20 Best Meat Thermometer America’S Test Kitchen (2023 Updated)

Purchased this meat thermometer to replace our old one we had for 19 years and it is working great. I highly recommend this model. It has markings that indicate how deep into the meat you place it to get an accurate read, the dial is easy to read, and the thermometer cover has all the proper temperatures for any particular cut of meat or poultry.

You cannot leave this type of thermometer in your meat while it is cooking, and the instructions wisely remind you NOT to submerge the temperature dial under water ( that is how our old thermometer met its demise).

I gave this thermometer only 3 stars but still wanted to recommend it for both its merit and fault. Merit: it Is good for what it is meant for, quick in telling temperature of a big chunk of meat, by “big” I mean that it has to be almost 3″ either in longth or width.

Fault: it is almost useless for anything else, because you are supposed to insert the whole almost 3″ long grey area on the probe into the object that you want to take temperature for, anything that is smaller therefore does not allow inserting the whole length will not do.

I took pains to find out these things because I have little confidence in digital thermometers and really wanted this thermometer to work. I put it into boiling water to test its accuracy the first thing after receiving it.

But it reached 180f and refused to go to 210f, which is the right temperature. Then I read the manual and realized that it was accurately reading the average temperature of boiling water and the cooler air on top of the water.

I would recommend this product to those who need an analogue thermometer only for big chunk of meat. I had to retuned it, for I usually cook smaller portions.

First Thermometer arrived with the glass cracked – BB&B quickly replaced, but does concern me that the glass used may not be the most robust. Thermometer seems to work fine, but I am disappointed with the following: 1.

outer rubber ring is difficult to turn. Maybe this will loosen over time, but for now it’s not really usable as I’m afraid I might break the thermometer with the force needed to turn it. 2. I don’t know why the indicator needle is so short on the temperature end.

The long end points down to the fine print with generic settings such as “beef”, “poultry”. But the words are so small they are very hard to read while cooking. The opposite stub end of the needle is used to point to the temperature, but it’s so short extrapolation to the temperature is ambiguous.

Not sure what this end isn’t longer to reach the numbers. Overall I wouldn’t purchase this model again. It’s more expensive than other options, and not as well designed.

Sometimes all it takes is the right tool at the right time to make your day. This is as true in the kitchen as it is in the garage. The ThermoPro Digital Meat Thermometer is one of those tools I’ll never do without again.

Anyone who has been frustrated with analog cooking thermometers,. waiting,. waiting,. waiting (“has the needle stopped or is it still moving???”), to see if the item they’ve cooked is at the desired temperature, knows what I’m talking about.

I am extremely happy with this food thermometer. It reads almost instantly and is easy to see, The on button is in the exact right place for your thumb to press it without looking for it every time you need to use it.

The probe is not too long nor too short and has a snug fitting cover for when not in use. Also has a ring to hang it on a hook if you like. That’s what I did, next to the stove and my spice rack. I definitely recommend this product.

What a great product. The device turns on when you extend the temperature prong. It is very robust and temperature readings are virtually instantaneous. The fact that it is rechargeable is an added bonus.

The wife and I use this thermometer for warming milk during home cheese making. The decimal point really helps to get the milk temperature spot on. The response on readout is really fast also, which is a huge advantage.

For years I have been sweating over the BBQ constantly checking the wellness of the meat, from pork, to steaks to chicken , from rare to well done. Always seemed some one wasn’t satisfied especially when your cooking steaks and everyone likes it a different way.

So I purchased this thermometer and used it for the second time this week with steaks. SO MUCH BETTER. Simply open it up, stick it into the thickest part of the meat, and you get an accurate reading.

NO more guessing. Once you get your temperatures down as far as wellness goes, your done. And Chicken is a no brain’er. Well done only and now no slicing open to check and guessing. Sorry I didn’t buy one 20 years ago.

If you want a nice little present for yourself, or for the BBQ’er in you house, this is it. 5 stars all around, and for the price, a no brain’er.

I only just received this probe and I checked it for function. You have to stick a battery in it. After warming up some fondue the temp reads 160F which is just right. The probe has to warm up from room temperature to product temp so it does take a few seconds.

ALL instant read probes work this way. There is only one user adjustment: degrees F or C. Once you stick it in, the probe will beep when the temperature readout stabilizes. This is a great purchase. Time will tell how durable the Accurite is.

Bought this as an extra when using an air fryer I recently acquired. Can be set to F or C reading and it is a great aid for checking things are cooked to the right level/temp rather than just relying on how things look.

Can also use it for oven cooked foods as well so very happy with this purchase.

This thermometer is great in terms of features. I bought it due to phone app integration and 4 probes, and the probes and physical unit seem to work great. I didn’t like the idea of strapping something to me to view something as simple as temp data when I’ve got a fully capable phone at all times.

Whelp, I’ve used it for 3 half-day pork shoulder smokes and each one was the same. The app is EXTREMELY poorly implemented for my Andriod Samsung Note 9. I’m hopeful that it will be updated and fixed, as again the physical unit seems to work great, but I will not hold my breath.

-The unit becomes disconnected constantly. I can remain seated 5 feet away, not using other bluetooth devices, line of site to the unit, and it will randomly disconnect. I saw that reported by other reviewers, and I wrote those complaints off thinking they hadn’t checked for background usage permissions and things of that nature.

Nothing makes a difference, it just disconnects whenever it pleases. -The app crashes pretty often. One of the smokes, if I turned my phone landscape while the app was open it crashed. I haven’t gotten through any cook without a few crashes.

-The app doesn’t actually LOG any of the temperature data. So when it crashes, or you become disconnected, kiss that data goodbye. I thought it would be fun to graph a bunch of smokes, record the ones we liked best with recipe/weight and look at statistics, see at what the cook looked like charted out on the best ones.

Its impossible, I’m lucky to ever see more than 30 minutes of data, even when I don’t leave the grill area. -The alerts would be great, if the unit stayed connected. The first time I thought I’d cut my little yard, but I constantly got bombarded with disconnect alerts.

A few times it looked like it was connected, even showing the bluetooth symbol on the unit, but the temps weren’t updating on the app. -You can’t even view all 4 temperatures without scrolling, you can see it in the pictures in this listing.

Come on guys, how terrible is that UI design! Can you imagine if on the physical unit you had put 3 temps on the front of the physical unit and one on the back? My screen is 6. 4″, surely I can view 4 temperatures.

And if you try to view the graphed data, what little you managed to capture prior to the last disconnect, the chart flashes at you as it receives data. So again, this is a SOFTWARE problem. They have a poorly coded and designed application, for what is likely a well functioning device.

My $10 no-name bluetooth headphones don’t disconnect. It can be fixed. If I could go back, I would have purchased something else, and I would not recommend this device to anyone else unless the app is fixed.

I’m still surprised these devices are bluetooth instead of wifi. Put it on my network, along with all my other smart devices, and let me communicate from any device I choose to pull the app up on at that moment.

Make the app cloud based with storage, make people pay subscription fees to keep more than X of data and access recipes or reviews on charcoal or discounts or whatever. I don’t care. Just make this thing functional so I don’t have to throw it away because I can’t rely on it.

**edit October 2020**The app has been updated and I’ve changed my review to 4 stars. No more crashes when I rotate my phone, and it retains its graph history now. Thank you devs for the fixes!I’ll add to the pile of reviews citing the terrible Android app.

But first, the hardware:The unit itself is actually great. Battery life is excellent, the display is easy to read (although the viewing angle is pretty narrow). Having 4 probes is great and allows flexibility to monitor multiple food items and/or a couple of different regions of the grill surface.

I accidentally left it out after my previous cook and it got rained on for an afternoon. Fortunately it survived without any issues. I don’t think I’d take a bath with it or anything, but it appears to be water “resistant”.

One problem with the probes is that they are so long that it is a bit of a challenge to arrange them on the grill surface so they don’t interfere with the lid closing. And the 2 brackets used to attach them between the grill grates aren’t designed properly, so the probes only fit loosely in the brackets and tend to slip out even under the weight of the cord.

So now, the app:Yeah, the app is still hot garbage as of this writing (July 2020). I haven’t had bluetooth disconnect issues as mentioned in so many reviews, so that’s good. But on my phone (LG V35 ThinQ) the app crashes constantly.

One trigger is to simply rotate my phone. Immediate crash as the display rotates. And it has found several other opportunities to crash without any provocation. When the app crashes, it loses all historical data so the handy graphs all reset, which pretty much renders them useless.

The high and low temps are a great feature, but it is very fiddly to set them precisely. The internal temp can only be set to some presets for the various meat types (med rare, med, med well, etc). That’s good, except for things like pork shoulder where the target temp is much higher than any of the presets.

The app has potential, and I can only hope that the developers are still working towards perfecting it. As it stands now, it’s too buggy to be relied upon. And since the app is a lot of the appeal of this model, I’ve gotta knock off stars for the poor performance of the app even though the thermometer itself is solid.

TLDR; Solid Thermometer, would recommend. Detailed review below. Tip:Make sure you change your app permissions to allow the ThermoPro app to run in background, and make sure if you are in the habit of killing all of your apps you don’t kill the ThermoPro app while cooking.

My Review:One cook so far, a turkey as you can see in my pictures, and it was for my future in laws, so this was a make or brake for me with this thermometer. So far I am very happy. Thermometer is accurate, 4 probes allowed me to monitor the front and back on my smoker, and the breast and thigh individually.

Adding custom profiles is super easy and is something that I didnt see exclusively advertised, since I was traveling with this turkey I wanted to be able to monitor the cook, the smoker, and the temp range while wrapped in the cooler to make sure I stayed safe on temps while driving.

I was able to do all of that without issue. The cord keepers are fantastic. If you are like me and would forget your thermometer outside after cooking because you passed out in a food coma, get the separate case, it makes you want to put it up.

Negatives so far:The port for the black probe on my main unit seems to be a bit loose and was getting wild “temp swings” until I settled it in and quit moving it. Not a big issue, but I was slightly disappointed.

My only other real complaint is that if you find a dead spot in your house, which I did in my recliner on the other side of the wall from the fridge, you lose your cook data when the app disconnects.

I would love to see this changed in the app. Adding a feature like “This Cook” that stored your temp data until you manually clear it regardless of app disconnect would be awesome. The idea I see is not something that is stored all the time regardless of app connectivity but just storing while you are connected, its something that could be changed in the app without changing the hardware.

I’ve had my MeatStick thermometers since last summer. What I can tell you is that this thermometer is the last one I’ll ever use. I have gone through a lot of thermometers in the past. The wires that connect to the probes are an absolute pain in the ***! Oh and did I also mention the extremely short lifespan of most of these wired thermometers?! I have a bag full of thermometers I don’t use anymore, because they all broke, and quit working, and always at the wrong time.

I understand the MeatStick is a little expensive but compared to the money I’ve thrown away on the ones that don’t work anymore, the purchase price is a drop in the bucket. I do recommend getting the Wi-Fi Bridge for sure.

The original MeatStick’s keep track of the internal temperature as well as the ambient temperature. The new Mini MeatStick also keeps track of the internal temperature, but does not have an ambient temperature.

So if I’m doing a cook that requires two thermometers, the Original MeatStick goes in first because of the ambient temperature, then I add a New Mini just to make sure it’s the same internal temp throughout.

I’ve had some communication back and forth with The MeatStick’s service department, no big deal just some questions. They were so helpful. Making sure all of my questions were answered and that I’m very happy with my MeatStick.

If you’re looking for a thermometer, look no further than the MeatStick, you won’t be disappointed.

The concept of this probe system was exactly what I was looking for. The problem is the complexity to get it working. As a new owner I was expecting more product support since it’s anything but plug and play.

It took over an hour to get 4 probes connected and my meat on the smoker. Even after all that time I was not able to get the probes to run through the wifi setup. I could only get them to work via bluetooth.

That was the biggest disappointment after spending $500. Running a close second was the ambient temperature readings. I was really excited to be able to capture the ambient temps from all areas inside the smoker.

However the readings were no where close to the actual temperatures. running 50+ degrees low. Definitely not something that I would trust. I’m going to give it a couple more tries with future cooks and hopefully will figure out the trick to get them to connect to the wifi bridge instead of just bluetooth so I can monitor my smoker from afar but right now I’m less than impressed by this product given the amount of money invested.

I was hopeful it would blow away my FireBoard system as I was really looking forward to a truly wireless option.

I’ve been using The MeatStick for about two years now and I love it. It is my go to meat probe whether I’m at home smoking a chicken for the family or out at the beach grilling up a tri-tip for friends.

Their was a small learning curve when I first got the MeatStick but soon after I just loved the ease of use. I had a hiccup with one probe and was assisted quickly with a replacement after some troubleshooting tech support, a few pics to customer services, I was sent a replacement probe and I was back in business.

I currently own 4 probes which includes the two of the 2020 red version, a mini and the new grey version MeatStick. I must say, I use the mini the most now, but the others are perfect for my smoking needs because of the ambient temp, which alerted me when my pellet grill flamed out and when my barrel smoker needed a little more fuel.

I strongly recommend this product, due to its performance and I had a great experience with their customer service. For all of you that need to step away to run an errand, the wifi extender is awesome! I was miles away at target running an errand and I knew where my temps where at, so cool! Happy grilling all!.

This is a well designed and thought out remote meat cooking thermometer. I will not barbecue poultry again without it! Got this to ensure the Xmas turkey was properly cooked. But I tried it out on whole chickens first cooked just right.

Wish Id had this years ago. It works via Bluetooth from the heart of my kettle style bbq, with the lid down-Almost a faraday cage! Yes, reallythe box kept near to the bbq acts as a repeater and I can see whats going on- inner meat cooking temp and ambient bbq temperature itself around my house.

Further if I use it on Wi-Fi. Brilliant. Expensive? Yes but so was the turkey. And so is my health. Absolute BBQ essential. Will be using to perfect oven roasts shortly. I am Richard Phillips. This is my own review and I dont take kindly to inducements to change my opinion.

This review given a fortnight after purchasing the MEATER.

I purchased the Meater + from Amazon and have use it 8 times. It no longer works and yes it is charged. Very disappointed in the quality of this product. From day one I could not move my phone more than 5′ away from the probe in my grill which is 160′ less than they claim it should work.

The probe also kept reading the ambient temperature at over 500 degrees when the ambient temperature was less than 400 degrees. The probe also read the internal temps much lower than the other thermometers I used to double check the Meater.

I could never trust the temps given from the Meater. I am avid griller and was excited at the possibilities of this product. I am disappointed that I wasted over $100 on this product. Save your money and spend it elsewhere.

This product does not work.

Would give the Block 5 stars based on easy setup, nice app, and the first few cooks. Worked as advertised and was very impressed. Since the first few cooks it’s been a 1 star product. Each time I turn the block on I never know how many probes if any will connect, but it’s never all 4.

I’ve cleaned the probes as instructed, made sure they are seated and charged, and tried multiple times to re-pair the probes but no luck. It’s a great concept that needs work to be reliable. I hope MEATER gets there.

In the meantime I have my trusty ThermoPro I use when not enough MEATER probes connect. I’m mostly using my ThermoPro….

This device works very well. The mobile app, which has terrible reviews for some reason, worked for me just fine! You sick in your thermometer, go to the mobile app, set the meat you’re cooking and wait for the annoyingly loud beep.

No seriously! I was on a phone call with my earbuds in, and the beeping was blasting through my skull. I had to unlock my phone, go to the app, and tell it to stop. Shutting off the thermometer did not work! Caveat EmptorThat little hiccup aside, I like this thermometer.

Granted, it’s the first one I’ve ever owned. I’ve always used the digital sticks you can’t leave in the meat and I guess when things are ready. Having something that tells you right away is very awesome.

My biggest complaint however, is I don’t seem to be able to set my own temperature. What if I just want to stick the thermometer in the grill and have it tell me when I hit a temp? Like I’m about to smoke meats and I need the fire to die down a little before I hit the grill.

Well, I just have to monitor it. What if I want my meat to come off the grill a little early and rest up to the right temp? Doesn’t seem to be a way to do it. So yes, big step up from a stick thermometer, but I’m sure there’s better models out there to be had.

However, for the price and ease of use, I think it’s a good purchase.

This thermometer is amazing. With 4 thermometers you can keep an eye on every type of meat you are cooking and the grill temperature as well. I have a 22 Weber grill and I’ve smoked 3 briskets, a few tri tips and a pork butt using the thermometer.

The app needs a little work I think but it’s easy to set an alarm for a specific temperature or if the temperature goes above or below a specific temperature. You can create your own profiles for temperature.

The alarm on the device itself is pretty loud. i have to mute it at night when smoking. It also has a backlight on the device itself if you don’t have access to the app. The only knock I have on the app is that you cannot multi-task.

If you switch to another app for me it losed connection sometimes and the temperature graph gets restarted on when you got reconnected. Wish there was a way to save your history and graphs. Overall great product and would recommend to anyone.

I had read good reviews so I gave this a try. Today I smoked 2-6lb whole chickens and a 3 lb pork tenderloin. Used hickory pellets (whole tube lasts approx 4. 5 hrs). Seasoned with olive oil and 4 Rivers All Purpose rub.

Pork loin had mustard for the binder and 4 Rivers All Purpose rub (Florida based company). The hickory pellets in the tube made the difference. 5. 5-6 hrs later the chicken was super moist and had the perfect smokiness flavor which I had not been able to acquire from my Master-built Sportsman smoker previously.

It did a fantastic job for the first time of use and I will sing its praises. I can’t say about its longevity but if it dies definitively be getting another. Happy smoking!!!.

I’ve bought a few cooking thermometers over the years, and can say that this is hands down the best one I’ve ever used. It’s quick, convenient and super-easy to read. Most importantly it’s accurate!This is actually my second purchase of this thermometer.

I had to buy another as the last one I bought broke–which was 100% entirely my fault: I was cleaning it and pulled WAY too hard on the metal prong and ripped it right out. Then stood there for a minute staring at it like an idiot wondering why I did that and what on earth did I think would happen–I mean, it’s a $12 thermometer after all.

Still, it took a pretty strong effort to rip the thing out, so it’s a (fairly) durable thermometer, too!Anyway, the cool feature are: push-button prong release. Great for quick use, or pretending you’re a space-age cowboy on really boring days.

The temperature read out panel lights up (not bright enough to read by if the power goes out–trust me on this) and makes a very easy to read display for the temperature. The magnets are very cool–my kids like to play with stuff, and, as mentioned previously this is a very cool ray gun substitute, but they won’t mess with things on the fridge for some reason (too busy trying to get at all the food inside is my initial guess).

The magnets are a truly great idea–anytime I can avoid putting something new in the junk drawer that’s a bonus, since I’m not even sure that drawer can open anymore. If you’re reading through all the reviews on this thing then: 1) more power to you, as there are a LOT of reviews 2) but get a different hobby–I mean, it’s $12 and 3) stop here, because you will be happy with this one.

I’ve had two of these ThermoPro thermometers in seven years. Now I’m buying a third, not to replace the second one, which is still going after four years, but for use in my garden. My most recent thermometer has been used almost daily and has remained accurate.

That said, my first ThermoPro thermometer lasted only just over a year, the reason I’ve deducted a star on this review. I liked it well enough, though, that I bought another without hesitation. I love the fact that this thermometer has a magnet so that it can be placed right on my microwave for easy access while I’m cooking.

Final note: I’m a huge fan of ThermoPro products so far. My husband has the meat thermometer for grilling/smoking, and we have a magnetic thermometer to monitor the temperature in our garage. (As I’m buying a new thermometer to test soil in my garden today, I’m also buying a second magnetic thermometer to go in my basement, where I grow seedlings in late winter.

) All of these products so far have served us well.

The problem with this purchase was not the product. It was having other people in my house. We liked the thermometer and used it frequently. I liked the ease of changing out AAA batteries, which I usually have on hand, and not needing a special battery that I would consistently forget to order.

I appreciated the accuracy and how easy it was to use and read. Forget those stupid little dials that are too tiny to read without getting your face close enough to be burned. But others in my home could not stop themselves from submerging the thermometer in water.

And letting it soak. So the display spazzed out. It worked after drying out the first few times but then it had enough and quit. Can鈥檛 say I blame it.

Thermometers are not something I think about when I’m cooking; however, this gadget saved my roast. I was able to put the prong in the meat, set timer, and walk away, knowing that roast was at correct temp after alarm went off.

I know where to find this thermometer as the magnet sticks to the side of my fridge. The digital reader makes it so easy to check on progress and no need to stick my head in the oven. I received this item in exchange for review.

If I could rate this a zero, I would. It looks nice, has a good feel, and seems to be a good product. Unfortunately, within an hour of use, it started showing HHH in the temperature reading and beeping constantly.

I took the probe out of the meat I was cooking (which was at 183F when I got my last valid reading) and cooled it down to room temperature. It still continued to beep and show HHH. I shut it off, let it sit for an hour, and turned it back on, with the same results.

I was cooking at 225F, so I know I didn’t overheat the probe/cord. If this product can’t make it through a single cooking session, it’s obviously not well built. Do not waste your money on this product.

I have had one of these for several years. I recently purchased another one because sometimes I run two smokers at once. I have used this on a pellet grill and an off-set smoker. Performs flawlessly and is accurate.

Easy to clean and maintain. basically the probe is all that needs cleaning after use. The magnet on the back of the main unit allows for easy attachment to any metal surface, and the lead lets you keep the probe in place without having to constantly open the smoker to check temps.

I was hesitant to spend this kind of money on a thermometer, but I took the plunge after one too many disappointing brisket results. Just a couple of cooks in and it’s proven it’s worth its weight in gold.

The ambient thermometer showed that the temp gauge on my smoker was way off (explaining why all my cooks took way longer than I had planned for), and with the bluetooth repeater it means I no longer need to constantly go out to check on how things are going.

I can even see when the smoke is starting to cool so I can anticipate when I’ll need to top up the fire with wood. If you’ve already dropped $1k+ on a barbecue setup then you might as well spend another $200, and at least ensure that you get the results that were promised in the BBQ brochure!.

Great concept however very disappointing that the phone needs to be directly next to webber for signal not to drop out when cooking with the webber lid on. Really disappointed with the lack of range when it advertises 50m range, we can’t even get 1 metre away with lid on webber.

It works well as far as assisting with cooking meat perfectly but the extra money for better Bluetooth range is a rort. Guttered it doesn’t live up to what it says it will do for $200 i expected alot more.

Pointless having a wireless probe when phone has to be directly next to webber anyway, so close I’m worried about heat damage to phone just so signal won’t drop out. My wired thermometer for under a $100 works just as well just doesn’t tell you approx cooking time.

It was a birthday present for my husband, it works but the Bluetooth range doesn’t live up to its promise. Overall disappointed with product for price.

This thermometer would be good for someone who makes huge roasts or turkeys, etc. You insert it about 3 inches. It is very easy to read. I’m returning it because we need a smaller one.

The first one stopped working after a few weeks. BBY sent a replacement instead of store credit. I would have chosen a different one. Takes at least 15 seconds to go from room temp to meat temp. Once meat is up to pre-programmed temperature, it won’t stop beeping, even after you remove the probe! I sit it on the counter where it reads 75-80 then starts beeping again.

The only way to get it to stop is to hold the power button down and hope it turns off. It usually takes 2 tries. Giving it 2 stars because it seems accurate, but you have to burn your hand holding the thermometer to find out, because it takes so long to register.

It registered very accurately unfortunately I had burned the burgers so it was way above proper cooked temp but oh well. Need to get used to grilling and not loosing track of time. They were still edible and tasted great.

Loved the long probe didn’t have to get too close to hot surface.

I bought this item a month ago and it has changed my status as a true chef. It allows me to know. with such ease. how well done all my meats are whether cooking in the oven or on the bbq. I am amazing.

Product arrived very quickly and works great to get a quick temperature read for meat on the BBQ, Smoker, and oven. Also, the temperature ratings for different doneness for meats on it is very handy for those that require it.

My previous Maverick ProTemp 100 digital meat thermometer lasted 5 years with lots of use.

Not instant, but fast’ish and accurate reading (10-30sec). The swinging action of the probe offers a bit of an annoyance in that it doesn’t lock “open” so can swing back and forth when inserting it. It also doesn’t have a power-on button; the swinging probe turns it on and off, with it timing out when not in use to save battery power.

So, inevitably, you’ll find yourself forgetting to swing the probe to turn it back on again before inserting it. Lastly, the digital display can default to Celsius or Fahrenheit, which is great, but note that the temperature guide below the digital display is only in Fahrenheit.

This has changed the way I grill and smoke forever. This may be the most important device for cooking other than the device you cook with. I have had the meat thermometer for over a month and I have used it for grilling steaks, chops, and chicken.

I have also used it for smoking pork butt, pork loin, and a prime rib and it has taken all the guess work out of cooking. Results in the quality of food have been phenomenal thanks to this little device.

It is worth every penny.

6 probes are just great!..I used 2 probe for the smoker temp and meat temp. I used 1 probe for my propane grill .I used 1 probe for my refrigerator temp and one probe for my hot tub temp.. so awesome

I received this product as part of a promotion in exchange for my honest review. I was really excited when I received this thermometer. I took it out and used it the next day. It was packaged well and simple to use.

It isn’t anything fancy, which is what I like about it. It is easy to read and can be left in the meat while cooking (silly, but I find having to insert a thermometer every time I open the oven to be so annoying).

Seemed to be accurate (just based on approximate cook time. I always use an oven mitt to handle everything in the oven just to protect my hand from anything hot, so I did not notice if the thermometer itself was hot- but it probably was because of the material it is made of.

I received this Kitchen-Aid Leave In Meat Thermometer for my honest review. This was an easy review for me. I really liked the substantial size of this kitchen tool and the ease of reading the temperature digits without my glasses.

Secondly, the fact that it is a leave in the oven thermometer was ideal and the digits could be read with the oven door closed. It is sturdy with a large stainless steel face. After using other thermometers and having others in my kitchen drawer, this is the one I always use when roasting because it is so accurate.

I had a perfect pork roast thanks to using this thermometer. Love it!!.

This is a large KitchenAid oven safe thermometer. It is designed to be left in the meat while cooking to ensure the meat is cooked to the correct temperature. I like the oversized dial. It is easy to read, and very handy.

The instructions were clear and concise. This is the type of thermometer my mom and grandmother used and brought back good memories of time spent in their kitchens. The thermometer cannot go in the dishwasher, but with hand-washing, it should last many years.

There is a recommended meat temperature chart on the back of the package so helpful for me as I struggle cooking meat well. I would recommend this product for anyone needing a leave-in thermometer. I was gifted this thermometer in return for my honest review.

The temperature reading was 8 degrees F below the actual temperature (212 degrees) of boiling water. I checked because I had used it in making candy which was overcooked due to my reliance on the temp reading.

Additionally, the directions for setting a target temperature are useless. I found it impossible to use this function.

Actually zero stars. This thermometer doesn’t work and I’ll need to send it back. Also it makes an obnoxious loud noise every time it is turned on and the directions do not offer any trouble-shooting suggestions for when it won’t work.

Bad product.

I bought this mainly for cooking candy and have only used it for that so far. It does a great job but be sure you know what your temperature needs to be. It does not have any pre-programmed choices for candy, only meats, and can be a little tricky to just program a temp.

I have used it a few times and can say the probe stays in place and the display is easy to ready and I have no issues. I do like that I don’t have to worry about getting the whole thing wet when I wash it, just wash the probe and it’s ready to go.

I recently bought an Akorn Kamado Kooker, and was advised I could only master it with a reliable remote thermometer. My nephew Chad, also a competition BBQ guy, said the TP-20 was the bomb, so I got one as soon after assembling the Akorn as possible.

Now I’ll be the first one to say that labeling the Akorn Kamado as the gold standard is conditional on one’s ability to achieve temperature equilibrium. I’ve known others who bought and sold their Akorn Kamado in short order when they were not able to achieve said equilibrium.

I had a good advisor and I’m Irish, so I conquered it the second time around. But this review ain’t about Akorns, it’s about the TP-20, but the background is cogent. Successful operation of the Akorn might be possible without the TP-20, but I’d never try it.

Now I’ve got enough experience smoking boston butts that I didn’t really need a remote probe in the meat, but having one measuring internal Akorn temp was the difference between success and failure. On the TP-20, you can click Mode until ‘Oven’ is an option.

I picked that and hung the remote probe through the upper damper first time around and got skewed results, no doubt because the probe tip was touching the inside of the Kooker. I-Tronics includes a right angled stainless steel clip that I didn’t and couldn’t determine its function until I reread the User Manual and found an obscure reference to ‘clipping the probe to the cooking grate.

‘ The clip has holes in both sides that perfectly accommodates the probe above the grate. Second time around I was able to control the internal cooking temperature at +/- 15 degrees of 250 degrees for nine hours, opening the lid only once at the six hour mark to wrap the butts in foil.

I probably made a half dozen upper damper adjustments over the nine hours to thwart temp rises or drops, but the accuracy of the TP-20 allowed me to do that on a timely basis-obviating panic attacks when you’re caught sliding sideways.

I gave the TP-20 5 stars based on ease of use, decipherable operating instructions and pinpoint accuracy. The freaking butts became the tender smoked pulled pork I was accustomed to. The WiFi coverage of 400 feet allowed me free range around the house with the receiver unit.

At $54 plus shipping it’s a bargain IF you want to upgrade your slow smoker to an Akorn Kamado. No slaps at Char-Griller, the Akorn manufacturer, but if you’re serious about your BBQ, you ain’t relying on the thermometer integral to the Kooker.

I can guarantee you the TP-20 delivers, and they give a lifetime replacement warranty on the sensor tips, the most vulnerable aspect of the entire system!.

We grill a lot of fish in the summer, and lamb and beef during the winter. When grilling an expensive cut of meat, a Prime tenderloin for example, preserving the meat quality is imperative. A remote reading thermometer makes possible temperature monitoring while continuing to entertain guests.

Here in Alaska, it’s also often more comfortable to be inside rather than outside. All of these devices measure the temperature at the tip of metal probes, and transmit that temperature information to a receiver via a radio-frequency link.

This allows the user to remotely monitor the temperature at the probe tip. I researched these radio-frequency-based remote reading thermometers to replace a long-time device and chose the ThermoPro TP-20.

After thoroughly reading directions, I inserted the enclosed batteries (very convenient), inserted the two temperature probes, and the sender and receiver established a radio-frequency link, with no need for my assistance.

The two probes showed the same temperature probes provided the same temperature value, a quick check that the device was calibrated. I’ve not owned a dual probe remote thermometer before, but I used them both as I monitored the two ends of a 6-pound tenderloin.

My family has rare-meat lovers and well-done lovers, and being able to monitor the thin and thick ends of the tenderloin allowed me to adjust the various heat sources on a gas grill. I usually use a charcoal grill and don’t have the ability to control the heating to this degree, but it’s still a useful piece of information.

Of course I log the data, so the temperature differential will also be interesting to log. When planning a meal, it’s useful to know that a 6-pound tenderloin, cooked on gas, with the meat at this temperature and outside temperature at that value, will require 1:30 to cook.

The manufacturer claims that the sender and receiver will communicate over a 300-ft maximum distance, a distance that I did not measure, but it certainly worked well through a 120-foot distance and through heavy plaster walls.

I am very impressed with that performance. The receiver, the controller of the system, has pre-sets for FDA-approved cooking temperatures for a wide range of likely-to-be-grilled foods. Although I didn’t use the feature, the device also allows one to set other temperatures, instead.

One can change from Fahrenheit to Celsius degrees, as well as access a timer and other features. Read the directions!Directions are easy to follow. The device was well-packaged, and included everything as advertised.

It’s easy to use and provides accurate temperature information. My first use was for an almost-two-hour grilling of a tenderloin cooked over gas. I enthusiastically recommend this device.

I purchased the ThermoPro TP20 primarily to use when smoking meat/poultry in my masterbuilt gas smoker. I used to use a combination of an iGrill bluetooth thermometer that would send the smoker box temperature reading to my smart phone along with a standard corded digital thermometer to check the meat temperature.

Using the iGrill was okay, but I would always get bluetooth dropouts and have to reconnect and stuff. Plus I had to physically go out to my smoker to check the meat temperature. I could have purchased another iGrill probe and kept with the smartphone connection, but I was sick of disconnects – oh, and all the while my smartphone battery is draining and I can’t really roam too far away.

So I decided to look for an alternative and found the ThermoPro TP20. I used the ThermoPro for the first time to smoke a whole turkey for Thanksgiving 2018. The ThermoPro worked flawlessly. Both the probes report the temperatures from the base station to the remote station.

Also both of the temperature probes are a good size, really substantial compared to other probes I have used. I was able to program max temp thresholds and received alerts when for instance the smoker box temperature raised too high.

I could leave the remote station in the kitchen and not worry about having my smartphone tied up with this nonsense. There were no disconnects between the probes and the base or remote stations at all.

I did not test how far I could wander with the remote station though – all I know is that it performed much better than the iGrill bluetooth connection within the same vicinity. And that vicinity was really as far as I needed it to go – I can keep it in the kitchen, it works, no disconnects, I’m good.

I was highly impressed by this device and glad I didn’t need to tie up my smartphone anymore – and now I could use my smartphone’s bluetooth connection to connect to a portable speaker for some music rather than temperature readings.

I recommend this to anyone who is interested in monitoring the temperature of 2 items at one time (i. e. : maybe two meats, or maybe just one meat and your grill/smoker box temperature). I like the rubberized skin that the devices are covered with – they are bright orange so I can find the remote station quickly and will protect the devices from minor drops.

This is easily a 5 star product. It was easy to set up and use and provides nice convenience so you don’t have to hover around your grill/smoker all day.

I’ve had this for the better part of 6 months, it was a gift from the misses for Father’s day. The battery on this is awesome. I don’t think I’ve had to recharge it once in all that time. That’s having used it approximately 75-100 hours.

We live in Utah where we get all seasons and all types of weather. This thermometer has held up very well in snow, rain or high heat. The temperature readings seem pretty accurate, I would say within 1-2 degrees at most when compared with a single probe thermometer or when the probes are reading general climate temperature.

My biggest complaint on these is the probes themselves get extremely hot on the handle part. I don’t even know what a good solution would be since the entire probe is aluminum, and has to be encased in high heat environments for long periods of time.

The manufacturer did put a strong warning on the probes but it’s easy to forget when you’re trying to pull hot meat off the grill and you try to quickly pull those little fire pokers out of the way and end up with a mean blister.

It took a few of those experiences but I eventually learned. I always use a hot pad to move the probes now and let them cool outside. Overall would recommend this to friends and family!.

I liked this product very much overall, but will be returning it. It was not good for our needs. We cook chicken (breast or tenderloins), steak tips, and burgers most often. Unfortunately, the probes themselves are too thick and heavy to be supported by these types of cuts.

I found that the probe worked “ok” for a chicken breast, if inserted lengthwise before cooking, but the issue then becomes when flipping the chicken, the probe and attached wire can point down toward the fire.

The other issue is, that because the probes are straight, when having all four in use, it is really difficult to keep the wires away from each other, from going across other meat on the grill etc. I’ve seen many thermometers with a curved probe, which would serve two good purposes.

the curve can easily be repositioned when flipping the meat to keep the cord away from the grill surface and it can also be used to keep the wires up higher to keep the wires from tangling with each other or keep it from resting across other pieces of meat.

Overall, I really liked this product, the app was good, the temperature readings were accurate, but the probes are just too heavy and cumbersome for the types of meat that I cook most often. If shorter lighter probes of only a half inch or so were offered (so it could rest across the top of a steak tip and go straight down into the tip, be removed when the tip is flipped, then reinserted) or probes with a curve, it would be REALLY helpful.

I’ve always seen that ThermPro products were highly recommended by BBQers, so I thought I’d try it out. Especially since this comes with 4 probes and connects to my phone via Bluetooth. The first thing I did is test out all the probes in a glass of ice water.

All 4 probes came up with 38-degrees. I compared that result against a simple pen thermometer I’ve used for years, and it came up with 35. 6-degrees. It’s a bit off of the +- 1. 5-degrees advertised, but not by much.

I wish there was a way of manually calibrating the unit. Other than that, I also wish that it came with a carrying case that would fit everything. There are 8 pieces to this device, and it’d be nice to have a case to hold everything and make it easier to transport.

My final con is that the units used to wind the cables are a bit bulky considering. But I’d rather have them than have to manually wind the cable. Even with these cons, I was able to connect the unit to my phone very quickly via Bluetooth, and I was able to figure out how to set everything on the app without much of a problem.

I’m looking forward to using this for my next smoke.
