminating heating up my entire kitchen.

I’m not big in fried foods so I never desired an air fryer but my son has used it for chicken wings and was very happy with it. I cannot compare it to a stand alone air fryer as I have no experience with that, but this function is fine for us.

My only concern is that when using the convection oven feature the outside gets very heated so don’t it anything on top while using that feature. Also, after using the convection mode, it takes some time for the appliance to cool down so in the interim the microwave feature cannot be used.

After using it daily for a month, I’m glad I got it and foresee putting it to much use.

This microwave airfryer combo has its ups and downs. Firstly it’s rather convenient to have the abilities of a microwave and an airfryer in on appliance to save valuable counter space. It can perform both tasks well enough to be a suitable replacement for standalone units of both.

It has plenty of space inside and plenty of power. There are lots of presets and a convenient chart located behind the door for a variety of common dishes. The controls are not your standard number pad with extra buttons for various settings, instead the main controls are all done with a wheel with center button.

Select the mode, turn the wheel to set the time / temp etc and confirm by pressing the center button. It works ok and you can set it pretty quickly but it’s not immediately obvious or as intuitive as most standalone microwaves are.

The included tray for air frying is pretty small. good for reheating some left over fries rather than cooking a whole bag to go with a meal. It also comes with a 2 position lifting stand so food can be closer to the heating element while airfrying.

This metal stand cannot be left in the unit while microwaving food and that creates a storage problem when using the microwave function. Where do you put it? Overall I think this unit would be a good choice for someone who is single or has a small kitchen where space saving is a concern.

It’s a little confusing to program at first and probably would be difficult for kids to use on their own. It’s definitely a little tricky trying to explain it to guests. Also the air frying capacity is kinda small for the size of the unit, I’ve see smaller stand alone airfryers with much larger capacity.

Anytime you have a 2 in 1 appliance there will be compromises made in order to make it work and this unit has its flaws but I believe despite its flaws there are plenty of people who will find it a worthwhile addition to their homes.

The PowerXL Microwave Air Fryer Plus has so many great features. Love the easy to use controls. Simply select if you want to microwave, air fry or bake. The dial makes it easy to select time, temperature, and power levels.

There’s also a simple quick menu located on the inner door frame. Very easy to use. My 10-year-old baked brownies in there without any trouble. I love that he can bake and not be dealing with a big heavy oven door.

This did a great job of air frying a pizza and the microwave does a great job heating up anything we have put in there. I noticed bake times are a good 3 to 10 minutes less depending on overall time so make sure to check dishes often when using the baking option.

I love the turntable function for all settings making it perfect for even heating. This would be a perfect appliance for someone that wanted an appliance that would do it all. One thing to keep in mind is that it does vent heat in air fryer mode and bake mode.

It needs to have 12″ of space above it and a minimum of 3″ space behind it and on one side and completely open on the other side. We didn’t stop to think about this before we got the PowerXL Microwave Air Fryer Plus so we had to move things around in our kitchen to allow enough venting room for it.

It’s well worth the effort to make room for it. Overall this does a great job!.

I don’t have a lot of counter space so I love the idea of a microwave that can also air fry foods. The microwave didn’t disappoint in the air frying department. It’s nice to have crispy fries as well as fish and chicken fried filets for healthier eating.

Just be aware that it takes a lot longer to air fry than to just microwave, though the end result is worth it. This also has the benefit of being able to air fry more food at once than our air fryer, making it easier to time everything for a meal.

The box includes accessories so you have all you need to air fry except paper liners if you use those. It also works great as a microwave. Since it does so many different functions, I highly advise reading the instruction manual.

There are a lot of preset choices, but getting to them takes a few steps. Overall I really love this combination appliance and it looks very attractive in my kitchen. There are so many different features it will take our family a while to try them all out.

The only real downside is it is quite a bit deeper than my prior microwave so I had to reconfigure my microwave area to account for the depth as well as the recommended clearances. Be sure to measure your space before buying and also make sure there is adequate clearance so the appliance doesn’t overheat.

This replaced an 8 year old Advantium. It’s pretty much the same. Does an excellent job of cooking. Two complaints: 1) pre-selected times are in 15 second intervals so you can’t choose 20 or 25 seconds, 2) BIG COMPLAINT: There is no display clock except when the door is open.

Their owners manual tries to blame that on the Dept of Energy regulations. Here is the truth: The standby power budget is legislated 2. 2 watts. That’s enough to get an iPhone to browse the web. Way more than enough to power a small screen with no touch functionality and a trivial program.

It’s bad engineering by GE. Either they picked a power-hungry display unit or they failed to program the CPU to use its low power mode. They just failed at the task of designing the embedded controls.

Just had this microwave/convection oven installed. Replaced a double oven with this unit along with a single wall oven to free up the space over my cooktop for a conventional range hood. Was hoping to be able to use this microwave combo as a replacement for my second oven.

So far the microwave has worked great (although the controls do take a few extra steps and it would be nice to have more flexibility than just having 15 second increments on the microwave cook times).

I tried to use the convection oven tonight to roast some vegetables on a full size baking sheet. While the photos of this oven online clearly show a rectangular metal rack that sits above the turntable, my unit only came with the round tray that sits on top of the turntable and rotates along with it.

I looked and looked to find a way to stop the turntable from spinning, but didn’t see anything. Without a rectangular rack or the ability to stop the turntable from spinning, this unit loses a lot of functionality for me as I can’t use any full size rectangular cookware to bake or roast.

I’m going to try to find out why I didn’t get the rectangular rack (although I don’t even see how it would be placed in the oven. The side walls don’t have any ridges or holders for a rack). Hoping I don’t regret this purchase!.

We completed a full home remodel and purchase 7 GE appliances. This microwave was one of them. After the first month of use the control panel continues to have error messages and has a loud beeping sound at least 7 or 8 times each month.

When we cook something it makes a loud rattling sound. After 3 appointments the technician said the control board needs to be replaced but the housing is also loose. He recommended to GE for a full replacement of unit.

After 6 months of waiting for GE and at least 30 emails the unit is still not available. Not very happy.

I bought this microwave a month ago. My old microwave weighed about 50 pounds, this one weighs almost 75 pounds. The very large door creates additional downforce when open. Together, these design issues caused my kitchen cabinets to begin to sag.

I was able to have the cabinets reinforced, rectifying the sag, so this isn’t a continuing problem, but it did cost me extra. The microwave oven works like a charm. It looks great and cooks great, with lots of features.

For example, just touch a single key for the # of minutes and it assumes the seconds are zero and immediately begins. Nice in so many ways. An over-the-range (OTR) microwave oven performs two functions.

One is cooking. As I stated its great at that. The other is exhausting fumes, smoke, or condensation from boiling water. This microwave is HORRIBLE at performing this second function. I left the filters off temporarily to check the airflow and you can barely feel even the slightest movement of air, even when the blower is at its highest, #5.

The design of the exhaust seems to try to carry air through a little slot on each side, then both slots make a 90 degree turn towards the blower. (AND yes, before you ask, the blower unit position was changed for external venting exactly as called for in the installation manual).

My microwave decided to just quit working so I needed to buy a new one. There are so many options to choose from. If you can, go in store and look at the display models. I love LG products! This one had an air fryer built into it which was a bonus! I love that when the timer goes off, it does a cute little jingle to alert me.

It was easy to install and I love the look of this microwave cause it looks so luxe. I spent alittle bit more than I needed for a microwave but it was worth it. If I’m going to invest in something, I don’t want to settle for something I didn’t really like because it was in my “price range”.

So far, it’s working perfectly.

We bought this a month ago. It has a lot of features, but we have had trouble figuring out how to use some of the advanced features, like connecting it to WiFi. The user’s manual isn’t much help with the advanced features; neither was LG Customer Support.

On the plus side, however, the microwave has done an excellent job cooking everything we’ve tried so far, even though we’ve been guessing how to convection cook and combination cook.

The microwave is rated the same as our previous model but it takes significantly longer to reach the same temperature. Food that could be reheated in 3 minutes in our previous microwave takes 4-5 minutes in this one.

The soft-closing door stopped closing after 5 months. Considering we only use the microwave 15-20 times a week it failed very quickly. We’re a household of 2 adults so it wasn’t rough handling. The air fryer feature is slow compared to countertop models, and has a very small capacity.

We aren’t enjoying that feature as much as I hoped as we can only make side dishes for 2-3 people at a time or a meal for 1 person at a time. The convection oven feature works well and cooks very evenly.

This isn’t a feature I’ve got a lot of previous experience with but I’m happy with the results. It’s helpful to be able to program/configure favourite settings. That’s probably our favourite thing about this unit.

The cooling fan is very annoying to listen to and the unit doesn’t return to displaying the clock once it’s done running at the end of every cooking cycle – that’s probably the most frustrating thing about the unit.

Overall it’s a decent microwave but not worth the price or loss of counter space.

We purchased this product about a week ago and so far have been very impressed with its versatility in the kitchen. We’ve tried a number of the presets it includes (pizza, bacon, meat from frozen and fridge temp, popcorn, frozen lasagna to name a few) and cooking has been excellent without exception.

The microwave function in particular works fantastic, the cooking consistency is the best I’ve encountered. And a huge step up from the basic microwave it replaced! We have not tried the air fry function yet, but everything about the Combi (build quality, appearance, soft close feature, etc) has been top notch and everything that has gone in so far has come out very nice.

The only minor concern is the Combi’s size, it is a bit big for a small apartment kitchen like ours. But not to the point of being a problem by any means. And the Combi was able to replace our microwave and toaster oven, so it crated a net increase in counter space (the original reason for purchasing).

And on the whole, it seems like the type of kitchen appliance that we will make good use of virtually each and every day. Overall we are very satisfied with the purchase, and would recommend the Combi without hesitation.

Definitely not worth $600. Got this is on sale at $450 and the silent features alone is worth a $100 extra compared to your average microwave. Silent Features: – Mutable button beeps and completion beeps (FINALLY!!! Why can’t other microwaves do this ughhh) – Soft close door so no banging hinges (we’ll see how long this lasts) – Very silent operation (perhaps lower power draw which is why it’s weaker than others) Main downside and why it is not worth the price: – For a 1100 W microwave, it takes a long time to heat up food compared to the cheapest Panasonic microwave that you can get of similar wattage.

Despite its sexy design, it is not good at its main function (you had one job! lol). I often need 2 minutes for what a cheap Panasonic can do in 1 or 1. 5 minutes. Better off getting a cheap microwave and separate toaster oven or air fryer.

I would say the 3-in-1 is kind of gimmicky but good for small kitchens with limited space I suppose. Having said this, I will keep it for the silent features alone. Other microwave manufacturers need to implement this easy software feature of mutable buttons and silent doors.

Sigh.

We purchased anew microwave and range around August 2020. I can’t say I’ve ever been disappointed in a microwave, but this one made that happen. A microwave’s one job is to heat food. This one can’t seem to do that.

It is 200 watts less than the microwave it replaced, and that is fine. I would expect longer heating times. However, this thing just doesn’t work. If heating certain items (soft pretzel for example) the microwave will have half of the pretzel hard and overdone, and another area still cold.

Not frozen, but not edibly warmed. Soups and stews, they take over twice as long to cook as our old microwave, and the outside is hot and bubbling, the inside is still cold. A while back, I was boiling water, and you could see the water stop boiling at some point in the rotation on the tray, and then it would pass through an area and start boiling, and then stop again after it went through that area.

Clearly there is an issue with the microwave distribution. The turntable is supposed to compensate for those microwave fluctuations, but it is woefully insufficient. The magneto and capacitor were replaced last year under warranty, and that did improve the cooking even-ness, but it is still very poor.

We are planning on getting a new refrigerator and dishwasher to match, but with the very disappointing experience with both this microwave and the KitchenAid range we got, we may just sell these both off and replace them with something that actually works.

I don’t know that I trust Kitchen Aid with major appliances based on our experiences here.

Simply put, this is the best microwave I’ve ever owned. When our previous microwave blew up at the beginning of May, I knew I wanted to upgrade to something with convection cooking so I could effectively double my number of ovens.

My favorite feature has to be the crisper pan. It makes perfect fried eggs every time. It crisps up pizza that never gets soggy, and the meats get nice and browned. The baking feature is phenomenal. Accurate temperatures, great circulation, and good design.

The steaming basket works as advertised, and produces the most perfect broccoli I’ve ever steamed. The number of built-in presets and smart options this has are dizzying at first, but you will quickly realize how much time they save and how perfectly they cook or heat your food.

The appliance is beautiful, looks great above the stove, and has very powerful fans that help manage smells of the range. At 1200w, the microwave function cooks things faster, so you do need to make a few time adjustments here or there, but I prefer the higher power.

I highly recommend this appliance. I have heard many people say theirs have died or otherwise broken down within a year, so hopefully that doesn’t happen to mine. But at this moment I have nothing but good things to say about this appliance.

We have been impressed in the past by KitchenAid quality when we replaced our dishwasher in 2016, and finally got the opportunity to remodel our kitchen in 2019. The Black SST contrasted very nicely with the natural maple cabinets.

Unfortunately the microwave has not been as well behaved as the refrigerator, dishwasher and convection range. The first microwave was dead out of the box, not heating the glass of water during the initial test.

This was quickly exchanged by the appliance store. The second microwave did not last 3 years. Upon starting some broccoli to steam, a very loud bang was followed by a high buzzing sound. When I think that I replaced an entry level GE microwave with 10 years of operation, I would expect a microwave almost 3x the cost made by KitchenAid would last at least as long.

During the 2 1/2 years, I have noticed no improved performance that would rate this worth purchasing other than it was quieter. The only push to replace with the same model is the aesthetics and match to the KFEG500EBS 6.

4 cubic foot oven and KRMF706EBS refrigerator. Maybe I will purchase the 5 year warranty on the next microwave.

This is a gorgeous product, and the lighting, fan, and noise levels are all within my expectations. Unlike other reviews, I find the vent fan to be reasonable in terms of the noise levels. The lighting, I’m surprised to say, is halogen/filament type and I’m surprised it’s not LED, because the surface lights put out quite a bit of heat just lighting up the range top.

The performance of the convection oven and microwave seem to be just fine and as expected. Nothing too surprising. The small elevated wire rack that goes on the turntable is too small and seems very cheap as it doesn’t even fit the turntable – I’ll have to look for a suitable replacement.

Here’s my biggest issue. The controls for this are just whacky – it makes me feel like the controls are an afterthought instead of a design feature. So while this is really impressive in the looks department and I suppose in the performance department, using it in everyday life makes you feel like it’s 1998.

For example, to preheat the convection oven, I press “Convection Bake”, then I have to scroll using “Arrow Keys” to set a manual temperature, then I enter the temperature using the digits, then I hit “Select” and then I press “Start” to preheat.

BUT WAIT!!! I didn’t first OPEN the door to the microwave so that I can start the preheat, so I have to open the door, look inside at it’s emptiness, then close it and press “Start” and THEN and only then, will it preheat.

Same thing with the microwave – unless you’ve opened and closed the door sometime recently, you can’t start the microwave – which seems reasonable, except for the “why” of it all??? Is it unsafe for me to preheat my oven without looking inside of it first, really??? Here’s another example, to turn the fan on high, you press “Fan”, to turn the fan off, you press “Fan”, “Fan”, “Fan”, “Fan”, “Fan”, “Fan”.

You have to got to level 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 then Off. Really??? Here’s the point, I use fan a lot, I also usually cook on a manual setting. I don’t see why I have to push so many buttons to do something that I do everyday – it feels like it was designed by a video game engineer from 1984.

Hahaha. So I love the product, I love the looks, and it works just fine – but who at KitchenAid is actually talking to customers to see how they can make the user interaction work for REAL people? It’s sad to see such poor focus on the interface here – it’s prettyy consistent through all of KitchenAid’s product line (I just bought $10k worth of appliances and they all suffer).

We purchased this microwave as it matches the KitchenAid double ovens we purchased a little over a year ago (also through American Freight). The purchase and process with American Freight was very easy and smooth.

When I arrived at the store JT assisted me with getting unit off the floor (we purchased the floor model on this one) and out to the car; he even helped me get it into the backseat of my car. The only issue we had installing the unit is that there was no template since we did not get the original box.

So after some measuring we figured out where we had to drill holes for the mounting as this is an over-the-range model. You will want to have at least 2 people to help lift this unit into place and onto the mounting bracket.

It is large and a little heavy. My wife and I were able to lift it and get it into place. Once on the mounting bracket you feed the power cord through your cabinet and then 2-screws from the top get you bolted in.

Operating this microwave is very easy from the front panel controls. I like that the controls use touch and are under the glass and not those membrane type controls that wear out over time. The microwave while running is very quiet.

I am used to the “microwave hum” found in most microwaves but this unit is very quiet in comparison. It seems to heat well so far (only installed it 2-days ago so not a tremendous amount of use yet).

The only big thing I have is that while I like the big heavy-duty handle that same handle is a marvelous heatsink when cooking on the cook top underneath. It was almost burn your hand hot. However it cools quickly once the cook top is off.

The way our cook top is situated the big burner (we have a gas cook top) is directly under the handle and of course this is the burner we use most often. Nothing an oven bit won’t fix if you have to open/close the door while cooking on the cook top as well.

Overall very happy so far!.
